But before we get started, younotice I'm I'm wearing a very
festive hat.
Oh, yeah.
Merry Christmas.
For those of you that can't see,it's a stocking cap says Merry
Christmas.
And look at that.
Oh, it lights up.
It lights up.
Yeah, that's right.
Is it rechargeable or does itjust have some batteries?
I think it's just got batteriesin it.
(03:53):
Wow.
But I'm wearing this becausethis is our would be the third

Uh cycling men of leisureholiday gift list.
For the cyclist, for the generalperson of leisure in your life,
we've got something foreverybody.
(04:14):
Oh, we do.
I would agree.
We're getting better.
I mean, every year we we getbetter and better ideas.
SPEAKER_02 (04:20):
I want you to know
as an early gift, I got you a de
Brim pen.
Uh, that's the old de Brim pen,and it probably doesn't work.
It does work, actually, and andI wouldn't give it away.
SPEAKER_04 (04:33):
I just probably the
only pin in your office that
does work.
SPEAKER_02 (04:37):
I do have brand new,
fresh from my office, a Let's
Transportation government pen.
Oh man.
SPEAKER_04 (04:50):
Those are supposed
to be given out to other people
to promote your company.
SPEAKER_02 (04:54):
Yeah, that's true.
That's true.
But as I was trying to signsomething, and then I ended up
putting it in my jacket, andthen uh it ended up in my
office, and so I'm promoting.
I'm promoting the guy at thebank.
I get it.
I don't have any pins at home.
SPEAKER_04 (05:08):
Uh steal a couple
from my bank.
SPEAKER_02 (05:10):
That's why they put
the string on there.
The chain, excuse me, sir.
Could you please put our chainback?
And a let's move to the desk.
Thank you very much.
That's right.
That's right.
Uh, how's the family?
SPEAKER_04 (05:24):
Uh, family is good.
Uh yeah, I mean, things aregoing good.
SPEAKER_02 (05:29):
Good, good.
All things considered.
We'll leave it at that.
Do you uh yeah?
Do you uh are you going to FortScott for Thanksgiving?
SPEAKER_04 (05:40):
We're going to Fort
Scott a couple of days before
Thanksgiving.
Um, we're actually going to bespending Thanksgiving Day uh
with my family.
Um, my sister's coming down fromWisconsin, and uh I'll bring my
mom, and so we'll all be there.
Um, we have not had ThanksgivingDay dinner together in years.
(06:02):
That's awesome, man.
That's awesome.
Yeah, yeah, it'll be good times.
SPEAKER_02 (06:06):
So are you guys
gonna have ham?
SPEAKER_04 (06:09):
No, I think we're
just gonna have turkey.
I wish we were gonna have ham.
I'm a big ham guy, but um, we'rekind of a traditionalist family,
so we'll of course have you knowturkey.
SPEAKER_02 (06:20):
Did I ever tell you
about the vote in our family?
The vote?
Did I ever tell you the story?
The vote?
No.
So many years I uh I'm not a bigturkey fan.
Uh I I could care less aboutThanksgiving turkey.
Now, every now and then somebodydoes smoke a turkey or someone
fries a turkey, uh, like turkeylegs at Renaissance Festival,
(06:43):
but but like just a piece ofsliced turkey on my plate is the
best.
Oh god.
You know, I knew I liked you,but I I a sliced piece of turkey
is like chewing on cardboard forme.
SPEAKER_04 (06:56):
Oh, not if it's
cooked right.
SPEAKER_02 (06:58):
Baked right.
Okay.
Well, that's okay.
I mean, you like what you like.
So, anyways, let me tell thestory here.
Okay.
Okay, this is a podcast aboutstories, and and those who are
not watching can can listen withtheir ears.
So, um, so, anyways, every yearI was a big proponent for ham,
and many years my grandfatherwould say, Well no, uh,
(07:20):
Thanksgiving's about turkey.
And so finally, one year wecaved, and I noticed that nobody
I shouldn't say nobody, manypeople did not touch the turkey.
And I looked around on thetable, and everybody was quiet,
and everybody was enjoying theham.
And I looked down the table.
(07:41):
Now, this is now my family, youknow, in Ohio, it's pretty big.
And so I looked down, I mean,I'm looking down like eight
rows, I mean eight people on oneside and eight on the other, and
everybody is chewing on ham, andI couldn't help myself.
I said, guys, I believe we havemade a breakthrough.
(08:01):
I believe that we here, all ofus, and they all my family knows
that I'm just full of, you know.
Anyways, you get the point.
Full of totally shocking to me.
Yeah, and and and they said, Ohgod, here he goes, here he goes.
And I go, I say we take anofficial vote right now.
(08:21):
All in favor of always havingham at Thanksgiving, including
with those who enjoy that dryturkey.
I want to hear I.
And it was awesome.
First, my cousin kind of said, Icould go for that.
And then everybody, uh, theneven my grandfather, who's no
longer with us, unfortunately, lived almost one week shy of 99.
(08:44):
Even he said, You know, I waswrong.
I'll even vote for it.
And everybody unanimously saidham, and that's the story.
And every year we have ham andturkey at Thanksgiving.
Here's the problem.
SPEAKER_04 (08:56):
No offense to
anybody, but apparently nobody
in your your household or yourfamily knows how to cook turkey
because it's dry.
So there's the problem.
There just wasn't cooking itcorrectly.
SPEAKER_02 (09:07):
My father would take
offense because he knows he
always has orange and then he'sgot the juice and he's got the
oh, well, your father's cookingthe turkey?
SPEAKER_04 (09:14):
Yeah.
Well, then it's clearly youpeople don't understand the
difference between it's not yourdad.
We're not gonna blame him.
I'm not blaming your dad.
SPEAKER_02 (09:22):
I agree, I agree, I
agree, I agree.
Uh ducken?
No, just kidding.
Well, anyways, that's the story.
Uh so your family just doesn'tknow what good turkey is.
They know what good ham is,though, buddy.
Know what good ham is with abeautiful crust on there.
(09:44):
So we're having turkey.
SPEAKER_04 (09:45):
Okay, well, good.
Because that's what the pilgrimsdidn't really eat, but we like
to pretend.
SPEAKER_02 (09:53):
That's right.
I was gonna say you mean when westole all their land and now we
celebrate with a big feast.
SPEAKER_04 (09:58):
So I'm gonna bet
there was no turkeys there.
Exactly.
You probably had venison, mayberabbit.
I bet there was no turkeysthere, maybe duck.
SPEAKER_02 (10:11):
That might have
worked, but actually, um, you
know, we'd go to uh holidaynights at Greenfield Village.
Um, a lot of historians there, you know, telling stories, and
they would they would actuallytell, I mean, each each house
that you go to at GreenfieldVillage, Henry Ford, they're
like, oh, this is what theywould have made back in those
days.
And so it was always veryinteresting for me.
And so trying little pieces andstuff.
(10:32):
So it is tasty.
But, anyways, I thought youwould appreciate the ham story.
I'm happy that you and yourfamily are getting together for
Thanksgiving.
Uh, Lauren has started a new joband she does have Thanksgiving
off.
But she has to work on BlackFriday.
Um, and uh deal.
No, everything's online now.
It's not like we go to thestores and go, we gotta get the
(10:54):
new TV.
SPEAKER_04 (10:55):
Black Friday is not
what it used to be, you know,
when people get up at like twoin the morning and stand in line
for hours and open the doors andthere'd be this big rush.
Now, you know, they've beenhaving Black Friday deals since
the end of August.
Uh, probably since January.
Well, maybe.
Hey, it's black door, uh it'sblack uh Friday deals in July,
(11:17):
you know.
SPEAKER_02 (11:17):
Exactly.
Uh now, just as I this isnon-planned, but I have to ask
you, uh, are the sharps lookingfor any special uh discounted
items?
Uh listen, let's be honest whatBlack Friday is.
Black Friday is a way to get ridof the old product, and that's I
(11:38):
mean, you and I are intelligentenough to know that, but let's
be honest.
Are you looking for any uhspecial items?
SPEAKER_04 (11:45):
Uh I don't believe
so.
Gotcha.
And in light of recent events,uh, I really don't know what
we're doing really at thispoint.
I've been a little busy.
SPEAKER_02 (11:57):
I understand.
Should I share?
Yeah, I think you should.
SPEAKER_04 (12:02):
Uh as a lot of you
people know, uh, I and Adam has
said many times, I'm a businessarchitect.
I can was contracting uh for agovernment entity.
Um, and uh I was given mypapers.
So um I don't have a job rightnow, so I'm not really like in
(12:23):
the head zone of like, what arewe getting everybody for
Christmas and all this?
I'm on the head zone of whereelse can I send my resume and
and you know, got to get readyto interview and all that kind
of stuff.
So I really haven't got into thespirit of things.
Other than but I'll get there, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (12:45):
Well, on a serious
note, I mean you're you're my
best friend, and I'm I I'm sorrythat you're going through this,
but hey, we worked on yourresume together, and uh I mean
you you 99%.
I just ran it through a tool anduh um yeah, polished it up a
little.
Polished it up, and I meanthat's what we do.
SPEAKER_04 (13:04):
You know, I've been
laid off before, and the other
times I've always came out of itahead, so you know, hopefully
this will be the same, the samesituation, but you know, always
in the back of your mind you'rethinking, uh, maybe this time's
different, so we'll see.
SPEAKER_02 (13:21):
Uh listen, I uh
how's your driving record?
SPEAKER_04 (13:26):
Uh my driving record
is pretty spotless.
SPEAKER_02 (13:28):
Can you pass a drug
test?
Absolutely.
I mean, I'm just saying, justlike Canude.
SPEAKER_04 (13:37):
You're just saying I
could move up to Michigan in the
wintertime and drive a bus.
SPEAKER_02 (13:41):
All I'm saying is in
rounders, uh, when Matt Damon
lost his complete bankroll, umKanish had the truck for him.
And I'm just saying, I could getyou a bus driving job.
SPEAKER_04 (13:54):
Ma'am, ma'am, stay
behind that yellow line.
It doesn't mean anything, butstay behind it because my boss
will get mad if you step overit.
It means nothing.
There's no real rules for it.
SPEAKER_02 (14:06):
Oh gosh, you know,
pretty good.
SPEAKER_04 (14:08):
I see, I'm boom.
SPEAKER_02 (14:11):
Anyway, I don't
think so.
Well, listen, uh job offerretracted.
Yeah, quickly, quickly, quickly,quickly.
Uh, all seriousness, I wish youthe best.
(14:32):
And I, you know, I'm thinkingabout you.
So um, which while you'reenjoying some of your tasty
bourbon, I will say that kind ofputs a kind of puts a pause on a
few of you have uh written usbehind the scenes.
I'll get into Jim Russell herein a minute about our plans.
Uh uh our friend Virginia gaveme a call.
(14:54):
Um, I didn't feel like me haveany business sharing your story,
so I'm glad you shared it hereon the show.
So uh kind of puts a pause onwhat we're gonna do.
I mean, uh let's see here.
I teased you about uh golflessons, and you said I could
either go for golf lessons orfeed my family, and Lauren and I
laughing because it was funny, not at you, but we we we got a
(15:17):
kick out of that, and so Ithought, yeah, honey, honey, uh
feed the family, but I've got my20-session golf league, you
know, golf lessons.
SPEAKER_04 (15:25):
So you guys think it
gets skipped today, lunch and
dinner, because I gotta gopractice golf.
No, well, you know, here at theSharp family, we are not, you
know, the ship isn't sinking oranything at this juncture, so
we're still okay.
But you know, you just have tostart planning ahead for uh, you
(15:45):
know, time that uh the checkmight not be coming in.
They were very fair with me.
I've got nothing negative to sayabout the company that I work
for because it's a separatecompany that then contracts for
the government, so it's notdirectly with the government.
I work for an intermediarycompany there, and they are
treating me very well and thattype of thing.
(16:06):
They just didn't say, hey, youknow what?
Take a hike.
So they just didn't turn thelights off.
Yeah, you know, they were givingthey gave me a little bit of run
room here for me to be able touh take care of my stuff.
So it's good.
SPEAKER_02 (16:20):
Well, once you uh
reland the job, uh we'll put
some plans together for our 2026cycling season.
Um and uh we'll we'll figuresomething out.
SPEAKER_04 (16:31):
So yeah, it's it's
hard to plan when you don't know
where you'll be working, whatyou'll be doing, and if you have
time off to do it.
SPEAKER_02 (16:37):
So how about
something a little more
positive?
You want to jump into listenerspotlight?
Absolutely.
I'm ready to go.
Uh, ladies and gentlemen, it isnow time for listener spotlight.
SPEAKER_04 (16:55):
All right.
I know we had a few people takeguesses.
What I'm gonna do first is Iwill give you what the uh the
hints were.
Okay, and then you can tell uswho uh who guessed what.
That sounds wonderful.
Okay.
Uh this community was named fora town in England.
It was first settled as part ofanother town.
(17:18):
It was incorporated in the1700s.
The town is responsible forgreatly increasing industrial
productivity across the UnitedStates.
Uh tracking time was veryimportant to this city's
development and history.
And the city maintained names,oh, the city has maintained
(17:40):
names for certain neighborhoodsthat reflected its past
industrial history.
SPEAKER_02 (17:48):
All right.
What do people think it was?
We have a few different guessesthis time.
We've got um hey Connie, this isthe segment for your favorite
husband.
Armando has said uh Newark, NewJersey.
Um Matt Robinson, I know youcall him Mark, but I call him
(18:12):
Matt.
Uh Waltham, Massachusetts, andum Alex Bell, our good friend,
uh Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
I must ask you.
Yes, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Uh I must ask you, has any ofour guesses got it correct?
SPEAKER_04 (18:35):
One of our guesses
is the correct guess.
SPEAKER_02 (18:38):
Oh.
Let's see.
I was gonna take a guess becauseI have no clue.
I'm gonna go.
Well, our friend Armando is theonly one who actually gave us
some some information here.
I'm gonna say that Newark, NewJersey.
(18:59):
I'm going with him.
SPEAKER_04 (19:00):
Okay.
That's fine.
You can you can go with him.
SPEAKER_02 (19:04):
Uh oh.
Um not sound good.
SPEAKER_04 (19:06):
You know, uh, the
Pennsylvania, very good choice
when it comes to industrialmanufacturing things.
Um, New Jersey, they did a lotof production with the leather
production, that type of thing.
But I am gonna say that uh bothArmando uh and Alex are
(19:30):
incorrect.
Sorry, guys.
This episode's listenerspotlight community is Waltham,
Massachusetts.
SPEAKER_02 (19:41):
Hey, I call him
Matt.
You call him Mark.
Nice job, buddy.
I call him the correct answer.
SPEAKER_04 (19:51):
Waltham was named
after a town in England, Waltham
Abbey.
Uh, it was part of originallyanother town called Watertown,
corporated in 1738.
The town is responsible forgreatly increasing uh industrial
production across the U.S.
due to the development ofintegrated manufacturing.
(20:12):
And what that is, is they werereally the first community uh
that started utilizing the ideaof taking all the processes of
textile manufacturing andputting them in one place, one
building.
Before, you'd have these peopledo this, these people pick the
cotton, these people, you know, did the gin of the cotton, you
know, these people did theweaving.
(20:33):
It was done all over the place.
Um, everything was done in onefacility.
Um the city maintained names ofcertain neighborhoods that
reflect its industrial past.
If you go there today, you willfind a community named the
Bleachery, which is where theybleached and dyed wool, uh, and
(20:54):
a play called the Chemistry, which was uh a former chemical
plant area.
And the best one, and I thoughtsomeone would get this.
Tracking time was very importantto this city's development and
history.
This city is known as WatchCity, and that is because if
(21:16):
anybody knows anything about uhpocket watches, certainly
antique pocket watches, WalthamWatch Company was founded there
in 1854.
It was one of the world'slargest watchmakers.
Uh, it they were the ones thatactually pioneered in uh
interchangeable parts.
So, you know, before it was justeverybody, you know, you make
(21:37):
the part for the watch, youcreate the here they just made
everything standardized,interchangeable.
Hey, that's not working.
I can slap a you know uh gearout of here, stick it right in
there, and it and uh thatworked.
And um, unfortunately, theyclosed in 1957, but from 1854 to
1957, a little over a hundredyears, they produced over 35
(22:00):
million watches.
Wow.
And as a uh antique andcollectible person, um yeah,
Walt Waltham uh pocket watchesare highly collectible and worth
uh some of them uh worth a gooddeal of money.
So wow.
Well also made a lot of railroadwatches too, which was a big
(22:22):
thing back then.
If you were a railroad guy, youhad to have a very pr precise
timepiece.
SPEAKER_02 (22:28):
Um I I you know, I'm
not being funny, but every time
I saw like the railroad, theyalways pull out a pocket watch
out of their vest and they'relooking at, you know, so that
was a thing.
SPEAKER_04 (22:39):
Railroad people had
to have very precise watches
because they wanted to keep thetrains running on time, and
that's why you see them, they'realways pulling it out.
Is it time to go yet?
Because they wanted to try tomaintain the schedule.
So there you have it as the timeclicks or ticks away.
SPEAKER_02 (23:07):
Well, thank you, all
listeners.
Thank you, WalthamMassachusetts.
SPEAKER_04 (23:11):
Waltham,
Massachusetts.
SPEAKER_02 (23:12):
Uh thank you
everybody who listens or watches
us and our crazy shenanigans.
I have two things before we getinto the gift list.
Okay.
I first want to spotlight afriend of ours.
So Jim Russell.
Is that that name rings a bellagain?
SPEAKER_04 (23:34):
Absolutely.
Yeah, we've uh ridden with himin Georgia many times.
In fact, uh last year, first dayof Georgia, uh we had lunch with
him down at uh one of the localrestaurants.
SPEAKER_02 (23:43):
That's correct.
We gave him a patch, uh, and youknow, he's uh old blind dog and
and good friends of our youknow, everybody else, and uh but
uh he wrote me and he said,Adam, I'm not doing brag this
year.
And of course I was intrigued.
I I I I wrote him back, I said,Is everything okay?
(24:05):
And he said yes.
He said uh uh I'm cheating here.
Uh he said um he said iteverything is fine, that he was
going to ride uh a cross countryroute, and and it was right
during Bragg, and it's uh May28th through August 9th.
Um they're going to uh uh rideuh 2026 cross-country adventure
(24:29):
will traverse 14 states over 10weeks.
Um he's gonna highlight of theuh the curious aline trail.
Did I say that right?
Oh, coward coward lane uh trail,uh camping and riding in Glacier
National Park, views of theNiagara Falls, cycle the coast
(24:50):
of all five Great Lakes, andriding the North Coast Inland
and Empire State Trails.
Now, here's the interestingthing.
If Jim rides the entire thing, one of the overnight What do you
mean if?
When Jim rides the entire thing.
Well, I hope he is, but then hesaid, Are you guys gonna jump on
(25:14):
for a couple of weeks?
And I was like, Well, buddy, this is your thing.
I I'm letting you um but theroute comes down the center of
Michigan near Bay City, whereyou and I have ridden before.
We've been there a couple times,yep.
And it comes through Durand, andand the route comes right in the
(25:40):
right near you.
Yeah, that's what I told him.
I was writing him like ride outto meet him.
I could I yeah, yeah.
I mean yeah.
Ride my car out to meet him.
Uh Jim, how would you like anice comfortable place to stay
for the night?
Uh looks like he's going to thetop of Ohio.
(26:03):
Oh, and then uh going out toPennsylvania and and yada yada
yada.
But yes, um cool.
SPEAKER_04 (26:10):
Well, good luck to
Jim.
I mean, that's awesome.
I know he's been doing a lot ofriding because he's been posting
a lot of pictures, so that'scool.
SPEAKER_02 (26:18):
Says cycling gives
me freedom, focus, and peace.
It's where my mind and body workin sync.
Being autistic means I see andfeel the world differently, and
on the bike, the differencebecomes a strength.
I noticed every detail, therhythm of the ride, the sound of
the wind, the smoothness of theroad.
Cycling isn't just a sport forme, it's therapy, independence,
(26:42):
and connection all in one.
So I thought that was reallycool.
So uh we wish him the best.
Uh he's training like crazy.
And um so this says for 18 yearswe've enabled hundreds of new
and experienced cyclists aliketo tackle incredible adventures
by bicycle, and we'd love foryou to join us.
(27:02):
Close, just kidding.
Um, our rides are focused on uhserving God and each other with
the raised money for familiesaround the world, building and
repairing homes through theFuller Center of Housing, which
is what I think our friend Sarahdid.
SPEAKER_04 (27:16):
I was gonna say,
isn't this what Sarah, who's
been on our show for that uh fora cross-country ride, I think
that she was doing it throughthat organization.
Cool.
The other thing I have, and nowbefore we move on, my question
is Yes, did we get Jim a shirt?
I think we did give him a shirt.
Yeah, I gave him.
I hope we did.
(27:36):
Jim, you need to wear the shirtone day for us, man.
Yeah, we gave him a shirt.
We it was right on the side.
I thought we did.
SPEAKER_02 (27:42):
Yeah, I think we
did.
SPEAKER_04 (27:43):
You need to
represent, take a picture, send
it to us, we'll post it.
And if not, Jim, uh, I'm sure Ican find you one.
Just give him a short.
I know a guy, Jim, who can hookyou up with a shirt if you need
a shirt.
SPEAKER_02 (27:56):
And listen to the
Christmas list pretty soon, hint
hint.
I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_04 (28:01):
What else we got?
I want to get to the Christmaslist.
SPEAKER_02 (28:03):
I know, but this is
my head is getting hot here, so
well, I mean I'm not the onethat put a stocking cap on in my
basement.
It's called being festive.
I should have had some Christmasmusic.
SPEAKER_04 (28:15):
You know, I would
expect this from a Thanksgiving
ham ham eater.
That's what I would expect.
SPEAKER_02 (28:21):
Okay, anyways, what
I was gonna say is um I have
something exciting to tell you.
I do too.
All right, great.
So, our friend Ryan, RyanRoanick.
We we had him on with BruceWhite when we talked about the
9-11 trail.
SPEAKER_04 (28:41):
Yes, yes, yes.
So it was an interview uhprobably a year and a half ago.
SPEAKER_02 (28:46):
Yes, sir.
Yes, sir.
Well, he listened to our showand heard us talking about, you
know, supporters, subscribers, and ladies and gentlemen, I am
happy to tell you we not onlyhave one, not two, not three,
not four, not five, but now asixth monthly subscriber.
(29:07):
Ryan, thank you so much.
We really appreciate you.
That that brings us to hey, Ialmost blew it.
Do you know what Ryan Roenick,Alex Bell, Scott Garwick, Emery
Norris, Dennis Keeler, and JoeGrammar all have in common?
Uh yeah, actually I do.
SPEAKER_04 (29:28):
And oh, you want you
want me to tell you?
Oh, I know what they have incommon.
These individuals wanted ortried to invent a new sport,
combining a pogo stick, a hulahoop, an interpretive dance, and
it caught on.
And it's called Nowhere.
(29:49):
It caught on nowhere, but wegive them kudos for trying.
SPEAKER_02 (29:54):
Well, uh that's
pretty close.
But these individuals are allwilling to bring their wallet to
help kick the tires down theroad, keep the pedals a rolling,
keep the show a going, and wethank you.
Yes, we do.
We we certainly, certainly do.
All right, your turn.
SPEAKER_04 (30:15):
Um, for the people
who watch our show, for the last
four months since I broke thatuh fractured my clavicle.
Um behind me, there was justthis wall that was half painted
and looked horrible.
But if you look now, look now,my friend, the acoustic paneling
is up.
SPEAKER_02 (30:38):
So I I think it's
really cool.
And I had to tell you, I have totell the the watchers and or
listeners what I said to you.
So you and I were having uhheart to heart, and you told me
about the job, and and I said,Well, why'd you finish the wall?
You're gonna about to have sometime on your hand.
You should have waited.
SPEAKER_04 (30:59):
Yeah, I shoved that
in at my nights when I could
have just waited and did it onmy uh days when I'm not working,
but uh turned out pretty goodfor a guy who's not, you know,
necessarily a construction guy.
But so now I've got my acousticpaneling put up.
The other thing is I have towait on the whole design of the
rest of the studio because ifI'm not gonna be working from
(31:20):
home like I've been doing thelast five years, six years, uh,
I don't need two desks in here.
SPEAKER_02 (31:27):
I know.
I mean, I was thinking about youwhen you said that you may not
be working at home anymore.
I'm like, are you gonna startlistening to a podcast if you
have a commute to work?
Uh probably not.
You're a radio guy, huh?
SPEAKER_04 (31:40):
I'm a radio guy,
yeah.
I want to know what's going ondowntown around what happened
last night.
Nothing good.
Nothing good.
You're the one that listens tothe the you know who kills who
on the podcast.
SPEAKER_03 (31:55):
Only thing left was
bloody football, foot footprints
in the snow and uh pocket knife.
Was it Dave or was it Cindy?
SPEAKER_02 (32:05):
I'm I'm just who
cares?
SPEAKER_04 (32:08):
Well, both of them.
SPEAKER_02 (32:10):
Well, listen, my
wife always says, I don't know
if I like you listening thatstuff.
It's like you are educatingyourself.
I said, Honey, there wouldn't bean episode every time I go out
from my workout every day ifthese people all didn't get
caught.
So, all right.
Well, anyways, we're gonna moveon.
(32:32):
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it isnow that time.
You have a family member.
You have a friend.
You have somebody that you knowthat's into cycling or leisure.
You have a Christmas gift forthat horrible office party that
you have to go to.
You have to get something for awhite elephant.
(32:54):
You have to do something whereyou're trying to throw something
together.
Ladies and gentlemen, Michaeland I have the solutions.
Yeah, Michael and I have workedtirelessly on how to help you.
And this year, we've even doneit better.
SPEAKER_04 (33:09):
We have to, I'm very
impressed with this year.
I put a lot of thought intomine.
I don't know how much thoughtyou put into yours.
So, but um go ahead.
You want me to get thingsrolling?
Yes, sir.
Because I've got it here.
All right.
You know, for the cycling man orwoman in your life, cousin,
brother, husband, mother,sister, whomever.
(33:33):
Uncle Bob, uh, you know, hauntedLarry from Maine.
You want to drop him a gift?
Um, I've got the ultimate giftright here.
And uh, for those of you thatare watching, you can get that
person cycling men of leisureapparel.
That's right.
You can get hats and t-shirts.
(33:54):
We've got links on our websiteto our store hats.
Uh, you can get, I don't know,in four or five different logos.
I mean the cycling men ofleisure, cycling women of
leisure.
You can get the cycling men ofleisure.
It's for women too, and thecycling men with the little X
out and it says woman above it.
We have them all on there.
(34:14):
You can get hats, differentcolors.
You choose a logo, you choosethe color.
Hey, there's a hat right there.
Shirts, sweatshirts, anythingyou want.
And then if you just really, ifthere's somebody you really like
or you really want to scorepoints for, you go over to our
tech store.
It's a different link, but it'son our website.
(34:35):
Go over to our tech store.
You can get them uh jerseys, thefull kit, bibs.
Uh, we have mountain bikingshorts.
Um, you I mean, we've actuallyeven got the uh what's it
called?
The jersey, the jersey orwhatever.
The jersey uh the shirse.
The shirsey, the thing thatlooks like a collared shirt, but
it's actually a jersey.
(34:55):
We've got those.
We've got what I'm wearing rightnow, which is my personal
favorite.
It's called the tech hoodie.
Basically, for the people thatcan't see it, it is like a
lightweight hooded sweatshirt, very lightweight, but made out
of technical fabric.
It's got the logo on it.
Um, all sorts of good stuff.
So that right there.
(35:17):
Um, and that concludes our list.
Um, what else we got to talkabout?
SPEAKER_02 (35:23):
Uh well, we don't do
politics.
We don't Christmas wish list isdone.
Yeah, well, listen.
Uh I'm I'm and and um uh WalterMouthell.
I um I have some items that arenon-sacklemente of leisure.
(35:49):
Although I don't know why you'dget anything else.
I'm just kidding.
Um this is under$25.
Now, what I've done this year, and this is I think we've done a
much better job.
I have some price points.
I have under$25 for the quickoffice gift.
I have somewhere between$25 and$50.
(36:12):
I have$50 to$100, and then Ihave above$100.
SPEAKER_04 (36:17):
Now, you brought up
the office gift.
Yeah, I'm thinking maybe Ishould do this with my family.
Get them a shirt or or jersey orsomething and give it to them
because I know they're not gonnawear it because they don't do
cycling.
They might wear a t-shirt or ahat, but you know, get them like
some of the tech gear, and thenguess what?
It's got our stuff branded allover it, and they're gonna turn
(36:40):
around and re-gift it to someoneelse.
And that person's probably notgonna want it, and they're gonna
regift.
We could have cycling men ofleisure being re-gifted like a
hundred times ten years fromnow, somebody's still getting
that brand new tech you knowjersey because it's just been
handed around to a bunch ofpeople that don't bike.
SPEAKER_02 (37:01):
Well, I'm glad you
went there because I thought you
were gonna say something for theoffice.
And I'm like, dude, you've beenlaid off.
You don't have an office party.
SPEAKER_04 (37:08):
I didn't have an
office party anyway, but all
right, you know what?
The people in my office aregetting nothing from me this
year.
SPEAKER_02 (37:16):
Not that they ever
did, because I am gonna start
with something fun.
All right.
It actually has the word fun inthe in the item.
Fun cycling socks.
Now, this could be purchased atmultiple locations.
I do believe in supportinglocal.
(37:36):
Jeff Bezos already has a superyacht.
You don't have to help him.
If you're in a bind at the lastminute, you could buy it from
him, but I really think youshould shop local at a bike
shop.
And you can go there.
And most bike shops do have somefun cycling socks.
SPEAKER_04 (37:52):
Um now let me
clarify.
Are we talking like fun cyclingsocks that I would wear like
with my you know, dress pants?
Or are we talking like cyclingsocks I'd wear out on the road?
SPEAKER_02 (38:04):
I would say cycling
socks that you would ride while
cycling.
Okay.
Um, and I'm gonna bleat myself, but our friend Armando had uh do
epic and and stuff like that onthe socks.
Um sometimes you can get somefunny, some funny things.
Some kind some art picturessometimes, but just cycling
(38:25):
socks that are not just like redor blue or white.
They have all kinds of designsand everything.
Like my shirt.
SPEAKER_04 (38:32):
My personal is the
uh the scream, the artwork, the
scream.
SPEAKER_02 (38:37):
Oh, yeah.
That's pretty good.
And like Joe, the Joe had ourfriend Joe had like uh shut-up
legs and stuff like that, youknow, on the socks.
So you can do a nice, a nice, fun pair of cycling socks.
Uh a cyclist or someone wholikes to you know be active
would appreciate that.
SPEAKER_04 (38:54):
That would be a nice
gift, uh, that would be a nice
stocking stuffer.
SPEAKER_02 (38:57):
It would be.
There you go.
What else you got?
I have um the king of ding.
The king of ding.
This is the handlebar bell.
Okay.
Let me tell you something.
SPEAKER_04 (39:17):
Is this really what
it's called?
SPEAKER_02 (39:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (39:19):
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02 (39:20):
It's the king of
ding and the king of ding too.
It is a handlebar bell, and ithas like a little brass bell on
it.
And let me tell you something.
Uh, watching the video, thisthing is loud.
I mean, I've seen a couple onthe road where you you know you
can really you hear them, youknow.
You know, we we have bells onour bikes just in case someone
wants to do something a littlecrazy.
(39:42):
Uh, but let me tell yousomething.
Oh, yeah, very nice.
The king is like, no, it soundslike a like a solid brass ding.
Okay.
Oh yeah, but still, a handlebarbell.
Um, you know, what happens is islike when you got a young a
(40:02):
young child gets a bike, youknow, they're like, oh, you
gotta put streamers and a bellon it.
But honestly, when you're doingtrail Oh my gosh, guys.
Okay, I'll stop playing.
Sorry.
That's all right.
Uh uh on a serious note, sometimes having a bell could be
a nice safety feature.
Um, you're you're riding andsomeone either has airpods in or
can't hear, uh, which notsupposed to, but okay, yeah,
(40:26):
right.
Just because you're not supposedto do something, people still do
it.
Um, but sometimes people don'trealize they're coming up close
to you, or you know, you and Ihave been at Ragbribe before
where people are coming over, just a nice bell to be able to
be like, hey, I'm right here, man.
So well, they're not gonna hearyour bell at ragbribe, but I get
what you're saying.
SPEAKER_04 (40:43):
That's true.
I have to agree with you.
Because the guy next to me's gothis you know full woofer speaker
on the trailer behind hisbicycle, you know, playing ACDC.
SPEAKER_02 (40:56):
This one needs a
little work.
Um, I was a little bit uneasyputting it on here, although I
think the concept is good.
Um boy, this is no, no, I thinkyou'll like this.
Everybody likes their productsuh when they're cycling.
What I mean is some people likethe powders that they put into
their water bottle.
SPEAKER_04 (41:16):
Some people like I
thought you were gonna mean
like, you know, my hair gel, myface lotion, my product.
SPEAKER_02 (41:23):
Do you do you even
need hair gel?
unknown (41:27):
Wow.
SPEAKER_04 (41:29):
And this ends the uh
road adventures of cycling
middle leisure.
SPEAKER_02 (41:33):
It was been a good
three years, buddy.
It's been a good three years.
Uh on a serious note.
What I mean is you're gonna wantto make sure to kind of know the
cyclist for this gift.
Like a variety box of likeeither their favorite granola,
but granola bar is kind ofboring.
But what I mean is like gooblocks, you know, energy blocks,
(41:55):
some people like um, you know, hammer, hammer, hammer products.
Uh find out the flavor, youknow, that that the cyclist may
like.
And these are always goodstocking stuffers because when
when it comes that first cyclingride they can do, I mean, for us
who live in in a tundra, I knowour friends in Georgia are still
riding.
As you mentioned, Jim ridesevery day.
(42:17):
Um, but that first that firsttime out might need a little
extra caffeine pep in the step.
So yeah, so you're talkingprotein hydration type stuff.
Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_04 (42:28):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (42:29):
And and so this show
didn't go like 85 hours.
I only have three items underthe 25 trying to give you your
shot too.
SPEAKER_04 (42:36):
Okay, well, let me
um mine are gonna be between uh
really the 10 and 49.
Let me start with the uh thelower end ones first.
How about this?
Customized bike stickers.
I like that.
If you if you see like theProCyclist, a lot of times
(42:57):
you'll see their name is like onthe thing.
Well, you can get those.
They they sell them in severalplaces.
Customized bike stickers.
Um, the one place that I've I'veuh utilized um is the JRS
Decals.
You look them up online, JRSDecals.
Uh they're like$13.
You can get eight of thesedecals.
It has your first name, yourlast name, and like the American
(43:19):
flag on it.
I mean, it you don't want theAmerican flag, you can put, you
know, the Dutch flag or, youknow, whatever.
But um, they're really cool.
You can personalize your bikewith them, or you know, I don't
think you need to personalizeyour bike with eight decals.
Uh, that's a little much, butyou could also put them on your,
you know, if you have a bikebox, things like that.
(43:41):
So um that's one I thought wouldbe a lot of fun.
Um, my next one is a crankysweatshirt.
And this is from uh the folks atuh pintervolt.com.
And what it is is a sweatshirtand it's got like the wheel
(44:02):
crank on it, and underneath ithas the word cranky.
That's pretty cool.
And I guess I like this becausemy family thinks I'm a little
cranky sometimes, probably allthe time.
That's okay.
Um I just think it's a coollooking sweatshirt.
Yeah, no comment from you.
Oh, oh, go ahead.
Uh, it comes in gray, red, black, or blue.
(44:24):
It's just a hoodie sweatshirtwith the crank on there saying
cranky, okay, which I think isfantastic.
And then uh and uh oh, thecranky sweatshirt's like$30.
The next thing I'd like to talka little bit about is the
Storobrook vertical bike standfor the garage.
(44:47):
And you know, I myself, you knowme, I hang it.
Uh a lot of people put it on thewalls.
This is bike, this is a verticalbike stand where you put the
back tire in it and it selfstands up on its own and it's
got casters on it.
So if you've got your bike overhere on the left and it's like
it's in the way, you can justroll it right over to the left.
(45:08):
I mean, you can just move itwherever you need to, and your
bike stays upright, and uh it'sa great energy, you know, kind
of efficient type thing.
I really thought that was a goodidea.
SPEAKER_02 (45:18):
That's pretty cool.
Yeah, I've seen a couple of themwhere you have the bikes that
you put a couple and you canactually fold them over up
against the wall in the garage.
You know, I have that thingwhere I hang them on the wall
like pieces of art, and um it'sit's got its pros and its cons.
It's great, you know, because wedon't have any family and our
kids.
SPEAKER_04 (45:36):
But you know, it's I
like this just because it's not
permanent anyplace, and if Ineed to utilize a section of my
garage for something, I slide itover to you know, roll it over
to another another part of thegarage.
SPEAKER_02 (45:48):
That's a good idea.
Yep.
SPEAKER_04 (45:50):
So um I'll do one
more and then turn it over to
you.
Okay.
The next one I think I'm gonnado is not cycling, it's more of
the leisure.
You're done cycling, it's nice,it's either fall, spring, or
summer.
And uh you like to grill, I knowthat.
Oh, yeah.
And uh this next one is for theleisure person that wants to do
(46:12):
a little grilling.
And what it's called is calledthe Big Step Large Capacity
Round Grilling Basket, Amazon$33.
And what this is, is this isjust a round basket that fits on
your grill.
It's probably, I don't know, seven inches in diameter, and uh
(46:34):
just a wire basket, and this isbrilliant.
You can put like vegetables inthere.
You know how you're cooking, ifyou cook like shrimp or
vegetables or something, youknow, you always lose some uh as
it falls down between the grillslats.
We just throw everything inthere and you can, you know,
grill your shrimp, grill yourvegetables, you can rotate it,
(46:55):
um, all that kind of stuff, andyou don't have to worry about
any of it like falling down intothe flames.
SPEAKER_02 (47:01):
But that's next
seat, next, next grilling's uh
seasoning, smoking of the oldmeat.
I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_04 (47:08):
Yeah, yeah, there
you go.
Uh it comes in gray or silver.
Um, it includes a heat-resistantgloves and also a lifting fork,
so you can like reach in there.
Uh, you can just roll them whenyou want to when you want to
turn whatever you're cooking.
And it's even cool as you caneven be patriotic about it, is
this is uh an American productand they have an American flag
(47:29):
engraved on the end of it.
So you get that too.
But I thought that was brilliantbecause I hate, well, you know,
my wife's always like here'sthese vegetables.
And if you don't like skewerthem or something, yeah, they
just like go everywhere and youwind up losing stuff down the
slats, and it's just like, man,you just throw it in there and
you can just like rotate it andgrill it or smoke it, whatever
you want to do.
Um, the big step, largecapacity, round grilling
(47:52):
baskets.
That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_02 (47:54):
There you go.
That's pretty cool.
Uh yeah, I've got a uh astainless steel vegetable basket
that I that I use, but I meanthat would be cool too.
SPEAKER_04 (48:03):
So but it doesn't
does it have a top on it, or is
it just the bottom basket thing?
SPEAKER_02 (48:07):
Bottom basket.
SPEAKER_04 (48:08):
See this, you can
just roll it.
SPEAKER_02 (48:10):
That's cool.
SPEAKER_04 (48:10):
Yeah, I need to turn
it.
Boom.
You don't have to like, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (48:13):
So with the with the
glove.
SPEAKER_04 (48:16):
Well, or the lifting
fork.
One of the two.
Yeah, just don't stick your handin there.
Might I say that it let me putthe uh the caveat here that uh
uh we are just presenting ideasand that uh any of these ideas
that may turn out to uh burn ahouse down, cause harm, break a
clavicle, or anything like that,we are not responsible for.
SPEAKER_02 (48:36):
So have you checked
with legal and all these things?
No, I'll have to run that bylegal later.
It's like oops.
If you don't mind, that'd begreat.
Yeah, I'll take care of that.
Um, all right.
I've got three things.
This is in the$25 to$50 range.
Okay, this is about$32.
(49:01):
Now I I don't know why, but Ijust thought this was kind of
cool.
If I were to receive this, thiswould be pretty neat.
So let me write it down.
All right.
Well, I figured you're notworking.
I don't know.
Oh yeah.
You have no Christmas for you.
SPEAKER_04 (49:16):
Kids need to eat
spam.
Come on.
SPEAKER_02 (49:20):
So the Stanley um
phase craze of of water bottles
and all that is going nuts, right?
Or still was going nuts.
Maybe, maybe it is ending thephase, I'm not sure.
But there was something that Isaw that was really cool.
It is the camelback insulatedsteel bottle that fits in your
(49:43):
bike, uh, bike, you know, cradlethere on your bike.
It's like a basket, the waterbottle holder.
Water bottle holder, exactly.
This is not like the regularrubber one that you get that you
get up and you go and squeeze.
This is stainless steel with thesame tip, you know, and but
it'll keep it nice and cold.
(50:04):
The same tip though.
SPEAKER_04 (50:05):
I mean, does it does
it free-flow out?
I mean, you know, because likeon the ones you have to kind of
squeeze them and then they suckback out.
SPEAKER_02 (50:14):
Yeah, it says the
podium steel bottle combines
uncompromising material withdurability, weighing in at 354
grams.
This mid-bottle weight is nearlyindestructible, double wall
insulated, and features 22 ounceof capacity that'll keep you
hydrated anywhere, anytime.
(50:35):
So it's it's double insulated.
SPEAKER_04 (50:37):
It's okay.
That's uh, you know what?
I like I like that because we'vetalked about this before how
water bottles like break downand how you know you gotta get
rid of them over time.
This is something that you couldhave for a longer period of
time, and it's insulated.
SPEAKER_02 (50:53):
As opposed to
reading the entire article, I
will read this part.
It says it's reinforced, a dailydriver, like the titanium model
that you can take with youeverywhere.
We love this for our commutes, adventure rides, and general
office use after work.
It stays cleaner, is durable, and has a competitive flow rate
to your plastic bottles with nosqueezing required.
SPEAKER_04 (51:17):
There you go.
That answers my question.
How much is that?
$32.
And where can I find that at?
SPEAKER_02 (51:23):
REI, the feed.
SPEAKER_04 (51:25):
Um, the feed is
okay.
That's cool.
SPEAKER_02 (51:28):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (51:29):
Um big feed, they do
a lot of advertising and the uh
the tour.
SPEAKER_02 (51:33):
So cool.
Cool, cool.
Um, the portable phone stand.
Now, remember Portable phonestand.
Now hold on a second.
Uh I'm not the one who broughtthe ring light so you could do
your own TikTok videos onairline.
I'm just kidding.
You didn't want to do that.
SPEAKER_05 (51:53):
I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_02 (51:55):
What's the what's
the Ophelia, whatever song by
Taylor Swift that everyone'sdoing right now?
But um uh no, uh, this is aportable phone stand for when
you get with your post on ride.
You've taken your shower, you'veate, and maybe you want to watch
the YouTube, or maybe you wantto watch, I don't know, whatever
you want to watch.
Whatever you want to watchCycling Men of Leisure on
YouTube.
Absolutely.
That would be one.
(52:16):
This is a phone stand fortraveling, um, and it's it's
pretty cool.
So I I I'll give you the link tothat.
And um, it's kind of one thatpacks up a little bit, folds
down like a transformer.
You're paying for convenience ofbeing small that comes a little
bit large where you don't haveto hold it.
So um this one go ahead.
SPEAKER_04 (52:37):
That brought up an
idea.
You know what we should do?
One of the rides where we takeour Milwaukee pack outs, we
should pack a TV, and we couldflip up a TV, and then we could
just show our you we could haveour YouTube videos hanging out
at the campsite.
SPEAKER_02 (52:51):
Uh absolutely.
And then when we walk by, have abig uh QR code that people could
follow us.
unknown (52:57):
That's right.
SPEAKER_04 (52:58):
Actually, if we're
using like uh a uh charter
company, we just slide it downthere in the charter thing and
say, Hey, you don't want to talkto the guy next to you, you can
just watch our our uh ourYouTube things.
All right, just another uhmarketing idea.
SPEAKER_02 (53:11):
Now, this one I
think every cyclist and you uh
anyone in your household who isa cyclist would would like this.
Um and they have differentbrands of these, but this is a
cycling multi-tool.
They have Park Tool has them,Crank Brothers has them, Rock
Bros.
Rock Brothers has them, everybody, REI has them,
(53:31):
everybody's got them.
And they rank them.
Oh, yeah.
Well, yeah, and and I've gotthem too.
So uh and we've actually usedthem uh many, many times.
So go ahead.
SPEAKER_04 (53:43):
No, no.
Um that's a good idea.
The other thing people need tounderstand is you need to check
your the tool.
And I would making a joke, yeah,I've got one, you've got one,
we've all got one.
The point is, we've ran intosituations where if you have
them like in your bike bag, eventhough bike bags say they're
waterproof, they're not reallywaterproof, they're more water
(54:05):
resistant.
Um, moisture does get in there, and if you don't pay attention,
I think we had one with youwhere your parked or your tool
literally rusted.
Yep.
Because it was in the bottom ofyour bike bag, you didn't ever
pull it out because you didn'tneed it.
When we did need it, moisturehad built up over there in a
couple years and it had hadrusted.
(54:26):
So, two two points.
Number one, check that.
Uh, probably at the end of theseason, you should take
everything out, dry everythingout if there's moisture in
there.
Um, but those do need to bereplaced over time.
I mean, not only do they rustand that kind of thing, but you
know, the uh if you use themenough, they start to get you
know dulled down and don't workas good.
So it's uh you can really neverhave too many of those.
SPEAKER_02 (54:49):
No, and the only
thing I want to make sure is is
if you are buying this for thecyclist in your life, you might
want to see what kind of cyclistyour uh uh gift E receiver is.
If they're my point is, is ifthey're a mountain biker, look
for one that would be a mountainbike tool.
If they're a road biker, lookfor one that's a road bike.
If they're you know back andforth or e-biker, uh I don't
(55:12):
know.
Which why I've never I don'tknow what tool need.
SPEAKER_04 (55:15):
Do you need one for
an e-bike?
I don't know.
SPEAKER_02 (55:17):
I don't know, I'm
not sure.
Uh but um but I guess I wouldsay if it's a road bike or
mountain bike or or or gravel, gravel seems to be very popular.
So I mean, see if we'll see whatkind of cyclist your uh gift
receiver is.
So absolutely.
Uh all right, I'm gonna let yougo next.
SPEAKER_04 (55:37):
Okay, I've got a
couple more here in the uh$10 to
$49 range.
Um this is a little different.
This is a book, and this book'sentitled 50 States 5,000 ideas
book.
You can get it on Amazon at forlike$13 for paperback or$42 for
a spiral one.
And what this is, is this is forlike road trips or if you want
(55:59):
to take a day trip or something.
Um just interesting things youmight be able to experience.
Have you ever experienced thelargest yard or the longest yard
sale in Tennessee?
No, Squamp Tour in Louisiana?
Well, I talked to Scott aboutexperience it, not talk.
No, you haven't.
(56:20):
Dinosaur Trail in Colorado.
No, no, oldest street in NewYork City, no.
Wait, uh, it has all thosethings and more Civil War battle
sites, dude ranches,out-of-the-way museums, and more
are all in this book.
It's by National Geographic,it's got a lot of good
illustrations and showcases thebest travel experiences in every
(56:43):
state, from the obvious uh tothe unexpected.
It also includes um a section onthe Canadian provinces, our
friends to the north, uh, andU.S.
territories.
So if you're leisuring about inyour car and you want to
experience some crazy zanythings, some interesting things,
(57:03):
some historical things, thiswould be a great book to have.
Uh, you know me, I like roadtrips.
This would be a perfect leisuregift for somebody.
Uh,$13 or$42 on Amazon could bea lot of fun.
You know, go out there andexplore America.
SPEAKER_02 (57:21):
Well, next thing I
have are are things near the
airport?
Uh they could be.
Just kidding.
Go ahead.
SPEAKER_04 (57:30):
Things near the
airport.
Um, I'm gonna say there'snothing in this book that you
can look out the uh uh waitingarea of the airport and see.
So tough luck.
Uh you gotta get out of theairport, dude.
Um, the next thing I have uh isa set of wooden bourbon drinking
(57:51):
glasses.
And this is by Misoli uh brand.
It's on Amazon.
You can get two glasses for$37.
Um, for those of you watching,if you've been paying attention,
I have been drinking out of oneof those glasses the entire
episode.
Um they're beautiful wood forour listeners.
Uh they got beautiful wood grainon them.
(58:11):
On the inside, it's like acharred.
I mean, it's not charred, but umbecause they've got a coating
over it, but they look like theinside of a charred barrel.
Um, beautiful grain, very niceglasses.
Um, they're great to put in thecamper or to take out in your
garage if you're worried thatyou know, might have one too
many and drop it or something,it's not gonna break.
(58:33):
Um pretty good gift idea.
They're 13 ounces, and uh, Imean, the only maintenance is
you got to just hand wash themand dry them.
Perfect for enjoying thatbeverage outside.
Uh take it down to the pool, youdon't got to worry about it.
So, and they work really well.
I've had it set for quite awhile.
I keep them out in my garage.
Let's go.
(58:57):
You want me to go next foranother one?
SPEAKER_02 (58:59):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (59:00):
Now I'm moving into
the 50 to the$100.
First one on this one is theAero Saddle Pack.
And you and I have tried tons ofdifferent bags, hanging them on
the back of the seat, underneaththe bar, on top of the bar.
I mean, you name it, we'veprobably tried it.
(59:22):
Um, some more successful thanthe others.
But this one just came out.
This is called the Aero SaddlePack.
You can get it from the bikebrew online for$50.
What this is, is it's a 3Dprinted shell uh with injected
molded plastic uh mount insert.
And it is really skinny.
(59:43):
It fits right underneath yourbike uh seat on the back.
It's very aerodynamic.
Uh, it's actually designed onthe back of it.
It has a a uh a fixture so thatit will fit a Garmin uh Vera RTL
515 radar, just attach right onthe back.
(01:00:04):
So you don't have to worry aboutyour radar.
You can have this on here.
It's got two compartments.
It's got one, you take the radaroff, there's a compartment here,
and then there's a compartmentup underneath, but it's all like
plastic, um, very aerodynamic.
And um, like I said, that radarwill fit right on the back, nice
and solid there.
Uh, I thought it was a greatidea, and it gets away from that
(01:00:26):
thing that we mentioned beforebecause no water's getting into
this one.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:31):
That's cool.
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:32):
Yeah, so check it
out.
Um, the bike brew,$50 aerosaddle pack.
What do you got?
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:41):
Um well, I was gonna
mention a bike top tube pouch,
but I think I like what you justtalked about better.
SPEAKER_04 (01:00:50):
Uh but this bring up
the tube pouch because it really
depends on the kind of bikingcycling that you're doing.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:56):
True.
True.
The tube pouch is is um just tovisualize if you don't know, is
basically it goes on the toptube, um, and it can hold, you
know, you and I use those newplastic tubes, um, very
aerodynamic.
Um, we can put a couple in therewith your with your tools.
I mean, basically, you'relooking at a device that's
(01:01:17):
that's about uh I don't know, maybe trying to think, maybe
like uh nine inches by like fourinches, if you think like of a
mass like that.
And inside there, you could haveyou could have a couple tubes,
you could have CO2s if you ifyou don't have a pump or or an
(01:01:38):
electronic pump.
Last year we mentioned the um uhwhat's the brand name of that?
The pumps, yeah.
Forget now, but uh thebattery-operated pumps about
about rechargeable that youdon't have to sit there and
pump, you know, you can justwake up the whole camp by going
brrrrrrr.
(01:01:59):
I forget right now, but um, youcould put one of those in there
because they're so small now.
Basically, and uh to go bag tofix any tire anywhere um anytime
you go riding.
So um what's this made out of?
This is uh uh more of a like aharder canvas.
SPEAKER_04 (01:02:22):
So and it's whatever
how does it how does it lat?
Is it zipper or is it like uh Iknow sometimes now they're
magnetic.
What's that?
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:29):
It's straps around
the around the yeah, some um you
know that's both of oursolutions would work.
SPEAKER_04 (01:02:39):
You know, and a lot
of it depends on what kind of
rider you are.
A lot of people like it.
Uh, the ones on the bar.
I mean, you and I both had acouple different styles of that.
Is while you're riding, youknow, you can just unzip that,
keep one hand on your thing, unzip that and get into what you
need.
Um, whereas something behind youis a little less accessible.
(01:02:59):
Um, but if you're just keepinglike tires, you know, stuff, and
you're you're gonna be off yourbike when you're getting into
it.
So I think it depends on uh whatyou're wanting to use it for.
If you're wanting it for snacksand stuff, your s yours would be
a better option.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:16):
I was trying to get
you the measurements.
It's three-layered constructionpolyester, EVA foam and and TPA
fabric for wet and rainyconditions.
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:26):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:27):
Although you are
correct, and that over time,
time after time, as Cindy Lauperwould say, I did have some
moisture built up in my my myI'm thinking years though, that
that that that tool was inthere.
SPEAKER_04 (01:03:41):
I think it was.
Um, the problem with them is youknow, they have waterproof
zippers which aren't technicallywaterproof.
And if you have the fabric thatcomes down over top of the
zipper, there's still, I mean,water's a tricky beast, you
know, it kind of gets in everyplace.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:56):
So this next one I'm
really excited about.
And, you know, you you teased methe beginning of this episode of
how much effort I put into this, and I appreciate your I
appreciate your ribbing, sir.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:09):
So uh do we want to
get into how much effort you put
into this?
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:13):
So, anyways, uh
actually I looked, I did cross
out a few items, but this one'spretty cool.
Okay.
All right.
You know that feeling that whenyou get the bike, you know, you
get some service done.
I mean, you go to Andy's, right?
And and you get your bike.
What what's the guy where youget your bike?
(01:04:34):
Eric.
Eric, sorry.
SPEAKER_04 (01:04:36):
Andy Andy's is the
ice cream place.
I go there too.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:39):
Well, that's me.
That that's a good feeling too,right?
I mean, like ice cream.
I love ice cream.
So uh Eric's.
When you go to Eric's, you'vedone this before, and he's like,
Oh, you need a new set of rubberfor the tires, and you need some
of this.
You gonna you're gonna go on anadventure, and you're like,
Yeah, I don't want to breakdown.
Well, you know that feeling whenyou get brand new bar tape,
(01:05:03):
you're like, Yeah, throw somenew that is like Cyclist
Nirvana, right there.
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:10):
It's like, oh, it's
squishy and this is how heaven
feels right here.
Right, it doesn't last very longthough, but enjoy it while you
can.
Like the new car smell.
Oh, this is great.
So here's what I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:22):
How often do you go
out in the garage and look at
your bicycles hanging there?
Like, I mean, how often do youreally take a look at them?
I don't.
They're on there on the ceiling.
That's the whole point.
I don't have to see them.
Exactly my point.
If you're trying to do somethingspecial for the cyclists in your
life, oh, I see where you'regoing here.
(01:05:42):
Be very, very careful.
But wait till the person's atwork or they're on a trip.
Thank you.
And and and no, that's okay.
SPEAKER_04 (01:05:52):
Just had a delivery
that gets back to a story we
just did.
So go ahead.
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:56):
I love it.
So uh, and get the had take theperson's bike, go down to your
local bike shop, shop local, shop local, and and get some new
bar tape, like premium bar tape.
SPEAKER_04 (01:06:11):
The stuff that's got
like some cushion in it.
SPEAKER_02 (01:06:14):
Yeah, yeah.
And then put the bike back.
SPEAKER_04 (01:06:19):
So, what you're
basically proposing is that you
steal someone's bike.
SPEAKER_02 (01:06:24):
But yeah,
reappropriate borrow.
SPEAKER_04 (01:06:27):
But yeah, I mean
here's what's gonna happen.
Cass is gonna take my bike downfrom the top thing.
She's gonna take it down toEric's, get new bike tape,
because my old my my trainingbike needs it because that's the
one I had the accident on andjust ripped the heck out of, and
I had the good bike tape on it.
She's gonna take it, my bike, probably the new one, um, down
(01:06:48):
there.
I'm gonna not have a job, so I'mjust wandering around the house
going, what do I do?
Well, somebody call me, offer mea job, I'm bored.
And I'm gonna look up there andgo, Oh my gosh, my bicycle is
gone.
Yeah.
And then I'm gonna say, Wherecould it be?
No one else would have touchedmy bicycle.
And then you're gonna And thenI'm probably gonna text my
(01:07:08):
daughter at school, which shedoesn't, you know, not supposed
to have her cell phone and can'tanswer me right away anyway, and
say, Have you seen my bike?
And like two hours later, I'llget this message back saying,
Dad, I'm at lunch.
I don't know where your bike'sat.
I haven't seen it.
It's like it's not here.
Someone has stolen my bike, andI'm gonna be calling the police,
the Lewisburg PoliceDepartment's gonna be out front
writing up a report.
My wife's gonna pull up, youknow, two weeks before
(01:07:30):
Christmas, and uh we'll have tospill the beans that she stole
my bike to get it taped.
But I love the idea.
SPEAKER_02 (01:07:37):
I'm just saying this
could go horribly wrong.
Well, here's what I'm thinking.
If don't forget that your giftgift receiver may be on a
texting list from the bike shop.
So make sure.
SPEAKER_04 (01:07:52):
Oh, hey, we've got
your bike done.
SPEAKER_02 (01:07:55):
Exactly.
What do you mean my bike isdone?
SPEAKER_04 (01:08:00):
Yeah, you're the one
that stole my bike.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:03):
Exactly.
So make sure if you're gonnatake the bike bike, you know.
SPEAKER_04 (01:08:08):
I like the idea.
You just gotta make sure they'renot going to notice it.
Yeah.
And that you're right, they'renot gonna get notified by their
local bike shop saying, Hey,guess what?
We got your bike finished.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:20):
So but here's what I
envision on Christmas morning or
or whatever, you know, Hanukkahmorning.
Ticked off at my wife that shestole my butt.
No.
You know, you get a box, and inthe box it says, Let's go out to
the garage, you know, andthey're like, a new car.
SPEAKER_03 (01:08:36):
No, a new bicycle,
yes.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:39):
Uh and then of
course, when you the bike's
already done, and that and thebike, bike, bike, but uh uh
premium bar tape job is alreadydone.
I thought that might besomething fun.
So I love it, and I love newbike tape.
SPEAKER_04 (01:08:53):
And I think if most
cyclists are like me, you don't
get it retaped as often as youprobably should.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:59):
Oh gosh, no, I've
stretched it, I stretched it all
year long this year.
SPEAKER_04 (01:09:02):
And it's a lot, I
mean, it's a lot of effort just
for the bike tape.
Now, if you're taking your bikein for something else, it's
like, yeah, throw some new biketape on that.
But just for the bike tape, it'slike, I don't really want to
load this up just for the biketape.
And honestly, I could do thebike tape myself, but then I'm
like, man, I'm just lazy, aren'tI?
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:20):
I can't do that.
Third grader would do a betterjob than me.
I tried it one time and Iwrapped it and I got to the end.
I'm like, are you supposed tohave 14 inches left?
SPEAKER_04 (01:09:30):
So you know, well,
I'm gonna have a lot of time, so
maybe I'll take that up as ahobby.
Um, no, what I I was trying notto interrupt you too much with
is my daughter, I texted her andshe brought down the original
air pump that we got.
Two years ago, we had mentionedthe the Psi Plus is the brand.
(01:09:51):
It is a uh I apologize for thefolks listening, but it's like
this oval, long oval lookingthing.
Looks like the little Tic Tac uhUFOs they always talk about.
Yeah, it's got a removable hose, you put it in there, you can
program it.
Um got a little programmablething here.
You can program it to, you know,80, 90, 100, 100, up to 120, and
(01:10:12):
you just put that in there andhit start, and it will just
literally pump up your bicycletires.
And um, the reason why this onewas so easy to get to, it
actually does car tires.
I just went over to my mom'shouse and aired up her car
tires.
Um, and it fits in a littleholder where one of your water
bottles would go.
Since this one, we did get thePsi Plus, it has smaller ones
(01:10:33):
that are like these littlesquare ones that will fit right
in my back pocket.
And I have since uh upgraded tothat.
But uh Sci Plus, if you're we'llhit this one again, if you're
looking for a uh rechargeableair pump, Psy Plus is a brand
that we have used and are veryhappy with.
SPEAKER_02 (01:10:49):
So speaking of
rechargeable, okay, rechargeable
bike lights, bike light set.
SPEAKER_04 (01:10:59):
Okay, and when when
you say a bike light set, what
are we talking about?
SPEAKER_02 (01:11:03):
So a bike left and
right, port starboard, red and
green, what what port andstarboard, I think you're but uh
I you know uh there's manydifferent, there are so many
different right now.
I mean, if you went to Amazonand typed in the word bike
light, oh my gosh, you'd beinundated.
(01:11:24):
I think you want a high lumen,um rechargeable bike light that
your cyclist can can have forsafety.
I really recommend personally, Imean, just personal opinion, is
one that flashes.
Um and I would definitely checkout the specs for that.
You're gonna be your cyclist isgonna be seen better um with a
(01:11:47):
nice high lumen.
I'm talking 800, 900, 1000, 500,I mean, and and one that
flashes, a good flashing light,uh, daylight, and and I would
search the word daylight, highlumen, flashing, things like
that.
Um and then a set where I'mcoming from is this is not
included a radar.
I'm gonna get into that in justa second.
(01:12:08):
That's above the$100 pricepoint, but and un still staying
under the$100 price point.
A set to me would also be a rearlight, which is normally red.
That could be some some brandslike Bon Trager call it a flare.
You know, other other it doesn'thave to be called flare, it
doesn't be Bon Trager, but anice bright um and don't look at
it on Christmas morning, don'tbe like, hey, family, look at
(01:12:30):
here because burn your burn yourretinas.
It'd be pretty bad, but I that'swhat I mean by set.
And I think uh I've searched andand I found a couple sets under
$100.
SPEAKER_04 (01:12:41):
So oh yeah.
If you care about your cyclists, that is a great thing.
Um, it's just smart.
Um, you know, we're here ofaccidents all the time, hear
from friends and stuff saying,oh, somebody in my bike club got
hit and stuff, and that's notgonna guarantee that you're not
gonna get hit, but it'scertainly gonna give increase
your odds greatly.
And it's being there.
SPEAKER_02 (01:13:01):
So raise the
insurance.
So um the only thing I'm gonnacaveat is let's talk about radar
for a second.
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:11):
Well, that's going
above the hundred dollars.
It is.
Well, why don't I do my thingand then you can still at the up
to a hundred dollar thing?
SPEAKER_02 (01:13:18):
That sounds good.
SPEAKER_04 (01:13:20):
All right.
These next two aren't cyclists.
Uh, like I said, we kind of wenton the whole leisure thing.
What I found I think would be agreat thing if you have a uh a
leisure person at home thatenjoys beverages, uh, perhaps of
the uh the bourbon kind or thewhiskey kind.
(01:13:44):
How about getting them a leatherbourbon journal?
And what that is, and uh Etsy'suh Speakeasy of 1930 is the
company, Speakeasy of 1930s, hasa leather-bound journal.
It's$50.
This thing looks cool.
Um, it's like leather bound andit's got like the linen sheets
(01:14:05):
in it that are like kind of likeuh the edges are kind of you
know a little rough.
Uh it really looks likesomething like you know, the the
holy grail book off of uhIndiana Jones or something.
Um really cool looking.
So it's something you could seton the bar and it would look
neat.
Um the pages are formatted sothat um they got different
(01:14:28):
things.
It's like, you know, you toreflect, you know, what's the
color, and they've got differentthings there.
They've got the flo the profilewheels, if you're familiar with
those, which helps youunderstand what the flavor is.
Is it sweet?
Is it spicy?
Uh it tastes like caramel ortobacco-y or all that kind of
stuff.
(01:14:48):
Um and uh the type of whiskey itis, you can put general notes
and you can also put in therewhen and where purchased.
So if you have somebody who'sgetting into whiskeys and
bourbons or is into whiskeys andbourbons, um, this is a great
idea.
I've got one.
I've started doing it becausehonestly, when I'm drinking a
whiskey or bourbon, I, you know,it's like, oh, I had that.
(01:15:12):
I don't remember what it tastedlike.
I I'll remember if I liked it orI didn't like it, but I couldn't
tell you, oh yeah, that hadnotes of caramel or this or
that.
This is a way to be able to kindof keep track of the flavors,
and this helps you understandwhat flavors you like and kind
of develops your flavor paletteand that type of thing.
But this helps track it.
(01:15:33):
And this also helps you keep youif there's just something you
really didn't like uh from fiveyears ago, you can like look in
there and go, I really didn'tlike that.
I'm not gonna buy that bottleagain.
So I uh would definitely suggestthis.
It like I said, looks awesomeand cool, and uh it's a way to
to uh keep a journal of thebourbon that you drink and uh
(01:15:55):
that kind of thing.
Cool.
And then I'm gonna end, andthat's$50.
I'm gonna end uh uh I think I'llpick this one.
Now, this is anywhere between$73and$110, depending on where you
buy it.
And this is in fact a whiskey.
And this is the American HighwayReserve whiskey.
(01:16:17):
You can get it on various sitesonline.
Like I said, it's between or atyour local store, between$73 and
$110.
Uh, this whiskey was createdthrough a collaboration of
country music star Brad Paisley.
You know who that is?
I do, yeah.
Uh he got together withBardstown, which I know you know
who they are, the BardstownBourbon Company.
(01:16:40):
And what they did is on his 2019tour, they got this idea that
they were going to take aspecial trailer and they
nicknamed it the Rolling RickHouse.
Stay with me here.
I'm here.
Uh, what they did is they putbarrels of whiskey on this uh
(01:17:03):
and went across the countryduring their tour.
And what this did is it exposedthe barrels to various climates,
uh, the movement similar to likeuh Jefferson's ocean to age type
stuff, uh, which obviouslyinfluences that final play uh
final flavor profile.
Um 90 barrels were in therolling rick house.
(01:17:26):
Those 90 barrels went 70,000 or7,000 miles through 25 states as
part of Paisley's 2019 tour.
So then what they did is theytook this, they blended it with
four different Kentucky bourbonswith ages ranging from three
years to 15 years, and uh cameout with something really
(01:17:48):
special and really unique.
Uh, the tasting notes, uh sweetand spicy aromas, uh notes of
caramel, cinnamon, and oak, um,bright burst of apricot
alongside rich dark chocolateand leather.
So um I just think this would beneat for anybody who's into
(01:18:09):
whiskeys and bourbons, anybodywho wants to get into them, or
just somebody who has a bar thatoccasionally friends come over
and you want something a littlebit different, or maybe even for
you know, Christmas or NewYear's, you want something a
little bit different uh to kindof celebrate the season with.
This would be cool, and it's gota cool story.
I mean, you can tell yourfriends about the Rolling Rick
(01:18:30):
House and 7,000 Miles and 25states, and and uh with what I
gave you there, it will make yousound like a uh, you know,
whiskey aficionado telling allyour friends.
So that's pretty cool.
Check that out, and that iscalled the American Highway
Reserve Whiskey.
Online or your local stores, anywhere between 73 and 110
(01:18:52):
dollars.
SPEAKER_02 (01:18:53):
Cool.
In Michigan, that'd be 110, byyou would be 73.
SPEAKER_04 (01:18:57):
Well, what can I
say?
Oh I get a job, I'm gonnacelebrate by buying that bottle.
How about that?
That'll motivate me.
SPEAKER_02 (01:19:07):
All right, you get a
job, I'll buy one too.
Um, all right.
I'm gonna jump into a radar.
Okay.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:24):
Because I know where
you're going, you are 100%
correct.
I'll say that right now.
SPEAKER_02 (01:19:28):
I believe that
probably one of the best
innovations of an electronictechnology piece of equipment
for the cyclists in your lifehas to be the bike radar.
SPEAKER_04 (01:19:43):
Oh, yes.
So it has saved us on more thanone occasion.
SPEAKER_02 (01:19:48):
Yes, sir.
Quite sure.
And the ride we don't talkabout.
Um I have to tell you that ifyou enjoy either watching or
listening to us and you've neverexperienced a bike radar, this
might just be one of the bestgifts that you could buy your
(01:20:08):
cyclists.
I mean, I know it's expensive, Idon't want to lie.
I mean, um, this comes out onSunday, maybe Black Friday.
There might be somebody who hasone on sale.
Definitely keep your eyes peeledif you're you're interested.
Um, here's how it works:
different brands. (01:20:21):
undefined
I mean, the one I have is theone that you mentioned before,
which is the Vereri or whatever, however you pronounce that.
Um the Garmin.
SPEAKER_04 (01:20:31):
Garmin, yep.
SPEAKER_02 (01:20:32):
And the one that's
what you have as well.
Um, and a lot of our friendshave that one.
Our friend Joe has the one withthe camera.
I always tease him because I'mlike, what is that just footage
so your family can see the lastcar that hit you?
Just kidding, of course.
SPEAKER_04 (01:20:46):
Um that's the Garmin
Vieira RTL 515, is what we're
speaking of.
SPEAKER_02 (01:20:53):
And here's how it
works.
So I imagine the cyclist in yourlife has a head unit or a
computer.
Um, and it doesn't have to, itcould work with a smartphone as
well, just to be clear.
But most likely they have acomputer, and on the computer,
what happens is once theyconnect this sensor, the radar,
(01:21:14):
it attaches on the rear of thebicycle.
Most of them are rear of thebicycle.
I know they have some for thefront as well, but 99% of them
are for the rear of the bicycle.
And if a car is approaching thecyclist from the rear on the
head unit, if you will, ifyou're watching on YouTube,
it'll have the car on the bottomof the screen, and then the car
(01:21:34):
goes through the screen up tothe top, and and this is
essentially the back of thebicycle, the top of the piece of
paper.
And I know if you're listening,I apologize, but picture the
bottom left-hand corner orright-hand corner of the head
unit.
There's a little um carinsignia, and it slowly crawls
up the screen until it gets tothe top of the screen.
(01:21:56):
Essentially, top of the screenwould be you, and then different
if you have a color computer, uma green is clear, uh, orange is
there's a car, but it's okay.
Red, red is there, red is there.
Um, but many of these radars canalso show multiple cars,
(01:22:19):
multiple things behind you.
And so, um, anyways, I I justwant you to know that I think
this is a phenomenal gift ifyou're really looking for that
that special gift for somebody.
I know it's expensive, I justwant to be honest.
So um, usually around 150 bucksor somewhere, sometimes 200,
depending.
But usually on Black Friday,it's usually 150.
SPEAKER_04 (01:22:39):
So um well, is your
life worth 150?
Or is your cyclist friend, family member's life worth$150?
SPEAKER_02 (01:22:46):
Please say yes to
Lauren.
Please say yes, Lauren.
Please say yes, Lauren.
SPEAKER_04 (01:22:49):
Um she's right now
looking at her life insurance
policies going.
Well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02 (01:22:56):
Yeah, they're uh$149
at REI.
I'm looking right now.
SPEAKER_04 (01:23:00):
So you know, it is
it's an investment, but it is an
investment on safety.
Um again, we hear all the timefriends, friends of friends, uh,
teammates, all that kind ofstuff.
Somebody's getting hit or stuff.
This isn't gonna guarantee thatyou don't get hit.
But what this is gonna do isit's gonna give you information
um to prepare you as you'reriding to know if there's a car
(01:23:22):
behind you.
Because right now, without that, you always kind of like trying
to look over your shoulder, yougot a mirror or something,
you're trying to like, you know, figure out, you know, looking at
the mirror, it's backwards, allthat kind of thing.
Um this will tell you car iscoming, multiple cars are
coming, and the color willdesignate, you know, is it fast
(01:23:43):
or slow or that type of thing?
Um, yep.
I 100% I bought two of them, anduh definitely a good investment.
SPEAKER_02 (01:23:54):
So Cyplus, who makes
your pump there, makes one.
I I guess I would stick with theGarmin myself, but they have one
without a light on sale rightnow for$99.
Uh, so even if even if youalready purchased the light kit,
it says 153 yards away.
Uh they're they're I mean itthey're slick.
(01:24:15):
So uh one of the best things, inmy opinion, that that's ever
came out for cycling was theradar.
SPEAKER_04 (01:24:20):
So that's just my
good the good thing about having
a light on there is then youdon't need the light.
Yeah, uh they actually have alight on there that you can
change like the flashing on it.
Um so you got the radar and thelight all together, which is
kind of nice.
So one less thing you have toworry about charging at night
because you can just charge thelight and the radar all at the
(01:24:41):
same time.
SPEAKER_02 (01:24:42):
According to Amazon,
I purchased it uh June of 2020.
Sometimes that's kind of weirdwhen you go search a part and
they're like, hey, you alreadybought this.
I'm like, well, thanks a lot.
SPEAKER_04 (01:24:52):
And you know what?
I then purchased that one fromyou um probably 2020, early
2024.
That's correct.
That's correct, and it's becausethen you moved around to a
different brand.
And yours was color, minewasn't.
So yeah, I upgraded on yours.
Well, cool.
SPEAKER_02 (01:25:11):
Uh all right, the
official cycling men of leisure
jersey.
Oh, wait, sorry, I thought youalready you already mentioned
that.
I already mentioned that.
Yeah, I got one here.
Okay.
SPEAKER_04 (01:25:23):
Now this is cool,
and we have actually solved this
problem ourselves.
We don't need this, but someonemight.
The charge time charging stationby Trek.
You can get this at REI,$135.
You can charge up to six devicesat once uh without all the
tangled cords and all that kindof stuff.
(01:25:43):
It's got a visible LED chargingindicator on it.
Um it's got uh six ports um thatallow you to charge.
Oh, it's got external portswhich allow you to charge like
your phone, iPads, tablets, things like that, other
accessories.
So basically it's a box.
It's made by Trek.
It's got a lid on it.
(01:26:04):
It's like a metal box with, Iguess, a metal lid.
You open it up, and there's likesix individual areas in there uh
that you can modify.
Uh, you can, you know, pull upthe little pieces and change the
configuration based upon whatyou have.
They've got six power cords thatgo in there, and uh basically
you can charge your lights sets, your radar, your phone, all of
(01:26:28):
that you just put in there, plugthem all in because all the
cables are underneath.
You just pull them up, plugeverything in, shut the lid,
everything charges right there.
So I thought that was a greatway.
If you're going on a ride andyou want to charge all your
stuff at once, that's a reallygood.
Now, you and I actually solvedthis problem like three years
ago using a Milwaukee packout.
(01:26:50):
Uh I don't know what it wasoriginally.
It kind of looks like theirMilwaukee packout coolers, but
it's not similar to that.
You and I made what we call uhwhat are we calling that?
The charge box.
No, no, no.
We called it something else.
Uh juice box.
Juice box.
Yeah.
We called it a juice box whereit was a really tall Milwaukee,
(01:27:14):
real slim, uh, where we couldhave it set up so that we had a
cord wired so you could plug thewhole thing in.
And inside we just plug all ofour stuff in, could shut the box
up, put a lock on it, and chargeall of our stuff at the same
time.
Trek has taken that same ideaand made their own box.
So um if your cyclist is goingon a long rides or go on rides
(01:27:36):
or multi-day and need to charge, this would be a great way.
You can get it at RII for$135.
Um, and actually, if you're amember at REI, I am, used to be
an employee of REI, so I'll plugthem a little bit.
Um, if you use your membership, you can get an extra 10% back.
So you can cut that price downby about$13.
(01:27:57):
So I'm a member.
Well, you should be.
SPEAKER_02 (01:28:01):
Sorry, yeah.
The question is is I'm alifetime member of Top Golf, but
they just sold out.
So my question, Callaway sold.
Your membership's not goodanymore.
SPEAKER_04 (01:28:11):
I was they really
sell out that's not owned by
Callaway.
SPEAKER_02 (01:28:14):
No, they sold well,
they they they sold a vested
interest to another company.
SPEAKER_04 (01:28:19):
So well, they were
uh Callaway's been sinking the
last few years, so yeah.
Which you and I both knowbecause uh that maybe in the
next uh we don't have time now,but maybe the next uh episode
we'll talk about how a bike rideuh caused us to invest in
Callaway Golf.
(01:28:40):
Let's put that on the list fornext time.
SPEAKER_02 (01:28:42):
That sounds good.
I love it.
SPEAKER_04 (01:28:43):
So what else you got
on your list?
Anything else?
SPEAKER_02 (01:28:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A bike computer, uh the headunit bike computer.
Um, I'm not even gonna fill inthe the blank with the brand.
Um, there are so many out therenow.
Um, you know, different ones,Wahoo, uh, you know, Garmin, uh
Hammerhead.
I mean, there's so many, but uh,yeah, I just wanted to say that
(01:29:06):
if if the cyclist in your lifedoes not have a bike computer,
it um it really I just had anexperience where uh someone I
work with, I don't I mean, notevery day, they're in IT, and
they called me and said, Hey,the I heard you're into cycling,
and I said yes.
Long story short, she wanted toknow a basic entry bike
(01:29:28):
computer.
She didn't have you know a bankto print money with, but and and
I said, you know, have youconsidered going like a
remanufactured one or orsomething like that, you know?
Um, and she did uh for$55, shefound your the original Wahoo
that you had and sold her mine.
I know, and and uh and so shedid she purchased that and she
(01:29:52):
every now and then when she's inmy building, she's like, you
know, I never get a chance tothank you.
I'm like, you thank me everytime.
SPEAKER_04 (01:29:58):
So see, I would have
been a jack wagon and said, Oh,
you need to get yourself areally nice cat eye.
Remember those back in the day, yeah, you know the wire that
goes wire that goes down, toldyou your speed and the distance,
and that was it.
SPEAKER_02 (01:30:13):
And the only thing
that I thought was sort of
somewhat interesting.
Uh, this is one of those giftsthat I mean you you you need to
like have a printing machine inyour basement of money, but I'm
gonna start doing that actually.
So go ahead.
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:29):
Whoa, whoa, whoa,
whoa.
I mean, not money.
I got a printer in my basement.
That's all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02 (01:30:35):
Oh, okay.
I was gonna like, I am out.
I I am, you know, but oh nowyou're an accessory.
Yeah, okay.
The premium riding glasses thathave like the heads up display
with all like the the ridedistance and all that.
SPEAKER_04 (01:30:48):
I saw that what do
those cost?
SPEAKER_02 (01:30:50):
You know, uh it says
$500 or more or more.
Yeah.
You gotta ask, you can't affordit.
Right.
Uh writing heads up display.
I'm gonna just uh sunglasses.
See if you'd done your research, you'd already have this
(01:31:11):
together.
Oakley has a brand that has AIfor$4.99.
Uh, and then there's$599, andit's that it does show it shows
your speed, your cadence,everything.
SPEAKER_04 (01:31:24):
Right in your
glasses, right in your glasses,
yeah.
Yeah.
I think I'm okay looking down.
I mean, I don't have to have itright here.
I can just basically tilt myhead a little bit and look right
there, and oh, there you go.
What do I need to spend$500 for?
SPEAKER_02 (01:31:39):
Uh besides that, uh
I'll let you know my list.
I'll email it over to you.
SPEAKER_04 (01:31:46):
And I'll work on on
trying to get some of these
ideas onto our site.
Um I forgot what we even calledthe latest and greatest thing.
Well, we have a blog.
We have happening now.
I think we called it behind thebehind the pedal or something.
SPEAKER_02 (01:32:06):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04 (01:32:07):
It's our latest and
greatest thing.
Yeah.
The latest and greatest that Iforgot what we called it.
But I have two more thingsreally quick.
Okay.
The V Seat complete bike seat, and this is from the V Seat.com.
It's$120.
Now, this one's a little bitweird, but I am almost, of
course, when I get a job, willing to try this one out.
(01:32:29):
It's a noseless designed bikeseat that targets the pressure
distribution.
So instead of it being like thenose, like you know, long.
Slender.
They basically hacked off thenose and spread this the seat
part out a little bit.
Okay.
It looks weird, but if it willease some of the pressure, it
(01:32:51):
might be worth it.
Ergonomically designed formaximum relief.
Uh repositions your weight uh bycentering it on the set bones
and not your crotch, which isalways a good thing.
Um reduces pressure uh on thesoft tissue area there,
eliminating numbness and chatand uh chafing.
(01:33:11):
Uh, you can also get an optionalpadded cover.
Like I said, it looks weirdbecause it doesn't have the nose
on it and it's a little wider.
But in my mind, when I waslooking at this, it's like it
totally makes sense.
So might have to get one ofthose one of these days and try
it.
The final thing is, for thosepeople, you've heard us talk
(01:33:31):
about it a million times.
We have blown.
SPEAKER_02 (01:33:34):
The brim.
SPEAKER_04 (01:33:36):
No, no, do not get a
de Brem.
Do not get your loved ones a deBrim.
Forget it.
I mean, maybe you got an ex-wifeor an ex-husband and they cycle,
buy them a de Brem.
That'll send the message.
What I'm talking about is wetalk a lot, everybody knows we
do a lot of flying with ourbicycles.
Um, if you need something, orthe cyclist in your life needs
(01:34:01):
something to fly with, uh, Iwould suggest trying the Try All
Three Velo uh Safe Pro Seriesoriginal bike case.
Um, now these are a little bitmore expensive.
Uh, you're looking at uh 625 to775 online, depending on what
site you you hit them up on.
But when you think about, ohgee, I'm gonna put a carbon bike
(01:34:23):
or a really nice aluminum bikethere and have the employees at
the uh airport throw it around.
Um, this would be a greatsolution.
The reason why I like this oneis this is a company that's been
around for 39 years.
They supply actually uh thesecases to the U.S.
Navy's Wounded Warrior Program.
Um they're also used by theDepartment of Defense and
(01:34:43):
Homeland Security.
Uh, it's made by high uhmolecular-weighted uh plastics.
And uh the interior measures 47inches long by 15 inches wide by
26 inches high.
It only weighs 35 pounds.
That includes the casters, andbasically, it's not like ours.
(01:35:05):
Ours are long and wide and havewheels on just one side, and you
have to hold them at a certainangle to pull them.
This is like um kind of a narrowtrunk that has wheels on all
four.
And so it's gonna be much easierif you're you know lugging
around a bag and this.
In fact, you can just put thebag on top and push the whole
(01:35:27):
thing.
Um the next one I get willprobably be this.
You just have to simply removeboth wheels, turn the uh the
handlebars, and attach it to thefork mount inside of it, uh, and
then secure the chain and and uhput the top on and you're ready
to go.
So um, this would be a reallygood option.
You know, ours works.
(01:35:48):
The problem with it is it'ssuper wide, it's really narrow,
and you have to hold it at acertain angle because there's
only wheels on one side for itto go.
And because it's so wide, if youhave another bag that you're
pulling, you don't have any roomto pull it because, you know,
for three feet behind you isthis wide thing that you really
can't.
I think this would reduce a lotof a lot of the uh the issues
(01:36:11):
that we've ran into.
I mean, I overcame them lastyear when I figured out that I
just strapped my other bag ontop of that, but I think this
would be a good option um ifsomebody knows they're going to
start flying with their withtheir bike.
Well, I know ours is not thegreatest.
It works, it's not the greatest.
(01:36:31):
It works, and honestly, no onetold us we shouldn't get that
one.
It's gotten our bikes throughMidian Airport, um, but it is
not the easiest one, and I justthink there's some better
options out there.
So that's all I'm saying.
Well, when you get the lottery.
Can I get a job first?
SPEAKER_02 (01:36:53):
Ladies and
gentlemen.
SPEAKER_04 (01:36:57):
Well, all right.
I this has been a longerepisode, but I think it's been
worth it because we went througha lot of really interesting
things.
Some cycling, some not, somejust you know, generally fun
things.
Um, so I say we we wrap it upwith the cycling men of leisure
um listener spotlight, and we uhcall it good.
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:18):
I was trying to find
the features of the DeBrim.
I'm just kidding.
All right, ladies and gentlemen,it is now time for Listener
Spotlight.
SPEAKER_04 (01:37:32):
All right, the clues
for Listener Spotlight are as
follows.
Although founded in the late1800s, this town is one of the
state's newest cities.
Uh, its high school stadium incampus uh is one of the stars of
the community.
Umriginally, the area of townwas part of a military district.
(01:38:00):
Uh, this community has anunlikely number of cemeteries,
or excuse me, an unlucky numberof cemeteries within a few miles
of its uh town, of its citylimits.
After World War II, uh the towntransitioned from agriculture to
industry and uh industry in aretail-driven economy.
(01:38:24):
And finally, my state, the statethat I live in, we're not gonna
tell you.
Uh I've mentioned it many times.
My state, the state that I livein, namesake is represented
somehow by this town.
Did you get that?
So the state that I live in'snamesake is represented somehow
(01:38:46):
by this town.
SPEAKER_02 (01:38:49):
Man, this time I
think I know it, but I am going
to send you a text.
It is not St.
Louis.
No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_04 (01:38:59):
Don't even really
you think you know this?
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:01):
I do.
I'm gonna send you a text.
It's not send me a text.
SPEAKER_04 (01:39:08):
Um I tell you what,
send me a text, and we will use
that as one of the guesses uhnext uh next episode to see how
close you are.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:17):
All right.
I'm doing it right now.
SPEAKER_04 (01:39:19):
So, oh, see, he
sounds very confident about
this.
Sounds very confident.
He's never this confident onthese things.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:28):
I mean, this might
be fun.
I mean, if you if the people arelook at your text.
I just sent it to you.
SPEAKER_04 (01:39:41):
Where'd you get that
at?
Is it right?
I I'm not gonna say it's rightor wrong.
I'm just saying, where'd you getthat guess at?
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:50):
It's not St.
Louis.
It's not St.
SPEAKER_04 (01:39:53):
Louis, but that's
actually somewhat of an
intelligent guess.
Not that you don't haveintelligent guesses, but for
just coming off the chute justlike that, that is good.
But I'm not gonna tell you ifyou're right or wrong.
You'll have to listen to ournext episode to find out.
SPEAKER_02 (01:40:10):
All right.
Well, that sounds good.
Hey, uh, a couple things.
We are gonna try.
Um, we've been working with thenew domestic director of Bragg,
Bike Rider Across Georgia.
Uh, we're working with uh RonWard.
We're gonna have him on.
Um, and I've got it on goodauthority that we are gonna be
(01:40:33):
able to do the route release forBragg again.
So we're gonna have to make thisall work out, but a couple good
things I just wanted to put thatout there.
Everybody loves the routerelease that we do on New Year's
Day.
So that'll be cool.
Uh besides that, uh, good luckto you, my friend.
Um, if you need a reference, uhhave him call me.
I I uh I will put on my hey, thank you for calling.
(01:40:58):
I wouldn't hire him to drive mybus, but I bet he would be great
driving yours.
I was just gonna say to you, youknow, moving to Michigan is
probably not ideal.
I bet you, in the state that youlive in, and since you just
mentioned it in the in thelistener spotlight, I bet you
that they would take you.
(01:41:19):
There happens to be a publictransportation.
Uh I happen to know there's apublic transportation near you
that is dying for drivers.
SPEAKER_04 (01:41:28):
So yeah, but and and
I bet they would really do it
now because uh in the next uhcouple months we're having the
uh the big soccer tournamentgoing on here.
You may have heard of it.
Uh it's called the World Cup.
And uh yeah, they probably wouldgrab me just like that.
But the only problem is I don'treally want to drive a bus.
(01:41:54):
But that's another we'll we'llsee in three weeks, you know,
when uh you know, I'm living onspam, and I might want to drive
a bus.
I'm not really gonna be livingon spam, but it sounds good.
It'll be great value from but itwon't be and be spam, it'll be
an off-brand spam, but listen, all right.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:15):
Happy Thanksgiving
to you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of ourleisure community and your
family, safe travels.
You know, I know this episode'slong, but it's full it's full of
good stuff because if somebodyis traveling down the road,
they've been able to enjoy uswhile uh traveling back and
forth from their family.
I got school tomorrow, and sothanks a lot, Adam.
SPEAKER_04 (01:42:40):
We'll find out how
many people think their bikes
got stolen out of their garage.
SPEAKER_02 (01:42:44):
Where's my bicycle?
SPEAKER_04 (01:42:46):
And then they're
gonna run out and say, Do I have
new handlebar tape?
Uh no, your bike's been stolen, sir.
Yeah.
So uh hopefully it's great.
Um, again, send us uh input.
If you guys have used any ofthese products, certainly let us
know.
I will work on trying to getthese products onto our website.
Um, so that if you like weredriving and you didn't get them
(01:43:08):
written down and you don't wantto listen to us again, which I
completely understand, um, youcan look at it there.
So they love us.
So well, there's love us andthen there's like listen to you
again is totally different.
SPEAKER_02 (01:43:23):
So thank you, Ryan,
again for joining the ranks of
monthly subscribers.
Greatly appreciate it.
And everybody have a great day.
And somewhere, somehow, someway, I know for Jim has been
recently.
I've seen every picture.
It's been a great day for a bikeride.
