Teddy Long invites us into the unfiltered world of professional wrestling, bringing decades of ringside experience to a conversation that spans from Hall of Fame revelations to backstage brawls that never made it to television.

The wrestling legend shares his genuine excitement about Lex Luger's upcoming WWE Hall of Fame induction, offering a refreshingly positive perspective from their years working together. "I never had not one problem out of Luger. He was always nice to me," Teddy reveals, providing contrast to Luger's own admissions about his difficult past.

When our discussion shifts to current WWE storylines, particularly the John Cena heel turn and WrestleMania buildup, Teddy defends WWE's methodical approach: "They turned him heel. Now you got suspense. People are wondering now what's next." His old-school perspective on patient storytelling stands as a thoughtful counterpoint to today's faster-paced entertainment expectations.

The most riveting moments come when Teddy pulls back the curtain on genuine locker room altercations, recounting how Road Warrior Hawk and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams once locked themselves in a room to settle their differences physically – a stark reminder of wrestling's rougher past when disputes were handled differently than today's corporate environment.

Whether you're fascinated by wrestling history, curious about today's product, or simply enjoy unfiltered conversations with legendary personalities, this candid discussion with Teddy Long delivers authentic insights that only someone who lived through wrestling's most transformative eras could provide. Join us for stories you won't hear anywhere else, told with the straightforward honesty that has made Teddy a beloved figure in professional wrestling.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Well, we finally made it here, Teddy, after a little
technical problems.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
But why don't you just apologize everybody and let
them know why we had all thetechnical problems and why we're
late?
Why don't you apologize andtell them exactly what you did?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Actually, I will tell you exactly I'm going to.
While we're doing this too, wehad to switch things around a
little bit, because the programwe use was forcing me to create
another program and it didn'tlike Teddy, so Teddy kept
getting booted out.
We had to go back to our oldlinks that we used to use.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Old school.
Old school.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Never fails.
That's right, teddy.
I saw something today.
I want to see if this rings abell with you.
You ready?
Yeah, there was somebody whoonce said once again you're
dipping in the mustard andtrying to catch up.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
I said that one time.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
You're damn in the mustard and trying to catch up,
I said that one time You're damnright, tell me about that
comment and where did it comefrom and what made you say that?
I just thought it up.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
That was great stuff.
That's great.
Man.
At that time nobody was writinganything you know, no writers
or nothing you know, so you hadto come off the cuff.
So I just thought it up, thinkabout it, dipping in the mustard
, trying to catch up.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I thought it was great.
I thought when I read that Iwas like man.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
That's fantastic shit right there fantastic stuff.

Oh, the best question.
I'm sorry, see what I'm saying,see what I'm saying.
Quit being so mean oh the bestquestion.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I'm sorry, see what.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I'm saying See what I'm saying, Ladies and gentlemen
, ladies and gentlemen, forthose out there that really feel
bad for me I know there's somepeople- that are really feeling
bad for me.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Thank you so much for your sympathy.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
That is great news.
I want to get your thoughts onthis.
Lex Luger has been inductedwill be inducted into the WWE
Hall of Fame.
Teddy, that is fantastic news, especially for Lex fans.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Yeah, well, you're exactly right and I had the
opportunity.
You know I've known Lex mywhole entire career, so I had
the opportunity today to texthim and I was trying to get him
to get with us today on thepodcast here.
But you know it's a last minutething and I understand, but he
was willing to do that.
But he, but he haven't.
Probably he's had a cold so hesaid he kind of lost his voice.
But uh, he's gonna let me knowwhen he's get cleared and we're

(02:55):
gonna talk about that, hopefullybefore he goes into the hall of
fame.
But congratulations to lexluger, a man that has certainly
overcome and you know that wasmessed up out in the world for a
while but he found God, got Godin his life and he's got
himself straightened out and I'mjust so proud now to be
associated with him.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
When you worked with Lex.
I said this on another showjust the other day on
Sportskeeda, and Lex hasadmitted openly that he was an
ass back then.
He really was.
But when you worked with him, teddy, back in the WCW days, how
was he for you to work with?
Was he an ass to you as well,or was he just you know?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Well, you know, we never did hang like that.
You know for him to be an assto me.
You know, I mean, every time Imet Legs, legs always talked to
me, spoke to me.
Every time I met Lex, lexalways talked to me, spoke to me
even when I was refereeing.
I never had not one problem outof Lugo.
He was always nice to me, but Idid see him snub a lot of
people.
But, like I said, man, I neverhad a problem with him All right

(03:58):
, somebody else going into theHall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Let me bring this up as well the Natural Disasters,
john Tinta.
And I'm like, oh, it justdrives me going into the hall of
fame.
Let me bring this up as well, the natural disasters, john
tinta.
And, uh, I'm like, oh, it justdrives me crazy, fred, fred,
uncle, fred, don't hate on me,but I just forget your name when
I'm trying to do it off thecuff.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
But uh, fred, has been a part of our show.
Put it down.
That's all you gotta do.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Put it down here it goes right down oh no, that
ain't it but fred ottman, uh,who has joined us on the show
here on Road Trip After Hours,is just a great guy.
It's so good to see him getinto the Hall of Fame, teddy, as
well.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Oh yeah, man.
Congratulations to both ofthose guys.
Those are old school guys thatI had the chance to work with
and certainly they've had twogreat careers and thank God
they're still alive and able tobe here to accept that.
So congratulations to thoseguys.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
All right, also want to talk about Nikki Bella.
Nikki Bella is teasing a returnto WWE.
Teddy, does that excite you atall?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Well, that doesn't excite me.
I mean I'd like to see a return.
You know she was a good workerwhen she was there.
She learned a lot in a shorttime.
She was very nice to work with, had a great attitude.
I mean, every time she saw meshe'd always run up Teddy Long,
you know and me and her alwaysspoke and me and her were kind
of like Trish Stratters, youknow we were always, you know,

(05:20):
good and nice to each other.
So congratulations to NikkiBella, if she's coming back, you
know I can't wait to see her.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, and she still is in pretty good shape.
She was in with the RoyalRumble, so it was something to
see then, and it was a surprisereturn for Nikki.
I thought maybe that'd be aone-off, but it appears that she
may be coming back, so let'shope so.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
She's made a name for herself.
She's had a chance to get outthere and do several things in
Hollywood man, so you knowshe'll be good.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
All right, teddy, you and I kind of went back and
forth on this the other day on adifferent show, but I'm going
to say again that the buildupfor WrestleMania is either super
slow, with only six weeks left,or they didn't know what to do

(06:08):
after the big you know, uh, fussat the pay-per-view when john
cerner has seen a turned heel.
I, here's the problem.
I don't understand how you havesuch a big big thing on a
pay-per-view and you don'tfollow it up on any of your
shows not on Monday Night Raw,not on SmackDown and yet we get

(06:30):
a little bit of a promo out ofCody Rhodes.
But basically that's all we'vegotten, and even though I know
you say we still have weeks togo, here's the problem.
Now we're out of the countryand the show is going to run at
three o'clock in the afternoon.
It's not going to be live, it'snot going to have the same
impact as we get closer toWrestleMania, because the shows

(06:50):
are now buried in the middle ofthe day while they're on this
run.
I don't understand why wehaven't seen something from Rock
or John Cena.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Well, like I said, we talked about this before You're
rushing it.
Ok, I think this is thegreatest thing in the world.
Take your time.
They turned him heel.
Now you got suspense.
People are wondering now what'snext, and that's what you're
doing.
You're going to know what'snext and that's what.
Let them wait.
Let them wait to see what'snext.
So that's.
I think it's great man Not torush right into it, or either,

(07:25):
out of the blue, they don't tellyou something and all of a
sudden, something does happen.
So I think I'm taking theirtime with it.
You know doing the right thing, because basically, whenever he
does show up on any tv orwherever, you're gonna find out
exactly how they care about himnow yeah now john cena will be
on the monday night, raw comingup, uh, I can't remember.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
They're in belgium or somewhere and he'll be there
for that, but again, that's 3o'clock in the afternoon, so
what?
I just feel like they missedopportunities in primetime
programming on Netflix tocontinue the story with the Rock
or John Cena's you knowinvolvement in some fashion or
another.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
You're just going too quick.
I'm telling you, slow down.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
It's going to happen.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
But the way that they're doing it is a good way.
They're taking their time withit because they may be right now
working up something that'sreally going to be big whenever
he does show.
So, like I said, you know wehave different opinions on
things, but I think what they'redoing is the right way to do it
.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Hey, those of you who are watching right now.
What do you think?
Do we need to see the Rock andJohn Cena?
Are you missing that on your TV?
Or do you agree with Teddy?
Do you think just take yourtime and let's see where it goes
?
Leave your comments in thecomments section.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
And I wanted to mention this.
You were saying somethingearlier.
Golly, what did you just say?
It'll come back to me.
Because I was so thrown on it.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
You need to put it down, Teddy.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
No, I need to put it up.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha ha ha, ha yeah, joey 77, dropping
in saying hello Mac and Teddy.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Hey, joey, 77.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
And we do.
We do have some questionscoming up.
I will answer the mailbag andif you pop in here between now
and then I will pop them on thescreen as well.
Misty McCray also popping in,saying spring break is next week
.
Man, that's hard to believe.
And although, teddy, in Georgia, where you and I are, they're
calling for maybe some prettybad, severe weather over the
weekend I'm saying possibilitiesof tornadoes all up and down

(09:32):
the state.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Well, they ain't going to bother me, because I
don't care nothing about springbreaks.
I'm going to be breakingsomewhere else, you be.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
All right.
Now talking about the wholejohn cena heel turn, he joins
the rock and everybody's kind ofgot a feeling that the two of
them aren't just the only two, that there could be another
member, a third member, kind oflike we had when hulk hogan was
announced as the third member, and names that have been thrown

(10:04):
out there.
I want to get your take on this, teddy.
The names that have been thrownout there as the third member
include Seth Rollins or RheaRipley.
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
uh, that would be good, seth.
Uh, I love him to death.
He's kind of like a heel in inreal life too, so so it won't be
hard for him.
Uh, real ripley, what asweetheart.
And uh, I just think that shecould pull that off and she's to
me.
You know what I mean it's tolook at her, nor, and to watch

(10:37):
her, you know, perform as a heel.
That's going to be real becauseshe's so nice.
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, If I had a choice between the two, I would
say Rhea Ripley would be thechoice you know.
More likely choice, you know.
And speaking of third membersof a faction like that, let's
talk about Hulk Hogan.
What are we talking about now?
He's on the wrong side ofsocial media again, teddy.

(11:04):
What's he done?
No, let me read this to you.
This just came out on sportskid this afternoon.
I saw it.
Uh, actually it was reported byuh news 12.
Uh, that wwe hall of famer hulkhogan left many fans upset
during a meet and greet at ashop right in Montgomery.
Fans were unhappy and didn'tget to meet the Hulkster.

(11:26):
After waiting for the wrestlingicon for hours, which made a
lot of the kids cry.
He just from reports.
He kind of showed up and heleft after, you know, after just
a short amount of time, eventhough they were promised they'd
get autographs and pictures.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Well, think about him when he turned heel and bashed
at the beach.
Now go back to that and allthat when the people threw beer
cans and they were reallyletting you know, okay.
So there you go, man.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Teddy, here's a funny thing.
Can you imagine?
You have the Rock, you haveJohn Cena.
You're looking for that thirdmember, who was the third member
of the NWO, who is a true heelin real life right now Hulk
Hogan.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Could you imagine?

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I'd bring him right in.
I think that would be somethingthe fans would not expect and
that's just something, as wewere talking, that kind of
popped in my head.
But what a cool angle thatcould be, because he was a third
member of one of the mostfamous stables of recent memory,
and it'd be the third member ofthis one as well, and what will
most likely be a short livedkind of storyline over next year

(12:32):
.
So it's not going to be likeit's going to go on for years.
So it doesn't matter his age,it matters because of the heat
he brings right.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Let me tell you something about this.
Let me give you why you broughtthat age stuff up.
All that age thing is that somepeople that use that for an
excuse.
They don't want you there, noway.
So the next thing they do well, you know why bring the guy back
.
He's too old.
You know, if you're able toperform your job, if you're able
to talk or whatever, thenyou're not.
People worry about numbers.
Numbers are going to come.
We can't stop that.

(12:59):
So I'm just saying they justuse that.
You know another way of wherethey don't have to hire you.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yep, I think it'd be a great shot and a great way to
kind of surprise people andactually shock them.
I asked who that third personmay be.
Michael Steele, popping in.
Have to take your time.
He's talking about the angle.
Like Teddy was saying earlier, can't risk any kind of injury
now that the heel turn hashappened.
I agree with that.
You've got to be careful on theinjuries, but I do think it's

(13:26):
not hard to pick up a phone andrecord yourself in the video
You've got.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Kevin Owens in his car.
It's old school, they ain'tdoing that.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yeah, but even in old school.
Look when the NWO got together, those guys you know, once they
hit and everybody found out athird member man, it was pedal
to the metal and they didn't letup.
In this case it's completelyopposite.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Well, that's good.
That way, now you can't figureit out.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
And let's see Joey77 saying Teddy and Mac is a heel
turn bigger than Hogan's heelturn, teddy?
No, I agree, absolutely not,and here's the reason why I feel
that way.
Look at what happened in thering after it happened.
The disgust by the fans wasreal, having not only just the

(14:16):
guys in the ring gettingbombarded by the trash, but mean
Jean Oakland trying to handlean interview, and you know
people are throwing batteriesand throwing full bottles of
beer.
I mean it was dangerous outthere.
There was a big difference, bigdifference to me, right, right,
let's see we also have well, scott Gillespie.
Yeah, yeah, teddy, I'm froze uphere for a minute, are you

(14:42):
there?

Speaker 3 (14:42):
well, uh, we were, uh , scott.
Uh, galepsy has joined us andhe's saying that la night uh
should be the third member.
He said he did the same handgestures as the rock did, so
he's thinking it may be la nightas the third member.
That's scott galepsy.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Got you.
Thank you so much, teddy.
For whatever reason I got hungup.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
You don't owe me no applause, just keep on going,
let's go.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Come on, all right.
Also, after that we have Scottpopping in again saying real
American beer is pretty good.
I'm not a big beer drinker so Iwouldn't know but I'm willing
to try it well, no, I mean, I'mwilling to try the real american

(15:25):
beer.
I just don't.
I prefer liquor over beer.
I've never been a beer drinker.
That just kind of makes me andI know you're probably opposite
let me tell you a story aboutthat.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
You sound just like boogeyman.
One night here, boogeyman, wewas in the hotel in Seattle, I
think it was, and so I bought a12-pack.
That's when I was drinking beer.
I ain't had a beer in 15 years.
Anyway, I bought a 12-pack andso I look at Boogie and I said
to him you cool and everything,so I got me a beer.

(15:54):
So he's telling me now, lookingat me, saying well, I don't
think I want to drink onetonight, but he's just popped
the cap on it.
Boogie will tell you that story.
He takes the cap and pop it andhe's saying no, I don't think I
want to drink one tonight.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
And next thing, I know he's drinking it Now see,
michael Steele agrees with meLiquor's quicker.
This beer makes my stomach feellike it's just like you know
you're just swelling up.
I hate that feeling.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Well, it'll bloat you now.
It'll definitely bloat you.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Oh God, yes, let's see.
All right, we do need to popaway here just for a quick
second, because it is gettingtime here, teddy, for us to
check inside the mailbag and seewhat questions we have from
some of the listeners.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Letters oh, we get letters.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
We get your letters every day, mailman, mailman.
Mail today Reach right in andpull one out.
Oh letters, I love thoseletters.
Let's find out what you've gotto say.
Mail Today Reach right in andpull one out those letters.
I love those letters.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Let's find out what you've got to say.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Oh boy, mailman Mail Today.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Okay, teddy, we have Kendra in South Carolina is
asking who do you believe was oris the most overrated wrestler
in your opinion?
Cena, john Cena?
Yeah, you know, I think you andI might really agree when it
comes to that.
And that's no offense to JohnCena, I know a lot of people

(17:38):
love John.
It's just that my taste andJohn's work is just not.
It's just they don't meshtogether.
And that's the same with a lotof people.
We all have different flavors.
All right, let's see Nick in StPete what irritates you the
most about today's wrestling?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Well, nothing really irritates me.
You know, I see a lot of things.
Like I said, I don't watch awhole lot and so I see a few
things.
You know, like I said, Iunderstand that times are
different, times have changedand so you have to change with
the times.
So I've agreed to change withthe times.
I'm not like some of the otherguys, the old schoolers that
just refuse to help somebody.

(18:16):
They don't like then they don'tlike, then they don't want to
use them and all that you know, all that old school shit.
So my thing is this I, I just,you know, I, I, it's just hard
to come in it.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
All right, uh, one of the let me.
Let me kind of rework it then.
How about this?
What would you like to seeadded or paid more attention to
in today's wrestling?
Something that you would liketo see personally.
It doesn't mean it's right orwrong, just something personally
you'd like to see added.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
It's really nothing I'd like to see Really.
Okay, man, I've been doing this, I've been in this over 40
years.
I wouldn't say I've seen it allokay, but golly, man, is this
really nothing I'd really liketo see?
I think, like I said to me, Ithink WWE is doing a great job.
They're doing a lot of goodstuff with a lot of good people.
Like you said, they may, youknow, you may want to rush
things, but they know whatthey're doing.

(19:04):
They're taking their timebecause they have to change with
the times too.
So, like I said, I don't thinkthere's nothing need to be
changed in WWE.
The other guys over there Idon't watch them.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Let's see Tony in Tennessee.
Let's see Tony in Tennessee.
Oh, by the way, if you want tojoin in the conversation, you
can.
These letters are coming fromus earlier in the week, so these
are why I'm popping these out.
If you'd like to join in on theshow, all you have to do is
leave a comment and we'll takethem and put them up on the line
while we're still here.
We still have about another 10minutes to go before we run out
of time.
Tony in Tennessee, did you everwitness any real backstage

(19:40):
fights, and what was the worstone you may have seen?

Speaker 3 (19:45):
ah, the worst one I may have seen.
Well, it wasn't really worse.
Well, yeah, yeah, I forgot.
I forgot about this one.
This was, well, the first one.
This is old school.
I remember one time I was a realfriend.
I was working with steve dr devwilliams and road warrior hawk.
God rest their souls.
And so I think hawk uh, hit Docreal hard in the ring or
something you know doing the mat.
So Doc looks over at me and hesays to me no, he grabs me and

(20:08):
he takes me and he puts me inthe corner and he tells me you
stay right there, don't you move.
The next thing I know is him andHawk are just beating the hell
out of each other, bro.
I mean real fight.
The hell out of each other, bro, I mean real fight, I mean
unreal.
Finally they get.
They got to break that up.
And so, you know, we thinkingthat everything is good.
You know what I mean?
No, soon, as they got out of thering, both of them went to this

(20:29):
room and they found this.
They went to the room and theysaw that this room was open.
They went in that room.
Both of them locked the doorwhere nobody could get in and
they started beating the hellout of each other again, locked
the door where nobody could getin and they started beating the
hell out of each other again.
Now, the next one I saw was thematch between Eddie Guerrero
God rest his soul and Kurt Angle.
Something happened in the ringon the live TV and they didn't

(20:51):
do it out there.
It almost happened, but theywere professional.
They held back until they gotback when the match was over and
they come through Guerrilla.
That's when they really had thereal fight.
They started fighting.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Well, we just get a lot of people just break it up
or they just let them fight.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Well, you know, no, they, they, they broke it up.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
But you know, when two guys get discovered like
that man you got to watchbreaking it up or you could get
hit or hurt some kind playingaround.
Yeah, because I you know, wayback when you, like you said,
two guys went into a room andyou worked out your differences
and you came back out there wasnobody suing anybody or anything
else.
It was men taking care ofbusiness and without having to

(21:29):
involve anybody else.
Uh, and nowadays is completelydifferent.
Uh, let's see what else we havesamuel from.
Were you ever a boxing fan?

Speaker 3 (21:45):
And do you believe it's a work like wrestling?
In the beginning I didn't thinkit was a work, but now I
believe it's a work.
And the reason I believe it's awork now?
Because they're looking at whyin the hell are we beating the
hell out of each other whenthese guys over here in the
wrestling they're just you, justyou know, working, doing
everything.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
They can and still selling out arenas.
Yep, yeah, there was a timewhen I used to watch boxing uh
on uh was it saturday nightfights or tuesday night fights,
whatever it was on usa, uh, andI used to watch that religiously
.
I loved watching it, uh, whenit came on.
But there became a show and itwas in new york, as best I can
remember, and two guys werefighting and the guy who was uh,

(22:23):
uh whose hand got raised at theend of the fight was not the
one whose hand should have beenraised at the end of the night.
The fans came unglued.
It reminded me of the time that,uh, dusty roads, uh was being
attacked in the steel cage andeverybody was trying to get to
him uh in wrestling, and itseemed the same way when it came
to boxing.
And when I saw that I was like, nah, this is, this is just not

(22:47):
the sport that I thought it was.
They're working it.
Yep, all right, uh, we got timefor one more here.
Especially and I want to get tothat in just a second I do want
to mention, teddy, that you andI will be in St Louis in May
16th and May 17th, along withBill After and for more
information about that.
Watch this and then, when wecome back, we're going to ask

(23:09):
Teddy name association Hangtight.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
S-I-C-W.
Fan Fest 3 is almost here.
Meet your favorite wrestlingsuperstars.

(23:35):
Don't wait.
Make plans May 16th and 17th atthe Hilton St Louis Airport.
Sicw Fan Fest 3.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
It's going to be a lot of fun.
A lot of fun there, Teddy, inSt Louis.
I'm looking forward to that Iknow you are as well and
especially because you'regetting a very special award
that night.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah, thanks to Herb Simmons, Nick Rittenaer and
everybody else that's associatedwith SICW, they're giving me
the Lifetime Achievement Award, and I just want to thank them
for everything.
Thank you, Herb Nick, Thank youall very much.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
All right, let's see what we got here Scott Gillespie
popping back in.
Whatever happened with LaceyVon Erich buying SWE?
Why did it go away?
We fans never got an answer.
A little bit about that teddyfor those who don't know what
swe was lacy von eric destroyedswe.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Okay, that's why they haven't told you about that.
There was no, nothing.
She had no money to even buyswe.
What happened is the guy thatwas running SWE.
You know he's older guy so he'skind of in love with the
younger girl.
So Lacey was smart, she knewhow to use what she had.
So she come in and startflancing around and, you know,

(24:54):
showing this and that.
And the next thing I know, herecomes Tom Lance, the guy that
was running the thing.
Well, lacey is going to be ourbrand new president.
Do you have a meeting?
Do you sit down?
Do you talk to the talent?
Do you tell anybody what'sgoing on?
Just out of the blue, she's thepresident of the company.
So, and it was, you know, to me,you know it was certainly, you

(25:17):
know, just real disrespectful.
So that night, that that, thatwas the night I walked out and
and we're going to get thingsgoing back there too.
I want to let everybody knowthat, too, had a chance to talk
to randy klein.
He's a promoter there withtexas style wrestling.
He was the one that one of thepromoters of sw e, but randy
didn't worry about it.
Randy put it in the hands ofother people and thought that
they were going to do the rightthing.

(25:38):
Well, they didn't do the rightthing.
They screwed up all the money,so what?
But I think they're gettingback on board now.
They're gonna, you know, startwell they.
Well, they're running now inTexas.
But I think they're going toget a big TV deal and they're
going to try to get this thingback to going.
But Lazy Von Eric destroyed itthe night.
They said that she was thepresident.
That's when I went to thelocker room and I told them I'm
out, I'm done, guys.

(25:59):
And several of the talentfollowed me.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
And you know the sad thing is, teddy, I was able to
see several of those shows.
I was there and did a littlebit of work behind the scenes
and that company was absolutelyincredible.
It had a following, unlike alot of independents.
This show was getting extremelyhot and then for everything
just to go like that was reallyfantastic.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
I went in there.
When I went over there theywere drawing maybe 20, 30 people
, maybe 30, 50 people.
I stayed there for three months, OK, in charge of creative and
running a show.
In three months time we were upto 1500 people.
Then we started really going.
After I put some stories inthere, Then we started really
going.
We were selling out.
One night we was in Canton,Texas.

(26:47):
I never forget it.
We had to sit out and buychairs.
We didn't even have enoughchairs.
I was sitting at my merch tableand I'm telling you this.
This was really.
I pay attention to things.
There was a guy walked up to meand he says teddy long.
He says I haven't been towrestling in 20 years.
He said but I was watching youguys on tv there and god it
looks so I thought I better getout here and see it.

(27:07):
Now.
That's what it got to.
He ain't been out in 20 years,so he must've been doing
something right.
We got him out, but there'slike some people, they can't
stand success.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
No, and it was unfortunate because, like I said
, it was an extremely goodpromotion when I was there and
visiting at the time.
Bryce Bordeaux, popping inwhat's happening, teddy and Mac.
Hey, bryce, good to hear fromyou.
Teddy, did you ever receive theovertime for doing the voice
readings for the JBL and Coleshow?
Also, what did you think of thewhole JBL and Cody Rhodes duel?

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Well, first of all, I didn't know anything about this
JBL and Cole show or something.
I never read the show.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
I'm not sure what that duel is either.
And, bryce, you may have tokind of enlighten us a little
bit if you're still in the roomright now, because I'm not sure
what that is.
But did you ever get yourovertime pay for the readings of
the JBL and Cole show?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
No, I don't even know anything about it.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
He has no idea.
I'm sorry, bryce, let's see.
Well, I don't, I don't I.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
I well if they owe me .
Thanks a lot for letting meknow.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Bryce Scott.
Let's be uh, uh, saying thanksfor the explanation.
Uh, there were some great showswith Teddy there.
It really uh, when you gotTeddy in there in the back and
he's handling the storylines, you know you're going to get
something interesting.
Teddy, uh, we're out of timehere.
Who do you want to choose?
Uh, this week?
Uh, uh for the uh road tripafter hours?

(28:35):
T-shirt?

Speaker 3 (28:38):
oh god, this is a hard one.
Uh, I think the person that uhuh asked me about the whatever
happened to SWE and cause theynever got any answers, so I
think I'll choose that one.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
And that would be Mr Scott Gillespie and Scott.
I actually know Scott.
He's over in Texas so I knowthat actually that's where I met
him.
Actually Was that?

Speaker 3 (28:59):
the.
I'm pretty sure I know whoScott is, yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
So, scott, and watching tonight, everybody
who's been with this man, wecertainly appreciate it.
Let's see we do have a couplemore things.
Let me see what we got.
We got Zach Smith Burton.
What is one of the aspects oftoday's wrestling that has
improved since your timestarting in the business, teddy?

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Well, I would say social media, the internet, that
has really been the thing.
That's really been a bigimprovement.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Do you think, though, that it also has harmed the
business a little bit?

Speaker 3 (29:35):
No, I don't think so.
You know you don't have yourhaters.
You know what I mean.
So I think it's the best thingthat could have happened to the
business.
Now you know you can getyourself out there a little bit
more.
You know people can get achance to see you and know who
you are.
Yeah, and not have to just waiton saturday nights to watch you
on tv all right, teddy.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Uh, anything coming up for you you want to talk
about before we get out of here?

Speaker 3 (29:56):
no, I'm good man, everything's good with me.
I'm just gonna be at homerelaxing me and mr rufus, and uh
, that's about it I hear you.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I'm not going to do much more either myself.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
That's another thing you know with the other company
over there.
See, they don't like me becauseI'm not calling begging for a
job.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
I want to tell you something just real quick.
I meant to tell you this on thephone before we even got on the
show.
I went out and I got some socks, just normal socks.
I put them on my feet.
This is and I'm not making thisup this is absolutely true.
I looked down at the toes ofthe socks after I put them on
and I noticed that they had thisweird looking thing on the toes

(30:38):
.
So I look at it closer and Irealized one is an L, the letter
L, and the other one is theletter R.
Left and right.
Teddy, have you ever had tochoose which sock was the left
one and which one was the rightone?
Since when do we have to betold what sock?

Speaker 3 (30:58):
goes on what foot?
Well, I think they helped you alot.
You really need that help.
I think it's really good foryou.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
I think this blew my mind.
I'm thinking what do these poorpeople do?
They go out and if they gettheir socks messed up, they'll
put on two right feet and thenyou're walking in a circle the
rest of the day.
That's all you get to do.
So, anyhow, it's just somethingI thought I saw when I put them
on.
I was like this has got to bethe most asinine thing I've ever
seen to, where you have to putleft and right on a sock.
So you know what foot it goeson, teddy, and I will see you

(31:27):
next week.
Teddy, I've enjoyed.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
All right, see y'all, let's do this.
