This is about long term pain - not acute injuries. The kind of pain that is relentless and is there for a decade. You have to decide are you going to have a full life (and be in pain) or are you going to sulk on the couch (and be in pain.) At the end of the day, your pain isn't going away so you have to embrace it and make friends with it so you don't look back on your life and believe your physical pain won. Here's me musing about life with my chronic nerve pain (cause from a surgery in 2007). I'm many years into the pain journey and know that when my attitude dips, my pain rises.
