I'm Dev and I am currentlyreading Unsteady by Peyton
(00:25):
Corrine.
I'm actually listening to theaudio book, which is just the
male narrator.
Oh my goodness.
There are certain words he saysthat really just I have to pause
the book y'all.
I have to pause it to gathermyself before I can continue
listening to him.
I actually should figure outwhat his name is.
Cause I'm just listening to iton Libby and I haven't looked
(00:45):
at.
who the narrators are, but hemight be getting a follow so I
can check out the rest of hiswork.
But yeah, that's what I'mreading.
Jordan (00:53):
I'm Jordan.
Hello.
I just finished reading an arcof Love Under Snowfall by K.
L.
Parsons.
So cute.
If you're from the PacificNorthwest, it's set in
Leavenworth, Washington, andit's adorable and the spices,
Devonnie (01:11):
Is the spice good?
Jordan (01:13):
the spice is good.
Yep.
And it actually goes with ourepisode last time.
So I wish I'd read it earlier,but it's a, student teacher.
He's a professor.
Anyways, and I'm currentlylistening to Twisted Knight.
Another arc that I just got offNetGalley, it's kind of what I'm
into right now, by Kay Bromberg.
(01:34):
It's fun so far.
I'm just in the beginning, butit has a lot of potential.
So buckle up for some bookishbanter.
We're going to get thereeventually today.
We are both so excited for thisepisode, everybody.
We are giddy.
Okay.
I just cracked a beer.
That's the mood I'm in.
(01:56):
It's gonna be good.
Devonnie (01:57):
Yes.
is this episode about, Jordan?
Jordan (02:01):
I am so glad you asked.
This is my personal favoritetrope in romance.
This episode is why choose, whychoose refers to polyamorous
relationships.
Where there is more than onelove interest, and the main
character doesn't have to choosebetween them in the end.
Sometimes the female maincharacter is the central
(02:22):
interest and the male maincharacters are only interested
in her separately they areinterested in her sexually and
romantically, but not eachother.
Um, and of course these genderscan be swapped or there can be
gender fluid.
It just.
More often than not.
That's traditionally what I haveseen in this trope, but it is.
(02:45):
By no means the only one.
Other times it is more fluid andthe other characters have their
own romantic or sexualrelationships with each other.
You will often hear these booksrefer to as reverse harem.
Now we have recently hearddiscourse surrounding this term
and have decided that.
it is not a term.
We will be using any more on thepod.
(03:06):
When, you know, better, you dobetter.
So that's where we're at rightnow, but we are so excited for
this episode and this is myofficial request for my father
to stop listening.
I recently learned that myfather listens to every single
episode.
Devonnie (03:20):
Skip this episode,
Dad.
Skip this episode.
Jordan (03:23):
I need you to walk away.
Turn it off now.
Thank you.
Devonnie (03:28):
Let's wait till he's
gone.
Okay, he's gone.
Okay.
Okay.
Jordan (03:34):
And with that, Dev, do
you have a quote for us today?
Devonnie (03:38):
I do have a quote.
So my quote is actually from oneof my recs that I cannot wait to
talk to you about this book, butI'm not going to go too much
into it with the quote.
I'll talk When it gets time totalk about it, I'll talk about
it.
But basically there are threepeople in this scene that's
happening.
There's a husband and a wife andtheir bestie, Drake, who's a
male.
The husband is Hunter.
(03:58):
The wife is Isabel.
Drake is the best friend who iscurrently servicing
Jordan (04:03):
Oh,
Devonnie (04:04):
Hunter's wife, Isabel.
And this is right.
This is the quote.
can be rough with her.
Hunter says from his placeacross the room.
She likes it.
Jordan (04:18):
Yeah, she does.
Devonnie (04:19):
The
Jordan (04:20):
at the support!
Devonnie (04:21):
I know, we love best
friends looking out for each
other.
The reason I actually love thisquote, the reason I love this
quote is because the scene thatit's actually taking place in I
remember reading it and goingferal and just a while ago when
I was like looking for the quoteI ended up reading like that
full page scene and I like againhad to put the phone down and
(04:44):
back
Jordan (04:44):
flushed.
I
Devonnie (04:45):
Yes, right Okay, there
is something you guys have to
know about me When it comes towhy choose the polyamorous
relationships in books I amobsessed You With an couple
being in the group, or even ifthey're not a couple when there
(05:07):
is in the group.
I can't tell you what it does tome.
I actually cannot because I'mnot sure what the rules are on
the air, but it's just myfavorite.
It's my absolute favorite.
So yeah, I really enjoyed thisscene and I enjoyed this book
and I'll talk more about that ina bit.
Jordan (05:25):
I love it.
And actually that reminded me ofanother book I didn't have on my
list that now I think you needto read because I think it's
right up your alley.
So I'm gonna table that.
I'm gonna
Devonnie (05:33):
Please.
Yes.
Jordan (05:35):
that to my list, but
it's also gonna be on our
holiday one, I'm gonna get to myquote before we digress, because
really, we could talk about thisstuff all night, and we will.
My quote, this is from thefourth one in the series,
though.
The series is Rich Demons ofDarkwood.
It is not paranormal.
So the word demons is in there, but it is not actual demons.
(05:56):
They're just so morally black.,Make Me Burn by C.
R.
Jane and Mae Dawson.
I actually have two quotes foryou.
If you're wondering if I justcame in my pants.
You'd be correct, little devil.
A first for me, I must say.
I don't, there's just somethingso feral about a guy being so
(06:17):
excited that he can't hold ittogether.
Devonnie (06:19):
Just cannot.
Jordan (06:20):
in fiction, I want to
specify that in fiction.
Devonnie (06:24):
please.
Please.
Yeah, we need thatspecification.
IRL?
That does not work for me.
Jordan (06:29):
little more awkward.
Herricassian.
I do have another quote that Iwant to read from that one.
It's, Not as dirty.
I'm not gonna do the reallydirty one.
If you want the really dirtyone, ask us on our socials and
I'll send it to you.
Devonnie (06:44):
Yeah, it's hot.
Jordan (06:47):
really is, but it was, I
thought it was a bit too much.
Anyways, this one.
I don't think our story is afairy tale by any stretch of the
imagination, but that's okay, because the heroes in those
books don't destroy the world tomake the heroine happy.
And that's what I'll do to makeyou happy.
There isn't a line.
I won't cross a law.
I won't break a human being.
I won't destroy in order to keepa smile on your face and prove
(07:10):
what we have is the realistversion of love that could
exist.
I'm going to make sure thereisn't a day that goes by for the
rest of our lives, that youdon't know you're everything
I've ever wanted out of life, that you're all that exists for
me without you.
I'm nothing.
Devonnie (07:25):
Is this the MMC to the
FMC?
Jordan (07:27):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Devonnie (07:29):
I just love a
declaration like that.
That is so like kind of morallygray if you think about it.
Jordan (07:34):
Oh, no! No, when you
know what they've actually done,
there's a lot of murder shewrote in this book.
I'll tell you all about itlater, but it is, this is a
dark.
Devonnie (07:46):
Not a pitch black
romance.
Jordan (07:47):
it is.
I had to take breaks.
Devonnie (07:50):
Oh, okay.
Well love those quotes.
I know love that.
Sorry, as you can see we arewithout our christina, but I
think that may change soon
Jordan (08:03):
Yes!
Devonnie (08:04):
Right that may change
soon.
So we may have her back shortly, but that is why we do not have
christina with us again tonightHopefully you will be hearing
her quotes and rex In episodesto come very shortly, but I
would love to get out kick itoff with my first rec
Jordan (08:22):
Ooh.
Devonnie (08:23):
So this is an audio
book that I just finished And
i've been slowly chipping awayat trying to read.
Authors for books gowns andcrowns.
So this was A pickup.
This is why I read this author.
The book is wicked wonderland byeva chase It is part of the book
Right, and I know you've readsome of Eva Chase's
Jordan (08:42):
does a lot of reverse
hair.
Devonnie (08:44):
Yes, I realized that
when I was looking for a book to
write, so it was a great placeto start if you are looking for
an author who's gonna have lotsof why choose moments or books,
then Definitely check out EvaChase.
I listened to the book.
This is part of a series.
I think it might be three orfour books long.
So far, I listened to the firstone.
It was really quick.
(09:04):
Quick listen.
It is a retelling, actually, ofAlice in Wonderland.
So the entire series is prettymuch an Alice in Wonderland
story, and it's It is, I'msorry, because, you know, we
know Alice in Wonderland.
So I have the Cheshire Cat as aman called Chess.
And then I have the Mad Hatteras the Mad Hatter, but we call
(09:28):
him Hatter.
And then I have, right, and thenI have the Inventor slash the
White Knight, who I do notremember from Alice in
Wonderland.
Is that a character?
Jordan (09:42):
I was really hoping to
get further into this
conversation after you were doneuntil I admitted this.
I've never watched Alice inWonderland all the way through,
because I it weirds me out and Idon't like it.
Devonnie (09:53):
Yeah, I think it's
supposed to word you out.
I don't think this
Jordan (09:55):
No, I know, but I
Devonnie (09:56):
is actually for kids.
Jordan (09:57):
no I just, it always
scared me as a child, and as an
adult.
I just still get weirded out.
It's one of those weird things.
I also don't like Oompa Loompasfrom Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory, and I hate Mr.
Bean because he creeps me the Fout.
So there are certain things thatpeople are Like huge fans of,
(10:19):
and I can't stand it.
So I am not the person to ask.
Devonnie (10:24):
Got it, okay.
And I
Jordan (10:25):
just lost some
listeners.
Devonnie (10:27):
No, I will say that
Alice in Wonderland is not my
favorite.
It's not my favorite story.
However, I do love White Shoes, and I love a retelling.
So that's why I
Jordan (10:36):
would know this answer
though.
Devonnie (10:37):
Right?
Right?
I don't right.
I don't know if the white knightslash inventor is a character
from Alice in Wonderland becauseit's not.
One that like immediately comesto mind, but I also don't
remember most of it.
But anyway, this white knight, his real name is Theo and he's
the third male interest.
And then we have our Alice whowas actually Lisa.
(10:58):
And yeah, so Lisa falls througha looking glass after her great
aunt leaves her basically likethis Gothic mansion.
She's cleaning out the mansion.
And ends up in a room that seemslike someone never touched it.
There's a mirror and she fallsthrough the looking glass, ends
up in Wonderland, whereeverything is, of course, topsy
turvy, upside down, colorful, bent over flowers are talking.
(11:23):
It's just nuts.
It's
Jordan (11:24):
on acid.
Devonnie (11:25):
She essentially writes
like in her contemporary life
and then, you know, thathappens.
It's, she is running from lifepretty much.
She's always everything toeveryone.
Her, she actually walked in andher boyfriend was like cheating
on her.
And then Yeah, that's when shegot the chance to move into the
Gothic mansion, she was like,I'll do it.
I need to switch up.
(11:46):
I need to change.
And then she falls intoWonderland.
I, okay, here's what I will say.
I enjoyed it because it wasquick.
It was kind of entertaining.
I, We'll say it is like slowburn, which I find so strange
when I have, why chooserelationships?
It's not that I want them 6percent in getting to it, but
you know, you expect a littlemore at least
Jordan (12:09):
have more
Devonnie (12:09):
all of them, yeah.
Even if all of them aren'tparticipating at once, you
expect the individualrelationships to kind of take
off, which for me, that's theonly thing I will say that it
didn't take off.
And also I could not get thechemistry with her three men in
her.
I couldn't see it.
I know it sounds like I'mdissuading you from reading
Jordan (12:27):
But maybe that's the
rest of the series, but maybe
that's what comes next
Devonnie (12:31):
And that's literally
what I was going to say.
There are still more books and Iwill get to those books.
So I'm just sending you up toknow that it could be a wild
ride ahead and where it endsoff.
I can see there's so much plotas well, which I do it has tons
of plot, which is nice.
So we'll get into the secondbook.
We'll see what's going on.
But yeah.
Yeah.
(12:51):
Wicked Wonderland, Eva Chase, retelling slash why choose a
book.
But yeah,
Jordan (12:59):
Thank
Devonnie (12:59):
that's my first rec.
You're welcome.
Jordan (13:01):
Thank you I'm gonna say
Right off the bat, I have a lot
of why I choose in my checklistthat I've read it's probably my
most read trope.
So I've already recommended alot.
So just to review a few, I haverecommended losers part one and
(13:23):
two.
That is probably one of my alltime favorite books, let alone
why I choose.
definitely polyamorousrelationship.
Beast the Briar by ElizabethHelen.
And I just read the arc.
I was so lucky enough to get thearc for the fourth book.
And if you're looking for afantasy why choose and you like
(13:46):
Beauty and the Beast retellings, like really twisted beauty, this
is it.
Oh, and it's definitely whychoose polyamorous.
It's definitely crossingcrossover there.
Oh, multiple
Devonnie (13:58):
Our is there
Jordan (14:00):
relationships within
relationships in this but it's
not, but it's not, I mean, it'sa little messy in the sense that
there's drama, but it's notmessy in the, like it's chef's
kiss, as you would say.
Devonnie (14:15):
Oh, okay.
Jordan (14:16):
And this is, so this is
the sister duo that writes this
there's Elizabeth and Helen.
They write under the pen name,Elizabeth Helen.
They, I believe, yeah, so thisis their first, these are their
first works.
They've put out the first fourwithin a year and a half.
And these are big books
Devonnie (14:33):
Yeah, they're kind of
thick
Jordan (14:35):
and.
They did it indie, they just gota trad deal in the uk.
So if you are in the uk, ifyou're in Australia or basically
anywhere except for Canada orthe US you can get the trad
published book.
Devonnie (14:52):
Oh.
Oh,
Jordan (14:53):
me.
But anyways, so to wa the firstbook I was like, this is kind of
awkward.
I don't like this main femalemain character.
I'm not quite sure.
But the character growth of thisfemale main character.
is such a representation oftheir writing This fan on the
sidelines that's cheering themon going like you're doing so
(15:14):
great I'm so proud of you and Ican't wait to meet them at book
scounds and crowns.
Devonnie (15:20):
It.
I have to read it before then.
Jordan (15:22):
I will be cosplaying the
first night of the convention as
The dark prince as the quoteunquote villain i'm gonna do a
gender bent and i'm so excited
Devonnie (15:32):
love that
Jordan (15:33):
Anyways, i've also
recommended some tate james
before tate james has reallygreat You Why choose., Madison
Kate series, Hades series, TheGuild.
Those are all amazing.
Check them out.
Also, Caroline Peckham andSuzanne Valenti, I mention like
every single episode.
But most of their works are whychoose?
(15:54):
And I will be featuring one, soI'm gonna start with that one
right now.
The Harley Quinn Crew.
Okay.
The first one is called Sinner'sPlayground.
This one is very different fromthe rest of theirs, I'd say.
Still has their writing style, which I love, but it's
contemporary.
It's set in their world of theUnited States of Anarchy, but
(16:15):
it's set in a fictional coastaltown in Southern California.
So the tag of the descriptionstarts with, Dead girls don't
feel pain, but they like thetaste of vengeance.
Rogue is the female maincharacter in this.
Now, she grew up in this coastaltown that is basically run by
(16:36):
this gang, right?
She grew up in the foster systemand it was her and her four best
friends who were guys Fox, JJ,Chase and Maverick.
Fox and Maverick were basicallybrothers.
Maverick was adopted, but theywere the same age.
Fox's and Maverick's dad is theleader of this gang.
(16:59):
Okay.
He's number one.
So they kind of felt under thatumbrella of protection in a way,
but they just went around thistown.
They lived on the beach as kids.
Something happens.
And they shun her and she'sforced out of town before she's
even made it out of high school.
As a teenager, she's forced out.
We don't see this on screenuntil later when there's
(17:21):
flashbacks.
So it's not like you're gettinghigh school devastation.
You're getting flashbacks ofthat later.
It's the opening scene in thisbook is her crawling out.
a shallow grave.
The guy that she had ended upwith, this is 10 years later,
the guy that she had ended upwith, in a different town
relatively far away, he ran hisown gang.
(17:43):
So she kinda, you know, youkinda stick with the life you
know.
And she did what she could tosurvive.
And she was with him and she sawsomething she shouldn't and he
strangled her what he thoughtwas to death and buried her in
an unmarked grave in a potatosack and she comes out and
figures out where she is and sheis on the outside of her
(18:03):
hometown she hasn't seen theseboys since they told her to get
the F out when she was ateenager and her whole life went
to shit, right?
Devonnie (18:11):
oh my gosh.
Jordan (18:13):
well, I'm dead.
Everyone thinks I'm deadAnyways, I might as well get
some revenge on these boys whofucked her Fucked my life.
Devonnie (18:23):
Oh
Jordan (18:23):
They were the loves of
my life.
They were all my best friends, and she comes back like
literally nothing.
She has to steal clothes off ofsomeone's line on the way, like
off their fence by the beachgoing into town.
They find her.
These boys, they looked for herafter she left, and they've
(18:45):
been, she's been on their mindfor ten years, and they didn't,
or however many years, and theydidn't, anyways, it is so good
also the space, so they grow up,Fox takes over the gang.
Right?
So Fox is now leader.
Maverick, some stuff happens, and he has now formed his own
rival gang and is trying to takeover the town.
(19:07):
JJ he owns the strip club, andhe is the hi and he is a high
end male escort.
Devonnie (19:15):
I love that
Jordan (19:16):
And Chase is a fucking
hot mess, but he's like Fox's
right hand.
She comes in and they won't lether go.
They find her like, you'restaying here.
We're not letting you out of hersight.
And she's fuck you guys.
But secretly she's I'm going tosteal all of your shit.
and fuck up your lives.
Okay, this is a whole series.
(19:37):
It's a long series, but it is sogood.
The relationships, therebuilding of trust feels real
because of the time that theseauthors put into it.
These characters are fuckingunhinged, but it is so good.
I cried when I read this.
Because these relationships,it's also the men's friendships.
(19:58):
It's like the boys are, they'reeach other's boys.
Devonnie (20:02):
right,
Jordan (20:03):
JJ has to go through an
identity crisis of my mom was a
prostitute.
I'm the highest mill and I am astripper, all this stuff.
But I, now he can't get it upfor anyone, but rogue.
So
Devonnie (20:14):
my
Jordan (20:15):
he gonna do?
It's just so good.
Any who.
You should read it, everybody.
Rogue is my hero.
She is so badass.
Devonnie (20:22):
I love that.
Jordan (20:23):
The last thing I have to
say is the Spice is so good.
It takes a while to get therebecause it's a whole huge
series.
To really ramp up, but it doesgo kind of one by one and stacks
them in natural progression withtheir, her different
relationships with them.
Devonnie (20:37):
Yeah.
Jordan (20:39):
And, I'm sorry, people
were talking about Haunting
Adeline with, you know, the gunand stuff.
I never read it because itdidn't sound like my kind of
book.
But this one has that, it hasknives, it has so many good
things.
Devonnie (20:56):
Are they good things?
What?
Unhinged?
Not good things.
Jordan (21:01):
I relinquish the floor
or whatever.
What do you say?
I,
Devonnie (21:05):
Okay, bye
Jordan (21:06):
my rant.
Sorry.
Devonnie (21:08):
Yeah, you hop it off
the you know, you know why she
did that y'all right?
Because she probably had alittle saying that she was gonna
say and then forgot it So shehad to switch it up I'm, just
letting y'all in on how jordan'sbrain works Oh,
Jordan (21:22):
that's the problem.
It doesn't work
Devonnie (21:26):
okay my next read or
my next rec Oh, here she go.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
Go ahead
Jordan (21:31):
Nope.
I'm done.
Gonna mute.
Start over.
Oh,
Devonnie (21:38):
right, guys, my next
read is actually Lilac by b.
Reid.
So this is my first b.
Reid book, but I see that shehas tons of books, like she has
A decent catalog, which I'llprobably try to get into.
But yeah, my first read wasLilac, which is actually a
rockstar romance.
I'm pretty sure this is my firstrockstar romance as well.
(21:58):
I'm trying to think back.
I feel like I've readcontemporary stories about
musicians, but not in the waythat I'm used to.
This was done, which is reallyinteresting.
So here's a little blurb that Ipieced together.
Braxton Fawn is our bad ass MF,MFC.
Braxton Fawn is our bad ass FMCwho doesn't take any shit from
(22:18):
anyone and definitely not herhot new band mates.
They ridiculously tend.
Talented trio waste no timeletting Braxton know that she
isn't who they picked to replacetheir deceased fourth band
member and Pretty much spend thetime making her life a living
hell Lauren Houston and Jerichoaka rich aka my baby daddy aka
(22:39):
my man my man Are rock gods witha huge fan base They get
everything they want.
So when they finally set theirsights on Braxton, lines get
blurred, secrets are spilled, and they all realize that they
have way more to lose than justa bandmate.
tell y'all about this book.
I know that's cute.
When I did that little summary,I was like, Oh babes, that's
(23:00):
cute.
Yeah, what I really, I will sayI listened to this book, so I'm
pretty sure I have the ebook.
Like I bought the ebook a whileago when I was first interested
in it, but I never got around toreading it.
I listened to it and.
I loved this because number one,Teddy Hamilton was one of the
narrators and the way I eat upsome Teddy Hamilton narration.
(23:23):
Okay.
Love that.
But what I especially loved wasthat each, he wasn't the only
male narrator for these boys.
He voiced Lauren, but there weretwo separate narrators for Teddy
Hamilton.
The other two guys.
And I love that because it wasso easy for me to picture them
because all three boys are verydifferent.
They are so different.
So having different voicesmatched like the carrot
(23:46):
characteristics and attitude wasreally nice.
So I'll say if you have achance, if you do think you're
going to read it, go withlistening to it.
Cause I just enjoyed it.
Jordan (23:54):
I love it when, I love
it when authors are able to do
that.
I know it's a lot
Devonnie (23:58):
It's probably a lot.
Jordan (23:59):
but it's so
Devonnie (24:01):
The payoff is so good
as a reader as a listener the
payoff when authors are able todo this are just it's just
really good This like havingseparate characters or narrators
for each character and alsohaving an actual duet narration
I think are like top tier leagueaudio book listens for me like
they just work so well but yeah, this story was it was really the
(24:24):
pacing was Slow, but not in a,Oh, this is awfully slow as in
there was so much underlyingplot and there were so many
secrets that you kind of had to,keep going with it as they were
trying to get in, trying to getinto their separate
relationships and the boysstopped bullying her basically.
Jordan (24:41):
Oh, I love a good bully.
Okay.
Devonnie (24:44):
it's not it doesn't
last long though because they
pretty much crumbled
Jordan (24:47):
Oh, a spine
Devonnie (24:49):
Yeah.
No, they had no smile once theygot once they realized it was
like, oh, that's our girl
Jordan (24:55):
Okay.
I mean, that's good.
But yeah.
Devonnie (24:57):
yes my of course like
so this has an relationship I
don't want to give too much awayBut it, it comes up very quick.
Something is said in passing atthe beginning of the book.
And I said, huh, it was supposedto be an insult.
But I was like, wait a minute.
Two of the male characters havebeen with each other years ago,
(25:18):
I guess.
But now they're all just bestfriends.
There was no like tension.
Do you get this one throwawaycomment and you're like, huh.
But you don't see it until theyactually start talking about it.
And there is a scene where shesays that what she wants is for
just them to get together whileshe pretty much just watches.
Jordan (25:37):
love that.
I love that.
Devonnie (25:40):
I was fighting for my
life.
Listening to that scene, washingthe dishes, gripping the sink.
What is happening?
Excuse
Jordan (25:47):
Zodiac Academy, Beast of
the Briar, that almost exact
scene happens too.
So I
Devonnie (25:53):
You said Zodiac
Academy.
Jordan (25:56):
Well, not that watching,
but like the friends where
there's a throwaway commentthat's in Zodiac Academy.
Devonnie (26:03):
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Jordan (26:05):
and, but Beasts of the
Briar, that exact thing is no,
Devonnie (26:08):
It happened.
Yeah.
You too.
Jordan (26:10):
I'll be over here.
Don't mind
Devonnie (26:12):
Huh.
Huh.
Huh.
I loved it.
Yeah.
And this is contemporary.
So if you're, it's not like aparanormal or a fantasy read.
It's very contemporary.
I will say definitely check thetrigger warnings for this book
because there is some likereligious stuff.
There was a 13 year old beingmarried, which is crazy.
So yeah, just read the triggerwarnings.
I don't want to give away toomany of the trigger warnings
(26:33):
because I feel like that canalso give away the storyline.
But that, that one was like,Ooh, cringy for me, like the
religion and the 13 year oldbeing married because of the
religion.
I just feel like I should putthat out there.
If that is like not your thing,it doesn't take up a lot, but it
is a driving force for why ourFMC is the way she is.
It's not, it doesn't happen toher, but it is a cause.
Jordan (26:54):
Please check trigger
warnings on
Devonnie (26:56):
in general yeah.
Yeah.
Jordan (26:58):
here.
We can't list them all.
There's just no way.
We give you too many recs to beable to mine that for you.
Take responsibility for yourreading.
Check the trigger warnings.
Devonnie (27:08):
For sure.
Especially with this list y'all, today's episode, please check
don't even come and tell us howyou didn't know this was in a
book because I'm telling youright now, just check it.
These books are not for thefaint of heart.
Okay.
But yeah, so that was lilac byBB Reed.
It's very interesting.
The name of the book is veryinteresting.
I'm not going to give that away, but that's also, yeah.
(27:28):
A thing.
Yeah, I like that.
Jordan (27:32):
And I see, I've seen
lilac around so much and I've
always been curious about it.
It's just one of those, I'm notreally big on rock star romance,
so I didn't ever pick it up, butI'm so glad you did because now
I'm curious.
Devonnie (27:44):
yeah, no.
And it is a thick book.
Like I've seen it on the shelvesat Barnes and Noble and it is
very thick and I will say it isvery long.
I, that's one thing I think itshould be shorter.
It could be short.
It's just that we're on tourwith them and that's why it's
long.
So
Jordan (27:59):
Okay.
Piqued my interest.
My next rec is, I'm going to gocompletely different.
I'm going to go a bit omegaverse this is definitely a Y
choose.
This was my first trueOmegaverse.
And I think it's also a reallygood intro.
You have to love spice.
It's very open door and there'sa lot of explicit, but you're
(28:23):
going to need to love spice.
Really with.
any of my recs, but if you'relooking to try Omegaverse and
you've been wondering what it'sabout, this is perfect because
I'm going to read you thedescription.
So Packed Darling by Lola Rock.
And there's two books.
It's just part one and part two.
You don't have to rememberdifferent names.
They're both Packed Darling.
After surviving childhood at thesnooty, stuck up boarding school
(28:46):
for budding omegas, I haveeveryone convinced I'm a dud.
My awakening?
Never gonna happen.
Heat, mates, and a fairytalepack life?
Maybe next reincarnation.
All I want is to be left alone.
I'm invisible, headed to ablissful solo, until the wyvern
(29:06):
pack destroys my dream ofindependence.
Atlas, Hunter, Finn, Jet, andOrion are poison candy.
They don't want an Omega.
But they need one, even ifthere'll never be a real spot
for me in their pack.
Who needs a pack?
I'll keep myself safe, same asalways.
(29:28):
I'll never awaken, and I'llnever give the wyverns my heart,
because all they'll do is rip meapart.
Devonnie (29:35):
The amount of names
interesting.
Yeah.
Jordan (29:43):
she's an omega, one of
them is actually another omega.
So they already have a maleomega, but he is not a scent
match.
So when you're readingOmegaverse, when you're building
a pack, there is such thing as ascent match, and that's where
they go feral.
For a scent, for someone'sscent, because everyone has a
(30:04):
very distinctive scent, right?
And some, you're, make you feelat ease.
They, every scent makes you feelsomething.
And it's at a base, primallevel.
This is not a shifter romance.
So for those unfamiliar, this isnot shifter.
It's just, it's like a socialhierarchy.
And a, like a, it's almost likein their DNA.
(30:27):
You are an alpha, omega, or abeta,
Devonnie (30:30):
Yeah.
Jordan (30:31):
okay?
They have a non scent match.
Omega already because one of thealphas has always been in love
with him.
And they've known these alphasare together.
Their dads run basically this,it's kind of like a gang,
they're the wyvern pack is whatthey are.
She is poor at this academy thateverybody has to attend, all
(30:51):
omegas do, to teach you how tobe an omega.
She has suppressed her hormonesher entire life.
She has never had a period.
She's She's a legal adult.
She has starved herself.
She overworks out every day.
There are a lot of triggers ifyou have like sensitivity to
eating disorder or anything likethat.
She does it with a purpose, notfor self image.
(31:14):
But it's more for like her ownpreservation.
She doesn't want to be a part ofa pack.
She doesn't want to feel likeshe's owned by alphas.
secretly, she is more powerfulthan any Omega that's walked
through this door, these doors,though.
She is a scent match foreverybody for this pack.
There's a lot of, also, traumafrom her past, she knew one of
(31:35):
the alphas when she was a kid,and she's known she was a match
with him because of the way theywere when they were kids.
Their dads force her, becausethey own the school, Basically
blackmail her into being anOmega for them.
She comes in, the other Omega isvery territorial, so it's this
play thing and she tells them
Devonnie (31:55):
play,
Jordan (31:55):
Yeah, she tries to be as
small as possible and be like,
Don't worry, I'm not here tosteal.
Well, of course, things happen.
She actually comes to and feelconnected to this Omega.
She's using like scentsuppressants, everything, but
eventually she does get her heatand things go terribly wrong.
And it's.
Devonnie (32:16):
All right!
Jordan (32:17):
it no, not
Devonnie (32:18):
Oh no!
Jordan (32:19):
It doesn't go right.
It is trauma.
It's so hard and it ends on ahorrible cliffhanger.
But the next book is right therefor you.
I listened to this on, audiobook, and it was so good.
Devonnie (32:31):
I'm gonna go add it to
my cart because I actually want
to read this.
Jordan (32:35):
I recommend this as a
beginning Omegaverse because it
lays out the rules of anOmegaverse very naturally.
And you really learn a lot aboutit.
Dev is looking it up and hereyes just went.
It's so wide.
It has a really good rating.
It has a 4.
204 on Goodreads with over 15,000 ratings.
(32:57):
So the writing is
Devonnie (32:59):
on Libby.
Jordan (33:00):
The writing is amazing.
These characters are all sorich, and you get to know them,
and you feel so connected, andthen the spice, once it hits,
closer to book two, but yougotta, by the time it hits, then
you are going into heat withher, and you are like, right
there, it is worth it.
Devonnie (33:20):
with her.
That's hilarious.
Jordan (33:22):
anyways, I'm talking way
too much about these.
So that's that, Pack Darling,Lola Rock, get it girl, it's
amazing.
Devonnie (33:30):
I love that.
Which is crazy because my nextone is actually also an
Omegaverse.
That's why I was like, oh my
Jordan (33:37):
Oh, perfect.
Devonnie (33:38):
So I have an
Omegaverse it's by Liliana
Carlyle.
It's called the bounty.
And this is very base level.
Like I would consider this superentry level Omega verse as well.
Again, no, it's not a shift orromance.
They're not turning into wolvesor anything, but it is also
dystopian.
So it is dystopian.
(34:00):
It's Omega verse and it's.
A why choose romance, I guessit's labeled as a why choose the
fmc is like literally When Itell you this girl is also doing
everything in her power not tobe found by these alphas It's
dystopian.
So they're like it's givinghandmaid's tale actually, where
(34:22):
omegas are being rounded up.
Like you cannot have money.
You cannot contact your family.
You are rounded up and kept inlike this mansion or something
to literally be at the serviceand pleasure of whoever,
whatever alphas come in andcollect you.
It is so icky, but she is on therun.
(34:42):
She has been like feedingherself.
She has suppressant.
She's.
been doing everything she can tonot be discovered.
Well, one day it goes terriblywrong.
It goes terribly wrong.
And someone sent her, I thinkshe cuts herself and her blood
is left by, so
Jordan (35:01):
bella
Devonnie (35:02):
right.
Jordan (35:04):
Christina's not here,
but I have to make the twilight
Devonnie (35:06):
Yeah, of course.
Jordan (35:08):
Jasper, no! What
Devonnie (35:13):
Stop.
This girl is on the run from thegovernment.
Y'all not Bella.
Anyway.
Yeah.
So she's on the run from thegovernment.
Jordan (35:20):
say?
Devonnie (35:23):
Shut up.
Unhinged.
This is Christina's kind ofconversation
Jordan (35:26):
I know, I have to
represent.
Devonnie (35:28):
Yeah.
Yeah.
So anyway the alphas find herand they're pretty much we're
keeping you.
So this becomes an issue becausenot everyone is in agreement.
Some people think they need toturn her in, sent, let the
government take her.
Cause you, if you're an alpha, you also can't keep your own
Omega.
Like they need to be for this.
for the sharing because we needthe population to keep going.
(35:49):
It's dystopian.
You see what I'm saying?
So you can't just have your ownOmega, my love share.
Jordan (35:54):
Ew.
Devonnie (35:55):
Anyway.
So they're not all in agreement, which is really icky.
But she makes a deal.
She's she kind of latches ontothe one who doesn't really want
her there.
And it's I will leave.
I just need to call my parents.
I need to figure out a way toget safe.
I will get to them.
Just help me, but I don't wantto give too much away.
It is a standalone.
So you'll be in and out realquick.
It's.
The spice does start to spiceespecially once they all realize
(36:18):
okay, no, you're lying.
You just she goes into heat.
She start, oh my, my favoritething in Omegaverse is when they
start making nests.
Jordan (36:25):
Yes, the nesting is so
cute.
Devonnie (36:28):
I think it
Jordan (36:28):
a lot of that in mine
too, in fact, darling.
Oh,
Devonnie (36:32):
my favorite part.
My favorite part.
So she's they didn't, they don'trealize what's happening, but
they know, you know, and she'slike bringing all these blankets
and she's laying them in acircle and they're all just
looking at her.
This is interesting.
You know, you don't smell likean Omega, but you're making a
little mess here.
And then they all help her andfind like all the things.
I don't it's very touching andvery sweet.
But yeah, I would label this asbeginner Omega verse with a cool
(36:55):
dystopian twist on it.
So
Jordan (36:59):
Sounds
Devonnie (36:59):
she got three, three.
It is a little dark, especiallythe government aspect because
the government literally ownthese women's bodies.
It's really weird.
And you have to be like a highrolling alpha who comes in like
suits you off your feet.
But then there is, there's a lotgoing on, especially because
someone's family member is acthas actually been taken there.
And that's why they're like allagainst the, Pack that we meet,
(37:23):
they're against the place thatthe government is keeping the
omegas because one of them has afamily member there and they
wanna get her out.
Yeah.
So yeah, go check that out.
The Bounty by Liliana Carlisle.
Jordan (37:35):
I like it.
Okay, we're gonna go dark here.
This is quite possibly Thismight be one of the darkest
things i've ever read.
This is the series that I quotedat the beginning of this
episode.
So Rich Demons of Darkwood.
Number one is Make Me Lie by C.
R.
Jane and Mae Dawson.
(37:56):
I have not finished the lastbook.
I might even have a book and ahalf left because I hit a
trigger and I had to step away.
I intend to go back when I feelmentally prepared.
It was like book four, I think, where I stepped away.
I'm gonna read the descriptionfrom Goodreads, but I'm gonna
interject my own commentsthroughout.
Devonnie (38:17):
Okay.
Jordan (38:18):
The world knows me as
the Demon's Daughter.
He's a famous serial killer, andI have been his accomplice.
no one knows for sure, exceptfor me, The dangerous cruel men
of the Sphinx Secret Societyintend to uncover my secrets.
And break me.
Stellan! My childhood crush wholost his sister to the demon.
(38:42):
Kane, the boy with the face ofan angel who manipulation comes
as easy as breathing.
And Remington, the playboysoccer star full of secrets.
Pax, the dark psycho who hidesbehind his fists.
I hoped for a second chance atDarkwood University, only to
have my dream ripped away thefirst time I kissed one of the
(39:03):
handsome bastards.
She had plastic surgery on herface to change so people would
not recognize her as the mostnotorious serial killer's
daughter in the country, ever tohave it.
Her mother left her on a parkbench when she was super little.
She went into foster care.
One night in this horrible, abusive foster care situation,
(39:25):
because isn't that always thecase in these books?
Her dad came and saved her.
Because he finally found her andtracked her down, only to find
out that he's a seri She grew upwith him for most of her
childhood, almost until she wasan adult, and he forced her to
be his accomplice in the mostgraphic, terrifying ways.
(39:45):
Super trigger warnings.
I promise you, if you have atrigger warning, it occurs in
this series.
Devonnie (39:52):
my
Jordan (39:53):
like almost guarantee
it.
Okay, but
Devonnie (39:57):
not a happy butt
Jordan (40:00):
I was enthralled.
Okay, and it's also bullyromance because these boys are
so she goes to university Aftershe helps get her dad So she
seeks out the FBI, like she'sthe one who turns him in, but is
it enough to forgive?
And there's apparently secretevidence later.
She finds out that she was anaccomplice.
And so there's there's lots ofdrama, like Stellan, who's at
(40:22):
this university.
She didn't know he was there, but she got like a full new
look.
She's a different person becauseof her.
Plastic surgery, right?
Devonnie (40:30):
Oh my God.
For some reason I'm seeing likea hodgepodge face.
Jordan (40:33):
I know, but apparently
she's super hot.
Yeah, of course.
But Stellan was her first bo anonly boyfriend.
Secret boyfriend.
She loved him as a kid when shewas still with the demon.
They lived next door, and hissister was her best friend, but
her sister went missing and wasfound dead.
(40:53):
So he blames her, once he foundout who the demon was.
Him and his three best friendsthat are a part of the secret
society, because, oh surprise.
They're rich as fuck.
And run everything.
And one of them is, anyways it'sa big, messy, dark thing.
There's other they've murderedpeople And it gets into a lot of
unaliving and different stuff, but if you like dark romance,
(41:18):
and this sounds like your thing,if you're looking for a darker
Why choose.
version of Bryn Weaver's work, this is it.
You see where I'm going?
That's, this is it.
If you know anything about CRJand CRJ writes dark stuff.
This is my first Jane Dawson, but whoo it's heavy, but it's
(41:39):
good.
And the spice is really goodtoo.
And I just love her.
I love, I wanted to see thisfemale main character like
rediscover herself because shehas to accept the dark parts of
her, right?
Because she's grown up withthis, it's ingrained in her, but
she has to find what she reallybelieves in, where her lines
are.
(41:59):
And that's really what.
Draws me to this series.
Devonnie (42:05):
Okay.
Yeah.
I don't know if I can get intosomething so dark, but I was so
curious.
Jordan (42:10):
No, it's not for
everybody.
It's not for everybody.
Definitely not.
Not, probably not even for most.
But, if it is.
Devonnie (42:16):
you're gonna love it.
All right.
I have one last rec.
This is definitely a why choosesituation, but when I tell you
this was when I first read thisa couple of years ago now, I
think this, Immediately becameone of my favorite books.
And it's also a part of aseries, which is very popular.
(42:37):
This book is give me more bySarah Kate and it is book three
in the salacious players club, which a lot of people know
about.
It's a very popular series.
I think book one is talked abouta lot.
That one is praise, sorry, notpraise.
The book two is.
Mercy book two might be, I can'tremember.
No eyes on me.
Jordan (42:58):
Did you recommend Praise
Devonnie (42:59):
Maybe.
I think I may have spoken aboutpraise because praise we, when
we did a good girl, maybe thatgood girl episode, I feel like
that would have fit in there.
But yes give me more is.
This is also from, with thequote that I did earlier in the
episode.
Oh my gosh.
Just thinking about this bookliterally gives me goosebumps.
So the salacious players club islike a kink club that a couple
(43:23):
of friends own and yeah, peoplego there.
It's wildly popular and that islike the binding thing for the
entire series, right?
Every, it follows like differentpeople within the club.
Give me more follows Hunter,Isabel and Drake.
Hunter and Isabel are married.
But Hunter, Isabel, and Drakehave literally known each other
(43:45):
since they were like teenagers,16, 17 years old.
Hunter and Drake were bestfriends when they first saw
Isabel, and technically, Drakesaw her first, but Hunter fell
he was, he became obsessed, oryeah, pretty much he called
Silent Dibs.
And so when him and Isabelstarted dating and whatever,
(44:09):
Drake was also always therebecause that was like a no go
for Hunter.
Their backgrounds like forcedHunter and Drake together, like
they were best friends.
Kind of like surviving the worldtogether, best friends.
So it wasn't a situation wherehe got with this woman and he
like threw his best friend tothe side.
Never happened.
So they're always together.
And Isabel also, she lovesDrake, right?
(44:29):
That's bestie.
Now we're all three besties.
They do everything together.
Jordan (44:32):
You want your partner's
best friend to be close with
you?
Devonnie (44:36):
Yeah, exactly.
Jordan (44:39):
I mean,
Devonnie (44:40):
Probably not
Jordan (44:40):
don't in know.
I was like, not in a real life.
I don't, but like
Devonnie (44:44):
In
Jordan (44:45):
a nice idea.
Devonnie (44:46):
So yeah.
Very nice idea
Jordan (44:48):
I think about mine and
I'm like
Devonnie (44:49):
Absolutely not.
No best friends, babe.
But so I will say that part of,so hunt Drake, sorry.
Drake is very openly oh ho.
I'm gonna just say like that.
He calls himself much worse.
Everyone calls him much worse.
But he is very, yeah, he is veryin tune with his sexuality.
He bets for no single team, likehe's for the streets, he is for
(45:10):
everybody.
Everyone knows that about him.
However, it becomes a crutchmask that he uses to ignore his
deeper feelings.
Yeah.
Crutch.
He uses that to not really.
Own up to his own feelings andyou start to see that way down
on his character while Hunterand isabel, i'm not sure but one
(45:33):
day they just decide that theywant a little something else,
but mainly because hunter grewup with a dad who literally
would try to beat the gay out ofhim,
Jordan (45:49):
Homophobic.
Homophobic.
Devonnie (45:50):
Yes, he was very
homophobic, but not that You He
had a reason to believe thatwith Hunter, but if they were at
the beach and he saw somethinglike that, he would look to his
son and be like, you know, makereally weird comments.
So Hunter has this verysuppressed sexuality that he
doesn't even look at.
And he loves his wife to befair.
He's obsessed with her.
There was no question, butthere's a part of him that has
(46:12):
always been suppressed.
And you start to think maybethat's the reason that he's kept
Drake around all this time.
Well, they decide to give it ago.
And what that's the You get alittle pushback from Hunter
because at first it becomes athing where he just wants Isabel
to be happy.
So it's he's going to let themdo their thing, but he can't
give into Drake.
(46:33):
He just can't.
He doesn't know how, but it's,he loves Drake.
When I tell you this man loveshis best friend, he loves his
best friend in his, you can hearit in his own monologues, like
how he views Drake, how he viewsIsabel.
Isabel and then how he talksabout himself.
It's
Jordan (46:50):
one of his people.
It's
Devonnie (46:51):
and that is actually a
quote from the book too where he
says something about if we'regoing to ever have soulmates or
something, then he is mine.
And he's talking about his, itis so cute.
The spice is so hot.
This is so hot because ofcourse, Drake also loves Isabel.
Isabel loves them both.
Like y'all, I
Jordan (47:10):
Ah, more to
Devonnie (47:12):
cannot tell you, I
cannot tell you how hot the
spice is like Richter scale offof it.
Gone in the stratosphere.
Like it is so hot because youalso have the element of the
club in it too, where
Jordan (47:25):
Oh, I forgot about the
Devonnie (47:26):
go on.
You see what I'm saying?
You see what I'm
Jordan (47:29):
I forgot about the club.
Devonnie (47:31):
So think about a
throuple date night at the club.
It's crazy.
Jordan (47:35):
I can, because it
happens in losers too, but
there's five of them and they goto the Yeah.
Devonnie (47:41):
see, yeah, like that,
like a good club scene.
And yeah, there's just, it'sreally good.
And I'm saying the spice isreally good.
And I love that.
Read it for the spice alonetruly, but the actual growth,
the characters make this book sowholesome watching Hunter,
accept himself and in turn trulyaccept his best friend even more
(48:01):
than he already does.
Right.
Because accepting yourself meansacknowledging this other person.
Who's been like, This, his wholelife and free.
And just also just the respecthe has for his wife.
It's gorgeous.
It's beautiful.
I love it so much.
I just, yeah.
And coming off of book two, sorry, coming off of book two,
which wasn't my favorite in theseries.
I didn't have high hopes forbook three, but reading book
(48:23):
three.
Push me to read the entireseries.
Jordan (48:27):
Okay.
I just I'm so glad you said thatabout the characters because.
While we talk about the Spice alot, and we talk about Smut, and
we talk about all this stuff, all these fun things about
Romance in general, butspecifically it comes up a lot
in Why Choose Because there's somuch, there's more options,
Devonnie (48:46):
there's,
Jordan (48:47):
For me, if I'm ever
asked why I read so much
Romance, my number one reason isnot the smut.
Yes, I prefer my books to havesmut, but it is for the
character development.
It is for the relationships.
It is to watch good writing, the, when there is good writing
in romance and this tropespecifically, Is.
(49:10):
So moving and it is, it causesyou to think about yourself in
different ways.
It causes you to think aboutpeople in your own life and
situations differently.
And I love it so much.
And that is probably why this ismy favorite trope or subgenre,
whatever you want to considerthis, because there's more of it
(49:31):
because you have more players inthe game.
You have more people you'refocusing on.
You have one person in.
two to five relationships atonce and yes, it gets dramatic
and messy sometimes, but it'salso so rewarding to read about
And watch the development unfoldwatch these characters come into
(49:52):
their own and embrace that life.
And it's so amazing.
I love it so
Devonnie (49:57):
I agree.
I wholeheartedly agree.
We read romance because at theend of the day, we love seeing
people being loved loudly, beingloved well, just, we love it.
We love the romance aspect ofit.
So yeah, when the writing isgood, when it has the spice, but
when you get to see thesecharacters flourish and just
learn about themselves and alsowhen you can connect or relate,
(50:20):
it's.
I think that's really what makesthe genre and it's just there's
just so much there's so manydifferent types of it So yeah,
and when you get to see I'm
Jordan (50:31):
it's like you're there.
It's like you're
Devonnie (50:33):
Oh my gosh.
It is so good But yeah, thoseare my recs.
So check them out, please.
Jordan (50:42):
with that said, I think
our last recommendation that we
both highly recommend, we'vementioned it before on the pod,
but speaking of.
watching relationships unfurlbroken bonds book one in the
bonds that tie series by jaybrie we've mentioned it before
(51:02):
we've briefly talked about itBut we wanted to go a little bit
more in depth and describe itfor you here because it is for
me, this is the book thatintroduced Why choose.
to me, which is a doozy becausethere are a lot of men involved.
There are
Devonnie (51:18):
Yes.
Jordan (51:18):
2, 3, 4 men.
Devonnie (51:20):
Five?
Four?
Jordan (51:22):
five, sorry.
Hello Atlas.
Devonnie (51:25):
I knew it was Atlas,
you were forgetting.
Jordan (51:28):
no, because I'm
picturing the gr That's the way
I picture the beginning.
Anyways, so the bonds that tieby J Bree let's set the scene
for you.
After the death of my mother andher bonded, Side note, bonded is
this world's version of mates.
I was relieved to find my ownbonds.
She was a teenager.
I was sure everything would beokay if I had them.
(51:49):
I wasn't.
The fate of our people is in myhands and I know we're better
off if I'm alone.
After five years on the run, I'mcaught and dragged back to face
the men I ran away from.
I thought I was doing the rightthing.
Now I'm not so sure.
North knocks Griffin.
Atlas and Gabe may never forgiveme, but one thing is for sure, I
(52:14):
won't ever forgive myself.
So this is a rejected mate, sherejects her mates.
Okay, so much trauma.
There's some pretty heavy stuffthat they went through that
they're mentioned and thatthey're still processing.
So please check trigger warningsfor that.
I would consider this a slowburn because this is a long
series.
But the spice doesn't really itdoes not hit the first book.
(52:37):
It doesn't hit until it startsto hit the second book
Devonnie (52:41):
Middle of the second
book at that.
Jordan (52:43):
I've listened to this
book.
So I have them all in audio.
I bought them all.
That's how much I loved themAnd, I've listened to them at
least three or four times.
This
Devonnie (52:53):
I've never listened to
it.
That's so interesting.
I might want to listen to it.
I've only ever read I read itall on Kindle and then I re read
all the physicals.
Jordan (53:01):
Okay.
I do have two major plot pointsthat need answering from Jabri.
Okay?
This is just for Jabri.
Devonnie (53:12):
J.
Brie, if
Jordan (53:13):
What is Ollie's
incidental?
It's never fucking mentioned.
Love you, Jay.
Devonnie (53:18):
made a post.
She Oh my gosh, I forgot.
She where did I see this?
She made a post.
I don't know.
Jordan (53:25):
No.
I'm like itching.
No.
How did I miss it?
I follow her
Devonnie (53:29):
She made a post, but I
don't think she mentioned, she
doesn't say what it is, but shesays something like, I can't
believe it's right there in thebook.
You guys can't
Jordan (53:37):
No, it's not.
No, it's not.
Devonnie (53:39):
And that's what I said
when I read that.
It's not clear.
Jordan (53:42):
because if she's saying
it's the thing where she sees
everybody, it's not, becausethat's part of her other,
anyways.
I don't want to give everythingaway yet.
I think what we need to do is abonus episode just of this
series where we break it alldown.
Devonnie (53:53):
Yes.
Jordan (53:54):
the other thing is,
Devonnie (53:56):
Griffin is my man.
Jordan (53:57):
Oh, no, you'll, I'll
fight him for you.
Honey, I would even share.
I would even share.
I don't believe in sharing withother women.
I don't, but when it's allabout, as long as the
attention's all on me, I don'tcare.
But with you, I mean, we couldIt could be like a divorce
parent situation where we canjust
Devonnie (54:13):
Griffin! Griffin
mother effing shore.
Oh my the man that you are man
Jordan (54:23):
Atlas.
I mean But, okay, and I thinkfor me, Atlas would have been
even better if he would havestepped up his bedroom game a
little bit differently.
But they didn't get enough oneon one time.
They didn't get enough one onone time, I think is the
problem.
Devonnie (54:34):
They did it.
They did it This is paranormal.
Did we mention that this is aparanormal?
Jordan (54:40):
So bonds are like mates.
But the way it's preprocessed,so it's a world like ours.
There are humans just like ours.
The society is like ours.
The only difference is there areessentially humans with
superpowers.
They each have a gift or one tothree gifts, depending on their
power levels their power iscalled bonds, and they find
(55:00):
their bonded, which is like asoulmate, and they are, it
literally says they aredifferent pieces of the same
star, or soul There's onecentral bond, and then she has
her bonded.
Olly is the central bond tothese five and, well, they
become bonded.
They're bonds, and then they'rebonded once they solidify their
(55:21):
bond.
By fucking
Devonnie (55:24):
Yeah.
Jordan (55:25):
Sorry, by cumming,
specifically.
Cause you gotta be able to makethem cum to solidify
Devonnie (55:31):
Literally.
Literally.
Jordan (55:34):
it is And
Devonnie (55:36):
It is so
Jordan (55:37):
we'll leave it.
I mean
Devonnie (55:38):
I know people don't,
there are a weird group of
people who don't enjoy thisbook, but I will never be one of
Jordan (55:43):
well because they're
Devonnie (55:44):
never make me hate
you.
Jordan (55:45):
no but they're all there
are a few things that I wish I
could sit down and talk to jayabout
Devonnie (55:50):
for sure.
She needs to come on come onlive and literally just
Jordan (55:54):
We will question you and
love you.
No matter what, please We willhave you if anyone wants to see
her on here.
Just hit her up be like, hey,you should go
Devonnie (56:04):
yeah.
Tag the podcast in her comments,
Jordan (56:07):
in her comments be like
Devonnie jordan from romance
Recs would love to chat in avery welcoming way
Devonnie (56:16):
Right.
Jordan (56:16):
All the love,
Devonnie (56:17):
love her.
Jordan (56:18):
I wish there was some
more groveling?
And that's the one thing thatChristina mentioned that I,
looking back, I never thoughtabout it, but looking back and
being more seasoned in romancereads since I first read this,
there could have been moregroveling.
Devonnie (56:31):
Especially after,
yeah, how they treated her.
Yeah.
Jordan (56:34):
but I think the thing
with this series is they just
wanted to move forward so
Devonnie (56:38):
Right.
Jordan (56:39):
Ollie also had her own
guilt.
And so she wanted to moveforward too.
So anyways, I think we shouldhave a special episode just for
this series.
If you're up for that, pleaselet us know because we're
Devonnie (56:49):
Please let us know.
Yes.
All good things to say aboutthis series.
But yeah we, this is probably anepisode in itself.
Like we can talk about this.
Series forever.
Jordan (56:59):
We'll do it regardless,
but let
Devonnie (57:00):
yeah, right?
Just so you know,
