Speaker 1 (00:19):
Well, it's time for
Road Adventures with Cycling Men
of Leisure, the podcast forcyclists who understand that
riding is not just about gettingto the destination, but the
experience along the way.
Now here are the originalCycling Men of Leisure Adam and
Michael.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Welcome to Road
Adventures with Cycling Men of
Leisure.
As usual, I am Adam, and today, once again in live format, I am
joined with my good friend, MrMichael Sharp.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Hello Adam, how you
doing.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Doing good, doing
good.
Greetings from Florida onceagain.
Here we are, here we areLeisuring, yes, sure we are.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Here's the deal.
I get up at like six o'clock Itake a shower, I put on dress
clothes and I haul myself downto the work event.
And you get up at eight o'clock, throw on a golf shirt, grab
your clubs, drive to the course, play 18 holes, eat some nice
(01:22):
food, come back, work out alittle bit.
I think the day beforeyesterday you were hanging out
at the pool, so he's leisuringand, as usual, I'm working.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, I didn't have
time for the pool today.
I had to go to home Depot.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
But the beautiful
thing is, this is the set.
We were in Florida like a weekand a half ago doing a golf
thing and then I had thismeeting thing that I had to come
to for the week.
And so he's like, well, I'lljust come down and we can do
some podcasting and he can dosome golfing, but it's beautiful
because he set up the desk areaof this room and it looks
(02:02):
beautiful.
I mean it works well for astudio room and, uh, it looks
beautiful.
I mean it works well for astudio.
And he had to go get a coupleof you know, went to the cheap
bin at at home depot, yeah, andgot a couple boards and some c
clamps and have have rigged upeverything here.
So I'm like on the one side ofthe of the desk and he's on the
other, so we are here in person.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
so, yeah, if you uh
don't know, uh, purple paint,
just carry some purple paintwith you.
Everything will be 75% off atHome Depot Just spray paint it
purple.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Oh, you spray it
purple.
Yeah, I noticed there was likepurple on the end of that one.
Well, the purple dot.
Oh, does that designate?
Speaker 2 (02:34):
that it's the
discount.
Yeah, so if you want something75% off, you just spray paint it
purple.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I don't know why
these, you know this high-end,
you know hickory, uh, it wouldis uh half off but ironically,
uh, some people had the sameidea I had today.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
They went, they went
to the bin of purple.
So, um, yeah, if you need someon the serious stuff, you need
some, like you know, just scrapwood for a project, you know,
children's project, or maybe aschool project.
Uh, yeah, go over to the bin 75off.
So I got some, some wood.
I had them cut it up.
Uh, we clamp everything withthese stands and, uh, they work
(03:13):
great on my home office.
But twice in a row now we'vehad some difficulty.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Last time I don't
think we had that much
difficulty, it worked out, itworked out once we got it
figured out, we didn't need tobuy any wood or anything but
this one.
There was no work we had to.
We had to augment the desk alittle bit.
But um, hey, we're here, we'recoming to, uh, our leisure
community that's right, that'sright.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Speaking of that,
there you go a little graphic
for you, for on youtube.
They're our leisure community.
We, uh, we love our leisurecommunity.
Um, we did hear from, uh, froma few individuals and I wanted
to mention those.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
So, uh, they're not
gonna bash me about ketchup
again, are they?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
actually speaking of
the ketchup you had, uh, the
garwicks, our friend scott andhis wife, well, hold on.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Oh no, Don't tell me
they're against the ketchup too
Well.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Scott says no ketchup
, but his wife is in favor of
team ketchup.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Well, you know his
wife's invited along to any of
our events.
Anytime, Bring all the ketchupyou want.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Scott, I'm sorry
there's no sensor button.
I had to leave that board athome but we'll get into that in
a minute.
But Jeff says I'm working oncatching up on the winter
episodes and wanted to say thatmy kids love when I listen to
the car because they enjoy thesound effects.
(04:42):
He said he also enjoys thesound effects, especially the
occasional beep over Michaelwhen it comes to the rim and
central time.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I mean.
So basically he enjoys it whenI get shut up, is what you're
saying?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Man, I don't have my
applause button either, but I
was gonna, and now, Wow, heenjoys it when the censorship is
is is done, that's okay, sidenote, this is the jeff that
saved our beep.
I don't have my sensor button.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Um, when we were in
iowa yeah, before that big storm
we got our stuff tore down.
Yeah, found a hotel by somelucky whatever I don't know, but
we were lucky, got that hotel, got into the hotel just before
the tornado hit town.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Yeah, he's a weather
aficionado.
Okay, he's into ballooning andwith the ballooning, pays a lot
of attention to weather.
Otherwise they don't get to flythe balloon if the weather is
not.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Is that like?
Our jersey a couple years agoin iowa had the big balloon on
it.
We never saw a single balloonthe whole time he was a little
upset about that too.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah he.
He said I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
You got a balloon on
the jersey but you're doing
nothing with ballooning, but youthink that you know they would
have had us go by or had acouple balloons out, just you
know, floating over the road orsomething.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Well, thank you, jeff
.
I appreciate you taking thetime Not only listening, of
course, that's appreciate thatbut taking the time to write.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Keep listening, kids,
cause I will be beeped more.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
So, yes, you know,
unfortunately I don't have any
of my toys.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Maybe we should just
always go out of town to record,
cause then I don't get beeped.
Maybe we should just always goout of town to record, because
then I don't get beeped.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I can figure a way
out to get a beep.
Oh man, really.
Well, it's my job.
You're not working right now, Iknow, but I can't shut it off.
That's all accidents inLivingston County.
So you know what Amateurs?
Not that I could do anythingright now, I could call staff
actually.
But all right, you know whatAmateurs?
Not that I could do anythingright now, I could call staff
(06:47):
actually, all right.
So, cricket Ledford, she wroteme, she's on the fence, but
upcoming.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
They have a tandem
recumbent.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I think the question
is what does Scott think about
this?
Well, they wrote it before andokay, and so you know, I mean
she's, she's on the fence.
I wanted to, since I know theylisten.
I wanted to challenge cricket, just make it happen.
I mean, I know you're not doingthe week-long brag, I don't
care about that, I'm justsending a message out on the
show cricket, we're here tosupport you, absolutely.
So, um, but, uh, she wanted tomake sure that her, uh, her
(07:30):
husband and mark were on theteam, and they are.
We're welcoming them back.
So, um, we've got.
We've got.
Speaking of which, yes, it'sgetting close.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
What do we got?
Three weeks until sign up forbig brag is over, yeah, and we
need like 10 more people.
Yeah, I mean, we're getting thejersey.
Oh, we need 10 more people solet me change graphics here.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
There.
This is the brag cycling men ofleisure 2025.
Big brag um jersey check.
I'm happy to announce.
Ladies and gentlemen, not onlydid we have enough for a men's
team Check, but, man, this iswhere I really wish I had my
sound effect.
We have enough for a ladiesteam, so we have crest the 10
(08:17):
for ladies as well.
So, you're right, three weeksleft.
Let's see here.
This comes out next Sunday.
Two weeks left.
Two weeks left here.
This comes out next Sunday.
Two weeks left.
Two weeks left.
Okay, when this comes out nextweek.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
So we've done that
before we have We've done the
wrong date and then it comes out.
It's like, oh, it's tomorrow, but no two weeks.
When this comes out, go to BigBrag, sign up for a week-long
ride.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
You'll get a team
customized collector's edition.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I'm going to call it
that, because limited, limited
edition 2025 that's right.
Uh, team jersey that's right.
Um, we've got another couple ofthings that we're working on
doing special just for the team.
Uh, that's only available toteam members.
So, um, it's going to be a lotof fun.
We'll have a speakeasy, like wedid that last time.
We'll find a good place to dothat, and maybe we're trying to
(09:11):
put together another littleactivity.
That should be a good time, andjoin us.
We'd love to have everybody outthere.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
So I've been working
with Stephanie For those of you
are are um.
You know you're familiar withbrag and the staff and you know
that Stephanie handles thatstuff behind the scenes.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Stephanie does all
the hard work.
I know no offense Franklin comeon, but he definitely
Stephanie's the worker bee.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
He shows up, smiles,
has a hat on and has the one
wheel and just shakes hands, kisses some babies and uh I know
stephanie does all the heavylifting she's, she's the one,
but, um, I had communicationswith her today.
Uh, it's been a small request.
If you're wondering, she gaveme the list of where we are now.
If you're wondering, if you areon the team and that your
(09:59):
registration went through, um,could you, could you message me?
So, um, adam, uh, from fromcycling men of leisure, you can
find my personal facebook orjust through the show cycling
men of leisure facebook, ifyou're.
If you're not sure, or youdon't have confirmation, or you
didn't see it in yourregistration.
So, um, if you are not on mylist, then what I'm going to do
(10:22):
is I'm going to gather a list ofthose who are not on the list.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Yet A couple things
she wanted me to make sure that
I let everybody know, and I'mactually going to pull this
email up if you give me just asecond, and I will say if you're
on the team, I would justdouble check, because last year
we ran into the problem thatsomebody thought they were on
the team but they hadn't signedup for the team.
And so definitely double check, make sure you've got either the
(10:48):
confirmation email or checkwith Adam, so that way we don't
run into the case where somebodythinks they're on the team but
they did not get put on the team.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
So so I can.
I can, I can say this.
She said here's the currentlist to make things faster,
please just keep track of thepeople who email you and we'll
add them on the later on thelist.
Otherwise, what happens is isshe has to go into the
registration manually, change itand then it creates a
bottleneck and so she's gettingemailed left and right.
She's trying to stay on top ofall the emails, so, but she does
(11:18):
want to make sure that I saythis only adults signed up for
the full week qualify, so youcan't be a child and you have to
have the full week and be anadult, and so those are the ones
that qualify for the freejersey.
Also, something I did not knowuntil 10 o'clock this morning,
(11:38):
five organic individuals thathave never written brag are on
our team.
What that's right?
Speaker 3 (11:47):
So you're saying five
people who have never written
road brag that's correct Signedup to ride brag with us.
That's correct.
Or on our team.
They don't have to ride with us.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I mean right now
that's pretty cool.
So that's a.
She says a good job to Michaeland I and thanks Adam.
So, anyways, yes, good job toMichael and I and thanks Adam.
So, anyways, yes, I have priorput out messages with you, even
last night with our video, toemail Stephanie.
I'd like to retract that.
If you're curious, email me andI will mirror what you just
(12:17):
said.
Please check.
I'm willing to take the time.
Check with me, because it'sawkward for us to be standing
there passing out jerseys andthey're like hey, I signed up
and of course I wascommunicating with the people
that I had that had signed upand never knew that you didn't
(12:38):
sign up.
So highly recommend that youcheck with us.
We'll put that on our social.
We'll make sure to get that outthere as well.
So, uh, so yeah, five organicpeople, uh, who've never run
brag, are going to be part ofthe of our leisure community, so
love it.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
We welcome them and
just letting the people know who
are you're going to get theJersey.
But if you do want any othercycling men of leisure swag, you
can go out to our swag shop andmaybe get a tech hoodie or a
cap or some shorts to go alongwith that jersey.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
And for the ladies,
since we have a ladies team, we
even sell a sports bra.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
We do.
We do have a sports bra.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Now you're probably
wondering why are the men of
leisure selling the sports bra?
Because it's for the women ofleisure, right?
But even in that case, oursales rep said why are the men
of leisure selling the sportsbra?
Because it's for the women ofleisure, right?
But even in that case, oursales rep said, hey, he's like I
can do this and we're like thatsounds good, we'll do this.
And then he kind of made usboth pause.
He's like and what do you thinkabout a sports bra?
I'm like you know what?
Why?
not yeah, you know, One of thereasons I thought it was cool is
(13:41):
you and I have seen many peopleat Ragbri who wear a sports bra
with just like a jersey over it.
You know just what's thedifference between guys
unzipping their jersey a littlebit Same thing.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Or they just wear the
sports bra around.
I mean, it's not any differentreally than a bikini top.
No, actually, probably coversmore in most cases than that,
true yeah, so go check it out.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Definitely cases than
that.
But true, yeah.
So go check it out.
Definitely you can find that atcyclingmenofleisurecom.
There's our our, um, our storespages.
There there's qr codes orthere's links there.
Whatever you, whatever floatsyour boat, however you like to,
to do it.
So, um two weeks, get signed up.
It's going to be fun.
Reminds me of covid when had allthe menus were qr codes oh yeah
(14:25):
and I watch people strugglelike I don't know if I can do
this, you know the phones backand forth but uh, um, and
sometimes I gotta be honest, I Ifeel like I know how to
navigate qr codes, but sometimesmy phone will read it and then
that little yellow bar that saysclick on it goes away so uh.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
One other thing uh, I
think we need to talk about is
there's some rides, other rides, that are open for registration.
That's right, that we'refamiliar with.
I mean, obviously, uh, we hadthe, uh, the live event when
they announced, uh, rag bride, that's right, uh, so we know
where rag bride is going.
We're not participating, butyou know we've got a lot of
friends and and teammates outthere who do ride it.
(15:04):
So, uh, we had that, they knowwhere they're going.
That registration is opened, uh, shoreline, shoreline and along
northern michigan is opened, and mup mup is with shoreline,
two different rides you can sign.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Are they having?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
them up.
This year they are having themup.
Oh, I was thinking they weren'thaving it this year.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Yeah, I saw Neil.
He and I went to this thingcalled Livingston Link Up and
just you know people who work atdifferent agencies in
Livingston County and Neil cameby he said hi, and our friend
Joe has signed up for Shoreline.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Okay, cool, we've
written to Joe on several rides.
So Shoreline, mupp, it's allnorthern Michigan and also
another favorite of ours, odram.
Odram I saw that One day rideacross Michigan 160, 65 miles
somewhere in there Good ride.
So, those are all open.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
What about the one
that we signed up for?
Speaker 3 (16:02):
You know what?
We've got a big announcement.
We're going to announce anotherride we're doing, but we're not
going to announce it right now.
Okay, we'll talk about itbefore the end of the show.
Well, we will, but you know wehaven't even done listener
spotlight yet listeners.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I've been practicing
since I don't have that.
Okay, listener spotlight, whatdo you think?
It'll do all right fine are weready for?
It.
Let me check my notes.
I'm a guy who has to.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
What do you mean?
Check your?
Speaker 2 (16:27):
notes.
Well, hold on, because I wantto make sure I didn't miss
anything.
You think this just comestogether like out of my mind.
I do okay with it.
When are we going to talk aboutyour bucket hat?
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Oh, you mean, does
wearing a bucket hat affect your
intelligence?
Yeah, oh, as soon as we're donehere, we're going to talk about
bucket hats, the people whowear them, in an incident that
happened to us at a fine diningrestaurant just yesterday you
know what you were justmentioning.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Yeah, I can't wait to
talk about that.
You mentioned rides to sign upfor spring tune up.
April 4th through the 6thspring tune up.
For those of you who may notknow, bragg does many, many
international rides.
They do state rides, winterrides.
One of the big festivals thatis really fun that you and I
(17:23):
actually attended once was, uh,the spring tune-up, they call it
, and his jersey is out for that, and so, uh, man, it's like
reminds me of the car wash Ijust showed you over here, yeah
it, uh.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
If, if anybody
remembers the 80s, it looks very
retro 80s.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
You know, it's gnarly
, it's tubular, I mean it just
it's, it screams 1987 it'sawesome, yeah, and definitely be
seen, so I just want to makesure we get that one.
So, okay, now that I've checkedmy notes, here it goes ready.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is nowtime for listener spotlight
okay, trying to keep this guygoing is just impossible.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Anyway, all righty.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
I missed my censor
button.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
I don't miss that at
all.
All right, let's go with lasttime we had the hints of.
The community is an estate thatit did not start in.
The major industries that drovethe town's development were
mining and the railroad.
(18:28):
The community supported theConfederacy.
The name is influenced or,excuse me, the name is reference
is in reference to arevolutionary battle and Bowles
basketball fans can thank thistown for its small contribution
(18:50):
to the team's success in the mid80s through the 90s now.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
This is only a joke,
because michael jordan's son is
having a bad legal battle rightnow because he made a boneheaded
move.
Is a team success michaeljordan's son?
No, yeah, right now.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
He thanks for playing
at least you didn't say st
louis, um.
And then, finally, they oncehad a sporting team that would
make you want to have a drink ofbourbon I know this was the
clue that really made me go.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
I already like it
last time, so so, but you didn't
have a guess.
Well, no, I didn't have a guessbecause I'm white.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
You had all day.
For what three days Golf course.
You could have done someresearch.
You could have done somethinking.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
I had golfing to do,
buddy.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
I get a picture.
I'm sitting at the conference.
Let me digress for a minute.
I'm sitting at the conferenceand both days I get pictures of
him on the golf course with thisstuff beautiful green in the
background him holding ayingling.
Yesterday it was a regular sizecan.
This time it was like thedouble size.
Can?
I'm just like, really dude, I'min the middle of a work
(19:54):
conference.
Anyway, no guesses, and no oneguessed what, what the town was.
So this episode's listenerspotlight is.
I mean it should have gave itaway.
Revolutionary war battle.
Yeah, you're right.
Well, well, he didn't do verywell in history and probably
couldn't tell you arevolutionary war battle, but
(20:15):
that's okay, we don't hold thatagainst him I don't know where
colonel meredith is now, but heprobably is not thinking I was
his shining star student.
No, I'm quite sure of it.
Anyway, there was this littlerevolutionary battle that
occurred January 3rd 1777 in alittle town in New Jersey called
(20:36):
Princeton.
But we're not talking aboutPrinceton, New Jersey, we are
talking about Princeton, westVirginia.
It was named in honor ofPrinceton, new Jersey.
We are talking about Princeton, west Virginia.
It was named in honor ofPrinceton, new Jersey.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Well, princeton, west
Virginia.
Thank you for listening.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
But I got to give a
couple of hints here though.
Oh, I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
I just want, I love
to thank the people that you,
that you mentioned the.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
The community
supported the Confederacy.
Uh, the the community supportedthe confederacy.
Um, according to local history, the residents themselves burned
the town before the union armygot there because they didn't
want the union army to have anyof its resources.
That's according to localhistory.
Uh, where this town now setswas originally land that was in
(21:24):
Virginia.
You know they had to break itall up.
I already told you about that.
The basketball reference Bullsbasketball fans can thank this.
This is actually the home.
Are you ready for this one?
I am.
This is actually the home of.
(21:45):
I forgot his name Rodney KingThorne.
Rodney King Thorne is importantbecause he was a basketball
executive with the Chicago Bullsand was instrumental in getting
Michael Jordan in the thirdround of the draft, bringing him
to the team.
Where they later repeated thethree-peat.
(22:07):
Yeah, and I think we all knowwhat Jordan did for the Bulls
back in the 80s and 90s.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I like Mike yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
And here's the other
one.
I thought you would get thisone.
They once had a sporting teamthat would make you want to have
a drink of bourbon You're goingto kick yourself.
Make you want to have a drinkof bourbon you're going to kick
yourself.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
they once had an
appalachian league that was
named the princeton whistle pigsoh my gosh, I, I, I would never
have gotten that, but I love itit's, it was a summer
collegiate team.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Uh, the Princeton
Whistlepigs, and that's in
reference.
Well, the bourbon references towhistlepig, and actually the
alternative name for awhistlepig is in fact a
groundhog.
So a groundhog was their thing, but they call it a whistlepig.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
And now you know,
they have a very expensive boss
hog whiskey.
Ooh, big bottle though.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
So thank you, our
listeners from Princeton, west
Virginia, and now you know theyhave a very expensive Boss Hog
whiskey.
Ooh, big bottle though.
So thank you, our listenersfrom Princeton, west Virginia.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Thank you all
listeners, but especially
Princeton, West Virginia.
Yes, All right.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Can we talk about
bucket hats?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Well or not?
Can we talk about bucket hatswell or not?
Do we talk about our debate ofof?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
how I think you do
something versus how you think
you do something.
Okay, this is how it alwayshappens.
Adam thinks he does everything,right.
No, michael doesn't knowanything.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
No, I actually I
actually asked you.
Uh, I was being serious becauseI think, because all my life I
have done it the way that I'mabout to describe.
And wrong according to you.
But all right.
So in Michigan, as long asnothing changes With an
(23:57):
executive order, just kidding,as long as nothing changes.
February 21st a new law iscoming in Michigan, which, by
the way, I understand is in manystates.
I had no idea, but they'regoing to change our sick policy
and so for every 30 hours worked, you'll get one hour, which
means that people who never hadsick time will now have sick
(24:19):
time because they're temporaryemployees.
Never had it before, but thatmeans all employees, no matter
what you do.
And then full timers aregetting more, and I was telling
you about it.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Is this going
somewhere.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Stop, don't do this.
But.
And so I said the words and I'mnot even.
I mean it's a benefit, but Idon't even call in sick now,
which led for the conversationwhere you said you mean call out
sick.
And I said, oh, is that how yousay it?
(24:50):
And you're like, well, that'show I say it.
And then I started thinkingabout it.
I'm like every job I've everhad, I've always called in sick.
And so I guess I'm curious justour leisure community, when you
are unwell and you have a childthat's unwell, or, for one
(25:13):
reason or another, that you'reunable to complete your shift
for the day, do you call in sickor do you call out sick?
Speaker 3 (25:22):
And I'm just curious
if you could see you call, let
them know you're sick, butyou're calling out I'm not going
to be there.
So I call out sick, I'm notgoing to be there.
I'm not calling in sick becauseI'm not going in.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Well, sure, you call
in sick.
You're like, hey, I'm callingin because I'm sick.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
No, sick.
No, you're calling out sick.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Anyways, you
understand this.
This again leads to an adammichael ketchup no ketchup
calling in, calling out.
So, uh, go out there to oursocials and and uh, so so I'm
going to be team calling out huh, you're going to be saying yeah
, I think, for for this onewe'll use hashtag calling out or
hashtag calling in, so you cansend us a message.
(26:06):
If you don't want it to bepublic, you can send me a text.
I'm just curious how you guysfeel, and ladies how you feel.
Do you call in sick or do youcall out sick?
I'm going to be in Kansas.
Yes, you are, I'm going to bein Kansas.
Yes, you are, I'm going to bein Kansas City, missouri, for a
(26:26):
conference.
But Kansas City, kansas is veryclose to your home.
We would like to just throw itout there for our Central Time
community.
If you want to get togetherMarch 17th, 18th or 19th in the
evening, want to get togetherwith Michael and I?
(26:48):
Let us know, see if we can makesomething happen.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Send us a message or
whatever.
We did that a couple weeks agoand our friend Armando came out.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
He sure did.
I have something I'll say for alittle bit.
Okay, but I think it's time toget in to bucket hat gate.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Bucket hat gate where
do you even start?
I mean this is a real event.
This happened to adam and Ilast and it was the most bizarre
.
I mean I'm still like going.
Was that even real?
I woke up this morning going.
Did I dream that whole thing?
I mean it's crazy.
Let me set the stage.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
All right, I'll let
you set the stage.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I get done with my
thing.
Adam had gotten us reservationsat a restaurant that we like
called Topolino's right, it's atthe top of the Riviera Resort
at Disney.
So we went down to DisneySprings, had a drink down there
and then hopped on the bus andwent out to the Riviera and went
to the restaurant.
And it's a nice restaurant.
I mean it's not like eliterestaurant, but I mean you're
(27:58):
paying $60 for, you know, uh,entree, you know that type of
thing.
So it's a, it's a fine dining,I would call it.
Uh, we're sitting there at thetable and I didn't there was
there, you know.
I mean the tables aren't thatfar apart, but there's a couple
sitting next to us and I meanthey were there.
I didn't really pay anyattention to them.
We're having our discussion andtake it from there.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
So I like, I like the
stage that you've said.
I'd like to give a few details.
If you, if you ever dine in theDisney restaurant, you know
that the almighty goal is toturn a profit, and so they, they
slam the tables in there, justenough for safety and just
enough for getting food around.
Waitresses, waiters, you know, whatever, whatever you're having
(28:48):
, you know, done so the tablesare pretty close.
Multiple times my wife and I gothere and I mean you hear
conversations next to you, or oryou know someone takes a phone
call from their child and youknow like that's in the cupboard
, it's on the second shelf, youknow you.
I mean so you can, you candefinitely hear each other.
I mean, if you're trying tolisten to a conversation which
(29:10):
can be fun at times, dependingon what's going on when, like
when I hear things like I can'tgo to texas, my warrant kicks in
there, uh, I mean, sometimes, you know, eavesdropping is fun,
but so we're just sitting thereand we weren't belligerent.
I mean, we just weren't talking.
We were just talking about theshow, talking about our team,
(29:31):
talking about we have to makesome rental car things.
We're just putting some ideastogether for, you know, because
you and I take the show prettyserious.
I mean, you know, and out ofnowhere, and I truly mean out of
nowhere well, hold on hold on.
So we had a waitress was leavingdisney because she was a
(29:55):
violinist and and very niceyoung lady.
And she's telling, I mean rightaway.
She's like, well, this isprobably one of my last nights,
I'm leaving Disney, I'm movingto Dallas.
And we were like, okay, and shesaid, well, I'm a, I'm a
violinist, but Disney is cuttingdown and some of the things,
and so you know, it's just, youknow, it's just time to move.
(30:16):
And we were like, but she hadput in 15 years.
So she was telling us thatshe's going to get, you know,
retirement rights.
We mentioned armando, ourfriend blah blah blah, and and
she says that her wedding isapril 23rd and so we're just
sitting there and and thewaitress comes by, um, she says
(30:36):
you guys want anything else.
We're like, yeah, we'll takethe check, please.
And all we said iscongratulations, good luck on
your wedding.
And this guy next to us who'swearing a camouflage bucket hat,
we're in a nice restaurant.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Yeah, he's wearing a
camouflage bucket hat.
I mean, right there it's like, come on, dude, let's have some
class, but anyway, and he startsto verbally attack you, michael
, um for you at home.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
He starts to verbally
attack michael and the verbal
attack was is like dude, justsign your check and get out of
here out of nowhere.
I was in so much shock.
For all of you who have everhung out with us, you can
imagine, you know what we'relike, you can, you can picture
it right in your head right now.
(31:27):
And, and you know, you and Ihave done pretty well for
ourselves career-wise, and so Imean, this guy is literally
trying to pick a fight with you.
I mean and I'm not just talkinga verbal argumentative he got
up and said I'm gonna go to thebathroom, I have to get away,
and the way he was saying it waslike leading us, like like
(31:47):
we're going to throw away ourcareers and and and have an
altercation, yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
He gets up after he's
insulted us and all this kind
of stuff and say leave.
You know, you guys are beingloud, rowdy, you're drunk and
you're belligerent.
It's like, dude, I've had likeone drink here while I've been
sitting here the whole time, while I'm having dinner, yeah
and uh, he gets up and makes itwell known that he's going to
the bathroom.
I've got to get away, likeyou're right.
(32:12):
I think he was like wanting oneof us wanting to follow him so
he could like try to beat usdown or whatever.
But then he leaves hissignificant wife, his girlfriend
, whomever, right there.
I mean you just get up, you,you start this confrontation and
then you just walk away andyour wife or girlfriend is like
sitting there going.
Oh, I'm sorry, you know, I meanit was just the rudest thing
ever.
And she was embarrassed, oh,totally embarrassed, and I, I
(32:35):
just like I was so, like what'sgoing on?
And then I looked at her and Iwas like, hey, like what's going
on?
And then I looked at her and Iwas like, hey, I'm sorry, but if
you thought we were being tooloud, then just be a human being
and just say excuse me, sir,you know whatever.
Or if you don't feelcomfortable doing that, just
call the waitress over and thewaitress or the manager can come
over and go.
Hey guys, we know you're havinga good time.
(32:55):
Whatever you know, can youbring it down?
We've had some complaints,that's fine.
You didn't say anything otherthan you're yelling.
Just go ahead and sign thecheck and get out of here.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
And if, if, if.
If the waitress thought that wewere being a certain way, I'm
sure she would have went to themanagement.
And I mean, first of all, drinks are $29 a piece.
I'm not going to sit there, andyou know well, it was just
crazy.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
And then he's like
well, those other people over
there on the other side of theboat, they left because of you.
It's like what are you talking?
I mean just out of the blue.
And then finally, I was like Isigned my check and it's like
I'm out of here, I'm not wastingmy time on you, buddy.
It's like I'm like you'rewearing a bucket hat and a fine
restaurant, don't even get in myface.
And as I'm getting big popcornfan, so I always take my Disney
(33:41):
thing, so I fill it with popcorn.
He's like, yeah, take yourlittle popcorn bucket and leave.
I'm just like and then what didhe do to?
Speaker 2 (33:48):
you.
So you get up and you leave andI'm filling out my check
because I saw the disappearance.
You know there was a financialsnafu on the, on the, on the
receipt, and so I'm, I'm, I'mlooking at it, going okay,
something's not right here.
And as I'm signing it andfilling out my tip, almost like
(34:11):
having an altercation withsomeone, he literally takes the
pen, yanks it out of my hand Imean and throws it on the floor.
Throws it on the floor.
And all I said, all I said Iwas about to say let me give you
some advice.
People like this have beenkicked out of disney before.
So that was what I was going tosay let me give you some advice
.
And he's like I don't want yourgod blessing advice, you know
whatever.
(34:31):
And I realized at that moment Ijust need to walk away because
I'm not even.
If you know, I was telling mywife today, because it was so
crazy, I was like you today, Ijust couldn't believe what.
I mean.
It's just so, so, so appallingwhat happened that I was just
like oh my gosh, I can't believethis happened.
So I was telling my wife todayand my wife goes well, what
would you have done if he wouldhave physically, you know, tried
(34:55):
to do anything to me?
And I said I would have walkedaway because I've seen on
Facebook pages where Disney bansyou for life.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Oh way, because I've
seen on facebook pages where
disney bans you for life oh yeah, and so it's not.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
I mean, no, and we're
smarter than that.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
No, I would never do
that, but um but he just, and
then he's like then he made somecomment about, uh, the waitress
doesn't even, you know, doesn'teven want to come around your
table and it's like, what areyou talking about?
She's been around her severaltimes, we're talking to her, we
know she's getting married, andthen he goes, she's not either.
And I was like, okay, and thenshe came walking over.
(35:27):
I was like, by the way, brandy, what day, you know?
I said no, she's gettingmarried on April 28th or
whatever, and 23rd.
And she came over and I waslike, brandy, when you get
married, she's like April 23rd.
And I was like it's just likehe was looking for anything
under the sun to try to provokeus.
So here's my theory One ofthree things, maybe two of three
things.
(35:50):
You know, either he heard us saysomething and he thought we
were talking about him I don'tknow what we were talking about.
I mean, you know, maybe you'reoverheard something and thought
we were talking about him, orhis wife or girlfriend or
whatever, and was insulted bythat Don't wear a bucket hat,
yeah, and I wasn't even reallypaying attention to either of
those.
And you know, there was amanager over at another table
who was making his rounds andyou know, if we'd have been
(36:11):
crazy, he would have came overand said hey, so it's either
that, or we said something inour conversation that offended
him, which, hey, if you and Ican't talk about what we want to
talk about, you know, settingat a table in a restaurant, well
, you know, get out of ourconversation.
Or number three, and here's thebig one We've noticed that when
(36:33):
two guys, two middle-aged guys,go to a Disney restaurant like
you know, we typically go to anice Disney restaurants there
tends to be assumptions made.
They tend to think and we've raninto this and we've talked
about it several times we gothere, we're, you know, having
dinner.
Most of the time two guys ourage are not going and hanging
out at Disney together.
(36:54):
So there's a lot of assumptionsmade that, well, maybe you know
we're living the alternativelifestyle or you know whatever,
which is, you know, I don't carehow people live or anything
like that, but people make a lotof assumptions because then you
know they come by and it's likeoh, is this on one check or two
, you know?
and there's just yeah, andthere's just always this kind of
(37:15):
this thing with like a lot ofthe the way people that it's
like they, they assume thatwe're a couple.
Um, so I'm wondering if hethought that we were a couple
and he was just offended by thatand it was just like.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I hate these people
which is what my wife said too.
She said that she, you know, probably thought that the same
thing, but it happened to us um10, 11 days ago or whatever,
yeah, two weeks ago time'sflying by.
But, um, we went to anotherrestaurant over there.
At the end I asked for okay, can we please put the bill?
(37:49):
And the waitress was kind oflooked at us like oh, oh, you,
you want to split the bill.
And we're like, well, yeah, youknow so.
Uh, we noticed that and then wemade a joke and it's happened a
lot of a lot of places and it'salways it's like this and I get
it.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
You know, I mean, you
don't a lot of people our age
aren't going to go to, like, disney and have dinner.
But we, you know all the places.
I've eaten a lot of them andyou know they have good food and
all that kind of stuff and weget a discount there because of
(38:23):
got right, you know.
But uh, so I don't know whathis problem was.
He was itching for a fight.
He wanted one of us to go backto the bathroom so he could get
all crazy, and that's why hethrew the pen out of your hand.
I mean, he was wanting you to,like, you know, swing at him or
something.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I don't know what his
problem was, but the fact that
he left his girlfriend or hiswife just there, it's like I'm
just gonna leave you, it's likethe only thing that I think the
reason why I got the pen takenout of my hand is I said dude,
your, your wife or significantother is embarrassed by you.
I mean she even said it whenyou left the table and I'm sure
that's why I got the pen rippedout of my hand.
(38:54):
So I mean she, as soon as heleft, she was like I'm so sorry,
you know he does this, he doesthis all the time and and um, I
mean I'm like well, and my wifesaid can you imagine if that was
your first date?
Like red alert.
This is not good, but yes, thatwas you know I, if you would
have, if you would have told mein a million years that that
(39:17):
someone was gonna go crazy likethat.
But, um, that that's what makesit road adventures yeah, well,
that was a.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
That was a heck of a
road adventure.
So I I don't know what is.
The guy's problem was uh.
But uh, if you wear a buckethat, that's fine.
I think that you should notwear a bucket hat my own
personal opinion.
When you're at a fine diningrestaurant, it just you know, um
, he was, he was I don't know,he was looking for a fight, but
but you know what else happenedlast night uh know what.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Ladies and gentlemen,
oh man, where's this going?
I have photographic evidencethat michael has overcome his
fears and on the escalator thathe recently had an altercation
with he rode the escalator.
Yes, I will post a picture onthe day that this episode comes
(40:11):
out.
Uh, I have to schedule that nowso I don't forget.
But a picture will come out ofmy good friend overcoming his
fears of escalators, riding theexact escalator that tried to
put him to a demise, and we cannow get past that.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
So I've overcome the
fear.
So, yeah, I can now once againsafely ride escalators.
I think you know Disney'sbreathing a sigh of relief now,
because you know my attorneydidn't call them and anything.
No, no, no, no, no.
But no, I did manage to getdown the escalator without
falling down and 911 happened tobe called.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
So remember if you
call in sick hashtag, call in.
If you call out hashtag, callout.
We do need another set oflistener spotlight clues.
We also have to talk about ourthird cycling event.
Do you want to do the honors?
Speaker 3 (41:12):
yes, we are excited
to announce and this is exciting
because, uh, we had looked atthis ride a couple of months ago
and it had said that it was notgoing to happen this month
because this time this year yeah, this year, sorry Because they
were looking at maybe changingit up and they didn't know if
(41:33):
they would have the abilitiesnow to continue the ride because
it's been going on for 30-someyears.
So we didn't think this ridewas going to happen this year
and we thought, well, maybe it'snever going on for 30 some
years.
So we didn't think this ridewas going to happen this year
and we thought, well, maybe it'snever going to happen.
And we actually signed up forthis ride in 2020, but obviously
, with what happened in 2020, wedid not get to ride.
So I saw that they were lookingfor registration and I sent it
(41:55):
over to you and I said they'redoing it this year and you were
like let's go, we will beparticipating in rain.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
The rain ride.
You know, I remember the firsttime we signed up and I found
the jersey and sent you thejersey.
It had like lightning bolts onit.
It was an awesome jersey.
Yeah, I mean, especially as aMichigan fan, it was awesome.
It was Michigan blue withyellow lightning bolts, and
you're a Michigan fan, right?
Anyways?
Yes, but rain is 160 miles, yes, right across Indiana One day.
(42:32):
One day, yep Starts and ends atcolleges Terre Haute to
Richmond, indiana.
I think, and so you know this isnot for for everybody as of
right now, it's definitely notfor you.
Why do you say that?
(42:53):
How many miles you got in thisyear?
Speaker 3 (42:57):
Is this relevant?
Let's just keep going.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Okay, sorry, I
apologize.
Yes, relevant, let's just keepgoing.
Okay, sorry, I apologize.
Um, yes, my good friend needsto develop a plan asap, so I
will be getting on a plan, because this is not a ride.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
I mean, there's been
times we've went on rides that
we hadn't done a lot of trainingand it's like you know what
you're going on a five or sixday ride.
You get through the firstcouple of days and you can make
it, but this is one day you'vegot from basically sun down
sunrise to a little bit aftersundown to get there.
It's no joke.
I mean, it's not like we didthe math.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
We did the math and
you get 14 hours to do it,
although I always, every timethey say you have 14 hours to do
it, I'm like you think I'm ahalf hour out.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
I'm gonna let you
stop me yeah, it's like I'm
gonna get out my cell phone nopehey, with that christmas idea,
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
I never told you this
, you know, you talked about the
christmas gifts that rise lightoh, the one that goes on your
uh, your handlebars bought one.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Oh, and that the uh,
your computer will click right
into the top of the light yeah, yeah, on black friday or
something like that, I, I wasable to find it.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Uh, I don't know how
long it lasts, but man, that
thing is bright, so, um, butanyways, I'll turn on every
light I can.
I'll start lighting candles ifI have to.
I'm I always when they say youhave 14 hours and then we're
going to pull you.
Okay, good luck with that.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
You're pulling you
from a public road.
So I mean I get it because Ican say you know what you're on
this ride.
It's like, okay, well, fine, Iquit the ride.
You need me to sign somethingor whatever.
I mean I get from the liabilitything.
But, um, so we are going toride across Indiana and one day,
if there's any crazy people outthere that would like to join
us, uh, registration is going onnow.
(44:48):
So and the math?
The math that we did.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
It's not bad.
No, it's 14, 14 average.
So, um, we did, we went andlooked at for how long, how many
hours, well it's, I mean, areyou taking the full 14?
Full 14, yeah, but so, but whenyou and I, I we've looked back,
yeah, we look back on stravaand you know we've done 165 in
one day.
Um, another ride, we did, um,which we don't talk about on the
(45:16):
show no, was 160.
You really want to know?
Go to my strava page, go goback and look at 160.
But, um, I know someone isreally doing it right now, but
if you want to know more aboutit, you can write us.
We just want to talk about ithere.
But um, and that one, um, um,it was weird.
I started out struggling andthen I came strong and then,
(45:39):
about three quarters of the day,you became not as strong I
started out really good and then, boy man, I just like hit a
wall and I was like so.
But you know that even then wewould go like 10, 15 miles, we'd
pull over, take a break.
Um, that's when that ying yangsaid he was gonna gonna pull us
he he'd start threatening topull us like a mile five.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
It's like, dude,
we've done this before Because I
mean that wasn't our first longdistance.
We had done Audram the one dayright across Michigan twice
before we had done that, and thefirst time we did the one day
was like 145.
And then they lengthened it tolike 163 or something.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Yeah, it was weird.
Um, which is really weirdbecause when I've told people
this story, I'm like, oh yeah,we were there the year that they
went out to the lake and back, and they're like well, you do
that every year no, they didn'tused to and in 19, when we first
did.
I think we did it in 19 and 21,um and um yeah, because I went
(46:39):
back and looked and 19, it justwent from the double j ranch
right to the lake bay city yeah, they did not give you the
option of going over to theactual lake and then coming back
like michigan.
Yeah, you know while I'm back tobay city.
But and then the next year, Imean two years later, when we
did it, they gave us a choice.
They said you can either a um,you can just take this route or
(47:00):
this route with the extended.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
And we were like man,
we want to dip our tires doing
lake to lake straight across, sothat was cool you know what?
Speaker 2 (47:08):
that was the day that
, uh, our friend jacob killed it
.
Man, he, he was a monster, he,uh, he, he smoked us all and uh,
on the way home, he was not arace, it's not a race, but he
definitely didn't he had aphenomenal average too.
So um, of course I that was.
Speaker 3 (47:24):
Also.
Well, that was no.
Was that?
No, that wasn't, it was the.
Uh, was it the first year?
Are you talking that jacob didreally well first time, we did
our second time it was thesecond second time.
Yeah, that was the uh the yeara.
I ripped the toenail off my toebecause you made me sleep in
this silly loft thing at thiscabin.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
I booked the room.
I took the bed.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
So I had the loft.
I'm climbing up this ladder.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
You know that ride
was never good for you.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
Yeah, because I also
forgot my cycling shoes and
everybody that we're riding withother three guys I know there's
what two more guys in theircabin everybody's like on their
phone trying to help me findcycling shoes or pedals, and it
was jacob that, actually.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
I think either you or
jacob called one of the
mechanics and they're like well,we don't have any shoes, yeah,
but we've got like regular flatuh pedals yeah, we were all
using our resources, all of uswere trying to figure out
something for you, and then youfinally went up to the mechanic
and he had a regular pair ofjust like trainer not trainer
(48:28):
pedal but just regular, ordinarycruise bike pedals and it's
like put those puppies on andI'll just wear my feelers and I
wrote it in my feelings which Ialways I mean I give you credit
for, because you know you hadtrained a lot actually and you
know you mean you're training, you're pulling up and then
pushing down.
So you had to push down all daylong.
So we made it.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
We made it so we're
doing rain.
That'll be fun, and we werereally disappointed in 2020 when
it got canceled, for sure, uh,we were disappointed when we
because it had been on our listfor a while, when we saw that
they weren't going to do it andthen they brought it back.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
So we'll be doing
that.
Anyone who is crazy enough tojoin us or or not crazy, but I'm
teasing, obviously, becausewe're going to do it.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
But or if you just
want to come out to richmond and
see us come across the uh, theinline ring, the cowbell ring,
the cowbell.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Um, so I believe that
is the 19th of july and uh the
uh.
I'm getting confirmation rightnow yes, I am uh working on
looking that up I'm pretty sureit's 19th, saturday the 19th, so
I'll let him confirm, but theSaturday ride all day long, join
(49:45):
us.
I, like you, will probably bewearing a Cycling Men of Leisure
kit, full kit, that day, ohyeah.
Speaker 3 (49:54):
Saturday, july 19th
2025.
Oh yeah, I'll be decked outfull cycling.
Men of leisure.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
With your DeBrim
Great job.
I'm really proud of you aboutthat too.
No, no, well, listen, don'tworry, melanie, you and I and
Keith, we are so safe and we'renot going to have any
dermatology appointments withsun on us Until it becomes a
(50:23):
sail and it blows you off thebike.
If it is windy that day.
I might have to cut it down, soI'm excited about that.
It keeps me training.
I'm back on Zwift Because ofthat.
I've been riding like crazy, and so I'm here to support you
to get your keister moving.
Speaker 3 (50:43):
My friend, I will
start doing that because, well,
I have to, or else I will youknow, perish somewhere out in
the middle of Indiana.
Speaker 2 (50:52):
You know what it
reminds me of and this is one of
those memories Because you know, one day when I the in the
senior home and I'm hoping Ihave my my wits about me there's
a memory that I have that youknow franklin has been just
absolutely amazing to us.
I mean, helped us out, has madea contributory donation, um
(51:15):
spreads the show, helps us andcomes up to us, but I'll never
forget when he kind of had alittle fun at our expense, and
this is a memory.
So we're in Bragg 23, I believe, and yeah, 2023.
Yeah.
And so the first night we getour jerseys, we're passing them
(51:36):
out, we go into town, we getdinner and we're staying
underneath this, I don't know.
Pavilion yeah, they use it as afarmer's market.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
Is that what they do?
Yeah, that's what it was usedfor.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
So well, franklin
comes over on his one wheel, and
following him is a policeofficer.
And so the police officer'slike hey, you're not supposed to
be over here, but you know, Imean, I'm only supposed to tell
you that I don't care what youdo.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
It was just adjacent
to the regular camping spot and
the other camping spots arereally full, and we thought well
, this is perfect.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
Right, and he was
really nice, wonderful officer.
He said I'm only supposed totell you but what you do after
this?
I'm leaving and I'm not comingback.
And so we were like so okay, Imean, so do I defy your order
based upon what you're tellingme?
So anyways, of course, franklinbeing the director, and he
knows us, he's advocating for usand he's like listen, these
(52:34):
guys are not, they're not goingto cause any problems.
And he's like I don't care whatthey do, when I leave here, I'm
not coming back.
And so we all were laughing.
And then, of course, franklinhaving a conversation with us,
and then he says the followingphrase he says you boys been
training and we're like, no, Ididn't get a lot of training in,
(52:54):
and he has, like this evil, like wait till tomorrow, and it
was like, okay, you know.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
I mean, we knew what
the elevation was but, you know
it's hard to understand theelevation until you're like,
really out there on the road andthen, like halfway through the
day, I kept thinking man, he waslaughing at us, as he should
have been.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
So that's one of the
memories that I have.
So, yes, this year I, with theelevation that we have coming up
, uh, training is definitely.
Of course, I've been on ahealth mission, obviously, but,
um, at the same time, um,training is definitely this year
.
It's on the forefront for mebecause, yeah, that killed me
almost.
So we got her done, though.
(53:44):
So that's it.
I mean, we appreciate all ofyou, as usual.
I would be remiss if I, beforeyou go into listener spotlight,
I want to take this time tothank Alex Scott and Dennis.
Thank you for being our monthlysubscribers.
If you are looking to be amonthly subscriber at levels of
like a dollar a month, or $2 amonth or $3 a month, you'll get
(54:08):
more.
Mention your name in every showand, you never know, something
might show up in your mailbox.
I've done that too.
They can all attest to that.
So, that being said, I'm goingto do it.
I'm going to try it again.
Ready, it's now time forlistener spotlight that's right.
Speaker 3 (54:25):
This episode's clues
for listener spotlight are as
follows st louis, I haven't donethat in a while.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
I figured it was time
.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
Yeah well, you know
what?
You're still not right?
Dang it, so take.
So take St Louis off your guess.
Early settlers were primarilyEnglish and they were drawn to
the area due to a timber drive.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
A lot of timber Early
1900s there was over 15 mills
within four miles of thiscommunity, and we're talking
sawmills and gristmills.
So I normally don't do this,but since we're together, I'm
thinking like near a body ofwater, river or something like
that.
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
That would be smart,
because we're talking early
1900s, not a lot of electricityout there, so you had to run
those mills.
So you're headed down the rightpath.
Originally it had a differentname, but that was changed prior
to the early 1800s.
Uh, the town was established inthe 1790s.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
However, it was not
incorporated until the 1890s
they had a little ways to thinkabout it.
It's like are we going?
Speaker 3 (55:39):
to incorporate.
Every year we vote and we'realways like you know we always
get down to it.
And there's dave never wants tovote, he always abstains and
he's never breaks the tie andit's like playing games with
dave, like like a board game, like come on, man, it's your
turn.
So he's the guy spending 35minutes on his turn at Clue.
(55:59):
That's right.
Was it Colonel Mustard in thestudy with the dagger of the
candles?
Dagger or candle?
Speaker 2 (56:05):
It was the rope day
and hang yourself with it, just
go.
Speaker 3 (56:08):
Yeah, people who like
extremes this is the town for
them.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Extremes, extremes,
so river and extreme Okay.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
Yes, extremes,
extremes, so river and extreme.
Okay, yes, uh, other majorindustries uh in the area
include poultry agriculture andcanneries, and if you are a
remote worker, which a lot of usare, this town is for you
there's going to be a lot lessremote workers, but if you're a
(56:40):
remote worker and a lot of usare this town is for you.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
This town is for you
this remote worker.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
This town is for you,
so you know it's a lot of mills
, I don't know know why.
Agriculture canneries.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
Don't answer this,
because I love when we get
guesses.
I don't know, but somethingjust came up like Seattle area,
but I don't think Seattle, Imean they could have logging
mills.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
Now let me help you
out, let me help our community
out.
I've already used Seattle.
A couple months ago, seattlewas already there, spokane was
there, there, spokane was thereand Spokane was there.
So I'm not repeating.
I mean, we got a lot of townsto go to before I start
repeating places which, by theway, I looked at our numbers for
(57:31):
our last show.
It's always interesting 10% ofour listeners are from out of
the country.
I love it.
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
I always wonder, like
, if people are on cruises, does
that count?
Have you ever, I mean, do youtake cruises in?
Speaker 3 (57:43):
Albania.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
I don't think so I
don't think so either.
I mean when I sign up forcruises I don't be like it's
cold in Michigan.
I'm going to Albania.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
Albania, although I
do want to welcome our listeners
from Japan.
We've just recently acquired acouple of listeners from Japan.
Hadn't had anybody from Japanbefore, so welcome if you're
listening from Japan.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
They were probably
stuck on that airplane that
struck the Delta plane today.
What you didn't see it becauseyou were working.
Yeah, some of us were working, but they so the news story says
that they show the Japan Airways.
I don't know.
Is it Japan Airways or JAL?
I think it's JAL, literally cutinto the rear.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
That was today.
That was today.
Man, it's getting unsafe to fly.
There's been a lot of incidents.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Don't say that you
and I are flying on Friday.
Speaker 3 (58:36):
Anyway, yeah, I don't
necessarily there could be some
cruises, but a lot of theplaces that we're getting, you
know, obviously, people fromGermany are not on a cruise Now.
The people in Japan, I thoughtcould be servicemen, but when I
saw the location, it's like wedon't have a US base where we
were getting the listens from.
So, thank you, whoever you are,or hey, if you're, if you are
(58:59):
listening to us from japan oranother foreign country, hey,
tell us, you know, drop us anote, say, hey, I'm listening to
you guys.
This is how I found you, thisis why I'm listening I.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
I would like to
piggyback off that not only
could you write us and tell usyou know why you found it, how
you found it, how you found it.
Maybe you're like you said, maybe you're stationed over
there, but do you listen on, youknow, through the computer?
Do you listen on podcast foryour phone?
I just would love to know justsome education of how different
(59:32):
people listen outside thecountry.
Speaker 3 (59:34):
Yeah, it would be
cool.
And I have one more thingbefore we wrap this up.
I'm sitting down.
You know we have had listenersfrom all over this country.
We still have not gotten alistener from Wyoming.
I know when is everybody fromWyoming.
Please, if you know somebodyfrom Wyoming I don't care
(59:55):
whether they cycle or they likeleisuring or anything Tell them
hey, you got to download andlisten to part of this video so
we can get somebody from Wyoming.
If you live in Wyoming, that'seven better.
But some reason we got everyother state, we ain't got a
Wyoming.
That's wonderful.
I never yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Well, listen, you've
never been to Wyoming, I've
never been to Wyoming, but well, you told me your story.
Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
But you've never been
to wyoming.
I've never been to wyoming, butyou well, you told me your
story.
But my question is is I've beentold that you can go like 90
miles an hour in wyoming.
No, they have a speed limit.
They do now back in the 90s, inthe early 90s, mid 90s, early
90s, uh, montana did not have aspeed limit.
Um, basically, they had signsand it was well they didn.
They didn't.
They had a speed limit.
It's like at night you wereonly supposed to go like I don't
know 60.
But I, the sign said somethinglike along the lines speed limit
(01:00:48):
, go at a reasonable speed orwhatever.
But they didn't have anythingposted.
So basically, you go as fast asyou want to.
Cause, I went clear across thatstate when I was like either
like still in college or acouple of years out of college,
and I remember I had my car andit's like I'm going to see how
fast.
I got up to like 110.
And of course my car is likeabout ready to shake apart, but
(01:01:09):
I got.
You know, I didn't go very farat that speed, but um, yeah,
they didn't really have a posteddaytime thing.
They've since gotten rid ofthat, but um, um, when I was in
wyoming actually I was inwyoming not very, you know last
year, maybe the year before.
Um, yeah, they've got speedlimits there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Oh, because I was
thinking like if somebody
downloaded in like minnesota, and then they drove so fast
across the state.
Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
Maybe that's why
you're not well here's the
problem Minnesota, that's like astate and a half away from
Wyoming, I know, but I figuredif there was no speed limit.
But you have to go throughSouth Dakota.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I'll tell you what
I'm going to do for you.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
South Dakota has a
speed limit.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
You're a great friend
.
I'm going to spin up my VPN.
I'm going to log into a Wyomingserver.
I'm going to get it off theboard for you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
It just really
bothers.
It's like, of all places, Imean we and we get tons of
listeners from all.
I mean we've got listeners fromRhode Island, for God's sakes.
I mean we've got listeners from, you know, all over Canada and
Mexico and all the other states.
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
but not Wyoming.
So recently we I'll close withthis we were told at PodFest,
which was an episode back, thatwe should put a media kit
together and we worked on ourmedia kit.
We were both really surprised.
Over 1,750 cities, people havelistened or have come up on the
(01:02:40):
data.
So I think it takes ageographic location of when you
hit download.
So I think you're right.
I don't think someone fromWyoming has ever downloaded us,
but there's cycling in Wyoming, there's leisuring in Wyoming.
There's a lot of leisuring inWyoming.
Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
So, and I think they
have a ride called, isn't it,
tour to Wyoming.
I think they've got anorganized ride, that's that's up
there.
I've been to Wyoming many times.
I've seen cyclists there.
We'll keep pushing, so allright.
Or if we don't, we're justputting Adam on a flight.
In six months you're gonna flyto.
You know, cheyenne, you'regonna get off the plane, you're
gonna listen to a coupleepisodes, then we'll put you
back on a plane.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
You're gonna fly home
honey, I gotta go to work today
.
Well, listen, uh, I love beingwith you, my friend, as this is,
this is fun to do this inperson absolutely um, oh, I
almost.
I almost screwed up.
I said I would talk about, uh,traveling with the gear and
stuff.
So, uh, I will.
(01:03:46):
I will close with this.
So a couple of you wrote me andasked me how did it go with
taking the studio on the road?
Well, definitely took way toomuch last time.
Um, um, we have two devicesthat help us record the audio
and the video.
We have one device that will doboth, but it has its
limitations.
(01:04:06):
Um, you can't have as many likelike my.
I talk about my toys, where Ihave a big soundboard with all
my sound effects.
Um, that board is is pretty.
I know I know you'redisappointed.
Yeah, I'm so sorry about that, buddy, but um, it's a pretty big
device.
Um, it's probably 16 inches by16 inches, and so it goes in a
(01:04:28):
backpack and then then all thecables and everything, and so we
realized that you know twoweeks ago that we, we brought
way too much, and so then it waskind of like operation
minimalized.
And so, uh, this time we, webrought the bare bones and we
have the 4k cameras and we'vegot everything.
We did run into a few snafus, but, um, yeah, for those of you
(01:04:50):
who asked, uh, we're able to doit and, um, I think we're going
to be able to do some, to beable to do some, some more stuff
on the road.
So, I'm pretty, we should,we'll take a picture.
We should do that too, beforewe close everything and start
boxing everything up.
So, um, I'm gonna send you homewith the trim that I bought
thank you fantastic I canimagine the tsa note.
(01:05:13):
Excuse me, do you bring some?
Speaker 3 (01:05:14):
lumber.
No, I'm just gonna wrap ducttape around it, walk up and say
I'm gonna, I want this, you know, put this in the with my step
ladder exactly, yeah absolutelywell, thank you all.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Um, we look forward
to seeing you, uh, at one of our

Uh, reach out to us if you needanything.

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):

this.
