Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody and welcome to an all-new edition of
Wrestling's Road Trip AfterHours.
I'm your host, Mac Davis, alongwith WWE Hall of Famer and
another award we're going totalk about in just a minute, Mr
Teddy Long.
How you doing, Teddy?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hey, I'm good man.
Thank you so very much.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Man.
We're going to show you in justa little while what happened in
St Louis when Teddy his uhspecial award that you'll find
out about in just a few moments.
Teddy, I you know we startedout with that video open, uh,
reminding people to pleasedonate and help the victims of
those storms, and yeah, and whata beautiful award too.
I knew I never saw that thatnight.

(00:38):
I saw him hand it to you andthat was it, teddy.
Yes, but yeah, that's abeautiful award man, the
lifetime achievement award 2025for the st louis wrestling hall
of fame, and uh, very specialguy inducted him.
We'll talk about him as well injust a few moments.
But uh, teddy, let's talk aboutthe start of the trip heading
to st louis.
Brother, we get on the planeand one of the first things we

(01:02):
hear from the pilot is beautifulweather in st louis partly
sunny, looks like a nice day.
We get up in the plane nice, easy ride, no problems at all.
The only problem I had was Iwas stuck in a middle seat and I
had two okay, I had two fatpeople.
I don't know if you can say fat, I don't know what, if it's not
politically correct.
I'm sorry, but they were tworather large people on both

(01:26):
sides of me.
So I'm like you know, I'm likethis sardine in a can.
And we get to St Louis.
Now we circle the airport andgo around and around and around,
to the point where I startedwatching the map on the plane to
make sure if I was just goingcrazy.
And I watched this go aroundthe airport five times, I knew

(01:48):
something wasn't right.
The pilot, not saying a word, makes his descent into St Louis.
Teddy, what a turbulent ride,man.
I felt my stomach 10 feet overmy head at times.
It was one of the craziestrides I've ever been through to
get down on the ground.
And once we got down on theground, every single phone on

(02:12):
that airplane has that warningsignal going off from their
phones.
It sounds like the end of theworld has just hit.
Everybody's phones are goingcrazy.
And then the pilot comes on andsays we have to remain on the
tarmac because of a tornadothat's passing by.
So we couldn't even get to ourgate.
Daddy, that was crazy, crazyshit.

(02:32):
I'm just going to tell you thatthat was exciting.
I didn't really care.
I wasn't worried about mysafety at all.
I think you and I even saidthis In my mind.
I was like well, at least we'reon the ground.
What worse can happen?
We get flipped over, you know, that's the only thing.
But the hail was hitting theplane, the wind was moving us
around just a crazy flight yeah, yeah, that that was pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Uh, like I said, I've been on one that was a little
bit worse than that.
So, um, uh, yeah, it's prettybad up there, you know, because,
like I said, those guys don'tknow what's happening.
Like you said, we took off.
Guys says great weather in stlouis was nice and sunny, so
they have no idea what'shappening up there.
Man, that's god's call.

(03:16):
So you know, I'm just thankfulthat we were able to lance and,
uh, nobody on the plane, uh, youknow, got hurt or got on doing
that turbulence.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, because I mean, you know, a lot of damage
happened in the St Louis area.
It was St Louis, kentucky andVirginia, I believe, were the
areas that really got tore up bythese storms.
In fact, the tornado that wewere avoiding was the one that
went through downtown St Louisin the metro areas, which is
rather odd.
So just a horrible time withweather.

(03:49):
And, teddy, you know, and HerbSimmons, nick Ridenour, all
those people worked so hard toput on the SICW event and I got
to tell you I felt bad for thembecause I knew, friday night, as
I kept hearing about the damageand I kept hearing about the
power outages in the area, I hada sneaking suspicion that

(04:09):
Saturday was not going to be asbig as it could have been, and I
really think that's the case.
We had a good turnout, but thelocal people and Teddy, I told
you this when we were there Icouldn't leave my home If I had
the power out and the damagegoing on.
The last thing I got time to dois go be able to go do a
wrestling thing.
I've got to take care ofbusiness at home.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, I wouldn't leave my home either.
So you know that that that'swhat it was.
You know, like I said, thatweather was pretty there.
Even some people lost theirlives there, six or so.
I think that certainly had alot to do with it Because, like
I said, anybody in their mindthey got to stay and see about
their home Before they go tosome wrestling event.
But hopefully, you know, sorryfor those kids who lost their

(04:53):
lives and anybody else you knowWas able to survive that and God
bless them.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
And Herb and Nick and everybody else involved.
You guys did a tremendous job, like you do every single year.
Just unfortunate that MotherNature, dec, decided to be a
bitch that weekend.
Uh, let's see plot twist.
Jones saying hey guys, hey plot, good to see you in here.

talk to them during theirpodcast while in St Louis.
What did you guys talk about?
I didn't even ask you that oh,really nothing.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I just stopped by to say hello to him and, uh, you
know, and told him, you know, you know of all of them and just
you know, give them a big shoutout.
And that was about yeah that'suh.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
These guys uh treated us really well while we were
there.
I was on the show for about 15minutes with him.
I enjoyed it.
As a matter of fact, I do somany of these different things
and, teddy, I know you do toothat occasionally you come
across a show like Falls Countyeverywhere and it felt like home
because you could just talk tothese guys.
You're talking, wrestling, youcan disagree, but still get

(06:28):
along just fine, which is whathappened when I was there.
I was totally disagreeing withsome of the comments about heels
and the business and everythingelse, but it was a fun time.
Good show, guys, and we lookforward to seeing you again next
time, because they've beenthere every year like we have.
Teddy, let's see.
Let's see.
Plot twist Also nice.

(06:50):

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Uh, irvin, mike larue .

popping again.
Mac was the meat between texastoast.

it up on youtube.

We appreciate that.
Uh, and again, if you can helpin those areas where those
storms took place, please donateor do whatever you can to help
those families out.
Let's see.
I can hear I think the planshould go one on.
Oh, the plane probably shouldgo one on one with the

(07:47):
undertaker.
And let's see, tim Johns Macbrought the tornado.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
I kind of yeah, I agree with that.
Yeah, now you're exactly right,sir.
Yes, sir, he did look here.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I do want to for those of you who are tuning in

He did a lot of jazz.
Well, I asked Kenny's podcastpartner to give me some notes.
To try to refresh my memory.
He gave me 15 pages.
We wanted to get the group outof this damn arena In 1932, jay

And and uh, immediately I knew, because he was it to be
somebody from Teddy's past.
And I knew who it was going tobe.
And immediately I knew, becausehe was going to be there, gerald
Briscoe, if I asked him, hewould do it in a heartbeat and
he did.
And I told him.

(20:00):

Speaker 2 (20:20):
And, like I said, what let me knew that he was on
my side, so to speak, is hedidn't have to pull me off to
the side and tell me nothing.
No, he got it, don't mess it up.
Okay, so that's all he can do.
And he didn't did nobody elsetell me that, and there was a

(20:41):
lot of other people knew too.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Oh yeah, but he was going to make sure to look out
for you.
That's something you can'tforget.

Who created the idea for thefive-minute white boy challenge?
Mr McMahon, you know, and Iwould never have thought that I

(21:25):
would have thought maybe youbrought that to him, but he came
to you with that idea.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
I did bring that to him.
He knew what happened to me inWCW, so he just did.

He's listening and he knowswhere entertainment can be found
.
All right, let's see the40-House C-Dub.

I guess, if they put togetherthat Legends House again for

(21:58):
another run and I enjoyed thatshow, by the way Would you do
that?

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Well, yeah, I'd love to be in the house with JBL and
Ron Simmons.
Oh, man, could you imagine?

man, could you imagine?
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (22:13):

that Teddy, there's no reason,Don't leave him out.
Oh yeah, I mean you've got awhole bunch of those guys where
you know you always got introuble or something and nobody
is quiet of the bunch.
Everybody's got something tosay, so that makes it even
better.
That'd be a great show.
I'm surprised you haven't beenapproached about that yet,

Oh, my God, okay, lucky PLarson has made his way into the
room.
This is a first for the show.
And Lucky P Larson, he says.
I admit that one of thehighlights of the fan fest for
me was seeing Teddy dance just abit for the boys in the locker

(23:38):
room before he left for thenight.
I didn't even see that.
You must've snuck back therewhen I wasn't there, can't see
everything.

There's so many things thatpeople, if they knew about Teddy
, would be even more impressedby his life.
Let's see what else we got here.
Falls count everywhere.
Don't get out of the vehicle ifit's snowing and Teddy's

(24:22):

Let's see what else we got here.
Pot Twist, teddy, that I sentyou that were asking about it.
Let's see what else we got here.
Plot twist, teddy.

(24:56):
Remember when someone was goingto pick you or a booker to be
the GM of SmackDown, vince cameout, crowd went nuts.
He picked Vicky.
Then the crowd wouldn't let hertalk because of the boos Of the
boos, boos being too obvious.
Yeah, I remember that.
Yeah, I remember that.
Did you feel like when yourealized that the fans did not
like that decision, did youthink to yourself I should have

(25:18):
gone the other direction?

Speaker 2 (25:20):
No, that's great, that's great.
Vicky had the most heat ofeverybody.
Man, that was absolutely great.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Yeah, Vicky did.
I haven't seen Vicky at arecent show in the last year or
so.
Have you seen her lately?

Speaker 2 (25:34):
I saw her.
I went to do something with WWEin Seattle and they're in
Seattle, so that's the last timeI saw her.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Let's see We've got time for just a couple more here
.
Zach, popping in, teddy and Mac.
What was one of the best thingsthat you took away from SICW
FanFest 3?
Teddy, how about you?

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Well, what I took away from it is just the way
everything was ran.
Everything was just so on time,Everybody was organized.
I mean, it was just top of theline and that's all I can say.
I mean Herman and NickRittenittenhart they've been
doing a hell of a job there, youknow, putting that together
every year.

(26:17):
So I took a lot from it, man,and I thank these guys.
This is just the beginning forthem.
This is going to be real big.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, this is something that I look forward to
.
I say this every time, everyyear.
This is one of my favorites.
This event for the last threeyears has been my favorite
because of the way that it'shandled.
Everything is so professional, like you said, teddy.
Everything's on time the fans, the guests, everybody together.
It's just fun to hang around.
Let me give you an example.
On Saturday night we sat down tohave dinner.

(26:48):
Now listen to the table.
What we had at the table.
I had me and Teddy were there.
Robert Gibson from Rock andRoll Express was there.
We had Mr Hughes was there.
Gerald Briscoe Am I leavinganybody out here, teddy?
No, that's it.
Yeah, and you talk about a sitdown at a table just talking
about different things duringdinner and a wealth of knowledge

(27:10):
.
It is a blast.
It's that kind of environmentwhere you can be around these
people and get to know them onthe real level and not the show
level, and it's really cool, which is why I love this event
