Speaker 1 (00:19):
Well, it's time for Road Adventures with Cycling Men
of Leisure, the podcast forcyclists who understand that
riding is not just about gettingto the destination, but the
experience along the way.
Now here are the originalCycling Men of Leisure Adam and
Michael.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Welcome to Road Adventures of Cycling Men of
Leisure.
As usual, I am Adam, but thistime, ladies and gentlemen, in
person.
Right next to me is is my goodfriend, mr Michael Scharr.
Hello, greetings, adam.
How are you?
Oh, man, man, I am good.
We're here in sunny Florida.

(00:56):
If the wives are listening,it's 40 and raining.
Actually, it was raining thismorning.
It really was raining thismorning.
Miserable, I had a golf club inmy hand yesterday.
You did something really weirdwith the hot dog, and we'll get
to that later.
Whoa, I mean, ladies andgentlemen, hold on for that

(01:17):
story.
So we went to Podfest man, podfest 2025.
We were there and they offeredto sell you tickets for PodFest
2026.
Did you sign up?
No, not yet.
What'd you think?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
of PodFest, you know.
First off, I would like tothank Buzzsprout for hooking us
up with creator tickets.
It was very nice of them.
It was a great and interestingexperience.
Uh, it's interesting becauseyou get all types in this type
of thing.
It's like you've got the peoplewho are just doing it for a

(01:54):
hobby.
You got the people who arewanting to make a million
dollars off of it.
You got the people who aremaking a million dollars off of
it.
Uh, you've got the people thatare doing things on really
obscure topics, like you know.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Uh, I don't know, making courses, making, uh, I
mean, oh yeah, how to do?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
mini courses and and then you got people who are
doing courses for their job, forlike the work their work has
hired them to do it.
So you just got this vast arrayand a lot of the breakout
courses.
Um, you know, you have yourbasic ones, you know how you
start and all this kind of thing, but you know, a lot of it is
around monetization.
A lot of it is around writingbooks, which seemed a little I

(02:38):
don't know little, not realpodcasty, but it was interesting
.
There was a wide array ofpeople there.
It was fun.
We took in a couple of sessions.
We did learn a couple of things, which is kind of nice.
I don't know if I could go andspend the whole weekend there.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yes, you know it had early stuff happening on the
15th and then the official expokicked off on the 16th.
You had some travel issuesWe'll get to that in a little
bit but I went for the officialkickoff of the expo and then it
had breakout sessions and lunchsessions and evening sessions

(03:18):
and you were invited to abourbon thing, but our dinner
ran over.
Last night there was comedyshows.
So I mean, if you had traveledthere and you wanted to eat,
breathe, learn, all things, podcasting there was something
for everybody, um, you and I.
Um, the platform we use iscalled buzzsprout.
Yep, they gave us free creatortickets.

(03:39):
Um, paid, paid for, or I don'tknow if they paid for it so we'd
come, or I don't know.
I'm sure there's a back-enddeal from the hotel Like, hey,
get people here, we'll help youout.
That's how that game workssometimes.
But nevertheless, they gave ustickets, they gave us all kinds
of swag.
They made fancy, they had alaser printer and made fancy key

(03:59):
chains and with QR codes on theback, and even designed a logo
for our podcast, which wasn'twhat they were doing for
everybody.
They just happened to I hadwrote it into the show.
Looks really cool.
It does look really cool.
So they gave it to us an SVGfile so we could do whatever we
want.
We could make a hot air balloonout of it if we were into hot

(04:21):
air ballooning.
Maybe, maybe, but that would becool, that's a new, that's
leisuring, that is definitelyleisuring.
So, but no, I, I, you know, itwas um in renaissance, uh, hotel
by sea, world, um, andbeautiful place.
Oh, it's fantastic.
Huge, huge hotel, lots ofbreakout sessions.

(04:43):
I did go um, you and I, dividedand conquered.
I went to the monetization, because have you know our
monthly subscribers, um, so Iwas curious about how to, how to

(05:07):
circumnavigate the additionalcore idea of the show, which is
to reach our audience and andand tell, tell our stories, um,
without you know sounding andbegging for money or how to do
it.
And so there was some somereally cool ways to do that,
like sponsorship levels, andwe're going to look into doing
maybe a little bit of a mediakit, but not just for

(05:27):
monetization, a media kit justso we can have a guest on.
That's right.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
So we can introduce ourselves to people who might
not know us, but we'd like tohave them on the show as a guest
.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
So interesting, interesting stuff.
Ironically, we didn't plan thetrip to come to pod fest.
We decided that, hey, you getmonday off because you work for
the federal government.
And you got monday off and then, um, I I had a bunch of bank
time and I said let's go and wewere gonna come down here and
just pod fest and golf.

(05:58):
And now we're gonna get betterpodcast, but yeah, sorry,
podcast, you're right, um,podcast and and then play golf,
which we did play golf yesterday.
And uh, uh, you know, yes, that's what you call it we were,
we were, we hit it, we hit aball.
Yeah, I mean, we hit it a lotmany times.
So, um, we had some good shots.

(06:22):
Yeah, you know, first drive, Ihiked it right down the middle.
I was just I'm like that's agood start, I like that, you
know thing.
You have to worry about out.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Here is the wildlife started out and there's like
turkeys all over the place, likewild turkeys.
Hey, that's a little weird, uh.
And then we went.
We ran into an armadillo.
I mean, we didn't physicallyrun into the armadillo, but it
was there.
Um.
And then we got to one area andthere was a couple of
alligators just hanging out.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, yeah, so definitely a first lady.
We met a wonderful couple hereand and Florida there, uh, from
Ohio and and Ted and Tina andyou know, um, they were
wonderful.
And when they first started shehad an Ohio State Buckeyes and
I was like oh no.
And then he had a Buckeyes bagand I was like oh no, but we had

(07:13):
a good time with the rivalryand joking around and so it was
a lot of fun.
It was an awkward thing whenTed said, hey, I want to thank
you for waking us up afterMichigan beat us, and I was like
I don't know how to.
Yeah, I didn't practice, youdidn't play.
I mean, I made some bets, ifthat helps.
But speaking of betting, didyou make any bets before you

(07:36):
left?
I did not.
Oh, okay, well, we'll get intowhat I did.
We'll see how well I did.
But in getting back to the, should we talk?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
about golf.
Yeah, sure, um, it'd been likea year and a half since I picked
up a club.
Yeah, felt good.
I got some really good solidhits, uh, at the beginning and
at the end, kind of in themiddle there, I really like the
right side of the course, out inthe woods, in the swamps, um,
which I didn't go look for thoseballs because clearly there's

(08:04):
alligators in those swamps.
But what was really cool is itwas getting.
We had a tee time at like twoor something.
Yeah, uh, what was really coolis it was getting.
We had the 18th hole and it wasstarting to get dark and we were
just like, oh, let's just hurry.
And uh, ted and Tina were like,oh, you guys can play the last
hole.
It's like, oh, you know, it'skind of getting dark and he's
like we have glow in the in thedark balls and it was like you

(08:28):
guys can try a couple.
So they went in the bag andpulled out a couple of these
balls.
I'd never seen them.
They look like kind of like aregular golf ball.
The dimples aren't as big, I'dnever seen and so you put them
down, sail out, and then theylight up.
There must be the impactactivation.

(08:48):
Um, so that was something Inever tried, which is really
cool.
You hit them and they're justlike jet out there and then like
they stay lit up for like eightminutes so you can find them so
that was kind of that was neat.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I mean, I was a little bit concerned because
there was like a like a creek, like like a little waterway that
boats probably go, you know, through through for Disney
moving around and stuff.
I was like man, I was afraidbecause when I drove it I didn't
know how far.
He said they don't go as far, yeah, and you know, I hit it and
my second shot was going to bevery, very problematic that it

(09:18):
didn't, but I thought it wasgoing to just when you think
it's going to go in the water.
It cleared it, but I put a junkball down and then I handed it
back and they were really niceto loan it to us.
So, no, wonderful meeting thoseguys.
We went to the Palm at whereShades of Green Beautiful course
, had a great time, and todaywe're actually heading back out.

(09:41):
We're going to play Lake BuenaVista golf.
We've played that one, yeah, wehave.
And so nice forgiving course, thankfully, because I need a
little bit of forgiveness, butno, it was a good time.
So, but before I go on, shouldwe?
We left the listeners hangingon our last show, did we?

(10:03):
Yeah, our leisure community, wedid not do the listener
spotlight.
So do you want to give us theclues from last time?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, I can give you the clues.
I've got them right here and, forgive me, I am fighting a cold
so I've got all sorts of issuesgoing on, so but it's not going
to stop us, that's okay, we'rerolling, all right.
Here are the.
Here are the clues that I gaveyou two episodes ago.

(10:35):
Two episodes, benji, wouldn'tlet me do one last episode.
But um, this town wasincorporated in the 1880s.
The early economy depended onmining agriculture and timber
Fathers should really thank thiscity.

(10:55):
It started as a trading post.
The city's name comes from anative language.
This city was in the worldspotlight in 1974, and a former

(11:17):
resident of this city helpedinfluence our version of a
perfect Christmas.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
What do you thinking?
Well, that last clue with ourversion of a perfect Christmas?
I'm thinking something north.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
That might be a good guess.
That's the best I got.
Wow, so basically he a guestNorth.
I mean that rules out what halfof the half of the cities, Just
saying so he's in the upper 50%, literally the upper 50%.
Okay, you want to know what itis.
I do the city for this episodes, or last episodes's listener

(12:07):
spotlight was Spokane Washington.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Hey, didn't we have somebody guess Spokane
Washington?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Thank you, franklin, because after you guessed
Spokane Washington, I looked upand we do have some listeners
from Spokane Washington.
Ok, so I said, well, let's justdo.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Spokane, washington.
Okay, I thought maybe I was anepisode behind.
So you know, normally when I'm,you know, I'm kind of a little
bit out of my element here.
We've, we've packed up all thegear and brought up everything,
all this element.
For sure, I normally have allmy, you know, leisure community
notes and I, you know, as soonas someone writes me, um, like
oh, I need to get my phonebecause Paul Wade wrote us and

(12:47):
um and so, um, I usually haveall that stuff laid out like on
boards and and and now I'm hereand, yeah, a little bit
different, but I'm, I'm rollingwith it here.
So, yes, frank, well, I don'thave headphones either.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
So yeah, that's okay, I brought them.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
You just I didn't have the right hookup and then
that's because you can't hear medo this.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
You're so funny.
Well, you know what?
Now two can play that game,Pushing buttons.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Stop pushing buttons.
You're pushing the wrongbuttons.
You don't know what you'redoing.
I couldn't hear any of iteither.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
That's right.
Okay, so you want to know how Igot to Spokane Washington?
I do.
It was incorporated in 1881.
Obviously, the early economydepended on mining, agriculture
and timber.
Fathers should thank this city.
You know why?
Because this city is thebirthplace of father's day,

(13:52):
first proposed by sonora smartdob, a uh spokane native, in
1909.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah, it started as a tradingpost, which was the spokane
house, uh, which started in,which ran from 1810 to 1826.
The city's name, spokane, comesfrom a native language and it

(14:14):
means children of the sun, uh in1974, I thought this one would
give it away.
It was.
The city was in the worldspotlight.
I would have gotten this onebased upon World spotlight yeah.
Not an Olympics, no, but you'revery close.
1974, spokane, washington,hosted the World's Fair Expo 74.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
I have a crazy question.
Yeah, do we still do World's?

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Fairs.
Believe it or not, they stilldo them.
I don't think we do them herein America, but they do have
them overseas, okay.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
I mean, because you know I'm, it used to be a huge
deal, now they're not quite asbig.
Okay, because you know.
I mean here we sit on theDisney property and then of
course, walt Disney builtCarousel of Progress for the
World's Fair, and then you knowdifferent items that were at the
World's Fair, world's Fair, andso I didn't know.
But they do do World's Fairstill.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
Yeah, a former resident of this city hoped to
influence the vision of aperfect Christmas.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Santa Claus and Coca-Cola?
Yeah, no, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Wow, bing crosby, I'm dreaming of a white christmas.
Yes, uh, attended college inspokane at gonzaga university,
released the hit song whitechristmas in 1941 and then later
it became a movie, a featurefilm, in 1954 him and danny k

(15:47):
one of my favorite christmasmovies I'm dreaming of a white
christmas.
It's a great christmas movie.
It starts out in the war, there's some shelling and then
it goes, goes on to there, toreally good movie yeah, okay,

(16:07):
good, I'm glad that you've neverseen it.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
So, uh, I think there's been all kinds of movies
.
You know, christmas time and myhouse is different time we have
like traditional movies that wesee, like alone and Chevy
Chase's Christmas vacation anddo not tell me you're watching
diehard.
Oh, we did this year, Lauren,Lauren not a Christmas movie.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Don't let me start rants, okay where's that mute
button?

Speaker 2 (16:33):
um, so lauren wanted to know what all the hubbub was
about, and so she said I'm goingto watch die hard.
And she said it's not achristmas movie.
It happens that he's going to achristmas party, but it's not
like a christmas movie.
So, and then somewhere someonetold me that uh, I I have no
proof of this.
I just heard this that brucebrings I mean bruce, bruce

(16:54):
willard is not a christmas.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Yeah he didn't.
But if you start that way, Imean, does that mean the
godfather is a christmas movie, because there's a segment of the
godfather that takes place atChristmas?
Does that mean that?
Oh, the original Ocean's Eleven.
What most people don't know isthat Ocean's Eleven, as we all
know George Clooney, brad PittRight, it's actually a remake

(17:18):
from the 50s.
The Rat Pack did an Ocean'sEleven, which was the original
one, right, which actuallystarted.
The beginning of that moviestarts off at Christmas time.
So is that a Christmas movie?
No, I don't know it's not.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
You're going to have to talk more into your
microphone.
It's not there you go.
Unfortunately, we're usingdifferent microphones than we
normally use, so they're verydirectional.
So when you turn towards me,the audience is going to be like
what is he doing?
They're not, they're perfect.
Towards me, the audience isgonna be like what is he doing?

(17:53):
They're not, they're perfect.
Um, well, I mean um, there'sall you know.
They we always.
The new one for us is the 8-bitchristmas the what?
8-bit christmas with neilpatrick harris and um.
It's about like how he won anintendo.
Is this?
Is this like a homework movie?
I don't know what's it's.
Is this like a homework movie?
I don't know, it's actually ahomework movie.
Have you seen it?

(18:13):
No, but it just sounds like ahomework movie.
I think it's a Netflix movie.
It's where, like when he wantedit's a pretty cool movie.
He wanted a Nintendo when hewas growing up.
Stop, stop what, go ahead.
I'm not.
This is why the show worksbetter.
When you're in central time, you're an hour behind.
You don't get the jokes.
It takes you an hour to pick upon them, but this Eastern time

(18:37):
zone is messing with your head.
But anyways, in the movie stillgoing back to that, okay, just
listen, okay, listen.
Okay, my gosh, he wants anintendo, but his parents won't
buy him a nintendo and so hefigures out ways and and it's
kind of interesting.
So, uh, I don't want to give itaway, but it's actually a
decent movie.
If you and maya are looking fora, a movie for the day, look at

(19:01):
8-bit.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Spoiler alert I've not seen the movie.
Guess what?
The end of end of the movie, hegets a Nintendo Done.
You're welcome, am I wrong?
I'm not wrong.
See it's, it's.
I just saved an hour and 35minutes of my life right there.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Oh my gosh, Okay Well that's all right.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Uh, don't you like it when I'm hopped up on cold
medicine and I'm in Eastern time?
This is fun.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Let's do this more.
Speaking of Eastern time, how'dyou get to Eastern time?

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Planes, trains and automobiles Okay.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Do you want me to spill the whole bean?
Oh man, please, please, becauseif not, here's the problem.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
This is the second time I've been to Orlando in
three weeks.
I'm coming back to Orlando intwo weeks.
When I looked at my littleDelta app to set my clock the
morning of my flight out here, Ipulled up my flight to Orlando.
Well, I was under a lot of coldmedication and I pulled up my

(20:09):
flight to Orlando, no problem.
Problem with it is is theflight that I pulled up to
Orlando was the flight that Ihave in two weeks which is an
hour off.
That one, this one left at 7.03.
That one left leaves at 8.05.
So I was going off the 8.05 one.
So show up at the airport.
Sorry, Mr Sharp, we can't letyou on your flight's already

(20:31):
boarding.
Okay, they could get me standbyto Atlanta in, like you know,
20 minutes after well, I guessit was two hours after my
regular flight.
Get to Atlanta.
If you've ever been on standbyin Atlanta, I never have.
Yeah, Just like you know, bringa tent camp out because it's

(20:52):
going to be a long time.
So I went in there, went to thelady at the counter yeah,
You're standby for this flight.
So I went to that gate, waitedan hour, didn't make it.
It was like 12 people.
I then that when I was told, well, my, it would roll over to
another gate, I went to thatgate.
Didn't make same Pete, same 12people Just like we were like

(21:17):
herd animals went from this gateto this gate.
So finally I was like, okay, the same 12 people are going to
be following me, or I'm going tobe following them to the next
gate.
So I went to the customerservice people and I said is
there any way I can get toOrlando?
In fact, I don't even care if Iget to Orlando, Can you get me
to Tampa, Cause then I couldjust rent a car drive over it's
like an hour and a half orsomething.

(21:39):
She's like Hmm, that wouldn'tdo you any good.
I was like, okay, no-transcriptT.

(22:10):
If you've ever seen like anapocalyptic movie or an Old West
movie, T is like the outpostthat's on the fringes.
No one goes there unless youhave to.
It's kind of like Mos Eisley onStar Wars.
You know, just a collection ofreally weird stuff all thrown
together.
You're kind of out there on thefringes of everything, Don't

(22:31):
know what's going to happen, andit's a.
It's the newer one, so it's notas developed.
There's a lot of spaces whereshops haven't went in and things
like that.
So, uh, trucked it all the waydown there, had a three hour
wait and of course it wasn'tlike you know, right at the
beginning.
I had to go all the way.
I was at the edge of the end ofthe outpost so I was like, I

(22:56):
mean I was out there barelysurviving.
I mean it would have made agood story, so I'm waiting you
three hours later you didn'tchoose to like maybe hang some
stucco or hang some wire.
Well, and that's a funny thing,I'm sitting there for three
hours pounding my head againstthe thing, saying God, I hope I
get on this.
And that first thing thatpopped in my mind what is that
movie?
It's got Tom Hanks in it.

(23:17):
Terminal Terminal.
I started thinking about that.
I was like, oh my God, I'm justgoing to be here all night.
And I was like I was actuallythinking because some of it's
still under construction.
It's like I wonder if there'slike any uh bricklaying they
need or something.
Now my skillset has a verylimited uh masonry job that I

(23:43):
thought you know what, I couldfind some and I don't know put
something together.
And two days later they find itand go, what the hell?
Who did this?
It wouldn't be that prettything that Tom came up with.
But three hours later, same 12people Plus we've added a couple
more to our little colony now, because everybody else
apparently thought the samething I did.
They start talking and they'relike hey, ladies and gentlemen,

(24:03):
we've overbooked this flight.
We need like five people tocome.
And I was like there's no wayI'm getting on this flight.
So then I, after the flightleaves cause I held out went to
customer service again and thisguy was like, oh well, you
should have been at a 17.
You could have got on thatflight.
I was like, wait a minute.
The lady over there three hoursago said I had no chance of
getting on that one, that I hada better chance.

(24:24):
She was like, well, she waswrong.
I was like, so he said there'sthis thing called I guess it's a
certified or somethingconfirmed, confirmed.
And the lady in Kansas citygave me a number to call to
confirm to see if I wanted toconfirm, and I was.
I called the number right infront of her and I was like,
yeah, what do you got?

(24:45):
And he's like, yeah, we canconfirm you, but it is going to
be like $1,180.
And I was like, what?
That's like way more than Ipaid.
I'm not going to confirm forthat much.
Well, talking with thisgentleman, uh, he basically said
, oh, yeah, it was.
It would have been $75 toconfirm your flight.
And I was like that's not whatI was told.
And he's like, okay, okay, hehad to apologize for everybody

(25:14):
who worked for Delta other thanhim pretty much that day.
And I was like, well, I wouldhave paid the 75 dollars.
So, needless to say, he did astandby and then I had to
confirm for the next day.
The next standby came, gotright down to the wire a family
of three, which I apologize toyou right now.
I'm sorry.
I'm sure it ruined your kidsevening or whatever.
You didn't make it to the gateon time, so me and my three
brethren uh, standby people gotto sit in your three seats so we

(25:36):
had a little section in theplane.
All three of us sat righttogether.
We were the standby guys.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
Well, um, I uh made it just fine.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yeah, okay, we don't need to hear what.
I was first class and I had anomelet and I had two wood ferns
and she gave me a moisttowelette with lemon scent in it
and it was just delightful andwonderful.
And, oh yeah, I was upgraded,of course, and yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, one of us knows how to read the schedule and
one of us unfortunately had him.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
it was a legitimate mistake and the problem with it
is is I was coming to the sameflight all three times, but
anyway I got here you're here,but I have a serious question.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
I've been thinking do you not check in?
24 hours before I did check inand then on that boarding pass
it clearly says boarding time, did you not see?

Speaker 3 (26:31):
it.
I just looked at my thing andit's.
You know, I mean, I didn't guysreally pull up the boarding
pass?

Speaker 2 (26:36):
all good, you're here , life is, life is gone.
But uh, yeah, I uh.
But you know, we, what's afunny story?
We, you, we were actually gonna.
We rented a car and we weregonna put the rental car in your
name.
And I'm glad you didn't,because I took the 725 out of

(26:57):
Detroit and got into Orlando at1010 and in the morning let's
hear it and wasn't sure I know.
I'm just saying it's a goodthing I rented the car, because
then I was able to what was?

Speaker 3 (27:08):
on your omelet.
Mm-hmm, that was deliciousactually.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Well, listen, I'm a big wheel.
I mean, Delta calls me andwishes me You're a big something
.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Anyway, we're all here.
We're in Florida, that's right.
I've got a little bit of a cold, but from the last time I was
in Florida, it's the Floridacrud it is.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I told my staff.
I'm like well, guys, this is mynormal voice because when I get
back I'm sure I'm going to havethe crud.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
So anyway, par for the course.
So we're here, we're golfing,we ate well.
Last night we did AttendedPodfest.
Life is good good.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
So, speaking of pod fest, um, you know we learned a
few items and I am going to putit out there.
We are in the hunt for sponsorsand so, um, let's, let's
discuss just a second what, whatthat means.
A sponsor, um could besomething as a small, a small
token, something, um that you'dlike your name mentioned on the
show a couple of times, or couldbe larger.
I mean, we are looking for, um,a few people who might want to,

(28:25):
you know, listen to us and andand like what we share and and
enjoy our humor and everythingelse, um, and get value add from
the show.
And if you think that you knowyour uh, business or idea or
something um is that interestyou, to spread that, reach out
to us.
Let us know that that'ssomething that you're interested

(28:46):
in doing, um, and so, uh, wecan definitely communicate.
You know off the off the showabout that.
So communicate, you know offthe show about that.
So you can go tocyclingmenofleisure at gmailcom
or anywhere you find the podcast.
You can probably find ourcommunications or Facebook, or
They'll finish what you'resaying, or any way.
I mean, there's many ways toreach us.

(29:07):
Are you dealing?
with that topic.
Well, it won't be TikTok.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Don't reach us on TikTok, because less things
changes.
As of tomorrow, Chinese willnot be getting our information.
So they say it's going to go toanother communist-driven site
and you know, Russia's going tobe getting our information.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
I know what about all those things that you can buy
on the TikTok shop.
Just kidding.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
I haven't bought anything there so far, so I
guess I'm okay.
Anyway, we're done with that.
Yes, we're going to be puttingtogether some sponsor levels and
different things.
We've got some ideas justflowing and when we're done with
this we're going to have ourown pod fest and do some
brainstorming and put some ideastogether here in beautiful
Orlando, florida, orlando.

(29:57):
Thank you.
What I wanted to say is you mademe think we are going to
Bourbon Country Burn.
We are, and we've already got acouple people signed up,
multiple For our team Multiple.
And when you go to sign up, youregister for Bourbon Country
Burn.
You can put in your team thereso you could put in Cycling Men
of Leisure.
So if you've not been, could bethe last year, no guarantees,

(30:20):
just kind of what they've hintedat.
Certainly, come, we'd like toinvite you, join our team.
We're going to have a good time, we're going to cycle, we're
going to see some horses, goingto see some horses and we're
going to drink some bourbon.
So come and join us.
And we also are going to BigBrag again, bike ride across

(30:41):
Georgia and we've already had abunch of people say they're
going to be joining us there.
So come and join us there andwe are still looking for another
ride.
We've got a couple of ideas.
Hopefully we'll be able toannounce that the next couple of
months.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, absolutely.
For the Bourbon Country Burn tobe on the team, you're going to
need a password, Just privatemessage me Anyone who's messaged
me.
I get back with theminstantaneous.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
It's the same password of his luggage combo,
if you know what that is.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Actually, no, my luggage combo is 0000.
I've never changed it, it'sfactory default.
No, okay, combo was zero, zero, zero, zero.
I've never changed this factorydefault.
No, okay, I mean tsa can get inthere anyway.
I mean, what's the point?

Speaker 3 (31:19):
I love the.
We were back in the day when wedid we locked everything.
Yeah, we didn't want anybody toget in there, and then yeah,
but you change.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Then remember when they came out with the tsa locks
, you could get a special designtsa.
They had keys like yeah, thatthey could just like yeah, oh,
that's it, lock four, you know,or whatever on the bottom.
And then sometimes I would goto the airport and I see like
people bring Pelican cases, bigplastic Pelican cases.
It has lots like all four sides, and I'm like there's no way
they're letting you get on.

(31:46):
No, no, oh, that reminds me ofwhat we did around the summer
when we get our bikes back andthey had those TSA notes.
That reminds me of what we didon the summer when we get our
bikes back and they had thoseTSA notes and then we dude, we
should be, we should, we haveinspected your luggage again.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
I still think what you said was funny is we should
get like a hundred of those andjust tape them on the inside
thing and say yeah, and put abig message in the middle yes,
Thank you again for inspectingmy bicycle.
I hope you've enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about is
when you like my golf clubs.
When I got here to Florida Iopened it up.
I had a big old TSA was in here, but a note, I guess as a
courtesy they let you know.
Hey, we were in here, but yeah,I mean there's nothing in there
.
Go ahead and look, look all youwant.
And I mean weird because youtake all the.
You know you're trying to benice and you're trying to take

(32:33):
all the effort of putting it inthere and protect everything.
And then the worst was when youand I were in georgia last year
and we saw those guys monkeyingwith our bikes.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
They're like taking the bikes.
You know everything.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
I was like no, we got everything in there just right,
can I tighten that before youput the case back on?
And so we were both.
We both made our flight, so wewere both very heated and so we
were watching.
And so, by the way, and normalairports and big airports, you
don't see that, but this waslike yeah, that's just like
right out in the open.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
And so it's like and that's not metal, it doesn't
bend, it just breaks, cause it's.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Excuse me, sir, do you actually know what?
You know what carbon fiber is?
Could carbon fiber is?
Could you please not do that?

Speaker 3 (33:11):
So uh, but so we're looking for people to join the
team.
Yeah, uh, we've already gotsome things and we've got a
couple of uh for, like big brag.
We've got a couple of ideas ofpotential other things we're
going to do there for the as ateam.
So that'll be fun.
So I just wanted to throw thatout there.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
And I saw On my way down to Florida that big brag
had shared our link again forthe show that we did with
Franklin.
So please check that out if youhaven't, just to give you an
idea.
Franklin was awesome.
Put together some really neatthings for each stopover town
and breweries, distilleries, alittle bit of humor, a little

(33:50):
bit of trivia format.
Yes, a little bit of a triviaformat.
Yes, a little bit of historyand and uh and one thing I I
re-listened to the show I washiking and I re-listened and he
said awesome, bill fromDawsonville.
And after he said that Iremember, I remember that from
the movie and stuff.
But you know, it took a littlebit to click in, but, um,

(34:22):
no-transcript.
Which is interesting, becauselast night two nights ago,
sitting out here on our balconyand, uh, we had a discussion
about the difference betweenmoonshine and whiskey.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
So it was cool.
I'm looking forward to it.
Moonshine you enjoy under themoon no, just kidding.
See, that's the problem.
I'm going to get into a ranthere.
I'm not going to do that, sowe'll save my liquor rants for
another episode.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Oh, when he's maybe not doped up on decongestants.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Decongestants night quill, day quill yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Half the face is like it's time for a nap.
The other face is like I'mready to go.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
Last night I crashed hard, you did.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
They were like you want to go out and have a drink
and I was like no, I just I knowit felt weird there I was on
the balcony having a little bitof a you know, and then a true
friend would have said no man,I'm hanging with you if you're
not having one.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
I'm not having, because that's what I would have
done and adam's like okay, fine, I'm gonna go have my, my cigar
and my bourbon, you're right.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
You're right, I'm not a true friend.
I decided that I was going tobe selfish.
Now, the reason I'm selfish isbecause in my little humble
abode Don't blame me, no, no, no, I'm not blaming you Go ahead.
In my humble abode, where Ichoose to live, it's six degrees
outside, so you know.

(35:56):
To have a, a cigar, I have toheat up the garage, and then I
gotta gotta wait until it allheats up, get it acclimated,
then crack the door because Idon't want it to smell.
And so I?
I sit right at the end wherethe, where the heat is going out
, which takes a cigar smoke withit.
I could not smoke at all.
This is why you don't live in.
But but I'm not living incentral time, that's true,
anyways.

(36:17):
So actually I would live incentral time.
I have many times we are goingto have another listener
spotlight.
I'm not going to leave youhanging on Michael's hot dog
experience.
Oh, we're getting back to that.

(36:37):
Well, we're gonna.
It's like I okay, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
You make it sound like I broke some law or
something.
Fbi is gonna pound down thedoor here at disney world and
arrest me or something.
It was a hot dog we.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
There's the FBI right now.
We're good.
You better go check.
I don't think so.
I mean it's the FBI.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Well, I'm coming.
Okay, now that he's been takenaway, we can have some real
frank discussions about Okay, they're taking a visual check
here, so, um, come on in, we'redoing a podcast, hey isn't that
okay, thank you have to do avisual.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Okay, all right, we're leaving that in.
We're totally leaving that in.
That's really interesting.
They have to do a visual check.
Okay, all right, we're leavingthat in.
We're totally leaving that in.
That's really interesting.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
They have to do a visual check to make sure that I
don't know, I'm dead on thefloor in here or something.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Now, hold on, I do have a little bit to add to that
.
So when my house was destroyedin 2013, I lived in a hotel.
I lived in a hotel for twomonths and at that time, they
told me that every 10 days, theyhad the right to come in and
inspect.
And we knew that and that makeslogical sense.
It's their property.

(38:02):
We had a pet.
We had a cat at the time.
I have two cats now, and sowhat we did is I said well, hold
on a second If you're going tocome in.
I've got a pet, that is, we'llwait for the door.
They would do a scheduled 10day visit.
Okay, we've only been here 48hours.
That's really weird.

(38:23):
What's?

Speaker 3 (38:24):
funny is both you and I have been here many times to
many of the resorts.
Right, I was just here twoweeks ago.
Right, we were there for sixdays, seven days, right, and
never once did they do a visualcheck, except if you went to the
parks.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
they come in and they empty your garbage, and maybe
that might have been the visualcheck.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
That's true.
Well, yeah, they did come inand check.
But yeah, maybe that's it Okay.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
I don't know.
So Michael and I I'll be frankon here we go again.
Buddy, I'm sorry, but Michaeland I both are members for their
vacation club here, timeshare, and so what they do is they call
mouse keeping.
So you don't get housekeepingevery day and I'm not here to

(39:08):
sell you DVC.
You can look it up.
But I just want to be clear.
When you're looking at it, youonly have new, fresh sheets if
you're staying here four nights.
Besides that, it's consideredwhat they call welcome home,
quote unquote.
So you have to use the sametowels.
You can't just like think, oh,I'm going to get new towels
because I'm staying at a hotel.
You can request them.
You can, but sometimes they canactually depending on where
you're staying and how long.
You can actually get fees forthat, because it's part of the

(39:30):
agreement.
So, but if anyone can go to thepool, let me use your brain.
Go to the pool and you can getyou know other things.
So, but, um, exactly like um,but this is really weird.
We're sitting here recording um, and the guy comes in and and
and says I need to do a visualcheck, which, by the way, he
didn't check the bathroom, hedidn't check the bedroom.

(39:51):
I assume you're doing a visualcheck to make sure that people
are alive.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
I don't know, there's several rooms here.
He didn't check Well, but um,he didn't even actually look
around the corner in the kitcheneither.
Probably felt uncomfortablewhen you walk in hey, we're
doing a podcast.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
He's like oh should we give him creator credit yeah?

Speaker 3 (40:20):
We need to get his, we need to figure out what his
name was.
That's right to get information, but, uh, but anyway, disney,
we appreciate you, uh, lookingout for our safety.
Um, I think he was a littleshocked when he walked in
because you can't see it, but wehave taken the, they've got a,
they came, they started out incampers, these, these tables
where you can pull the top upand it's higher yeah coffee.
My parents had one in theircamper like 20 years ago coffee
table, and we've got lightshooked to that, we've got
cameras hooked to that, we'vegot boom arms hooked to that, we

(40:43):
got electronics, we've got twomonitors going on.
We got a computer over there.
So he probably walked in andhe's like he's probably calling
the fbi right now, going there'ssomething going on in this room
.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
So I was just thinking maybe we should like,
uh, wrap it up, so I'm not justgetting time to move to another
place.
That's right.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Um, so what's funny that we're like, oh, the FBI
could be coming any minute, andthen it's like, oh, hello,
housekeeping, anyway, part ofour adventures Anyway part of
our adventures.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
So that's pretty cool .
That's funny.
So couldn't plan that better.
No, that was perfect.
Well, so on the agenda is we'regoing to meet a good friend of
ours tonight.
Friend of the show team member.
We are meeting our friendArmando Armando, which we've
hooked up with in Florida before.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
We've ridden with him in Georgia a couple times in
Kentucky, and so, yeah, thiswill be fun.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
We're having dinner with him and we look forward to,
uh to spreading the the joy of,of our friendship with him.
So, um, with that being said,uh, we talked about sponsorships
.
We're definitely in the searchfor one of those.
It could be something small.
Sponsorship does not mean like, okay, they want thousands of
dollars.
It could be, you know, a fewbucks, and we'll mention the

(41:59):
show, you know, in the beginningor end, this thing called
dynamic content, which is whereyou hear hey, michael, have you
heard that we're going to?
You know, have a Jersey store.
We can definitely put somethingin the front of there.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
So you heard on every show that's downloaded.
There's many ways that we canwork together.
So reach out to us and we canwork together.
Or just come out with somecrazy bicycle invention, give it
to Adam, sell him on it andhe'll talk about it every single
episode.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Speaking of that, did you bring your DeBrim?

Speaker 3 (42:29):
I don't own a DeBrim, but I am surprised.
Ironically, we're going to talkabout DeBrim again.
See what I'm saying you don'tgolf with a DeBrim which I find
it funny because you make fun ofme when I put sunscreen on,
because you say it's causingcancer, it's a carcinogen.
Fake news, fake news, fake news, total.
But yet when we come golfing insunny Florida, you don't wear

(42:55):
your Debrim.
What's the difference?

Speaker 2 (42:56):
I actually do have a um Titleist big brim hat for
really sunny days.
It wasn't really that sunnyyesterday Sunny.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
What do you mean?
You had a Titleist, so Titleistmakes Debrims for golfing.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
No, titleist makes the same like big, wide brim
around your head, so goofy hatis what they make.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Okay, sorry, titleist , he doesn't use your golf balls
either, or your clubs or yourtowels, or actually doesn't own
anything.
That's Titleist.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
The one Titleist I found yesterday.
I you donated back to the.
I gave it back to the.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
He did use your ball once yesterday.
He found it alongside thecourse and he donated it back to
them.
He did use your ball onceyesterday.
He found it alongside thecourse and he donated it to the
Alligator.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Show.
I am a TaylorMade man.
I don't sell TaylorMade Darn itI don't want.
No, I'm just kidding.
Great, great, great movie.
So, brother Wild, if youhaven't seen that, you
definitely need to see that.
So, um, all right, well, whydon't we uh wrap this up?

(44:01):
We've got a lot of good stuff.
Um, we're hoping to get somemore content for you.
Oh and, ladies and gentlemen, this could be fun.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
We haven't went through it yet.
It may be nothing.
We actually miked ourselvesyesterday on the course and we
had two gopro cameras, so whoknows what we got in there.
So hopefully we got a couplelittle interesting tidbits that
we can throw on to futureepisodes or stick on the website
or something yeah, we, we haveaudio and video.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
We're going to take it again today so we'll see how
it goes.
So, um, yeah, with that we gota lot of good stuff.
Good to be together.
Uh, um, still think you need tosee that 8-bit movie.
And before we finish here, before we go to our listener
spotlight, what did michael dowith that hot dog?
Oh, he decided that we went toportillo's.

(44:51):
Now, depending on what part ofthe country you're listening to,
this, portillo's, we learnedyesterday, started in Chicago in
1963 as a hot dog stand, and sofor anyone in Illinois area and
I know that Scott Garwick hasbeen to Portillo's I guarantee
it May not eat there.
Now, based upon his experienceand now writing and everything

(45:13):
but guarantee he's been there.
They are famous for theiritalian beefs and and, uh,
chocolate cakes and all kinds of, of course, chicago style hot
dogs and we do not have those inkansas.
I, I completely understand, andI realized that yesterday
because we you know, of coursethe whole world has gone to

(45:34):
order your own food on a LCDscreen.
I didn't even, I didn't eventhink you could order from a
human, could you?
No, ok, that was OK, I wasn'tsure.
And so 100 percent LCD, whichprobably cost people their jobs.
Which is great?
Just kidding, of course, it'snot great, but but so we order

(45:55):
and he goes through and, ladiesand gentlemen, the man decides
he's walking away.
He's walking away, what are you?
Oh, he decided to put ketchupon his hot dog, portillo's.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Oh my gosh, that is so loud Because I still have one
with ketchup Because everybodyin the Midwest knows outside of
maybe Chicago no offense, chicago, a good hot dog has
ketchup, it has mustard and ithas relish.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
I have to beep him.
Ladies and gentlemen, he hasgot ketchup mustard.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
Oh, there's ketchup.
Look at that Ketchup.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Oh my gosh, you don't put ketchup on a hot dog well
then it's going to be dry.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Nobody wants to eat a dry hot dog anyways.

Speaker 2 (47:05):
Uh, I'm curious, this kind of this kind of started a
little bit of a a debate.
I am curious, uh, just on arandom thing, go to our facebook
page, write ketchup or orabsolutely no ketchup.
Don't put anything else onthere.
Just, oh, I know, hashtagketchup or hashtag no ketchup.
Uh, go to cycling man ofleisure and we'll see how many

(47:26):
people are replying.
I'm curious to see whatresponses we get.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
So, um, any self-respecting hot dog eater
knows guys, we, we cannot put upwith him.
So now, I know which button topush darn it.

Speaker 2 (47:46):
I gave away the secret.
I shouldn't have given away thesecret, so yeah, yeah, let's
see.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
Let's see what Ketchup or no ketchup on a hot
dog.
Well, I did put the celery saltat your, at your uh yeah
Persuasion.
Yeah, why we need celery salton a hot dog, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
It's just part of the tradition Pickle spears.

Speaker 3 (48:08):
Well, there's lots of traditions, but there's a lot
of traditions we've moved awayfrom too.

Speaker 2 (48:19):
We don't burn people when your neighbor accuses you
of being a witch.
I think that's a good traditionto move on from, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (48:23):
I don't know, I got a neighbor.
I wouldn't mind if you burnt, but uh, wow, okay, we're moving
on now.

Speaker 2 (48:26):
Well, if you live in his vicinity, I would watch out
well, trust me, if you came tomy street, it's very obvious
which neighbor I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (48:37):
So uh, I've been to your street and I know exactly
what neighbor you're talkingabout.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
With that being said, ladies and gentlemen, it is now
time for listener spotlight.
All right, buddy, okay.
This episode's listenerspotlight is brought to you by
not being brought to you by thebrim Spotlight.
All right, buddy, okay.

Speaker 3 (48:55):
This episode's listener spotlight is brought to
you by DeBrim, is not beingbrought to you by DeBrim I knew
you were going there or norTitleist, because now that
you've insulted Titleist, they're never going to listen to
our show.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
That's a good point, just to be clear just want to
make sure we get it out there.
Titleist has Phenomenalproducts.
I just am a tailor made man.

Speaker 3 (49:11):
Go ahead, I'm a dapper Dan guy, um founded.
This city was founded in themid 1700s, so it's old school.
Hmm, um, it was a city thatWashington, general Washington,
met opposition.
That was not the British Army, that would have been during the

(49:38):
Revolutionary War.
So that gives you some idea ofwhere this city is located.
This city brought the luxury oftrain travel to the road.
You could in fact say, say andit is argued by some that the

(50:02):
United States was born in thiscity.
This city saw the creation of acandy that is very well known
and in fact, bears its name.
What you're thinking right now?

Speaker 2 (50:24):
Philadelphia.
Wrong answer, I know, becausethere's no Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (50:29):
I'm just letting you know that immediately what
you're thinking anybody outthere is going to be wrong in 99
, 99 of the time.
Uh, here's one for you.
Transportation was changedforever due to an invention in
this city the federal yellowstandee line.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
I'm just kidding.
Um, it's real.
Um, there is actually a federalstanding line.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
So says the transportation guy.
So there we have it.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Okay, well, let's thank our listeners from Spokane
, washington.
Thank you all listeners.
Thank you, that was kind ofinteresting that Franklin did
guess that.
That's why I was kind ofconfused.

Speaker 3 (51:13):
It was a week off or an episode off.
But for the inspiration, franklin, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (51:19):
It helped um you know , we, we did get uh paul to
write in um, uh, and I just paul, wait, I just I, and, and
paraphrasing um, hisconversations were about, you
know, any ride that out therewas unsafe or or people don't
want to go to, and I'm not that, that was a couple weeks ago and

(51:42):
so so he was saying that, if weshould, we should identify
those rides.

Speaker 3 (51:47):
So what do you say?

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Yeah, kind of, maybe point those out to make sure to
prepare people not to, you know, although a lot of the rides are
unfortunately disappearing but,um, you know, he was basically
saying you know, unsafe, unsafe, you know rides, and we've never
been on one of those.
Not that we'll talk about here, nope.
So, um, well, anyways, withthat being said, we, uh, we are

(52:09):
on site together here in Floridareporting, and so this was, uh,
um was exciting to be able todo together.
So, with that being said, todaylooks like it would be a great
day for a bike ride, absolutely, and some golf, and some golf,
and some dinner and some.

Speaker 1 (52:28):
