Speaker 1 (00:02):
yo, it's AWL, artist,
and you're back with respecting
perspectives, a podcast wherewe talk about worlds of things
and universes of things, and bigthings, small things, things
that you only think, things thatother people think, things that
you, you all, think about.
(00:23):
You know, man, y'all are here.
Thank you for joining me.
Seriously, this means a lot tome.
I've been working hard to, youknow, get all this together and,
(00:48):
man, just watching the footagefrom the first one and just
thinking about how we can usenew ways to inspire people, you
know new ways to try and reachyou, new ways to try and maybe
break through, you know, to helpyou in a way that you didn't
even know that you needed it.
(01:09):
You know, sometimes the besthelp can come from.
You know directions that wedon't expect it to come from.
You know, man gosh, we aregoing to go over so many
different things and I want totry and make as many points as
(01:30):
possible, kind of like hip hop.
You know, that's why I think Iloved rap music for so long,
because it helps me put a lot ofmessages in a short period of
time, and I'm really going totry and go through as many
(01:52):
topics and subjects that I thinkare worthy of talking about.
You know, everything that I sayon this podcast is, or are,
messages to myself, and you knowwhat.
That's what my music is, if Ihaven't told you already.
(02:15):
I'm a singer-songwriter fromBaltimore, maryland, and I've
been writing music for about 20years now and I'm finally
starting to's.
You know, sonic's wheels arespinning, yeah, it's, it's
working out, but music is whatkept me grounded the whole gosh
(02:38):
darn time.
So I want to thank music forallowing me to be able to do
this and that's some, that'ssome deepness right off the jump
.
So, yeah, you know what?
Let's get into it.
Let's get into something I'vereally been thinking about where
(03:01):
my inspiration comes from andhow to interpret it.
You know, and not just like, take it as something that like
the world's trying to give me,that like I don't even need to
share with anybody.
You know, like it's justsomething personal, but like
that's where the line getsblurred between like an artist
(03:25):
and like the person.
You know, like they kind ofhave like this trifecta of
presence.
So how do you differentiatebetween those?
You know when do I wake up?
(03:45):
And, just you know, think aboutmy, my, my, my day, without you
know, using music to guide me.
Gosh, it's so hard I can'tthink of a time or place that
that has uh occurred, but it's,it's, it's, it's a thing and I'm
(04:07):
I'm super grateful for it anduh, gosh, it's.
It's about where yourinspiration comes from and being
able to get it from thesmallest things.
I think that's when you candifferentiate from a beginning
songwriter.
(04:28):
I guess you could say to someonewho is a little bit more
experienced and the topic can besomething so vague and, at the
same time, very niche, and stillbe able to there's worlds of
(04:55):
things that you don't even knowabout, that I don't even know
about, and it kind of piggybacksto the name of the podcast.
Each world is a differentperspective.
I guess you could say Iremember one time I just really
wanted to create something and Ijust didn't want it to be like
the normal way that I did it,and so I just walked outside, I
(05:17):
picked up a blade of grass and Imade a song and it was.
It was a challenge.
You know I had to really like, put my mind to it and be able to
describe it.
You know beauty can come from somany different things, like
(05:38):
lights, colors, shapes, textures.
You know, when you touchsomething and you're like, yeah,
so it's pretty wild, it makesyou appreciative.
It actually always reminded meof one of my favorite movies,
(06:02):
honey I Shrunk the Kids,remember.
Of one of my favorite movies, honey I Shrunk the Kids,
remember that's like the firstversion of like Ant-Man type,
you know scenario.
But for me and I remember wewent to Disney and they had the
whole thing and I'll neverforget that that was crazy, but
it really it puts you down there.
You know what I mean.
(06:23):
It makes you appreciate thethings that you can't even see.
You know the quantum gosh, there's millions of things just
living around me.
Isn't that wild?
You know it's, it's crazy.
(06:43):
So I'm I'm super appreciative ofmy ability to be able to do
that.
And it doesn't happen all thetime, even a lot.
But I think it was like my goal, I had the intention and that's
what it really came down to.
You know, in my head I toldmyself that that's what was
(07:04):
going to happen.
So I made it happen.
Gosh, that's cool to thinkabout, you know, yeah, and it
really makes me realize that youcan get energy from the most
unexpected things.
You know, like, think about thestars that are like so far away
(07:25):
from you, but just because youcan see them, you know, like,
think about the stars that arelike so far away from you, but
just because you can see them, you know you can appreciate them
, you know you can really likeyou can see them, but like, just
think if you couldn't even seethe stars.
You know, gosh, it makes youthink.
Light.
I'm reading this book aboutlight and how important it is
(07:47):
for our bodies andrevitalization.
I mean, think about the sun.
That is the main thing thatproduces energy for everything
we know.
That's pretty, pretty cool,isn't it?
(08:08):
And it makes you think of, youknow, the small things.
And then it makes you think of,like, the big, the fact that
the universe is like expandingat the speed of light right now.
Right now that motherfucker isflying man.
It makes me think about justtrying to keep an open mind.
(08:31):
Don't put yourself in a box anddon't let anybody else put you
in any type of box, because it'sgoing to distract you from your
original mission.
I feel like sometimes I reallylimit myself.
(08:57):
At times I'll tell myself Ican't do something or I
shouldn't do this, and then Ikind of made it up in my mind.
So I've been really trying tothink about the direction that
I'm going in, you know, and howto get there.
(09:17):
So important, man, I hope youcan take a bit of inspiration
from this.
Yo, take a breath with me for asecond.
Man, sometimes I forget tobreathe, you know, I got to
(09:39):
bring it back, I got to bepresent for a second.
Oh, I'm like a present, youknow.
I mean just sitting there readyto ready to be unwrapped like
man.
Yo, breathing is wild, you know.
Think about the animals thatlive the longest.
(10:01):
They have really, um, low heartrates and their breathing is
really long.
You know, like a whale or likea turtle, you know things like
that.
And then you have like a rabbitor like a cheetah, you know
things that are like, always onthe move, you know, and, uh, wow
(10:24):
, it really makes you thinkabout, you know, the oxygen
that's in the air that you don'teven think about.
You know, man, being present, gosh, I I find myself, you know,
dwindling off into wonderlandsometimes, and then I have to,
like, bring your ass back realquick, you know, gosh, and to be
(10:51):
able to have the mindfulnessyou know to man, to be
disciplined enough, gosh, I hadto think about that.
You know being disciplinedenough to, you know tell
yourself that you need to take abreak, gosh, that can be a
(11:13):
challenge sometimes, you know,Gosh, because there's so many
distractions around us.
You know we are having a hardtime.
You know keeping our, you know, focus and I say that like for
(11:34):
me, but like I know for a factthat's like a collective thing
um, and it happens.
You know you have to.
You have to take that time toeven be in that moment.
You have to think about itahead of time.
It's pretty wild.
(11:55):
And back to the main point, with distractions Got me, man,
it happens a lot, but I thinkI'm getting better.
I think I'm getting better.
You know, it makes me gosh.
(12:17):
It really makes me think aboutmeditation and being able to
meditate and not fall asleep.
I remember that was a challenge.
At first.
I'm like, okay, is that whatwe're supposed to do in here?
But then I, you know, I reallystarted to put some things
(12:39):
together and me and my dad usedto cut the lawn for a Buddhist
temple and they gave us freemembership to it and that was
kind of cool.
I haven't been back in a while, but I really would like to go
back there for sure.
Yeah, we need to take a note ofthat man.
(13:04):
It makes me not get caught inthe past.
You know the old things thatI'm so used to, the things that
I am so inclined to goimmediately to, and I love
(13:25):
nostalgia, like I love thingsthat I remember from when I was
a kid.
You know, gosh, you know I Ilove, uh, theo Vaughn's podcast
and uh, you know, hopefully oneday maybe we'll be able to have
one here, and that's a.
That's on the uh, that's on thewhiteboard in there.
It's named at the top.
(13:46):
So I think it would be cool toGosh, I think it would be so
cool to have someone like thaton Wow.
You know, I'm going to haveguests with me every now and
then.
Then I'd like for y'all tomaybe suggest some, and it would
(14:11):
be pretty cool to be able tohear different, different points
of views on a whole bunch ofdifferent things.
And I'll.
I'll leave you with this.
I learned a word while I waskind of doing the research for
this episode of the podcast, andit was impermanence.
(14:34):
Impermanence and it means onlybeing somewhere for a certain
amount of time, like theunderstanding that you don't
live forever and that you haveto take advantage of every
opportunity that you can.
(14:55):
Man, we're going through abunch of different topics right
now, a bunch of different thingsthat I've been thinking about
and that I think deserve alittle bit of talking, a little
bit of conversation.
And we were talking about thepresent.
A minute ago, any crazy two,you could talk about the present
(15:19):
.
You know, man, present, pastand future.
Gosh Time, what a powerfulthing, you know, and the way
that it moves so cool, isn't it.
And we were talking aboutOpportunities and taking
(15:42):
advantage of them when you comeacross them.
It makes me think about how I,in my mind, I really have to
kind of embrace what's going on.
(16:03):
You know, you have to analyzeand assess, like what's going on
here and then like what's goingon out there, you know, and how
can you kind of tread throughthe world in a way that feels
meaningful to both yourself andthe world as a whole?
(16:24):
You know, yeah, about, you know, being one of the littlest cogs
in a huge machine.
Man, it's wild.
And I think about overcomingfear of failure.
Fear of failure Like you don'tdo it because you already, in
(16:54):
your head, have said that youfail said that you fail, and
that is not the best or mostproductive way of, you know,
analyzing things and thinkingabout them.
It makes me think about.
(17:17):
I want to write a book calledthe Foot of the Bed Theory.
And I used to wake up and thefirst thing I did was I rolled
out of bed, kind of like youknow no purpose to it.
(17:38):
You know that saying, right, you look like you just rolled
out of bed, they say that for areason.
And it got me thinking aboutthat first action that I take in
the day is the most important.
So what I did was I put twothings next to my bed so that I
(18:04):
couldn't roll, like somebookcases or something and I
think that's what they were, bookcases and uh, you know, I
had put put you know lyrics onthem and things like that.
It was basically a table, justso I couldn't just roll out.
And I started waking up and thefirst thing that I would do was
(18:27):
, you know, I would kind ofhoist myself up and kind of push
.
You know, let me show you realquick.
You know, you got to kind ofpush yourself.
You got to kind of pushyourself and that first action,
(19:02):
that first push is anopportunity for you to tell
yourself that you are going totake action with the day rather
than just rolling into it.
Seize the day.
I know it sounds kind of cliche, but man, carpe disum.
(19:22):
Seizing the day, man, man, think about that.
I'm remembered of a time that Itook an opportunity and it
really did change the trajectoryof my career, and that was
buying a VIP ticket to MacMiller's concert in Baltimore at
(19:46):
Soundstage and writing a songto him and kind of going off the
cuff for some of it too.
And I remember that nightvividly, just like it was
yesterday, and I knew that.
(20:06):
I knew what was going to happenafter that and once I, you know
, sang him the song, I was ableto develop a connection with him
and then open up for him whenhe came back.
Man, I'm so grateful that Itook advantage of that
(20:33):
opportunity Because it inspiredme to just reach my idols.
And you should.
I mean, we have these computersin our hands where you can
literally contact anyone.
If you really want to, you'lldo it, you'll find a way, you'll
(21:02):
do it, you'll find a way.
I'll mention someone else, agood friend of mine and another
hip-hop artist, Caskey, fromdown in Orlando, Florida.
Actually, there's going to be asummit coming up in, let's see,
june 22nd and 23rd, or June15th and 16th One of those
weekends and it is a bunch ofartists from all over the world
(21:27):
in one place, you know, learninghow to get their name where
they want it.
So it's pretty cool.
Caskey and Anonymass areputting that on, so I'm excited
for that.
That's a.
That's in a month.
Caskey and Anonymass areputting that on, so I'm excited
for that.
That's uh, that's in a month,month and a half.
Um, and back to to opportunitiesand and and making sure you
(21:53):
realize when, when you have themtoo, you know, sometimes you
don't even notice an opportunityyou're gonna flies, flies past
you.
You know, like what was thatman?
The point, though, I wanted tomake with that was reach out to
your idols, you know.
Find a way to reach themsomehow, because I'm telling you
(22:13):
, once you do, it'll make youfeel like more is possible.
That'll like open up the thegate for just understanding that
that person.
You know a Mac and a Caskey,You know they.
They put the work in to getwhere they're at.
(22:36):
You know, you see theseovernight success and I guess
they're at.
You know, you see theseovernight success and I guess
they're also taking advantage ofan opportunity.
But maybe the opportunity, youknow, it's like risk versus
reward.
Oh man, think about that.
Risk versus reward.
I think that is like the lifescale.
That's what that is right there.
(22:58):
You know, I think I've beentaking more risks recently, but
risks that I know are going tomean a lot to me in the end.
You know, at least I can saythat I did.
I tried, man, taking advantageof an opportunity when you can.
(23:25):
Uh-huh, all right, here we go.
Yo, I want to get into somethingthat I'm excited to present
(23:46):
here.
So I'd like to introduce theRespecting Perspectives Hotline.
We need that sound effect, playthat sound effect, all right,
okay.
So what I want you all to do isyou're going to use this in
many ways.
We're going to use this in manyways.
We're going to use this in manyways, and I'm going to have you
call in and ask questions.
You know, just kind of, maybeget deep with me a little bit.
(24:09):
Tell me about something you'regoing through, maybe an
achievement that you just got.
I want this to be like, uh,just like shout out central too
you know what I mean Like upyour homie or something Like hit
me, I'll be like yo, we got ashow tonight.
Blah, blah, blah.
You know what I mean.
Be out there, that's what I'mtalking about.
Oh, okay, you ready, you gotyour pens and your pencils and
(24:34):
we are in 1970 still, yes, yes,we are Okay.
1870, still yes, yes, we areOkay.
It's 443, and we'll put it downhere.
We'll figure out a cool way todo that.
Okay, 443-292-2677.
(24:56):
There we go.
Okay, one more time, eventhough it's there.
292-2677.
That's got a twang to it, don'tit?
443-292-2677.
On the hotline, we're going tohave all kinds of people.
I'm excited for that.
I'm excited.
I need to find out if you cantext it.
(25:16):
I think you can text it too.
We'll figure that out, we'llfigure that out.
We'll figure that out, and ifnot, we'll figure out a way to
do that, because that's prettycool too.
Just want you to be able to doit.
You know what I mean.
Yeah, yeah, this is going tohelp us stay connected with
everybody and a way for you tobe a part of things a little
(25:39):
more, a little extra.
You know what I mean.
A little extra credit.
You know what I mean.
A little credit extra and youcan give me suggestions on
people who are going to come andsit and we're going to talk
with.
We'll talk with them, you know,we'll go back and forth, okay,
and gosh, yeah, maybe even whenyou call, we'll play it like
(26:02):
we'll play it, you know, whilewe're up here.
Yeah, that way maybe you canshout out a business or
something.
You know.
I mean, get your name out there, get your name out there.
That's gonna be a way for meand everyone I know and all the
homies, to get your name out.
Okay, because I'm pushing it.
(26:23):
All right, reel it in, reel itin, reel it in.
Yes, let me just take this in,let me just take this in, let me
just take this in.
That's the hook right there.
That's the hook we were talkingabout earlier.
You know conversations, justhooks.
(26:47):
You know they just pop in yourhead and you're like what do we
do?
What do we do?
What do I do with this hook?
Oh, nice, all right, let's.
You know what I mean.
Let's, let's go to the side fora sec.
Okay, let's, you know what Imean.
Let's go to the side for a sec.
Okay, let's park it for asecond.
All right, okay, because we'regoing to talk a little bit about
(27:08):
building confidence, oh, justlike saying that.
You know you got to say theword confidence with confidence.
I think that's what it feltlike, at least.
Seriously, though, you know youhave to find ways to be
(27:29):
confident in yourself, beconfident in the people around
you, be confident in the process.
You be confident in the process, man.
Sometimes you have to sit andyou have to practice
self-compassion.
(27:50):
You know, really likeunderstanding yourself and what
you think your role is.
You know who cares what theywant you to do.
It's about what you want you todo.
(28:11):
You know, man, you got to reallylearn how to love yourself.
I know it sounds cheesy.
Listen, bring the cheese plateout real quick, let them eat
that, and then we can learn tolove yourself, and then we can
learn to love yourself.
(28:31):
I mean, as I wrote music, Istarted to realize, man, I was
thinking of my music as cheesy, and it really wasn't, though it
was just about a different topic, that I really wasn't too
versed, just about a differenttopic, that I really wasn't two
verse team, and that was loves.
(28:52):
So you know, it sounded acertain way in the beginning.
Now, man, I lead with that youknow.
That's that, like it's taughtme gosh taught me so much.
Like it's taught me, goshtaught me so much about myself.
(29:14):
My writing has, and mancouldn't be more grateful for
that.
You know.
It makes me think about how, inorder to build confidence, you
have to identify some of yourtalents, some of your let's see
here some of the pros thatyou've put in the practice.
(29:35):
Sometimes you have to trythings just to realize that
that's not what you want.
Not what you want, you know, but you got to always be.
You know you have to be open totaking suggestions from other
(29:57):
people.
And you know, not everybody, everybody's not right and
everybody's not wrong.
You know, it's like we're allkind of guessing out here.
At the same rate, you know, butI think you have to in order to
achieve success, you have tovisualize it first.
(30:22):
That has to be your.
You know your long-term or evenshort-term point.
You know, when you're going inthe car and you pull out your
Garmin, you pull out your GPS.
That's what we do, and you haveto put in that second point.
You have to know where you wantto go.
At least you ain't made itthere yet, but you're getting
(30:45):
that roadmap, and that's whatyou have to do.
You have to think about youroadmap and you have to.
That's what you have to do.
You have to think about youknow, you have to visualize it.
Sometimes you have to draw itout.
That's what I have to do withmusic.
I, I'm, I'm really just likevisualize once I put that pen to
paper.
Man, that's a visualization.
Oh, makes me think about whenI'm not writing music and when
(31:10):
I'm just writing a poem orsomething, or just words on a
page, and that can help getsomething out.
Some of the smallest things.
I'm not the best drawer.
(31:30):
I'd like to practice that alittle more, but I got homies
who are who do that.
You know, and it makes me thinkabout you, you, you, you really
have to learn to be able toexpress yourself.
To be able to express yourself, you know, to get your thoughts
out there and for them to be nottaken, as you know, out of
(31:54):
context or in a different waythan you intended.
Man, think about like we're in2024.
You know, like being able toexpress yourself, actually,
right now, like expression, islike a thing, like it's, it's
huge.
You know, like you really canlike express the things you like
things you don't like, you know.
(32:16):
It doesn't mean that, likeother people have to agree with
you, you know, or disagree withyou, like, even just like being
able to like, say it or, likeyou know, get that out is, yeah,
that's powerful.
So I'm glad that I can do thatkind of piggyback off that
confidence is like a stronghouse, you know, you got to
(32:42):
build it, oh and, and you haveto build your body, you have to
build your mind, you have tobuild your spirit, you got to
build your emotions, you got tobuild yourself a thick skin.
(33:05):
And I remember when I was asalesman door door to door one
of those jobs right out ofcollege and man, I heard like
500 no's in one day and I waslike searching, chasing for that
one, you know, but I realized Ijust wasn't passionate about it
(33:27):
.
You know, yeah, and you know Ididn't have my heart in it and I
had to figure that out.
Like a few jobs I'm like whyisn't this work?
So, uh, luckily I figured outthat I wanted to, you know,
write music and be a musicianand turn that into.
(33:49):
You know, the thing that Istand behind?
Woo, that's heat right thereDropping gems on them.
So we're talking about health.
That's what we're talking about.
All right, I'm not going to thesecret's out, all right, people
(34:10):
are talking about health.
You know, you got to be healthythese days, you got to take
care of yourself.
You know, maybe you can havethat like that, like half a
Twinkie after like 12.
But like only on like aThursday.
You know what I mean.
Okay.
I mean Okay.
I mean Jenny can have that.
(34:30):
You know what I mean.
That that half, that halfReesey cup, if she wants it.
You know I can't.
Who am I to say, you know, between her and talking about
mental health?
Ooh, you know what's going oninside here.
(34:50):
You know we're talking aboutphysical health, your body.
You know the cells.
Think about it.
There's like a whole universelike living in you and on you.
You are like a bunch of smallthings that are just made to put
(35:11):
together the right way.
Man, we were talking about thatbefore a little bit ago.
Man, talking about emotionalhealth.
You know where's your heart at.
Is it in, is it in it?
You know what's it?
If it's in it, what's it in itfor?
You know who's it in it for?
(35:32):
Man, your heart can be a funnything, can't it gosh like you're
like feeling like your head'sone way, like heads over here
which are like hearts over here, and then they switch spots
sometimes.
That's, that's good song,songwriting material for sure.
Take a note of that.
(35:54):
Uh, let's see here back to goshyour health, spiritual.
You know.
I mean I try and pray every nowand then.
You know, I guess, like I praywhen I'm like asking for
something I don't know, I just Idon't think I do it at the
(36:16):
right times.
You know, I think it's reallyimportant, something I need to
work on, I think.
Just talking to the sky, youknow, know, having some words
(36:40):
with the clouds, you know, man, being healthy is hard these days
, ain't it like you go into amean your reese's has like 500
different things, like no, likereese's has its own aisle.
Now you walk into like thegrocery store and there's like a
reese's aisle like with acardboard cutout.
(37:01):
Oh, I'm telling you, I saw itthe other day.
Seriously, yeah, man, but I'mtrying to stay out of there,
that aisle for sure, or, let me,you know, I'll walk through it
every now and then, you know, don't get me wrong, but yeah, I
was, you know, like I, I'll,I'll keep it.
I work in my truck, so you knowmy, my side I mean.
(37:23):
Well, actually my real thing ishvac and I clean, clean and
maintain heaters and airconditioners.
I don't talk about it that much, but that's the bread and
butter and that's what gets thebills paid.
You know, I get to walk into anold lady's house and be able to
fix her heat or air conditionerand be like Superman up in that
(37:45):
man Staying healthy heat or airconditioner, and be like
superman up in that broo boomman, staying healthy.
You gotta, you gotta have atight sleep schedule.
You know, I mean some of y'allgot your, you know your apple
watch and it's like, hey, yougotta sleep.
You know, I mean you're like,oh, I'm gonna sleep.
You know, I mean they say youshould have eight hours, right,
(38:13):
I mean, I don't know who that is, it's somewhere.
But yeah, I think, personally, like six, I'll go with six
Honestly, Because like you sleeptoo long though you know what I
mean.
You're like you're groggy.
You're like you're groggyTalking about rolling out the
(38:35):
bed.
You know, to talk about yourphysical and your emotional and
your mental health has to dowith a lot with, like, the
stresses in the world and beingable to manage them in the right
(38:56):
way.
Another segment we'll talk abouttime management and the best
ways to try and do it, thingsthat I've done that maybe have
helped.
Thinking about it makes you.
It really makes you Think aboutlike that 7-Eleven, or like
that giant you know, whatever,or actually I don't know if I
(39:17):
can say their names or what, butwhatever, we'll figure that one
out.
But forget those places youwant to find like those, those
natural things, those naturalhighs, those natural painkillers
.
That's where it's at.
Like, earlier, taking a breath, just got me one Bang.
(39:42):
Thank you, bam.
Now you're taking them, youknow, oh, and it's about like
mood enhancers.
But there's so many things outthere.
You know what I mean that likeyou know, like John's got that,
joe's got this, chris got that,we got that bum, and you're like
(40:02):
you know, you don't even knowthat you know, so you got to be
careful.
I mean, I grew up in Baltimore,so there it's got its fair
share of non-natural painkillers.
All right, let's just get rightto.
(40:35):
You know, but you got to findthe ways that you know you get
it from from the earth.
You know, man, man, like someyoga, do a little yoga shoot,
10-15 minutes in the morning, yo, that'll change your life.
Get that yoga life in you.
You know what I mean.
Yep, join the yoga club, orsomething better.
One class, you'll walk past theZumba.
You'll be like, oh shoot, I'mbooking that next week.
Zumba, zumba.
(41:01):
You know, and it has a lot to dowith that regiment, you know,
and staying consistent, likehaving an actual schedule, is
really, really important.
Now, like even if you're, youknow it doesn't need to be exact
either, like like the reminderson your phone or like your
calendar on your phone.
Make a check lesson, just startknocking things off.
(41:25):
You know, I'll tell you, thoughthere's one thing every day on
the checklist, and that's makingmoney.
All right, all right, back totopic.
Back to topic here Discipline, man, discipline.
(41:48):
Let me think about beingdisciplined, you know.
Think about like the best, likecanine friend, like they, they
get, they get, they have themost, you know, the most
obedience, the most discipline.
I remember I used to workdowntown at the stadium and they
would hide something in thatstadium and they would let a
(42:09):
german shepherd, you know, through the front gate and it
would find whatever the thingwas that was hiding in a whole
stadium.
Just think about like that, being able to like, I mean, and
like, think of all the thingsthat are like in the air, like,
especially like at a stadium too.
(42:30):
You know, man, that was wild tosee that I was like yo, I need
to step my game up, you know.
It makes you, it makes youunderstand that you have to have
(43:02):
regular, or not quarterly, buta certain amount of time.
You want to assess yourself.
You want to take a visualassessment, like you got to
assess yourself.
You really do have to like.
Sometimes, you do have to likelook in the mirror and be like
okay, you know what are somethings that we need to work on,
not really like with like mostlylike your physical look, but
like more like you know theactions that you're going to
take, you know, in the comingfuture.
(43:23):
So, assessing yourself, youknow, and don't be too hard on
yourself either.
I know it's easy to do thatMaybe small increments, small
goals in order to reach largerones.
And I think one of the mostimportant things is learning
(43:51):
when to say no and likeunderstand, like when your body
has reached, like a certainpoint, or like knowing, I guess,
when to like maybe ask for help.
You know, I think sometimes weall have a hard time of knowing
(44:12):
when you know to tell someonethat, like you're at your lowest
.
You know the concept of it is,uh, I guess it's a part of you
know, it's a part of life.
You know, man, so many thingsthat are worth diving into.
(44:35):
And here we are for anothersegment.
You know, and further ado, I'dlike to introduce Mr
Organization, ooh, mr Organized.
You know anybody who's likesuper, super organized.
You know what I mean.
(44:55):
They got everything up to a T.
You know, think about, like, what that takes and how much
planning.
And you know they're like yougot an assistant and then the
assistant's got the assistant.
You know, but guess what, youdon't have an assistant, so
you're going to have to be yourown assistant.
Okay, you got to assistyourself sometimes.
(45:15):
You know what I mean.
You know, wow, sometimes you gotto get rid of the extra stuff.
You know that's around you andin you.
You know, sometimes you knowclutter, there's stuff, and
(45:39):
there's times when I'll like sitsomething down and I'll be like
you get that later.
You know Then, like I'll putsomething like right near, I'll
be like you know later Then I'llput something right in there.
I'll be like you know.
Then there's like 10 things andyou're like how the hell did I
lose track of like 10?
10 glasses of water?
How'd that even happen, youknow?
So I try and stay.
(45:59):
You know, keep my area clean.
You know, remember when youwere a kid and you were in
kindergarten they were like keepyour area clean, andrew.
Remember when you were a kidand you were in kindergarten
they were like keep your areaclean, andrew, just throwing
stuff around.
But now I know better.
I think I guess I do At least alittle bit.
(46:28):
Man, you have to get rid of theold stuff To make room for the
new.
You know that's just how itworks.
To the left, to the left, oh,and to the left you got to have
that whiteboard.
All right.
To the left you got the daily,in the middle you got the weekly
, and on the right there you gotthe monthly.
You know, break it down.
You know you got like the shortterm.
(46:49):
And on the right there you gotthe monthly.
You know, break it down.
You know you got like the shortterm, like the midterm and then
that long term.
You know you got to use your Iuse reminders, like a mofo in my
phone, okay, built right inJust reminding me that's my
system, right there.
That thing in my pocket Took awhile to figure that out, though
(47:12):
.
You know I was playing on itfirst and I'm like you know what
, let me start using this thing.
I should be using this thing.
So back to setting reminders androutines.
You know that every day, thatevery day grinds, you know, from
(47:40):
one to the next, to the next.
I mean, it's like when I'mmaking music, sometimes, like
I'll make one song that, likeman, that song will carry me
through like seven songs, youknow, you know, and I'll have
like seven made and I'll be likedamn.
And then, like I'll go back andlisten to that first one,
though, and that I don't know,it drove me to, you know, to
make all those others.
Next thing, you know, you knowyou got the tape, you got the
(48:04):
album man, and I'm excited to bedropping stuff all year, all
year, with the flavor in yourear.
Oh, you know, I mean you got toget prioritized out here.
Prioritization, say that, saythat loud.
(48:28):
Prioritization, say, say that, say it out loud.
Prioritization, say it out loud.
Say I must prioritize,prioritize yourself.
You know you got to have likethe high, just like the daily,
weekly and monthly.
You got to have the high, themid and the low.
You know, because you don'twant to be out here, you know
(48:53):
working on like low prioritystuff, that is like getting in
the way of the high priority, you know.
So you have to, like thatthat's a challenge, figure out
not just like wanting somethingbut like how much do you want it
?
You know, like you know whatwill you either like put
(49:16):
yourself through or put thepeople right through, or, you
know, be able to, you know, express yourself in a way that
you know you're getting yourthought across and you're making
a clear and concise point andyou don't want the low end stuff
(49:39):
messing with the high end stuff.
Then you got the stuff in themiddle.
You know that kind of sitsaround.
Something that's huge too, isnot just using like a to-do list
but like a checklist.
But like you got to stay on topof it.
You know you can't just like,oh, just let me just add this to
the list and not be, you got it.
You got to go and check thelist.
(49:59):
You know a checklist.
There's two parts to achecklist writing it down on the
checklist and then stretchingit off to a checklist.
Writing it down on thechecklist and then Stretching it
off of the checklist.
You know you got to go down therow.
Okay, remember that Two things,oh man.
(50:23):
And don't you know what?
Let me, yo don't sweat thesmall stuff, really don't sweat
the small stuff, the things thatyou kind of make a big deal of.
(50:44):
It's hard not to.
But I find that when I can focuson the things that really are
going to help me grow as aperson, they're going to help me
learn as a person, they'regoing to help me really just be
(51:10):
the best version of myself thatI can.
And it takes, you know it takeswork.
It's not going to happen easy,it's not going to happen
overnight, and anything that isworth it, you know, takes time.
I appreciate y'all.
(51:34):
Taking the time to be here withme makes me I think a lot about
gratitude when I'm doing thispodcast and the right way to
show it.
You know that's not just like atell it thing, that's a show it
(52:00):
thing.
Being grateful for the peoplearound you, being grateful for
your family, your friends, beinggrateful for the process, being
grateful for the process.
You know I'm grateful for theposition that I've been able to
(52:24):
put myself in to reach people, you know, with a little
organization.
So you know, now I know I cando it Back to that checklist.
You know, now I know I can doit Back to that checklist.
You know, man, and I'm supergrateful for my old self and the
(52:50):
mistakes that I made and that Ihad to make in order to learn
the right way and to be able tobe here and talk to you.
I'm grateful for each and everyposition I can take sitting in
(53:15):
this chair.
I'm grateful for the fact thatwe can have different
perspectives.
We're not all just one line ofthought, there's just thoughts
bouncing around.
I think it's important to showgratitude, not just talk about
(53:37):
it.
So thank you for joining me forthe second installment of
Respecting Perspectives podcast.
I'll catch y'all on the flipside.
Hey, walt Artis, out baby boyWant that?
(53:58):
Outro Picks plastic, shakingdeep enacting dress dude.
Oh, all right, I got a readingfor y'all From Rick Rubin and
(54:19):
his book the Creative Act A Wayof being.
Highly recommend Greatexpectations.
When beginning a new project,we're often met with anxiety.
It visits almost all of us, nomatter how experienced,
successful or well prepared wemight be In facing the void.
(54:43):
There is a tension of opposites.
There is an excitement for thepossibility something great may
be realized and a dread it mightnot, and the result is out of
our control.
The weight of our expectationscan grow heavy, as does the fear
that we are not up to the taskat hand.
(55:03):
What if we can't pull it offthis time?
What helps to keep theseworries at bay and move forward
as a trust in the process, man, trust the process out here.
Okay, I'm gonna try and help youas much as I can out here.
(55:24):
Alright, thanks for joining me,until next time.

(56:51):
you got got to learn.
That's how you're going tolearn.
If you listen, you can't learnwhen you're talking, I mean, you
can, but you're only teachingyourself.
You know, got to learn fromother people, other mistakes
that are made around you.
I'm just trying to get as muchinformation in as possible.
Really, oh damn, okay, that'stoo much information.
(57:14):

it.
All, right, hello.
