Take a ride with wrestling legends as Mac Davis and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long dive into the world of professional wrestling with unfiltered authenticity. This episode finds our hosts buzzing with excitement about the upcoming SICW Fan Fest 3 in St. Louis, where Teddy will receive a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award from promoter Herb Simmons, a man who's been treating wrestlers fairly for over 50 years.

The conversation takes an unexpected turn as they dissect Dana White's controversial Power Slap league, with Teddy offering candid thoughts on the physical toll such entertainment takes on participants. "You put yourself in a situation of getting a concussion," Teddy notes, drawing from decades of experience in an industry where performer safety remains a contentious topic.

Their spotlight on Georgia's independent wrestling scene reveals gems like Skrilla the Great, Shoot Taylor, and Randy Reno – talent Teddy describes as "great guys to work with" who deserve broader recognition. This segues into industry news about Mercedes Moné's $100/month fan texting service and speculation about Bill Goldberg's rumored WWE return, potentially setting up a showdown with Gunther.

The highlight of the episode comes during the mailbag segment when Teddy shares the hilarious origin story behind Scott Hall's famous "Yo man" catchphrase, revealing it began as an impression of a muscular gym-goer in Oakland. He also drops fascinating tidbits about his own career, including getting fined $1000 for smoking marijuana during his WWE days and refereeing a 30-minute classic between Barry Windham and Brad Armstrong that left him "soaking wet" from the physical exertion.

These compelling wrestling tales showcase why this podcast continues to delight fans seeking authentic perspectives from those who've lived the business. Subscribe now and join Mac and Teddy next week as they prepare for their St. Louis adventure – or as Teddy warns with his signature charm, it's "one-on-one with the Undertaker!"

Speaker 1 (00:50):
We'll see you next time.
Let's do this Say something, will you?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I'm waiting to see their face.
That's what I'm saying.
I never know when we startuntil our pictures show up there
you go.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
We can't even get started at all.
Here's a program that we justcame right on the air and he's
just sitting there not sayingthat one word.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Now he knows we're on the air ladies and gentlemen,
no, no, no, but the microphoneis muted during that video.
They can't hear us until themicrophones.
Well, why?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
why, well they, they, they?
Mine wasn't muted.
That you heard me?
No, I couldn't hear you.
If you didn't hear me, youcouldn't be asking me back all
right, I'm gonna stop talking toyou.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
This is an average day with teddy, and I welcome
Welcome to Wrestling's Road Trip.
After Hours, I'm your host, macDavis, along with my WWE Hall
of Famer co-host, mr Teddy Long.
Teddy, I'm getting ready for StLouis brother.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Well, it's right around the corner, my man.
That SICW big fan fest there, hall of Fame celebration, all
kinds of things are going to begoing there and this thing is
like I said.
This will make my third yearbeing involved with them and
this is getting to be bigger andbigger each year.
I've had me and you both havehad the opportunity to be there
and watch this thing grow, soit's going to be real great.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
This year they got a lot of, you know, old school
guys that are going to be thereand then put in the Hall of fame
, guys that maybe didn't make itto the big one, but herb
simmons is a guy that stillthinks about him, so I feel like
any hall of fame that you'reinducted in it means something
especially when you get intocities like saint louis, who are
so rich with wrestling historyand wrestling at the chase and

(02:37):
other things that, uh, you knowthat that's a hall of fame you
want to get into, including eventhe one that I do later on in
the year in new york, in albany,in the international
professional wrestling hall offame.
Two great, fantastic events, uh,but the, I gotta tell you, the
sicw fan fest three inconnection with the hall of fame
is a hell of a weekend.

(02:58):
It's a lot of fun and, liketeddy said, we've been there now
since the inception.
It's been three years.
This will be our third eventand it's just getting bigger and
better every single year.
And you can't go wrong whenHerb Simmons is involved.
You know we pat him on the backquite a bit, but he's one of
those promoters who has beenaround for over 50 years and has
treated the boys fair at everyturn.

(03:20):
That's hard to find in awrestling promoter.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Well, I'll tell you, I'll mention this.
You know, I've, I've, I'veheard of Herb Simmons all
through my whole career, but Ihad never had an opportunity to
meet Herb until, uh, you know, like three years ago.
So, and now I want to mention, you know, he's also inducted and
giving me the lifetimeachievement award, so what that
tells me, here's a man that'sbeen watching me that I didn't
even know.
You know what I mean and heunderstands, you know, and and

(03:47):
thought about me, you know, andso how appreciative you know,
can you be there.
So, like I said, herb, someone's giving me that
lifetime achievement award.
And not only is just herb, it'sall the guys that I had the
opportunity to work with overthe years and you know that made
, you know, welcome me into thewrestling world and gave me the
opportunity to be a part of it.
So I'll be happy to thank them.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
One of those names Teddy too, that'll be there is
Gerald Briscoe.
Oh yeah, there's so many guysthat you worked with that know
how you started into thisbusiness and I think that's
important when it comes to theLifetime Achievement Award for
you, because, the way I see it,it's not just your wrestling
career when you say LifetimeAchievement Award and you

(04:31):
mentioned Teddy's name.
When you know his life and howhe began in life and where he
got, it is a true LifetimeAchievement Award.
And, Teddy, it's just one ofthe things that I'm so impressed
by you, because I know some ofthe stories other people don't
know.
I know some of the stuff thatyou've been through, and so for
me to see you, it's an honor forme to be there that night just

(04:52):
to watch you get that award.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
And I also want to mention this too.
You know, the first people thatgave me the Lifetime
Achievement Award were thepeople that run Dragon Con
Wrestling, and those were thefirst guys there that gave me
that award.
So I do have that.
In fact, I'm looking at itright now.
So if I get a chance I'll getit and show it to you.
But Dragon Con Wrestling werethe people who gave me the first

(05:14):
Lifetime Achievement Award.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Very cool.
They got an event coming upsoon, don't they?
Don't they have something?
Well, yeah, they got Dragon Con.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I wanted to kind of not mention my part this year
because, well, we're trying tofinalize a deal and I'm not
going to be with the wrestlingcompany, I'm going to be
involved with Dragon Con, and sothey're talking to me now and
so everything looks pretty good.
But hopefully I'll be able togive you the good news and we'll
start with it right here inAtlanta, right through I think

(05:43):
it's the end of August, rightthrough September.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah, I want to say it's the very end of the summer.
It's like one of those thingsthat happens right around the
holiday every year, so I can'tremember what the holiday is.
All right, let me bring upsomething here, teddy.
I saw this today.
We talk about wrestling, butthere's some other shows that
hit the airwaves, some of whichDana White from UFC is involved
in, and one of those is thepower slap.

(06:07):
Have you ever seen that, teddy, where they stand there and slap
one another over?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
and over again.
Yeah, I've seen that.
What are your?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
thoughts about power slaps.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Well, I mean, I don't know, guys, people come up with
gimmicks.
People come up with things youknow that you haven't seen or
you just wouldn't believe youknow people would do and that
attracts people, that attractsan audience.
Plus, it makes money too, because they can turn that into
a match or whatever they want todo.
But think about it If you stoodthere and you're just slapping

(06:38):
a guy for about an hour or so,somebody's going to go down so
somebody's going to go down.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
I don't see how you put that kind of.
You put yourself in a situationof getting a concussion.
I would think how hard can youtake a slap to the side of the
head if they hit you wherethey're supposed to hit you?
Because sometimes they can go alittle high, they can go a
little bit low and they canreally hurt you.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Well, that's the chance you got to take.
That's like being in the UFC.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Yeah, I tell you what .
They'd have to pay me a lot ofmoney to stand there and let
somebody just smack the shit outof me over and over again.
I mean, and I don't know that Ican slap him back any harder.
The reason I bring that up isthere's word now that a new
season of power slap is comingup that may be involving
wrestlers from WWE, aew, tna andother organizations.

(07:31):
I you look, I always ask thisquestion because you work with
Vince McMahon, so I'm just goingto ask the question.
When he was around, wouldanybody on his roster have gone
over and attempted to be a partof Power Slap?
Would he have allowed that?

Speaker 2 (07:50):
No, I don't think so.
Vince ran a tight machine andin other words, you can't really
blame him for that.
I mean, you know, if I'veinvested my money into this
particular guy and he's workingfor me, then I can't see him
going over here trying to helpanother company out.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
You know, know, we're not that good of friends no,
and also you got to look at itfrom an injury aspect too,
because they can get concussions.
And that's one of your guys andnow, all of a sudden, he's out
with a concussion well, you knowthe other thing too, and I hate
to say it.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
You know they may work this too, but you, I don't
see how you can.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
But you just never know.
It'd be interesting to see whathappens.
Who knows?
By the way, I saw where Trevorstopped by.
This is somebody, Teddy, lastweek we talked about, and you
wouldn't let me mention who thisis.
I'm going to tell you who thisis.
Have you figured it out yet whothis guy is?
We've worked with him time andtime again.

(08:45):
Look on the screen.
Who are you talking about?
Look on the screen.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Trevor's Dumas Skrilla, the Great, okay,
skrilla, I didn't know that.
I didn't ever know his shootname.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, it was funny because we were laughing about
that last week because you keptgiving a shit and I was trying
to tell you who it was and youkept cutting me off, so it's
good to see you back in the room.
Uh, skrill, look here, one ofthe up-and-coming talents in
georgia.
We talk about him.
We talk about shoot taylor.
Uh, there are guys like thisthat are in the georgia indies.
If you have not booked them, you're missing out, because this
is good talent.

(09:21):
You'll get good talent at agood price.
So make sure you contact eitherShoot Taylor or Skrilla the
Great.
Like I say, I mentioned just acouple of guys in the state of
Georgia that are really good, and I'm going to throw Randy
Reno's name in there with theseguys too.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Man, he's another great talent if you guys like to
book him.
Randy Reno, another great guy.
But Skrilla, my man, I justdidn't know you shoot name man.
But he's got a good attitudeman, great guy to work with man,
just as nice as he can be.
So thanks for joining us player.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yeah, skrilla's been one of the guys I've kept up
with from the start of hiscareer to where he is now, and
I'll send him a text from timeto time just kind of encouraging
what he's doing, because Ibelieve in him.
I think he's somebody thatneeds to be seen on a larger
scale than we're seeing rightnow.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
You believe in me, and look what happened.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Oh, don't blame me for that, zach Minger.
Hey, mac and Teddy, how are you?
I'm doing good, zach.
Teddy, how about you?

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Zach, I'm just saying hello to you and hope you're
having a nice day.
I'm just dealing, hello to youand hope you're having a nice
day.
I'm just dealing with Matt andy'all just don't know.
Man, this man here.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
You just wait until we end up getting together.
Next weekend when we're in StLouis Nothing good comes out of
that.
We'll be invading the KrispyKreme or something around that
area, because we always get offand have some kind of fun.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Let's holler at Steve Morris right there.
He's saying something aboutwhatever.
Whatever ever releasedCharlotte Blair I would I know I
got nothing to do with that.
Why would he?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
ask me that question.
Well, maybe he thought you hadsome inside information.
I, here's the thing I don'tthink there, I don't got no
outside information, let aloneinside.
Let's see what else do we havehere.
I want to bring up becky lynch,uh, recently making a comment,

(11:15):
and it was kind of in a in jestwhen she was saying this during
an interview, uh, but she wastalking about bailey, saying
she's not a good person, and andhere's what she said.
She said, quote why is anybodyacting like?
Me and Bailey are best friends.
I've not liked that woman, maybe like a month here or there
, but then either I'm going toturn on her or she's going to
turn on me because we don't gel.

(11:37):
Bailey is so confused aboutthis that she's probably paying
$100 per month to have her bestfriend text her.
Now, teddy, I don't know if youknow what that means, do you?
No, I don't.
Mercedes Monet over in AEW isnow offering a texting service

(12:00):
where her fans can now text herfor $99.99 per month $100 per
month and you can have access bytexting Sasha Banks or Mercedes
Monet.
Your thoughts?

Speaker 2 (12:18):
As no thoughts.
I don't even know what to say.
I mean, this is their thing now, man, like all these different
sites, onlyfans and all that, soa lot of this stuff is going on
and the girls are making money,so I can't knock them.
Man, if you can make the moneymonth to send a text and maybe
get a text back from you know weassume not a, not a bot, but

(12:52):
you know the actual MercedesMonet you don't feel that way,
but it's a whole lot of peoplethat do.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, and well, yeah, that's true.
I mean, there's a lot of peoplewho spend a lot of money, and
WrestleMania was a good exampleof that, because people spent a
ton of money at WrestleMania.
They didn't make millions.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
this time they made billions.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Also, before we get into your questions, more
questions and as well as theemail, I want to bring up
something about Bill Goldberg.
Recent reports are saying thatWWE now is looking at Bill to
come back in to the company torun an angle and he's been said
to be back in the gym andworking out.

(13:33):
And the last time we saw himTeddy, I don't know if you
remember this, but it was inAtlanta at Bad Blood, where he
shared this moment with Guntherwhere they kind of had this look
, a real tense moment betweenthe two of them moment with
Gunther where they kind of hadthis look at real tense moment
between the two of them.
I'm wondering is it possiblethat we might see Goldberg show
up this weekend during the matchbetween Gunther and Pat McAfee?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Well, I think that would be the right thing to do.
I mean, listen to me, PatMcAfee.
I love him to death.
What a great guy on themicrophone.
I haven't seen him do thosestuff in the ring yet.
I haven't had a chance to seethat.
He's not that bad, Well good.
But as far as him managing orbeing somebody's spokesman, he
is a number one for that.

(14:14):
But it would mean more to haveGoldberg show up, maybe,
especially when maybe the guysis getting, when Gunther is
getting the best of McAfee.
Okay, what I mean?
Well, I mean this, I meanpounding on it.
Pounding, pounding, I meanbecause Gunther's taking
advantage, because you know,McAfee's really not a seasoned
wrestler, so I'd do somethingright there where he's got

(14:37):
McAfee going.
I mean he's about to take him, maybe signals for something goes
for it.
And here comes Goldberg.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Yeah, I'd like to see Goldberg come in and I think
it'd be a great matchup betweenthe two.
I'm like you know.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
They did throw you know a little hint out there
that something may be coming inthe future between Gunther, and
I think the hint is this I'veseen stuff on social media where
you look now it's likeinstagram and everywhere it's
goldberg.
So yeah, that ain't.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
They ain't just putting that out there for
nothing now I'm also wonderingare they going to let him be a
part of the you know the spearuh campaign?
Because I still say braunbreaker needs to be the only
person using that spear andtheir needs, and they even
teased roman reigns and braunbreaker at one point.
We know the spear I.
I'm wondering if you bring ingoldberg, do you let him be a

(15:26):
part of that and and take himout of the equation of the best
spear?
Because jacob, I'm not jacob uh, yeah, no, no, no.
Who am I thinking of now?
Damn it.
Um, braun breaker needs to bethe only person that is using
that move before it's all saidand done.
So it's a true finisher byBraun Breaker, would you agree?

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Well, maybe that's your story.
The story may end up in the endbetween Goldberg and Braun
Breaker.
Yes, yes, okay, that will maybebe Goldberg's retirement.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
If you want to be a part of the show, all you got to
do is leave a comment downbelow and we'll throw it up on
the screen and talk about it.
In the meantime, we're going totell you more about SICW and
we'll come right back with themailbag.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
SICW FanFest 3 is almost here.
Meet your favorite wrestlingsuperstars.

Get up close and personal withwrestling legend SICWorg.
Come on, do it right now, sicworg, don't wait.

(16:34):
Make plans May 16th and 17th atthe Hilton St Louis Airport.
S-i-c-w Fan Fest 3.
Oh, we get letters, we get yourletters every day, mailman,

(16:59):
mailman, mail.
Today, reach right in and pullone out.
Oh letters.
I love those letters.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Let's find out what you've got to say, oh boy.
Mailman mail today.

(17:28):
Today, all right, I can't hearyou hey, can you hear me there,
you?

Speaker 3 (17:39):
go.
Yeah, I can't hear you thoughwell, I you brought yourself
right in.
I don't know everything.
Huh, just a second.
Let me reset, just to make sureit's not an issue.
Okay, I can hear you now, allright, I hear you now, okay, you

(18:10):
can hear me now, okay, yeah, okay, here we go.
Let's try this again.
Melody, melody, live Melody atLive TV.
Brother Melody writes have youever been asked to be a part of
Dark Side of the Ring?

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Yes, I was on the episode with Junkyard Dog when
they were talking about him.
I was a part of that episode.
Somebody else too I did on that.
I can't remember who that was,but yeah, I've been a part of it
for at least a couple of theepisodes.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Have they ever approached you about focusing
one show on you, and I don'tknow what that would be?

Speaker 2 (18:47):
You know I did talk to them last year I forget what
month it was.
One of the ladies called mefrom there and we did something
over the phone.
We did do a video and aboutstuff.
I don't know whether they'regoing to use that or not, but
they did call me and I think wedid talk about 30 minutes but we
did film it.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Very cool.
Our second question from StevieB Did the use of drugs and
alcohol taper off as thebusiness grew?

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Well, I don't know what you mean when you say taper
off as the business grew.
Well, I don't know what youmean when you say taper off.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I guess he means was it used less?
Did people stop using it somuch?

Speaker 2 (19:25):
That's not how drugs work.
Okay, when you get hooked ondrugs, you're going to use as
much as you can and every dayyou can.
It don't work like well, I'm inthe business now.
I guess I was doing $500 worth.
But I'm in the business now.
I guess I I was doing fivehundred dollars worth, but I'm
in the wwe now I'll cut back.
I'll only do two hundreddollars worth.
No, it don't work like that.
The drugs basically control you, so anybody that was able to

(19:48):
get off of it you know what Imean.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
God bless them now you know I heard the days early
on back in the nwa and early wcwthat it was prevalent in the
back different things that wouldgo on in the NWA and early WCW,
that it was prevalent in theback different things that would
go on in the back.
I would imagine, though, as yougot towards WWE, especially
when they went public that youdidn't see any sign of anything

(20:10):
like that backstage.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
No, nothing like that at all and, like I said back
then, it was real strict.
It was fining you for smokingmarijuana.
Man, I guys well, I was one ofthem got fined a thousand
dollars, you know, for smoking ajoint.
So yeah, it was.
There's really cracking down onit.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
now, when you got uh hit with that, uh fine, who were
you?
Were you smoking?
Was it worth the the payment?
Or you know, I'm saying I knowyou've with a couple of big
names, so Well, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Well, when you you know what I mean when you know
when you're not doing too badand you make a little bit of
money and you're kind of able topay the fine, but that was a
lot of money to pay, you know, for smoking a joint.
I mean yeah, yeah, yeah, thatwas too much, but at the time
you know, man, you know you'redoing all right and you're just
trying to keep on going Allright.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
let's see Joey77.
Hey, joey, who's going to beJohn Cena's last match against
Teddy?

Speaker 2 (21:06):
I don't know, man, I have no idea.
Maybe it'll be Freddy Cougar.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Would you like to see him go out putting a young
talent over, or going out maybeeven winning?
I don't think he will, though Ithink John may end up on his
back like he should once he'sfinally finished in the ring.
But should it be a young guy,or should it be one of the vets
that he's known for years?

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Well, I would pass it along to one of the young guys,
a guy that's going to be coming.
You know, just breaking in andgot a great career ahead of him.
You know what I mean.
And what about laying down forhim?
You know it's not real.
So but leave the guy strong, you know, and give him something
you know to go in with.
You know, because that's theway it used to be.
You know, when you left theterritory, you put the guy over

(22:04):
it.
When he beat you, one, two, three go and you went right on
to the next territory.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
There's no guys argue about that back then.
No, they know it ain't real.
Okay, I'm leaving, I'm gone.
So what's the deal?
All right, let's see, we haveisaiah who writes and says I
read an article that suggeststhe rock and triple h have had
real heat over the years backwhen they were both performing.
Did they not get along?

Speaker 2 (22:23):
I just only heard rumors of that.
I never seen them past anywords or among each other and
nothing like that.
But that's just rumors.
You hear backstage and stuff,so I don't really know.
I can't speak on that.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
You know, I think a lot of times too, when we talk
about the Attitude Era, one ofthe things that we mention quite
a bit is that the roster backthen was deep.
I mean, you had a great rosterand they were all wanting that
top spot because they were allthat damn good.
So there may have been a lot ofcompetition back then.
They came across looking likethey may not like one another,

(22:58):
but the truth is it'sprofessional, it's you know.
Of course you want to getbetter than somebody else and
you eventually want to make moremoney and go up the ladder, and
that means sometimes that youmay not always see eye to eye
with the person you're workingwith.
Right?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
I look at it like this why can't we all just get
along?

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Yeah, it'd be nice.
All right, let's see Samanthawith another.
Now, this is one of those nameassociations, teddy, so get
ready.
By the way, if you have aquestion you want to get in here
before we leave out of here.
We do this for about 30 minutes.
You can get those questions into us right now and we'll throw
them up on the screen, but inthe meantime, teddy, let's do
some name association Samantha.
Let's do some name associationSamantha.
She sends these in from time totime.
The first one I'm not sureabout Balls Mahoney.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yeah, I remember him from ECW.
Yeah, balls Mahoney, yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
What about Balls?
Anything you can tell us aboutBalls, a memory or anything?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Oh he was just a real comical guy, real funny and
stuff man.
I enjoyed being around him.
I did get a chance to meet himfor a while, but he was a real.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
He was a real funny guy the other name I know you
probably have uh an opinionabout.
Uh he's from back from the olddays, barry windham oh yeah, oh
yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
had a chance to see him a couple of weeks ago in
indianapolis at that wrestlingfan fest there.
Yeah, I worked with Barry.
I'll tell you what.
Back when I was refereeing, Iworked with Barry Windham.
I refereed Barry Windham andBrad Armstrong in Spartanburg,
South Carolina.
They went 30-minute Broadwaythrough.
When I got back, every piece Ihad on was soaking wet.

(24:34):
I was like people that pouredwater on me and drowned me
because it was in that littlecoliseum and you know how hot it
is.
Oh yeah, but I did a 30-minuteBroadway with Brad Armstrong and
Barry Windham.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Man and both great workers too.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Oh right, and I had to go with them.
You know you got to move.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah, you know, and I've said this for anybody who's
a referee watches this JimmyCorderas, mike Chioda, any of
those guys.
I have said since I got intoindependent wrestling years ago
that the overlooked person inthe ring is the referee, because
they are in there.
When two guys go in there for amatch, we're going in there for

(25:13):
one match, one whatever18-minute match, whatever it may
be the referee.
In some cases, like in Teddy'scase, when you first started
getting into the NWA, you werethe only referee, so you had to
get up and down, up and down, and that is a lot of work for a
person who's never.
If you've never been in thering, you will never understand.

(25:34):
But it is very difficult tomove around and not get tired
out for the night sober.
All right, let's see the nextone on here.
Teddy is X-Pac.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Real nice guy, real nice guy, sean.
I always enjoy having aconversation with him.
I saw him also in Indianapolisa couple of weeks ago, man, and
he was signing, and I didn'twant to stop him.
So I looked at him and justwaved and he wouldn't let me do
that.
He grabbed me and brought me infor a hug.
So yeah, sean has always been anice guy too.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Is he still in great shape?

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Because the last time I saw him.
Yeah, he looked really good man.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Yeah, he looked great .
Yeah, here's one that I'mcurious about Umaga.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
I hadn't seen Umaga in quite a while.
I think the last time I spokewith him as I was running that
company out in Texas uh, scw, Ibelieve.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Now, umaga is not with us anymore, is he?

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Oh God, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Now I've got.
I'm confused, okay.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
That's all right.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
That's all right, but still still, I had a chance to
meet him too.
It was great.
He was always great too, man.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
I hope you didn't see him last weekend.
If you did, we need to talk tohim.
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
But I've been thinking about it.
I did see one of the Samoanguys there Okay, umaga, now I
got it.
I remember him, as a matter offact, one of those.
I met his son at Booker T'sshow the last time I worked out
at Relative Wrestling at BookerT and Booker was using him.
I think they put the belt onhim that night.

Speaker 2 (27:30):

He said, okay, now I got you, okay, uh, and he wants to know
who am I?

some kind of hint now to tellthe people that I'm intoxicated
or I'm not here.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
I'm just asking if you were hanging around him.

Speaker 3 (28:15):

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Zach saying Umaga is hands down, the greatest Samoan
and personally my favoriteSamoan.
I loved Umaga.
I liked the package on how theydid him.
They had.
Who was the guy that came outwith him, was it Al?
Oh, I can't remember his name.
He used to have a hat and acigar and he'd come out and, uh

(29:08):
man, if somebody, I know whoyou're talking about?

Speaker 2 (29:10):
I can't remember.
I know exactly he's the guythat I he was.
He was the GM for ECW and thenI went in behind him yeah, he
could.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
He could.
He can use a microphone, whichwas good.
You know he was capable ofdoing that.
He did a great job with Umaga.
He just made him into a monster.
Uh, we need more managers likethat.
I still say there we go.
I knew somebody was going tothrow this up.

I'll say this too, a lot ofpeople when Scott Hall went to
WWF and he would start doing thegimmick uh, semen, or something
that boogie warms or somethingthat talk, whatever.
He started doing that.
Uh, I'll tell you how thatstarted because I was with him.

We were in Oakland, california, and we was in there after we

accent come from.

All right, one more name andwe're out of here Teddy Kelly,
kelly.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Kelly, Kelly, Uh, yeah, she was real nice.
I always had a good attitudeabout the business, smiled and
laughed with everybody.

you know, she was just, she was,you know she was herself, you
know, and she was nice to bearound All right, teddy, we got

in.
What do you think has changedthe most about storytelling in
wrestling and what do you thinktoday's performers could learn
from your era?

Well, I don't think really, you know nothing.
Well, there's some things thathave changed, you know?

Oh, there's a shitload of stuff that have
changed.
It's just a different productnow.

Yeah, yeah I know, but golly, I hate to just try to
take away everything you know, but I mean, everything is really
pretty much gone.
You know, it's a brand-new eranow.
And the other thing at thebottom there, where you were
saying what do you think guyscould learn from people in the
attitude area, you could learn awhole hell of a lot, because
when the attitude I was evenbefore the attitude era okay.

(34:12):
So, yeah, you think I don'tknow what's been going on all
these years.
I just know how to keep mymouth shut and my ears open.
So that's how you play thisgame.
So you know, like I said, man,a lot of things have changed and
I think it's changing for thebest.
Guys have got a place to work.
They're making good money now.
So you know, god bless them.
