Welcome back to the Crown & Anchor, Greyhounds! In our spoiler-free "Season 3 Preview-in-air-quotes" Marisa, Christian, and Brett have a conversation about some of the key information for fans to bear in mind as we head into Season 3 of Ted Lasso!

Marisa has all but run out of patience. Brett is an emotional wreck. Christian is... aroused??? All that can only mean one thing: the third season of our beloved show Ted Lasso is coming soon!

In this episode, we chat about the official pieces of marketing and media that have been released by Apple and the Ted Lasso team in advance of the premier, and we recap the facts and figures that even casual Ted Lasso fans need to know before commencing their season 3 journey.

We also highlight some of the key plot points that we expect this third installment to address and/or resolve while simultaneously trying (and Brett definitely failing) to refrain from spending too much energy hypothesizing about what lies in store.

Welcome back to the Crown and AnchorGreyhounds. This is Richmond Till We Die,
a conversation about the Apple TV Plusshow ted Lasso, where we explore
the characters, their relationships to eachother, and how they're able to make
us laugh until we can hardly breatheone moment and then feel with the deepest
parts of our hearts the next. This bonus episode will serve as our season
three preview, and I put thatin air quotes because y'all know that on

(00:35):
this show we are generally hesitant tomake any predictions or plantificate about the future
when it comes to ted Lasso, and that's because trying to predict what's going
to happen on this show is aboutas helpful as sports pundits trying to predict
what's going to happen in a bigsoccer match. Sometimes you get stuff right,

(00:56):
but often you just wind up lookingand sounding like a So instead,
we'll focus our conversation on everything weknow so far about season three and share
a bit about our journey with theshow and these characters. But first we
should probably run it back and introduceourselves. I'm Marissa and Camba makes me
feel like a graphic artist. I'mChristian and this is the most excited I've

(01:18):
been for a season three debut sinceMarch twenty twenty two, when Atlanta season
three came to us, a showthat I admittedly have not watched yet,
even though I'm really excited still towatch it someday. I'm Brett, and
I hope Season three of ted Lassois the season of love. I'm here

(01:42):
for love for all the characters inall the ways, romantic love, platonic
love of food, food, love, tea, all the different kinds of
love. I'm here for it.Let's do it. But first, I
love what you're wearing, Christian. You should describe it for the people listening
making it spot cast debut today.Brett is my officially licensed ted Lasso Foe

(02:06):
training shirt, long sleeves, meantto look like a soccer training shirt,
but definitely more in the one hundredpercent cottony realm, but than a lot
of things you'd see at an actualtraining pitch. Lasso merch in the house.
I'm also officially christening this shirt tedLasso throwback gear because it has the

(02:29):
Varani symbol on the chest instead ofthe Nike symbol that we're going to see
in season three, so outdated, just like all the cool kids could probably
sell this on eBay for tens ofdollars, tens, so many, dozens
of dollars, handfuls of dollars. It's like I haven't purchased a new USA

(02:53):
men's or women's kits since they've changedthe crest, So every time I wear
it, I'm a little bit selfconscious because it has the crest that looks
like it was design to Microsoft painton it and not the new one that's
kind of a little bit more sleekand twenty first century looking. I have
been holding out for the Nike stuffto drop, which I'm a bit pessimistic
is actually going to happen because,as you infer to there, we just

(03:15):
had a Men's World Cup, We'reabout to have a women's World Cup.
The world is getting choked to deathwith supply chain issues. So I'm not
too sure that Nike is going towant to dedicate a lot of resources to
making gear for a fictional soccer company. But if they do, I will
be there with my handfuls of moneyto grab the gear. At least a

(03:37):
couple dozens of dollars at least. All Right, So, like we said
at the top, we're not goingto get too deep into the weeds of
what could or might happen. Solet's start off by just focusing on the
things that are confirmed, that havebeen released by Apple or its affiliates of
the show, and that we knoware true. Like the third season of

(03:58):
Ted Lasso will debut on Apple TVPlus on Wednesday, March fifteenth. Then
we get twelve episodes weekly on Wednesdays, with the last episode scheduled to arrive
on May thirty, first, ifthey stick with that schedule. Right,
that being said, we're not flyingtotally in the dark. We've seen some
things. See we've been changed bythings like some things you can't unsee and

(04:24):
things you can't unsee likes. Thevery first official bit of marketing four season
three was an official first look photothat I'm sure many fans have seen on
the Internet that depicts Ted and Natestaring at each other. Actually Nate's staring,
Ted's kind of smiling. He looksvery his usual Ted self, but

(04:45):
in the background looms a dark figurenamed Rupert. If I had to sum
up the predominant feeling that came overme when I saw this picture. It
was arousal because it looked very verymuch like a frame from Return of the
Jedi with Rupert in the background, kind of as Emperor Palpatine in the throne

(05:08):
room of the second incomplete yet fullyoperational Death Star and Darth Vader and Luke
Skawalker kind of like staring each otherdown as they were getting ready to have
a light Saber duel. So withall the talk about ted Lasso season two
being like the Empire strikes back,I loved a little more hot hot Star

(05:30):
Wars action to kick off the seasonthree campaign. Do we think Rupert has
a dark figure? I would imaginehis figure is pretty white, but much
like Emperor Palpatine, he cloaks itin darkness. Yeah, like his aura
is dark. Yeah, I meangross. So that was January eighteenth.

(05:50):
About a month later, on Valentine'sDay, we got an official teaser trailer
from Apple TV, and this teasertrailer is very It features several of our
favorite characters making their own believe signs, which they then hang in the locker
room. All of the signs werevery much on brand for the various characters,

(06:13):
and so that added some nice comediclevity. Killes was completely overdone,
lovely, glittery. I'm a littlesurprised there wasn't like puffy paint on hers
wouldn't have been out of place, just a little more flair. Danny's was
in Spanish, yes, and Roy'swas very small, but he technically completed

(06:36):
the assignment and Jamie's was originally misspelled, and then he kind of had to
shoehorn all of the letters to fiton the page. It's like watching my
children do their homeware're gonna just likebreaks your heart a little bit. And
you're just like that as someone whosat down with a kindergartener around at the

(06:56):
time that that teaser trailer was releasedso that he could write names on all
of the Valentine's for his class.Big, big, big Jamie tart energy
year old. Definitely, And Iappreciate Rebecca where she's like not going to
faff around with all that nonsense. She's just going to print it perfectly.
Yeah, she's just like eating herbiscuits or drinking her tea. Girl whatever

(07:18):
the printer is doing its thing. That's clutch. What a what a boss
move from the boss, then that'sfor sure. That wasn't the only trailer
we received, however. We thengot a longer official trailer on February twenty
seventh, and there was a lotin there. Brett, what are some

(07:40):
of the things that you guys saw? Big takeaways for me were like the
new Kids by Nike, like youmentioned earlier, look really good. Yes,
they are very fresh. There's lotsof things we could get into that
we're not going to, such aslike you know, what is this big
game they're playing against Manchester City? Why are they losing to Chelsea? You
know what's going to happen with thischippy match at west Ham It there was

(08:01):
a lot of soccer in this one. Actually, I felt like it was
very soccer centric and I feel likebecause we got the belief signs on Valentine's
Day, it's important to note thatit looks like the original belief sign is
scotch taped back up nicely above Ted'soffice, so that is encouraging. Yes,

(08:22):
there was. There was definitely ashot or a frame where we can
clearly see that the original belief signhas been literally taped back together and hung
back up, which is a nicenice touch. I thought many people will
be relieved. Oh, thank goodness, did not want to recycle that needed
to go up. And then ofcourse, like the ending is very sweet
too, Like it's one of thefew bits of dialogue that we actually get

(08:45):
in the trailer, but it hasSam looking around the team as they're sort
of in this huddle, and hesays, I love you guys so very
much, and then Jamie butts inand it's like on three and everyone takes
over, and it looks like Samisn't really even expecting it to happen,
but then it does. Of course, that could be movie ma jick and
who knows how they cut things right, But it's a very sweet moment in
the trailer that I spied several peopleon Twitter saying they got a little bit

(09:07):
misty watching the end of that trailerfor that reason, and I'll admit it
tugged at my heartstrings as well.Speaking of Sam, we get to see
a bit of his like future restaurant, yes, which is called OLA's,
which some fans have pointed out isnamed after his dad. That's a bit
of a deep cut, but therestaurant looks super cute and all the players

(09:28):
are there celebrating the opening or thesoft opening or whatever. It looks a
lot like Christmas at Higgins's house. At first, that's what I thought it
was, like another Christmas shot, and then I realized I saw the name
in the back, and I waslike, Oh, that's so cool.
We're gonna this time with fifty percentless commonization. Yeah, we're gonna get
to We're gonna get to see it, which is super exciting. Of course,
the very ending that kind of comesin after the ending shot is Roy

(09:54):
saying great job, and then Tedcommenting on it and Beard pretending to faint,
which is just a great little Idon't think he was pretending, Brett,
actually, I think he actually fainted. But basically those two bits of
dialogue is almost all we get fromthis trailer, which made it feel very
different to me than even the seasontwo trailer, where I felt like we
had like a good chunk of Ted'slike I believe in rom communism like vibe

(10:18):
in that trailer, So it feltlike we had a bit more to go
on thematically last season, whereas thisone. I guess there's a lot of
soccer, so maybe we're supposed toinfer that, you know, west Ham
and the soccer you know Rivalry Clashis going to be the big centerpiece there
and like all that that means. But yeah, it felt as I've only

(10:39):
watched it two or three times now, but as I've watched it, I
thought, yeah, there's not alot of like thematic tipping of your hand
here. I have a couple ofworking theories as to why we didn't get
much dialogue. One is that theyreally like to be coy and give us
a lot of surprises, and I'msure that they felt like there was going
to be a lot of scrutiny ofthese trailers, and so maybe not give

(11:03):
people as much to work off ofand not have to kind of joke and
deek to throw people off the scent. My other working theory is for this
point in time, compared to theother seasons, the episodes aren't super done.
When you look at how compact theschedule has been from when they rapped
we think they wrapped. We're noteven sure that everybody has wrapped all of

(11:26):
their work until now. It's beena much shorter window than usual, and
a lot of people have been workingon other projects at the same time.
So I feel not that they're makingit up as they go along, but
it does feel a little bit likethey are going to have to work really
hard and diligently and efficiently to keepon their schedule. And so maybe part

(11:48):
of why it felt so choppy isbecause we got some of the best of
what was available when they cut itup. I also think they can get
away with not like having to attractpeople to the show at this point,
like season three as we know it, or at least we think is the

(12:09):
end right for ted Lasso. Soit's also like you know, season one,
in the season two, like theywant people to like come to the
show and watch the show, andI feel like they've already established that fan
base, and it's like, we'rejust going to give you what you need
to get through to March fifteenth, and then we'll give you all the good
stuff. Yes, it's kind oflike when Phil Jackson was coaching, he

(12:30):
never had to justify himself. Hejust had to like tap all his championship
rings on the table at once. And so the ted Lasso folks, they
don't have to like convince us towatch. They just throw up in that
trophy cabinet full of Emmy's and herewe come checking to see what's next okay
yep, which is much like thevibe that what happened in the official exclusive

(12:50):
sneak peak that was released to Dayon Wednesday, March eighth, where it's
a very short, less than aminute clip and this is new, like
we didn't really get like a sneakpeak clip for season one or two.
But in this brief clip, it'sHiggins, Rebecca, and Ted in Rebecca's
office, a familiar scene to folkswho watched Ted Lasso. Higgins suggests maybe

(13:11):
it's time to update the roster. It gets some new players. Rebecca says,
I agree. Ted says, Ithink the guys we got here geling
pretty good and we're gonna do fine. And Rebecca raises her eyebrows and says,
just fine. Isn't what you toldme we were gonna do. You
said we are going to win thewhole freaking thing right over there before you
spit half a leader of Pellegrino inmy face. And he's like, okay,

(13:33):
yes, ma'am, like we'll doit. You know, he liked
He's like, okay, boss, whatever you say. And so that's I
feel like that's kind of the Appleand viewers like thing right now, we're
just like, okay, Apple, whatever you give us, we're going with
it. But before we move onfrom all of this trailing and sneaking and
peeking and teasing Brett, we wouldbe remiss if we didn't mention that in

(13:54):
that official trailer from February twenty seventh, we got some music. Oh we
did again. They're so good withmusic on this show. We've all said
it a billion times already. Butthe first thing you think is what are
they not gonna get that they want? Because there are at this point so
many things that could be referring to, Like, yeah, Ted did promise

(14:16):
to win the whole fucking thing, are they not? That would be like
maybe the most low sticks thing asfar as like character development, But like,
what does it mean? Does itmean that Rebecca isn't gonna find romantic
fulfillment? Doesn't mean that Ted isgonna not find a way to sort of
reconcile his family. Does it meanthat Nate? Is it just focused on

(14:37):
Nate that like you thought you gotwhat you wanted, but you didn't,
and you're gonna find out what youneed. Like, it could be so
many things, So it's tough togo too deep on that, I think
without kind of knowing what they're thinking, what's what's going on? But I
remember at the beginning when you said, let's not pontificate too much. I
know I here you are just pontificatingall over this podcast. It's embarrassing.

(15:01):
I'm so sorry. The towels andhere's Christian just talking about arousal and teasing
and peaking and his lightsabers cloaking.Anyway, I just want to say,
perhaps, you know, you keepsaying how like clever Apple is with their
like marketing of the show. Nowperhaps it's just for us. Maybe that

(15:24):
song is like quite literally for uswatching this trailer, we're not getting what
we want, but we're getting whatwe need. And just isn't that a
word for today? It is overa word. My reaction when I heard
the Rolling Stones you can't always getwhat you want was WHOA, there's no

(15:48):
Freddie Mercury in this because Freddie Murcuryand Queen they've been a big through line,
especially with these teasers and whatnot. My second reaction was, this show
has a way of killing your idols, and so anything that they kind of
dangle out there, you should verymuch hold loosely because it might be chucked

(16:10):
out the window by the end ofthe first episode. So that really kind
of raps like the official Apple TVreleases of information that we know and has
been widely broadcast to the masses,I would say there are a few other
things that we know that are officialin some capacity or others. Like we
know, for example, that shootingfor this season began back in March twenty

(16:34):
twenty two, so a year ago. It was a long time, yeah,
And it was scheduled to begin evenbefore that, and it was delayed
for a number of reasons. Butlike you alluded to earlier, Christian,
we know that some actors have publiclywrapped because we saw them on social media
getting their rap presence, which isa really cool thing. That what,
Marissa, Nothing. I was justthinking about, like how cool it must

(16:56):
be to have like a really cooljob and then also get a present for
doing your job, and like likewhat and a paycheck and you get to
work with other cool people And hereI am just literally doing my job.
No one gave you a rap presentat the end. No one gives me
presents. I barely get a paycheck. What about the adulation there's adulations,

(17:22):
and so you know, we haven'teven we don't even know for sure that
everyone has wrapped. Maybe they haveand they just aren't telling folks because again,
they want to keep things close tothe chest. That's fine, But
from what we know, people hadsome premature oopsies, you know, like
if we're talking in innuendos here, like people people did things and then had

(17:44):
to take it back. They didthe walk of shame a little bit.
Mostly Nick Mohammed, yes, youguys are referring to Nick Mohammed, jumped
the gun. The actor who playsNate Shelley posted something and then must have
gotten told by some high arabs like, hey, you can't post that,
so it was deleted. Jeremy Swift, you know, extremely like anti heroic

(18:07):
move hero however you wanted to defineit, posted something, then deleted it,
then proceeded to delete his entire Twitteraccount, which is legendary, and
someone should tell him that when peopletell you to delete your account, it's
like a euphemism. You don't actuallyhave to do it, you know,

(18:27):
to take it literally. And thenit seemed to many folks, including myself,
that the official trailer for season twomight have been released a day early.
Of course, it was captured bythe ravenous fan base and like pirated
and shared across the globe, Butthen the video is not available for several

(18:48):
hours from Apple TV, so itwasn't until later that evening that the cast
began to share it officially. Sosomebody or something didn't wasn't firing on all
cylinders, because it seems that thatmaybe wasn't supposed to come out until either
later in the day or perhaps anotherday entirely. While there have been some

(19:10):
deviations from the company line, onething that we continue to hear from almost
everybody is that the show ted Lassowill be three seasons. They've said that
it started and was planned as athree season arc, and Brendan, Jason,
Brett, Hannah, and Bill haveall said pretty much like, yeah,

(19:33):
we're doing three now. We dohear some talk about maybe there being
a spinoff series at some point. You never know, but it does feel
as though when we get to theend of this season a bow will be
put on many of the journeys andstories that we've been following. Yes,
it seems like we're in this weirdtension, and we have been really since

(19:56):
the show took off, and evenwhen folks were waiting for season two and
kind realizing, oh wait, Applerenewed it for a third season, but
that was also going to be thelast season, right, Like we all
kind of like realized that at thesame time, and we're like yeay ah,
and that this has been a lingeringquestion since the end of season one
basically had though. I think it'sbeen something that people have been trying to

(20:19):
manifest, yes, and wish tohappen. But I feel as though the
people actually involved with the show havebeen very consistent with this talking point.
Yes, I didn't mean lingering asin they have vacillated and hinted that it
could be different. More just thatalmost every interview someone asks are you sure
you're not going to do a fourthseason, And there's always the kind of

(20:41):
well, probably not, but maybe, but probably not because we've planned it
this way. We want to stickto our guns. And there really does
seem to be a commitment across thecreative team, especially of like we want
to tell the story that we setout to tell. Now that being said,
they've also made concessions and interviews whenthey have been badgered about this and

(21:03):
said, you know that we didn'tthink people would love it this much.
We didn't think that we would wantto keep going. We thought three seasons
would be plenty to tell the storywe wanted to tell. And maybe that's
not the case, but as faras we know, like you mentioned,
it seems like for whatever, whateverstory they're telling, it will kind of
be like, Okay, this isdone, and if there does and if

(21:23):
there is a continuation or a spinoff, it will feel like a new thing,
and perhaps without many of the samecentral characters, because I just think
it would have to be that wayto be a new story. Well,
and that's like becoming more and moreof the trend with TV now too,
Like we sort of know going intoit about how long these series are going
to be, right, It's happened, you know, in the last ten

(21:47):
years, we don't have these longrunning shows like you know, Friends or
The or The West Wing brilliant. But I mean it's also because like TV
is produced and streamed and it's justwe're consuming it differently, right, So
it's changed the way that we absorbstories. We get them so much faster,

(22:11):
and so I think it's easier forlike viewers to know, like exactly
ahead of time, Like, Okay, this is about how long I need
to like mentally prepare for what's aboutto happen, and how I can embrace
these characters and then move on withmy life slash rewatch it one hundred times.
Yeah, it becomes a body ofwork that you can revisit in a

(22:32):
more meaningful way. I think fora lot of people. And I think
just like we've moved from like wehad the sort of first era of major
prestige TV, like sort of atthe in the late nineties, early two
thousands, and then since the adventof streaming, like you said, Marissa,
the way that we just consume thatand think about these stories has changed,
Like the quality of just even whatthey can deliver has changed. You

(22:55):
know, we're not shooting most ofthose shows are not being shot on sound
stages in Hollywood, like we're onlocation, and like you said, it
is becoming more commonplace. There's beena number of shows lately that I've enjoyed
that have been pitched even to thenetworks this way. You know, when
they did a reboot of the graphicnovel series Watchman and Damon lindeloff of Lost,

(23:15):
and many other wonderful shows. Famepitched it. He said, I
just want to tell one story. It's one season. It's basically a mini
series. Even though HBO begged themto do more. He said, no,
this is awesome. This is andit was awesome, one of my
favorites. But he was like,no, this is what we're doing.
Same thing with a show that weall love, The Good Place, Like
it was kind of pitched as likeI don't know if they set out a

(23:37):
number of seasons, but they said, you know, we kind of want
to do this this type of story. And they announced early on like season
four is the last season, likewe're going to wrap up the story.
And they did, and it makesit so much more satisfying narratively. It's
a totally different feel than like Cheersor Friends, where you do have really
satisfying arcs, but also you're kindof like untethered from time a bit the

(24:00):
happening. Yeah, and again, back then, you know sitcom shows and
shows that you you could only watchonce a week, you know, I
remember, we're not that old,but we're old enough that you know,
I remember if you couldn't watch ashow as it was happening, like you
didn't know what happened unless you wentto the grocery store and you were like,
Mom, like can we get theTV guide and like find out what

(24:22):
happened on that episode, which soundsmakes me sound like super ancient, but
you know, it's like you neededlonger seasons and series so that you could
live with those characters longer. Now, you know, we get to watch
these over and over and over again. It's almost like, you know,
obsessing over being in this world, right. And I also think, like,

(24:45):
especially with ted Lasso, and likesort of the whole reason we created
this podcast like out of the weirdnessthat was the pandemic. You know,
It's like the way that we,like I said before, the way that
we can sue Art and how Artplayed a part in our lives during that
time just makes this show, Ithink, that much more special. And

(25:08):
I feel like we're all still dealingwith lots of you know, lingering effects
and ramifications from the pandemic, andso like having a nice, complete,
like experience with ted Lasso will justgo a long way to I think,
like what people need and why peopleturned to this show and why people got

(25:29):
like so excited about it at thetime where like we didn't have lots of
positivity or like healing or there wasjust so much tension and lots and lots
of people like fighting about everything inthe world. It was like, Wow,
something that like actually brings people together, like a human being who like
desires to like create peace and likemake people around them better. And so

(25:53):
I think, you know, that'spart of why we're doing what we're doing
and why we enjoy being a partof this little corner of the internet world
too. Marissa, something you saidabout getting to live with characters of our
favorite shows for longer reminded me thatfrom what we know, basically the whole
cast is returning four season three, including Doctor Sharon and Trent Krim. I

(26:18):
know there might be some question marksaround Doctor Sharon, especially since she hasn't
been seen in any of the officialteaser trailers or sneak peaks or anything like
that. But there was an interviewafter season two completed airing after Doctor Sharon's
character departed from the show when shehad to take her train and leave Ted,

(26:40):
but Bill Lawrence said that Sharon andTrent would both have quote significant roles
next year. That was obviously awhile ago and things can change. Actors
are always you know, their scheduleschange, their work and their availability changes.
But as far as we know, one of the creators of the show
has said, yeah, she's goingto have a significant arc. I think
the Trent Krim fans would be happyto see how much he was in the

(27:03):
season three trailer. He had quitea bit of screen time, I would
say, for a supporting character, and that's exciting. And so did his
hair. So did his fabulous hair. And like I mentioned, there hasn't
really been any departures that have beenannounced, and we saw pretty much everyone
else in the trailer except for Shannonand Ali, who we don't know if

(27:25):
they'll be coming back, so poorone out for them. We didn't see
them much in season two, ifat all I remember, and it doesn't
appear that they'll be back for seasonthree, so if they do, it'll
be a fun surprise. It doeshighlight that it's difficult to keep casts,
and especially large casts together as theirstar rises collectively. So Ali played by

(27:48):
Jimmy Akam Bulla. We talked tohim about a year ago when the new
Fresh Prince of Bellair reboot was gettingready to start up on Peacock and the
second season has now started there acouple episodes into that, and you know
he's part of that project, andyou just think about how much time that

(28:10):
takes. He even talked about howit was he had wanted to come back
to be a part of ted Lasso, but it just couldn't work out because
of the other projects. And youconsider, like how much busier all of
these actors are, how much moremoney they are all making now. Christo
Fernandez is in a frigging Transformers movie, and Brett Goldstein made a whole nother

(28:34):
show with Bill Lawrence that people reallylove and is about to get him some
Avengers money too, Right, Yeah, I mean like it is raining projects
on all of these folks. Andso just looks good in that what is
that gq ad? Yeah, helooks fresh, Prince of Bella. And

(28:55):
not that it can't happen. Ialways thought, bringing this back to the
beginning, that new seasons of Atlantacould never happen because when Atlanta started,
nobody knew who the Keith Stanfield wasAnd so now, how are you going
to get that guy back for aTV show? How can you who's going
to write the checks to do that, where is it going to fit into
his schedule? And they managed todo it. It took them, like,

(29:17):
you know, ten years to figureit out and get her on the
schedule and get everybody there so itcould happen. But it just really becomes
challenging when stuff gets good to keepit going. And in addition to our
favorite characters that are returning, Applehas announced and confirmed that we will see
at least a couple of new charactersin this season that we should have notable

(29:38):
story arcs. One being a characternamed Jack who is a quote charming venture
capitalist played by Jody Balfour, whois most known for her work in the
Apple TV Plus show for All Mankind. And then we're going to get to
see Ted's mom, which I'm notsure if we know her name actually,
but that will be played by Beckyand Baker, who has been in the

(30:00):
HBO series Girls and also is aBroadway actress and I think will be a
really great fit for that. Sowe have no idea what their arcs hold,
but we're really excited to see whathappens. You know the actors,
but you don't know how they're goingto be portrayed. So you know totally.
Does Teddy's mom have it going on? We don't know, but we'll
soon find out. Is she likeRebecca's mom? She's just kind of like

(30:23):
I hope, So, yeah,I invite that. I would like to
see that brunch where it's just likeRebecca Ted and the mom's all like drunk
on mimosas and playing darts. Wellbased on Ted's own quote from season two
where he said meeting people's moms islike an instruction manual the why they're crazy,
Like, it'll be nice to havean instruction manual for Ted. Maybe

(30:45):
it'll shed some light to his character. And the other thing we do know
is this isn't super specific, butjust based on the little sneak peak that
we got recently and a couple ofinterviews with some of the creative team,
there will be some quote new bloodon the AFC Richmond squad. So we'll
get to see some new players, which will be fun. See how that
the locker room changes and adapts withthis new vibe. And are we going

(31:10):
to have more than two aces? Are we gonna have three or four or
five aces? Five gotta have ahandful of when the Premier League gonna need
pirate sleeves to fit all those acesup there. Heyo, nice one.
So, taking those things that weknow and just knowing what we do about
the first two seasons and where we'reexpecting things to go, I think there's

(31:30):
a handful of what I would callmajor plot points that we're expecting season three
to resolve or at least address ifthey're not completely resolved. I think the
first one for me, and maybethe most important to me, is is
Nate going to be redeemed? Isthere a redemption? Ark? Yeah?
Yeah, can he come back?I mean I don't think I'm not going

(31:52):
to say like in what capacity anda like what like how satisfied will all
be with it? But really,I mean, we're all watching Ted Lasso
like the show for a reason,so come on now, like there has
to be something redeeming or maybe likeyou know, a step toward Yes,
exactly, there has to be someneedle moving. Yeah, And I think,

(32:15):
you know, we don't want toread too much into things, but
the way that the trailer was cut, it almost seems like there's a moment
where Ted and Beard and Ted's sonHenry are attending a west Ham United match,
they're he's not coaching, they're notthere competitively, they're just in the
stands. Henry is even wearing awest Ham jersey, and Nate sees them

(32:36):
in the crowd and they kind ofwave to each other and acknowledge one another.
At least that's the way it's that'sthe way it's cut, which again
to me, like, again, they're very good at head fakes. That
is a tried and true method ofthis team. But it makes me hopeful
that there will be at least, like you said, the needle will move
or there will be a step towardthat reconciliation. Yeah, like speaking of

(32:59):
things that could be a head fakeor not. In that first picture that
we got, Nate and Ted andRupert were standing very close to an elevator,
and we all know what Darth Vaderdid to Emperor Palpatine when they were
close to a shaft. Why doyou keep talking about shafts? And no,

(33:22):
Christian I do have to say,for like the tiny part of the
world that's not obsessed with Star Wars, not everyone knows what happens to those
two villainous characters in their shafts.Darth Vader threw his big bad boss down
a reactor shaft into the middle ofthe Death Star. I'm guessing those words

(33:45):
equal bad things for the Emperor, but some redemption for Darth Vader. What
I'm saying, I can't wait toseet could happen if we get to the
last episode and it says violence nextto the TVM. Just know what's going

(34:06):
to happen when they get by theelevator. I appreciate the heads up.
Ye, it'll probably be some kid, Like how is Rebecca gonna deal with
sort of her enemy at this point? Rupert like showing up several times in
this season because he was largely absentin season two, right, Like he
was around, but he was notantagonizing her quite so much as in season

(34:27):
one. It seems like SE's inthree, we're going to kind of be
back to those old his old mindgames, right, and so I'm curious
to see how that plays out,Like is she and my main question is
not like what's going to happen?Who knows? But is she going to
deal with it in a healthy way? Rebecca is stronger then yesterday, you

(34:47):
know, like we gotta give hercredit and the fact that she's got a
support system this time, whereas thefirst time she was largely isolated and on
that like pedestal. You know, like, no, she's down, she's
on the ground, she's grounded. She's gonna like like take his life.
She's gonna to slide tackle him.Well, when when she attacks him or

(35:08):
when she comes at him, she'sreally gonna be like defending the people who
have propped her up and loved her. So it's coming from such a different
place. It's a Mama Bear energy. If it's I hope it feels less
revenge as it did in the firstseason, and it feels more like,
well, now if she doesn't havethe same motivations, right, She's not
trying to take Richmond down, She'strying to take Ruper down, right,

(35:34):
So it's a different motivation, rightwhile helping Richmond actually be successful. And
then the other question that a lotof folks are going to have surrounding Rebecca
specifically is what is in the cardsfor her romantically? And I think the
two main things are is she goingto get back with Sam? Is she
gonna be with Ted. I don'thave a lot of commentary on that.
I guess I don't really care.I just want everyone to be happy.

(35:58):
One romantic relationship I will live anddie over is Keely and Roy. Really,
I like that, like will literallymess me up to the point that,
like Brett knows that. Like whenI get into a show, like
really into a show, I willwatch it obsessively, like binge it right.

(36:19):
But then I get to like thelast episode or two episodes, and
I won't watch it because I like, no, it's you know, you
like know what's over. And especiallyif I feel like there's something that's like
gonna be wrong with Keely and Roy, I might never finish Ted Lasso.
Well, then we may never finishthis podcast. It's all right because I

(36:40):
don't actually ever listen to this podcast, so no spoilers. What's really important
and the love story that I thinkeveryone out there wants to know will it
be resolved? Is Ted and hislove of Kansas City parteque. Is it

(37:00):
going to consume him so much thathe can no longer stay in a place
that makes bangers and mash and warmbeer. Does he need to come home
to see well his son and alsoeat some great Casey barbecue. See I

(37:21):
was going to say, maybe hewants to go home to be with his
family. But yeah, you're right, it's probably barbecue. I mean,
it's probably both, but I'm justsaying yeah. I think that's the big
final question that the show will haveto answer if this really is a last
season of this story. Is isTad going to find some way to stick
around and keep doing what he's doingin Richmond? Is he going back to

(37:43):
Kansas to be closer with his family. Does his family somehow move closer to
him? Tbd? But I am, again, as I've said several times,
interested and looking forward to seeing howit plays out, and trusting the
writers to and really the whole teamto land us in a place that brings
this chapter story whatever to a satisfyingconclusion. Before we get out of here,

(38:09):
can I make a pitch yet?Disclaimer it's a double pitch for the
Ted Lasso spinoff. I would likefor Nate to get hired to be the
next US men's national team coach, while at the same time, in real

(38:30):
life, I would like US Soccerto hire Jose Mourinho for their current open
managerial position. Manifested art life becomingeach other? Can you imagine? Like,
No, it'd be a disaster,But I just want to see the

(38:51):
disaster. You just want to manifestit into like happening, but you don't
actually want it to happen. ChaosHammer, I'm all about that. Let's
do it, Mercy. You haveany final pitches you want to make,
No, I'm just like excited tosee One of the things we didn't talk
about really was like Keily being herown boss house botch So you know,

(39:15):
I'm always like team Keily, SoI'm just excited to see where she goes
and like what she can accomplish.I have a feeling we're just going to
be like amazed by her. DankKeiely, How'd you do that? Yeah?

(39:35):
