Ever wonder what it's really like working with Stephanie McMahon? Wrestling legend Teddy Long drops the ultimate insider advice: "Always be on time and get ready for the unexpected." This nugget of wisdom comes during a fascinating discussion about Devon Dudley's recent clarification of his "infatuation" comments about the Billion Dollar Princess.

Mac Davis and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long dive deep into the wrestling world's hottest topics, including John Cena's final match announcement for December's Saturday Night's Main Event in Boston. "There's no story," Teddy observes about Cena's farewell tour, highlighting how WWE has "flip-flopped so much" with their legendary superstar's booking. The conversation reveals both hosts' concerns about the lack of compelling narrative leading to this milestone moment.

The show's mailbag segment unveils some incredible behind-the-scenes stories, with Teddy sharing memories of filming segments outside traditional arenas - including kidnapping Ric Flair on Lake Lanier and using Flair's boat for storylines. These rare glimpses behind the curtain demonstrate how wrestling's most memorable moments often happen away from the ring.

Perhaps the most revealing segment comes during a rapid-fire "Pick One" game, where Teddy must choose between iconic wrestling figures. When selecting Vince McMahon over Triple H, Teddy explains, "Vince certainly was the one that really brought me out there. He's really responsible for me being where I am today." This candid moment exemplifies the authentic, unfiltered perspective that makes this podcast essential listening for wrestling fans.

The hosts close with exciting news about their upcoming appearances at Dragon Con in Atlanta, promising potential live broadcasts from the event. Subscribe now, join our weekly chat every Thursday at 7 PM Eastern, and you might just win free merchandise like our Road Trip After Hours t-shirt!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's do this.
Look here, it's just after 7o'clock Eastern Time.
I'm your host, Mac Davis, andwith me every single week is
none other than WWE Hall ofFamer, Mr Teddy Long.

(00:22):
Hey, Teddy, how you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, after watching that opening, I believe I'm in
space or somewhere.
You sure we're on Earth here.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, somebody told me one time that if you watch
some of the stuff he talks abouthacking your computer.
So, anyhow, teddy, there's alot going on.
But I can tell you something.
You know my wife because mywife, she gets on me about, you
know checking on you and sayinghow's Teddy doing?
Is he, you know?
And you'll say tell her helloand stuff.
And I got in trouble because Ididn't pass a message along like

(00:53):
I should have.
She ends up out of nowhere.
Just the other day, teddy, shesays let me ask you a question.
Yeah, what, who do you want toget what when you're dead?

(01:15):
And I'm looking at her, teddy, you know she's a sweet Southern
girl and she meant every bit ofit and I'm looking at her like,
like what did you just ask me?
Well, I mean, like, you know, when you die, do you want, uh,
you know, this daughter to getthis and that son to get that?
And uh, where the hell is thisconversation coming from?

(01:36):
I'm sitting here thinking am Idying?
Is there something you haven'ttold me yet?
It's just how her mind works.
But, god knows, I think she'shad me in the ground already.
I think she's even got a coupleof things that she wants to
make sure I will over to you.
I mean, what the hell you thinkI'm going before Teddy too, huh
.
I see how it is I don't wantthem.
Yeah, I don't want them.

(01:57):
We don't want trash, honey.
We're trying to get rid of thetrash we got already had already
.
All right, let's talk aboutsomething.
Uh, this is going to be alittle bit fun because, uh,
devon and uh he got himself in alittle bit of trouble about
four years ago when he made acomment about stephanie mcmahon
and for those of you who may nothave heard about this, that we

(02:18):
talked about on one of thesports keto shows.
Um devon said this four yearsago regarding Stephanie McMahon
Quote I would have loved to havedated Stephanie McMahon.
I'm infatuated with Stephanie.
I think she's beautiful insideand out and as funny,
charismatic.
She's everything that I wouldthink that a woman should be.

(02:40):
Now he clarified just recentlywhat he meant four years ago and
he said this Quote.
The wording was messed upduring that time and instead of
saying I admired, I said I wasinfatuated with her.
And, of course, infatuation andadmire are two different
meanings, two differentdefinitions.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Same.
Thing.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
But again he says it was one of those things where I
was talking and not reallypaying attention to what I was
saying and I used the wordinfatuated.
But let me ask you something, teddy, even if he did say
infatuated and that's what hemeant, there was a group of men
now who remember stephaniemcmahon for that very I mean,

(03:23):
she was something else when shehit the screen.
She wasn't just a pretty face, she was a bitch too, and she
could play her role to a T.
Is there something withStephanie McMahon working with
her that you ever learned fromher?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
I learned to always, when Stephanie is working with
you, make sure you're always ontime and get ready for the
unexpected.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah, I would imagine , because look here, triple H
didn't go after StephanieMcMahon because she was ugly.
You know he was infatuated too.
She just, she just has thatabout her.
We mention this all the timetoo.
Teddy, Some people just havethat it factor.
They can hit the screen.
Then when the light comes on,man, they control the camera.
They just something about themcontrols the camera.

(04:10):
Even Chelsea Green in WWE rightnow.
She may not be the bestwrestler on the roster, but the
camera loves Chelsea Green Forwhatever reason.
She has that.
It about her that we often talkabout different people Also.
Let's see Cena's last match Iwe often talk about with
different people Also.
Let's see Cena's last match.
I want to talk about this.
We find out that it will be inDecember of this year.

(04:31):
It's going to be Saturdaynight's main event and it's not
a large pay-per-view.
This is just Saturday night'smain event as his last hurrah.
Now, considering the venue thatit's going to be in Boston, I
believe, teddy, and the showbeing Saturday night's main
event, it sounds like and feelslike this may be a feel-good

(04:54):
moment and not him going out, with him staring at the lights.
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Well, I don't know.
They've just flip-flopped somuch on this thing.
You know what I mean, so youjust don't really know what to
believe, so I'm just going toleave it at.
I'll wait and just see whathappens with Cena.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, you know they keep bringing up all these
people who he should be facingas the final opponent.
I don't know, because the waythey have had him booked he
bounces around from person toperson to person to person, that
there's not any real rivalrythat you see in between.
That's being built to thatfinal match.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Well, there's no story.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
There's no story other than he was a heel and now
he's a face and he's justtrying to go on.
There needs to be a little bitmore and he's running out of
time because December's going tobe here before you know it.
It comes a lot faster than youcan believe.
Look here we do have to stepaway for just a minute and we're
going to come right back inwith letters, so we're going to

(05:52):
go inside the mail bag.
We'll also take your questions.
All you have to do is leave usa chat comment down below.
It doesn't cost you anything,as a matter of fact.
It's free, absolutely free.
All you got to do is just leavea question.
We'll throw it up on the screen.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
You don't have to buy Super Chats and we're going to
do all that next, with ListenerMail Every day, mailman, mailman
mail.
Today, reach right in and pullone out those letters.

(06:30):
I love those letters.
Let's find out what you've gotto say oh boy.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Mailman mail today Boom boom, boom boom.
All right, let's see our firstquestion tonight.
Teddy comes from Burrell inOshkosh.
Any memories of wrestling whereyou went outside the studios to

(06:59):
film something?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, well, yeah thing uh, yeah, yeah, well, yeah
uh.
Well, you know, back in the daywe uh did the deal where uh, uh
, we uh kidnapped uh flair butchand run.
Yeah, we kidnapped him.
We did uh deal where we was onlake lanier so we had to go
there and then we got on flair'sboat.
I think I won his boat and allthat stuff.
So we got on the boat to filmsome stuff.

(07:23):
And then we did another dealwhere I was his chauffeur.
I was supposed to have beentaking him someplace but I
detoured and I took him rightwhere Ron at Butch was.
So they got him there.
So, yeah, a lot of good stuffthat we did outside of the you
know from the arena.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
You know one of the moments I remember you could not
do this today.
I don't believe in an involvedJBL, but he supposedly went to
the border and he was kicking, you know, mexicans from one side
of the border to the otherbecause he was out there trying
to get rid of them as part ofhis heel character.
And I remember seeing that andthinking, oh my God, I mean

(08:03):
those things to me.
And we talk about this, teddy,on another show that I do.
There's small elements thatdon't seem like much when you
leave the building, but they'reusually the memories people have
about those moments.
In wrestling it's not what'shappening in the ring all the
time, it's what led to whathappened in the ring.
Would you agree with that?

(08:25):
Yes, absolutely, all right.
Let's see.
A pretty classy lady is in herewith us tonight.
She was saying the intro wasfunny and with a laughing face
there, teddy.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
So she's probably on the same medication you're on.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Zach Winger.
Hey, Zach, Good to see you inhere.
Happy good old Burger Day,pretty glassy lady.
And let's see what did she say.
She's right back in here.
Where's my boy, Rufus?
Where is Rufus?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Dennis Rufus is around.
Yeah, he's at, rufus.
He may come see me, I don'tknow, but he's here.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, he's bigger than Teddy.
Now, you don't want to messwith Teddy without Rufus's
approval.
Trust me, let's see we do haveSteve Morris.
Hey, steve, hey fellows, havey'all heard anything about Taz?
Haven't seen him.
You know that's a good question.
I thought I heard the other day, teddy, maybe you've heard

(09:22):
something, but I thought I hearda rumor that maybe he was back
in WWE or going back to WWE.
But yeah, he hasn't been onrecent AEW programming and so I
don't really know how about you, teddy?
Have you heard anything?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Haven't heard anything at all.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yeah, did he have loss for?
Aewew?
Taz fits that commentary teamvery well, he's him.
And, um, I'm trying to rememberwhat the guy's name that wears
the mask, but uh, he's also anannouncer.
I think he does a great job.
People giving crap all the time, but the announcer, I think.
Oh, I wish I could remember hisname.
Hey guys, if you remember thethe announcer's name, aew, throw
it up on the screen.
It's going to drive me nutshere.
All right, let's see Yorkie inBiloxi.
What are your thoughts, teddy,on WWE Unreal.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well, you know, I really don't have really much to
say about that.
I mean, you know, our businesswas exposed uh many, many years
ago.
Uh, I remember, you know, watching, especially at
Wrestlemania's.
There were so many peoplebackstage at Wrestlemania,
people you'd never seen before, and just you don't, you don't
know who they are, where theycome from, so you know, and then

(10:37):
they're back there and thenguys are walking around talking
with each other too andeverything there.
So, like I said, I guess it wasjust a matter of time for them
to you know, kind of.
You know, maybe I don't thinkthey put it all out there, but I
mean it's pretty close.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
I think that they let you see what they wanted you to
see, and maybe even cut andedited those things to make it
even more interesting for you tosee.
I think everything that we gotto see was meant for us to see.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
And there's still a case game involved.
Yes, like I said, I'm prettysure that we didn't see it all.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Oh yeah, they're only going to show you what they
want you to see.
That's all you're ever going tosee.
We see Tony Hunter in the roomhere.
Hey, tony, good to see you.
Says what's up crowbars.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Oh, wow, call us crowbars.
Wow, tony Hunter, the nerve ofyou, let's see.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Steve Moore said yes, Excalibur is the name of the
guy that wears the hoodAnnouncing for AEW.
I think he's very good.
I really do.
I thought that from the get-gothat he called a lot of crap
that he never should have.
He was just different sounding, and that's important when you
have another company because youwant to sound different than
the other one.
All right, Amelia on X.

(11:51):
By the way, you want to be apart of the show?
Just drop us a comment in thecomment section.
We'll throw it up on the screenand I'll discuss it right here
on the show.
You don't have to buy superstickers.
It's free, that's nice.
All right, Amelia on X.
This is going to be interesting.
I don't think we've ever donethis.
Teddy, it's called Pick One.
Now I'm going to give you twonames or items or something.

(12:12):
You can only choose one, Okay.
Okay, All right, here we go.
First one Easy Hot dog orhamburger.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Hamburger.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Dunkin'.
I know the answer to this oneDunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Krispy Kreme.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Yeah, I've seen you buy those Krispy Kremes.
He went into the place one timeand swore he didn't buy a dozen
of them and go back to his roomand eat them all.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Oh no, you're the one that had all those donuts.
Don't put that on me.
I didn't take that back.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
We go into a Krispy Kreme.
Where are we?
We're in St Louis, I think acouple years ago, yeah, yeah.
And we walked in and boy theyjust.
Oh, teddy Long was in theKrispy Kreme man.
They couldn't help themselvescome over and give him all these
donuts.
And the next morning, tony Imean poor Teddy's coming back
out of his room getting ready togo to the floor for the

(13:01):
convention and he just looksbloated from all those donuts he
ate.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
No, I was not.
No, I was not.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
He hit him and had glaze all around his face right
at the beginning.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
I took those donuts and gave them to the crew.
When I got there all those guyshad been working on the ring
and stuff.
I gave that box to them.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Yeah, tell them that story.
I'm sure they believe everyword.
You're saying yeah, all right, here we go.
We've got more on here Steak orseafood seafood comedy.
Oh, this is going to getinteresting in a minute comedy
or action movie comedy alright, get ready.
Bobby the Brain Heenan or PaulHeyman.

(13:44):
Bobby the Brain alright, here'sthe one.
Hopefully you can answer this.
You say you'll answer anything.
Well, you don't have to answerthe answer, and here we go.
Last one, this is a big one, toPaul Levesque or Vince McMahon,
vince.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
McMahon.

Speaker 1 (14:05):
Now I would stop and ask you all these why you chose
this.
But let me ask you, when itcomes to Paul Levesque and Vince
McMahon, why would you chooseVince over Paul?

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well, because Vince certainly was the one that
really brought me out there.
He's really responsible for mebeing where I am today, and
Vince was the only somebody thatwas part of that.
So that's why.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
All right.
What about the—I knew theDunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme.
I knew that right off theget-go.
In fact, the steak or seafoodI've eaten with you enough that
you would probably chooseseafood over beef, because
you're more of a sushi guyanyhow.
Is that really one of yourfavorite foods, sushi?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, yeah, I really like that man.
They got a place up in Manning, south Carolina I forget the
name over there, but Deniseintroduced me to it and they got
a thing called the Pokemon Bowlor something like that.
God, is that thing delicious,it is great.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah, I know that I have never tried.
There are two foods that Ireally have never tried until I
traveled with Teddy, and one ofthem was the sushi.
I've never had sushi.
I was always like that justsounds awful.
You know, just raw fish.
I don't get the appeal of that.
It was actually good when I'vehad it.
When it comes to sushi and theother food that I don't often

(15:25):
get and probably never wouldhave in my life was Indian and
Teddy and I, on a ThanksgivingEve or Thanksgiving day one or
the other, we're on the roadsomewhere and the only place
that was open was that damnIndian restaurant and I couldn't
eat the food.
It was so hot to me but youenjoyed every bit of it.
I didn't have what you had.

(15:47):
Oh, I can't even remember whatit was.
I knew when it came out to thetable it looked red, so I knew
there was going to be an issue.
Oh God, all right, so let's see.
That's all I got as far as theemails go.
So if you've got some questions, throw them up in the room
right here and we'll throw themup on the screen as well.
Teddy, we've got somethingcoming up too that you and I we

(16:08):
weren't planning on this, butDragon Con is coming to Atlanta
next weekend and you're going tobe there as a part of Dragon
Con, and I found out justyesterday or the day before that
I'll be going to Dragon Con forsomething completely different,
for a filming that I got to do.
So you and I get to gettogether at least for maybe an
hour or two, or maybe even afull day on Friday.

(16:28):
I think that's when I'll beshooting.
So it'll be on Friday when I'llsee you.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Okay, well, I know I'm there Thursday from 7 until
10.
Friday I don't have a schedule,I know.
Then there's a Sunday thing.
I'm on a panel there Sunday, starting at 10 am Sunday morning
, and then I'm somewhere else.
I don't know.
When I get the schedule, I'llget it out there, but Dragon Con

(16:56):
also has it out there onFacebook too.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, this is a huge event, this thing I don't know
how many years that this hasbeen going on in Atlanta.
I remember hearing about ityears ago when they first
started, because there was awrestling group out of
Swainsboro that had some of thewrestling matches that were
being held up in Atlanta forpart of Dragon Con, because they
always had, I guess, awrestling connection from the

(17:22):
very first year and wrestlingbeing part of it, and so I've
known about it for a long time, but it was never as big as it is
now.
This thing has gotten huge.
I mean major names in comic ifyou're a big fan of Marvel or DC
and some of the multiversestuff that they have on TV, on
CW and all these other channelsthe stars of these shows a lot

(17:45):
of them are going to be therefor this event, along with Teddy
being there at the wrestlingside of things.
So it's a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Make sure you stop by and see all the events and also
I'll be there signingautographs and stuff too, so you
can come by and get that too.
So I don't know where I'm goingto be at yet, but there's
certain places they put you.
I'm pretty sure the people willknow.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
Let's see pretty classy lady saying okay, now
she's got me really curious asto who we're speaking with here.
Mac, are you going to theDublin farmer's market?
I don't know, probably not.
I got it for the next two weeks, teddy, and I feel kind of lost
.
Even today.
I got so much on my plate I'mhoping I can juggle it all.
You ever get that way.

(18:28):
Have you ever been that waywhere you feel like you may have
too much on your plate?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Well, I have you know some years back, but not now.
My life is so easy and, ohbrother, I'm so comfortable and
relaxed every day, thank God.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
I'm very happy for being busy and having
opportunities, and I'm the typethat you know, I'm always
willing to try something I'venever done before, which is what
I'm doing right now on the sidethat we'll talk more about as
we get into it, but for me it'sjust.
I don't want to sit back.
If I stop learning, then Istart, I stop growing.
I mean, I stop growing, I stopliving.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, well, like I said, I just I still stay busy,
but I stay as busy as I want tobe.
You know, I work.
I work for me.
That's the good part about that.
If something I don't want to do, I can say no.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Let's see Scott Lance popping in here.
Hey, mac and Teddy, how fun wasit to get to fire Vicky
Guerrero Mac.
What's your favorite GIWAmoment?
Teddy?
You first Vicky.
How was that?

Speaker 2 (19:31):
It was great.
It was that.
Well, you know, it was great.
It was a lot of fun becauseVicki Guerrero certainly had a
lot of heat.
People hated her.
So to be able to fire, I knowthat's what the people really
wanted.
So you know, I also kind of didthat for my own entertainment
too, but that was great.
But Vicki, just such asweetheart man, you know I loved

(19:52):
working with her.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
I don't know how she'd get that voice.
I mean, there's only so manytimes you can say shut up, like
she did.
I kept thinking sooner or latershe's going to crack in the
middle of one of those shut upsand never be able to speak again
.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
She'd never say shut up, it's excuse me.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Excuse me, I'm sorry.
What are you on?
Don't know, scott.
By the way, my favorite he'stalking in GIWA.
That was an independentfederation that I worked in in
Georgia here.
My favorite moment, scott youknow as well as I do, because
you were a referee, that therewere a lot of those moments that
I can talk about.

(20:26):
When Firewalker, my tag teampartner at the time, and myself
won the tag team championshipsfrom the heel faction, the KI
and KI Elite, that was themoment I think that I really
remember the most.
It was just one of thosemoments.
Everything came together and itwas a perfect pop.
At the very end, everybody wenthome happy.
You can't beat those things.

(20:47):
All right, teddy, we've got topick somebody from this group
tonight for the questions andgive them a free T-shirt.
Who's?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
that going to be Well , I believe the gentleman, god,
I have to go back to it.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Let's see, we had the Devon.
No, no, that's not one of thequestions.
One question was went outsidethe studios to film something.
He had Yorkie, who thought itwas unreal.
Let's see Amelia, who wasgiving you the pick ones, and
then that sent me a t-shirt.

(21:23):
Okay, amelia, let me get her outhere.
There we go.
Okay, amelia, on X.
I got her information too, because she sent that with this.
All right, amelia,congratulations, you got
yourself a t-shirt Road TripAfter Hours T-shirt.
By the way, shoot me a messageand just let me know what size
is good for you, and if you'lldo that, we'll get it out the
mail right away.
Teddy, I've enjoyed this.

(21:44):
My friend, I'm looking forwardto next week to get to see you
in person.
I don't know what that meansfor this show, really, because
I'm not exactly sure.
My travel on Thursday that'sgot to kind of up in the air
right now.
So, teddy and I will figuresomething out, you know, for
next week for this show, if it'snot at the same day and same
time.
Just keep watching my Facebook.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
I have to go down.
I have to go down Thursday too,and I have to go down around 5
pm, so we're already down there.
So once they let me know whereI'm at, you know where we find
out, then maybe we can just golive from there somewhere.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, which I think would be a lot of fun to give
you guys a kind of feel for thebackground, because these
Comic-Cons, I'm telling youpeople dress up in some of these
crazy outfits.
I've seen Teddy Long, as amatter of fact, at one of these
Comic-Cons, riding around in aBatmobile, I remember you
sending me a message about youwere live streaming through
parts of it.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
That was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
That's where that was.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Yeah, man, they spent some money on the props and
costumes that they wear at theseevents.
They're really something to seeand maybe, if we can set up
correctly, you'll get a littleflavor of that next week from
Comic-Con.
Anyhow, hey guys, we appreciateyou joining us this week and,
if you will pass this around, let everybody know that we do
this every Thursday night, as wecan, at 7 o'clock Eastern

(23:05):
Standard Time, and all you haveto do is just subscribe share.
We certainly would appreciateit.
And you have to do is justsubscribe share.
We certainly would appreciateit.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
And what other show gives you a free t-shirt when
you watch?
And we're also, you know, we'regoing to start giving away some
