WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and host Mac Davis dive into the jaw-dropping economics of modern wrestling fandom, where WrestleMania week experiences now include $8,500 Hall of Fame packages and $25,000 lunches with John Cena. Though staggering, Teddy acknowledges "there's going to be somebody who's going to pay this," reflecting wrestling's transformation into premium entertainment.

The conversation takes a serious turn examining the limits of on-screen violence after Jon Moxley was impaled by nails during a recent AEW match. Teddy expresses concern about extreme content on accessible television channels, noting "we have to be careful" with violence that might influence young viewers: "Let's don't add fuel to the fire."

Pulling back the curtain on WWE's corporate culture, Teddy recounts his unforgettable "come-to-Jesus meeting" with Vince McMahon after ad-libbing during a Randy Orton introduction. When Vince asked, "You in business with yourself out there?" Teddy learned a permanent lesson about McMahon's no-nonsense approach to his billion-dollar operation. These stories paint a vivid picture of an intimidating workplace where many were "terrified" to approach the boss.

From his days as Ric Flair's chauffeur to an outrageous story involving Randy Savage and an unfortunate drug dealer, Teddy's unfiltered tales provide rare glimpses into wrestling's colorful past. The episode closes with discussion of wrestling's greatest managers and why the tag team Doom deserves WWE Hall of Fame recognition.

Join Teddy Long and Mac Davis at SICW Fan Fest 3 in St. Louis on May 16-17th. Visit SICW.org to learn more about meeting your favorite wrestling legends in person!

later in the show.
But first I want to get pastsome kind of recent news here in

(01:04):
the wrestling first, teddy, andthat being that the Hall of
Fame ticket prices for WWE.

No, I haven't.

on-site support staff all forthe low, low price of $8,500.

(01:56):
Teddy.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Teddy, hey, man, I imagine that they're making this
kind of money if they're ableto ask for it.
And I guarantee you, man, thereare going to be some people
that are going to pay this.
I don't care what you say, there's somebody that's going to
pay this.
So that's Jesus Christ.
Eight grand, oh my.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
God, almost nine grand.
It probably be nine to 10,000before you get out of there,
because you've got to pay forfood, you've got to pay for a
hotel.
That's a big package.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
And you've got to pay for yourself to play yourself
there.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Yeah, yeah, now get this.
That's not the only bad one.
Here's another one.
It just came out yesterday, Ibelieve it was.
John Cena is going to receive aLifetime Achievement Award
during WrestleMania Week in LasVegas.
To celebrate On Location isoffering an exclusive
opportunity A $25,000 per personlunch with John Cena at a

(03:00):
five-star restaurant on the LasVegas Strip $25,000.
Teddy, something's wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Why would you give somebody the Lifetime
Achievement Award and you justturn them ill?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Well, yeah, that's another good question too, but I
mean, let's talk about themoney.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Well, teddy, this is becoming something I take it
back.
This is entertainment now, mybad.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, you remind me of that.
But you know, teddy, there doescome a point, as a fan, where
the pricing has become out ofreach for a lot of people.
You know true wrestling fanswho can't afford $25,000 to go
get a special occasion with JohnCena.
First of all, that amount ofmoney is absolutely ridiculous,

(03:47):
and so is the $8,500 for theHall of Fame special package.
But, as you mentioned, there'sgoing to be somebody who's going
to pay that amount.
Yeah, that's God, that justblows my mind Amen.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
God bless them, man.
That's all I can say.
You know what I mean.
They're doing good.
You know, business is on fire,so you better get it while you
can.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yep, let's see Cody Metcalf coming in saying, hey,
buddy.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, I know, cody.
Cody's a good friend of mine.
Man Been knowing him for quitesome time and he's always stayed
in touch with me.
He's always stayed in touchwith me, cody.
What's going on, player?

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Dave Ruby in here as well.
Long intros, overrated.
What about a?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
la holiday.
Well, thank you, dave, I reallyappreciate that.
You're exactly right.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, somebody told me when we set this up you've
got to have a little intro timelike that, because it builds
people into the room before youget started, Like okay, whatever
.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, well, they can tell you anything, you know how?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
you are.
Oh, you know how I am.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Right, you're the only guy I know that would try
and put a bag of M&Ms inalphabetical order.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Oh yeah, all right, I want to get you.
Just wait, just wait, it'scoming, just wait.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
It's coming.
It's coming, send that over toSportskeeda.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Oh God, love him.
Let's see.
I sent you a video earliertoday.
Did you get a chance to seethis with Jon Moxley?

Speaker 3 (05:16):
No, I didn't.
You know, I've been ripping andrunning all day, man.
I just did get here in time toget on the show, but I apologize
, but let's go do it day, man.
I just did get here in time toget on the show, but I apologize
, but let's go do it.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, look, john Moxley.
He had a match with AdamCopeland, or Cope, during last
night's Dynamite and during thematch Cope gave Moxley a
backdrop onto a like a 2x4 withnails coming out of it.
He actually, when he he hit,got impaled by these nails and

(05:51):
that when he sat up you couldsee him dug into his skin and
they had to twist it to helpremove it because the way it had
gone in.
It was a gruesome, gruesomesight.
Teddy, is there a point wherewe need to be careful of what we
are showing on TV?

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Well, yeah, I would have to say so.
And the other thing you know, these are two phenomenal
wrestlers.
Okay, I've worked with both ofthem.
These guys, they don't needthat.
I could see some of the guysyou know trying to, you know,
make a name for themselves ortrying to get themselves, you
know, build themselves a littlebit.
You know doing stuff like thatto get some attention.

(06:31):
But Jon Moxley and Cole, theydon't need no attention.
Man, these guys are phenomenalin the ring.
So you know it had to be theirdecision.
You know, I guess it's whatthey wanted to do.
I guess management doesn'tworry about whether the kids see
it as being violent or what.
So I just don't know what.
What to tell you, matt?

Speaker 2 (06:51):
hi, it's just so strange to me.
I don't mind the hardcore and,if I'm being completely honest,
when I was in the independence,a lot of my matches were matches
that revolved around having toa lot of times have some juice
or, you know, go throughdifferent things.
I've been through flamingtables, I've been in cage
matches, I've had concreteblocks block you know okay, well
, now we know what.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
What's your condition ?

Speaker 2 (07:12):
now we know what's wrong yeah, so I mean, I I'm not
trying to put those kind ofmatches down, but I do think
there is a point.
When you're on, uh, still thethe tv networks like tBS or TNT,
I think you need to be aware ofthe fact that this is an access
channel that can be accessed bythe kids of a young age still,

(07:34):
and I think you need to becareful what we do and don't see
.
Does that make sense, teddy?

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah, it does make a lot of sense.
Yeah, we have to be careful, you know, because you know,
right now, with this age and era, you got these kids out here
already involved in nothing butviolence, guns and stuff.
You know what I mean.
So let's don't add, you know, fuel to the fire.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Dave Ruby asking do you feel death match style spots
are done for the heat of themoment pop or do you find some
way other to get over otherwise?

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Well, I mean, sometimes those things are
sometimes right at the heat ofthe moment.
You know, doing those matches, you know you might think of
something and you call it rightthere.
So they're just brutal and youjust got to be careful and just
try and protect yourself andprotect the guy that you're
working with, because they'rereally dangerous, especially
those nails and stuff.

(08:24):
Jesus, I think the only guy Iever seen do that was Sabu and
he brother.
You know him, he's a trooper,he went all out for it, man, and
so, like I said, it's.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, I mean, if you go back, even to the early days,
teddy, you think about how guyswould perform in their matches.
And when Juice got involved, you know, no matter what it is,
it was always kind of hardcorewhen it got to that point.
But back in those days if yousaw hardcore it wasn't on every
show, it was only on apay-per-view where you know

(08:59):
you're blowing off the story.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Well, you save that With something that spectacular.
You save it.
You don't put it on every show, like you were just saying.
You save it for yourpay-per-view, or you save it for
if it may be a blow-off match.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
You know you would do that All right, teddy, we're
going to step away real quickand then we're going to come
back and we're going to go tothe listener mail and take
anybody's question.
Else that's in the room.
If You're here, let everybodyelse know that we're here and
we're live right now.
We're going to take yourquestions and Teddy's favorite
question will receive a freeRoad Trip After Hours T-shirt.

(09:31):
And, by the way, you're alsogoing to find Teddy and I in St
Louis very soon.

Speaker 1 (09:36):

Speaker 1 (10:23):

Oh letters, I love thoseletters.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Let's find out what you've got to say.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Oh boy Mailman Mail today.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Okay, Teddy, here we go.
Our very first question is fromEric on X, who wants to know
how was it working with JohnLaurinaitis during the People?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Power storyline.
I didn't have any problemworking with him at all.
You know what I mean.
I know how to play the game, and that's all I'm going to say.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
I got you and, if you know, teddy, you can go back on
some of our other shows and hecan make you very clear how he
feels about certain individuals.
Dave Ruby, I'd rather bump intohim.
It ain't about how he feelsabout certain individuals Dave
Ruby, I'd rather bump to anempty five-gallon water bottle
than take straight nails to theback any day.

(11:28):
Yeah, amen.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Dave.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Ruby, I'm with you.
Player Trevor in Alaska asksyou once played a limo driver
for Ric Flair.
How did that come about?

Speaker 3 (11:42):
I don't know whose idea that was At the time.
I think Kevin Sullivan was partof the booking, so I'm sure
Kevin probably had something todo with it, but I think it was
probably Kevin Sullivan andmaybe I don't think Bischoff was
involved in, but it had to beKevin.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Was that, when you had Doom, you were managing Doom
at the time?

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Yeah, I was managing them at the time and what we did
?
We had a.
If one of my team members losta match, then I'd have to drive
Rick Flapp.
I'd have to be a chauffeur fora week.
So we lost the match and sothat's how I ended up being a
chauffeur.
But then, when we got him inthe car, I took him to another
spot instead of where I wassupposed to, and then we dragged

(12:25):
him out of the car and butchand ron uh, beat him up, they
jumped him.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Oh good yeah any stories uh that you can remember
from uh filming all that?

Speaker 3 (12:34):
uh, we had a great time doing it.
We did it up around lake lanierand, uh, they had rented a boat
.
Uh, I was on the boat there andthat was flair's boat,
supposedly, and so I waschecking the boat out because
all this stuff was going to bemine.
So, uh, man, I'll tell you what.
People may not believe this, but something happened.
Now I think I didn't't haveenough clothes or something.

(12:56):
But do you know, I had to getup that next morning, drive all
the way to Atlanta, pick up someclothes, stuff, and come all
the way back to Charleston, south Carolina, because that's
where we did it, to finishfilming that.
Wow, wow, back in the day.
You know everything wasn'thandy like it is now.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
No, shoot Taylor.
Hey, shoot, how you doing, brother Shoot Taylor.
By the way, for those of youwho don't know who he is, shoot
Taylor is an independentperformer wrestler, especially
in the Georgia area, one of thebest in this area, teddy, I know
you agree.
Oh yeah, man, shoot is askingGo ahead.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah, I had a chance to work with Shoot there when he
first broke in at Face-to-FaceWrestling in Georgia.
You were a big part of that andjust what an outstanding kid.
And he's tough.
He's a Kurt Angle, you know.
He's a real tough guy.
So I watch him all the time tooand he does everything he can,
you know, to try to keep himselfout there.
He's learning the business alittle bit.
So I just don't understand why,you know, somebody hadn't

(14:02):
picked him up because he's agreat talent.
So, like I tell him, you know, don't give up, man, just keep
doing what you're doing.
God's going to put you in theright place at the right time.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
I do believe there are certain people and I've seen
this over the years, teddywhere certain people can be too
nice and Shoot Taylor is one ofthose people that is a really
nice guy.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
And that don't get you nowhere in this business.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Unfortunately not.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
If you just want to be a completely bad person, then
next thing you know you're theworld champion.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
But his question here how much money did Teddy make
on selling that Viagra to theboys back in the day?
Yes, I love you guys.
Yeah, we love you too, brotherI made enough to buy a car.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
No, not really you know what, man.
We just had a great time backthen, man, and so it wasn't
really no money to be made.
But you know I sold them.
We made money and then, after Iended up in wrestlers court,
you know I got.
I couldn't sell no more, sothey, I was banned from selling.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Let me ask you a question, because you know time
limits up now.
But did you, did you keepselling Viagra under the table
still while you're there?

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Of course I did.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Of?
Did you keep selling Viagraunder the table still while you
were there?
Of course I did.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Of course, cody Metcalf asking do you miss WWE,
teddy Cody?
I'll tell you what things areturning around and they're
moving so fast right now.
You know what I mean.
I'm just glad to be at home andjust to be able to just sit and
watch the product.
I'm not sitting at home worriedabout no job or nothing like
that.
Like I said, if they.
Like I said, if they call mefor something they need me, fine
, I'll go.
If they don't, you know, don'tbother me because I'm over it.

(15:41):
So no, I really all I missprobably that travel, yeah, and
it's worse for now because I'vehad a chance to go to some, some
of the events, man, and sothat's what I don't want.
I don't want no more of thattraveling.
I'm just happy to be sleepingin my own bed every night.
If WWE calls me to do something, I'll be happy to do it.

(16:04):
If not, I don't care, and I'vejust enjoyed doing what I'm
doing going out, doing thesignings and the meet and greets
, and that's good enough for meAll right, let's see.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
We have Shayna on Facebook who wants to know.
What do you think can be doneto bring more excitement to
WrestleMania this year?

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Well, I don't think nothing right now, unless they
bring some big surprise guest.
I tell you what might be realgood if all of a sudden, we see
Stone Cold, steve Austin, walkout.
I think that'd be good forWrestleMania.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I do think that there have been some hints that he
may show up in the storyline, and I believed those rumors at
first, but I haven't heard muchabout Rock and his involvement
at WrestleMania.
I think it would have to makesure that Rock was there so that
Stone Cold can be what theUndertaker was last year for the
Rock.
Yeah, that's about the rightplace for him to be.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Yeah, yeah, let's see Shayna on Facebook.
I know she's already asked youthis.
Jackson in Tampa asks if ShaneMcMahon were to start his own
wrestling company, would youwork for him?
Of course I would Do.
You think that Shane could runa company like his dad, a
successful wrestling company, with his dad out of the picture,

(17:24):
if his dad was not available?

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Well, he knows exactly what his dad knows.
He's raised in this businessfrom a little baby boy all the
way up to a grown man.
So if he don't know nothing, then nobody knows nothing.
Yep, and I think he would be,you know, a little milder too.
He's a little low-key guy, youknow, he's a low-key person and
I think he'd be great.
You know, or two, he's a littlelow-key guy.

(17:46):
He's a low-key person, and Ithink he'd be great you could
get along with Shane.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Do you think that Vince, being as intimidating as
he was, could have hurt thecreativity of WWE?

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Well, I don't know, that's a hard question, because
I think this Vince had to belike he had to be.
This man I say this all thetime has a billion-dollar
operation here.
One word could cause him tolose everything that he's got.
So you got to stay on top ofyour game and you got to watch
what's going on, and so I thinkthis was just excuse me

(18:17):
protecting his business andprotecting his interests or
whatever you know and thecompany.
So, like I said, it didn'tbother me about him being rough.
If I did something, then I'mgoing to bring it on Vince.
Get on me, because that's whatI need.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Did you see people who were just actually terrified
to have to go speak with Vince?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Oh my God, yeah, because when you went to go to
see Vince you knew it was acome-to-Jesus meeting.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Gotcha, I mean, could you just walk into his office?
Was that possible?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
No, you don't walk in there, you knock on that door.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah, did you ever have a come to Jesus meeting
with Vince?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
I had one, but it wasn't in his office, it was in
the gorilla position.
One night I went out and I wentback to do the dog match and
the dog match was Randy Ortonand somebody I can't remember.
But anyway, I went to introduceRandy and we were in Randy's
hometown in St Louis.
And so I'm just you know, meand Randy, we're buddies, we're
friends, so we just you know, Igo back in, get ready to

(19:13):
introduce him.
I call him the legend killer.
He's the Viper.
I give him, you know, all ofhis titles, you know.
So I think I'm doing the rightthing.
So I come back and I'm walkingback through Gorilla and Vince
is standing up and he'sbeckoning for me like this, you
know he's telling me and I knowthat I'm saying to myself.

(19:34):
Now, god, what did I do?
What did I do?
So he looks at me and he saysyou in business with yourself
out there?
I said no.
And then he says to me he sayswell, he lives here.
They know he's the Viper, theyknow he's the Legend.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Killer.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
They know.
So what are you?
And so I just caught myself sowe wouldn't have to draw it out.
And I just said to him and Iwas being honest, I said, sir,
I'll be straight up with you.
I was playing.
I said, but I'll guarantee youthis that will never happen
again, I'll never play again.
And he looked at me and he says, his last words were to me yeah
, you're better than that.
And I walked away.

(20:12):
But he learned me right there, don't play.
Period.
Business 24-7.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yep Shoot Taylor asking the question is Kayfabe
dead in 2025?

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Kayfabe died in 2020.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Unfortunately, when the WWE went to World Wrestling
Entertainment, yeah, I hated tosee that, although I do believe
that there is a way to maintainkayfabe to a point where you can
still work the fans where theythink they're getting real.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
The professional guys you know that have been around,
like me myself.
You know we know when it's timeto turn kayfabe on and to turn
it off.
But, like I never forget, god, rest his soul.
Pat Patterson man, he was agreat guy, me and Pat, you joked
around and had a lot of fun andhe would.
One night.
One time we was at WrestleManiaand he just stopped me and we

(21:03):
was talking and he's, god damnit, teddy, look at all this.
You know there's people fromeverywhere was in the back.
You know people we didn't evenknow, we never seen before, but
there was all over and all theboys back there together.
So that's what I'm saying.
They killed Kayfabe a long timeago.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Do you think, but you do believe, though, that you
can still work the fans though, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Tabitha, who was the one personyou didn't enjoy working with,
whether it be just you didn'tget together or get jailed
together, or you just didn'tlike them.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Well, I didn't have nobody that I just didn't like.
I had people that I didn't wantto work with because they were
hard to work with.
You know, they wanted to do allthis stuff and then they wanted
to have me do stuff that didn'tmake any sense.
You know what I mean.
So that's the kind of you knowproblem that I had a lot of
times people trying to get me todo something that they didn't
mean.
And I'll give you an example.

(22:09):
When I was managing heel manager, I remember my agent went to
come and we had Jackie Mooreworking in that match that night
.
And the agent come and he saidwell, jackie is going to walk
around on your side of the ringand she's going to slap you.
So I'm looking at him.
I said slap me for what?
Oh man, teddy, come on.
I said, well, I didn't get outof it, but the way I let him
know that I know better.
I said well, I tell you whatVince always told me he didn't
want nobody putting their handson me.

(22:30):
So let's go to Vince, and ifVince tells me that Jackie
Morgan slapped me, then I'll doit.
Yep, so that's old heat.
I've been had that for quite awhile too.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Herb Simmons popping in saying good evening gentlemen
.
Hey, herb, we were just talkingabout SICW a minute ago.
As a matter of fact, Dave Rubycoming in, guys, I can't wait
for SICW Fan Fest 3 in St Louis,as I'll be bringing the Falls
Count Everywhere podcast on thatSaturday.
Dave, I'm looking forward tothat.
I'm going to stop by and seeyou while we're there too.
I think I just popped in realquick last year, teddy.

(23:02):
I think I just popped in realquick last year, teddy.
I think you were on that showlast year, weren't?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
you.
Yeah, I was there last year andI'm glad to see Herb checking
in with us man, and once againI'll get a chance to thank him
when I get there.
But they give me that LifetimeAchievement Award and I
certainly really appreciate thatand, like I said, there ain't
too many guys get that, and sothat makes me feel pretty proud.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Teddy, we got a name association and we also have one
other thing I want to bring upwho should be on the Mount
Rushmore of wrestling managers?
Now, according to the Sportster, this is the top 10 of the
managers.
I'm going to see what you thinkabout this.
First of all, at number 10, wehad Skandor Akbar.

(23:41):
At number 9, paul Bearer.
At number 8, the Grand Wizard, number seven, jimmy Hart.
At number six, captain LouAlbano.
At five, we have classy FreddieBlassie.
Number four, gary Hart.
Number three, paul Heyman.
Number two, jim Cornette andnumber one, bobby the Brain

(24:04):
Heenan.
Is there somebody that youthink may be missing from this
list?
Jim Cornette and number oneBobby the Brain Heenan Is there
somebody that you think may bemissing from this list?
No, not really.
You can't think of anothermanager that maybe should have
been mentioned in this list,don't?

Speaker 3 (24:17):
worry about it.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
man, let me ask do you think that's because you
were more known as the managerof SmackDown, the general
manager and not a.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Well, here's the thing.
When you're talking about allthose guys, all those are great
guys I was just waiting on youto call Gary Hart's name.
You know I'm like you can'tleave Gary out, but you had Paul
Heyman in there.
Hart, skander, akbar, all thoseguys are tremendous managers.
So what I believe is, back thenpeople didn't even know me as
being a manager.
I think I was refereeing morethen than being a manager.

(24:49):
So that's why I'm saying don'tbother me by not being in there.
People didn't even know me then.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, I really think that that is the case.
I think it's that most peopleknow you as the SmackDown
general manager.
I mean, they know you had ahistory with being an official,
but that's who.
Everybody knows you as you know, that's the crazy.
You know fun-loving Teddy Longon Saturday, I mean on Friday
Night Smackdowns, and so youknow.
That's why I was kind ofquestioning that.

(25:15):
But you know, but I agree, Ithink that, besides the fact
that you were probably one ofthe best managers of your time
with Ron and with Butch, yousubbed this thing out.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
And that's another thing I was going to mention too
Some of the fans if they mightthink this is worth talking
about.
I can understand why we haven'tgot a pitch to get Ron Doom in
the WWE Hall of.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Fame.
I'm surprised that hasn'thappened yet, because Butch
worked in WWE too, right?

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, he was the natural Butch Reed.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
So I don't understand , unless there's some real heat.
But I would think over timeI've seen people go in that had
all kinds of heat and it doesn'tmatter if they're still in the
WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Right.
Well, like I said, I don't knowwhat to tell you.
Let me clear myself.
I'm not plugging it so I can bethere with them.
I don't have to be there, okay.
So let's get that straight.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
But until you said it again, that is one of the major
tag teams of its time.
It'd be hard-pressed not tohave them into the Hall of Fame.
All right, let's see HerbSimmons popping back in.
Herb, your message was justthere.
There it is.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Nobody can holler like Teddy and you can believe
that Clay All right we do have afew more minutes here.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
If you have any questions, make sure to get them
in before we get out of here.
He will pick one of thesequestions to be his favorite
question and that question willget a free Road Trip After Hours
t-shirt.
I just sent out a bunch ofthose just the other day.
All right, let's see here.
Name association real fast,gerald Briscoe.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Oh, man, Outstanding One of the great.
I'll always and I know I toldyou this, Mac, but I remember
when I first went to New York, there with Vince Briscoe, pulled
me out to the side.
He says to me he said the bossloves you, Don't fuck this up.
Those were his words.
So when I went in the Hall ofFame I found Gerald and I went
right to him.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
I said hey, I didn't right to him I said hey, I
didn't fucking say herb is uh.
By the way, yes, uh, herb, I'mglad you said this butch is
going into the st louis hall offame, uh, this year.
So, uh, that's, that's reallywell, very good, very good.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Thank you, herb simmons, and I'm glad that I'll
you know I'll be there to be apart of it.
Thank you so much let's see, uh,the next name on this name
association pat patterson oh,great guy man, and you know a
lot of guys couldn't joke aroundwith Pat, you know.
But I could joke around withhim and he would say little
comments to me and I'd saylittle stuff back to him.
But that meant a lot to me, youknow, for Pat Patterson, a guy

(27:50):
like that to take the time, youknow, and talk to me.
And he told me one time theycalled me back for something, I
me.
And he told me one time theycalled me back for something.
I went to Raw or something andwhen I went out this was Pat.
I swear to God went out and Icome back I got such a huge pop.
He looked at me.
He said they really missed you.
Yes, yes, that's what he saidto me.
I never forget that.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
He said they really wanted to see you, randy Savage,
next name on the list.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
Oh, man had a chance to hang with with randy before
he was randy muncho man and uh,I think I told you a story about
that time that they took theman's uh stuff him and dick
slater.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
No, no tell us a different thing, but I don't
think we've told it here.
Go ahead okay.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
Well, one time we went over to this spot, uh, to
get get some weed.
And so when we got in the car, well, I took him over there.
This was I'm just hangingaround the TV station, then you
know, just running.
So we got over there and so theguy come and got in the car
with us.
This was true stories me, randySavage and Dick Slater.
So the guy.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
We talked about what guy's getting in the car.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
I don't know.
He was the guy that was sellingthe drugs.
Okay, I got you now.
So the guy we went to buy someweed, so we got over there.
The guy gets in the car with usto bring the weed.
Well, when he gets in the carhe comes out of his pocket and
he says, hey, not only do I gotweed, I got this.
So he has this big bag ofcocaine in his hand.
So the next thing I know I'msitting back with no.

(29:13):
Savage is in the front, slater's in the back.
I'm in the back.
Savage turns around and he nodshis head.
Now I didn't know then, but Iknow what that meant.
Then he gave Dick the office.
Next thing I know Slater hooksthe guy right in the sleeper,
puts him to sleep right in hiscar and we take all of his stuff
.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Oh, my God.
And of course I bet you neverwent back to that spot again.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Well, I couldn't go back.
I lived there.
I could never go back overthere, oh God.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Okay, we'll end it there because we are out of time
.
Dave Rubio.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
I met Randy.
After we did that, it had beenmany, many years ago.
And I met Randy and he made metell that story to everybody.
Come here, brother, Tell them.

Speaker 2 (29:57):

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Did he remember it as well?
Yeah God.
When I brought that up to him,he popped oh God, yeah, tell him
brother.
He made me tell everybody thatstory.

Speaker 2 (30:11):

You got to pick somebody aquestion for this evening that
you like the best, and we'll geta t-shirt to them.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
