Let's begin, shall we?
A fox was boasting to a cat ofits clever devices for escaping
its enemies.
I have a whole bag of tricks,he said, which contains a
hundred ways of escaping myenemies.

I only have one, said the cat.
Well, I can generally managewith that.
Just at that moment, they heardthe cry of a pack of hounds
coming toward them, and the catimmediately scampered up a tree

This is my plan, said the cat.

The fox thought first of oneway, then another, and while he

was debating, the hounds camenearer and nearer and at last
the fox, in his confusion, wascaught up by the hounds and soon
killed by the huntsman.
Miss Puss, who had been lookingon, said Better one safe way
