• A sleeping lion is awakened by a mouse running across him
• The lion captures the mouse and prepares to eat him
• The mouse begs for mercy, promising to help the lion someday
• The lion laughs at this idea but releases the mouse anyway
• Later, hunters capture the lion and bind him with ropes
• The mouse finds the trapped lion and gnaws through the ropes, freeing him
• The mouse reminds the lion that "little friends may prove great friends"

Let's learn something together.
Once, when a lion was asleep, alittle mouse began running up
and down upon him.
This soon wakened the lion, whoplaced his huge paw upon him
(00:47):
and opened his big jaws toswallow him.
Pardon O king cried the littlemouse.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Forgive me this time.
I shall never forget it.
Who knows, but what I may beable to do you a turn some of
these days.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
The lion was so tickled at the idea of the mouse
being able to help him that itlifted up his paw and let him go
Some time after.
The lion was caught in a trapand the hunters who desired to
carry him alive to the king tiedhim to a tree while they went
(01:36):
in search of a wagon to carryhim on.
Just then the little mousehappened to pass by and, seeing
the sad plight in which the lionwas, went up to him and soon
gnawed away the ropes that boundthe king of beasts.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Was I not right?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
said the little mouse , little friends may prove great
friends.
