Have you ever considered what regret sounds like after death? In Luke 16:27-31, Jesus delivers one of Scripture's most sobering warnings through the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. This episode dives deep into this passage where we witness a chilling reality: a man who ignored God during life suddenly becomes desperately evangelistic after death—when it's eternally too late.

We're living in days where eternity feels distant. Our culture drowns in distractions, from endless scrolling to binge-watching, creating generations more concerned with screen time reports than their eternal destination. The delusion of delay has become Satan's masterful weapon. If he can't make you reject God outright, he'll convince you to postpone Him until tomorrow—a tomorrow that's never guaranteed.

What's particularly striking about Jesus' teaching is His emphasis on Scripture's sufficiency. When the rich man begs for a supernatural sign to convince his brothers, Abraham's response is direct: "If they won't listen to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even if someone rises from the dead." This prophetic statement foreshadowed how many would reject Jesus despite His resurrection. Today, people trust AI over Scripture, read horoscopes before opening their Bibles, and chase emotional experiences while neglecting God's written Word. In these end times, miracles don't convert hard hearts—only the Word of God, believed and received, brings salvation.

This message carries urgent weight for believers and unbelievers alike. The door of grace remains open today, but Scripture warns repeatedly about its eventual closing. Are you building your life on the steady rock of God's Word or on shifting sands of signs, feelings, and experiences? Are you ready for eternity, or are you gambling with forever? Listen now and share this truth while there's still time—because once eternity begins, the opportunity for choice ends.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Renewed Mindsets, where we dig into
God's Word with urgency for thedays we're living in.
Today we're looking at Luke, chapter 16, where Jesus warns
that once eternity begins, it'stoo late to repent.
This message will challenge youto live ready, stay faithful
and hold fast the truth.

(00:22):
In these end times.
Let's go, boys.
Hey, welcome back to RenewedMindsets.
I'm Rick and I'm so glad you'rehere.
Today we're focusing on one ofthe heaviest passages in the

(00:45):
entire New Testament Luke,chapter 16, verses 27 through 31
.
It's the conclusion of theparable of the rich man and
Lazarus, and it's devastatingbecause in these verses, Jesus
shows us what eternity lookslike for the unrepentant, he
shows us what regret sounds likein hell and he shows us the

(01:08):
sufficiency of God's word, evenwhen people demand signs.
And here's why this matters forus in the end times.
We're living in a generationthat craves signs, feelings and
experiences but ignores the wordof God.
A generation drowning indistraction, lulled to sleep by

(01:30):
entertainment and convinced thattomorrow is guaranteed.
But Jesus' words cut throughthe noise.
They remind us tomorrow is notpromised and once eternity
begins, it's too late.
So let's read together.
Then the rich man said Please,Father Abraham, at least send

(01:52):
him to my father's house, for Ihave five brothers and I want
him to warn them so that theydon't end up in this place of
torment.
But Abraham said Moses and theprophets have warned them.
Your brothers can read whatthey wrote.
The rich man replied no, FatherAbraham, but if someone is sent
to them from the dead, thenthey will repent for their sins

(02:14):
and turn to God.
But Abraham said If they won'tlisten to Moses and the prophets
, they won't listen even ifsomeone rises from the dead.
That's Luke, chapter 16, verses27 through 31 from the New
Living Translation, and it'ssobering and it's unavoidable
and it's truth.

(02:34):
The rich man who had everythingin life suddenly finds himself
in torment and notice ineternity.
He finally gets concerned forothers, he becomes evangelistic,
he pleads for his brothers, butit's too late.

(02:54):
There's a chilling irony herePeople who never cared about
eternity and life suddenly careonce they step into it.
But the moment of choice isgone.
Hebrews 9.27 says Each personis destined to die once, and
after that comes judgment.
And listeners, friends, familyhere's the end times connection.

(03:23):
Our culture thinks that death isdistant, that life's a game and
we have endless tomorrows.
But the suddenness is the themeof judgment.
Whether it was the flood inNoah's days, the fire in Lot's
day or the trumpet in the daysto come, modern culture

(03:46):
distracts us from eternity.
Think about it.
Your phone you got endlessscrolling.
You got binge watching onNetflix, digital worlds that we
live in.
We're a generation that spendsmore time worrying about their
screen time report than theireternity report.
It's a generation that spendsmore time worrying about their

(04:09):
screen time report than theireternity report.
Who in your life needs to hearthe gospel while there's still
time?
Abraham's answer is sharp,though.
Moses and the prophets havewarned them.
Your brothers can read whatthey wrote.
In other words, the word of Godis enough.
We live in a time when peopleare saying if God would just

(04:33):
give me a sign, I'd believe, butscripture says otherwise.
The Pharisees saw Jesus performmiracles every day and they
still demanded another sign, andwhen he rose from the dead,
they didn't believe anyway.
Today, it's the same.
People chase the supernatural, but they ignore the word.
They consult psychics, theyread horoscopes, they trust AI

(04:57):
predictions and believe theconspiracy YouTubers, but they
dismiss the Bible as outdated.
Even in the church, people arecraving emotional highs,
goosebumps, smoke machines, butthey neglect the written word
that's been preserved forcenturies Roman 10, 7.

(05:20):
So faith comes from hearing.
9107, so faith comes fromhearing, that is, hearing the
good news about Christ.
Faith is not born fromfireworks, it's born from
Scripture.
Are you building a life on thesteady rock of God's Word or on

(05:43):
signs, feelings and experiences?
The rich man begged Abraham forone more chance for his
brothers to see somethingsupernatural so that they would
repent, but Abraham said no.
Now this is where many peoplelive today.
They live in the delusion thatGod will always give them one

(06:04):
more chance.
I'll repent tomorrow.
I'll get serious about God whenI'm older.
I'll start following him afterI've lived a little, but
tomorrow it's not guaranteed.
And delay is disobedience.
Think of our culture.
Death is treated asentertainment.
We watch movies, play videogames.

(06:27):
We scroll past real war andviolence like it's background
noise.
Death seems distant, but it'snot.
Every day, thousands of peopleenter eternity, and most of them
without Christ, In other words, most of them in hell.

(06:50):
Hebrews 3.15 says Today, whenyou hear his voice, don't harden
your hearts as Israel did whenthey rebelled.
The delusion of delay is one ofSatan's greatest weapons.
If he can't get you to rejectGod outright, he'll convince you
to postpone him?
Are you living with a falsesense of tomorrow?

(07:12):
Jesus closes this parable bysaying if they won't listen to
Moses and the prophets, theywon't listen, even if, and the
prophets, they won't listen, even if somebody rises from the
dead.
Now that is prophetic, becausein just a short time, Jesus
himself would rise from the deadand the religious elite, the

(07:32):
very ones who demanded a sign, still refused to refuse to
believe.
This exposes a terrifying truthabout the end times.
Miracles don't convert hardhearts, yeah, Signs don't
transform rebellion.
Only the word of God, believedand received, brings salvation.

(07:57):
And Revelation shows us whathappens when people reject that
word.
Even as God's judgments fall, plagues and earthquakes and fire
, people shake their fists atheaven and curse God instead of
repenting.
This is our world now.
We've seen miracles of medicine, technology, protection.

(08:21):
We've watched Israel restoredas a nation, prophecy fulfilled
before our eyes, and still theworld mocks.
They mock God.
Think about it.
Now People trust the voice ofAI over the voice of Scripture.
It now People trust the voiceof AI over the voice of

(08:43):
scripture.
They'll read their horoscopebefore they open their Bible.
They'll repost spiritual quotesfrom Instagram, but reject the
red letters of Jesus Christ.
Paul warns us in 2 Thessalonians2, verses 10 and 11,.
They perish because they refuseto love the truth and so be
saved.
So God will cause them to begreatly deceived and they will

(09:06):
believe these lies.
This is the hour that we're inpeople.
Truth is available, but peopleare choosing deception.
But people are choosingdeception.
Are you clinging to the truthor are you drifting with the

(09:27):
lies of today?
The warning of Luke 16, 27through 31 is this Once eternity
begins, there's no secondchances.
The cries of the lost come toolate.
The promise is this right now,the word of God is still

(09:48):
speaking, the spirit of God isstill drawing and the door of
grace is still open.
John 5, 24 says I tell you thetruth those who listen to my
message and believe in God whosent me, have eternal life.
They will never be condemnedfor their sins, but they have
already passed from death tolife.

(10:09):
Right now you can cross overfrom death to life, but don't
wait, Don't play games, Don'tassume you have another tomorrow
.
So what does this passage teachus for the end times?
Well, the cries of the lostcome too late.

(10:32):
The word of God is enough.
The delusion of delay is deadly.
And in the last days, the daysthat we're living in, only those
who love the truth will besaved.
This isn't just theology, Hearme.

(10:54):
This is urgency.
If you've been drifting, youneed to repent right now.
If you've been delayingsurrender, right now.
If you've been chasing signs, fall in love with God's word
right now.

(11:15):
Luke 12, 35 and 36 says Bedressed for service and keep
your lamps burning, as thoughyou were waiting for your master
to return from the weddingfeast.
Then you will be ready to openthe door and let him in the
moment he arrives and knocks.
Stay dressed, Stay burning,Stay ready.

(11:38):
Pray with me.
Father, God, we hear yourwarning in this passage.
We feel the weight of eternity.
Forgive us for delay, Forgiveus for distraction, Forgive us
for chasing signs and neglectingyour word.
Today we choose to repent.

(12:01):
Today we choose to repent.
Today we choose to love thetruth.
Today we ask you to use us asmessengers before the door of
grace closes.
Strengthen us to live urgent, holy, uncompromised lives in
these end times.
We ask this in Jesus' mightyname, Amen.

(12:28):
So I got a confession to makehere about this episode.
I have been bogged down at work.
You know what?
I got a million excuses on whythere hasn't been a new episode
in the last couple weeks, andthey all are worthless.
They're worthless excuses.

(12:51):
I want to thank Kimmy forencouraging me with tough love
today to listen to God, tolisten to his voice, so that I
could prepare this message forthis week.
I've been putting it offbecause the world was making so

(13:11):
many demands on my time, but herwords reminded me that
obedience to God can't wait andthat the message that he gives
us has to come before everythingelse.
So for that challenge and thatencouragement, Kimmy, I am truly

(13:34):
grateful.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
