Speaker 1 (00:00):
The world is changing
and time is running out.
This is Renewed Mindsets, wherewe confront Biblical truth
head-on no sugarcoating, nocompromise.
We expose false doctrine, reveal fulfilled prophecy and
shine light on the demonicdeception of these last days,
(00:21):
but we also stand firm on thehope of Christ's return, the
call to holiness and the urgencyof true salvation.
It's time to renew your mind, for the time is now.
Let's go, boys.
Hey, welcome to RenewedMindsets.
(00:47):
I'm Rick and I'm so glad you'rehere.
Today.
We're going to talk aboutsomething that came to me out of
nowhere.
It's a story that most of ushave heard, but I started
thinking about it from adifferent angle and I thought
maybe this could be the firsttime anybody's preached from
(01:08):
this perspective.
So stick with me, let's move on.
So have you ever had somethingthat you depended on disappear
overnight?
So have you ever had somethingthat you depended on disappear
overnight?
Whether it's a job or arelationship, an investment,
(01:35):
your security, it can shake youto your core and if you're not
careful, it can make youquestion God.
Now this is what we see in Mark, chapter 5, when Jesus casts
out a legion of demons andallows them to enter a herd of
pigs.
2,000 pigs run off a cliff anddrown.
Now we often focus on the manwho is delivered, but today I
(01:56):
want us to step in the shoes ofthe swine owner, because there's
a powerful lesson for us in theend times.
We'll start off with scripturefrom Mark, chapter 5, verses 11
through 14, and I'll be readingfrom the New Living Translation
A large herd of pigs was feedingon the nearby hillside.
(02:17):
Send us into the pigs.
The spirits begged.
Jesus gave them permission.
The evil spirits came out.
So let's look at it from theowner's perspective.
Put yourself in the shoes ofthe man who owned those pigs.
(02:52):
Those pigs weren't just animalsto him.
They represented his income, his stability, his plans for the
future.
Now, maybe he'd been breedingthem for years.
Maybe he had calculated howmuch profit he'd make at the
next market.
Then Jesus shows up, speaks oneword and your herd of pigs is
(03:15):
gone in a matter of minutes.
You stand there in shock, watching your entire livelihood
vanish off a cliff.
Now can you imagine the anger, the fear, the thoughts running
through your head?
What am I going to do now?
Why would God do this?
Why would he allow it?
(03:36):
Does he even care about me?
Now, that's how many of uswould react if God allowed the
things we depend on to bestripped away.
So here is the truth we have toface.
Jesus values one tormented soulmore than he values your
comfort or your bank account oryour plans.
(03:57):
He will disrupt your economy, your routines, even your sense
of security, if it meansrescuing someone bound by
darkness.
And in the end times we'regoing to see disruption on a
scale that we've neverexperienced before Full
economies collapsing, freedomsbeing stripped away, the
(04:20):
comforts that we take forgranted shaken to the core.
And if your faith is rooted inyour comfort, you will not stand
when the shaking comes.
Think about how easily we'rerattled when we lose something
small A job change, anunexpected bill, a setback in
(04:41):
our plans.
Now imagine entire systemscrumbling.
Imagine waking up and findingthat your savings account is
gone because of a bankingfailure.
Imagine losing your job becauseyou refuse to compromise your
faith.
Imagine friendships breakingbecause you don't bow to the
culture's idols.
This is not fear-mongering,people, this is reality.
(05:07):
Jesus warned us that in thelast days, everything that can
be shaken will be shaken.
That's Hebrews chapter 12, 26and 27.
He told us to be ready.
Now, getting back to thescripture, when the people of
that region saw what happened.
They begged Jesus to leave.
(05:29):
They valued their pigs morethan his presence.
Then the people began to pleadwith Jesus to go away and leave
them alone.
That's Mark, chapter 5, verse17.
Think about that.
They had just witnessed thepower of God deliver a man who'd
been possessed by thousands ofdemons.
But instead of rejoicing, theyasked him to leave.
(05:52):
Why?
Because his presence disruptedtheir comfort.
We do the same thing.
We cry out for God to move, butwhen he shakes things up, we
panic, we complain, we questionhis goodness.
So right now, I want to ask youto ask yourself what are my
(06:17):
pigs?
What am I holding on to sotightly that I would be tempted
to resent God if he asked me torelease it?
It could be a relationship, acareer, a reputation, a A dream
you've been chasing.
Even good things can becomeidols if they matter more to you
than Jesus.
(06:37):
And if you're not willing tolet go, you're going to end up
like the people who begged Jesusto leave, and the cost of that
is far greater than the loss ofany earthly security.
The enemy will use loss anddisruption to try to shake your
faith.
In these last days.
He's going to whisper.
(06:58):
See, following Jesus costs toomuch.
He takes more than he gives.
But that's a lie.
Jesus himself said if you tryto hang on to your life, you
will lose it.
God is against you when thingsfall apart.
He wants you to believe thatthe pigs matter more than the
(07:26):
presence of God.
But the truth is Jesus is worthmore than anything he could
ever ask you to release.
He's worth more than your job, your finances, your security and
even the plans you have madefor your life.
When you understand that youwon't crumble when things are
(07:47):
stripped away, you'll recognizethat the shaking is not
punishment, it's preparation.
God is preparing his church tostand in the midst of chaos.
So we need to ask ourselves nowwhat would it take for me to
walk away from Jesus?
It's a horrible question.
Would losing your comfort do it?
(08:10):
Would losing your savingsaccount?
What about losing relationships, a wife, a husband?
In these end times, there'sgoing to be pressure like we've
never experienced before, andonly those who are rooted in
(08:31):
Christ will stand.
So we must listen carefully tothe truth we've heard, or we may
drift away from it.
That's Hebrews 2.1.
If you don't hear anything elseI've ever said, hear this.
Jesus values souls more than hevalues your comfort or your
possessions.
Disruption is not always theenemy.
(08:52):
Sometimes it's the hand of Godsetting somebody else free.
And if you hold too tightly tothe temporary, you're going to
miss the eternal.
In the end times, we have to bewilling to let go of anything
that keeps us from followingJesus fully.
So let me ask you this what areyour pigs?
(09:16):
Identify them, lay them downbefore God.
Ask him to remove any idol fromyour heart, even if it costs
you, because if you cling to thetemporary, you will be shaken,
but if you cling to Jesus, youwill stand.
(09:39):
Pray with me, lord.
God, I surrender everything toyou today.
If there's anything I'm holdingon to tightly, something I'm
holding on to tightly, reveal itand help me let it go.
I declare that you are moreimportant than my security, my
(10:02):
plans or my possessions.
Strengthen me, god.
Strengthen me to stand when theshaking comes and give me eyes
to see your hand, even in loss.
In Jesus' name, I pray Amen.
Do not beg Jesus to leavebecause his presence disrupts
(10:23):
your comfort.
Worship him even when your herdis gone.
Trust that he sees the biggerpicture.
The herd may run off the cliff, but freedom is on the other
side.
