Speaker 1 (00:34):
Welcome back hockey
fans to Royally Quacked.
This is a special edition.
It's not live.
I think we told you last weekwe weren't going to be live.
We're going to give you somenews about the Ducks and the
Kings and the league, and thenyou need to pay attention
afterwards because we were atthe Patriot hockey team that
(00:57):
we've talked with Adam about atCross Creek Golf Course and
interviewed a lot of the playersand supporters of Patriot
Hockey.
Some of it might be a littlemore than G-rated because there
was some really funny stuffgoing on, but stand firm, I
think you might get a laugh outof it.
(01:18):
You've got to realize thatyou've got these tough hockey
player military guys.
Sometimes the language changesjust a little bit and it wasn't
horrible.
It's just a little bit morethan normal at our podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
So I would say it's
more PG-13.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, I mean you know
the heckle hole, I mean I'll
give something away.
I mean I'll give something away.
There might have been a littlebit of distasteful stuff said by
the comedian that was trying todisrupt everybody's drives that
went through that day.
That might be a little colorful.
But anyways, if you're an adultand you just look at it as
(02:02):
entertainment's it was, it waspretty painful yeah all right,
you want to start off with ducknews, cody yeah, um.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
So the first one I
have is from derrick lee.
He said beckett, seneca, onthis weekend's rookie camp.
He quoted this is what senecasaid.
I think I think it's greatlearning experience for all of
us.
You've kind of got a head starton the systems that Coach Q is
going to bring in.
I think it's a huge advantagefor all of us here.
(02:32):
That's the end of quote.
So that's good news.
You know Beckett's already kindof has like that jump on
everything already.
So I like that.
And then the next thing is westill have no contract for mace
mctavish.
Even recording this, you know, sunday afternoon after the rams
just lost, uh, in that dramaticfashion, um, yeah, um.
(02:59):
But so it just tells you likeat, so at this point in time
mctavish still does not have acontract.
Um, but per david pagnotta hesaid that the ducks have offered
, or, uh, mason mctavish is opento a seven, eight year contract
with the ducks.
I guess the ducks offered himfive million at 5.5 apparently.
(03:21):
So I guess they're still.
I think Mason wants seven, eight million, or sorry, seven,
eight years, and maybe close tolike eight, nine million or
seven to nine million range.
So they're still off.
So that's why there's stillcontract.
But I mean Pat Verbeek did sayearlier this week with Zach
(03:43):
Kavanaugh that like they wereclose on a deal.
So I trust Zach Kavanaugh morethan David Pagnotta, especially
when it comes to duck stuff.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
He was at the rookie
face-off last week.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yes, and I introduced
myself to Zach too, so it was
nice meeting him.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Seemed like a really
nice guy.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, so, like I said
, I trust Zach when it comes to
more Ducks insider stuff.
Just because he's there, hetalks to the players, he talks
to the coaches, I trust him alot more than I trust Peg Nota.
So, but that's really it forDucks News, other than the
(04:27):
training camp rosters.
But we'll go over that in a bit.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
So my thought on that
whole Nick Tavish thing is
obviously we got Byfield at adiscount.
I mean, I don't see him anybetter than putting Byfield
right now.
Maybe he's even, maybe justbehind him, and he's only
getting $6.25 million.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, but, like I
said, that was what David
Pagnotta said, so I don't knowif that's how much there is
truth on there.
So, like I said, we don't fullyknow.
I just pray you know that weget a contract soon for McTavish
, that way he's not missing thatmuch time.
He's already going to bemissing tonight's game for
(05:15):
Sunday against the Kings inOntario.
Then he's for sure missingtomorrow's game too against, uh,
utah.
I believe.
I believe you're right.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
So I guess we'll go
on to Kings news Utah, I believe
.
I believe you're right, so Iguess we'll go on to Kings news
and all you, really big Kingsfans, you live and die by what
happens with the silver andblack and white Heard.
Anze Kopitar has announced thiswill be his last season.
(05:42):
This will be his last season, and I think he did it because it
would have been nothing but adistraction the rest of the year
.
And I think how smart is that?
I mean, that's just, it'sclassy on his part that he wants
to just go out and play hockeyand not have to answer that
(06:03):
question every week or so oreven every day.
So but anze anze copetars gonnaretire at the end of the year
and you know as probably thegreatest king ever.
I know we had robotai androbotai's great players, so was
dion gretzky, but nobody spent20 years, won two cups.
(06:25):
So to me, greatest king ever.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
I think Eddie Garcia
said it best on his podcast
where I believe it was Eddiewhere he said Anze Kopitar is
the greatest king of all time, but he's not the greatest king
to ever wear the jersey.
Okay, I can go with that and Iagree with Eddie the greatest
king of all time, but he's notthe greatest king to ever wear
the jersey.
Okay, I can go with that and Iand I agree, I agree with eddie
I think copetar is the greatestking of all time most games
(06:52):
played.
Probably should get the mostpoints ever to.
Um, you know, like I said, brought two stanley cups.
You know, no other king hasdone that.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
And he's done it on
both sides of the ice and he's
won Selkies, he's won the BingTrophy.
So you can tell he's not just.
You know one of those guysthat's always in the penalty box
.
He's always on the ice or onthe bench.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
You know he's never
hurting the team in the penalty
box either, and not to mentionthat he played two-way hockey
for 20 years.
Not everybody can say that.
Other news too just toreiterate, because I think we
did touch on this last weekCorey Perry hurt his knee
skating.
He'll be out six to eight weeks, so we won't get the reunion
(07:51):
with the Ducks that would haveprobably maybe even happened
today, but six to eight weeksstill got a lot of season left
to play after that.
So other news also during therookie faceoff which we're going
to talk about, defenseman AngusBooth needed assistance leaving
(08:12):
ice after a collision duringscrimmage, because he actually
was scrimmaging with the bigboys and he couldn't put any
weight on it.
You know he's one of thefastest rising stars for the
Kings right now, especially onthe defensive side of the puck,
and so we'll lay out someprayers for him.
(08:34):
He just goes out and plays thegame and you know, like I said,
a promising young defenseman forthe Kings.
Hopefully he's not seriouslyinjured and we haven't gotten
any updates on that, at least asfar as I know yet.
Promising young defenseman forthe Kings.
Hopefully he's not seriouslyinjured and we haven't gotten
any updates on that, at least asfar as I know yet, and some
(08:55):
other really good news is Kingsgoaltending coach Mike Buckley
has been named Team USA'sgoaltending coach for the 2026
Olympics, and I do believe hecoached the USA team that won
the World Championship.
Wasn't he the goaltending coachthere too?
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Sorry, say that one
more time.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
When USA broke the
92-year drought of winning the.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
I believe, yeah, I
believe he was.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Am I wrong?
Was he at four face-offs?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I don't remember so.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
And other than that,
that's the Was he at four
face-offs I don't remember Otherthan that that's the Kings news
for the week everyone.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
We'll go to league
news First.
Off is the Washington Capitalshave brought back the Screaming
Eagle jersey as their thirdjersey and I can tell you it
looks sweet.
I love the way it looks.
The Eagles should be their mainlogo.
I don't like their logo rightnow.
(09:52):
Well, they are capitals, yeah, but what screams America Eagles,
exactly.
The nation bird by the way, yeah, so that's my opinion and
other news.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Uh, new york rangers
have named jt miller as the 29th
captain in franchise historyand I'm not shocked on this, but
I'm.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I knew it was gonna
be either him or Trochek.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, I still think
they stole him from Vancouver.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Yeah, but with all
the drama on Vancouver.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yeah, hopefully it
stays so both of our teams can
be ahead of them in thestandings this next season.
But my understanding I waslistening to 32 Thoughts that
Leas Peterson or Pettersson hascome looking differently like
(10:52):
really reshaped his body and soforth for this next time.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
I think they said it
was like 12, 13 pounds of muscle
he brought, he got.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, so maybe he's
serious because he's the driving
force if they're going to beany better or not in my book.
I mean because he did not playwell last year.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
He hasn't played well
the last two seasons really.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah, so we'll see
what happens with that,
especially after getting thathuge contract extension.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Yeah.
Next big news is goalie ConnorIngram will not be attending
training camp with Utah and isexpected to be placed on waivers
when the waiver wire opens.
Per GM Bill Armstrong, it's amutual decision to find the
player a new home.
Ingram recently was in theplayer assistance program after
(11:39):
losing his mother to breastcancer.
He enters the final year of a$1.95 million contract for this
season.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
And he was until that
all happened.
He was getting better andbetter.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
He was the number one
in Utah.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
That's sad.
Another person we can pray for.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Like.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
I said we're hockey
fans first.
We don't want to see anythinglike that happen like that.
On other news, nick Paul is outuntil early November with an
upper body injury that requiredsurgery.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Julian Brisbaugh
announced Yep and then the Blues
have signed forward NathanWalker to a two-year $887,000, a
little over that contractextension and the deal will
begin in 2026-2027.
I'm horrible with sayingnumbers Leave me alone.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Like me and hockey
names.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Also, the Flames have
signed Michael Blackland to a
two-year 3.25 AAV contractextension.
Deal begins in 26-27 season.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
And one of the RFAs
is officially signed in the NHL,
blackhawks have signed RFAdefenseman Wyatt Kaiser to a
two-year 1.7 million contractextension.
Aap contract extension.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
And also well, this
is the last piece of league news
for today.
The Detroit Red Wings and theNew York Rangers have both come
out with their centennialjerseys.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I like the Red Wings
one more than the Rangers one.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Just those are seeing
them Been too busy with other
things in life.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah, but, like I
said, so that's it for the
league news this year.
Let's talk about the, the, therookie face off from last year.
So last week, last week, jesusit's been.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
It's been a long been
a long weekend.
No, no, I'm your dad, but thankyou for the compliment.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Let's see if I could
pull up the screenshots that I
took, just the one I need.
Oh, it disappeared.
Where'd it go?
Why won't let me move it?
Speaker 1 (13:58):
so the ducks, the
ducks and san jose played on
friday yep, exactly so the Ducksplayed the Sharks on Friday.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
I don't have the full
breakdown, but I could, just I
could.
I'm going to just go overquickly, like who scored, who
got the points and the goaliesand who played.
So for the San Jose Sharks, they won 6-3 against the Anaheim
Ducks.
Scoring the goals were scoredby Kasper Matias Havlid, luca
(14:37):
Cagnoni, two by Cam Lund andthen one by Colin Graff.
And then you had assists fromone by Dickinson, one by Musty,
two by Holtanen, two by Beistet, one from Lucas Cagnoni, another
one from Colin Graff and thenone from Michael Misa.
(15:00):
Those were your goal scorersfor the San Jose Sharks.
And then for the Ducks you hadgoals from Tim Washi, igor
Sidorov and then Alexis Matthew,an assist from Seneca Majadovic
, two from Solberg, one fromOwen Lindmark and then one from
(15:23):
Emil Gitte.
For the goalies, I believeJoshua Ravensbergen, what a name
that is.
He had all.
He played the full 60 minutesfor San Jose.
He gave up three goals.
He had 16 saves on 19 shots.
(15:43):
Um, night, 16 saves on 19 shots.
And then for the ducks, theyhad um, I don't know, this is
not right.
I believe they switched goalies.
But um, viaslav batates, um, hegave up five goals he's.
They said he played all thefull game but I'm pretty sure
McIver played the last, thethird period Anyways, but
(16:08):
they're saying he had 37 shotsagainst and 32 saves.
So I would say the Sharksdefinitely outplayed the Ducks.
The Ducks were just constantlygetting in penalty trouble the
whole game.
It wasn't pretty.
But I can tell you the one goodthing about this game was
Connor Smith uppercutted thatone Sharks player bad, and I
(16:33):
could say the announcer said itbest Uppercut, uppercut,
uppercut, uppercut.
I mean I'm pretty sure allthose Ducks fans and a lot of
NHL fans online all saw thatfight.
But I would say that was theone good thing about that game.
Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
That it on that one.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
That is it for that
one.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
So on Saturday the
Kings and Sharks got together
and this looked like it wasgoing to be a runaway from the
start.
In the first period KennyConner scored from Zemer to make
it 1-0.
Then Berg scored from Hughesand Chauvin to make it 2-0.
Kurosanoff scored from Lawrenceto make it 3-0.
(17:19):
Then Isoga from Jack Hughes notone of the Hughes brothers,
another Jack Hughes made it 4-0.
And it stayed like that evenhalfway into the second period.
And then the Kings pulled outIsaiah Saville, who had 11 saves
(17:43):
on 11 shots.
And this is about the time thewhole tide turned.
San Jose scored.
Haltunen scored on the powerplay to make it 4-1.
Beistet scored to make it 4-2.
Dickinson, which is an upcomingdefenseman I do believe he was
(18:03):
one of the number one defensemenon the London Knights last year
and made it 4-3.
What I didn't say is, afterSeville went out, scholl came in
and played the rest of the game.
Scholl gave up eight goals.
I did not get all the shots.
There wasn't a whole lot ofstats.
I looked and looked to try tofind them.
I did get this commentary, which I've written down for you.
(18:26):
So after two periods, 4-3 Kings.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
It was 4-0 after one.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Yeah, but after two
periods it was 4-3.
So, going into the third, Graffscored not once but twice in a
short period of time to give SanJose a 5-4 lead.
Esty scores for San Jose tomake it 4-6, or 6-4 in favor of
the Sharks.
Autu, Jamison scored to make it5-6.
(18:58):
Then Halvelt scored 7-5, andWelch scored to make it 8-5.
And that's how it ended 8-5.
So the Sharks, by going 2-0,won the Golden State faceoff.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
You know, I mean,
that doesn't bug me.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
It doesn't bug me
either, because it's all about
giving them playing time.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah, so, and then I
got the Ducks versus Kings game
right here.
So the Kings won this one 4-1,even though it should have
really only been 2-2,technically, just saying so.
In scoring, we had no scoringin the first period.
In the second period you hadCohenhen zemer with the second
(19:45):
goal of the tournament.
He had assists from green treeand solon, auto solon.
And the next up you had in atthe 8 8, 41 mark.
You had, uh, kenny connors withhis first goal, green tree with
another assist and atu jansenalso had an assist, and that was
on the power play.
And then the goal of thetournament right here, the goal
(20:06):
of the tournament.
Dad, kenny Connors scores hissecond goal of the game, with no
uh shorthanded, by the way, andno one had the assist.
But everyone's wondering why isthat the goal of the tournament
?
Um, thomas Sukunik, the Ducksgoalie, grabbed the puck before
one of the Kings forwards canget to him and he tried to put
(20:30):
it behind the net for hisdefenseman and instead put it
straight into the net.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
It actually, we were
there.
It looked like that's what hewas trying to score on his own
goal, Didn't it look like that?
He turned.
He waited a second before heeven shot and then he shoots it
right into his net.
It wasn't like, as he wasturning, he shot and didn't
realize he was aiming at his ownnet.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Yeah, you could tell
he didn't mean, you could tell
what his intention was.
It was just unfortunate, like Isaid, it was his first game in
what?
14 months?
12, 14 months, you know.
So, like I said, we, when Isaid I wanted to see a goalie
goal live, that's not what Imeant, especially on my own team
(21:18):
, um, but, like I said, I wasn'teven mad, I found it kind of
funny.
Like I said, I, like I saidsook, I, I'm not mad or anything
.
So if you ever listened to this, like I said, you've had, you
had that horrific injury lastyear, you missed the whole
season.
I said I'm giving you a pass onthis, so, and then.
So it's three nothing Kingsafter the second and we go into
(21:41):
the third, and then Tim Washiscores his second of the
tournament, assist fromMajedovic and Seneca to make it
3-1, and then Kenny Connors, with the hat trick, scores on
the empty net with no assist.
And again we had Conor Smithfight another player and let's
(22:02):
just say Conor Smith won thisfight again.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
The Kings guy.
It was 63.
I can't remember his name.
He was half the size.
I mean literally half the sizeof the other.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Nate Corbel.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
That's what it says.
Corbel, yeah, and you know whathe was game.
I give him all the kudos goingafter Goliath.
He didn't even have a sling anda rock, yep.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
So here's the goalies
too.
So Michael McIver he played thethird period.
He had seven shots on goal, seven saves.
Thomas Sukunik 16 shots against13 saves and I would say the
player of the game by far, carter George, no doubt about it
(22:57):
36 shots against 35 saves, andI know Kyle Carr got a very good
video of that uh windmill savehe had oh, that was pretty, that
was so pretty, and I mean weare, we're all going, whoa we're
?
Speaker 1 (23:14):
yeah, we were at the
what was it five points arena
yeah, five point arena, thegreat park guys if you, I know
somebody took a picture of usand posted it.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Someone got a picture
of us.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Remember when we were
outside, they were inside.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Well, that's because
I posted a story saying, hey,
we're out here waiting, and thensomeone saw us outside.
Yeah, yes, I was at the FivePoint Arena.
Like I said, great little arena, you know.
I just wish they didn't.
I don't know why they have theseats, or we sat and the press
box is like blocking most of theview on the other side.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Well, that was only
only downside I I think you're
talking about most of the time.
It's kids and adult games, andthey're they don't have that
many fans, so they can alwayssit down lower.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
True, but it was like
I said, the Ducks and Kings
sold out their game.
It was nice meeting Kyle Carrfrom Locked on Ducks, it was
nice finally meeting him andeverything.
I would say the best, not thebest, but I wasn't expecting to
meet Daryl Evans, especiallyright when we walked in.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
What a classy guy.
Yeah, I mean, not all have you,if you guys listen to the radio
with and I know he's been on TVtoo, um, kind of as a backup
analyst to Jim Fox on the TV ora box isn't there.
He does it.
Knowledgeable guy.
He was so friendly and nice, Imean, and he is the snazziest
(24:51):
dresser I've ever seen.
I'm trying to was it?
Vic the Brick Jacobs used to goto the Laker games and you know
the forum blue and gold outfits.
I mean I think he's a littlemore classy than Victor Brick
(25:14):
Jacobs was, but what a nice man.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah, no, he was
great.
Like he talked with us, youknow, he talked with Mom and
Christina, you know, tookpictures.
And, like I said, wonderfulgreat guy.
You know he talked with mom andchristina, um, you know, took
pictures.
And, like I said, wonder greatguy, you know, much respect for
him, though I was not expectinghim to be that short.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Of course, then it is
me, I'm I tower over most
people well, I was tolerant too,but the guy played I mean he,
he, I think he he was had thewinning shot in Miracle of
Manchester.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
He did have the
game-winning goal I mean.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
so you know, a lot of
smaller players.
They compete pretty hard onhockey.
They don't always have to bethe big boys to play, and he
proved that he was a greatplayer, great announcer and just
(26:10):
a wonderful, nice man.
If you ever get the chance tomeet him.
He was very welcoming to us.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yes, no, he was.
And, like I said, we also sawKyle Carr there.
He sat with us for the firstand third periods.
Saw kyle carr there, he satwith us, um, for the first and
third periods.
Uh, he went on the other side.
He went to the other side toget a better view where the
ducks were playing offense whichI don't believe him, um, and
stuff like that.
And then so we walked around.
You know, you and I walkedaround after the first
(26:37):
intermission, right, um, wewalked right by pat verbeek and
I could see why they call himthe little ball of hate, because
he's not that very tall either, and everything we saw Jim
Hiller like telling a story tothe scouts, I want to say, or
his staff, but I don't know hewas so animated, he was very.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
It was.
It was a very.
It had to be very.
I wish I could have heard thestory.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Yeah, he was.
Just by.
Just by watching his actions itseemed like it was a pretty
good story.
And then I also talked to JojoMaestro from the Anaheim Ducks,
the DJ Great guy he says he seesour reels all the time.
So, like I said, great to meethim.
(27:20):
Met Zach Cavanaugh from theSporting Tribune for the Anaheim
Ducks and then I know I got thepicture with Dave Taylor.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
yeah, that
disappointed me yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
So when me and my dad
walked around after the first
intermission and everything, wewere gonna get a picture with
Dave Taylor.
But then he, like, right whenthe play stopped, when we turned
and looked around, he was likealready like halfway gone, like
he was gone.
And then when me, and thenafter this, during the second
intermission, me, my wife, walked around and I saw him and
I was like hey, I I stopped.
(27:56):
I was like hey, can I get apicture please?
Like you know you're one of mydad's favorites.
You know my dad's a longtimekings fan.
Do you mind if I get a picture?
And he, you know he did, and hewas great too, so it was nice
to meet him.
One third of the triple crownline yeah, that's for sure so,
like I said it was, it was greatmeeting him.
there was something that I guessI walked right by jay woodcroft
(28:19):
too, uh, when I went to thebathroom one of the times.
So, like I said, it was cool, like the whole everything there.
I really enjoyed the rookieface-off more than I thought I
would.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
It was fun.
We had two great weekends in arow.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yes, we did.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
I mean, even as we
said, last week, we were going
to support Patriot Hockey and wewere at the golf course with
them and interviewed quite a fewpeople.
You know most of them were allfriends.
If they said they didn't wantto do an interview, we were fine
with that, but most of them did.
(28:59):
Some of them were just amazing.
Yes so, and we had fun.
And Cody, I told him I go, Iknow a few times things were
said that probably we wouldn'thave said on the podcast, but I
go, we need to let every one ofthose people it might be the
(29:20):
only time they ever get to hearthemselves over the airwaves.
So I told them to keepeverything.
Don't edit unless it justdoesn't work.
So because we all told them, you know, they all got something
in their bags, uh to uh, uh qrcode to be able to just go right
(29:40):
in and get into royally quack.
And we met, um, people thatactually loved the way we did
that and want us to do it otherplaces.
And what was the one that itwas?
Uh, it was for stay classy.
Stay classy was.
Now, is that that, is that forkids?
Speaker 2 (29:59):
no, that's um like
something that um adam does too.
He plays, plays in it.
It's like an adult thing andthey have a bunch of people,
like a bunch of teams play.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
It's a three on three
tournament I thought that the
three on three they were alltalking about.
Oh, that's awesome.
Yeah, we're going to go.
We're going to try to be livewhen that happens.
Do you remember the date onthat?
Speaker 2 (30:23):
The one that just
happened happened like a month
or two ago, so it's we still gotquite a bit of time for that,
okay yeah, we're looking forwardto doing that, so so, um,
before we, you know, throw itover to the interviews.
Let's do you have the trainingcamp roster with you?
Speaker 1 (30:41):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Okay'm going to try
and go through mine.
You want to try and see if youcan find yours real quick.
Speaker 1 (30:49):

Speaker 1 (32:25):

eight roster moves for trainingcamp.
All these players were assignedback to their junior team.

He'd been hurt and he had backsurgery last year, so he is
ready to play.
So we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Yeah, well and then.
So tonight we got the Ducksversus Kings First preseason
game too, you excited?
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
I'm super excited.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
We're going to have a
mix of a lot of those players.
A lot of them might be theyounger guys, because I haven't
seen a lot of those players.
A lot of them might be theyounger guys Cause, like you
know, I haven't seen any kind ofcuts yet, uh, on the roster.
But, um, a lot of the youngguys are going to play play in
the first game and it'll startdwindling down just like that
(35:41):
and until we get to probably thelast one or two games where you
might have some of the regularsplaying a lot more, I mean,
there could be an intermix ofthem in every game some of the
pros and some of the um, youknow, rain players or even, like
carter george, who's probablygonna go back to his junior team
(36:03):
, I believe.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
So you have anything
else to add for any of the
training camp or news.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Don't?
I want to just tell you I can'twait to listen to this episode,
because we were there for what?
Almost eight hours.
We got there at six and we Ithink I left out just before two
yeah, so that's, that's eightright around two yeah yeah, and
(36:35):
eight hours and I, I, I, I wentwith like five hours sleep
because I work swing shift andthen I'm an hour and so away
from home.
So, um, it was good to get homeand take a nap but I had passed
out.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
I passed out when I
got home.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
It was such a blast.
I had so much fun.
Uh, and thank you, patriothockey for allowing us to come
and do that.
I mean, I hope our fans like itas much as we did.
It was so much fun and they'revery giving and accepting people
(37:16):
there.
I mean, it was just I feltwelcome almost the whole time.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
So yeah, and real
quick.
This was our first time doinganything like this, so the
camera work or the mic workcould have been a little off.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
We got better, I
think, as the day went.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
We got better.
Like I said, it was a lot oftrial and error for both of us.
Like I said, both of us, youknow I feel like we could have.
Like I said, it was our firsttime doing this, but now we know
for next time.
So if you watch this on YouTube, you know if you see different
landscapes or something cut off,it's just, it's just the camera
(38:00):
work.
It's you know, stuff like thatand the audio people you're
probably not even going tohopefully recognize.
You know the video but youwon't recognize the video.
But you'll you know if younotice some of the audio is just
.
Like I said, we were outdoors,so it was our first time doing
this.
I still had so much fun andeverything.
Like I said, I want to saythank you to Andrea and Adrian
(38:24):
and stuff like that.
They were both very helpful, telling us where to go, where to
be and stuff like that.
And also thank you to thegentleman from the golf course
from letting me and my dad rentthe, the golf cart to get around
and everything, cause I I can'timagine if we had to walk
everywhere.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
He didn't allow us to
rent it.
He let us use it.
Yeah, he let us use it yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
And stuff like that.
I mean, we were willing to.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
we were willing to
pay for the golf cart.
Yes, oh God by that time wewere, we were pretty tired and
it got hot.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
And then also, last
but not least, you're going to
hear him and stuff like that.
But we also have an interview.
But shout out to Mike Cano thecomedian.
You know he was so funny, hewas so funny, he was funny.
Yeah, so.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
And he went after
those poor guys and some of them
you got to see and I don't know, did we?
We didn't really get, did weget the shots?
Speaker 2 (39:22):
I got most of them
and I stopped recording after a
while.
I and I of course I got himheckling Adam, I had to get that
one.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
And I can say I I
loved it because he had a sign
that says you know, he's like, hey, you can shut me up for $10.
And he's like, for $10 perplayer, then for $20 per player,
you can shut me up and you getautomatic two on a par four.
I would say about mostlyeveryone paid the 20 and still
(39:53):
told him do not shut up.
Speaker 10 (39:56):
Yeah, heckle me,
heckle me, heckle me, heckle me,
heckle me please they paid andthey, they still want to be
heckled.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
And oh it was, I
guess it was so great.
And then the last thing wasalso the golf cannon too.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
That was so much fun
to watch sorry about uh
technical difficulties, theinternet went down for a second
time.
So here we go at trying tofinish off the podcast.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Take two go, cody so
this is all we need to do is,
you know, like I said, thank youto everyone at patriot hockey,
thank you to everyone that wetalked to at the rookie face off
and everything.
You know, like I said, two funweekends back to back.
Um, last but not least, likewe're gonna send it over to all
the interviews that we hadyesterday and then some of the
(40:44):
heckle hole stuff and stuff likethat.
Like I said, we apologize foryou know what's being said, but,
like I said, I thought it wasjust too perfect to leave
everything in.
So, um, like I said, guys justbeing guys.
You know, veterans, hockeyplayers, golfers.
You know, like I said, we hadso much fun.
So, um, but before we send itover to the golf tournament
(41:07):
recap and everything with allthe interviews, um, just please
don't forget to like andsubscribe on YouTube.
We would really appreciate it.
Um, I want to try to get us toget to 75 subscribers before the
start of the season.
I think right now we're at 59,so if you can help us get to 75,
we would really appreciate it.
That way, you also never miss alive stream again.
(41:28):
I know this week wasn't a livestream, but we will be back next
week on our normal schedule.
Go follow us on Twitch too.
That way, you can also watch uslive there as well.
And then go follow us on allsocial media Instagram, facebook
Threads, twitter, wherever youhave social media Just go to
Royally Quacked and follow usthere.
(41:49):
And then also, last but notleast, if you like what you're
hearing or seeing, you know, leave a comment on YouTube or
leave a review or rating onSpotify and Apple.
It really helps us so much, youknow.
It really means the world to usif you do that.
So, um, that's, that's all Ihave to say, unless you have
(42:10):
anything else, dad.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
I say take it away to
the golf tournament footage.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
All right, and just
remember, let's go Ducks.
Speaker 5 (42:19):
Go, kings go.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
See you next week.
See you next week.
Speaker 11 (42:23):
We're helping the
organization out we're with the
separate organization OperationsSecurity.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Oh, okay, cool.
Do you already have it on video?
I already got it going.
Oh, okay, all right.
So can you tell us your name?
Yeah, I'm Doc Ziggy Doc.
Can you tell us your name?
Yeah, I'm Doc Ziggy, doc, ziggy.
Speaker 11 (42:34):
What got you into
hockey?
Well, my nonprofit actually gotme into hockey because I met
Patriots Hockey and I wasactually paralyzed a few years
ago.
So just learning to redo thingsand have the opportunity to get
(42:55):
into one of the bobsleds andget a little bit more whole
again, become that warrior thatwarrior I was, yeah, and move
around and get that good, goodloving feelings in me, yeah, so,
um.
So who's your favorite hockeyteam?
Uh, los angeles kings.
Yes, there we go.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
Go, kings go all
right, favorite all-time player
robert, I don't do it now.
What's your favorite hockeymoment?
Speaker 11 (43:16):
Oh, when the Kings
won the Cup.
I guess In 12?
Yeah, I would say so I get that.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
So how did you?
Speaker 11 (43:28):
hear about the
Patriots Through my nonprofit.
We were working at the OntarioReign, we were holding an event
and we just kind of met thereand so it just like kind of
became a kinship and We've beenworking together and doing
little things off and on.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
So and what we also
made.
You want to get involved withthe organization and the
tournament.
Speaker 11 (43:46):
Their same mission,
their love for helping other
veterans and getting themoutside their comfort zone to do
other things.
So we can, you know, have funoutside and not be in our rooms
all the time, and we can, youknow, communicate and
camaraderie and just get, getback together as we used to be
so Perfect.
Speaker 10 (44:02):
All right Wonderful.
Speaker 11 (44:03):
Thank you very much.
I really appreciate it,appreciate you have a good one.
Speaker 10 (44:09):
Peace Uh, Max Max.
Yeah, and Just a supporter ofmilitary.
Okay, I was denied by theMarines when I was 18 years old
because I broke my back when Iwas 17.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
So interested in
hockey, love hockey.
Speaker 10 (44:21):
Big hockey fan.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Who's your favorite
team?
The?
Speaker 10 (44:23):
Ducks.
Of course I knew that.
I know I can give you a hardtime about the Kings, but I'm a
hockey fan first, I'm a hockeyfan first, okay.
So I love Mason McTavish, I loveLeo Carlson, I love all the
young guys that are coming up.
They're putting in a lot ofeffort.
(44:44):
I really liked Fabry's effortlast year.
I wish we still had retainedhim and he was still playing and
healthy.
When do you think they're goingto sign McTavish?
Honestly, pat for beak isextremely frustrating because
he's sitting there complainingabout this holdout and he was
the first player to ever holdout with the New Jersey devils
in 1991.
So, like, how are you?
Granted it was one day.
But like, how are you going tobe such a hypocrite like that?
(45:06):
And it's so sad because he'swondering why no one wants to
come to the ducks and it's likeyou're not giving them contracts
, you're not giving themstability and you're not giving
them a future.
And he's wondering why theydon't want to sign.
Ridiculous, absolutelyridiculous.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Well, you know, even
though I'm a Kings fan, I
totally agree with everythingyou just said.
It's just so like he's, he's,he's a talented kid that they
need to get.
Yeah, he is.
Speaker 10 (45:31):
And he wants to play
there Right, like, wants to
play there right, like that'sthe coolest thing is.
You see this guy go out thereand you see the frustration.
Yeah right, you don't just seethe effort, you see the
frustration and to me that sayspassion, that says I care, I
want to be here, and that thefact that pat verbiet can't see
that and doesn't want to pay himfor that is upsetting to me I
went to it's I went to maybe 30games last season and I was able
(45:51):
to see it it's.
It's the ducks way unfortunately, yeah, unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Do you have a
favorite hockey?
Speaker 10 (45:56):
moment favorite
hockey moment.
Yeah, I was at the stanley cupgame five, uh, when the ducks
were playing, and that was oneof the coolest sporting
experiences I've ever had.
I think it was game five, Idon't know 20 years ago so how
did you hear about Patriothockey?
I started playing the state itwasn't, Adam was it.
(46:18):
No, it was the Stay ClassyHockey Tournament in San Diego
Every August, first week inAugust, three-on-three
tournament that supportsveterans and adoptive dog
shelters.
The paw pad what was it?
Animal pad yeah, animal pad.
Yeah, we do a different oneevery year, but really cool
tournament and I got introducedto the Patriots members there.
(46:40):
I got introduced to Adam andAndrea and Adrian all those guys
and we just connected.
They're very special people.
They have really big hearts, they really care about being
good and doing the right thingand I think that that's just
very lacking in today's world.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
It's cool to meet
people with integrity and with
heart, and this is going to bethe biggest question.
You are going to listen toRoyally Quack this next week,
right yeah?
Speaker 10 (47:05):
I think so.
Yeah, I will.
I'm going to go ahead andsubscribe, you have a sticker in
your bag.
The QR code.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
You're going to be.
Speaker 10 (47:13):
You're going to hear
yourself.
No, I won't listen to myself.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
I hate my voice.
We could probably even havevideo because we're videoing
this too, so you can even lookat yourself.
Oh, yeah, that would be great.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
I appreciate it that
was awesome.
Thank you so much, of course, all right.
So what's your name?
Jacob, jacob, all right, whatgot you into hockey?
So?
Speaker 7 (47:29):
back in Back in the
day when basketball would be on
right after hockey.
I'd always have it, becausebasketball, when I was young,
used to be my favorite sport Nowit's baseball but hockey would
always be on before it and I'dalways watch it beforehand, and
that's how I kind of got into itwhen I was younger.
Who's your favorite hockey team?
Los Angeles Kings?
Yes, all right.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Favorite player of
all time for NHL.
Speaker 7 (47:53):
Andrzej Kopitar,
announcing his retirement
yesterday.
One more season.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
What's your favorite
hockey moment?
Speaker 7 (48:01):
I feel like I have to
say Alec Martinez in 2014 to
win the Cup.
However, I was at Game 1 thispast season against the Oilers
and watching Philip Deneau scorewith about 30 seconds left in
person was pretty good, eventhough they ended up losing the
series.
So how'd you hear about thePatriots?
Speaker 2 (48:17):
hockey.
Speaker 7 (48:18):
I heard about it
through the nonprofit
organization that I volunteerwork for Operation Sick Care.
Yeah, and I love what they'redoing.
They're similar to us in howthey're helping veterans.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
And what made you
want to get involved with the
Patriots organization and thetournament.
Speaker 7 (48:39):
You know I was, you
know, asked if I could work here
you know, work at this eventand I said okay, you know, I
wanted to work here, work.
As soon as I heard about thisevent, I just thought it'd be a,
you know, a good thing, a goodthing to do, Cool, Thank you
very much.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
I Cool.
Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
I appreciate it man,
are you with Patriot Hockey?
Speaker 10 (48:56):
I am Are you a
player?
Speaker 1 (48:57):
I am Okay.
What's your name?
Logan Logan.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
What military?
Speaker 1 (49:00):
branch.
I was in the Army, army, awesome.
Any awards or specialachievements?
Speaker 5 (49:06):
I mean just the
general ones you get out
deployed, you served baby, youserved, you served we.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
We're free because of
people like you.
Total respect.
My dad was in the army.
Right on World War II.
Speaker 5 (49:17):
What a hero.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
What got?
Speaker 5 (49:21):
you into hockey?
Oh man, probably Wayne Gretzky,or maybe the Ducks movies when
I was a kid I'm a 90s kid, sothe Mighty Ducks were.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Him right there, the
Ducks movies, unfortunately they
didn't become my team.
Wild Wing yes, favorite team is.
Speaker 5 (49:35):
The Kings Kings.
Yes, you go with the best.
Yes, thank you.
Favorite player Probably DrewDowdy.
Drew Dowdy, he's probably myall-time favorite player.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
Yeah, he would be in
the Army if he was in the
military.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
Oh for sure,
Absolutely For sure.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
Favorite hockey
moment.
Speaker 5 (49:54):
Oh man, it doesn't
have to be about the Kings.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
It could be about you
scoring a goal.
Speaker 5 (49:58):
It's true, I think it
is the Kings, though I think
probably their second run forthe Cup when, just like the
multiple back-to-back Game, 7s.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
That was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (50:09):
Justin Williams, mr
Game 7.
Yes, that's for sure, that'dprobably be my favorites.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Who chirped harder
hockey opponents or fellow
shoulders show soldiers oh man, that's a good question, I'd
probably say.
Speaker 5 (50:26):
I think I still think
hockey players, that's like,
that's kind of bred into their, their dna just part of the
culture, whereas in the armyyou're not really getting
chirped, you're kind of justgetting yelled at or making fun
of each other.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
Yeah, Drop down and
give me 20, right, yeah, okay,
let's see here what's yourfavorite goal or play.
Speaker 5 (50:45):
Goal or play.
I like one-timers, I thinkthey're gorgeous.
How about Alec?
Martinez, scoring thegame-winning goal Gorgeous, that
would be a big one.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
What's your favorite
part of being with Patriots?
Hockey, oh man.
Speaker 5 (51:02):
I mean, I just love
hockey and then I'm a veteran
and I need that camaraderie andjust this is like a home.
I've been here since it started, I left for a while, came back
and it's still a beautifulorganization.
Well you know, we do give youguys a lot of plugs on our
podcast.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
I love it and I don't
know if adam's mentioned it to
you.
Yeah, no, he's been on manytimes.
He'll probably be on many moretimes.
He's always.
Uh, even if he's not there,he's part of the podcast.
Yeah, he's always makingcomments, so tell us how do you
like adam.
You can be nasty if you want tobe.
Speaker 5 (51:37):
How much should I
chirp?
No, uh, no, he's amazing, he'sa rad dude, he works, he works
really hard to make sure thisstuff stays afloat and stays
what it should be.
And uh, you know, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
I love the guy yeah,
well, we do love him too.
We are hired a lot of gameswith him that's how.
Speaker 5 (51:54):
That's how I rub his
belly for good luck before every
game, you know pat him on thehead too on the belly, just all
right well I appreciate yourtime thank you so much guys yeah
, thank you all right.
Speaker 6 (52:05):
So what's your name?
Jason booth.
So what got you into hockey?
Uh, my family's from, fromcanada, moved down here, and
then there's just something inmy blood.
I came out at three years old.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
I want to play hockey
so you were pretty much just
born with skates I want to saythat I really didn't start till.
Speaker 6 (52:21):
I was, like you know,
like four, but my dad didn't
play, so it was hard to reallyget in.
But who's your favorite hockeyteam?
Speaker 2 (52:30):
oh, the flyers let's
cut this all right.
Who's your favorite player?
And if you say zegras, we'recutting this really quick, oh no
oh, that's hard on.
Speaker 6 (52:44):
I like burnsie brings
yeah, yeah, just because you
know he looks like me, so I usedto be a lot shaggy.
I.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
I agreed Me too
before I got married.
Favorite hockey moment Ooh.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Kings winning the Cup
.
Speaker 6 (53:01):
Oh, who does that?
I don't know.
I like every like, just everyOlympic game when Canada plays
the US, because then I get towin both ways.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Right.
Speaker 6 (53:14):
So how'd you hear
about Patriots organization Just
playing locally and havingfriends that were in the
military playing on the teams?
So I'd stop for them and playfor them.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
What made you want to
get into the organization and
the golf tournament today?
Just?
Speaker 6 (53:27):
help out, give back.
You know help you guys helpother people.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Thank you for the
interview.
Man Appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (53:34):
Thank you.
Speaker 9 (53:36):
So your name?
Uh, my name is vinny.
I'm the photographer for thetournament, vince neal media.
So, yeah, okay, give a plug.
Yeah, vince, no media.
You can follow me, uh, oninstagram under that.
Uh, I work between southerncalifornia, northern california
and the toronto canada area, soso you're a busy guy.
Yeah, what got you into hockey?
Um, I've been a fan since I waslittle.
(53:58):
I grew up with some Canadiansthat I went to school with that
were just always watching it, soit was kind of my plug there.
I started playing hockey in2019.
Started with roller, gotinjured like three years later,
so I was like, how do I get backon the ice?
Which led me to picking up thecamera again.
So I've shot for the rainTucson Roadrunners, bakersfield
(54:20):
Condors um, yeah, so it's beenfun.
It's been another way to justkind of be on the ice without
being able to be on the ice.
So so you can go ahead and plugyour favorite team right now um,
I grew up a diehard Sharks fanbut overall, like I'm very much
a hockey fan, so if there's ahome team, I'm rooting for them.
I'm also a diehard Reign fan, which makes no sense at all, but
(54:43):
I grew up just outside ofOntario, so they've been there
since we were Dragons andMaroons, so it was a good time.
Speaker 1 (54:49):
Perfect, do you have?
Speaker 9 (54:50):
a favorite player?
Ooh, brett Burns, probablyBrett Burns.
I was like brett burns.
I was like I have him tattooedon my leg so I guess that's
probably a pretty good thing, um, lately, and I mean, it
probably doesn't help that I'min toronto now, um, as a home
base.
But matt kynes is just he'swild, so he's fun to watch.
(55:11):
Uh, so he's been a good one.
But brett Burns definitely, Ithink, will sit on the podium as
a favorite.
He's still playing at what 42?
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Yeah, going into.
Speaker 9 (55:19):
Colorado, which is
crazy.
I thought he would retire ashark, so that was always a
bummer.
But he did good things inCarolina and I'm excited to
watch him in Colorado.
I think it'll be a good spacefor him to kind of flex what he
does too.
Speaker 1 (55:31):
Do you have a
favorite hockey moment?
Do?
Speaker 9 (55:36):
you have a favorite
hockey moment.
Probably unorthodox, but I do alot of work with the Patriots.
Hey, Patriots.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
So that's always been
Special moment.
There is just as good as yeah.
This is a hockey podcast numberone yeah, Right, Cody.
Speaker 9 (55:50):
So I think I've been
able to do a lot of photography
work with them, which is cool.
We did they do like on iceskates for charity and stuff at
the rain, and we did one justrecently LA Patriots versus,
like the San Diego IE Patriots, and it's one of those things
that I always say is cliche.
Hockey healed me.
You know what I mean.
I started playing hockey afterthe loss of my mom and you know
(56:12):
it gave me that space to havecommunity and to find a way to
heal.
Sometimes that was, you know, doing a little check here and
there on the ice just to get itout, or just having people that
you know understood it and werethere for you, whether it was,
you know, having an after gamebeer in the locker room, just
knowing there's a hard moment.
And so to see somebody like thePatriots organization who is
doing it on a much larger scalefor people who are putting it on
(56:34):
the line for us daily, ispretty cool.
So coming into that and thenthrough them, kind of vice versa
, I also work with anorganization called Stay Classy
out of San Diego which workswith veterans.
So they work really kind oftogether with Patriots and then
other local organizations aswell as underprivileged youth,
getting them into hockey andanimals, which is kind of cool,
(56:56):
um.
So I think walking into likethe charity hockey space and
seeing you know the game we lovealso heal other people, is
pretty cool well thank you.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
Yeah, absolutely
thank you guys oh all right.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Oh, so what's your
name, sir eric behar?
Well, what military branch didyou serve?
The marine corps.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate that any awards orspecial achievements that you
got in the military a.
Speaker 12 (57:17):
A couple.
Yeah, nothing I really want totalk about, though.
I mean, it's just stuff I did,it was fun, no, problem.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
So what got you into
hockey?
Ooh my kid actually.
Speaker 12 (57:27):
So I grew up playing
sports, but hockey wasn't
available to me and then at five, I made my kid play a team
sport and we're hockey fans.
So he chose hockey and Ithought he was insane, because
we're in san diego and I'm likeI don't know if you look around,
bro, but we got sun, not snow,uh.
But it turned out there weresix rinks in san diego and he
started at sdia.
(57:48):
He played for a couple yearsand I was like I need some of
this, like I I gotta get some ofthis business.
So I started playing too.
He's a goalie, so I'm a goalie.
Yeah, good time, crazy people.
Goalies are a rare breedFavorite hockey team Ooh, la
Kings, all day, all day, everyday.
Are there any other teams thatplay yeah?
Speaker 2 (58:10):
we've got Anaheim
Ducks.
I've never heard of them.
You know, the first team to winthe Stanley Cup in California,
but no big deal.
Speaker 12 (58:16):
The only one.
You guys got right.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Yeah, that's all
right.
We have a brighter future.
It's all right.
When's the last time you guyswon?
Just remember, we've won a morerecent playoff series than you
guys have.
Speaker 12 (58:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 12 (58:32):
Favorite NHL player?
Ooh, favorite NHL player.
Oh, favorite nhl current orall-time you know I gotta go.
I gotta go with kelly rudy.
Yeah, goalie la kings oldschool.
Kelly rudy, jonathan quick also.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
You know goalies, we
stick together yeah, yeah, go
wrong with quickie man, allright, favorite hockey moment
2012.
Speaker 12 (58:53):
That's a common one.
It is a common one.
Jazz hands Alec Martinez whenwe scored on the king himself,
lundqvist, that was 14.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Was it 14?
That?
Speaker 12 (59:04):
was 14.
Oh, 12 was against him.
I'm a Dutchman and I still knowI know it was against the Red
Wings or fucking the Devils.
Speaker 4 (59:09):
Yeah, no problem.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
That's all right, all
right, all right.
Who chirps harder your hockeyopponents or fellow soldiers?
Speaker 12 (59:16):
Ooh, yeah, soldiers,
you don't want that.
Yeah, they will.
They will hurt you yeah.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
I have a friend
that's in the military and the
way they talk I'm like wow, okay.
But then I know, with hockeyI'm like I think the military
guys, they really don't care.
Speaker 12 (59:30):
There's like an
ethics and etiquette when it
comes to the hockey fight.
What's your favorite hockeyplay or?
(59:52):
Goal that you've had.
Ooh, so I don't score goals.
Nope being a goalie.
Hey, there's still a goalie.
Goalie.
I do have an assist off of akick pad, off of a right kick
pad.
Save Like sent that thing allthe way down to the second blue
line.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
A goal is just as
good as an assist.
Speaker 12 (01:00:06):
Oh, I got apples all
day.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
See, I was a goalie
in soccer.
I used to kick.
I had like four or five assistsas a goalie in soccer.
So yeah, All right.
Last one what's your favoritepart of being a Patriot?
Speaker 12 (01:00:19):
Ooh, the locker room
.
Uh, there's something thathappens and I'm going to talk
about it today.
But when we get off the ice andeverybody wakes back up to
reality and we all kind of cometogether and talk about our days
and kind of get ready for theweek, there's there's nothing
like that magic and uh, yeah, that's my favorite part about
(01:00:40):
being a patriot.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Perfect, All right.
Thank you very much.
I really appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Thank you sir, could
you tell us?
Could you tell us your name?
Uh, jim cook, obviously it'sright on your shirt and you're
the chaplain right.
And you're going to do theopening prayer.
Yes, I am Awesome.
Thank you very much.
What got you into?
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
hockey.
What got me into hockey?
My daughter Andrea.
So she's part of the Patriots, the better half of Adam oh.
And so that's how I gotinvolved.
You're.
Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
Adam's father-in-law.
Yes, I am.
Speaker 10 (01:01:11):
We need a separate
interview with you now.
Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
Oh no, well, we
probably do.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
Could you give us a
little dirt on Adam?
No, I'm just kidding A littleor a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
What's your favorite
team?
What's my favorite team Rightnow?
Yeah, these guys, patriotHockey.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
I love that.
That's it.
That's the answer we shouldhave been getting right.
That's right.
Absolutely.
How about a favorite player,adam?
Oh, not Adam, not Adam.
Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
Oh yeah, adam.
What am I going to say?
Speaker 10 (01:01:41):
Awesome, everyone
but Adam.
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Do you have a
favorite hockey moment?
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
no nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Yet Adam hasn't done
something spectacular in a game
that impressed you.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
He's done some good
stuff, but nothing stands out
for me.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Okay, so you don't
have to have one of those see
I'm boring obviously you heardabout Patriot hockey through
Adam correct and Andrea morefrom Andrea than from Adam.
Speaker 4 (01:02:11):
Yeah, well, she's
special.
Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
What made you want to
get involved with the Patriots,
other than that your son-in-lawplays there?
Just the support.
Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
You know that the
Patriots in my eyes.
When you can take and you cancome alongside veterans and
support them in some prettydifficult situations throughout
their lives, it's prettyincredible to do that yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
And you know we're
not free without them, right?
We're not.
We're not so well.
I really appreciate your—.
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
There's a price for
everything that happens.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Very true, yeah, and
a lot of these poor guys have
been hurt in numerous differentways and yet they can find
relief and fun through hockey.
Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
You bet.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
And we appreciate
your time.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
And Adam can tell you
you're going to be on our
podcast this week.

Speaker 8 (01:03:22):
I was in the Navy for
six years.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Six years.
God bless you for your service, sir.
Thank you.
Do you have any awards orspecial achievements?
Speaker 8 (01:03:31):
The highest
achievement I got is the Navy
Achievement Medal for makingsure the chemical detection
agency on board our second shipwas in operation while we were
forward deployed in the Gulf offof Iran during operation,
during freedom.
Speaker 1 (01:03:48):
That's awesome.
What got you into hockey?
Speaker 8 (01:03:52):
You know what?
Believe it or not?
1988 Winter Olympics Watchingthat, my dad said, that's
awesome.
What got you into hockey?
You know what?
Believe it or not?
1988 Winter Olympics Watchingthat, my dad said, oh, you like
that sport?
I said, yeah, I love it.
I was eight years old at thetime and I wanted to play, and
when I became an adult, I wasable to start playing and join
the Patriots in 2016, 2015,2016,.
(01:04:12):
And been playing for them since.
You know, having a blast.
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Awesome Favorite team
.
Speaker 8 (01:04:22):
Oh, favorite team
Would have to be the Anaheim
Ducks.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Okay, we're still
winning Kings fans.
Speaker 8 (01:04:29):
By the way, we're
still winning Don't worry, you
got a good player with CoreyPerry.
Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
He's out six to eight
weeks.
Speaker 8 (01:04:38):
Favorite player, my
favorite player all time.
You know what?
I'm a big Bufflin that guy.
I love his defense.
He's a great defensive player.
Yeah, Bufflin would be myfavorite player.
Dustin Bufflin that guy.
I love his defense.
He's a great defensive player.
Yeah, Bufflin would be myfavorite player, Dustin Bufflin.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Okay, do you have a
favorite hockey moment, and it
doesn't have to be NHL?
Speaker 8 (01:05:01):
Oh yeah, no Favorite
hockey moment.
You know what?
My first playoff game was theAnaheim Ducks versus Calgary
Flames.
We were just up there a coupledays before for the final game
of the season.
It was my daughter's firstbirthday and it was at the
playoff game against the CalgaryFlames, so that was really cool
(01:05:22):
.
That was really cool.
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Who chirps harder
hockey opponents or fellow
soldiers?
Speaker 8 (01:05:29):
Oh, fellow soldiers,
I'm sorry, but fellow soldiers
they are.
They are brutal and they don'thold back, but they all do it
and love and fun, so that I, I,you know it's yeah so do you
have a favorite goal or playthat you uh would like to tell
us about?
um, it was probably my secondtime playing in the anaheim
(01:05:50):
throwback Classic tournamentActually, it's mine.
I was skating in on a breakaway.
Their defenseman actuallycaught up to me and I was able
to put it by the goalie on hisblocker side because his
defenseman screened me for him.
So that was probably myfavorite one.
It was a fun tournament and, yeah, that was my favorite
moment.
Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
And the last question
is your favorite thing about
Patriots hockey?
Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
The camaraderie I
mean the, the bond you build
with the players, all differentbranches just reaching out and
having that unison of team andcamaraderie.
I think that's my favoritething about Patriots hockey.
Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
So it isn't like when
Adams's in goal, like in
practice, and you just hit himreally hard with a shot.
Speaker 8 (01:06:36):
No, actually I
haven't shot against him, but
you know what?
Eric is a character?
I love that guy.
He's a fun guy, he's a good one.
Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
Awesome.
All right, maybe we can get himvideo using the cannon.
All right, first of all, yourname.
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
Justin Schmidt.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
What position do you
play?
Left or right wing, all right, are you a goal scorer?
Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
Well, I try to be,
but you know we're working on
that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
Okay, military branch
Marines.
Marines Should have guessed.
I should have looked at theshirt.
Sorry, any awards or special?
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
achievements Deployed
to Fallujah.
Iraq Was in the first battle ofFallujah in 2004.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
Everybody, hopefully
all of our fans.
Thank you for your service onthat.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
Appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
What got you into?
Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
hockey.
You into hockey?
Well, I grew up in Michigan.
I'm the oldest of nine kids andI would play pond hockey with
my siblings.
I always wanted to playorganized hockey, but my parents
couldn't afford it.
And so once I finally got a joband, you know, was able to
(01:07:49):
afford the skates and theequipment and all of that, I
started playing.
So joining the Patriots was oneof the best things I could do
for sports.
It was something I wanted to doall my life and it was finally
a chance to get out there andplay some organized hockey.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Awesome Favorite team
.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Detroit Red Wings.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Okay, surprised on
that one.
Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
Well, I'm from
Michigan.
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
That's right, okay,
yeah, well, you guys had a very
good history there.
Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
We had a good history
.
We're trying to get back there.
How about favorite player?
Favorite player.
I always liked Federoff.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
I was thinking you
were an Iserman guy or maybe
Lindstrom, but that's okay.
Yeah, favorite hockey moment.
Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
I guess favorite
hockey moment was, you know,
first time scoring a goal withthe Patriots.
All right yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
Awesome.
I think that should have beeneverybody's right.
Yeah, who chirps harder hockeyopponents or fellow soldiers?
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
That's a tough one,
I'd say.
I gotta say, fellow soldiers, you know you're in the mix with
them and they can chirp prettyhard, okay so what's your
favorite goal or play, obviously, maybe that first goal with the
Patriots.
I would say that it's gotta be.
It was just a slam bam play, you know.
(01:09:17):
So slap shot and you justremember that for the rest of
your life.
It's fun yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Okay, um, you have a
favorite goal or play.
Well, obviously, maybe that'sstill the same one, right?
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Probably the same one
, well what's your favorite part
of being part of the PatriotHockey Network?
I think the best part of it isjust seeing the camaraderie of
all of these different branchescoming together, especially in a
place like California.
I moved out here only six yearsago and, coming from a place
(01:09:51):
like Michigan where everyonegrows up ice skating and playing
hockey, to come into SouthernCalifornia and having a real
organization like this whereeveryone's involved in hockey.
Didn't think I would find thatcoming out here, but I'm really
happy I did.
Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
So what you're saying
is Patriot hockey was a
blessing, right?
I would say that's accurate,yes, okay.
Well, thank you so much fortalking with us.
You get to go shoot that cannonnow.
Let's go do it.
Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
Have some fun.
Thanks, all right.
Speaker 13 (01:10:23):
So what's your name?
I am Mike Cano, comedian outhere in the Inland Empire
supporting Patriots hockey hereat their annual golf tournament
in the beautiful city ofTemecula.
I thought this was a differentgolf course.
We went out in the woods, kindof like hills, have high vibes
and then boom, beautiful golfcourse in the middle of nowhere
with terrible reception.
So let's see if this video evencomes out.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
Oh no, this is just
on regular video.
We don't need anything because, trust me, I work out here.
I deliver propane in this area.
I anything because, trust me, Iwork out here.
Speaker 13 (01:10:53):
I deliver propane in
this area.
I'm used to this another kingof the hill.
Reference your foot bobby.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Let's go, all right
all right favorite nhl hockey
team favorite nhl hockey team.
Speaker 13 (01:11:04):
You're wearing it
right there in your chest thank
you, but I gotta tell you what.
Speaker 9 (01:11:07):
I gotta tell you what
it's.
Speaker 13 (01:11:09):
I got to tell you
what it's hard, though, because
I love the rain.
I'm from Ontario and we're theKings.
You know what I mean?
Feeder team and I don't know, bro, that's like tomato, tomato.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
That's like who do
you love more?
Speaker 13 (01:11:20):
mom or dad, I don't
know bro.
Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
At this point, mom,
more for me.
Speaker 13 (01:11:24):
I grew up on the
movie that they made it off.
Of course I'm sitting therequack, quack, quack, quack.
But the Kings man?
There's nothing but legendscoming out of there.
I know, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Favorite NHL hockey
player.
It could be current or all time.
Speaker 13 (01:11:38):
Oh, bro, that's
going to be Goldberg the goalie
from the Disney version, rightthere, that's what I'm talking
about Goldberg Goldberg thegoalie.
Yeah, he's a comic too, man.
He's a cool dude.
He's a cool dude.
Favorite hockey moment?
Oh, favorite hockey moment, man, I don't think I have a
(01:11:58):
favorite hockey moment, bro.
This is so hard to answer allthese like on the spot.
But definitely any playoffmoment is a highlight.
I'm a highlight guy, bro.
That's it.
I love them, I watch them.
I'm too cheap or too lazy halfthe time to go to most games, so
I'm living off highlights, bro.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
That's how I go
that's a beauty part of the
ducks having the victory.
Plus it's free to watch.
Speaker 13 (01:12:21):
You just have to
watch all those horrible ads
yeah, for like extends and m'sand I'm like what is going on
here all?
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
right.
Speaker 13 (01:12:29):
So how'd you hear
about patriots hockey so, uh,
two of the founders, of course, that run it, believe it or not,
used to come to my comedy showsa long time ago for some of
their date nights.
They used to come out, have fun, laugh, get in the mood and
then go make sweet, sweet love.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
Oh, we're going to
cut that out of the podcast.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 13 (01:12:51):
Sorry, okay.
I'm sorry, sorry Okay, I dochurches too.
You just got to tell me what Ican't.
Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
No, you're fine,
you're fine.
So what made you want to getinvolved with Patriots hockey
and the tournament?
Speaker 13 (01:13:02):
Anything that's got
to do with veterans, man.
I, just as many organizationsare out there to help them.
I know all the funding doesn'tgo.
I, I know all the fundingdoesn't go.
I know there's a lot ofbureaucracy.
I know there's a lot of moneyjust slipping away here and
there.
This is an organization that Isee.
Whatever funds are raised, gostraight to them.
Go straight to them playinghockey, go straight to them
playing in events or activities, and it's just when you see it

a good cause, of course.
So when they roll up, I'm goingto go give them an option to
golf and get roasted, or to helpfundraise for the organization
and shut me up for 10 bucks aplayer, or 20 bucks for a player
(01:14:08):
, even shut me up and get aneagle.
But here's a cool thing is, atthe end of the day, I get to
raise funds for a greatorganization.
I get to make fun of everybody.

Even the people that
pay usually want me to roast
them as well, and these videosusually go pretty viral with all
their friends oh, I, that's howI knew when I saw there was a
heck of a hole, like, oh, that'sthe first place I gotta go,
because I see it on tiktokinstagram all the time, or
they're just.
Your job is to make them backoff the tee pretty much.
Speaker 13 (01:14:32):
