Speaker 2 (00:22):

here.
Wait a minute, now he's comingin.
I think I think I can hear younow, d-von, can you hear me?
I can hear you, just can't seeyou.
That may be for the best, holdon as long as I don't see Teddy
Long.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I'm okay, you should
listen, bitch.
I'm just waiting to see you soI can straighten you out.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
You set me up.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, we still don't
see you, brother.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Yeah, why don't you
get to let that man get out of
the room?
I don't care, I ain't jealous,you can show us.
That's why you were lategetting in contact with us.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
You don't need your
prostitution duties alone, Okay
okay, this is a great way tostart the show.
What the hell?
I'm not even going to get intothe big introductions here.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
You don't need no
introduction.
I'm talking to my fiance.
We don't need no introduction.
What is?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
wrong with you, man
Ain't nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Oh there, my baby.
Yes, Jesus, Let me make a posetoo.
You see that shirt, Look atthat.
I can do just like that shirt.
I can pose too.
Look at that.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
If you can't tell
already, this is Road Trip After
Hours.
I'm your host, mac Davis.
That's WWE Hall of Famer TeddyLong and our special guest today
.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
No, no, no, no, no,
no.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Let me introduce her,
let me say one thing, though,
and you take over after that.
This is our very first two-timeguest.
Go ahead, Teddy.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yes, let me introduce
my fiance.
We were married, then we gotdivorced and since we have been
divorced, we've had a chance totalk back and forth with each
other and we finally decided toreconcile.
So, ladies and gentlemen, without any further ado.
It's my fiance and soon to bewed, diane Dudley, better known
(02:21):
as D-Von.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
D-Von welcome to the
show.
You know some of your peoplethat you have on your show.
They need Jesus.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
And he's one of them.
I don't need Jesus, I need you.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
You need to stay away
from me, d-von.
It's great to have you back onfor this.
As I mentioned just a momentago, you're the first two-time
guest on Road Trip After Hoursand I saw that you had a new
YouTube channel, that you werebreaking loose, and I
immediately was like I got tocall D'Avon, let's see if he
wants to talk about it.
You said yes, so let's talkabout it.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Yeah.
So you know, I'm very excitedabout it.
I really didn't have anyaspirations in actually doing
anything like that.
I was at a signing and agentleman came up to me and he
was like, hey, you ever thinkabout doing a YouTube channel?
So you know, I get approached alot about doing stuff like that
or whatever business deal.
And I was just like yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever.
(03:15):
And he was like no, I'm serious.
I was like okay, man, give me acard and we'll talk.
So he walked away from me and Isomething just said you know
what?
This could probably be legit,it could probably be something
that's real.
Why not take them up on theoffer?
Sometimes you'll get a thousandoffers, but that thousand, that
thousand one, is the one thatdoes it for you.
(03:35):
Yeah, so I said what the hell?
I said let me, let me try itout and see what happens.
And they were legit.
You know.
They came down to my place andthey had the microphones, they
had all the setup and everything, and it was actually legit.
They came up with the contentand everything.
It was actually veryprofessional.
And Devon the other thing too.
(03:55):
Let me mention that.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
The way you really
kind of find out I mean, you
know you're not doing no betterthan anybody but they're all
crooks but the way that youreally know that he was legit.
He didn't stand there and kepton trying to talk to you and ask
you a whole bunch of questions.
He gave you his information andhe walked on about his business
.
So, that let you know.
Right there you thought aboutit.
You said well, this guy, heain't bugging me, or nothing.
(04:17):
So there you go.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
It was like one of
those things, because usually
they'll sit there and they'll belike you know I can do this, do
that, and they start givingtheir resume right there and you
know they're full of shit, especially with some of the
things that they're saying, whenwe've been in the business long
enough to know somebody who'sfalse and who isn't.
So it's like okay, and, likeyou said, he sat there, he gave
me his information, he was likeyeah, get in touch with me if
(04:40):
you're really interested.
We would love, love to do itand this and that.
And, like I said, they camedown and we did it at the
wrestling school and it lookedlike a studio.
Yeah, the way you know, thevideo came out, it looked like a
studio.
So we basically did that and itcame off really good.
I was very good.
We did about five episodes.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Now I watched one
this afternoon I believe this
may be one of the first ones youreleased which was you and
Maven, maven, yep, fantasticvideo.
I watched it, in fact.
You talked about a couple ofspots in there where you were
asked well, you want to go upthere and practice this spot?
And your answer was Nope, nope.
And that was in some of thoseTLC matches.
(05:24):
And when you said that Istarted laughing because I've
done some stuff in independentwrestling and they always would
ask me do you want to try thespot out?
I may never have done that spotbefore.
No, I'll just go with it whenit's time.
And I just cracked up because Iknew exactly what you were
talking about snooker, they saidwhen he was selling out Madison
Square Garden with Roddy Piper.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Sometimes he wouldn't
show up at the shows, you know,
and the one time that everybodyfrom back in the day seemed to
have the same story and theytell it to a teeth, where he
sold out Madison Square Garden, the line is around the corner
trying to get into the garden tosee him and Piper go at it.
(06:06):
They said the limo pulled up.
He looked at the marquee.
It said main event Roddy Piperand Jimmy Superfly.
He looked at the limo driver.
He goes brother, this is thegarden.
Yes, sir, mr Snooker, not today.
Brother, go back to the hotel, not today.
And no one showed MadisonSquare Garden.
(06:29):
I'm like who the hell does that?
But Jimmy Snooker, to me thatwas me telling him no, when I
was with you.
I was very nice on the video.
I didn't say no, I went, bubba,fuck, no.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
I heard somewhere in
an interview uh, before I saw
that video where you haddiscussed.
That was somewhere else and youhad kind of said that bubba at
the last minute said devon, that's your spot.
And you're like, oh hell, no,it's not no no when it came to
your matches and some of thelayouts of what we saw with you
and the hardys and everyone elsewho was the mastermind behind
that was.
(07:02):
Was bubba heavily involved inthe layout of what we saw with
you and the Hardys and everyoneelse who was the mastermind
behind that?
Was Bubba heavily involved inthe layout of those shows, I
mean of those matches?
We?
Speaker 1 (07:09):
all were.
But the main person was MichaelHayes, to be honest with you,
because he was our producer forjust about every one of our TLC
matches, our Raw and SmackDownmatches.
He was the guy.
So you know he would come to us.
And Vince, you know.
Vince knew that when a certainproducer would click and Teddy
(07:29):
can testify to this when therewas a certain producer that
clicked with talent, vince wouldkeep that producer with that
talent Smart.
So to have the Dudleys and theHardys and Edge and Christian
all together to have that oneguy, michael Hayes, be able to
work with us and to be able tocreate chemistry with all of us,
(07:51):
that was great and we just hita home run.
Every single time.
We all had the input with whatwe wanted in the matches and
everything.
So it wasn't just one of usbasically that was instrumental
in putting everything together.
It was all of us as acollective unit.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
We all did it how did
you end up now, when you talk
about some of these big matches?
All the high spots in some ofthese matches involved you, and
you did not care for heightswhatsoever.
So how did it end up that youwere the one taking those spots?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Well, a lot of times,
yes, and I was afraid of it.
But at the same token, you knowwhen the adrenaline is rushing
through your body and I thinkmentally I knew this, even
though I was afraid of going up,whether it be the top rope or
hanging with Jeff 25 to 30 feetup in the air.
I knew once we startedproceeding to the spot and
(08:47):
whether it would be climbing upa ladder or what have you.
I was pretty much able toovercome that fear because,
number one, I got Vince McMahonwatching in the go position,
which is the gorilla, and youknow you better do right.
That's one.
And two, you know you're infront of the crowd so you don't
want to look like an idiotbecause you're scared to go up
the ladder.
You can't be scared, so you gotto go.
(09:09):
I think that was one of thereasons why I was able to do all
of that was because I just knewI put myself in that
predicament where, if I go outthere, I got no other choice but
to do it.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
And the worst thing
you can do is to let Vince know
that you're scared or you don'twant to do something.
That's the worst thing youcould ever do.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
You don't ever tell
Vince that you don't tell the
guys you're working with thateither, because won't they put
you in that position every timeif you're selling?
Speaker 3 (09:38):
They'll sue you right
off.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Right off.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
They'll go straight
to Vince and tell him they'll
sue you right off.
Listen.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I will say Uh-oh, we
lost D-Von well, he may have got
cut off.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
I'm sure he'll join
us back, yeah yeah, he'll join
us back in.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
I tell you what.
Uh, while we're talking aboutthat, I do want to remind you
that he has a great YouTubechannel.
Uh, I was going to show thisearlier and I'll show it now, if
I can get it up on the screen, and we'll probably try to bring
that in a little bit better foryou.
Uh, hell, yeah, I'll put it upon the screen, but this is his
YouTube channel.
It does have a big subscribebar.
When you go there, hit thatsubscribe button on his channel.
(10:19):
That's where you'll find thisfantastic content that we've
been talking about.
As a matter of fact, theYouTube videos just started
today.
We're recording this and Devoncoming back into the room right
now, but again, it just begantoday.
I've seen the first video.
I'm wanting to check out thesecond one now, because the
(10:40):
first one was so damn good.
D-bond, welcome back to theshow man, thank you, sorry about
that, my kids are calling me.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
That must have been
one of your clients.
You guys can't have a clientthat you are working.
You do not have time.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
You know what?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
I'm going to pray for
you, you know I'm going to pray
.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Normally I would say
lay my hands on you.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
To get the demons out
, but I ain't put my hands
anywhere near you.
You're a demon too.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
D-Bone, you know,
most people know you as the tag
team partner with Bully Ray orBubba.
Were there ever times because Iwould imagine with you, being
on the road with him and havingto work with him night after
night.
That's family and brother.
There's got to be times whenthe tensions kind of get built
up and you two just don't getalong.
Were there moments?
Speaker 1 (11:26):
like that.
Oh, absolutely.
But I think that's with everytag team, with Animal and Hawk,
the Midnight Express, the Rockand Roll Express, I mean, you
name, you name it telly.
And on Prime examples we hearstories.
We now, because of social media, we hear stories about those
two how sometimes they couldn'tstand each other, but it was
(11:48):
never a fact of him and I hatingeach other.
Did we not get along sometimes?
Yes, because of the fact thatwe were under each other so much
.
Yes, you know, that happenswhen you see somebody.
Listen, you could be marriedfor 20-something years.
Eventually, that spouse isgoing to be very tired because,
(12:09):
or your wife, must not be home.
Listen, I look at it this way.
I know what to say, when to sayit and how to say it.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I keep my mouth shut.
I understand.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
You know, you got to
know that in that aspect.
You know, when you're aroundsomebody so much, it's just like
you need a break.
Sometimes you need to, you know, step away for a few.
So there's been many times whenit's like that.
I'm sure he would say the samething about me oh yeah, no, um,
but that's just life, that's howit goes.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Tell everybody again
about your youtube channel, what
we can expect there and, uh,you know what's?
I know that the second videowhen's it coming out?
That's something I do want toknow.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Yeah, the second
video will be out next week.
Okay, It'll be out nextThursday, probably a little
earlier than that, I got tocheck on that but it'll be on my
Instagram when the new one iscoming out.
We'll definitely startpromoting that and I'm excited
about it.
We're going to try to tap intonot only things that happened in
my career, more certainincidents that might have
happened Me going to wrestlerscourt, almost going to wrestlers
(13:17):
court.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
I should say I know
Teddy knows about wrestlers
court.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I got convicted,
we're going to try to tap in
even family life, the kids, thefans, just everything.
People seeing me outside ofgetting tables and out of the
WWE, you know see a family man,you know walking.
So it's kind of like theYouTube channel with wrestling
(13:45):
slash family.
You know, it's like a realityshow type of deal.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Well, I got to tell
you I do follow what you do on
social media.
I see you all the time with thekids or with the wife or the
family somewhere all the time.
Is there a part of you thatwould surprise a lot of people,
that we don't know about you?
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Oh, I can answer that
, oh, god Start right up.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
I can answer that
right there.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
If y'all need to know
something about him that you
don't know you can talk to me.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I couldn't resist.
All right.
If you want to find him onYouTube, do so.
As I mentioned a little whileago, the first video is
fantastic.
It's got Maven on it and thesecond video will be the second
half of that sit-down interview,correct?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Correct and we're
going to be doing a lot more
stuff with Maven.
You know, because we all knowMaven has a YouTube channel that
is very, very successful andI'm hoping to get to his level.
You know that's what we'repraying for, so we're going to
try to do a lot of interestingthings coming on that YouTube
channel.
We're going to put our headstogether and make sure that it
(14:51):
doesn't go stale or flat andthat it keeps the people's
interest.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Well, all y'all got
to do on that third episode is
have me on there.
I'm going to be on there andI'll be wearing spandex.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Okay, I mean the
latest spandex.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
You know the real
tight ones.
I'll be wearing those.
Listen, I seen Teddy in shortsand it ain't the prettiest thing
in the world I have too, it'snot pretty you I have too.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
It's not pretty.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
You rub those things
together you could build a
famous sort of fire.
It's like a skeleton in reallife.
You're like you met a realskeleton.
Oh, aren't you supposed?
Speaker 2 (15:26):
to be dead With a
cranky attitude.
He gets crankier the older hegets too, devon oh well, you
know, he's always been cranky.
Yeah, well, that's what I'veheard hey, let me ask you one
quick question before I get youout of here.
I'm curious money aside, yourentire career, wwe or ECW, if
(15:48):
you had a chance to go back andrelive let's say like a
five-year period, where wouldyou go back?
Speaker 1 (15:55):
I would say the first
four years of WWE.
Don't get me wrong.
I loved ECW, it was great, butit was the beginning of
everything.
You know social media wasn'tout, the money wasn't really
there at that point, so weweren't on superstar status at
that point, although ECW, I willalways say, was my first home,
(16:16):
it was the place where I learnedso much.
But the WWE, when we got thereduring the attitude era on fire
unbelievable.
I had never witnessed anythinglike that before in my life and
to this day I haven't witnessedanything like that before.
How healthy I was in terms ofbody, wise, I wasn't hurting.
You know, everything was strong.
I had no fear of anything.
(16:37):
And you know I would take abump and be like would not know
what would happen if I went thewrong way on a bump.
You know, because when you'reyoung you don't care.
You know, you think you'reinvincible.
That is what I would love to donow.
Listen, I crossed the street.
Step one foot up on the curb.
Wait a minute, nice.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Just stay in that gym
and keep moving.
That's what Teddy tells me allthe time.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
That's all you have
to do.
A lot of times when I'm doingcardio or something, I think
about Teddy, because I knowwhere he was before he got into
great shape and what he did tostay there.
There were times when we'd beout and we would be at the
restaurant downstairs at a hotelor what have you.
Teddy would come down there, hewould get his food, sit down,
maybe sit down and eat with us,and there'd be a whole thing of
(17:23):
bread right there that they gavehim.
He'd sit there and pour somemilk or whatever inside the
bread so he wouldn't eat it.
Put it to the side.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
That's dedication
right there.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Absolutely, I mean
there's stuff like that.
So you know, when you seesomeone that really doesn't have
to work out like that, but theydo, that kind of gives you an
inspiration to really go outthere and to make yourself
better.
Because you know again, nobodywants to live to 200, but I
definitely want to live to 100.
I want to try to at least, because you know I've got small
(17:54):
kids and I want I.
I've always said this.
I don't want to try to at leastbecause I've got small kids and
I have always said this.
I don't want to go before theyunderstand what death is.
I don't want to go before theyunderstand why daddy's not here
anymore, why did God take himaway?
I want to be able to get mybody right, eat right and to do
the right thing and exercise.
Exercise is the biggest thingOnce you retire and stop.
(18:16):
It's downhill from there.
Yeah, I don't stop.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
I don't stop.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Teddy moves all the
time.
Every time I call him on thephone or he calls me, he's at
the gym doing something.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
I'm going to buy me
an elliptical machine now and
put it in the house here so Ican make sure, the days that I
can't make it, if I have to beat home, I can start doing it at
home.
That's the best thing You'vegot to stay alive, man, here's
my motto.
All of us, everybody's going toget that call.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
That's one thing we
all have in common.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
But I cut my phone
off.
There you go.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Alright, this has
been Wrestling's road trip after
hours.
I'm your host, mac Davis.
That's WWE hall of famer, teddylong and, of course, our
special guests with a brand newYouTube channel D bond Dudley.
We'll see you again next week.
Bye.
