When someone offers a prophetic word, you have choices. You can receive it, put it on a back burner and wait for the fulfillment, or even decide that it wasn’t right for you. But it’s never a good idea to try to manufacture or cause it to happen out of your own strength.
When someone says “I have a word for you” we should always question if it lines up with scripture and more importantly, the character of God.
Why it is so important to learn how to hear God for yourself and not depend on others to hear Him for you.
Whether we like it or not God has planted in us the need for Him. It is primarily a response option. He is the initiator, and we receive. We love because He first loved us. He has proven his faithfulness, established His trustworthiness and demonstrated His love. He has lavished us with His Spirit at our new birth. In an instant with an eternally originated flash we became something that hadn’t existed before: a new creation.
If the call to ministry becomes what identifies us, we can set ourselves up for burnout.
Our discussion revolves around having time expectations about the work God has called us to.
In the first episode, Rick and Jeremy talk about hearing a call to ministry and how sometimes outside influences can shape what we think we are being called to.
I learned at an early age how to pretend. It seemed like there was always something to hide from. The hiding places somehow felt safe even though they weren’t real.
What kind of men did Jesus call to be His twelve disciples? Was John the Baptist the second Elijah? What did Jesus say about the Baptizer? And here’s the good news about “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Men - I should say people - spend their lives working for the single purpose of providing what they need and for what a family needs. Most of us, usually without notice, follow a calling. A career can last forty to sixty years, that’s a lot of time identifying with what you do. This podcast is focused on who you are and not what you do. Rick and author Dave Burchett discuss the problem of losing purpose.
Episode 3 – Steve talks about how we have to guard against the temptation to make Christianity “all about you.”
Episode 2- Steve explains what the flesh is and how it can affect us.
Episode 1- Rick and Steve talk about how Adam lived out of God’s true nature and was completely reliant on Him.
Episode 2: Dan starts off by explaining the difference between redemption and forgiveness and talks about how you can get “closer to God.”
Episode 1: Dan answers the question “Is God disappointed with you?”
Dan talks how much “The Chosen” has impacted his life, and how the entire series is so well done.
