On September 7, 2025, at River Corner Church, Kevin Bradford began by drawing from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, noting that towers symbolize both safety and authority but can also represent false strongholds. He connected this imagery to Psalm 91, where God is described as a tower of refuge, a place of protection and peace for those who dwell in Him
The sermon unpacked how Psalm 91 promises God’s covering, yet Christians still face suffering. Kevin explained that Satan misused Psalm 91 in Jesus’ temptation (Matthew 4), trying to reduce God to a formula. Jesus responded by affirming trust in God even amid trials. Bradford emphasized that God sometimes delivers us from suffering and other times sustains us through it, with ultimate healing guaranteed in eternity.
He then contrasted two “towers”:
Drawing from 2 Corinthians 10:1–5, Kevin highlighted the need to “demolish strongholds” by taking every thought captive to Christ. He noted that thoughts come from ourselves, culture, or spiritual influences, and if left unchecked, they can create negative strongholds. Conversely, setting our minds on God builds life-giving strongholds of trust and faith

Kevin concluded by reminding the congregation that when life’s assaults come, Christians are called to run to God rather than away from Him, finding shelter in the Most High and security in His presence.
Who we are together.
River Corner Church is a growing church community of everyday people who gather to worship God, follow Jesus, and journey through life together.
What we practice together.
Our small church community is uniquely caring, simple, laid-back, and intergenerational. As a church, we want to be a welcoming, safe, and healing community for those who are seeking, hurting, or need a place to belong. Our practices are contemplative (reflective) charismatic (Spirit-driven), conversational, and informative. The times we share together are intentional and intimate, and a mix between modern and traditional. We want to be a place in which love and honor are lived out, where humility is central, and where hospitality is woven into the threads of our community. There is room at the table.
