Septembre 1980 - En voulant effectuer des travaux d'agrandissement de sa maison, une dame découvre un squelette sous les racines d'un arbre. Qui est-il ? Que fait-il sur son terrain ? L'escouade des crimes contre la personne de la région de Québec fait enquête et un coroner est chargé de faire la lumière sur cette mystérieuse découverte. Avec l'aide des archives, de l'enquête du coroner, de témoignages et des documents publics à disposition, Annie et Jean-Philippe vont tenter de faire le tour des hypothèses, pouvant expliquer cette macabre découverte.
