Topics. I like this topic.
This topic is is called Top R&B Songwriter.
(03:34):
It should be called the real money makers in the music
business. The real money.
Maker, let's change it the. Real the shadow money makers.
Listen. 'Cause.
If I could just write one hit for one person and nobody know
who I am, I've done the things. You've done the thing.
And and that that that idea thatroyalty check will be coming.
Listen every 90 days. Yes, yes.
(03:54):
Or is it every? Quarter, no, no.
ASCAP is every month is every quarterly.
Hello. Running the Queen so.
Yeah, so cool. Get your publishing up, get your
because I got the queen Queens y'all, y'all already know y'all
got your publishing, you know what I'm saying?
So. Actually open our own publishing
company. All you can eat, all nice.
So that's what. Is it called again?
All you can eat publishing. Yeah, that's so officially
(04:18):
official. OK, now.
OK, I told my big pain. She's quiet underneath the
carpet. I just be.
Happy carpet is crazy. Under the carpet crazy.
Why are you digging up the floor?
Under the radar, maybe we're struggling over.
Yeah, yes, the carpet is crazy. Anyway, so so so, so miss Miss
(04:45):
Kendall, we we do a celebratory toast.
So since you are this is your first time, well, first time
hosting, give us something, A toast to give us something.
That OK, Yeah, yeah. Let's toast to life, abundance
and being surrounded by people who are like minded creatives
and who really do this out of the love of their hearts and
(05:07):
passions for the music and to beof service to the world in some
way, shape or form. Toast to life.
I love that. Yes, yes, I got, I got, I got.
Look at guys main, look at guys,'cause I'm not getting no bad
luck. Oh, wait, hold on.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I heard that was a
thing the other day too. Made that up.
I'm so. Crazy as like that superstition?
What'd you say them? Makes somebody lying about that,
(05:29):
but anyway. Probably old, old, wise, old
wise tale. Well, let's get into our first
music break. And I'm telling you right now,
who is this young lady is killing the scene right now?
I mean she is alright where MissK1 yes, that's my shit too.
(05:53):
And this song right here is is probably this is one of the best
songs out right now. It's called back of the club.
She. Would have put on in the Clerb.
Clerb. Clerb.
I got a clerk. She does have an accent she
because she's from London. Don't do her, you know?
Now, was she seeing? Was she seeing the accent be
gone? Maybe gone.
I don't know where. Yeah.
So she ain't from. I'm right?
(06:16):
So yeah, you guys just keep it locked, right?
Here's your man, Kiefer. It's your girl, Tusha.
Your girl Devils and Kendall Cherie.
And what we are. The.
Culture, culture, here we go. Yeah, welcome back to R&D Live
Podcast. You just heard back of the Club
by K1 and man that video was hot.
(06:39):
She's she's ruining somebody life for sure.
Right. Listen to me.
Yeah, yeah. That song was written by Robert
Fairfax, the second Juan Leonardand K Wilson.
Tell them, just so you know, go ahead.
Are you familiar with him or? I am now because since we're
doing it was one of our songwrites.
Absolutely. Yeah, the fact checker has
checked the facts. You know it.
(07:00):
You know it. She's always.
K1 I'm just giving. Yeah, it's a bit sexy.
It's definitely. EP it was.
Definitely. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK, we all up. On it, yeah.
So y'all need to be up on it. And then, you know, fellas, the
shit is fired. Come on now, come on, come on,
(07:20):
come on, all those. How's your wife?
How's your girlfriends? Both the kids.
Both for real for both of them. OK, both of them.
All right, so we back we, we have this, this this wonderful
topic, man. And you know, we're talking
about these amazing songwriters past and present.
(07:42):
I'm going to dive into the past a little bit.
You know, everyone knows that Smokey Robinson probably was the
most underrated writer during his time because they did not.
Well, during the time he didn't,people didn't know that he wrote
like 910 artists, right, that were on the top 100 charts
throughout that whole 60s and 70s.
(08:02):
So Smokey Robinson, big time, big time, you know, writer so.
And he's still getting the checks.
He's still. Getting them after what?
In singing, in touring. I just dropped it, I don't know
long ago. Now let me ask you, let me ask
you a question. Do we?
Do we think you did drop a album?
He just didn't he drop a album like a year or two ago or
(08:23):
recently. We got to Google that now
because you brought it up. Well, come on back, check.
Let me ask you that. I mean, is it too old to be too
old to be on stage? Your job is to write and reform.
You better get your ass on that stage and get that coin.
It's a job. Like I don't understand what
people be tripping off. At least your job.
Well, he it's his job, but. He's about to like.
Well, he ain't there yet. What you want to do?
Some people got shit to do and sometimes you sing on that
(08:45):
stage. I.
Feel like if you could still perform?
If it's in you. Yes, do it, do it, Do it as long
as you can. Now.
Now let me let me say something. If the president can be 98 years
old, he can sing a damn song on that stage.
That's that's a wrong comparison.
It really ain't because if you run in the whole country and you
about to croak, like that's crazy, but he can't get on the
song. He can't get on the scene, can't
(09:05):
get on the stage and sing, but Joe Biden can run the country.
Make it make sense. I'll wait, all right?
I'm just saying. No, I'm just saying because if
you, if you not give me that vocal.
It's OK they buying the ticket still.
I'm not seeing. Listen, if I had to get on that
stage at 79, I'm on the stage at70.
Nine. Well, unfortunately you look
(09:26):
like you're 22. And no, fortunately for me.
You ain't. You ain't gonna look 79.
I mean, but he got to do what hegot to do.
He's smoking the fucking Robinson.
All right, well. So you really have a problem
with it? Are you too old to do sound
engineering? No.
OK, when you get when you get Parkinson's and your hands are
shaking as. Long as my ears are still
working. Like is that?
(09:47):
That's what we're saying. His voice is still working.
And he knew he got. OK, OK, Kendall.
Well, I'm trying to get Kendall's Let us.
Know wait in Kendall. Of all the dialogue, I'm just
listening first. You're trying to see who who's
don't make sense and. Who's make sense?
I think that, you know, different, you know, whatever
(10:07):
floats your boat. Some people do like to perform
as long as they possibly can. And then some people, the goal
is to make as much money as you can, as quick as you can and
then retire and be done. So it just depends on who you
are, what your life is. But if he wants to get on the
stage, let him. Get on the stage who won't stop
him always. It is a job and it's a passion,
like if you want to do it and you know people still, he still
has die hard fans. Like he still got people out
(10:29):
that are paying to see him. So I don't do that.
I mean, I get it, I'm just beingthe devil advocate.
Why though? Why?
Because I like start up conversation.
I. Hate you, it's smoking.
I'm. Just kidding, now if I really
want to start some shit, I just talk shit about Drake.
What about him? You bet not.
Speaking of Drake, he needs to be on this.
List. Oh party next door.
(10:50):
Damn. Party next door is dope.
Come on. So Drake, Drake, Drake doesn't
write his own shit. I'm just letting you know that
I'm just. So so.
You telling me you're in? The room you're in, the room
with Drake when when he first came out and he wrote all he
was. Ghost.
Ghostwriting. OK, yeah, ghostwriting.
So you. Know you know the resources, you
know these people that's. What here's the thing, if we
(11:10):
play devil's advocate, sometimesyou let people write for you to
give them credit for it. Make to get some coin.
I'm sure that he could sit down and write a song.
But if the homie in the studio and he, he writes songs and I'm
gonna put Kindle on it, I'm gonna give Kindle writing
credit. And now I'm doing service for
the community. Hello and goodbye next time.
Thank. You all right?
Let's continue cuz just ain't going nowhere guys.
(11:31):
I'm just letting you know. I refuse to believe that an
artist can sit in the studio forevery album and don't write
shit. Like come on, they got to say a
line or something. Well, I'm not saying he hasn't
wrote any of his stuff, I'm just.
Saying you got to be more specific.
You got to be specific. Kind of saying that.
I keep forgetting it now you sayhe Alright, shit, We got, we
got, he just said we got, we got, we got 2 1/2 Sagittarius
(11:53):
here. Yeah, the other one is close to
us, but yeah, y'all, y'all. She artist.
She's a cat. Capricorn.
A cat. All, my brother, you know all.
Right. So let's go, let's OK, we'll
that's all them licks list list. You, man.
Well, yeah. We cannot.
Is you mad? Where is where is really go?
On without mentioning Missy Elliott.
(12:15):
Oh, for sure, because. She's not just an artist, she's
amazing songwriter and producer.Correct.
I concur I. Concur.
Influencing not only R&B but thehip hop culture as well.
So Missy, she's, she's one of the greatest.
I love her so much. She's just in her own lane.
Yeah, she's always been in her own lane since she's, you know,
(12:37):
come out. So that's what I love about her
unique style and you know, writing for Aaliyah, one of my
favorite artists as well. Let's not forget the first song
that I ever heard. Her own was Seven O 2 Steelo.
Steelo is right, Yeah. Hello.
That's. True.
Yes. People love to.
Forget that Nicole, right? I mean, her list goes on and on
(12:58):
and on, but. We did.
You guys agree that she should definitely be?
On Oh, there's no doubt there isno list without Missy because
how could you make a list without her like.
R&B or hip hop that doesn't Yeah, she's she's definitely.
Paved a way for, like so many people, to be unique and
creative. Yeah, yeah, she gave.
She gave that lane shout. Out to Virginia.
(13:18):
And what kinda what else we haveon the list?
What you see? Stevie Wonder.
Yes. Stevie is just like, he's just
legendary. So of course, being on the list,
he's influenced so many people, so many like shaped R&B.
So absolutely Stevie Wonder. I love it.
(13:40):
I love it. Miss Gabrielle Wilson, known as
her. For sure.
Excellent writer, especially in today's time.
She's definitely has A kept the kept the the R, full R, full R
and BR and B. The.
R&B, essence of music and how music is written, written, you
(14:01):
know what I'm saying? She's actually giving you 16816
eight. Yes, you know, some, some adlet,
you know, some, some bridges andwhatnot.
Yeah. So she's actually, you know,
keeping it 90s with today's typeof sound and stuff.
You know who I think should be on the list is Lucky Day.
Oh, for sure, yeah, he's a good one.
(14:23):
He's. Too many.
Sprinkling his little magic everywhere and he's.
Like a good one. Amazing.
There's so many people. Bruno Mars, I got a whole list.
Neo, we got the dream. Jonte Austin, we got Brian,
Michael Cox, he be doing when itcomes to that R&B, he do his
thing, OK. So what is he saying?
Let me ask you this quite let meask you this.
(14:44):
What does, what is considered a a good writer?
Is it storytelling or reality or?
It's all the things. It's.
It's it's somebody who can I've,I've witnessed somebody hear a
song one time and have the wholesong done.
No pen, no paper, nothing. Just going there and singing
(15:05):
from top to bottom. That's the songwriter.
Somebody who can take nothing from something to make it come
to life for sure. That's a gift.
That's a gift. Yeah, it.
Is I think what I consider like a great songwriter is just
someone who with no bounds, withno limitations, just tells the
story tells, puts reality into away that is digestible for
(15:26):
people to feel it and understand.
It and does it have to have a lot of metaphorically words that
are, you know, that binds. I don't think there's any way.
Not necessarily. Not necessarily because I've
heard songs in languages I don'teven understand them.
Like this is a good ass song. I don't know what they're
saying, but yeah, I like it. You.
Just feel it, you know? Yeah.
I think people being able to, like she said, make the song
(15:49):
come to life. Being able to bring the
harmonies together, the bridge, the, you know, the lyrics, all
of that, you know, plays a part in it.
And I was look listening to Timberland and he does his live,
you know, where he listened to producers and stuff.
But what one thing he has said is making a simple song is one
(16:11):
of the hardest songs to make. Like like a like like you said,
you finally got your thing. What's it called?
Theme song or what's it called? Jingle.
You finally got it. That's probably the hardest
thing to do right. Do a Jingle.
I just. Feel like I mean.
The hardest thing for me as a writer is to not over.
(16:37):
Like if I, if I ain't feeling itin the moment, I don't force it,
but I can be driving down the street and see something, see
the dumbest thing and like a whole song will be like start to
finish in my head and I have to record it like right then and
there. Wow.
But you have people that can just turn out songs left and
right. I've also seen writing camps
where they'll be like, oh, we need a song for Rihanna.
And somebody will literally write a song and it sounds like
(17:00):
it's for Rihanna. And that same person can then go
write a song for Sierra and thenMichael Jackson and then a
Janet. Like they can just write for
anybody because what they. That's just what they do.
Wow. That is a songwriter.
Yeah. Yeah, but that's why they get
paid the big bucks, yeah. They do.
Heller. Yeah.
So yeah, I think, you know, I love how, how I love how your
(17:21):
guys, you know, cuz you guys areartists, how you guys, you know,
bring, bring songs together. You know what I'm saying?
So you're inspired differently, right?
I mean, how what comes to you when you when you're trying to
create a song? Yeah, in my songwriting process,
you know, I am a melody girl. Like, so I don't even worry
about the story sometimes, especially when I, you know, I
(17:43):
work with producers exclusively. So I get a lot of, you know,
exclusive beats that I'm listening to that I'm kind of
flipping through. So when you feel one, it's like,
oh, I like to just go in the booth.
Like the first time I hear, I want to go in the booth and I
want to just freestyle the melodies.
Whatever comes to you because your first instinct, your first
mind is your most creative. And it's the one that you should
not judge. Like, let that part out.
(18:05):
And then once I get melodies, I can kind of go through and pick
which parts go where. And at that point, I like to
fill in the lyrics, fill in the story from there to fit the
melody that I created. And that's how I make my songs.
So that's what I did yesterday. I wrote like 3 songs so.
That is. The day.
I I that was protective. I love I, I tell you that's why
I admire artists, you know, because you guys are definitely
(18:28):
aliens. Because you got to have a little
because. Because.
What's the word? You got to be a bit of a
lunatic. To it, yeah.
Just a little, yeah. A little sprinkle that's some of
the best songs were written where people were high as hell.
All the time. Yeah, I'm just singing.
I ain't talking about weed either.
Yeah, yeah, it could be something.
Else that 70s, like there it wassome shit going on during that
(18:49):
time because how how, how, just how?
How they got there? It's like almost every song on
the album, and I'm talking. Right, in 97 minutes apiece.
Like yes. And for y'all, I don't know,
y'all need to stop doing these two-minute songs because the BMI
ASCAP they pay you more if the songs are 5 minutes or longer.
(19:13):
Oh, they ain't gonna do that. Hello.
This generation don't listen to that.
They don't. Yeah, if y'all worry about.
Your coins quick with it. Yeah, so let's let's take
another, let's take another music break and go ahead.
Who wants to introduce that thisnext break, this next song?
I can't. Even see it Music break #2
Paradise by Jaydon. Yeah, LA Artist.
(19:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Up and coming.
So you guys just keep it locked right?
Here is your man Kiefer. Your girl Tisha Dimples music.
And Kendall Cherie. And we are.
The culture. Here we go.
Yeah. How y'all like that?
Yes, A. Lot to say.
Yeah, yeah. Welcome back to the R&B Live
podcast is. Your boy Kiefer.
(19:59):
Excuse me? I like that.
J Dawn. Paradise.
Yeah, yeah. He's, he's, he's, he's, he's up,
he's up, he's coming up, He's up.
Yeah, he's up. Yeah.
So. I like that he's not over
singing. He has a great tone.
I like the melodies, I like all the things.
And he's a dancer. Yes, pop lock.
(20:20):
Yeah, he'd be doing the pop lockthe.
Falsetto. Yeah, the falsetto is, is is
clean. It's, it's, it's the consistent,
you know what I'm saying? Let's continue on with the
topic. You know the top R&B songwriters
president. I don't know if they're touching
even the surface though, becausewe're only missioning people
that are artists. What about people that we don't
(20:40):
even know who they are? Yeah, let's hear something.
I'm just saying. What you got?
What you got for? Us, well, we have Adonis and I
don't know how to say the last name for sure, but it's
Shropshire, wrote for Usher, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey,
Notable work, My Boo, Usher and Alicia Keys.
We've got a Candice Nelson, she wrote for Timberland Sierra
(21:03):
brand Brandy. Yeah.
That's my girl. Yep.
Andrea Martin, she wrote. Monica's Before You Walk Out of
My Life. I love that song, love that
song. So I think sometimes we also
forget that there are songwriters that we don't even
know what they look like, but they're the mastermind behind a
lot of artists. Yeah.
(21:23):
And a lot of times, there's beenquite a few times where I've
been to the studio and songwriters are the ones that
give the artists that you love their style.
Let's talk about it. I love that I.
Hadn't seen. And, and it's important as as an
artist to have that on your team, right?
You know, for you guys, you know, to bring, you know, they
have those type of people in your camp that could really
(21:44):
inspire you. You know, like you said before,
you know, even as a ghost writer, not a ghost writer, you
want that inspiration next to you so you could be inspired,
you know, because maybe you get a little, you know.
Like some some songwriters will tell you how to sing it, like
how to sound, and they mold yoursound and they write for your
(22:04):
voice. But they are the ones that
sometimes will tell you like singing like this, and then that
becomes your style. Are you OK with that?
Oh yeah, maybe know what they'retalking about.
You can't know everything. You can't be the smartest person
in the room everywhere you go. That's that's I love to hear
that because I've I've been to studios with like the artists
were like, you know, like bro orqueen open up.
(22:26):
Let's let's you know, let's not be all.
Like I love, like one of my favourite duos is probably Chris
Brown and Kevin McCall. Them together.
I'm just singing together. That that sound for me was just
like, right in the pocket. Yeah.
Yeah, no facts, period. Everything.
Yes, Sir. There's one, there's one of
(22:48):
ours. Her name Taylor Prax PRPRPARX.
You know she she wrote for a bignames like, oh, I'm about to
mess his name up, Ariana. Grande.
Thank you. My producer also made songs for
Ariana Grande Sauce Williams. Sauce Williams.
That's right, Sauce. Curtis.
(23:09):
Sauce Curtis Yes, yes, I've heard.
And I only heard that name because of you.
And then I and then I looked himup.
Did you Google him? I checked by Wikipedia.
And he got credits. Credits.
Credits Charles. Yes, he got credits.
Yeah, he's dope. He's a bad guy.
He's so humble too. You'll never know that he even
exists. Right.
Yeah. He'll be mad that I said his
(23:29):
name. Sorry we got to bring.
Him on the show. No, he ain't coming.
He's sad. He don't talk much.
But he's the opposite. He will not talk.
I didn't promise you. He been in the game for so long
he don't care nothing about. It he don't care but nothing
about the nothing nothing about the podcast like.
And I said Wilson Williams is carted sauce Wilson.
OK. Did you guys mention Eric
(23:50):
Bellinger? Oh, yeah, yes, Eric Bellinger,
he's. Definitely got them hits not
only for himself, but he's writing for so many artists for
sure as well. Yeah, definitely.
Yeah. Doing her thing for some
songwriter. For sure, for sure.
Yeah. So I mean, you know, these these
artists, man, you know, like yousaid them.
(24:12):
So there's a lot of them. There's a lot of great
songwriters that are not on in the front frontline.
And I'm sure they love every second of.
It oh money money loan. Definitely, yeah.
Aesthetic. Major Rest in peace.
Yeah, he's he's has some major. Thank you.
Thank you, definitely. We can talk.
(24:34):
About Vic. Monet Yeah, come on now.
They were writing. She actually she.
Wrote She is a writer. Yeah, they wrote.
She's a writer. They wrote before they actually
became artists or before they came out, so.
You know, and sometimes they don't always translate.
Well, some people, they, they are writers and they try to
become artists and they don't translate.
And you can't tell us. No, but I can tell you who did
(24:54):
it right is Victoria Monet. Yeah, and and and and and.
What's her name? The other one?
Karen. No, the money long.
Oh money. Because she wrote.
She wrote many hits way before she even came out with her first
album. First song I.
Love that for them. So, yeah.
So can't forget about Pharrell. I keep saying it.
I might say it again. Pharrell Williams.
(25:15):
He's amazing writer, producer, all things.
I wonder, I wonder, I wonder whyhe hasn't like, well, can't say
that because we don't know. But is, as he wrote, anything
recent? Well, I mean, I don't, it's not
in the R&B realm, but he just produced the Clips album, which
I love. When did that come on?
Yeah, yesterday. See I.
(25:36):
Didn't hear. Yeah, I definitely.
Need to listen to Not only did he produce it, he they recorded
it in the Louis Vuitton music studio in Paris.
It's given reach. Did he, did he do something with
the gospel? You probably ain't no time to,
Pharrell. We doing all.
The things and I think that he produced some music on when he
came out with the movie The The Lego Movie.
(25:59):
I want to say the me. Oh, oh, the Lego.
Happy I think he produced the the soundtrack for.
He didn't do so much he didn't know.
Tell him Pharrell just does all the things at this point you
just trust him or whatever. Did anyone see that movie?
No. No.
No, the dream. Oh yeah, the dream.
Yep. Sean Garrett, Frank Ocean who
else we got Toni Braxton she don't hear too.
(26:20):
She wrote Co wrote many songs toRyan Leslie.
Yes, I watched him actually makea song from scratch on YouTube
and that's what prompted me to make my first song.
Really just so you I, I think I,I think I saw that too.
I went, somebody said he was playing, all the said.
Friends go to the studio immediately.
He is so dope. He took a a couple of pennies
(26:42):
and made a beat. I said yeah.
Wow, like. Yeah, he went from the drum.
I want to say that. Did he play the drums?
The keyboard. And then he wouldn't.
Sang it. Yep.
I'll sell. Yeah.
He is so dope. Damn, he has several mini movies
of this and they're so dope. Yeah, he's yeah, he's a dope.
He is really good. He's open with a bone.
(27:02):
What other, what other unorthodox, and I'm speaking to
the the artist is hit. They're here.
Oh gosh, don't put me on the spot.
I'll always put you on the spot and any what what unorthodox
from a song or or a moment that he said, Oh my God, I can't
believe that came to me from something that you never thought
like how you say you could look at a rock and you got.
(27:25):
A Rock You got you. Got your song.
So is there any anything you guys can remember that that was
like, Oh my God, I pulled that from somewhere?
I feel like just in conversation, it doesn't like,
it's depending on who you're talking to, like friends,
family, like, you know, close people.
When people like, know you and support you, I feel like you
(27:45):
guys start to come up with like inside jokes and stuff.
So like the more conversations you have, sometimes you just
come up with something and it's like, we got to write that down.
Yeah. We're like, hold on, hold on,
hold on. I.
Literally have notes. Wait a minute, Wait a minute.
Yeah. What else do I?
Have, like, voice memos on the spot.
Oh, yeah. So like, acting on that
inspiration as soon as you get it, I think is the key to, like,
(28:05):
great artistry in general. It's just acting on your first
impulse. You know, I heard that Michael
Jackson said that he would literally wake up out of the
middle of the night when he got an idea because if he didn't act
on it, that God would give it toPrince.
And that's the part of the lunatic.
I'm talking about yeah, yeah, maybe not.
Maybe that's not the right word, lunatic.
(28:25):
But you can't be a normal personand want to be an artist in any
way, shape or form because you think different.
Yeah, you're going to be weird to a lot of people.
Right. Because I sing everything like,
I'm so hungry. Oh, yeah.
And then people are like, Oh my God, what is she doing?
Oh, my girl, that's just what I do.
That's just what I do, actually,yeah.
For real. Yeah, I love that.
(28:46):
But but yeah, that's a great way.
But any anything like kind of I'm really I'm just trying to
I'm trying to see like anything OK, weird or something like I
can't believe. That the song?
What song? No.
Good. You remember the first line?
Yeah. What is it?
Bitch, you better. Shut the fuck up, I would never
say. No, no, no, no, you get fucked.
Shut the fuck up. No, you got me fucked.
(29:06):
Up. You got me fucked.
Up and It's for Somebody had me fucked up for real.
I'm writing a song about it. Wow, what?
Yeah. You gotta be fucked.
Up so you gotta go listen to No good.
Yep, it's on all platforms. I need to.
I need. To come on.
It's with all the shits. Yeah.
And I cussed on it. I don't really mean cousin like
that, because my daddy, he was like, what?
(29:28):
That song about you fucked up? It's like it's a hit.
It's a hit. Oh yeah.
Immediately I thought about. I wrote that song so fast
because it was on my mind. Oh.
That's why it just. Slowed down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you have.
To write. Yeah.
Yeah, you was. It was on the main moments you.
You needed some she took advantage of.
Them I definitely. Did he was therapeutic?
(29:50):
I'm gonna write this down. Yeah.
Oh shit, this is good. And sometimes.
You don't even have time to write it a.
Form of journaling. Sometimes you don't Meditation.
Exactly. Sometimes you don't have time to
grab a pen and pencil. You got to hit that record and
sing it. Yeah.
And it sounds terrible until youyou get to the studio and you
give the right producer that canmake it sound like it's supposed
to sound in your head. Yeah.
Damn users, that's why. That's why I like sitting.
(30:12):
I'll sit in a studio of just being the cut.
Just listen to y'all like damn. Same, I do the same thing all
the time. But yeah, I love, I don't know,
I think I don't know about you, but for me, my favorite part is
recording because I feel like inmy mind I go a little crazy.
Like damn, this shit sound weird.
But when they come out and you, you have to get with a producer
and an engineer who understands your vision to bring it to life.
(30:35):
Like totally. And that's the best part.
Engineers and producers has to be.
That's the best part. Like almost like no that.
Is the most important part. They're like the heartbeat in
the brain, like they can have together.
Yeah, you can have a great song and have a terrible like,
engineer producer and like fuck everything up.
Damn. And maybe they're not even
(30:55):
terrible, maybe they're just notfor you.
Or so like being locked in and like being like building a
relationship with your producer, like you should not be switching
as much as you possibly can. Like minimize you know the
amount of producers and engineers you work with because
like when people understand yoursound and like know your sound,
they can help you curate exactlywhat you see in your head a lot
quicker a lot. Faster and push you further then
(31:17):
you would probably have taken yourself so.
Yeah, dropping gems on. Songwriting is crack it.
Is I don't know about all that it.
Definitely is, because right nowI'm having withdrawals from not
being in the studio and I'm literally going crazy.
Really. Yes.
That's why Smokey's on that stage, honey.
So you probably go crazy if you don't perform.
(31:37):
See there you see. OK, see.
Yeah, I just haven't been feeling creative.
But now I'm just like, I'll wakeup on my seat, yes.
Yeah, just comes. To you hey, do you have any
beats for me? I'm ready.
I'm. Ready.
Let's go now. Well, I love it, guys.
I think you know, songwriting isprobably the most pivotal entity
(31:59):
for for music or records. Most lucrative for sure.
Yeah, definitely most lucrative. So like you say, get your
publishing. If you don't have a publishing,
go to What's your What's your name of your publishing company
again? Yeah, I know all you can eat
publishing. All you can eat publishing it's.
A buffet of coins ready to come to your side when you sign with.
All you can eat. Hello.
(32:23):
Yes, yes, yes, but I think that wrapped it up for that for the
for that topic. I love it, guys, shout.
Out to the songwriters, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Love you. And you guys?
And like everything about it like.
Listen to music every. It's every day.
Movies like. It's everywhere.
You literally know where you areand what you was doing, what you
was eating. When certain songs come on, they
make you feel the way. Look look the music has when I
(32:45):
was in my 20s and I know how to talk to females may I used to
use. The no, wait, sorry, no.
No, no, no, but not. Why are you pointing at me?
Who said? Who said?
Who said Zach it? Definitely wasn't me.
Was that you? I don't even know, OK.
Everyone that lists, you know, I'm gonna look at their chords.
(33:06):
I'm gonna go back and say, yeah, she did say that.
No, but you know, music. I mean, the writing and lyrics,
man, they helped me like Mac to a girl.
Really. I'd be taking lines and shit,
you know, like. You know, somebody did tell me
that they used my song Dope Shitto tell a girl that they liked
her. And I was like, now I just need
one person have a baby to my meal.
Second, we're good. Oh, OK.
(33:28):
Let's work for that. I'm working on it download.
She Dems do have one slow song called Take your clothes Off or
clothes off. What's it called That was that
was a death of the. Google it, I'm not sure.
OK, No clothes. No.
Clothes. That song is sexy.
But we taking it up a notch though this time around.
I can't wait. I know I can't wait for both of
you. We're gonna get, we're gonna get
(33:48):
that. We're gonna get that seven piece
band behind you too on this one.Yes.
Of orchestra. Yes.
Yeah, in orchestra. We can relax.
Coming, but let's get into our next music break Kindle.
Yes, we got folded by Keilani. I love this girl Keilani.
(34:10):
Keilani. Keilani.
Keilani Tell. Me y'all, every time he says
something wrong it needs to be acounter.
I know it's not. It's just who?
You are. We just need to embrace it and
make it a thing. As you know as I screw up names.
I know you called me Kendra. I don't know where Kendrick came
from. I think it was Kendrick Lamar
(34:31):
that I was thinking about. That's where it was Kendra
Lamar. Really.
Kendra Lamar Kendrick, New artist coming soon.
Kendrick. Kendrick Lamar Well.

OK? Actually, I got a new game for
you guys. Try out something new, OK?
(35:37):
It's called Hum Fat Tune. Oh Lord, oh Lord, here we go.
That's what I do. So he's going to, we're going to
pick a card and whatever name you got or type of this card,
have an artist or a type of artist and you have to hum that
(35:57):
tune and we have 30. We'll have 30 seconds to guess
it. And whoever gets it right, they
get the point. Can you get that little the
ghetto thing right there? That little ghetto.
Where do we go? Or not ghetto, but old school
OK. At the time or old school timer.
We're going to yeah. So yeah, yeah, it.
Was kind of long, but we'll still work with it.
(36:18):
Yeah, you'll still work. With it.
All right, so pick 2 cards. 02 cards.
OK, we're going to do 2 rounds. OK Damn I need my glasses.
Who wants to be first, oh Lord? Wait, So what if it doesn't?
(36:41):
It doesn't give you the like I got this.
OK, if you know that. If not, you could just pick
another car. We can make it simple.
OK. OK, you laughing?
You want to go first, All right? For everybody.
(37:04):
We have cars. We want to hum that tune and we
have to guess within the timer and whoever gets it first, get
the point. Get the point.
OK. OK.
So Kiefer's going to start. I got to go first.
Yes, because we love you all right.
Hold on. I'm trying to think of a OK, OK,
(37:24):
OK, here we go. Here we go.
Here we go. Wait.
Oh. No, keep going.
We're getting somewhere. Do I, do I, do I get, do I keep
(37:48):
going? Do I give like a little guess?
Like give you like little clues? We only get hummed.
Maybe you need to hum another part of the song.
Wait. Hold on, hold on.
The timer is going. He said where he's.
Trying I'm, I'm looking at the wall right here.
(38:09):
There's like, there's like four groups on the wall.
Right now song so I can win. I'm about to win you.
Have the keeper. We have to name this.
They have to name the song, right?
OK, OK. What time is running?
Yeah, I got it cut. Yeah, it's the same one.
That's chill. It sounds familiar, but it's I'm
(38:36):
not. Keep going.
Aaron Hall, huh? Is, is, is, is, is it?
Can I keep going? I can say, I can say it's a,
it's a, it's a, a group. OK, keep going.
Come on. OK.
We got keep going. Can't.
(38:59):
You see? Is that it?
Almost. What's the verse?
I don't know that it doesn't ring a bell.
I was doing the chorus. I was doing the chorus.
I can't remember you're at. A time, Is that the right tempo?
Yeah. OK.
Yeah, it is the right tempo. Yeah, and and and is the is the
(39:20):
right? That's chill.
Almost, but not quite. OK.
You lose this. Round.
OK, so we got to go on to the next.
Can I? Can I?
Can I tell you? Yeah, you could tell.
Us. It was Black Street before I let
you go, OK? I don't remember that part.
Before I let you go, before I let you go, do.
You were seeing a piece of the terrace.
That was not the color. Well damn.
(39:42):
OK. I was like, oh wait.
Keep going. You didn't.
You didn't get the that's. The Forest.
You know what I mean? Yeah, right there.

half of the, we got the ad libs.We got the ad libs.
Yeah, we got the ad libs. That's my job.
(40:03):
It was sound. It was sounding a little.
From there I was starting to no.I.
I see the vision now, but see. What you tried to do?
My Kendra Kendall. See.
See. It's the alcohol.
That's. Don't be telling me.
OK? So Kendall, you want to go next?
(40:24):
OK, OK, we. Got it.
I'm trying. To think which one I'm about to
do, let me look at it. Superstition.
Yep. She got it.
She got a point. Girl and.
That was not even paying attention.
That's. What I do that's that was quick
(40:45):
OK what you got OK, let. Me think.
Let me think. Wait, no, that ain't it.
I'm trying to think how to hum it.
(41:06):
Let's see. Hold on.
Let me look at it, OK? Come on, girl.
I can't you go ready because I haven't even thought of a song
yet. OK.
All right. OK.
(41:42):

I can't even hug. Oh God.
OK, let me let. Me got this.
It was good, yeah. Let's move operator.
(42:13):
Yeah, I know it wasn't that great, but Alicia got it.
I. Gotta do mine.
Damn, Dimps is like running awaywith this.
OK. I think because you do this in
the car every day, that's what it is.
I think the winner should be theperson who.
Well, you did the the person that that got it to get the
(42:34):
point too. So you get a point.
You got a point that but I. Oh, you humming?
No, I'm I'm trying to figure outOK all.
Right. Go ahead.
You ready here? OK, OK, no one look at me do it.
We're sorry, yeah. We can't look at her.
We can't look at her. It's.
Hard. It's harder to.
It is. It's the same easy but.
(42:56):
When you're trying to do a song all.
Right. A cue.
It's crazy. Yeah.
(43:25):
Yeah. Oh, Danny.
Jackson. Oh, that was good, That was
good. That was good.
I didn't get. That Kendall got that she did.
Kendall got a play. We just do one round.
That's good. OK, Kendall's.
Oh can I? Can I redeem myself?
We got two. You can say he got to do
something, OK. I got one too.

Sorry, I can't do that. It sounds so familiar.
(45:07):
Damn, why? Damn, damn, why?
I can't think of any of her. Is that Sierra OK?
(45:32):
Nothing, Kendall. It sounds familiar.
As soon as she say she says that, we're going to be like, is
it? No, OK.
Is that I don't know. We need a hint.
Yeah, we need a hint. Wait, is there any more of the?
Song. I know that's a crazy thing is
(45:54):
when you on the spot, it's like you're you have a brain freeze.
It's like, I know this song, I know her songs, but why?
You give up, give up. I give up.
I give up. It's on the tip of my tongue.
Rihanna work. Oh no, never mind.
(46:18):

You have to hear it. No, it's a house.
Work work, work work work work. Then it's work, work, work,

that's hard. That was a hard.
One, it was kind of hard, but I was trying.
I was trying, I was trying. And I know she got so many other
(46:40):
songs, but that that one just came to mind.
OK. OK.
You, you, you're doing it a little better, but I can.
No, I can hear it now. I was like, it sounds familiar.
I know. So that's it.
Yeah. Another time.
Oh, oh, oh. I have one more.
She's still picking cars. I'm sorry, I can't hear it.
(47:01):
Wait. Come back.
OK, let me see. We got him take a bike.
Let me think about it. Oh, that's too easy.
Hold on, let me think. I need some points.
I think we need easy. Yeah, easy.
OK. Yeah, we.
Need points We need. Points.
(47:21):
We need points. I do.
A theme song that'll be cute, but it's.
Not take off your head. It doesn't have to be.
It doesn't have to be on the list.
You could. No.
We're just, we're guessing it. It doesn't matter.
That ain't it. I was.
I'm just make it easy. I.
(47:49):
Wanna be down, I wanna be down. I.
Wanna be? Down.
I wanna be, I think, Kendall. We are down.
Kendall got the most points. Hello.

You know I went out the way he asked me to stay.
But you won't change. And drives me crazy out of my

Now I'm saying goodbye. No, I ain't blind.
