Ever caught yourself shivering in summer? Not because of the weather, but because your heart is still dressed for winter? This episode dives deep into the powerful metaphor of dressing for your emotional seasons.

When life shifts but we remain bundled in the heavy coats of past hurts, we miss the sunshine breaking through. I share reflections on why we sometimes respond coldly when everything around us is warm – how internal struggles cause us to wear the wrong emotional attire for our current season. Whether it's carrying baggage from past relationships or maintaining a defensive posture when opportunities for joy present themselves, many of us are emotionally overdressed.

The transformation begins when we recognize the mismatch between our emotional wardrobe and life's current season. It's time to shed those winter layers – the grudges, the disappointments, the protective shields that once served us but now hold us back. Even when your heart still hurts, you can choose to "put your makeup on" and dress for where you're headed rather than where you've been.

This isn't about denial; it's about intentional alignment. Sometimes we must dress for the season we want before it fully arrives. By shedding heaviness and embracing lightness, we create space for new growth. Nobody should be able to tell what you're going through by how you carry yourself.

Coach Robbin (00:19):
This is Robbin, your empowerment coach.
Welcome to the Nest.
When I thought about what Ishould speak on today, I thought
about how we dress in differentseasons.
Have you ever seen people thatdress for the wrong season?
It's summertime, but they haveon a coat, they got on a sweater
and everyone's looking at themlike what in the world is wrong

(00:43):
with you?
They may even have it ontoboggan, but could it be that
there is an ailment, there is anillness that is causing them to
be cold even though it's 98degrees outside?
They may be anemic, their ironmight be low.
It's causing them to be coldeven though it's hot outside.

(01:04):
Could it be that they're goingthrough chemotherapy and their
body responds differentlybecause of the medication that
they're using to fight off adeadly illness?
You don't know what the problemis, but they are dressed for
the wrong season.
What happens when things are hotin our lives?
Things are going on in our lifethat make us overheat, but I'm

(01:33):
dressed for the wrong season.
The season is hot, but I'm not.
I don't respond to people in awarm way.
I'm responding in a cold waybecause of what's going on in my
life.
It's making me cold.
It's making me respond adifferent way than the season
that I'm currently in.
How do I dress in my off season?
My emotions are off, myattitude is off.
I got a resting bitch face.

(01:54):
Everyone else is happy, enjoying vacations, enjoying the
sun, but because, internally, what I'm going through has
caused me to dress and respondin a cold way, it's time that we
dress for the right season.
It's time that we catch up withthe pace in which things are
moving.
Catch up.

(02:15):
Life is moving.
You are no longer in the coldseason where things have stopped
growing.
The season has changed and it'stime to shift your mindset off
of the old season and move intoyour new season.
Take off the heaviness ofwinter apparel.
Shed off what somebody said andwhat somebody did in your last
season, what somebody did inyour last relationship.

(02:38):
Shrip off your leftover clothesfrom the last thing that
happened.
Baby, it's a new season, it's anew day, it's pretty outside.
Get out of the house and beginto soar again.
Start dressing for the rightseason.
It's time to forget about thepast.
Forget about what hurt you.
Forget about what's making youcold and why you're upset and

(03:00):
why you're rolling your eyes atpeople who they're saying good
morning.
And you're rolling your eyesbecause you don't even see no
good in the morning, but it'sbecause you are not dressed for
the right season.
Things have changed.
The air is lifted, it's lighter, people outside they're having
fun, and you still got on atoboggan and an overcoat because

(03:22):
on the inside you're cold andyou're mad at the world, and so
you still have on the wrongclothes.
It's time to realize that it'stime to strip off the old season
.
Things are changing, things arebrightening up in your life,
but you got to dress for theright season.
You got to be prepared forwhat's coming.

(03:42):
Even if you don't feel like it,dress like it.
Even if you don't feel like youwant to be in that season,
start acting like you're in thatseason anyway, and then that
season will come.
Strip off the heaviness, put onthe lightness, put on your face,
put your makeup on.
Start looking like.
Don't look like what you'vebeen through.

(04:02):
Nobody should be able to tellwhat you're going through.
I still look good.
I'm going out.
My heart is still hurting, butI got my makeup on.
My heart is still hurting, butI'm looking cute anyway, because
it's time for us to dress forwhere we want to go instead of
dressing from where we've been.
So what should you do whenyou're dressed in the wrong

(04:24):
season?
When you're dressed in thewrong time, you're in the wrong
pace.
It's time to dress for theright season, to know that
things are not drying up.
That was last season.
Things are brightening up.
This is the new season and it'stime for me to dress like.
I'm in my new place.
