Donna Woolam's story begins with heartbreak: her husband’s cancer diagnosis, years of caregiving, and the eventual loss that left her world unrecognizable. Yet, in the midst of darkness, she discovered a wellspring of resilience.
In this episode of Roaming with Restless Women, Donna shares some of her key insights gained from this time in her life:
Resilience isn’t about never breaking down. It’s about learning to move forward, even when the path is unclear.
Strength is often revealed in adversity. Donna’s years living in hotels, hospital rooms, and even her car showed her she was capable of more than she ever imagined.
Grief doesn’t disappear—it transforms. Nearly five years after her husband’s passing, Donna acknowledges that grief is a companion, not an enemy. It becomes something you learn to live with, not something you “get over.”
Actionable Advice:
Allow yourself to feel. Suppressing pain only prolongs suffering. Give yourself permission to grieve, cry, and process.
Celebrate small victories. Some days, getting out of bed is an act of courage. Recognize and honor these moments.
Seek support. Whether through friends, faith, or professional help, don’t walk the journey alone.
