And I'm Taryn Soa,
your social media sidekick.
I run all things behind thescenes at Rock's Talks, While
being the right hand woman toRoxanne, I also strategize and
manage our full social mediaplan.
So I would love to share withyou the tips, the happenings,
(00:50):
all the things going on in thesocial media world.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Each week, we're here
to give you the latest and
greatest direct selling, socialselling, network marketing,
whatever you like to call it.
The end game is for you toreally understand your business,
understand yourself and yourbrand and to rock it on social
media.
Last, I don't remember it.
Sometimes I have greatness andit's not recording y'all.
(01:17):
It's like last day for shipping, I don't know it was like last
minute ideas for you.
I have to remake sure that I'malways on record.
Scott doesn't like it when Ijust hit the record button when
he's not ready and I'm like, butyou have to, because sometimes
the gold happens.
Then, like last minute thingsyou can do so that you can get
(01:42):
more people shopping with you, that'll work.
It wasn't quite that that works, there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
You guys get the vibe
now.
Okay, last minute ideas.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I'll give it to
someone special.
Okay, so your last day ofshipping is like now, or almost
now, or it's like now, andyou're looking at your sales and
you're like what to do.
What to do?
What to do?
Pity the ladies and waiting, pity the gentlemen.
Two, four, six, eight, 10, 11,12.
Okay, that was a music question, like a long time ago.
(02:13):
I can do your high Once upon amattress.
Look it up.
Okay, so today we thought we'dtalk about things you can do to
get a little more sales for you.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
A little more cushion
, a little more cushion in there
.
Yeah, you still got time.
We are not at the finish lineyet.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
We're close.
I see it.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I see it in the
distance it's coming, it's
coming Dun dun, dun, dun, dundun.
But let's do that last minutesprint.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Dun, dun, dun, dun
dun.
Okay.
So, first and foremost, youhave to start with the thing
between your ears and say it'snot over, it ain't over, it's
not over.
Remember that song?
It was like one of the AmericanIdol people it's not over, so
it's not over.
You might be thinking, like yousaid, you can see the finish
(03:00):
line, but it's not over, and youhave to say to yourself I can
do this.
There are more sales, there aremore people who are looking for
holiday deals, for gifts, and so, even if I can't think about
them right now, today's the daythey're going to come to me.
I'm going to hear from peopleI've been reaching out to and
I'm going to remember people whosaid reach out to me, but this
(03:22):
is going to happen, and I don'tcare if you look at yourself in
the mirror or not, but you needto say that to yourself, because
if you start this period, thinkof it you're like in a marathon
or the Olympics, which I loveso much.
If you are so close, you'relike I can't do it, I can't
stick the landing, I can't swimanother stroke.
(03:44):
They're going to beat me.
Guess what they're going tobeat you.
They are, they're totally goingto happen, you're not going to
get there.
So first, you have to literallybelieve.
Even if you're suspendingreality, even if you're like I
am cray cray for thinking thisis going to happen, you need to
think it's going to happen.
Well, there were times when Iwas running my business where I
(04:04):
had a deadline or a goal and Ithought there is no way, no how,
and everyone's like, oh sweet, that's sweet.
You want how much in how muchtime?
Not gonna happen.
And I was like I believe.
And every day I'm like I'mbelieve.
I don't know how it's gonnahappen, but it's going to come
to me.
You have to believe that.
Second thing you have to do isstop trying to control the
(04:26):
situation.
Now listen direct sellers, social sellers, you know we are
really good at trying to controlthings.
You have to say to yourself I'mgonna do the things that I know
are in my power and I'm goingto receive and be open to the
fact that the sales, the goals, are gonna happen in a way that I
(04:47):
didn't even imagine.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Right, right.
You don't need to control somuch the outcome or the how.
You just take the action andyou open it up for something to
come back.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Cause.
Otherwise, if you don't, you'regonna be fixating on those
three names.
So let's say it's like Tarynand Jack and Jill and I'm like
Taryn and Jack and Jill, thereare the ways I'm gonna get there
.
And then that means you startliterally water torturing them.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Yeah, and Taryn's at
the beach, like she doesn't have
time to chat.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
She's not trying to
mess with you and you're
nonsense.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
No, no, she's done
Christmas shopping.
She is on holiday.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Holiday and the
cray-cray thing is that Lucinda
is sitting here going gosh.
I wish I had the perfect thingif someone would just reach out
to me and give him an idea.
But you don't see Lucinda causeyou're so fixated on.
Taryn is the way.
Yep, oh, I like that one CoolBend that time between the head,
(05:45):
knowing that it's gonna happen, and also deciding you're not
gonna control it.
You're gonna do what you can do, but you're not going to fixate
and be like that is the onlyway this is gonna happen, Mm-hmm
.
The next thing I want you to dois take a moment and go okay,
so who do I have in my bailiwigthat has shown some interest
(06:08):
that I have not spoken to sinceBlack Friday?
Oh, Because there's probablysomeone there that you have not
talked to since you like toldthem about their Black Friday
deals and they're like I'm notinterested.
You might need to circle backon Mm-hmm.
Okay, Once you make that listand you identify who those
(06:32):
people are, go a little furtherback, and this is a good time to
go back into all the differentways that you communicate with
people and see who you'veforgotten.
Now I know, listen, if you don'thave a system that teaches you
or that keeps it organized, oneof my least favorite DM places
least favorite is the gram.
The gram is so unorganized whenit comes to looking at your DMs
(06:52):
, Like there's no oh yeah, it'sjust who talked to you last, and
sometimes it's not even that.
Sometimes I'm like okay, we'regonna pull Sally Jo Buckley from
random spot.
I'm like so I hope you'rekeeping some organized way, but
make a list.
I hate to use the word list.
That's why I'm like identify,Don't make a list, but make a
list, okay.
(07:12):
And then what I want you to dois think about before you just
start reaching out to thosepeople.
Think about it, Like, okay, think about what you're gonna
say to them, and what you say tothem could be different for
each person, and that is okayand probably-.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Yes, yes, probably
even better underlined,
Customize it to them takes moretime.
I know.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
And I would start
with something like checking in
to see how you are doing on yourChristmas list.
Is there anything else that youmight need for yourself or
someone else, cause I'd love tohelp you out, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
And I think this is
the one time of year like you
can be a little bit more upfrontabout a sale, or like you're
selling like it's a wear youdon't have to start with.
Like how are your holidaycookies?
How's it going?
Speaker 1 (08:09):
How was Thanksgiving
turkey?
However, notice I didn't say,and here are all my sales.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yes, yes.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
It was like a short
check in on your list.
You know for you and some andothers would love to help you
out.
I love to be at service.
I didn't say and if you do this, this and this and, by the way,
if you become a team member, you're gonna get an even bigger
deal.
Stop, stop with your bad stuff, because yourself is not a good
bad, it's a bad bad stomp.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
It's bad.
Bad list Santa's not coming.
Bad list no, not at all.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
So make that.
I mean, I guess, if you reallywant to, you could say I'd love
to help you out and have somespecial deals, but I wouldn't go
any further than that.
Mm-hmm, let them respond.
Yeah, let them respond.
And you know what?
Here's the really cool thingthat no one teaches you in
network marketing.
Most of them won't respond.
Just tell them you won'trespond.
(09:05):
They won't respond.
And there's nothing wrong withyou.
Nothing wrong with you In thatregard.
It is a numbers game, it's just.
But I say that to say when yousee one of the fun commercials
on TV is like that have you seenthat Jardien's commercial with
that woman who's dancing and shegoes through the different
scenes and it's cute as can beand it's like she's an actress
(09:27):
on a set.
So they show all the differentthings and like I couldn't tell
you what Jardien's is for, a1cand might be.
I don't know what it's for, butmy point is love the commercial
.
I'm not using the product.
They know that when they putthis commercial out, most people
are not actually going to sayyes, and that's okay, it's a
numbers game.
They know the people who needto hear it are gonna say yes.
(09:49):
So know that when you put itout there, yes, you're going one
by one like the ants marchingin, but know that you're gonna
cast a net and most people aregonna say no, but that's okay,
you just need a couple of peopleto say yes.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Right and if anything
they say no, or maybe they say
nothing like maybe they'll be acustomer in two months 100%,
100% for themselves.
Or maybe right now they'rebuying for others and they're
like no, I don't need to getanything for Exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
And I'll remind you,
like when before Scott had his
DVT and his pulmonary embolisms,I did not know that these like
that Zarelto commercials andelixir commercials existed.
I would watch them, I didn'teven know.
Now, when I hear them andthey're like they talk about
that, I'm like, oh, blood clots.
(10:38):
I see it now because it'ssomething in our life.
So understand that you mightjust be white noise until
someone needs it.
That's okay, that is totallyokay.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
That's how it works.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
The next thing is
this if you do have like an
opportunity for cash and carry, like if you have inventory, you
need to know that once the dateends for like end of shipping,
offer that to your nearby people, to your local.
Say, listen, I have some giftsin person.
(11:11):
You might even give them like alist, like you might put on a
list if you need this, here itis and like make a list.
I take a picture of the listthat doesn't feel so like heavy
in a message and go here's whatI have in here is how much it is
.
I know that that's anopportunity.
What if you even offered towrap it for them?
Ooh, I like it.
I like that Free wrapping.
Love it, because I hate to wrap.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
So please, oh yeah,
that just reminded me of
something I didn't do yesterdayWee, wee, wee, yeah, Okay, so
what should they do on socialmedia right now, this week?
Speaker 1 (11:43):
On the social.
It is okay to get out there andsay, like I have sales, you can
tell us what your sales are.
We want to know what the salesare.
So let us know, tell us whatthe sales are and then make it
really easy for someone to reachout, like say, listen, like
LinkedIn, zimbio or DM me forthe link or DM me if you'd like
some help.
It's great to go on live andsay, listen, I've got some deals
.
It's the last.
(12:03):
This is my deal, this is what'sgoing on.
Let me know this product isgreat for such and such.
Inform me about why the productis good and why it would be a
great gift.
Okay, don't just assume.
I know.
But yeah, this is, we arelooking for sales.
This is the time we're like, ooh, who wants to sell me
something?
Cause I want to buy it.
So enjoy that.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
You can be spammy
Tammy on social media right now
if you like Permission grantedCause, like even me, like guys,
I'm a late, I'm more of a lateshopper, I think.
I always try not to be, buthere I am.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
And I will look.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
I'm like I need ideas
and I go to Instagram and I'm
like where's the ad?
Where who's story?
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Yeah, because
literally you're looking at
influencers and stuff, lookingto see what they, what the items
are.
So but that also like, take apage out of an influencers book
and, with your product, show itin action.
Yeah, like, literally, show anaction, show yourself using it.
Talk like if it's like asupplement or something.
Show yourself using it and howit's great.
Maybe you like have a day and alife and you're like, oh, I
(13:04):
take it noon and night.
If it's clothing, show us theoutfits, show us the leggings,
show us whatever it is, but putit into practice, cause that's
what we want to see and that'swhat we look for.
Online.
You can do the same thing,mm-hmm.
If it's a book show your, showyou reading the book, like just
show it next, maybe with yourchild, maybe like show the
activity I think calling out, like you're showing the activity
(13:27):
, but then while you're showingit it's like who is this for?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Why would they?
Not even why would they want it?
But literally, like you justsaid, like who is this for?
Yes, you know, because rightnow is a time to turn away a
little bit from trying to sellit to them.
Like, how help them in theirbrain, like, oh my God, I didn't
even think I could give this tomy grandma.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, I would
literally put a note on like
gifts for something.
That would be like the tag orwhatever I'd put on the page
Like gifts for mom, gifts forthis, gifts under this, and then
have like a reel or whatevershowing it off.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Gifts for the person
you don't know what to buy for.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, yeah,
thoughtful gifts for the person
you can't remember, yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
God, why the heck not
Love it?
Yes?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
So that's some good
action.
Is there any more tips or no?
I think that just and go, go,go.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
But also fine time
for you If you're getting tired,
if you're like I need to go tothe kids recital, I need to go
to the party.
You know, what's interesting iswhat I found you're going to
the party for the party, butwhat's interesting is when, if
you're being present, you'vebeen present.
People will be like they willsee you at a party and go oh my
gosh, I needed to get such andsuch.
So don't seclude yourself inthat you need to sit in your
(14:40):
room for four days or three daysor two days.
Get out there, because thatmakes a difference as well too.
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yes, especially if
you're getting out there with
that energy of sales are comingin.
Yeah, I don't know how, butthey are 100% there you go.
Love that, you'll win.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Do you know that
there was a record that was made
a couple weeks ago?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
For the.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Olympics oh, I love
that you said that.
I love that you know me so wellnot the Olympics, but I really
appreciate that.
Thank you for saying that itwas the most watched.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Oh football game.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Uh-huh, yeah, I saw,
your story.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
You posted that.
I was like oh cool.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
I was one of those
numbers.
I was one of those numbers too.
We're talking about the biggestrivalry in college football and
, literally, if you say thatthinking thing down below, I was
like, wait, people are like, haha, iron ball.
I'm like, wait, what's the ironball?
I had to look up the dang ironball, because it's not the iron
ball.
Y'all.
Michigan versus Ohio State, alllowercase when I say Ohio State
(15:51):
is the biggest rivalry and ifyou think, because you're down
south, oh no, no, no, it's theiron ball.
Let's be real 19 million peopletuned into that game, 19
million people and collegefootball game.
That is not the nationalchampionship.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Amazing, and it was
such a good one to watch too.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Gosh, it was so.
I mean, it was stressful.
Don't get me To me.
I just love a game where wejust win and it's not a big, but
we won.
It's just like I literally justdidn't go.
They just didn't go.
Like I cannot watch close gamesover and over again, like I
could not do that every week.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
No, there's no way.
When we even the girl, we werewith a group of people and boys
and girls at halftime, the girlswere like, let's go to this
shop.
The shop's having like a littlesale, so I thought we would
like come back to watch the restof the game.
I didn't drive, so we didn't.
We were at stores and so I waslike nervously watching my phone
.
It was almost making me moreanxious than sitting and
watching it.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yeah, oh gosh.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I was like oh, I
thought you know we were.
We were together to watch thegame and we missed the end.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Are you kidding?
These are fake fans you wentwith.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
The ones I went with,
yes, the ones that stayed,
those are the truebies.
And I was like oh, I shouldhave.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
You're like I am with
the wrong people.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
We did have fun
shopping, though but it was
funny to like stand in lineanywhere.
Everyone on their phone had itLike, even if we weren't
watching the game like all of asudden I heard an update from
someone over there.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Someone over there
and and y'all, she doesn't live
in Michigan anymore, she livesin Tennessee.
Yes, yes, such a good game, such a good game Such.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
I mean I can't say
from watching it, but I'm very
happy with the outcome.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Oh, I mean I was sick
in bed and I actually got
sicker because I was using somuch energy towards the game.
And I was like oh, the resident.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
And it was early, it
was a 9.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
AM game.
We don't watch games at 9 AM inCalifornia PSN.
By the way, the big 10championship game is Maniana and
it is.
Michigan against Iowa, which ismy sister's alma mater.
I'd explained to her why it'simportant for them to lose, for
the good of the 10.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
And she understood
right, For the good of the world
.
She didn't enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
But she didn't
disagree because if she doesn't,
you know that they're gonnafind some way to put frickin'
Alabama, who's eight, inside ofthe playoffs.
They're already saying, youalready hear in commentators go,
alabama should be, no, theyshouldn't.
They lost to Texas like earlyon.
Give me a no anyway.
So we just need to do our job.
It is Michigan againsteverybody.
(18:29):
And if y'all couldn't tell thisis a Michigan podcast, now you
know, now you know, We've letyou know.
There you go.
I sent you on the gram just asecond ago, Okay, A post.
I saw.
That was amazing.
The week before the game, apparently, Ohio State's band
(18:51):
dedicated their whole halftimeshow to like this whole beat
Michigan extravaganza and I haveto say it is quite good.
I had to watch it over and overagain because the way they did
that yeah, if you slide, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I feel like this
should go against sportsmanship.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
See that okay.
No, it's so.
No, because they lost, it'sfine.
I mean, their band is betterthan their football team, that
is okay.
But how impressive is it thatthey were able to this is
impressive.
Y'all like, literally they madethese scissors and the scissors
move and they have a Michiganflag and then they cut it and it
splits in two, and that's justone of the things they have.
Like they throw the Michiganflag into a trash can, but it's
(19:33):
like a formation and like it isso impressive.
Is that not impressive?
It's very impressive.
They practice that they have adonkey kicking Michigan.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
They have two ships
going at each other and then,
like Ohio State like takes downthe Michigan ship.
It's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
It's pretty good.
Like I said, their band betterthan their team.
That's fine with me.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Impressive,
impressive.
Yeah, you guys can have thatthere you go, I'm fine with it.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
You can have that.
Meanwhile we'll just keep ongoing to the championship games,
Don't mind us oh feels so good.
Yes, so good.
Okay y'all, we will see yousoon.
We'll see you next week.
Let us know how it goes.
We want to hear.
