Then I got really busy. So 6 of
these episodes actually never made it to the
podcast feed. The good news is we've uploaded
all 6 episodes for your summer listening pleasure,
so please enjoy
retro game redux the lost levels.

(00:24):
Today on the show, we'll be talking about
retro game guide and walk throughs. We'll also
be talking about our future gaming goals for
20 24,
fan games tributes and they're possible and dubious
the,
and lastly,
we explore the origins of our motto, keep
on gaming.

(01:04):
Welcome back to the Retro game Redux podcast.
Its episode
18. My name is Scuba salt. Aka a
Steve Cr. I am here with John Kirby,
aka the curb.
How you doing curb?
I'm doing well. How about you, man? It's
been... Well, it's been about a couple of
weeks actually for this what's since the last

(01:25):
episode, but
Yeah, we're back. We're better than ever, and
it's good to have you with me again.
Good to have me with you. Okay. I'm
I'm happy to be with you again. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, you know, I had a busy
week last week, and, you know, III
just did not
unfortunately have time to...
Do any podcasting.
But yeah. We're back again, and we're gonna,

(01:48):
you know, try and keep keep this train
rolling, keep keep things
consistent,
because... Yeah. You know, it's fun to do
this. And the more we do it, the
better we get at it? Oh, yes.
How get better what time? That was the
last 2 weeks been for you.
It's been actually pretty good.
I've been kinda getting the goals of 20

(02:09):
24.
Kinda put into into perspective the first perspective
listed. You know, and we'll talk about that
during the podcast
couple of. This is the podcast
during
we'll talk about that later tonight. Okay.
Okay.
Alright. Well, you got some goals going. Yeah.

(02:29):
I mean, I haven't really been doing much.
Gaming wise except for...
My my my continued playthrough through through Dragon
quest 5, which... Yes. I how's that been
going for you. Well, it's been good. It's
been long. You know,
it it's taken
quite a few streams. Like, I think a...
Like,

(02:50):
we're we're probably at, like, I'm almost a
month of... Worth of streams. Like, not every
every day, but quite a few hours put
into the game
brand
the thing that has been making it easy,
which we are gonna talk about tonight.
Yeah.
I used a walk through. And it's the

(03:11):
first time I've really... Like, actually, it's the
second time I think I've used it, like,
very
liberally
during a playthrough on stream.
You know? U.
The the first time I did it because,
you know,
within the culture of twitch streaming

(03:33):
in in the retro game sort of thing,
well even just any twitch thing. Like, there's
sort of AAA
culture of
I I don't wanna call it tri, but
there's a culture of excellence.
Of eli, if you will. I don't think
it has to be Eli. I think it's
people playing the game the way they want.
And

(03:54):
it...
But it might seem like
sometimes,
playing a game with a walk through or
using a cheat or asking for help is
not as sort of
You know, IIII
don't know that it's as interesting as figuring
it out
on the fly. Mh. You know? Like... Yeah.

(04:16):
If someone knows the answers, then there's not
as much struggle.
Like, and I I don't I I don't
wanna say which is better, but I can
just say with what's better for me. And
I played so many games blind.
Mh.
Like, I don't know.
I guess,
and Oc of time,
earth bound.

(04:37):
Actually, no. Earth bound, I used the... I
I used the walk through that came with
the game. Yeah. So did I, Like, like,
first time playing the game. I was like,
it was right there. Or might as well
use it. They wanted... They must have wanted
me to use... Go, a okay, a player's
got to play this for taking a game
of must be must be really complicated.
Yeah. I don't know. But, like, I I

(04:57):
never used to use them on stream? Because
I'm like, well, who wants to watch somebody
just follow follow a recipe, follow directions.
What. Yeah You know, a lot of these
games, it's like,
after the All of just, you know, oh
I'm streaming, You know, I'm having fun playing
games for the first time on the Internet,
you know, that sort of war but thin

(05:17):
after a while. It's like, because not all
retro games are good.
Yeah. Not re not all retro games, sir
created equal as far as, you know, ease
of of of getting into them and figuring
things out. You know, some some are easy
to to to work out, and some are
just tooth and op obvious.
That's the right word way to use the

(05:38):
word, but it's it's it's very ob too
and, you know, how it approaches, you know,
2 1 how you... It wants its players
to experience the game.
Yeah.
Why do you think that is?
I don't know, It could just be a
mindset of, you know, the developers and how
they design their games and, you know, it...
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I can... Some companies do it

(06:00):
really well and how they show you how
to play the game, you know, with with
the mechanic. Like Super Mario brothers and, you
know, and Mega man or Mega man x.
You know, they they have these introductory levels
that kinda get you used the game. It's
you know, and then others it's just like,
other games will throw off in the deep
and go, here you go. If have fun
figuring it out.

(06:22):
Right. You know?
Yeah. The greatest games
teach you
by by bike by playing. You know? Mh.
You're in there.
Like, okay. The the best example I can
think of is
Super Mario Brothers 1, obvious. Yes. The first
1. Absolutely. So like, you know, what you're

(06:42):
doing is, like, that first level that at
that that that... It's like you're not in
danger. You're just standing there.
Yeah. And you're like, well, I guess I
should try and walk to the right? Let
me press a button or or a direction.
See what happens. Yeah. And then there's a
question block.
Yeah. You know, like,
think about it. Like, in 19 85 or

(07:04):
whatever like...
How would you...
How would you tell the player? There might
be something in here.
So
So like,
put a question mark on it.
Yeah. Why not. Like, you know, it's a
mystery. Let's figuring out, like, you know, it
it it was the type of game.
You know, that that wasn't designed to suck

(07:25):
quarters out of you. It it was more
designed to like, let's let's play a game
together. Let's have fun.
You know.
I'm not sure if it was...
If you... I don't know. I I don't
know if I
exactly agree with that.
Because
it was from a time when
that that game also existed as an arcade
game.

(07:46):
And it was also
made by people who,
you know, Nintendo's
biggest success before Mario,
was obviously, the Donkey kong games. Yeah. That's
true.
And and this was just sort of, like,
the next step, I guess.
But
you know, like, I I do think it's

(08:08):
that arcade mindset that that prevailed through,
most of the eighties.
And and
especially in North America, And then in and
then, you know, we've talked about this before.
In in the nineties,
games got easier in Japan,
and some sometimes in America,

(08:29):
but, the mindset change from how can we
get them to
put another quarter in the machine? Right. So
how can we get them to,
buy this game
at
from from the experience of renting the game
of blockbuster or like, a any other video
store. Yeah. How do we get them to

(08:50):
invest in this platform?
Right. That way that we're putting out to
the masses?
Yeah.
And, like, all all of it was was
money driven. And and, you know, to a
point still is, like, or absolutely.
But not in the sense of, like, we're
making money through quarters or we're making money
through,
you know,

(09:11):
through through the game sales.
Now it's like, people make money through subscriptions.
And micro transactions and. Yes.
But There's the whole another topic in its
own. You know, the the other the others
thing that we've talked about is...
If the game is too easy, you won't
buy the official strategy guide.

(09:33):
Right, or you won't call the
remember the Nintendo helpline line? Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. There would be no reason for
them to call for you to call that
line. And spend money on calling them 1
900 number just to... To get some help
on that, you know? U. Did you ever
do that? No. I never did. No. It
was tempting. There were there were times is

(09:53):
tempting,
but then,
the point never came up to call it.
It was just... Yeah.
I was I I was just AAA
kid who was just determined to beat the
game no matter what without getting anyone's help
or maybe get some of my friends to
help.
I would you know, I I was You
know, I I didn't really

(10:16):
have
that many friends who had the same games
as me. It's like, we would all get
different games so we could trade them.
But as a result,
nobody
nobody really asked each other for help back
in in those days. I guess this is
a product of like where I grew up,
And you know, the mindset around it.
Yeah. People kinda surround yourself with too. But,

(10:37):
yeah, Like, you know, stuff like Nintendo power
and the strategy guides,
they were huge sellers for people who could
afford them.
Like, we... I never had... I I never
had the money to buy that stuff. I'm
like, I'm just gonna buy the game, and,
I'm so happy to have that.
So all those official...

(10:59):
Well, there's a official ones from Nintendo, and
then there was a few other, like,
companies who who just, like, they broke their
own. I guess like... Yeah. Pre P or
P, or 1 that comes to mind. Yeah.
I know they had some...
They did a lot of the up Playstation
era,
strategy guides from what I remember.
Yeah. Yeah. I have the

(11:20):
I have 1 from, hold on. Let me
let me just grab it. 1 sec. Yeah.
I have 1 from,
Is it Brady games? You
for I forgot about brady games. Yeah. They
were they were totally another competitor in that
market for sure. Yeah. And I had... I...
It's for at it's actually for Metal Gear

(11:41):
solid too. Nice.
I never looked at it while I was
playing the game.
Like, actually, once I tried to look at
it, but it's like,
it was just so like,
weird till to look at a book.
Because I never used the book.
I would always use the
like, I started... Okay. I started using...

(12:04):
Walk throughs back in the late nineties or
early 2 thousands.
Okay. Because you could download them
off the Internet. And I think maybe before
that on Bb.
Of B. Okay. Yeah. So they were just
text files that people would write and they
had their email address and it's... Like, hey,
if you will have any corrections or if
you if you know how to beat this

(12:24):
part of the game which I don't, Like,
you know, email me.
Like at my
Aol account or whatever.
Right.
So, yeah. Those started popping up when, most
more people got the Internet. Right. And I
game facts kinda popped up and that that
was... That quickly became. Like, the go to

(12:47):
resource for, like, community written, you know, strategy
guides.
Yeah. I use that all the time and...
Thing I like about game facts is they
were the... I think 1 of the first,
if not the first
to actually have, like,
it be a...
Thing
multimedia
experience where it's not just a text file.

(13:08):
It's like, this is a series... This is
a web page that has, like,
you know, you can go to different chapters.
You can see pictures of the maps and
that aren't just like,
little text text based drawings.
Right. Right. The ask drawings. That those are
a really fun to highlight. You get to
really see the creativity

(13:28):
Yeah. Of the... All of those authors doing
that.
But it it really opened up when video
started, like, when Youtube became
real like, a a ubiquitous and
you know, just Nat, you know, I look
up walk through now for some games, and
it's just a video of somebody playing it.
Yeah. Just so here's how it's done here.

(13:50):
Let me just show you the gameplay.
Yeah. Instead of just, you know, describing how
to do it, and, you know, kinda let
you figure out. Was just... Here, you know,
it's kind of a show not to, you
know, not tell anymore. Well, I... You know,
and sometimes I like that. Sometimes I like
that. You know what I really like though?
There's this 1 Youtube channel called You can
beat video games. You can beat video games.
Can beat Video games...

(14:11):
Alright He's Alright... There's no way I can
beat video games. Oh, yes, You can. Oh,
yeah. You can.
That's awesome. Yeah. I remember, like, you remember
achievement hunter. Right? You probably heard of them
or maybe seeing 1 or 2 of the
videos Right? No, I haven't. I maybe no.
Okay.
Roost achievement monitors part part of rooster teeth.
They're... I think they've stopped, they've closed up

(14:33):
shop for, achievement hunter. Yeah. Part of what?
Rooster teeth. What who did record
them either? No. You ever heard of the
red versus blue series that, you, I used
platelet, completely different universe cars. Okay. Alright. Yeah.
That's okay. But, yeah.
Before they, you know, went into their kind
of modern age, they they started off.

(14:56):
Doing achievement hunting for, like, you know, retro
achievements and stuff on the older consoles.
Like, kinda showed. Like, the actual retro achievement
Yeah. Like oh, like, the xbox
xbox 03:60 achievements.
That's kinda where they got their start doing
halo achievements.
I would show achievements. So just a just

(15:16):
regular x xbox achievements. Yeah. Xbox achievements. Yeah.
They would show you how it how to
do it. They did to record videos on
how to do that. At, and they kinda
branch off to do other things as well.
But that's kinda how they got their start
showing people how to how, you know, how
to get these achievements. And I thought that
was really cool M
M.

(15:36):
So
how did you... What what...
I guess, Earth bound probably would have been
the first... Was that the first? A guide
that you used?
Oh, yeah. That was the first guide that
I used. It was pretty 19 95.
You know, that's when I got it for
Christmas. It's
and
that... I'd never
I'd never had a strategy guide like, that

(15:58):
I owned. Like, I had I had friends
who had, like,
told me that they had a strategy Got.
Never really never really got to properly use
1. I'd always like plants over the shoulders
as they looked at theirs, but, Never had
1 of my own until Earth bound came
out.
And so earth brown comes out, it comes
with the guy? And what do they call
it?

(16:18):
Players guide, I think. Guide. Yeah. Guide. Yeah.
So so when you saw that, Mh. Did
you... Like,
Did you read it before you played the
game or as you were playing the game?
Oh that I did it to... I I
did it before. I was like, what he's...
The initial shock of what is this huge
box?

(16:39):
And then, you know, you see the game.
It's like, that can't be a this can't
be just for this a small game. What's
going on here? Then you you you pull
out the strategy guide and then you're a
maze. It's like, what is this? They included
the players guide.
What kind of game is this that, you
know, my parents have gotten me into.
What? Why do you think they did... Did
they do that in Japan as well?

(17:00):
I...
From what I've read, of the marketing team.
Thought that the game might be too difficult
for the for the North American audience. And
so they decided
to take the extra expense of doing a
player's guide
for the American, for the American,
audience,

(17:21):
or a North American audience. I just yeah.
Because, of course, can't cannot exclude your Canadian,
our Canadian friends
yourself included good, sir.
U.
But, yeah. So that, yeah, think Nintendo marketing
for a for, actually, a really wonderful players
guide.
It's
okay.

(17:42):
But let me ask you this.
Somebody
who... I forget or I heard this, but
Some of the things
in the guide are wrong, like will wrong
on purpose.
Do you remember anything about there?
Yeah.
Not that I am aware of.
Is that... Or is that I remember?

(18:03):
Okay. So you would know better than me,
so maybe I'm just wrong.
It's entirely possible, but I can't, you know,
you never can't discount the possibility.
I'd have to I'd have to look that
up myself and kinda see and then Yeah.
Maybe clear earth bound again to kinda to
kinda see, you know, what they're saying is
drew.
I gotta see you later has spend again.
We should just do a whole thing on,

(18:25):
like,
on earth bound. Like, maybe I'll try it
again off stream.
Aside from prying eyes. Right.
My new thing is, I'm not playing anymore
beloved fan games.
I'm not playing any more games with it
with a Rapid fan base as a first
play through. Nice. Alright. Sounds good. Yep. Yeah.

(18:46):
But I'm just... I'm just too I'm too
self conscious to do it. You know? I'm...
Oh, okay. It's not like I need to
be good or I need to be right.
But it's just sort of, like,
it's
I feel like a bit of a lab
specimen.
So
Like, all the eyes are on you. Yeah.
And, like, you know, that... I guess that's
why you stream.

(19:08):
But
it it takes its toll. And and now
I just wanna have fun. So that's why,
like, I... I'm I'm really having fun using
a walk through,
on stream. You know. First time I did
it was for us Saga 3 or,
final fantasy legends 3. Okay. Yeah. Was it
that the game boy 1 that you were
playing? Saga Yeah. Okay. I'm remember. I'm

(19:30):
plan that. Yeah. That's that looked fun. Mh.
So... Yeah.
The thing I I realized is, like... I
would be so... I I would have such
a different opinion of Dragon quest 5 if
I didn't have the walk through. Like, it's
1 of my favorite games like Rpg that
I played.
Okay. But I don't think it would be
that way if I had to figure out

(19:51):
everything,
like,
without... Any help or any guides or whatever
because there's some parts in the game. There's
so many, like
like, story checkpoints,
where if you don't do this thing that
is not quite explained to you,
you're not progressing. You're just not gonna get

(20:12):
any further.
Like, you have to use the
like,
you have to play... Use the the bell
that you got or something. And then all
of a sudden,
opens
a cave
or
you have to search the ground for stairs
and like, mh.
You know, there's a search function. Like, I

(20:33):
guess, a lot of Rpg have, like, search
functions
that that may or may not work, like,
final fantasy 7, I think had had a
pretty annoying 1 that you could search in
this, like,
dirt area for for for tri.
And some stuff is really good And stuff
stuff just like here's a potion or here's
like, a heal. Here's the consolation prize. Yeah.

(20:55):
But this this is, like required for the
stories is. Is for to search and and
whatever. And I think that's cool.
Yeah.
But, you know, for me, it was limited
time to to to play games I I
kinda, like, just knowing.
So let me ask you this.
So
When you use a a walk through or

(21:17):
strategy guide to play games, you know, what's
your primary purpose for using that strategy guys?
The kind of a
an anti frustration
resource for you, or, like, or you just
totally
you know, kinda of men maxing everything like,
in a game or something like, what's your
use case for it? Okay. Well, let me
let me let me break it down. It's

(21:39):
it's different for every game. That's 1 thing.
That's true. Yes.
The way I'm using it in
Train quest 5, for example, mh. Is...
I actually just went through
like, a print version of
the 1 guide that I found for the
Ps 2 version.

(22:00):
Okay. And I just print out printed out
the like, the bullet points, like the chat...
The chapters
Like, there's chapters. Like, it's 24 chapters.
Okay. And at the beginning of each chapter,
there's sort of, like, a bullet point list
of what you're gonna do.
Okay.
And
we... And then further down it's, like, here's
where to go and here's where to turn

(22:21):
and then you have to go up this
ladder then turn around.
And find this item and blah blah blah.
So
most of the time, I'm just looking at
that bullet point. I'm like, okay. I think
I can figure this out,
but for some parts, like, today, I was
in this May is where it's like, okay.
I'm getting encountered every 3 seconds.

(22:42):
And
I think this is annoying. So I'd rather
at least know that I'm on the right
track.
So then Okay delve a little deeper into
it.
It's kind of a it's kind of like
a compass for, you know, Yeah. And making
sure you're you're doing the right thing and
not, like, wasting all this time you know,
doing something. And when you could be doing,
you know, just 1 simple little thing that

(23:03):
isn't gonna spoil anything and then boom your
back on track, and that's Yeah. Okay. And
now there's another way I use
guides, and it's more for modern games,
but also for, like, I started doing retro
achievements.
If I'm trying to
get all of the achievements or if I'm
trying a platinum or whatever a modern game.

(23:24):
Mh. I I really like guides for that,
after I've played through on my own and
just experience the game naturally.
It's nice to just fire up the guide.
Like, the Yakuza games,
Shout, the Ci z who has written
the definitive guide to every game,
every Rg game. It's the a gentleman end

(23:44):
of collar.
Yeah.
Hundred percent.
So Siri has, like, basically every... Sub story
and what you're supposed to answer because a
lot of it is just sort of like,
it's language based. So it's like, you're having
a conversation with somebody,
and based on what answer you choose,
you get a different outcome.

(24:05):
So,
I think there's some some sub stories where...
You got
3 prizes, and 1 of them is a
weapon that you can only get there.
Okay. So that usually doesn't matter. You know,
weapons, you don't even... I don't even really
use them that much in the game. Mh.
But

(24:26):
some... 1 of the achievements is get, like,
do a hundred percent completion of all the,
like, get every piece of armor, every piece
piece of gear, every piece of,
weaponry,
And if you could only find it by
answering the right way in a subs story.

(24:47):
Absolutely I'm gonna use that guide.
So it's like it's stuff like you would
never know about until you looked up, you
know, these guides and, you know, how to
do this achievement. Yeah. Best example of that
is M,
because Mah was required for, 1 of the,
a bunch of the Platinum for the Yakuza
games.
And
it's it's a special version of Mah. Like,

(25:09):
there's there's there's multiple different ways to play,
M. So I've heard. Yeah. Yeah. But this
is Richie M, like Japanese
M?
I have a friend who actually competes and
reach richie M tournaments actually. Oh, do I.
A friend who goes way back.
That's the ultimate retro game. Right?
That in Pan, which is the the original

(25:31):
nintendo game.
Yeah. The the card game that, you know,
the Nintendo, you know, did card for back
in the day before they became the company
there early day. Yeah. That's.
Yeah. Fun nintendo fact. If you never knew.
Yep, That's where Nintendo got their start, you
know, with Hana Food cards. Yeah. Yeah. Hana
is something that I had to learn to
to to get my platinum.

(25:53):
So I'd use a I use guides for
that all the time. Okay.
How do you... Do you do you ever
use guides to yeah. I do use guides.
I actually have a couple of guides,
1 of which
is Donkey Kong 64.
U. And the other is
dk
Dk country 3.
Right? So I have both of those guides.

(26:17):
Primarily, what I would... What I used these
guides for is to for kind of item
collecting,
to make sure I'm... I know where to
find every item if I'm... Because usually, what
I will do is I will try and
do a, you know, search on my own,
try to find it on my own.
But if I'm getting if I'm getting frustrated
and it's no longer becoming fun or if
I'm missing, you know, constantly and messing up

(26:39):
on on a particular thing. I'll go, okay.
Let me look at the guide Right. And
then, you know, make sure I'm not... I'd
make sure maybe I miss something or maybe
I forgot to...
Get do some kind of requirement. I don't
know. That's kinda... That's kinda my use case
for a lot of those guides. Yeah. So
it's sort of, like a a look it
up if you're stuck. Kinda thing. Anti frustration,

(27:00):
you know, Yeah. Feature. Yeah. So that that
that leads me to my next question because
if you're watching this live
on Youtube, you may notice some echo the
dolphin footage, which Yes. You've generously donated
I I've tried that game once, and it
did not go well. And I see playing

(27:21):
it.
He a guide for this gameplay.
No. I did not. I I actually wanted
to try this out of my own.
I probably will look up a guide later
on?
To play this.
This game has a bit of a nostalgia
factor here for me.
Yeah the time,
but I was... When I had braces, I
would go to the Ortho

(27:41):
office. And
the this particular office that I had,
had these
console cabinets.
Yeah, and 1 of which was a sega
Genesis,
and 1 of the games that would for
be just about always installed there at the
time was Echo the dolphin.
So the waiting. A game marketed for more

(28:05):
more for the parents and for the kids.
I suppose so. Yeah. It's like,
is fun. Yeah. You're just a cute little
dolphin than But they... Yeah. If they only
knew what the last level was. Yeah. It's
like, you know, Echo the dolphin, and then
there's a... There was an s 64 set
up with wave race.
So, yeah. Anytime I was in the waiting
room, you know, waiting to be seen by

(28:26):
the hour ortho adonis
to get a checkup up on my braces.
There I was, playing playing those games.
How far have you got an echo? I
didn't get past, this level.
Yeah. That's about where I tap. Yeah.
So... Yeah.
Games like this, you know, that that don't
really show you kinda how to truly play

(28:46):
the game.
You know, stuff from, like, helping figuring out
mechanics or complex mechanics. Mh. You know, the
stuff getting good. I also use guides for
for stuff like that as well. Yeah. Like.
I You know, what I think is, you
know, if we can just wrap wrap this
topic up. Like, yeah. I think you gotta
play the game, how you want to play
it, and I think that's

(29:08):
a no brainer.
Absolutely.
When you're when you're streaming...
Mh.
You know, if if if the All is
your gameplay then
maybe not unless you're, you know, achievement hunting,
like, you... But
But, like,
you know,

(29:29):
I think it's I think it's more fun.
And I think when you're having more... When
you're having fun,
then that's always more entertaining. I think so
too. I think I think strategy guides, you
know, will always will always have a place.
Yeah. In the gamers, you know, in a
gamers resource and and and toolkit.
So I I wanted to briefly

(29:50):
touch on the future of guides and the
future of gaming assists. Mh.
Because
in the last week,
yeah.
I thought it was Game Genie, but it's
actually Game shark, which is the
the
the the follow up company to Game Genie.

(30:11):
Right
who, you know, made a lot of, like,
hardware sort of cheap devices for
consoles over the years.
Right. So they
accidentally may have leaked the launch date of
Nintendo switch 2
As September. Yeah. So, like, they put at
a press release

(30:31):
saying, yeah, we we hope to be fully
fully integrated with all consoles, including the upcoming
Nintendo switch 2,
and
you know, the
what I thought is
what a genius marketing move because Right. You
know,
they don't... They might not have any source
of that, but now everyone's talking about Game

(30:52):
shark.
So I went up and looked up,
their their new technology, which is called Ai
Shark.
And and we we watch we watched that
video before the podcast.
So I'll look... I'll explain what it is.
They have this controller

(31:13):
that
consent.
How, like, how... Like, how you're playing and
how Yeah. Like, even how, like, how tightly
you're gripping the controller.
And
it can it can
using
Hdmi pass through connection, it can look at
the gameplay
and

(31:34):
interpret the game like,
it knows where all the enemies are, It
knows where all the secrets are,
and it can tell how you're playing the
game just from just from watching.
Just oh my god. Yeah. It's... It was
pretty insane just looking at like...
Like, it's... It'll put... It'll it'll analyze the
sounds and, you know, how you're... How you're

(31:55):
controlling your character or gameplay,
and then, you know,
be kinda like an Ai assistant, you know,
to kinda help you figure thing, you know,
figure out how to how to beat everyone.
Yeah.
It's just gonna say. Have you tried getting
good.
Tried playing properly.

(32:16):
Have you tried
getting out of your mother's basement?
Oh
too far too 5. Sorry.
But, yeah, Like, I I welcome that, You
know? I I would love to know how
I'm being bad.
Any who.
Yeah. Yeah. Let's let's leave it there for
for walk throughs and game guides. But you,

(32:37):
you know, it's it's something that doesn't really
get talked about it a lot, but I
think it's helped. A lot of people enjoy
these old old school frustrating games.
Mh.
With a little more peace.
Yes.
Not just for the people who play but
streamers do. I think it'll help.
What do you what do you for us
this week Kirk?

(32:57):
Well,
as I go into 20 24,
I I've kinda, you know, as I'm getting
you back into streaming,
I realized that looking back over what I've
streamed in the past couple of years. I've
become a little too com... I don't wanna
say too complacent, but I've become a little
too comfortable with the games, you know, with
games and platforms that I'm used to.

(33:20):
What do you mean when I? What I
mean is, like, I've gotten to used to
playing stuff that I've played before. Right. Like
either on a Super nes or in nintendo
to 64,
board games that are similar on that platform.
So I decided this year.
I wanted to do something a little bit
different this year. I decided to tackle some
platforms that, I'm not... Or tackle some platforms

(33:42):
or games that I haven't really tackled before.
Like, I wanna I wanna get into some
more new stuff that I... You know,
go outside of the comfort zone so to
speak. So I made a decision on that.
And the first is that I'm gonna be
playing...
Some, more Nes games and not just the
the the big hits. I'm, I want to

(34:03):
look for more,
hidden gen, that didn't really get discovered too
often.
Right?
So
so that's 1 of my goals.
And I wanna do that because I know
the Nes
you know, has a huge library, and there's
a lot of games that are really good
that just don't get discovered. I wanna see
if I can bring some attention and, bring

(34:26):
some of those games into the light.
Yeah.
So so...
Are we looking at some of these games
here? Like, micro machines for the businesses?
I... I wanted to
not, you know, not only Nes, but I
I wanted to tackle sega Genesis games.
Because I didn't grow well let's sega, Genesis.
I had friends who had them.
But I just decided to pack some random

(34:47):
games said to to to try about Yeah.
Know, if it this kinda ended up being
more difficult in slash fun that I realized
it was gonna be.
What is this game Meg max?
Mac max. This is... Mac max is actually
1 of my games that I play as
a child. Oh, no. So so this isn't
it. This is this is this is comfort
zone. This is my comfort joke here.

(35:10):
But the this was this is a fun...
This is always fun for me as a
kid. And I... You know, and this is
kind of a hidden gem, but I did
wanna bring down the light. That there's some
fun hidden gem games up there, and I
wanna discover more of them.
This is a port of, a,
an arcade game, by the same name. Right?
About this is the ending nes port. It's
very it's a very

(35:32):
stripped down bare bones version. Mh. Of set
port,
of the of set arcade game. Right. Right.
As as they as they had to be...
For the Nes, I guess. Exactly. Exactly. But,
yeah, I wanna play more hidden gen games
and not just not just the big hits
for so that's 1 1 of the goals
I have for this year for the Nes.

(35:52):
And then I wanna get into more Sega
games. I have played some Sega games before,
but
you know, more kinda limited to, like, Sonic,
you know, games, but I wanna venture outside
of that
board this year. And to that effect, I've
actually purchased,
hasn't arrived yet, but I've purchased
8 bit dose,

(36:12):
m 80 controller, the Sega controller, the 6
button version. Oh, very cool. Yeah. So it's...
It'll be in the mail
tomorrow, in my mailbox tomorrow. Mh
So... I I wanted to... If I'm gonna
go into Sega games, So I might as
well play it like it was kind of
originally
as as close as I can to the
original way it was intended to be played.

(36:33):
On a sega controller. So
that's, you, that's kinda wanted to get more
immersed in in the experience and speak. Yeah.
Yeah. And and what are you hoping to
to... What are you hoping to just... To
to get out of playing
games as was side of your comfort zone
and finding hit... And and what are you
hoping to get out of these hidden gems?

(36:56):
As far as, you know, side definitely, of
course, outside the comfort zone, but just
discovering, you know, things that never got, you
know, seen by the public eye, or, you
know, too much by the public guy. UIII
want to...
I I just want to not replay things.
I wanna discover new things and and, you
know, get the joy by of discovering new

(37:18):
things. Because Yeah. You don't you don't want...
Because if I'm just gonna play things I
played before, that's just relying on nostalgia
and that's not gonna produce any growth you
know, for, you know, for something that I
just love to do.
Yeah. Well, I mean, speaking to someone who
is
as someone who's been playing that style of

(37:40):
retro for the last,
III
guess, almost 4 years now. Mh. On my
stream,
most of what I do
is the first play through.
And so I have no nostalgia for it.
I have nostalgia for gaming, like, old school
games in general.
Yeah. I only had... 3 or 4 of
them, like, and I played all of them

(38:01):
on stream, and may... The only way that
I would get anything more to them is
doing the achievements for them. Which is what
I will be doing this here. So those
are my gaming goals. But
yeah. Like, it's it's actually taught me a
lot about myself by
enduring the first playthrough, especially the the una
first playthrough.

(38:21):
Okay.
It it's it's hard to be... You know,
I think it's just an exercise in vulnerability,
which
well like that. Yeah. Know,
a lot of people struggle with, 1 of
men specifically struggle with vulnerability. You know, The
classic
it's the classic
relationship problem in between a man and a
woman kinda of thing like,

(38:43):
the art to... You know, not to say
that
like, that's the only type of relationship, but
that's that's what
that... That... That's what I've experienced. I'll say
that. Okay.
Anyway,
but, like, you know, guys are
guys want to feel like they're strong, You

(39:04):
know, and and and that's that's what society
has imposed on us, when like it or
not.
And and I... I've never been like,
a super strong guy like, in that sense.
Like, I... I'm
you know, I've never never been good at
sports. I... I've been a smart kid, but,

(39:24):
like, always felt weird about it. And so
You know, as I got older, I got
more and more comfortable comfortable with vulnerability
as as a source of
strength.
You know, and ironically, You know, because it
allows me to do stuff like make art
for living, which is all emotion based,

(39:48):
Well, that's really cool.
So by discovering new things, it it it
it kinda allows your creative mind to flow.
Absolutely because
you know, there's no new
pathways,
developed by doing the same thing
mh. Without a challenge. Right?

(40:09):
Right. And when you challenge
yourself when you put yourself through hardship,
you you need to speak about that hardship.
You need to communicate that, you know, to
maybe just even to say does anyone else
feel this way?
Get that support group? Well, it's not just
support. It's not just it's like, a... It's...

(40:30):
Maybe it's just comm consideration, but it's it's,
it's shared to experience.
Yeah. I think that's... I actually may have
been a better way to say what I
was saying.
Yeah. So is that sort of what you're...
What what you're...
Like, how does how does that resonate with
with your goals? Like, is that?
I think part of that is, you know,

(40:51):
being vulnerable and open to new things. Yeah.
Because I've... I feel like, you know, there's
a certain era of complacency,
you know, for playing, you know, for relying
on nostalgia,
and, like I said,
And I...
If, you know, I don't wanna go through
life,
not having tried something, you know, new that

(41:12):
you, you know, haven't tried before, Yeah.
Especially and when the time is perfect right
now, where it's so easy to be able
to discover new things,
Yeah. You know, through emulation, you know, and
and collections.
Stuff like things available...
Yeah Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. And,

(41:33):
you know, there are so many titles that
get overlooked, and,
I want to...
I wanna see what what
games that are out there that I brought
other people joy, you know, and I wanted
experience, you know, what you know, what may...
What... See what they've may have been feeling
when they
enjoyed those games. Well, let me give you

(41:54):
AAAA
short tip. Do not play winter games for
the N nes.
I'm willing to bet
dollars to sedona that has never brought a
single person any joy.
Just utter
frustration and and and regret.
Maybe to the people who've have watched who
watched other people play and just, you know,

(42:15):
you, get a little shot for it going
on. I me mean maybe that, You know,
that's a stretch.
But it's it's a good instinct. You know?
It's Let's. We we we need to challenge
ourselves, and,
we we need to... Seek out new things,
new possibilities
and and Right live a life where, like,

(42:38):
where we're constantly
being challenged.
I, you know, I...
Here here's my experience. Like, I grew up
as a gifted kid. You know, I I
did really well in school.
And it was sort of almost the worst
thing for me
in that sense of vulnerability
because

(42:58):
I was good at a lot of things.
Mh.
Academically,
which I
stuck to, and then
I was not good at a lot of
things, like sports
or
socializing.
I know that feeling. I I shi away
from that stuff. Right? And sorry. So,

(43:20):
you know, I didn't expect this. Just to
go... You get get so,
on today's show, but, like, I I like
talking about this stuff.
So as a result,
I I've had this thing where, like, I
don't like trying do things
because I
I know what I'm good at, and I
wanna keep doing that because it's... Comfortable.
It's like, this is what I'm good at

(43:42):
and and also,
I have an ego that is fed by
being good at things.
And if I'm not good at things then
it does not feed that ego.
But
you know, it comes to point of your
life or it's just sort of, like, you're
in this echo chamber of just like, yep.
I'm good at this. I'm this and people
people

(44:03):
know that I'm good at this thing and
whatever,
but Right it's boring.
It's boring, and you never get to come
out of your shell and see what else
is out there. Yeah. You know? And especially
as, you know, people get older, they kinda
they they kinda fall into the habits they
that they fall into.
And, you know, it's very hard to break
out of it, because, you know, like you
said, you know what you're good at, you

(44:24):
know, and you kinda wanna stick to that,
and you don't want... You know, you're not
as open to changes maybe once were when
you were Kid. Yeah. And and, like, as
I get older, it's, like, I wanna protect
my brain because it, you know,
stuff like Alzheimer's is is is a real
thing that will affect 1 and 4
senior citizens in in some places like, IIII

(44:47):
know that's statistic true for Japan,
only because I played the game judgment.
We're wow. Yeah. It's all about
like, that sort of the framework of the
game is a an aging society, and a
new drug that might cure alzheimer's.
So, yeah, It's like a it's a healthy
thing to do as you get older. Like,

(45:07):
keep on... That's why I say keep on
gaming because it's like it's healthy.
Just like keep on, exercise and keep on,
like,
being, you know, loving life, keep on trying
new things.
I love it. Yeah. You know, it's not
it's not just a catch phrase. It's a
lifestyle. Yeah. For sure.
Actually, I... You know where I got that
is from

(45:28):
from Rick Steves because he has... He has,
like, he... You know what Rick Steves uses?
I do not. Well, who is Rick Steves.
Okay. So Rick Steves is this, like Pbs
guy.
Okay. And he has a show called travel
with Rick Steves or or
Sorry, your... Rick Steves, Europe.
The podcast is called travel with Rick Steves,
But Rick Steves Europe was like a big

(45:49):
travel show in the
I think it started in the nineties or
early 2 thousands.
Okay. And so basically, he's like...
Go go to Europe, get out of, you
you Americans, get out of... And he's American.
And he's front... Like, he lives in, around
Seattle, I think. But easily, like, get out
of your comfort zone, goes, go to a

(46:10):
country where you don't speak the language.
Open yourself up to new possibilities. It's the
greatest thing in life.
And so he always says key... At the
end of his
show, keep on... Now I'm Rick Steves. Keep
on traveling.
Was he... Was it like, the, you know,
the anthony bo at the time, you know,
no day. It's not so sal delicious. It's
not so, like, it's gus eat up. It's...

(46:32):
Just sort of like, it's very dry. It's
like, wow. He's just walking around and he's
just na, like,
just a lot of the stuff. And this
very sort of, like, net Fl is kinda
way,
which
is funny,
because
the my favorite examples, he goes to Amsterdam,

(46:54):
and he's like,
you know,
marijuana has been or cannabis has that been
here since blah blah blah, and you you
can go to a cafe and and have
your choice of smoke. And it's all our
illegal. And blah God. And then later I
found out, he's like, I think he's like,
1 of the...
On the board of directors or maybe even

(47:16):
the president of normal, You know, normal? Like,
it's like the weed reform sort of
thing in the industry... I didn't know that.
Yeah. He's there's he's a spokesman or something
for them.
A spokesperson and and, like, he
you know,
turns out he's like a really hip dude
who's like, has a lot of progressive ideas

(47:37):
about that stuff. But then he's also like,
he's
He's a lutheran. III don't know. He he
he goes to He's was really down churches
like, in in
like,
in,
like, Northern in Europe and be like, oh,
this is where Martin Luther, Blah, blah, blah,
blah blah. And and
it's just so, like,

(47:58):
it's so fun. It's so funny to to
watch him this like Ned fl guy. Just
like, go around and just experience
these things that are just, like, out of
his comfort zone, and he's, like, doing it.
But it's it's not like, from a ordained
perspective. It it's... Okay. It's a little different.
So, yeah, I would check it out. It's
A fun.

(48:18):
Very light hearted.
It's it's it's a nice... It's a nice.
It's then an ass. Alright. Yeah.
Anyway, yeah. Get out of your comfort zones,
All of you.
Let's talk about some some gaming,
this and that, like News z type things.
Yeah.
So, you know, I remember,

(48:39):
the last podcast we were on,
that we... That we did.
You... We had discussed
that Frankenstein
placed Nintendo playstation
god soul.
And you actually mentioned off offhand
about,
a palm sized game cube.
You I see Got really... Yeah. Palm said

(49:01):
gamecube. Well, it got me
absolutely curious, and I couldn't help myself had
to look it up after the podcast.
And, I believe this is
I think this is what it is. It's
the gamecube nano.
Yeah.
It was this the 1 that you were
talking about? The palms yeah. Okay. Okay.
Oh my gosh. I've watched this whole video.

(49:25):
I believe it's by macho
productions. I we did this.
Shout to Nacho. He does amazing videos
about, you know, console mods and and similar
things.
This...
This is also a bit of a Frankenstein
steiner
mod, although, it's not as it's not as

(49:45):
horrendous.
As the Nintendo play playstation was.
But in essentially...
What I found fascinating is it's not really
using Gamecube key program. It's more using, than
nintendo we
hardware.
Right. Because yeah is is gamecube...
A backwards
compatible. Right?
Yeah. So

(50:06):
basically, you take... You you kinda take a
dremel and you cut you know, certain parts
of the board out. U. And then you
combine that
with a couple of different, you know, outside,
you know, manufactured boards.
And then you put it all together into
this
amazing, you know, looking,

(50:27):
although Frankenstein
kind of
engineering
it's much... It's it... The engineering on this
1, it's much more thought out this time
around than it... It was the last time
we were looked at say like this.
What I've really found interesting is that it's
still 4 player compatible,
and they use, adapters with
headphone jack. Like 3.5 millimeter headphone jacks. Oh,

(50:49):
yeah.
Yeah.
So it keeps the style of the gamecube
Like style the gamecube cube. Yeah. Like, it's
keeps the aesthetic of an actual gamecube and
palm size form. Mh. It just shrinks it
down instead of the gamecube port up, You
know, adapter your short headphone jacks. Very cool.
That was my favorite parts. Like, how do

(51:09):
they do it? Like, did put, like, headphone
jacks and turns out that was right. Just
like, button, even looking, watching him installer is
still fascinating.
I love that video so much. Yeah. I
should watch it again.
But, yeah, Just just... It... It's it's it's
just much more clean
than than watching the other 1.

(51:30):
But it it's just a
It's just goes to show. There was also,
I was gonna look at, like, a, a
shrunk down
nes on a... On a Nintendo, a gameboy.
First a date
on a game... Like, using the shell of
a game boy you mean? Yeah. Of the
shell of a game boy. Yeah. And they

(51:51):
cut down the main processor chip. U.
To make it still usable of but it's
cut down by, like, 50 percent or 60
percent. The n
original LNS,
like, P kind of thing? Yeah. The P,
to a way where it's still usable and
you do some sold around the connector points.

(52:12):
It's absolutely fascinating. I can't... I forget what
it's... Calls. Like stunt stunt engineering at this
right.
Right? I'm I'm sure several, you know, Ppe
for sacrifice in the process of finding out
how to do something like that. Right. Yeah
Well, III...
Yeah. I definitely go check that video...

(52:32):
Yeah. Also, you sent me this video that
I wanna I wanna comment on.
Yes. As you know, I love the original
Games
And I really love
Too, which gets a lot of a, a
bad rap, you know, from from... Right. You
know, it's it's very obscure and, like, Mh.
I don't think that you get through it

(52:53):
without a little bit of help. III mean,
actually, I did it blind.
I did it without without a guide, but
I may have may have had to ask
a few questions. I I don't wanna say
it was blind. But I figured it out.
Mh. So there's AAA new game,
set to release next year. Yes. Sold 45.

(53:14):
And I'm... When I first saw this, I'm
like, oh, Kona putting out of a cool
game, You know,
another old School.
But... Yeah. If you look at
If you look at the the name of
it, it says Yeah. The Trans
adventure of Simon Quest.

(53:37):
Win.
Yeah.
This trailer came out about a week ago.
I saw this. And, I I couldn't wait
to show you this because it's it's absolutely
an... A complete love letter to the old
Games, the first 3 games.
Yeah.
Yeah...
And I love the story. It's like,

(53:58):
you are jealous that your friend has already
killed dracula
So your
your mission is to find all of his
remains and put, like, much like Simon's quest
where you have to find all his arts
and put them back together so you can
kill him again.

(54:19):
Oh, my gosh. Like, I'll put the I'll
put the link in the chat here for
you. We'll put it in the description. Arts
for those who are watching after the show.
It's so great. But, oh my gosh. This...
It's such a fun trailer.
Actually, I also found
because this game has been a developer for
several years actually,
the developer put out, a,

(54:42):
20 21
demo,
or gameplay footage of a demo that he
was doing for this,
Yeah. It's it's it's worth a watch.
I don't know if there's lot that's been
changed since this demo in several years, but
it kinda gives you AAA taste
for, you know, what's to come with a
game like this and, you know, this is...

(55:03):
I'll actually probably buy this day 1 and
play it, it looks fun.
It reminds me in a way, you know,
like, Castle had, like, shovel night, you know,
levels of content put into something like this.
Yeah. Has... He's got like a... And he's
got like, a little mega man slide.
Bright.
No. No. Actually, he's got the Richter slide.
Oh, the Richter slide Okay. Yeah. From Pennsylvania,

(55:26):
from
blood lines and the Dracula x. Right. Right.
He's got these he's got that slide.
It it looks so cool. But it it
makes me think like...
You know, how
how lit is
right now,
obviously, like,
the... This is not getting,

(55:47):
real... Like, a release on console
with a with an actual distributor
unless they're pretty darn sure that
they're they're not gonna get sued.
I don't know. I'd... Yeah, that'd be interesting
to see if a does a cease desist
on something like this.
I mean, they've had 4 years to do
something, and, you know, you know, I guess

(56:07):
maybe they've gotten some permissions from Kona economy
for some of the elements or something like
that or maybe it's covered under parity.
I have no idea. Well, that's what they...
Yeah. That's what they sort of
listed at.
Isn't it? Like, let me just look at
the description for a sec. Okay. Alright. It
it looks like it looks like that sort
of just built into the

(56:30):
to to the
to the thing. Like... Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's
a... It's a parody homage sides
scroll platform game.
So... Yeah. And it's a different enough, I
think where it's it's quite transformative,
you know, where it's not gonna be too
much of an issue for, like, fair use
or something like that. Like, if me look
at the messenger, 1 of the 1 of

(56:50):
the most popular games from a few years
back of how popular indie games and
it's
not...
It's it's not subtly
not even... A little bit subtly
tribute to, like, the Shin games. Right.
Ninja Like, oh.
Okay.
Shin meets Ninja ga.

(57:12):
Right.
But, yeah, Like, it's it's, you know, it's
funny It's. Like, it has that that comedy
tone to it. Mh.
It's funny that, like, K
makes so much money on
their Pac games. They're gambling games that, like,
It's just like, why the why the f

(57:32):
do we care about
video games? Like, sure That's what the people
know us for.
Right. But
we're a business. We wanna make money.
And
it's just way more profitable to have a...
A pac business. I mean Is absolutely huge
in Japan. So, I mean, I could see,

(57:53):
you know, quarter a particular market, you know,
with
still that
like, I I went to Japan a couple
times. I tried to go to a into
a Pac pa parlor, and the noise was
just... It was so deafening.
I hear it's Deafening. Yeah. III
had to put my fingers in my ear
holes.
And then I'm like, I'm out of here.

(58:14):
I just can't. I just can't. It's just...
It sounded like
what I think it feels like to have
a migraine.
Oh, no.
Wasn't just like like the noise of all
the balls and stuff rattling around or is
it something else? Yeah. It's just like and
just
yeah Yeah. It's just metal.

(58:36):
Almost look at casino and slot machines. Oh,
man. It's it's rough. And the other thing
is, like, you know, talking about game
game devs and,
and and and, you, you know,
Ip
protection
Right. Did you hear about... Did you hear
about the,

(58:56):
the new Capcom, like, the mega man,
games that were...
I think it's, like the Mega man 0
collection that was... It just went on sale
on... Like, maybe if they released it a
couple months back. But it just went on
super sale.
It's, like, 9 90 percent off, and I
almost bought it Because like, well, maybe someday,
I get a steam deck, and then this
would just work on it.

(59:18):
Mh. It was on for, like, 4 dollars
or 5 dollars or something. Wow. But then
I looked at the reviews and it was
overwhelmingly...
Like, It it was like, sort of positive,
and then I looked back later in the
day,
and the reviews are just, like,
unanimously
tear, like, bad reviews.
Oh, no. And this is why they put

(59:40):
they put some sort of copy
protection software in there. Oh, yeah. A d,
like, Dr?
Yeah. Like, not D novo, but something of
that
something of that sort. III would look it
up, but, you know, it doesn't really matter.
But in a way where it actually breaks
the game on the steam deck. It won't

(01:00:01):
work.
Oh, man. Yeah. So forth. People are like,
we bought this game, and now it doesn't
work. Just because...
You wanted to, all of a sudden put
Dr in your retro game collection.
And I think where where it came from
is they had a shareholders meeting where,

(01:00:21):
you know, they they want they wanted to,
just prove to their shareholders like, we care
about our Ip, and, you know, Pi is
a huge concern for us,
and
Copy protection is a huge concern for us.
Right. Meanwhile, Mega man maker exists.

(01:00:43):
Like, I worry about that that that that
Yeah. Now because,
you know, what what are you gonna do
and they... When capcom come comes for you?
Right?
Yeah. I mean, hopefully, hopefully, that days does
not come or mega man maker gets targeted.
I hope that doesn't not have to to
happen. You know what? I hope so too,
but

(01:01:03):
I also think it will.
I think I think it's, like, you
You can't build
a platform
called Mega man
without Capcom noticing And maybe they have noticed
and they've come to some sort of agreement.
But if they're doing this with Dr like...

(01:01:25):
Just for AAA game that they're releasing on
steam for 5 bucks.
You know, it's like they got
they got at least be thinking about it.
Yeah. And at that point, it's like,
you know, I I hope they
I hope they get on the room, the
right side of history.
I I hope they come some sort of

(01:01:46):
agreement where they can actually,
you know, pay the devs to to to
to keep it going
and
as a fan game,
and and maybe they
you know, his thing about Mega man maker
is it's free.
Yeah. Nobody makes money off of it. And

(01:02:06):
it could be because it's... A fan, It's
a fan game, and they're not releasing it
for money. Maybe that's why it's been. That's
not legal.
That's not the defense. The Oh, I agree.
Maybe it's probably wiped and kept off the
radar. That is not worth the past.
Shoot. That's not, like,
You know, for for other...
Like, look at Mario Royale.

(01:02:28):
Oh, yeah. You know, Nintendo was very very
quick to get rid of that.
Yeah. Again get an nintendo the nintendo watches
stuff like that like a hawk. Yeah. Yeah.
Well, they... You know, they're they're the...
Then they're the number 1 sort of
like, hawk eye for that sort of stuff.
Kinda Doesn't... Is is it in no way

(01:02:49):
as big.
So maybe they just don't have the resources
to do anything about it.
And the other thing is maybe they're just
too busy making money with their, you know,
resident Evil for Vr and whatever there... Whatever
games they release on. Like, I'm sure they
have a bunch of
mobile micro transaction something that I don't care
about that We're they gonna hand or fist.

(01:03:12):
It's a very un researched opinion, but, I
stand it.
Would actually agree with the other. So... You
know? So
it's sad to sad to see something that
I almost bought
and enjoy it. Like, I'm like, well, you
know what? Fuck it? Like, III know I
know where to get the Rom for mega
man 0 in all those games and I've

(01:03:33):
always wanted to try 1 of those.
But
maybe I'll support Capcom and hopefully, you know,
somebody who worked on the game would get
some money from it. Yeah. But
you know, even if it's a penny,
but,
if it
if it's just like
not working, if it breaks the game, then

(01:03:54):
I I just you know, it's it's disappointing
as all. That's that's my... That's the last
I that's my that's my final opinion. It's
disappointed.
Alright. Yeah. Anyway, anything else you wanna you
wanna chad about tonight? I think I think
we're doing for... I think we're good. I...
Yeah. I think it's been a pretty good

(01:04:14):
episode. It is.
Going for about an hour. That's that's that's
a good target time. I think we should
call it.
Yeah. And you know, we'll be back next
week with brand new topics, and
you know, have another
fun conversation. Maybe we can even... I would
love to get Jimmy on for more episodes.
Absolutely. He wants to come on and talk

(01:04:35):
about stuff.
Always treat at Jimmy on. Yeah. In in
the meantime, I'm gonna keep playing dragon quest
5. Mh. I have a couple more streams.
You can catch me over at, twist dot
Tv slash K all? Nice. And after I
finished out, I'm going right into a dark
souls first playthrough baby. Oh, yeah.

(01:04:55):
I'll, I'll be streaming more super mario odyssey.
Again, that's been such a dang treat. When
I ice stream. I've been g, each time
I'm playing a level. It's just so fun.
I love that game.
Yes.
Yeah.
Alright. Well, until then scoops, I just wanna
say,
have a great evening and, keep on gaming.

(01:05:17):
Keep on gaming to you, Curb.
See you soon.

Boysober

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
