Teddy Long takes us behind the WWE curtain with revelations that will surprise even the most dedicated wrestling fans. In a candid moment, the Hall of Famer shares how he discovered he would become SmackDown General Manager mere minutes before walking through the curtain - a bombshell that exemplifies WWE's secretive approach to preventing storyline leaks.

The conversation shifts to heartfelt memories of the late Iron Sheik, with Teddy painting a picture of a man whose authenticity made him beloved backstage. "He was the real deal," Teddy explains, describing the Sheik's no-nonsense approach to both wrestling and life. Mac adds a humorous anecdote about wearing an Iron Sheik shirt to a medical appointment, where someone mistakenly thought he was supporting Iran politically - showcasing how wrestling characters can transcend the ring in unexpected ways.

When discussion turns to Vince McMahon's reported attempt to purchase Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, Teddy doesn't shy away from expressing continued loyalty to his former boss. This leads into a fascinating breakdown of Goldberg's upcoming match with Gunther, where both hosts speculate about potential finishes that could satisfy fans while protecting both superstars' credibility.

The mailbag segment reveals fascinating insights about Teddy's career, including his transition from referee to authority figure and how he navigated the sometimes treacherous waters of wrestling politics. Throughout it all, Teddy's wisdom about wrestling management shines through, particularly his thoughts on why modern WWE should employ just enough managers to enhance the show without overwhelming it.

Whether you're a longtime wrestling fan or new to the conversation, this episode delivers authentic, unfiltered perspectives from someone who lived through wrestling's most transformative eras. Speaker 1 (00:25):
you know I really like that music, but I wish it
would blend in a little bit tothe show so it wasn't so abrupt
when they cut it out.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
That music is horrible.
Okay, Please, I'm begging you.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
It's the only kind we can use on this particular
program.
We can't use like the boots onthe ground.
I know that you like, becausewe'll get served with that, so
we've got to be careful.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Well get, well, let's get served.
They'll just give us a warningyeah, that's all they'll do.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Hello again, everybody.
Welcome to wrestling's roadtrip after hours.
I'm your host, mac davis, andthat, of course, is wwe hall of
famer.
Mr teddy, how you doing All theplayers, all the holla.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Let me straighten up here.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, get that camera straight, will you?
Okay, Let me tell you a littlestory before we get into today's
show.
A couple of things actually.
Do you see the shirt I got on?
I don't know if you can hear me.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, I can see a little of it.
It's the Iron, sheep Iron.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Sheep, I believe it.
Yeah, I make you humble.
Um, super baby, I wore thattoday, uh, and I had to go in
for pre-op surgery.
Remind me to tell you aboutthis.
But anyway, I'm going in forpre-op and somebody actually
says are you an iran supporter?
And they were dead serious.

(01:39):
And I said, excuse me.
They said are you, uh, do youthink iran is in the right?
Do you think Iran is in theright or do you think they're in
the wrong?
I mean, they started giving mecrap and I said, hey, look, look
, I didn't even think about that.
I said this is a wrestler.
I know who he is.
I watched him.
He was an evil Iranian and hethought it was real.
Teddy, he was not happy withthe T-shirt.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I told him.
I said I'm sorry, I, you know, didn't mean to defend anybody.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Well, whether you know it or not, the iron sheik
was real.
Yes, he was a legit he was thebodyguard right, yeah, he was.
He was a bodyguard long beforehe got into wrestling and uh and
uh from iran for the shah ofiran.
So yeah, he had a legitbackground, uh, but the iron
sheik one of those characters,teddy.
I really miss that kind ofcharacter in wrestling today.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, me too man.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
We don't have those.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
No, he was.
And then you know, like I mean,he was the real deal.
That's what I liked about him.
You know, he didn't put on ornothing fake about it, man, he'd
tell you how he felt.
If't like you, he let you know.
So the Sheik was just a greatguy to even be around because he
was so funny man and he wasgood morale for the boys.
Man, he was great.
God rest his soul.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
And some of the outtakes I've seen him do with
Mean Gene Oakland and in theSheik bloopers and outtakes from
those things, hilarious stuff.
And the last time I saw Sheik Iwas at one of the FanFest.
And Last time I saw Sheik I wasat one of the fan fests and he
had his granddaughter with himand she was following him around
everywhere he went and he hadthe little scooter you know
where you sit down and he'd justkind of scoot around.

(03:11):
I'm going down a hallway andthere's people trying to get out
of the way and I'm not surewhat's going on.
But all of a sudden I lookstraight up and coming directly
in my direction, coming right atme in his scooter, full, wide
open, is the Iron Sheik.
Move my brother.
And I just jumped out the way,but I thought, man, that's just

(03:32):
nothing but the Sheik.
And I kept thinking, man, heshould have let him run me over.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
That would have been a hell of a story, right?
Oh, that's classy, classy Sheik.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
One more thing.
When I went in for pre-op today, teddy, you might have had this
something maybe you've gotexperience with but they hand me
this bottle of wash.
Now I'm not sure what the hellthe wash is for.
At first I thought it was likesome kind of medicine I had to
take.
Is it pink?

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yes, yeah, that's what you have to.
Before you go in that night, you take a bath, you use that,
and then that morning you takeanother shower and you use that
again.
So you use that before you goin for surgery.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Well, I'm asking the lady at the counter.
She says okay, and she goesthrough this little list of
things about this wash, and oneof them is do not get it in your
eyes, your ears, in yourprivates or in your anal hole.
Teddy, I looked at her and Isaid look here, how am I
supposed to stand up in theshower, apply the stuff on my

(04:29):
chest, you know, and wash upwhere it's not?
Everything goes down.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
You know as gravity I had to do it, man, you can do
it, I'm telling you, man please, that's like another thing, yeah
, yeah.
Because if you don't, man, they'll delay it because they'll
know you didn't use it.
So I'm telling you, man, yeah, you'll see when it comes out.
It's really not too.
You know, it's kind of thick, like.
You know you'll be able tocontrol it.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
She told me it would be sticky right after you first
get out of the shower.
After you use it, it'll getkind of sticky, but it'll dry up
and it won't be so stickyanymore.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Well, won't be so sticky anymore, but I, I don't
know, I never experienced that.
Yeah, man, I just shower withit, I used it and uh, everything
and that was it.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Yeah, and then she says don't use deodorant, like
okay, that's, that's your worry,not mine.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Now, all right, let's talk about somebody never tell
me, don't use deodorant oh yeah, she said no deodorant, no
lotions, uh anything oh gee, well, you had a real one there,
you know.
Yeah, she's back in the day, yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Let's see Vince McMahon, teddy, he's back in the
news.
At first, it's been reportedthat Vince made an offer to
purchase a controlling interestin Bare Knuckle Fighting
Championship, but according toDavid Feldman, who's with that
group, he says the whole teamand Vince was great, but the

(05:47):
timing just wasn't right for us.
There are reportedly as well, teddy, several executives in
both combat sports and prowrestling, as well as TKO, that
believe Vince McMahon will beinvolved in the sports and
entertainment world again.
In fact, many are saying thatMcMahon already has plans set in

(06:10):
motion to make his way back.
Your thoughts.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Well, I certainly hope so, man, I certainly hope
so.
Like I said, I know people mayget tired of it, but the man is
the reason I'm where I am todayand I want to thank him again.
So, uh, whatever he decides todo, I know will be the right
thing.
Uh, maybe it's a little revengeon some people that, uh, that
he may thought of kind ofmessing around a little bit.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
So, uh, I I'm just glad to see he's making a
comeback and if there's any wayI can help him, you know I'll be
, I'll be happy to yeah, I'd becurious to see and I've said
this from the from the beginningand, teddy, I know you have too
and there's a lot of people whohave a really hard time, uh,
believing us when we say this, but in this country, a person is

(06:55):
innocent until they're provenguilty.
Uh, I believe that now is therea lot of evidence out there and
things that are being thrownaround said about Vince McMahon
that are horrible in some cases, yeah, but it's just being
thrown around.
We don't know that it's real.
We don't know that any of thatactually happened.
Not saying it didn't, didn'tsay it is, but I know that the

(07:15):
person you talk about when we'reon this show is the person you
dealt with while you were in WWE, right, exactly, and I think
people need to remember thatbecause people get oh, no, no,
teddy's taking up for Vince, teddy's taking up for a man that
he only knows the way he knowshim and that's it.
He doesn't know anything aboutit.
All the other stuff, yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Like I said, I got nothing to do with whatever that
stuff he's involved in and myopinion is this, like I've
always yes, so you know, wedon't know what's going to
happen at the end of this trial.
There may be some other peoplemay be involved and stuff we
don't know.
So I'm not going to look at itlike this man has already done
this, because I don't know thatand uh go ahead.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I was going to say the one thing that maybe you
know, vince.
You know you work with him, soyou probably do know better than
I do.
But when you have a case likethis, is he the type that's
going to try to prove himselfinnocent, or do you think he'll
stroke a check and just let itgo away?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
He'll try and prove himself innocent because you
know, like I said, he should dothat If he's innocent, then he
should fight for his case.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yep, yep I'm just wondering if he uh just writes
that check, that maybe he canget things rolling without
having to worry about the caseanymore.
But uh, yeah, vince is alwaysthe type of person and things
I've heard about him.
He's very vindictive, verycompetitive and I just can't
imagine, uh, that you knowsomething's not going to happen
with vince where he's not goingto fight for himself and prove
that.
You know, this isn't whatpeople were saying.

(08:44):
Um, let me ask you about areturn.
Now, back in WWE, we getGoldberg, who has returned, and
he'll be facing Gunther atSaturday night's main event.
Does this match do anything foryou, teddy?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
A little bit of interest.
I'm interested to see howGoldberg's looking.
I know he's been on NXT doingsome training, getting himself
back in shape and getting ready.
He's been out of the ring for awhile.
So I'm just kind of interestedin watching him to see if he's
learned a little bit how to slowdown and not hurt anybody.
Because I mean, the guy's anice guy.
I mean, as far as I'm concerned, I got along with him.

(09:21):
He guy's a nice guy.
I mean for as I'm concerned, Igot along with him.
He had to have no problem.
And I think that whenever he,you know, did something where it
was a shoot on somebody, Idon't think he meant that man,
he would, you know, because hewouldn't try to hurt anybody on
purpose.
So but in the wrestlingbusiness, you know, things
happen.
So maybe now you know he's gota little bit better, he's
learned how to work a little bitbetter and everything.
I'm pretty sure this may be hislast run.

(09:44):
I don't see him wanting to justkeep taking bumps at a certain
age in life.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
He's 58 years old.
I did a return.
When I came back I was 52, Ibelieve it was Teddy.
That's hard when you don't doit on a regular basis.
That's really difficult theolder you get, especially when
it comes to air.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
And I think the other thing with him too.
Now he has a son there and he'swanting to do good with his kid
and everything.
And his kid has grown up enoughnow to he understands the
business so not totally, but heunderstands what his dad is
doing.
So I think the other thing too, when he does come back, I think
they need to work a spot inthere where they do something

(10:28):
with his kid or somethinginvolve him, get him involved
and continue from there.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Let me ask you.
I've heard different people saythat they expect that Goldberg
is going to do the honors, andthen there's another group out
there saying, no, they're goingto put that belt back on
Goldberg and gave him a shortrun again.
Do you feel like Goldbergshould go out, you know, doing
the honors on his back, orshould he go out as a champion,

(10:56):
as a winner of a match?
Let's put it that way.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well, I don't think he's coming in to be a loser.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
I don't either.
I just wonder how that willtake.
Will the fans take to him, at58 years of age, of being that
champion?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Well, you know, I don't know.
I look at it like this.
You know what I mean.
They got to do a program here.
So I'm saying, you know, maybeat the end of this thing maybe
Goldberg does get the 1-2-3, butthen there may be some stuff
during the aftermath, so we'lljust have to see how they work
this out.
You know what I mean.
There may not be a 1-2-3.

(11:29):
There may be something wherethey send some guys down, ding
ding, ding, ding, ding DQ.
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Goldberg gets to win that way by not having to pin
the guy.
I guess we'll find out soonenough, because that show's
coming up in Atlanta.
That'll be an Atlanta program,so it'll be right up the road
from Teddy, down the road fromTeddy and up the road from me.
Steve Morris, popping in, bythe way, if you want to be a
part of the show, all you got todo is just drop us a question.
You don't need a super chat, super sticker, none of that.
You can talk to us free.
Just simply leave your questiondown below and we'll throw it

(12:01):
up on the screen.
Steve, we sure need somethingnew.
I just watched a damn 10-manand a 14-man tag team match.
I was looking for Teddy to comeout with Undertaker Teddy.
There does seem at times likewe get these huge groups of

(12:22):
people in these multi-tag team, you know matches.
Is that because of time?
They just can't find the timeto get these tag teams in
various parts of the show, sothey cram them all together in
one.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Well, I don't think it really works like that.
I mean, I think when they writethat show, they're probably
going to do something, maybewith a 10-man tag team.
You're trying to do somethingdifferent.
You know, tag matches are justfour guys.
You've seen that on and on andon.
So you know, would you get sixeight-man tag team matches,
Something a little bit different?
So it just gives peoplesomething different to watch.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Let's see Jim Hoffer.
Hey Jim, good to see you inhere.
My friend, he's in St Louis, would know who he is the one
time.
I'm hoping there's a run in,maybe Jey Uso, and that I guess
he's talking about the matchbetween boy man.
My mind just went blank.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Goldberg and Gunther.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Hey man, you know it's been a long day hey you
know what.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
You know what would be good, and I know they won't
do this, but what would be goodis doing this.
Goldberg-gunther, the guy thatI would have running would be
Bret Hart.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
You know and you were touching on that a minute ago
that you don't think Goldbergever meant to hurt anybody on
purpose.
And Bret Hart is the guy thathas always been so vocal about
goldberg, uh, saying that heruined his career and he held a
grudge against anybody.
There's the money yeah, yeah,and that's why I'm saying I can

(13:54):
see the connection and whyyou're making that connection
now.
Uh, yeah, and I'd like to seethat somehow get repaired
because, quite honestly, one ofthe things about bret hart and I
know you love bret hart and Ihave nothing against bret hart,
but I always have seen him as aguy who always just seems so
disgruntled about the business-you know, that kind of guy and

(14:14):
he's putting down you knowgoldberg and always bitching and
complaining about what he didto his life.
I just don't think it was meanton purpose.
Just like you.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Right, well, brett's just old school man.
You know what I mean.
So you know Brett is settinghis ways and that's how it's
going to be, and not only Brett,a lot of guys that's been
around the business as long ashim and I.
You know we're old school man.
You know sometimes we're justto learn.
Now Things have changed.
It's the 20th century man, soyou just got to change with, you

(14:45):
know.
Get in tune.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Were you in WCW when Goldberg first started or were
you already gone?
Yeah, no, I was there.
What was the reaction of theguys in the back about his push
and getting you know all of asudden, all these wins, one
after the other.
There had to be some guys inthe back that didn't appreciate
that wins one after the other.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
There had to be some guys in the back that didn't
appreciate that I hadn't beenthat long enough to get in a
position to hear.
None of that, you know.
Back then, you know I had towatch my own back.
So you know I, you know I wouldnever let in on those kind of
conversations.
I was all kind of kayfabe then, but as time grown you know what
I mean.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Then that's when I, you know I, I graduated, yeah I
just can't help but think thatthe guys in the back who came
into the business uh, the oldway, seeing this guy just show
up and all of a sudden beatingand pinning everybody in a
matter of moments uh, that hadto be rough, uh, in the back of
some of those guys.
Well, that.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
You know that's what it was with the luger.
You know at the time when lugercame in, you know he had
contract.
He was the only guy had one,and so you know when the guys
found out about that you canimagine.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh yeah, oh God, yeah , let's see we got David
stopping by and saying hello.
Uh, we also have, I think.
Uh, yeah, renee, she's stoppingin saying hey, mac and Teddy,
good to see you.
Uh, we also.
Uh, see, david is, maybe SethRollins will cash in if Goldberg
wins.
And now, teddy, I want to say, maybe when we did Sportskeeda's

(16:10):
show the other day with BillApter, he may have mentioned
that that could be a possibilitywhere Goldberg beats Gunther,
but just as he celebrates hiswin, seth Rollins cashes in on
Goldberg and walks away at theend of the night as the champion
.
That, actually, I would be okaywith.
How about you?

Speaker 2 (16:29):
I would too.
That's not bad at all.
Not bad at all, and it doesn'thurt.
Goldberg.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
No, no, he still gets that last championship win.
And he gets screwed right atthe very end, which nobody will
ever really remember, that, except for Seth Rollins fans
yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
But it doesn't, it won't hurt him.
You know what I mean.
Like I tell you all the time,it's not how you win matches,
it's how you lose them.
Yep.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Joe Abel popping into the room here.
Joe, it's been a while.
I hope everything's good withyou.
He says, hello, wrestlingcon, maybe next year.
Yeah, I saw where the RiverCity WrestlingCon announced that
they will be coming back againnext year about the same weekend
as it was this year.
So more information coming onthat as we get closer to it.
But it just got over, so it'sgoing to be a while.

(17:12):
Let's see Renee Adams sayingshe is wonderful and Jim talking
about that idea, with SethRollins saying he'd be okay with
it.
I really think that it's reallya good idea.
That's creative enough that itwould keep my interest.
To be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And that keeps them up with the time.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, that brings Goldbergright into 20th century.
Right on in there.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Yep, All right guys, let's see real quick.
We got to get that mailbagopened up here.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Letters.
Oh, we get letters.
We get your letters every day.
Mailman, mailman, mail.
Today, reach right in and pullone out.
Oh, letters, I love thoseletters, let's find out what
you've got to say.
Oh boy Mailman.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Mail today.
All right, let's see, Teddy.
Our first question comes fromAmanda on X, who writes how did
Vince approach you aboutbecoming the SmackDown general
manager?
Sure?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Well, he didn't.
The night that that happened Ididn't know that until five
minutes before I went in thering.
I was there all day long.
They never told me anythingabout it.
And the reason I found outabout that the reason they did
that back then because they hada lot of guys that as soon as
they found out something they'dgo straight on social media and
get it out there and then peoplewould know what's going on even

(18:48):
before it even happened.
So I think that's the reasonthat I wasn't told until then.
But what happened is about fiveminutes before I got ready to
walk out, vince walked up to meand told me I was going to be a
general manager of SmackDown.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Now I know you're not going to show him your reaction
, but your reaction inside atthe time was holy crap.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Well, no, Well inside me.
Well one.
Well, no, what's inside me?
Well, one thing I know I reallygot frightened, I got scared,
I'm like oh my.
God, you know what I mean, cause I'm like you know, because
I know what this position isand I know what has to happen
here.
You know what I mean.
So I really got scared, but Ithink after the first night I
walked out, I got the shakes offof me and everything, so I kind

(19:32):
of got over it.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
All right, let's see.
We have Curly man popping insaying hi, mac and Teddy, how
you doing players, I'm doinggreat.
And, by the way, I did send outthat shirt again for everybody
who's waiting on a shirt.
Everybody should have one.
If you don't have one by theend of the week, contact me.
But everybody should have theirshirts.
Zach Minger popping in sayinghappy Juneteenth.

(19:56):
And let's see Also we have.
Renee.
You guys have a wonderfulevening.
Thank you, renee, I hope you doas well.
Here's another questionReginald in South Dakota.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Did you ever sustain any injuries during your time in
wrestling?
I believe one time I sufferedan injury.
I think I was a referee andwhen I went to Vince I first
went there and I remember I wasa referee in a match with Big
Show and he grabbed me and henever told me and he grabbed me
just out of the blue to get tothrow me out of the ring.
Well, he grabbed me and threwme so quick that I didn't even
have a chance to grab the secondrope to try to break my fall.

(20:37):
I went straight through manright on the concrete there and
I never will forget that was thenight too.
I walked back in the gorilla andVince said to me he said don't
you ever let anybody grab youand throw you like that again.
And I was just trying to tellhim I didn't even know he was
going to grab me just out of theblue.
So that's something, thatlittle bit of injury, and I
don't know.
I might've had some when I wasmanaging or something, but there

(21:00):
wasn't that where I was becauseI wasn't taking no whole lot of
bumps or nothing.
You know what I mean.
So I think all my injuries likefatigue.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Herb Simmons is.
Herb simmons is popping insaying uh hello, hey, herb good
to have you in the room.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
We appreciate it.
Hope everything's going good.
Thank you, herb.
Thank you once again.
That's our man, herb simmons, out of st louis, over there with
the sicw uh fan fest.
They do there every year and sothis year they moved it into
right into st louis and I'm surethat's where it's going to be
next year.
And, like I said, I believe ifthe tornado hadn't happened
there, things would have been alot better, but they were good.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Don't get me wrong.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
But, like I said, I believe that now that we're in
St Louis, the heart of wrestling, the soul of wrestling, I think
the people are really going tocome out and show their
appreciation.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Yeah, Unfortunately, the weather just did not
cooperate that particularweekend.
The shows are always fantasticand it still was for those who
could come, but the weather wasso bad and I know they've been
having a lot of that lately.
There are a lot of storms andtornadoes in that area, so
everybody in the St Louis andthe surrounding areas stay safe

(22:05):
out there.
If they tell you thatsomething's coming, I've seen
some of these storms on videolive when it's going down.
Man, they are just monsters outthere lately, so be really
careful, real quick.
Herb may know something moreabout this too, but there's a
little bit of a stink going onright now and it involves Abdua
the Butcher and his book.
Now somebody wrote a book butshouldn't have wrote a book.

(22:29):
It's something along thoselines.
Abby's not getting anything forthis book on Abdua, even though
there was supposed to be anagreement between the two.
I don't know what it is, herb,if you know, I would like at
some point, maybe next week, ifwe have a chance, to kind of
talk about that when I know moreabout it, because from what I'm
gathering, abby's gettingscrewed, uh, by somebody who's

(22:52):
claiming things that just aren'ttrue, and I know, herb, you've
got some information and some uhevidence when it comes to that
as well.
So I mean, I just hate to seeanybody, especially like abby,
uh, somebody taking advantage ofhim, and I hope that's not the
case.
Yeah, all right, let's see.
Uh, we got, uh, let me get somemore of these in here.
Excuse me, we have 40 ounceC-Dub.

(23:14):
Hey brother, goldberg gotwhooped bad in Atlanta, so bad
that someone from Georgia comesout to stop Gunther, aj Styles,
cody Rhodes, austin Theory orRoman Reigns does it because of
the playing for GT, georgia Techand the Football Brotherhood,
even though Goldberg played forthe University of Georgia.

(23:34):
I think that's a long stretch,teddy.
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (23:38):
Well, I don't think they're going to go that far.
You know what I mean.
If you're going to do something, then maybe I'd have some of
the Georgia players or somethingyou know, at ringside you know
front row seats and then maybesomething happens and maybe a
couple of them try to getinvolved and we put you know
they're pushing them back, getting them back.
That's really all you need forthat, right there.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Good to see you, brother.
That's Chris.
I know who that is Prettyclassy lady popping in and
saying hey, and she's alsoasking here.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Teddy, who picked your groomsman when you married
Crystal on Smackdown, who wasthe groomsman?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I don't even remember .

Speaker 2 (24:17):
I imagine Ron had to be one of them oh okay, we
picked Ron Godfather and then myson was in it and was JBL
involved.
No, it was just Ron Godfather.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
I know my son, antoine, was in it and I think
it was JBL.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
No, no, it was just Ron's father.
I know my son, antoine, was init.
I think I came up with that, especially with my son, you know
, by being, you know, a wedding.
So I had a little bit to dowith it.
But I think the writers andstuff, they basically, you know,
did that all.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Pete Rosen popping in and saying, of course, sicw
rocks.
They have Lucky P Larson.
Unfortunately, he is themanager of the Stars and surely
Teddy's favorite current manager.
I had a question in heresomewhere.
I think yeah, we do.
Let me get to that.
While we're talking aboutmanagers here.

(25:08):
Thank you, pete.
Irene on X is asking that.
While we're talking aboutmanagers here.
Thank you, pete.
Um irene uh on x is asking Iheard you guys talking about
this is on a different show, talking about managers on the
other show.
What are teddy's thoughts onmanagers in wrestling and should
wrestling go back to them,teddy?

Speaker 2 (25:26):
well, I think it's always good to have a manager.
You know what I mean.
It really helps.
Sometimes it's according to youknow what role he's in.
You know too, like I said, managers were basically back in
the day, were for guys.
That was tough in the ring butthey couldn't talk.
So they always have a guy totalk.
That's the way my role was whenI had Butch Reed and Ron

(25:46):
Simmons.
Those two guys could talk, don't get me wrong.
But Butch Reed and Ron Simmons, those two guys can talk, don't
get me wrong.
But I just had that swag, youknow what I mean.
And so I just talked it up andthey did.
You know what I said.
So I think it's great to havethem.
I think it is.
I don't think you need to have awhole lot like it was back in
the day.
You used to have three or fourmanagers.
You know that's way too many.
You know you know maybe three,no more than that.

(26:07):
You know that's enough rightthere, because you can always,
you know, get, you can start alittle few between your managers
.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Oh, you know, there's a story right there yeah, and
you would think, with today'swrestling focusing more on
entertainment than there is theaction in the ring, a lot of
times, like you say, it's e inthat name for a reason it's
entertainment.
You would think that managershaving a couple more people
other than just paul hayman whocan use a microphone and really
electrify a crowd and make themhate him or love him one or the

(26:35):
other, I'm surprised that theydon't do that, because that is
entertainment.
Well, doesn't surprise me.
Let's see Herb Simmons.
He is commenting back aboutthat Abby situation.
He said he'd be glad to.
He just did an interview.
Commenting back about that Abbysituation.
He said he'd be glad to.
He just did an interview.
Herb, I'll get with you in thenext couple of days and we'll
set that up so we can talk aboutwhatever that is that's going

(26:55):
on there, with Abby and Chrisback in here saying hey, mac, I
saw some of your good brothersSaturday at Larry Otto for their
TV taping.
I actually ran one of thecameras.
I'm sorry, that means thatthing's gonna be out of focus.

(27:18):
Uh, big things happening, hesays.
But uh, good, good to know.
Well, you tell him keep his dayjob.
Yeah, keep your day job.
That's what teddy says.
Uh, zach, in the room too.
Hey, zach, mac and teddy, howyou doing?
We're doing great good player.
And he also is saying that weneed more managers nowadays.
Uh, and let's see herb.
Uh, now, this is a guy oldpromoter here that knows his
stuff and herb saying too manymanagers take away from them.
Uh, meeting some of the talent.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah that's what I just said.
You don't need to.
You know, like back in the dayyou had gary hart, then you had
scandal agbar, you had two orthree guys come out on the same
show.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah, yeah you know yeah that's what I was saying.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Yeah, that that those managers do take away from the
guys yeah, I miss.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
You know there are legendary managers out there
over time, and it all depends onwhere you watch wrestling,
because some of the managers Imay mention you've never heard
of and vice versa, uh, but Ialways did enjoy a good manager.
But you don't need in a, youdon't like you say, you don't
need a roster full of them, youjust need a sprinkling of them
in there to keep the flow going, and I think that, again, it's

(28:14):
entertainment and it's somethinggood to have for the people who
need it, people like now we sawthe other day where Bill After
did not like Solo Sokoa on hisown without a microphone being
held by somebody else.
He had mentioned that hethought he needed a manager.
Teddy, I don't think so, fatu,he has an energy and an

(28:35):
intensity about him that I don'tthink a manager could pull off,
do you?

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Well, I think the manager would just be in the way
.
I think he needs to be byhimself and you'll see he can
talk.
Okay, he's a guy that just youdon't get it right away.
He has to grow on you andyou'll see he'll get as as they
put him out there, and herealizes that.
You know, I got to do this onmy own, I got to learn these
provos and he'll get better.
That's what I'm saying.

(28:59):
I just don't think he needs,needs somebody.
That's him with that ruggedlook that he's got.
He just needs to be there byhimself and talk his own game.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Yeah, and I still contend.
For those of you who do notknow Jacob Fatu other than what
you've seen in WWE, I'm tellingyou he doesn't need somebody to
hold a microphone for him, youjust need to let him be him and
he'll come across.
He's actually done some greatpromos in WWE.
If you go back and watch him,if you don't think they have, go
in the back.
Some of the backstage promoshe's done are very good and

(29:38):
right on target of who he is.
He knows that.
He knows what to have to dothis.
Yeah, uh, let's see we, uh, pete, uh, popping back in here.
Uh, for what it's worth, I haveseen glucky get so much heat as
a manager that he feared forhis safety.
Uh, I believe that I thinkmanagers add to the story that
the match tries to tell.
I agree with Teddy that everymatch doesn't need one, but
there should be one or two.
And yeah, pete, I think we allagree on that.

(29:59):
I think we need some.
We just don't need too many.
And also, we have Zach poppingin.
Solo is perfect, just the wayhe is.
And I agree, teddy, we're outof time.
We just actually a little bitover.
But man, I've enjoyed thistoday and I love when everybody
gets in the room and askquestions, because that's one of
my favorite parts of the showand, speaking of which, every

(30:21):
week, teddy picks someone as ourwinner of a Road Trip After
Hours t-shirt for the questionof the week.
Teddy, who are we going to givethis to?

Speaker 2 (30:30):
for the question of the week.
Teddy, who are we going to givethis to?
I don't remember the name, butthe person that called in and
wanted to know how quick did Iknow I was going to be General
Manager for SmackDown.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Yep, that came from X , I believe.
Yeah, that's Amanda on X.
So, Amanda, congratulations Allright, Thank you.
Amanda, excuse me, I'm about tolose my voice here.
Teddy, talk a little bit, willyou?
What is going?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
on.
You and Bill After are doingsome kind of unknown drug and
y'all are not telling anybodyabout it, I'm telling you
there's too much resemblance.
You two are just doing the samestuff.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Look here, I had somebody that came up to our
table too, talking aboutresemblance when Teddy and I are
together.
You know what I want to sayalready, don't you?
Yeah?
And people come up and ifTeddy's gone, they'll say
where's Teddy?
And I say, well, he'll be backin a minute, but I'm his twin
brother, can I help you?
And they just look at me for aminute.

(31:28):
We're both bald.
We both got the goatees goingon.
I mean, we're about the sameage.
Well, teddy's a little bitolder.
You know, he rolled out thefirst wheel, the stone wheel,
when it came out.
Uh, teddy, I'm out of here.
Brother, I've enjoyed this.
I know you had a great timethis past week.
You had your banana pudding.
I'm jealous because I didn'tget any.
Yeah, but you know, god, we gotsome more stuff in here, teddy.

(31:49):
We just can't get to it.
If I get to it, we're going tostart a whole other night.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
It does say, though Eric Heelbiz does say Teddy, you
need to start being more niceto Mac.
Well, Eric, I think you need tomind your own business.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Hey everybody, we appreciate you coming by and
visiting us again this week.
We do this every Thursday night, 7 o'clock Eastern time, for
