Thunder rumbles outside, but inside the virtual studio of Road Trip After Hours, the wrestling talk crackles with electricity as Mac Davis and WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long settle in for another engaging episode. The pair kicks things off with SummerSlam predictions, offering expert analysis on the most anticipated matchups of WWE's summer spectacle.

Teddy doesn't hold back his admiration for performers like Jade Cargill, who he believes will dethrone Tiffany Stratton, and Jelly Roll, who's been diligently training at NXT to prepare for his in-ring debut. When discussing Gunther versus CM Punk, Teddy provides fascinating insight into character development: "I don't think Gunther needs the belt to impress anybody. You can look at him—he's got a look that scares you." This sparks a broader conversation about how championships enhance certain wrestlers while others command presence regardless of title status.

The mailbag segment unveils remarkable stories from Teddy's storied career, including his surprising revelation about WWE performance venues: "When I was in WWE, we were in Fort Worth, Texas, and that's where we was in a barn. There were horses, everything was in this place while we were wrestling there." This shatters the misconception that unusual venues are strictly the domain of independent wrestling, demonstrating how even the biggest promotion sometimes embraces unconventional settings.

Perhaps the most heartwarming moment comes when Teddy shares the story of bombing a promo after forgetting the word "episodic" that Vince McMahon specifically wanted emphasized. Rather than facing anger, Teddy recalls McMahon laughing it off with advice he never forgot: "If something happens out there live, then it was meant to be." This glimpse into the supportive relationship between the chairman and his talent reveals the human side of an often-misunderstood industry.

Want to be part of the conversation? Join us live every Thursday at 7:00 PM and drop your questions in the comments. No super chats required—just bring your curiosity, and Teddy will answer anything you throw his way!

Speaker 1 (00:14):
boom, boomity, boom, there we go.
Hey, teddy, how you doing thisweek, my friend I'm doing good
man.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
We're just sitting here, uh, waiting on the storms
and things to go away.
It's been really stormingpretty bad.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Whoa, really, you've got storms up that way, yeah.
Damn we haven't had any here.
We have been dry as a bone.
The grass is brown.
It's crunchy under your feet.
We're waiting for some of thatrain and storms to get down this
way, as long as they're notdestructive.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, we had it last week.
Well, not last week, I meanlast night.
It was really bad Thunder andlightning all last night, and
then we got some today about 6o'clock.
I was taking Rufus to run andwe got caught right in it, God,
dog.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
yeah, we get rained around here like I get.
You know, the hoop-dee-doo fromthe wife.
You know I get it almost everyday, almost Monday, almost
Tuesday, almost Wednesday.
Hey, let's talk aboutSummerSlam before we get into
the mailbag here, Teddy, whileeverybody gets into the room.
And, by the way, if you'd liketo be a part of the show, all
you have to do is leave acomment.

(01:16):
You don't have to get a supersticker or any of that kind of
stuff.
All you have to do is ask aquestion.
Teddy will answer any questionyou throw his way.
Whether you like it or not,he'll answer that question.
So it's that simple but realquick, Teddy.
Before we get into all that, let's talk about SummerSlam
matches and some of the biggerones, and that being, first of

(01:36):
all, champion Tiffany Strattonup against Jade Cardio.
What do you think is going tohappen in this?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well, I think you're going to see an outstanding
match.
I've seen both of these ladiesin action.
They both are great competitorsin the ring.
I mean, you're going to see ahell of a match and, in my
opinion, I do think Jay Coddellwill come out on top.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, I'm curious to see what they do here because
I'm not exactly sure what willhappen, but this is SummerSlam
and this is one of their bigevents, so they put a lot into
these matches when we get intothem.
Uh, let's see the other matchnow.
Here's a tag team match that Ireally am curious to see what
they do with it.
Uh, it's Randy Orton and JellyRoll versus Logan Paul and Drew

(02:16):
McIntyre.
Now I I thought from the get-gothat Jelly Roll should have
been the one receiving a lot ofthe abuse going into this match.
Do you think we're going to seeRandy Orton and Jelly Roll pull
out a win here?
Or do you think, because of allthe grace that Jelly Roll has
been getting lately, maybe it'shis turn to take something?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Well, I think Jelly Roll and Randy will come out on
top.
I really do.
Jelly Roll, you have to givehim credit, I mean the guy's.
I mean he looks phenomenal.
He's lost a lot of weight, man.
He's been down at NXT gettingin the ring, getting himself in
shape and getting ready for allthis.
So you gotta give him creditfor that.
And, like I said, I've justwatched him his body language

(03:00):
and stuff.
I think he's gonna do a hell ofa job.
And Logan Paul I also like himtoo.
So this is going to be a greatmatch.
It's going to be realentertaining, but it's also
going to be a good match too.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Another one of the big matches, of course, is the
champion, gunther, up against CMPunk, and man, I like both of
these guys, so there can't be aloser here to me.
I just don't see, though, cmPunk winning over Gunther.
I think they need to keep thatbelt on Gunther longer to make
him stronger.
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, Gunther is pretty strong now.
I mean, I don't know how muchstronger you want him to be.
Like I said, our business nowis based on entertainment, so
you know what I mean.
It's not the old school.
So to see CM Punk come out ontop, you know, that wouldn't
surprise me at all.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
You know, I don't think it hurts CM Punk to lose
the match.
He doesn't need the belt, whereas I think Gunther.
I think the belt helps hispresentation.
Let's just say that becausethey bring him across like a
Brock Lesnar.
He's just a badass.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Well, that's what I'm saying With Gunther, you know I
like your opinion, you know, but I don't think he needs the
belt to impress anybody.
I mean, you can look at him,he's got just a look that scares
you.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
So I don't think Gunther needs the belt either to
establish himself.
I think he's pretty muchestablished.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I think they could really use him in that role of
Brock Lesnar, the way they usedto bring him in occasionally.
You didn't see him all the timeand when he came in you knew
business was about to pick up.
You know, that's just how itwas and I like to see that.
And I do see that sometimespeople complain that, well, you
don't see a certain wrestlerweek after week or you know,
from one pay-per-view to thenext.

(04:39):
Back in the territory days thathappened all the time.
Back in the territory days.
That happened all the time.
People just rotated out of theterritory and went somewhere
else so that everybody feltfresh when the stories were
going.
They would disappear for awhile and they would come back
and make another impact.
Right, Right, that's what Iwish we would do more of today.
Another match, real fast BeckyLynch versus Io Sky versus Rhea

(05:02):
no, no, no, I'm sorry.
Who is it?
Becky Lynch versus Io Skyversus Rhea?
No, no, no, I'm sorry.
Who is it Becky Lynch?
I can't remember who she'sfacing.
I don't have it down.
Becky Lynch is facing somebody.
We'll hope she does the best.
Anyhow, here's the one I wantedto get to Io Sky, Rhea Ripley
and Naomi who is the champion.
This has been a fun thing towatch.
And when you got eo sky, aformer champion, rhea ripley, a

(05:27):
former champion, and naomi andher championship, now where do
you go with this?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
you go straight to the bank.
Yeah, this is a tough one here.
You got real ripping, like yousay.
You got former champions inthere and these girls.
That one thing you can knowwhen they step in there, they're
hungry and they letting youknow it.
So this one here to me, I think, would be too close to call.
I just don't know.
But I'm certainly I can't waitto watch it.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, you know, when it came to the girls and I was
giving them a hell about some ofthe uh, the talent in the
female division not too long ago, and when they had their
evolution pay-per-view justrecently, man, I, I was, uh, you
know, I owned up.
The girls are much better thanI thought they were.
They were doing a hell of a job, and here's what I think I
think they're trying to to showthat they're just as good as the

(06:14):
guys some of them are betterthan the guys yes, and that's
what I was about to say.
There are certain individuals onthat roster and the female
roster that are better than themajority of the guys on the guys
roster.
Right, it just is what it is.
All right, here's the big uhmain event, teddy, that we'll
talk about, and then we'll uhget into the mailbag here, main
event being john cena versuscody rhodes, and john cena is

(06:39):
the champion.
Do you see cody dethroning JohnCena?

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Well, I don't know this one here, you know Cena's
kind of confusing.
You know he says he's retiringand he's leaving, and then next
thing you know he's involved ina big program.
So you know what I mean.
So you know, you just don'treally know.
You know which way they'regoing with this.
You know, I just don't thinkCody's going to dethrone him.

(07:05):
I really don't.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I think that there's a good chance and maybe it
doesn't happen, but I do see apossibility where this could be
a double turn, where Cenafinally goes face and Cody goes
heel, because a lot of peoplebelieve that Cody's been a heel
from the get-go.
He's just been hiding it, andthat's always been my thought
too, because— but why would youdo?

Speaker 2 (07:26):
that you said the guy stays retiring.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Well, I'm talking about Cody.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Now Cody— I know but why would John go do all this if
he's leaving?
Why would he turn back babyface?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I would think that he'd want to go out babyface at
some point.
Do you think he'll end hiscareer as a heel, or do you
think he'll end his career as ababy face?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
A heel.
What he is.
That's what he should end hiscareer.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
I got a feeling, though, that's not going to
happen.
I think we're going to see adouble turn here.
If not, we'll see at leasthints of something that's coming
down the line.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
I just think this scene is going to go out of his
face.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
All right, let's see.
I think that's it foreverything right now.
Yes, we're going to go into themailbag.
If you're ready, just leaveyour questions here.
I know some of you already have.
We'll get them up on the screen, teddy will answer those and
the best question of the nightgets a free Road Trip After
Hours.
T-shirt.
And Teddy will pick that at theend of the night, so at the end

(08:37):
of the night, so get yourquestions in and pull one out
those letters.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
I love those letters.
Let's find out what you've gotto say.
Oh boy Mailman.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Mail today.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Boom, boom, boom.
Why do you keep punishing me?
Not only are you punishing me,but you're punishing our
listeners with that horriblemailbag music.
It's just horrible.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Until you come up with something better.
That's what we got.
Oh, you want me to?

Speaker 2 (09:18):
come up with oh.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Do a Teddy Long original for opening mail and
we'll play that one.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
No, I tell you what.
Why don't we get some of thefans or somebody to send us some
music and see if we can use it?
Send us some music, that wouldbe fun.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Hey guys, if you're watching right now and you want
to piece together some kind ofmusic or intro for Teddy and I
don't use popular music becausewe won't be able to run it,
obviously but if you come upwith your own stuff, throw it at
us, we'll throw it up there.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
That'd be kind of fun to be actually.
Yeah, because that music isjust horrible.
Letters oh, we got letters andwe're doing Jesus God, I thought
I was looking at the littlerascals.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I was doing a podcast with oh God, get your bell rung
last night and when I was doingthat podcast we were talking
about you and I and Ashley.
If you ever want to knowanything about my background,
watch that.
It's on my Facebook page.
But I do talk quite a bit aboutTeddy in that hour that we're

(10:20):
on, because you really, in allhonesty, teddy and I are like
brothers and we just give eachother shit and we have a blast
doing it.
All right.
First question here Neil on Xwrites what are your thoughts on
making SummerSlam a two-dayevent?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
I really you know it's all right with me.
You know what I mean.
I think if those guys are ableto do that, you know, make it a
two-day event I think that'sspectacular.
You're going to have a lot morefans.
A lot of people that probablycouldn't make it might be able
to make it now to catch thesecond show.
So I think it's a great move.
Man, it's all about the dollar.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah, I mean great move and it's smart, but as a
fan, my God.
Friday night SmackDown.
Saturday night, number one.
Summerslam.
Sunday night SummerSlam nightnumber two.
Monday night.
Monday night Raw man.
There's going to be a lot ofwrestling on and sometimes I
feel, teddy, like there's toomuch wrestling on where people
can get tired of it after awhile, don't you think?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Well, you get tired of everything.
You know what I mean.
But, like I said, they're outthere now, so you know they got
to go with it.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
All right, let's see Pretty classy lady popping in
saying Teddy, is it true thatyou're the original player from
the Himalayas?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
No, that's not true.
I don't know anything aboutHimalaya.
Never heard of it.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Let's see Zach popping in saying he likes that
T-shirt you got on there, Teddy.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Well, all right, zach , we might be able to send you
one if you have a good questionfor me.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
And you know what, Teddy, Speaking of T-shirts, you
sent me a video of the IronSheet today.
Yeah, I'm going to show youwhat I was wearing when I was
watching that, Honest to God, Ihad it on and I just started
laughing.
But yeah, that was a greatvideo.
By the way.
Where did you post that?

Speaker 2 (12:09):
I won't say what you bought it, but I didn't post it
anywhere, I just enjoyed it formyself and I sent it to you.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah, that was good stuff, Teddy.
What did you say?
It's iron chic at its best.
Classic chic brother, bestclassic sheet brother.
Oh man god, y'all gonna hate usnow for not telling you what
we're talking about.
All right, let's see, we havecurly man.
Hey, curly man.
Hey, teddy mac.
How you guys doing?
I'm doing fantastic, teddy Iyou look like you're in a great
mood too oh yeah, I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Okay, man, very good all right, let's see.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Next question here is from uh I guess it's trying to
be funny, maybe com ed, uh, fromcom ed.
So he needs your help.
Says uh, okay, this is like adear abby, I guess.
Dear teddy, I need your help.
I recently said something thatgot me in a lot of trouble with

(13:01):
the wife.
I need ideas to get her back onmy good side.
Okay, hold on.
He says also, in case you'rewondering, she and I went to
take her duck for a walk in thepark.

(13:22):
Some drunk guy came up andyelled at her saying where'd you
get that ugly thing?
To which my wife replied sir, that happens to be a duck, and I
had to, you know, remind herthat he was drunk and he was
talking to the duck and got herin trouble.
Teddy, any advice for this poorguy?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, I think he needs to just go and get a
divorce.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, If your wife is walking a duck around, I don't
know if you're trying to befunny, If you did man serious or
not.
If she's walking a duck aroundon a leash, something's just not
quite right.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
I'm begging you, brother, get the papers.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, man.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Get them papers together right now.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Don't wait.
Don't wait, let's see.
Get your bell rung.
Pro wrestling podcast.
I just want to drop in and sayhello, mac and Mr Teddy.
Hey, good to see you guys.
Man, that's another one ofthose podcasts that Teddy and I
had a chance to be on in StLouis.
A great bunch of guys there, fantastic podcast.
Make sure you keep up with themas well.
Let's see.

(14:26):
Hello to you guys.
Get your Bellarong Wrestlingpodcast.
That's the one I was on justlast night.
Bob Cook would argue aboutGunther.
He thinks Gunther is extremelyboring Him and I argue that all
the time.
I love Gunther.
I'm surprised Bob would saythat I like Gunther.
Yeah, I'm surprised Bob wouldsay that I like Gunther.

(14:46):
He's kind of a throwback to me.
I like watching him.
Teddy, what about you.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
I like watching him too.
I don't think it's Well, boband I.
You know Bob's old school, youknow what I mean and I think
what's with Gunther.
Gunther slows things down.
You know what I mean.
He's not that fast-paced andhear that blah, blah, blah.
You know he takes his time andhe slows things down and maybe
that may be a little boring topeople because he's not in a
hurry.
So you know what I mean, but Ilove his style.

(15:12):
I think it's great.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
I think it's great Mark's in here saying hey, Mac
and Teddy, hey Mark, it's goodto have you with us again
tonight.
All right, Mark, Michael Steelesame thing, I know you know
Michael.
There.
Mr Teddy Cena wins, but notclean, is what he is saying for
the Cena-Cody match atSummerSlam.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Well, you know, I kind of may agree with Michael
there too.
You know what I mean.
I can see that happening too.
You know, gocena would stillremain here.
I can see, you know, yeah, yeah, I can see that happening all
right, what else we got here?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
we got a bunch of them coming in.
Get your bell rung.
Uh, also saying, I think sethrawlins cashes in the briefcase.
I think seth's injury is a workdue to there not being any
reports about his injury at allsince saturday night's main
event.
Uh, yeah, I think a a lot ofpeople are wondering just how
legit that injury may have been.
But that is what I enjoy aboutsome of the wrestling right now.

(16:03):
There are and I've talked aboutthis recently when it comes to
kayfabe.
I do believe that kayfabe isalive still and I think it's
being resurrected in a waythat's using social media to
their advantage, and I thinkthat's smart, because you don't
want to know everything that'sgoing to happen.
You want to be surprised.
Otherwise wrestling can becomequite boring.

(16:25):
I mean, if you knew the end toa movie, would you really go
watch the whole freaking movie?
You know I let's see.
We also have Mike popping insaying what's he got here?
Aew show was horrible yesterday.
Are they going further downhill, mike?
I didn't see AEW.

(16:46):
No, teddy, you don't watch it,and I didn't see it last night,
so I'm not really sure.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Now you know why I don't watch it.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, you know the problem with AEW, really too, is
that they're hit or miss.
You know, and again, it's likeyou know, teddy, if you know you
can get a great steak somewhere.
Or I say like Cracker Barrel, here's a great example.
Cracker Barrel is a place whereyou know you can go to that
place and you know what you'regoing to get.
It's always going to be thesame.
No matter where you go, it'salways going to taste the same,

(17:18):
whereas other ago it's alwaysgoing to taste the same, whereas
other places, one day maybe thefood's good, the next day the
food's horrible.
You know, wrestling's kind ofthe same way.
You want it to be consistent, would that?

Speaker 2 (17:26):
be all you got to do.
All you got to do in some ofthese cases is just change the
leadership yeah, well it reallyis that simple yeah, it really
is that freaking simple.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Let's see Mark's asking hey, Teddy, any New
Mexico road stories.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
No, I don't know anything about New Mexico.
You never traveled to NewMexico for a show.
I went there one time.
Yeah, I remember a couple times.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was a realrundown building there.
The water didn't work, yeahyeah, I remember that.
But they told us we couldn'ttake no shower.
That's right.
They told us we couldn't usethe water.

(18:03):
The water was contaminated.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Was this also the place where you were in a cattle
barn or something?
I think you told me you were insome place that was not the
normal place for a wrestlingmatch.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Golly, I would have been in Plain at.
M wrestling match.
Golly, I'd have been in plainat him, jesus Christ.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
There are a lot of people watching Teddy who have
never you see what you see whenit comes to WWE.
But on the independents brotherit's a completely different
story.
Like Teddy says, I have been inplaces where they hold
livestock shows and stuff andyou're out there changing right
there with all the cow dung andeverything else.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
You ain't got to be on the independents.
When I was in WWE, we was inFort Worth, texas, there, and
that's where we was in a barn, there were horses, everything
was in this place, in this barn, while we were wrestling there.
So it ain't got to yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yeah man, yeah man.
Steve Moore is saying what doy'all think about the new
Netflix show Unreal Teddy?
Have you had the chance towatch that?

Speaker 2 (19:04):
It just came out in that long.
I watched the trailer the othernight and I think I sent it to
you.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
You may have.
Actually I can't remember I'veseen about.
Actually I've seen everyepisode.
I think I finished it today.
Let me say this I don't thinkthere's a lot of people who are
really upset about thepossibility of revealing too

(19:31):
much background to what'shappening behind the scenes.
I'm one of those.
I don't believe in sharing awhole lot of that information.
But I will say this I thoughtthe show was pretty good.
It revealed a little bit hereand there, but at the same time,
when you finish watching theshow and, teddy, I know you, if
you saw this, you'd see the samething they're still working the
fans.
It's not a complete shoot, it'sstill a work.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
And so you know it's not as harmful as I think a lot
of people thought it might be.
They know what they want you tosee and what they don't want
you to see.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Yeah, even what they think they're giving you that's
a secret behind the scenes maynot actually be what you think
it is.
It may be what they want you tothink.
What it is, it's an illusion, yes, and that's good, which is
good.
That's the way wrestling shouldbe.
Herb Simmons.
Good evening gentlemen.
Hey, Herb, good to have youwith us man, he was in the room
last night with me as well.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Good afternoon, Mr Simmons, Player player.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Yeah, man, we love some Herb Simmons.
Let's see Mike in here.
Is it time for a more seriousGunther character, a Colonel De
Beers-type gimmick, perhapswithout the racism.
But in all seriousness, I don'tthink he is perceived as
dangerous anymore.
What do you think, teddy?

Speaker 2 (20:43):
They can light a fire back on them anytime they get
ready.
I think he's doing a good job.
Myself, you know, things havejust changed a lot.
A lot of people you have torealize the business is not what
it used to be.
So you know, I sit and I lookat things and I'm like golly,
but I mean there's nothing I cansay because that's the way of
the world Everything changes.
So I think Gunter's doing agreat job.

(21:04):
I don't think they need to makehim any more serious.
Maybe they need to, maybe nowset him up for something real
big, maybe put him in somethingwith the Rock or something like
that.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah, I think who he's facing will depend on how
much danger he brings with him.
I do think of him, though, asone of the guys who,
legitimately, is one of thebadasses that's going to come
out to the ring, and whoeverhe's facing is going to have
trouble, because I never knowwhere that story may go, because
there's so many options.

(21:33):
When you have somebody who'sthat strong as a character as he
is and he does have thatdangerous edge to me, you know,
I feel like he's got it.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
He's just something about him.
I like him.
I like him man.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
But hey look, Mike, everybody likes different things
.
Brother, let's see here Scott,Lance, Good to see you in here,
Scott.
Thoughts about when you turnedheel as a referee at Clash of
Champions 6 during the RoadWarriors versus Varsity Club.
Were you nervous?
And your thoughts on JimCornette?

Speaker 2 (22:06):
No, I wasn't nervous at all.
I was prepared for that.
That was a big deal for me thenthat once they found out that I
could talk Kevin Sullivan hotstuff, able to give a God rest
his soul they're certainlyresponsible for a great lot of
my success.
So when they told me what I hadto do because, like I said,
they fired me on TV and then Iknew then after the firing what

(22:29):
was going to happen I was justready.
It didn't bother me.
When I did that, I was justwanting to see the reaction of
the people.
That's what I play off of.
Once I do something, I see howit affects the people.
Then that lets me know whetherI got them or not.
So, uh, I wasn't nervous at all, man, that was.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
I had a great time doing that I've never asked you
this teddy and and and I knowwhat you mean where you know, at
the end of a match or the endof whatever you may be doing,
you know if it worked or not.
You know you're like, oh, I hadthem, this, this, this got them
.
Was there ever a time inwhether it's wcw or wwe, where
you thought, oh, I had a man, that was great.

(23:07):
And then you get in the backand the review from vince maybe,
was different no, I never hadthat problem to have.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
I did have.
Have.
One day I went out and Vincehad wrote this promo and he had
in this promo.
I'll never forget this wordepisodic.
That was the word episodic.
I never will forget that and Iswear.
And they told me Vince saysthis is what he really wants you
to stress, it's episodicepisode or something like that.
I said no problem, and Ithought I had that down and,

(23:37):
brother, I stepped out on theramp and I swear, man, I just
went blank.
I could not remember episodicto save my life and all I was
thinking about Vince is going tokill me.
That's all I was thinking abouton the ramp.
And so, and I walked backthrough and he was standing up
and he was just dying, laughingman and I apologized.
Walked back through and he wasstanding up and he was just

(23:58):
dying, laughing man and I I hadI've apologized.
I said I just couldn't get itout.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
I remember when that happened.
That was, you were making aspecial appearance.
You weren't a regular characterat that time.
You had been away for a while.
I can't remember what it was, what show it was, and if you
remember let me know.
Okay, look up that episode withteddy uh, with episodic uh in
the word.
It is funny because you canfeel you bombing on stage and
you even kind of go you knew, you knew, boy, I just screwed

(24:24):
the pooch on this one.
Yes, oh.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
God, I was so embarrassed and I thought I was
going to get it to it.
I walked through and Vince wasjust dying laughing.
He was like you know, I don'tscrew up unless something
happens, man, but I just don'tknow what.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
I bet you were relieved once you got in the
back and he was laughing and notscreaming.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Oh God.
But Vince always said this, andthis is where I always got
comfortable.
He said if something happensout there, then it was meant to
be Yep.
So don't be so hard on yourself.
God damn it.
It's happened to me a lot oftimes.
You know what I mean.
He would always tell me that ifit happened, live.
It was meant to be.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Oh, by the way, did you see the news about him in a
car wreck?

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yeah, I did see that he hit the car wreck with
somebody.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
His Bentley got all tore up.
But you know I was surprised.
You know what I thought of whenI heard that news Vince drives
himself.
I figured he had somebodydriving him around everywhere he
went.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
I didn't think he even drove a car.
Yeah, he got a nice Bentley.
I've seen it before when weused to go to Stanford well, not
to the office Bridgeport, Ithink, connecticut.
And there was another place inConnecticut there I think we
were at Bensonwood.
I always bring a driver's car.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I heard people say in the past that they didn't even
like riding with him because hescares them to death when he
drives.
Let's see, mike is saying it'sbad when your state is
remembered by a WWE Hall ofFamer, that being Teddy Long,
only because the water didn'twork.
He's talking about the NewMexico story.
Let's see Jesse Wilks in here.

(25:53):
Hey, jesse, good to see you.
I've seen a show at Midasmuffler and brake shop.
Yeah, I know he has.
I uh, jesse works with god.
He's gonna hate me because Icannot remember the group of the
uh midget wrestling.
Um, jesse, remind me up on hereso we can let people know where
they can find you.
But uh, he, he travels with alot of midgets and, and I'm sure

(26:14):
some of the places they end upfor, some of the craziest he
probably has some fantastic roadstories actually.
Let's see Curly man.
Let's see, hey, mac and Teddy, have you guys watched WWN Rio
and if you guys did, what areyour opinions on it?
We just covered that, so sorryabout that.
Pretty classy lady.
If they made a new version ofLegends House, would you want to

(26:36):
be on it?

Speaker 2 (26:38):
As long as they pan.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Damn right.
I would like to see that, though I did find that one of
the better shows that WWE didwhen they brought back some of
those legends.
But you're just going to havethe right group of people,
because back in the time you hadHulk Hogan, roddy Piper.
You get all these big names andthey're in a house, you know,
with Jimmy Hart and and, oh myGod, some of the stories Gene

(27:02):
Okerlund just crazy shit thatwent on in that house.
Get your bell rung podcast.
Mr Teddy, back in GCW, when youwere collecting the robes for
the wrestlers in their matches, did you have any idea or even
the desire at the time to go onand have the career that you?

Speaker 2 (27:20):
No, I didn't have any idea, never thought anything
about it.
I just when I was in the back Idid understand that I couldn't
just stand around because alleyes were on me for some reason,
and now I know why because youknow they're very secretive back
then you know they look at me.
Who is this guy, what's hedoing?
Back here?
I would go to the ring, getjackets and stuff and you know,

(27:42):
kind of let the guys know.
I'm just, you know, trying todo whatever I need to do here.
So I didn't no, it didn'tbother me, I didn't even think
about I'd ever even be a referee, let alone that the way I got
to be a referee was a bigsurprise too.
I took the ring to Cobb CivicCenter and put the ring up.
That was my job.
Next thing I know know thepromoter comes to me, says

(28:03):
tonight you got a referee, wedon't have a referee.
So that was that's how Istarted reverie.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
I didn't even I had no idea that was even going to
happen yeah, I mean, you know, for a lot of people in wrestling
, uh, it is right time, rightplace, uh, right environment and
working your way up by beingnoticed for the work that you're
doing, and that's what daddydid.
I mean, let's face, teddy, youyou took a zero knowledge of how
wrestling worked, came in onthe ground floor and worked

(28:30):
yourself all the way up to ahall of fame.
I mean, that's, that'simpressive.
I don't care who you are, whatoccupation you have, man to to,
to do it and and to know, notonly just you know what you were
able to do during your times inwrestling, but how hard of a
time you had before you even gotto wrestling as a story in
itself.
So just you know, that kind ofstuff is extremely, you know,

(28:54):
telling about an individual, andthat's why Teddy and I get
along so well.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
And I just want to say thanks to Vince McMahon
because he saw it.
A lot of people saw it too, butthey didn't want to see it.
But Vince McMahon didn't lookat it like that.
He saw it and he done it.
So thank you, sir All right, let's see.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
We have Mike asking.
I think some of the frontoffice moves are kayfabe, which
would be smart.
Yes, and that certainly helpswhen it comes to today's kayfabe
Pretty classy lady.
On Unreal I saw they had JayUso being blocked from getting
in the arena and Mark Henry hadto let him in.
It looked scripted, you know,I'm not sure, teddy, I know you

(29:36):
didn't see that, but I do thinkthat maybe I don't think it was
scripted.
I think, because he looked likehe was legit, kind of ticked
off, that the guy was holdinghim up and he shouldn't know who
he was and let him go park hiscar.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Why was Mark Henry there?
Was he on this show?

Speaker 1 (29:51):
He was in a car behind Jay Uso and Jay didn't
have his credentials and he wastelling the guy my name is this
you know, I'm on the show.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
Oh, they were trying to get in a building, yeah yeah,
get in a building.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah, yeah, they wouldn't let him in, you know,
say into the parking lot area, which is like, okay, I got you.
Yeah, uh, let's see what elsewe got here.
Uh, have a great weekend.
It was great meeting you, mrteddy, and mr teddy in st louis.
Same, uh, back at you, guys andkj, thank you thank you guys uh
, let's see curly man saying hey, teddy, I forgot.

(30:21):
What did you do back in the dayon James Brown TV show, future
Shock?
And can we see that show onYouTube if we still seek it out?

Speaker 2 (30:33):
I was the music director.
I selected the music for thepeople to dance by the music
that they played for the peopleto dance.
I don't know.
The name of the show was FutureShock.
I don't know whether it's onYouTube or not.
It could be.
I just got.
I haven't looked at that at all.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
I'm going to have to look that up myself Now.
You got me kind of curious, ifit's out there, so let me ask
you how did you choose the music?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Well.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I was doing radio.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
No, I was radio.
You know what I mean.
So what I did is they had.
You know what I mean.
So what I did is they had somany people they let in.
It was like Soul Train and whatit was.
When they started playing music, you got up and danced.
So what I did is selected themusic for them to dance by,
because I knew from my radiodays what music to play and what
they liked.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
All right, let's see We've still got a few more here.
I'm going to try to get inbefore we have to close out.
If you haven't heard it, teddy, you are one of the best
managers ever.
You have managed so many people.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Well, thank you very much.
I really appreciate that, thankyou.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
He also says he thinks Vince McMahon is
underrated.
And Scott Lance?
Why did they end the RodneyMack gimmick with you as his
manager so quick?

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Rodney got injured so he had to go home.
He hurt himself.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
So that's why that happened.
Let's see Mike Mack.
You are hosting like four orfive shows.
Where's that energy?
Coming from A cup of coffee and, you know, just enjoying life
to the fullest.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Why don't you tell them what's in that coffee?

Speaker 1 (32:01):
The best stuff you can buy.
Okay, all right, let's see whatelse we have here.
John Roberts, hey Mac, hey, teddy, hey.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
John, let's see.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
I was watching this next guy right here just the
other day on his mailbag andthat's Joe Hamilton Jr or Nick
Patrick saying holla, holla fromGlico Beak.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
That's what I've called him all of our career.
All the years me and him rodedown the road, it was always
Glico Beak.
Now that's where that namecomes from.
I don't know how we come upwith it.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
So you have all these weird names.
You got Bubbles and Glico Beak.
You don't have any clue whatany of them mean.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Who knows, who cares what they mean.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Nick, if you can remember why you were calling
him Glico Beak, let me know.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
No, I was Nick's.
Was I called Nick Glico?

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Beak.
Well, maybe Nick remembers, youknow, he's not as brain dead as
you are sometimes.
Well, no, no, no, he is that'sit Alright, Real quick, before
we get out of here, Teddy, anything you want to push coming
up and then we're going to pickour winner for this week.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Like I said, this Tuesday night I'm going to be in
.
God, I didn't have my paper.
It's oh here, I got it righthere, man, I'm going to be in
this.
It's a Harris, Shahara CountySunshine Fairgrounds.
Stop laughing, Matt, you never, remember where you're going.
So this Tuesday, the ShaharaCounty Sunshine Fair.

(33:32):
I'm going to be there on behalfof Immortal Championship
Wrestling.
Now, my man, Mike, the promoterover there at Immortal
Championship Wrestling, he's notonly bringing me in for that,
he's also going to honor me andput me in the Immortal
Championship Wrestling.
He's not only bringing me infor that, he's also going to
honor me and put me in theImmortal Championship Wrestling
Class 2025 Hall of Fame.
So I want to say thank you, guys for that before I even get

(33:53):
there.
So I'll be there and that's inCobus League, New York, I
believe Cobus.
I may be not pronouncing thisright, but it's.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Cobus League New York .

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Spell it C-O-B-L-E-S-K-I-L Coles, new
York, okay.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Is that right?
Hey, if you say so, you lost mewhen you started spelling.
Stop it.
By the way, Nick was saying hecan tell us what that Glico beak
means.
So that's interesting, do we?

Speaker 2 (34:27):
have time.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Yeah, joe, if you can pop in here and tell us what it
is, we'll stick around a littlebit longer here, but first you
got to pick a question.
Anyhow, teddy, I want to knowwhat it means.
Yeah, I would too.
In the meantime, while we'rewaiting for Nick, if you want to
be able to tell us John Robertssaying would you guys know how
Jimmy Hart is doing?

Speaker 2 (34:50):
I hadn't talked to Jimmy since last week, matt.
You remember I told you Icalled him the day of Hogan's
passing.
Wow, and really I didn't callhim and I hadn't called him
because I didn't really want tobother him.
I don't think this is the timeright now, so I'll have my time
to call him, but I imagine youknow Jimmy's taking it pretty
hard.
Him and Hogan are real closeman.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Yeah, and Jimmy's a tender-hearted kind of guy and
so I imagine it's very difficultfor Jimmy.
So anybody in that family, especially, like today we
learned that he also was havingchallenges with leukemia.
That came out today.
It's like, oh wow, you know, and that even tells me more.

(35:30):
Ok, I'm going to rant for justa quick second and then we'll
get to your winner.
Bubba the Love Sponge put outinformation about the health of
Hulk Hogan and he got batteredfor doing so and people saying,
oh, he's full of crap.
What ended up that?
A lot of it he was accurate on,but that doesn't matter to me.

(35:53):
I don't care how accurate hewas.
Was it his place to releasethat information?
The family's dealing withsomething they wanted to keep
private.
Shouldn't they have that rightto keep that private, Teddy?

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Well, yes, they should.
You know what I mean.
You know, just some people, just some people.
So, bubba, I don't even think Iever met him, I don't really
even know him, so I just lovehim.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
He says you know it's like well, he's not out there
to get ratings or anything elseBullshit.
Yes, you know, it's like well,he's not out there to get
ratings or anything elseBullshit.
Yes, you are, otherwise whywould you have even brought it
up?
You brought it up because youknew it.
Draw attention to things thatyou're saying, which would get
you more clicks, get you moreviews, whatever it may be To act
like oh, I wasn't doing thisfor anything other than just
giving out news Bullshit.

(36:40):
You were putting out informationthat the family did not want.
That's the reason why I believeso many people in the family
were saying one thing whileBubba the Love Sponge was
reporting other things.
It's because the family wantedit to be private, and it should
have been private.
I'm done now, teddy, who do youwant to pick this week?

(37:01):
By the way, nick, I'm going totell you what we ought to do.
Get you on an upcoming show, whether it's next week or the
following week, let's get you onthe show with us and you can
explain what Glico Beak actuallymeans.
We'll have a little fun withthat.
That'll be fun, but Teddy, who's going to be the winner
this week?

(37:27):
I think, we'll give that shirtto somebody asked me about.
Was that Fred at Rep Arena orsomething in the back getting
coached or something?
Yep, hang on, I always have tokind of find out, because you
never remember who it is.
I tell you what.
We'll find out who it is,because I cannot find it right
now because we had a lot ofquestions tonight.
So I'll go through this, but Iwill tell you that shirt is
coming out to you.
If that was your question, thatwill be coming out to you very
soon, and if I don't have yourinformation, just send it to me

(37:51):
at macdavismail.
That's M-A-I-L at gmailcom.
Teddy, I think that's about itfor tonight.
Well, we kind of ran over quitea bit, but man, we still got
people asking questions as we'resitting here.
Hang on, let me just see whatall we got here.
Maybe we'll get a few more in.
If you're not in a hurry, let'ssee, I'm never in a hurry for

(38:14):
my people.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
I'm here for my people.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Look, I just blocked somebody and don't know what I
was doing.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
I didn't mean to block you If I just blocked
somebody and don't know what Iwas doing.
I didn't mean to block you.
If I blocked you, I'm sorry, Ididn't mean to?

Speaker 1 (38:27):
What are you on man?
You know, Look here.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
I don't know what I'm doing.
You're right, you answered it.

Speaker 1 (38:30):
I know you were answering it.
I know.
All right, Look here.
Guys, we appreciate you tuningin.
