Facing the mirror, whether literally or metaphorically, can be daunting. Have you ever wondered what your reflection truly reveals about your inner self? Join us on this transformative episode of Robin's Nest as I draw inspiration from Michael Jackson's reflective anthem, "Man in the Mirror," and explore my own personal weight loss journey. This episode isn't just about external appearances but delves deeply into self-perception and the often-unseen aspects of our internal worlds. Together, we question whether we love or loathe what we see and how that affects our thoughts, morals, and personality.

We're also taking cues from K. Michelle's insightful album, "I'm the Problem," and diving into the importance of self-awareness and personal accountability. Learn how acknowledging the narratives we create and confronting our self-inflicted wounds can lead to a profound shift in how we interact with the world. As we navigate this path of introspection, we uncover ways to foster healing and growth, setting the foundation for healthier relationships with ourselves and others. Tune in and let's embark on this journey towards becoming more authentic and empowered versions of ourselves. Robbin Sexton (00:07):
I was listening to Michael Jackson sing the song
the Man in the Mirror and I'vebeen going through a weight loss
journey knowing a lot of timesI would look in the mirror and I
would hate what I saw.
Do you like what you see in themirror?
You might love your reflection.

(00:28):
You are pretty, your eyes lookgood, your body is banging.
Oh, when you look in the mirror, do you say I hate what I see,
I hate my body, I hate my chin,I don't like my eyes, my stomach
is too big, my butt is too flator my butt is too wide.

(00:53):
But what about the internalmirror?
Do you like what you see whenyou look deeper into your heart,
when you look deeper into yourthought pattern, into your mind,
into your morals?
Do you like your ownpersonality or are you that
nasty person because you don'teven like your own self?

(01:14):
Are you a cheater, a scammer?
You hurt people because you'vebeen hurt.
What about the man in themirror?
Michael Jackson had a songabout the man in the mirror.
He said I'm starting with theman in the mirror.
I'm asking him to change hisways.

(01:38):
A lot of times we focus oneverybody else but we don't
start with the man in the mirror.
We recognize that we have tostart with fixing ourselves.
I can't help anyone else if I'mbroken.
It's easy to point fingers atthe other person and tell

(02:04):
everyone what they did to hurtyou, but what about the part
that you played in it, even ifit was just you allowing them to
repeatedly hurt you?
I have to start with the man inthe mirror.
It's time for me to change myown ways.
I was listening to the radio afew minutes ago and K Michelle
has a new album entitled I'm theProblem.

(02:26):
Can you look in the mirror andsay I'm the problem?
I keep allowing people to hurtme.
I keep giving the wrong peopleaccess to me.
I say hurtful things to my ownself.
I curse my own self out.

(02:48):
It's my own internal thoughtsthat give me pause.
I'm in the mirror, I'm lookingat it.
I may love the outside, I mayfeel like I'm thick, but on the
inside I'm nasty.
What do you see when you lookin the mirror?

(03:11):
Not just the outside.
You can work on that.
You can go to the gym, you cango through weight loss, even
surgery.
What do you do with theinternal mirror when it shows
your own thoughts, your ownapprehensions, the way you hurt

(03:35):
your own self.
What about your self-inflictedwounds?
What about when you break yourown heart?
You disappoint your own self.
Let's be like Michael Jackson.
He said I'm looking at the manin the mirror and I'm asking him
to change his ways, becausebefore I can help you change

(03:56):
yours, baby, I got to changemine too.
This is Robbin from Robbin'sNest.
