SPEAKER_02 (01:14):
Welcome back, fans,
to Royally Quack.
I'm Royal.
And he's quack.
SPEAKER_00 (01:23):
I think half of that
is true, but that's a little
foreshadowing for later today.
Um, so that was an interestingintro, but I would say half of
it is right.
I'm I'd I definitely want to becleaning up one of those two.
(01:45):
I think most Ducks fans aregonna agree with me right now.
SPEAKER_02 (01:49):
Yeah, uh well what's
funny is this app actually I'm
not- I can't say it was soundasleep last night, but it popped
in my head.
And I just had to share it withyou guys.
And uh maybe it is aforeshadowing of what uh Cody
wanted to talk about in a coupleof minutes, but I have a great
(02:12):
trivia question we're gonnastart off the podcast with.
Um probably the number onecenter on team USA.
Who would you guess that to be?
That is not the true triviaquestion, though.
Who would be the number onecenter on team USA then?
SPEAKER_00 (02:31):
I would say, I mean,
I would probably say Austin
Matthews.
SPEAKER_02 (02:34):
Okay.
So Austin Matthews opening game.
Do you know what how many goalshe scored?
Do you remember?
SPEAKER_00 (02:43):
His first ever game?
Four goals.
SPEAKER_02 (02:46):
Four goals.
Well, do you know who had theprimary assist on his first ever
goal?
SPEAKER_00 (02:54):
The primary assist
on his first ever goal.
SPEAKER_02 (02:58):
Yes.
And you you would know thisperson pretty well.
He's not with Toronto anymore.
SPEAKER_00 (03:09):
Okay, he's not with
Toronto anymore.
I know the player.
SPEAKER_02 (03:16):
Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (03:18):
Does he play on one
of our two teams?
SPEAKER_02 (03:20):
No, he does not play
on one of our two teams.
SPEAKER_00 (03:23):
When I saw this, I I
go, is this is is this player
playing in the East Coast orWestern Conference or Eastern
Conference?
Codry?
SPEAKER_02 (03:43):
No.
Oh, he did play in Toronto, didn't he?
SPEAKER_00 (03:48):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (03:49):
I forgot that.
But it's not Codre.
Great guess.
This person also obviouslyplayed in Toronto, but I when I
saw this, I didn't remember it.
Or maybe I just didn't know it.
I'm not really sure which onethat is.
It wasn't Cas it wasn'tCasanima.
I can tell you the person stillplays in the Pacific Division.
SPEAKER_00 (04:12):
Plays in the Pacific
Division.
Huh.
SPEAKER_02 (04:21):
And I know Kings
fans hate him.
One of them, well, they hate himbecause of the team he plays.
I'm giving you so many hintshere.
And no, it's not anybody on theAnaheim Ducks.
SPEAKER_00 (04:39):
No, well well, I
already asked that question, so
just for fancy.
So in the Pacific, can't standhim.
SPEAKER_02 (04:48):
If you can't stand
if you think about that uh and
you realize what team I'mtalking about, you'll
understand.
SPEAKER_00 (04:57):
So he's on he's on
Edmonton.
SPEAKER_02 (05:00):
Bingo.
SPEAKER_00 (05:03):
I'm just trying to
remember.
SPEAKER_02 (05:06):
Prior 50 goal
scorer.
SPEAKER_00 (05:11):
Hyman?
SPEAKER_02 (05:12):
Zach Hyman, primary
assist on Austin Matthews.
I forgot I keep forgetting hewas a meeting.
SPEAKER_00 (05:19):
I always forget that
he was a meetable leaf.
SPEAKER_02 (05:21):
I was flattergasted
at that.
I was going like, really?
And they let him go.
SPEAKER_00 (05:30):
Yeah.
Well, Toronto hasn't made thebest of choices.
With, you know, they let Codrygo.
They let Hyman go.
You know.
Probably not the best ideas, butthey let Kelso go and then he
wins two Stanley Cups with theirrival in Boston.
(05:50):
Or no, not Boston.
Um, not, I guess, not a rival inPittsburgh.
SPEAKER_02 (05:57):
Okay, so we want to
get on to King's News.
We're gonna start with King'sNews.
It's King's News.
Not a whole lot.
Um, as you know, we're intraining camp right now, and the
Kings have assigned forwards JanChauvan, Jimmy Lombardi, and
Gold under Carter George totheir prospective junior teams.
Additionally, defenseman NateCorbett, who I give full kudos
(06:22):
on taking on the bruiser fromAnaheim, who was twice as big as
them, and fought as heart out atan Irvine Great Park Ice.
Yeah, Great Park Ice.
Uh Nate Corbett uh has beenreleased from his PTO.
Um that's we're gonna get we wedo have games to talk about, so
(06:45):
there's a lot more news with uhthe three uh preseason games
we've had in the last week.
But on to Duck News with theShovel Boy Cody.
SPEAKER_00 (06:58):
So Frank Zerveli
reports I know it's not a good
source when it comes to ducksmedia, but I I wouldn't I mean I
think he's more wrong when itcomes to trades, you know, like,
oh, ducks are looking to tradehim, even though he's been
technically right, just it justtook three years for them to
(07:19):
happen.
Um, but Frank Ceravelli reportsthat the Ducks and Mason
McTavish camp have settled onthe term of the contract, and
it's not a short-term deal, um,but they are still far apart on
the money side.
There's gonna be more on thislater.
Not not much later.
Um, next up is um Kreider was onthe Empty Netters podcast with
(07:43):
the the Powers Brothers.
You know, shout out them.
They do I love their podcast.
Um and Kreider told them, uh,and this is what Kreider said
about Jackson Lacombe.
He's in quote, I don't think heknows how good he is yet.
He's Warwinsky elite.
It's crazy to watch him on adaily basis.
(08:09):
Those are big words, those arebig words, and it's not like
Kreider, you know, he he's beenaround the league, he's played
with Fox, Lundquist, Panarin.
He's played with some topplayers over there in New York
and played against top playersover there in the in the metro
area.
So he knows I would say he knowswhat he's talking about.
(08:34):
Now my favorite part of thepodcast.
I have not one, I have tworants.
I yes, that's right, you heardme.
Two rants.
Alright, so I have one, and it'sfunny because they both start
with the letter V.
Victory Plus.
(08:56):
You guys need to stop playingreplays during live play.
Like, I'm watch like we I swear,I think we almost missed a goal
because you guys wanted to startor start a replay during live
play.
That's that's you're that's thewhole point of the watching it
(09:17):
is you want to watch it live.
You don't want to see a replayduring live play.
Save that for the commercials.
I don't need to see peoplelooking up at the Jumbotron and
the commer like you know duringthose little TV timeouts.
You know, I rather see thereplays during that time than
during live play.
That's that's one part ofVictory Plus.
(09:38):
Second part of Victory Plus, youguys need to do you guys really
need to work on your volumecontrol.
I'm listening to on myheadphones because my wife's
watching TV.
I'm listening on my headphones, and I gotta turn the volume up
just to even hear theannouncers, and then all of a
(09:58):
sudden it randomly goes on acommercial, you know, like they
have like that each TV networkhas that, like that special,
like little theme song kind ofthing, or like that special
sound.
Well, the sound was so loud, myliterally my headphones popped
(10:18):
out of my ear.
I thought I went deaf.
Like, I I shouldn't have toobare.
I like it was literally likehere was like the commentators,
and then here was the volume forthat sound effect.
We can't have that.
(10:39):
Like, you you need to equalizethe sounds that way you're not
bursting people's eardrums.
Because if my eardrums getbursted, I'm definitely gonna
sue.
It's ridiculous.
And then let me skipcommercials.
Like, I'm trying to skip forwardand it keeps playing the same
(11:02):
thing, and it played it fourtimes in a row.
So, like I said, I know it'sfree, I appreciate that.
I do, but I said I'm not askingfor the world here.
You know, just fix that.
SPEAKER_02 (11:23):
Sorry.
SPEAKER_00 (11:24):
Bless you.
SPEAKER_02 (11:25):
All right.
Well, I have I have one bone topick.
I tried to get that game on theother night just for a little
bit.
And out of all I got was lag.
And never even went to the game.
So I I went to uh EFPN.
SPEAKER_00 (11:41):
I just hope I hope
it's just a preseason thing
because I don't ever remember itbeing that bad last season at
all.
And it's not like they it's notlike the Ducks are the only
team, sports team in theirnetwork.
They have the Dallas Stars, theyhave the Texas Rangers.
So you'd think they would havemore bugs, you know, fixed.
(12:02):
But like I said, I just hopeit's just preseason stuff right
now.
So, you know, maybe maybe it'sjust part of the you know, NHL,
like you know, the players needtheir preseason to get ready for
the regular season.
Maybe it's like the same thingfor Victory Plus.
They need the preseason to getready for the regular season.
That's what I hope it's for.
But Victory Plus, please justfix those things because I I
(12:27):
shouldn't have to you know worryabout me going deaf during
commercials.
Alright, I'm done with theVictory Plus one.
Verbeek.
Okay.
So we hear that Frank ZivalFrank Saravali said that they
have settled on the term ofcontract, so the years.
(12:48):
You know, my if it's six, seven, eight years.
I don't care.
And they're still so far aparton money.
Verbeek, you need to know what'sI know I understand you want to
get the best deal for you aspossible, but you're also this
is the third time that this hashappened where we've had a big
(13:12):
RFA player missing importanttime with a brand new coach and
coaching staff.
You know, we had Zegris andDrysdale from a couple of two
years ago when Cronin first camein.
Ziegris and Drysdale both mademissed significant time during
training camp.
And they both had horribleyears.
(13:35):
I mean, both of them gotinjured, but like I said, that's
partially on Verbeak.
You need to get these playerssigned so that we that way
they're NHL ready for theseason.
Yes, I know Verbiak uh notVerbique, McTavish is over in
Ottawa playing uh practicingwith the Ottawa 67s, which I
(13:57):
don't know why he went to Ottawa67s, because that's not where
not even where he played.
He played with thePeterborough's Pete's and the
Hamilton Bulldogs, but whatever.
At least he's playing, he'sdoing something over there.
But you're telling me you you'reso far apart after a full week
of training camp and threepreseason games.
(14:21):
We only have four games left, still not even close to a
contract.
Actually, he's probably not evengonna play, so there's really
only three games left, becausewe have the game today in
Bakersfield.
So I I it I just have a I have agut feeling that McTavish is not
(14:42):
gonna have a good season justbecause it's what's happened in
the past.
We need to fix this.
Like for Beek, sign him.
I don't care.
I there was a rumor from us fromuh that someone came out and
said that they had a reliablesource.
(15:03):
Like I said, I don't know ifit's true or not, but they were
saying that McTavish and themare saying that eight by seven
they wanted eight by seven.
I would have signed him in aheartbeat.
I'm like, all right, get on theice and go work with Quinville.
Go.
I would have signed him rightthere.
I would have been okay withseven and a half, eight million
per season for the next eightyears.
(15:23):
Get him out there.
Because with the you have therising cap.
And the other thing I'm worriedabout is so we've had Drysdale,
Ziegris, and now McTavish as bigRFAs that are missing time
because of contract disputes.
You know how many RFA big RFAswe have next year, Dad, for the
Ducks?
I do not four.
(15:45):
We have four next season alone.
Lacomb?
No.
Actually, five, then.
Um you we would have Carlson,Cutter, Lacombe, Minchikov, and
Zellberger.
Five.
And we can't even get wow.
(16:10):
I'm I'm really worried thatVerbeek is gonna be the reason
why this team doesn't get far.
SPEAKER_02 (16:20):
So just in
retrospect, let's think about
this.
I mean, he had a good year lastyear.
He had a subpar year the yearbefore.
So say they do the the eight bysevens true.
They might be slightlyoverpaying him maybe this year
(16:43):
and next year.
But if he keeps getting betterby year of five, he's gonna be
way underpaid.
If you think about that.
No, I was just talking about.
SPEAKER_00 (16:57):
That's what I'm
seeing.
But you also gotta remember, hisbad years were with Dallas
Eakens and Gray Cronin as thecoach.
And the Ducks teams wereeveryone was horrible.
Nobody really had good offensiveyears.
This team is so much better now.
He is there's better playersaround everyone.
(17:18):
You know, Kreider, Carlson,Cutter, Granlon.
We have all these better playersaround us where that should
bring more offensive you knowplay in.
Of course, that hasn't reallyturned out in the preseason
games, but we'll get more onthat later.
But you're telling me wecouldn't we can't come to terms
(17:41):
because I think Verbique is setat five and a half million AAV.
I agree.
That's gonna be a good contractfor the first what?
Maybe two years.
Like I can understand, like,yeah, he's probably at 5.5
million the next two years.
But if you're doing eight years, you gotta pay a little bit more
too.
I would do eight by eight in aheartbeat for McTabish because a
(18:04):
2C in eight years, they'reprobably gonna be making um
probably a good 10, 10, 12million in but in eight years
because of the the rising capand everything.
We need to get McTabish signed.
It's it's bad.
(18:25):
I'm tired of this and I'mworried for next season,
especially with Carlson, Cutter,Lacombe, Minty, Zellwigger.
We have five people that aregonna be up for our RFAs next
year.
But yet we're okay with giving,I guess I don't hate the
signings, but you're okay withgiving Calorne 4 by 6.25
(18:50):
million.
That's a big overpay.
Granlin three by seven.
Okay.
You traded for Truba and he'smaking eight million.
You know, I I feel like the he'sokay with giving these veteran
(19:11):
free agents all this extramoney, but when it comes to the
people that are gonna be reallyrunning this team for the next
eight eight to ten years, he'snickel and diming everyone.
SPEAKER_02 (19:25):
Yeah.
So I you know, as a hockey fan,I I find this really sad, very
sad, that um you got all thisyoung talent and you need to get
(19:45):
it toned if you want to get backinto the playoffs.
Um I and I understand beingfiscally responsible, but I
mean, you guys if you blow this, you're you're gonna be bad for
another ten years.
(20:05):
Because you know, you're gonnahave these kids, you might draft
them, and they're gonna go tocollege and they'll play three
years at college, and thenbecome a free agent, go
somewhere else.
So all your draft picks will goaway.
And and that's one thing he hadto be careful with.
You know, you start settingthese precedents of how you're
(20:26):
treating the players, and theleague don't play without the
players, for sure.
So, I mean, one thing I gottasay, typically I I can't speak
for like what Kidden Holland'sdoing, because I know we we're
still waiting for Kempe to get acontract, but I think they have
at least spoken and are hopingto have something done by
(20:48):
Christmas time.
And Kempe said he was okay withthat because he wants to stay in
LA.
Well, I think McCavish wants tostay to be a duck, and you know,
granted that if he gets seven, seven and a half million, you
know, it makes Byfield'scontract look better for sure.
(21:10):
I mean, because he'd be makingmore money than Byfield, and I
don't think he's that muchbetter than Byfield is.
And a lot of people don'trealize I and I Cody and I
talked about this during theweek that you know, because he
he gave me all the stats, youknow, and and and McTavish had a
(21:34):
little bit better stats.
But did that in take intoconsideration that uh Byfield
had uh a broken ankle and thenthat he had those issues with
his uh adence that made I meanhe he lost like 20 pounds before
that one season because of it.
(21:54):
And he missed a first part of alittle part of the first season
that that one season, and thenhe played and and he got better
towards the end of the season.
Then I think he was out towardsthe end of the season and the
one season where he started offlike gangbusters, and um second
half he didn't score a whole lotof goals.
Well, he changed that up thislast year.
(22:16):
Uh so I don't know.
I I I understand yourfrustration.
Maybe that's why you had theterrain.
Because I I I I knew I I knewyou were upset about that.
SPEAKER_00 (22:31):
It's not it's not
just me, it's all it's all of
us.
All Ducks fans are annoyed rightnow.
SPEAKER_02 (22:36):
Yeah, and it you
know, like I said, it's
understandable.
And uh like as a hockey van, wewant to see the best out there.
So, you know, and we did haveour little simulation, and it
and if it would be true, whathappened in that simulation,
what the stats that McTavishhad.
(23:00):
If that happens, I'd I'm gonnabet bottom dollar the ducks are
a wild card team this year.
I mean, because he was almostscoring scoring a point a game.
SPEAKER_00 (23:10):
He was a point a
game.
SPEAKER_02 (23:12):
Um, I think he was
one point off being a point a
game.
So it's really close.
But I would count it.
But if he's doing that, you'regonna have a lot of those other
players are gonna be picking itup.
And and you guys have such a astrong um you know farm system,
whatever you want to call it, ofkids coming up.
(23:35):
I mean, you're sending the wrongmessage, guys.
Honestly, I mean I'm gonna go.
SPEAKER_00 (23:40):
No, no, no, don't
say guys, it's Verbeek.
You're sending the wrongmessage, Verbiak.
SPEAKER_02 (23:45):
Oh, wait a second.
There are people above him thatcould tell him what to do.
SPEAKER_00 (23:49):
So I'm saying I know
I know it's Verbeek and Solomon,
Jeff Solomon.
They're I know they're they'rehard-nosed people, but is it is
it really worth saving the oneand a half million a year or you
know two two and two million ayear, and having a one pri your
(24:10):
two C for the next possibleeight years or more?
SPEAKER_02 (24:14):
Well, here's here
there's an old saying, you have
to spend money to make money.
And hockey, if you're notspending money, I mean you look
at the contracts that a lot ofthese better teams have, they're
spending the money.
Look at the Dodgers.
You know that the Dodgerspayroll is like$120 million more
(24:34):
than the Anaheim Angels or thewhatever LA Angels.
SPEAKER_00 (24:39):
I'm gonna go Anaheim
Angels because I think that's
the the triple-A Angels got it,yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (24:44):
Yeah.
Um$120 million more.
And if a Dodger fan says, hey,you know, we're gonna go to the
playoffs, we won the WorldSeries, they go.
Well, yeah, because yourownership's willing to spend the
money to get you there.
Where ours is uh trying to makeas much money as he can instead
of giving us the great product.
(25:05):
And what's really sad, I I uhdriving home last night from
work, I listened to the game, and and Trout in the bottom of
the eighth inning hits hissecond homer of the game.
You know, and then Terry Smith'stelling what the what the um
attendance was.
Do you want to know what theattendance was for a team that's
(25:26):
probably in last place?
Do you know how many people theyhad there last night?
Of course they're playing thehated Astros, so maybe half of
them were Astro fans.
SPEAKER_00 (25:35):
I would say what
5,600 people?
SPEAKER_02 (25:39):
It was 37,000
people.
SPEAKER_00 (25:42):
37,000?
SPEAKER_02 (25:44):
You know, I'm I'm
gonna call this out on a hockey
podcast.
For all you angel fans like meand Cody.
SPEAKER_00 (25:52):
Don't call me an
Angels fan now, please.
SPEAKER_02 (25:55):
Liar.
So liar.
SPEAKER_00 (25:57):
Okay, like I said, I
know I am an Angels fan, but I
just I I can't support themright now.
SPEAKER_02 (26:02):
If you if you want
change, don't go to the games.
Oh, I'm not you want change, make it where Artie's not making
money, so he'll sell he's he'sat 80 ought to sell the team
anyway.
Uh I don't think anybody in hisfamily wants to do it.
So sell the team to someone whocares.
I got but let's get back tohockey.
SPEAKER_00 (26:23):
This isn't what did
what what did I say to you?
What did I say to you when youoffered me those free Angels
tickets earlier this season?
No.
Yeah.
I turned down free tickets to myfate, I would say, like I said,
my favorite baseball team.
(26:44):
But I just can't I can't supportthem right now until things
change.
SPEAKER_02 (26:48):
Yeah, that was that
my company paid for those
tickets, and I gave them I gavethem to uh uh a nice young man
that uh well I guess he he sortof works for me.
SPEAKER_00 (27:00):
I mean, he really
works for neo-genomics, but uh
doesn't work and and I hope hehad a great time, but I I know I
would have hated being there.
Yeah, you know.
I I hope he had a great time.
I hope, you know, and whoever hetook had a good time too.
I just I can't support theangels right now.
Yeah, I I I I like I said Idon't pay attention to them.
(27:23):
I stopped listening to some ofthe podcasts just because I'm
done with with it until thingschange.
So breaking news.
Just after we finished our livestream Saturday morning, the
news broke.
Mr.
McTavish and the N.I.H.M.
(27:44):
Ducks have agreed to a six-yeardeal worth 7 million AAV.
I cannot tell you how happy I amthat McTavish is finally signed
and he can now start workingwith the new coaching staff and
uh and what like Quenville,Woodcroft, and all this.
(28:05):
Uh I'm recording thisseparately, uh, just after
everything uh is over.
Um, but I get to I cannot tellyou how happy I am that this is
done.
And I just thought it was funnyhow after you just heard my
rant, which I'm gonna place thisjust after the rant and
everything.
Um, how I went off on Verbeak, and maybe Verbeek heard the live
stream rant that I had, andmaybe this is what propelled him
(28:28):
to officially sign MacyMcTavish.
So now, Fix fans, we can allbreathe, we can relax.
McTavish is now signed for thenext six years at 7 million AAV.
Um, who I want to hear what youguys think.
Do you think that's a little toomuch or is the perfect amount?
I think he deserved a little bitmore, but I'm okay with the six
(28:52):
by seven.
So all right, well, we'llcontinue on with the live stream
or the rest of the video.
SPEAKER_02 (28:58):
So meanwhile, back
at the rank, let's go to League
News.
Cody lead us off on the leaguenews.
SPEAKER_00 (29:05):
All right.
Uh you want me to lead it offbecause you don't want to say
that name, right?
SPEAKER_02 (29:09):
Correct.
SPEAKER_00 (29:11):
I figured.
So um the Edmonton Oilers havesigned forward Vasali Potkolzen
to a three-year extension worth2.95 million AAV.
SPEAKER_02 (29:23):
Yay.
I would have said it right.
Uh restricted.
Here's another bit of news, another restricted free agent,
Luke Hughes, one of the trio ofHughes brothers that play in the
NHL.
And the New Jersey Devils arestill in disagreement and still
a ways apart.
(29:44):
Her uh Peter LeBron.
So it it's not just the Ducks,it's also New Jersey.
They may be a little bit morecat.
strap than the ducks are, somaybe that's why that's
happening.
Uh but you know, if if he'sanything like his brothers, you
(30:08):
need to sign the boy.
If not, he can come play for us.
SPEAKER_00 (30:13):
Maybe that's what
he's trying to do.
Maybe he's waiting to see whathappens with Luke Hughes and
then we get Quinn Hughes in acouple years and then Jack will
come over in a trade.
unknown (30:24):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (30:25):
I mean the devil the
devils have five million in cap
space.
unknown (30:30):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (30:31):
They're not hurting.
Do you not think he wants atleast five million?
SPEAKER_00 (30:35):
No, I I would give
him five million a year.
SPEAKER_02 (30:38):
Easy.
He probably wants more likeseven million.
SPEAKER_00 (30:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (30:42):
He's the youth.
SPEAKER_00 (30:44):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (30:44):
Royal they're royal
players in in actual hockey.
The very respected family withsome outstanding talent.
SPEAKER_00 (30:55):
Yeah.
Next bit of news is Carolina andVegas along with one or two
others are the suitors for theCarter Hart sweepstakes.
I don't know if I would call itsweepstakes, but um but
Philadelphia and Edmonton areout.
Hart is expected to sign atwo-year deal when eligible on
(31:15):
October 15th.
He can agree to terms on October1st and he can also get an AHL
loan games when eligible in midto late November before the
December 1st suspension lifts.
And that's I believe current perChris Johnston.
SPEAKER_02 (31:35):
Okay.
Well we have Luke Hughes twicein the news.
Oh that's okay.
No speaking of Pierre LeBron hesays that defenseman Rasmus
Anderson would be open tosigning an eight year don't
delete that in the middle of metalking please oh I deleted it
(31:57):
before you even started talking.
No it just went off well as I Ijust thought just disappeared.
An eight-year extension but theCalvary flames are not willing
to go that long he mentionedthat Anderson was almost traded
to the Vegas Golden Knights thissummer.
How do they get everybody?
(32:18):
I mean I I just don't get thatbut a deal never did
materialize.
LeBrun consider it impossiblebut unlikely that Anderson
resigns with the the flames andhe didn't want to come to LA
because they had a trade allworked out for him last uh last
well during the off season.
SPEAKER_00 (32:40):
Yeah.
First early offseason and here'ssome a couple sad news for
especially for captains of theirteams um Dallas Stars general
manager Jim Neil announced todaythat Captain Jamie Benn will
undergo surgery for a collapsedlung.
(33:02):
He would die he was diagnosedwith the injury late in the
third period of Tuesday'spreseason game against the
Minnesota Wild that is expectexpected to make a full recovery
and will be reevaluedreevaluated in four weeks.
SPEAKER_02 (33:20):
Yeah and we he was
talking about captains Alexander
Barcott is undergoing surgery onhis knee and is expected to miss
the whole 25 26 season viaElliot Friedman and I heard it
was an ACL so you know dependingon how fast he uh does his rehab
(33:47):
it it could be a little bit inthe next season possibly
probably not because the surgeryis much easier than it used to
be in the recovery period.
SPEAKER_00 (33:57):
We've seen football
players come back in nine months
on it well I heard it was sevento nine months that he's going
to be out well nine months isgoing to be the season.
Yeah which is that's going totake it sucks.
Yeah like you know I and it'sfunny it's you don't as much as
everyone probably doesn't likethe Panthers and and everything
(34:20):
how they do everything you don'twish this on on Alexander Barkov
he's like I said I know he's thecaptain but he's one of those
people that I mean I you loveyou love watching him play he
plays the game the right way andeverything I like I said
probably top he's probably whatthe number one two-way center in
(34:44):
the league by far.
SPEAKER_02 (34:47):
I mean uh you know a
guy who who obviously reminds me
of uh our our great uh AnzeKopatar two-way player captain
he's a winner I meanunfortunately for the flames I
mean not the flames but thePanthers um now they have him
(35:10):
off and and off till probablymaybe January I I mean that's as
soon as Kachuk's gonna come backand Barkov is the engine that
makes that go.
SPEAKER_00 (35:25):
And I didn't think
about this until loaded just
this minute but I I believe thatBarkov was also the captain of
Finland and the Olympics isgoing to be this year so he's
probably missing that too wellno doubt he's gonna he's not
gonna be ready to play hockey byFederal no I'm just saying but
like Finland is even you knowit's not only just the Panthers
(35:49):
Finland just lost their numberone center and their captain too
Olympics and you said peopledon't like the Panthers I mean
because they're winners um Ithink it's how they do
everything.
SPEAKER_02 (36:00):
But if you see how
they are as a team that would be
a team I'd want to play for ohyeah I mean they care.
Everybody cares about everybodyI mean that was so apparent with
uh Marshawn going over there andhim talking about you know and
(36:22):
he re-signed and they signed himfor a longer contract than he
obviously deserved because youknow if they would have
everybody back they'd probablywin it again you know bar
obviously barring injury andthis is a big blow.
I mean they they're they'restill gonna be decent don't get
me wrong but are they gonna beelite I I don't know without
(36:45):
Barkov so yeah but um so Torontohas signed uh ducks legend
goalie James Reimer to a PTOokay Canadian Steve David
Reinbacher has broken hand andis out for four weeks yeah we're
(37:06):
having too many injuries I don'tlike to see it this is what
we're talking a lot of this isinjuries and you know what I
want to beat you with your bestif I can yeah and then uh
another oh another broken handuh the cracking forward Capo
Kako will miss six weeks due toa broken hand wow and the
(37:32):
Buffalo Sabres have extendedtheir lease at Key Bank Center
through September 2031 the teamhad an option to either continue
their lease for an additionalfive years or opt out on
September 30th.
Well that's Monday is thatMonday no yeah that's Tuesday
(37:52):
and don't don't forget Monday'syour sister's birthday Samantha
if you're watching you can seeit live on Royally Quacked happy
birthday happy birthday sis Iwouldn't say the other word but
I'm being nice yes happybirthday to you happy birthday
to you happy birthday dearSamantha Sammy Happy birthday to
(38:19):
you love you and for yourpresent uh for your present I'll
be at the ducks game um say hito the kids for me and Justin we
love you guys and miss you nownow to the preseason Cody so so
(38:40):
I mean we have two two of no wehave two two two ducks versus
kings and and each of us haveone game that wasn't against
each other.
Okay so we could talk about thegame a little bit together then
yeah so let's talk about thefirst one the Ducks versus Kings
on the 21st yes so how do wewant to do this Cody um I I'll
(39:12):
talk about how the Ducks didreally bad and then you can go
and how the Kings did reallywell does that work sure all
right so the Ducks only scoredone goal this game and it was in
the first period we got thefirst goal of the game in a
(39:33):
minute and 25 in uh NikitaNestarenko unassisted scored the
lone goal for the ducks I saidunassisted um we had a total of
27 shots we were 0 for three onthe power play and we took a
total of seven minutes inpenalties and we had no stars of
(39:58):
the game and let me look up thebox score for well there there
was an assist on Nestoranko'sgoal oh a king it was it I think
it was either the hip or theback of Jeff Burroughs oh no
Kyle Burroughs sorry thinkingabout the old baseball player
Jeff Burroughs that played forthe Rangers yeah and uh Billy
(40:20):
Husso was the the goalie forthis game he played the full 60
minutes or 58 45 um he faced 32shots made 30 saves gave up two
goals and had a save percentageof a 938 and that was so like I
said it wasn't much they didstart off the scoring but it it
(40:43):
didn't take but three minutesfor the Kings to tie it with
Alex Tarcott getting his firstof the preseason from Brat Clark
and Brat Clark made a nice playon this I I saw this game.
It was a nice play and a secondassist from uh um Moverari uh
that was at the 427 and then toice it shorthanded Alex
(41:05):
LaFerriere scored in the thirdperiod uh assist from Alex
Turcott get a little far downhere the Kings did outshoot the
ducks 3327 um everybody was 0for on the power play uh the
(41:25):
ducks had seven penalty minutesthe kings beat him with 11 so
obviously there was some youknow little feistiness between
the rivalries there um the threestars of the game obviously I
gotta tell you I think this isone of the most talked about
young players not going to playin the NHL this year Carter
(41:50):
George he has been impressive hewas in a rookie face off I think
we showed the windmill save hemade which was I mean he was the
star of that game he's the starof this game you know the one
goal he came uh gave up went offwent off his defenseman I don't
even think he was on net it waswide of the net and bounced in
(42:14):
off the our defenseman but hemade um what 26 saves out of 27
shots and Brant Clark who we'relooking for another step up this
year looked good on thedefensive side and then you know
Alex Turcott is you know witheverybody's thinking might be
that fourth line center um Ithink well he's gonna be on that
(42:39):
line uh because with Perry outthat opens up a spot I I think
he might be the center or or uhHellanius possibly who knows I
mean somebody young could makethe team maybe unexpected I mean
in the future I and I don't wantto talk about it now but I mean
even Liam Greentree lookedpretty good um in some of these
(43:02):
preseason games but those arethe three stars kings win the
game three to one the ducks werewere competitive in this game um
but you could tell the Kings youknow they're just a step up from
the ducks right now and we had alot of young people playing in
this game too um because thesegames really don't mean anything
(43:25):
you could go three and oh you gooh and three and you could be
good or bad in the regularseason so it just depends so but
that was a good game uh for theKings and we'll go on to you
want to go on to your set secondgame or mine?
SPEAKER_00 (43:42):
I'll go to mine.
Okay um so the second game theducks hosted the Utah Mammoth
and this this game was a lotbetter game for us Anaheim um to
start the scoring off DrewHellison scored the first goal
on a wrist shot as in the at the1705 mark assist from Troy Terry
(44:05):
and Frank Vetrano and after thefirst period the ducks led one
to nothing second period MatthewPhillips you're wondering who
Matthew Phillips is right wellhe's you'll you'll hear you'll
hear his name again trust me buthe scored on a tip in to make it
(44:26):
2-0 Anaheim in the second periodat the 4-10 mark Hellison and
Lacombe with assist on that oneand then Beckett Seneca scores
his first goal the preseasonassist from Tyson Hines and Leo
Carlson this was just a greatsolo play from Seneca kind of
like he drive it he's he drovethe net kind of lost the puck
and then just regained it backand then put it uh and scored
(44:50):
behind on the Melko so that wasdefinitely good to see um so
that was 3-0 and that was at the518 mark and then Dylan Gunther
from the Utah Mammoth scores hisfirst of the preseason from Nick
Schmaltz and Mikhail Sergev tomake it 3-1 and that was at the
1448 mark.
And so now we had a 3-1 Anaheimlead after two periods.
(45:15):
Third period is when the scoringreally took off for the Anaheim
ducks with from people that youweren't expecting to hear from
on the score sheet.
Ryan Strome scores his first ona deflected shot at the 533 mark
assist from Terry and Lacombeand then the human traffic
traffic cone himself RossJohnston scored his first with
(45:40):
assist from Jan Misak andJackson Lacombe 51 Anaheim and
that was off a slap shot believeit or not at the 918 mark and
then the last goal of the gamewas a nice little uh wrist shot
from Matthew Phillips his secondgoal of the game assist from
Mikhail Granlin and Hellison tomake it 6-1 Anaheim and that was
(46:02):
at the 1427 mark so the theducks uh shots on goal it was
they won the 28 to 26 face offpercentage is something we still
need to work on we're uh we areat 40.4% 0 for 2 on the power
power play 25 penalty minutes 23hits nine block shots six get uh
(46:23):
giveaways one takeaway and thenlet's see for the let's see let
me get to the goalies uh petermirazak uh looked really good in
this game faced 26 shots 25saves um had a 962 save
percentage and played the full60 minutes and that was oh and
(46:46):
then the three stars we had uhJackson Lacomb with three
assists for three points DrewHellison one goal two assists
for three points and then theshort king himself Matthew
Phillips with the two goldknight and I I liked the way
Matthew Phillips played he youknow he drove the net got in the
(47:09):
right area and put the puck inthe net which is something the
ducks have had a hard time doingthe last you know seven eight
years really so but yeah theducks won this one six to one so
it was a great game on to youronto your second game second
game we played um PacificDivision rival Golden Knights
(47:34):
the Kings were outshot in thisgame 33-28 but scoring the first
goal like he did in his uh firstNHL game what he played last
year was Taylor Ward no not theleft fielder from the Angels
it's a different Taylor Ward umand that that was at the 506
(47:58):
mark of the first period uhgiving the Kings a 1-0 lead
assists from ex-Anaheim duckBrian Doomland and we're
expecting big things from himhis first and Liam Greentree
with his first assist and thenno scoring in the second period
(48:18):
we go to the third period andJeff Millot who right now looks
like he might be taking CoreyPerry's spot until he comes back
it's what it's looking like tome at least he got his first
from again another assist fromAlex Turk and another assist
(48:39):
from Liam Greentree so I meanbut I'm talking about the
Turcott had an assist in thefirst game.
SPEAKER_02 (48:47):
So they're they're
counting what they get in the
games it's not cumulative in thepreseason for some reason.
So now it's two to nothing Kinksum then I don't know how do you
say this Comec scored uh hisfirst goal from Saad and Lavoie
(49:08):
to make it two to one at the 838mark and then to finish off the
scoring Trevor Moore um gets anempty debtor at the 1858 mark
and the Kings win the game 3-1.
SPEAKER_01 (49:26):
Like I said they got
outshot 3328 um I gotta say it
it looked to me except for hitsand block shots they were Vegas
outplayed them but they didn'toutscore them so look to see who
(49:47):
was in goal because I don'tremember who was in goal this
game.
SPEAKER_00 (49:51):
I think oh it was uh
Forsberg um and he uh 32 saves
on 33 shots 970 save percentageum nothing against David Riddick
he was he definitely helped usover the last couple seasons but
(50:11):
forersburg looks like adefinitely a stronger number two
quality for us yeah so far andthat was game two for the Kings
yep now on to the last game ofthe of the week and it's another
ducks versus Kings matchup thisone was at the Honda Center um
mine will be very short uhbecause there was the ducks
(50:36):
didn't score we had no goals inthe first no goals in the second
no goals in the third we had atotal of 14 shots on goal that
yeah that's right a total of 14shots on goal the kings alone
had 13 in the first period umthe faceoff percentage 45% you
(50:58):
know a little a little bitbetter but still gotta be better
um 0 for 2 on the power play 12penalty minutes 15 hits 16 block
shots four giveaways onetakeaway there there is one
thing I did not like about thisgame and I hate to say and it
was against Anze Kolbotar thatI'm actually gonna I think he
(51:19):
should have gotten a penaltybecause he ran over Lukos Dostal
and there was no penalty and Ifelt like that was goalie
interference I did not get tosee the game so I didn't see the
play so I didn't even know thathappened Cody I I really don't
understand the goalieinterference rule like I
(51:39):
remember last year there was aplay that Mason McTavish had he
had the puck and everything andhe drove the net he scored he
had the puck and the ColumbusBlue Jackets player actually
really he's the one that pushedMcTavish into the Blue Jackets
(52:00):
goalie and then Mc so McTavishscored and then they gave him a
goalie interference penaltyright after it made no sense to
me but yet Kopotar ran overDostal and then there was
nothing yeah I I'll have to takea look at that and see what
happened obviously they do misscalls Cody just you know I I I
(52:22):
understand that and uh what's upwhat's up Kevin we have a great
episode so far wait till you uhhear the first part when I rant
oh you just came on I don't knowif he just came on but it's good
to hear from Kevin um so as Isaid um Dostal only played 31
minutes into the game and it wasit was actually it kind of
(52:46):
scared a lot of us becauseCallie Kling came in in relief
but I guess uh it was ascheduled change so Dostal was
not hurt it was a scheduledchange like they were it was
planned that Callie Kling wasgoing to come in in relief no
matter what in that game.
So that was good to hear umDostal faced uh 18 shots uh 17
(53:09):
saves had a 944 save percentageon with like I said a total of
3139 Cali Kling 12 shots he uhhe faced uh save 10 gave up two
goals had an 833 save percentageand uh mom mom wait do you agree
(53:29):
with the goalie interferencething or just something
different or with what my rantearlier I'm just curious yeah he
uh just got in usually listen toepisodes once they're uploaded
but it's more fun to pop in andhear you live no I appreciate
that Kevin we always love whenyou come in we always like when
you come in live too like thatyeah we we we do appreciate it
(53:54):
and looking forward to the drafttomorrow night yeah oh the the
goalie interference yeah see myall right the goalie
interference thing that's what Ithought I I like I said I didn't
even see it so uh let's get onto the better part of this game
um I I hate you you can hate meall you want I still love you
(54:16):
son um starting off the thescoring was uh Martin Chromiak
from Jeff Millot so you'rehearing a lot of goals from not
our stars in these games and theKings are winning games with not
the big guys scoring a lot sothat was uh the first goal game
(54:37):
and that was late at the 1826mark um so the kings were up one
to nothing and then no scoringin the second period obviously I
mean looks like Dostal's alreadyin game shape to me so um and I
I I do believe he's gonna be astud for them as long as as long
(54:58):
as they don't keep uh pissingoff the young guys making him
want to go away I think that's areally bad trait so I mean just
speaking as a fan of sports thenthird period Jeff Millot gets
another goal from Kyle Burroughsnot another goal that's his
(55:22):
first goal of this game no he hescored last game no it says
first if you haven't noticedLaFerriere scored earlier and
when did he all the all thegames are these are all ones the
lot one assist one goal hescored in the last game against
(55:45):
Vegas oh he did oh yeah so i i iI made that comment already I've
been noticing that it's notcumulative in the preseason
they're going game by game oh Idon't know if that's an NHL
thing because we get our uh boxscores from the NHL scores yeah
straight from the NHL so ithopefully should be accurate so
(56:08):
Millot scored from Burroughs andJared Woolley and one thing I
did listen to this game um andWoolley and uh Bruce Devich
played together and they'regonna be playing together
probably as the number onedefensive pair for the London
Knights this year and thecomment was they did not look
(56:29):
like they were out of placeplaying with the big boys so
they're that Millot goal thatwas a nice tip that was a nice
tip in goal I will say that itthat was nice it was nice I will
say that I think I think thelot's trying to be the you know
make that fourth line and I haveno doubt because he plays tough
(56:50):
too and you always need a toughguy to help out you know keep
the game running safely thatthat's what the big bruisers are
for put a little hurting onsomeone tell them not to do that
to your big guys your your uhstar players again so that uh
was that the 742 mark of thesecond period that Balot made
(57:10):
the nice tip in um making thegame two zero kings and then
finally somebody other than theother than Millot I believe that
actually is gonna make theopening night roster Kevin Fiala
(57:30):
gets a goal from Laferriere andByfield at the 1223 mark on a
wrist shot to make it three tonothing so let's go to the box
store real quick and just getsome details there and um Darcy
(57:52):
Kemper he played well they musthave uh he must have been off
the ice on a penalty that theducks had because he's missing
uh what forty four seconds heplayed the whole game 14 saves
(58:12):
on 14 shots 1000 save percentageum this game looked like a
little bit more in the king'sfavor obviously yeah shots and
everything else a lot differentthan that what first game even
though the scores were similarum that it looks like the the
(58:33):
Kings actually outplayed theducks this time because I can
tell you when when when we wereat the rookie face off and the
Kings won that game what four toone at the rookie face off yeah
it was two I can tell you two Icould tell you Anaheim I thought
(58:53):
played better the Kings eventhough the score was four to one
in a lot of that game.
SPEAKER_02 (58:58):
I think the Kings
executed when they needed to and
sometimes you know we I've seenus outshoot somebody 30 to 14
and we win 3-2 just because youexecute better.
So that does happen in thesegames they do X execute oh and
Kevin says the lot is surelycemented in to take Perry's
(59:21):
place to start the season.
So you I I agree with you.
And I think he did prove himselflast season a little bit so
anyways um so the Kings 3-0 theducks are what one and two uh
the ducks are one and twocorrect you know of course the
two games they lose were to theKings but like I said that
doesn't even mean anything thesegames do not matter they're
(59:43):
getting in shape they're tryingto show coach what they can do
see where they're gonna getplaced some of these guys are
trying to make the NHL club umdo we want to just talk about
what uh we have a game todayright yeah we have a game today
it's in Baker
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:01):
Um and everything.
From I I don't have the list infront of me, but I I did see the
the lineup.
It looks like it's all AHLplayers, pretty much.
And like players trying to makethe team, young players.
It's a very young lineup for theducks.
So I I I I guess I don't have itin front of me, but um, what's
(01:00:23):
your prediction for tonight'sgame?
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:26):
Um two kings.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:32):
I'm gonna say three,
two ducks.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:35):
Okay.
I don't know who's playing.
You know what?
Uh let me see what the time.
This game is at three o'clock.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:42):
Three o'clock.
unknown (01:00:42):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:43):
Three o'clock today.
So, um, like I said, it reallydoesn't matter.
It's preseason.
We're trying, everybody's tryingto see where they're at, get in
a little better shape, so forth.
And uh, we're going from there.
Uh, and then um, did you want touh talk about your your the pre
(01:01:04):
other preseason games other thantoday's game?
SPEAKER_00 (01:01:07):
Yeah, so the ducks
uh will be home against the
sharks uh Monday 929.
I will be at the game.
So if you guys are there, let meknow.
Actually, I do have a questionwith the new parking and
everything.
Where is actually the best placeto park?
I won't I do want to know.
Like, is there a good place topark for the game the Ducks
(01:01:30):
Homes games now?
Because we used to park in likethat one, like so.
If you're facing the HauntaCenter, like from like where
Angel Stadium was, we used topark like the very like that
left one, right?
Like right by the 57 freeway.
Yeah, where all the big parkingstructure is.
Yeah, where the parkingstructure is now and everything.
That's where we used to park.
So I don't know if there's isthe parking structure done.
(01:01:52):
I I said I don't know.
It's been a while since we'vebeen over there.
So I'm just kind of curious ifanyone knows where to park for
those games.
Um and then on Wednesday.
What?
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:04):
I I would say, you
know where we parked the last
time we went to a game?
Oh, like across the Yeah, weparked over there by the the one
brewery place.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:14):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:15):
You know, it's like
10 10 bucks to park there, and
then you can walk and you justget right out because you're
stuck in the parking structure.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:24):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:25):
I'd rather I'd
rather walk if I can.
I could of course your mom withher hurt knee.
If we go to a game, we mighthave to pay for the really good
parking.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:34):
Yeah.
I'll I'll try to figure it out.
I'll try to I'll ask uh around.
Um so that's preseason gamenumber five is uh on Monday
against the Sharks.
And then number six uh onWednesday, October 1st.
Um the Ducks will be in San Joseagain against the Sharks.
Um that one on Monday, I'mpredicting a 4-2 win for the for
(01:02:56):
the Ducks.
Um and then the sixth game, I'mI'm actually gonna predict a I'm
gonna say 5-3 loss for the forthe Ducks.
And then the last game onOctober 4th, I'm I'm just gonna
predict this now because uh nextweek we're gonna probably have a
long episode.
Oh, not a long episode, butwe'll have a special guest on
(01:03:18):
again for our now annually uhdivision predictions.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:24):
Oh, you know, um
well, since Eric is a Ducks fan,
just a thought.
Not to I'm sorry to interruptyou, Cody.
That was rude.
SPEAKER_00 (01:03:37):
That was very rude
of you.
Um God, you beat my team twicepretty badly, and then you
interrupt me as I'm well here'smy thought.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:45):
I think it'd be nice
to have another King podcast.
And I'm gonna throw it outthere, uh Kevin, would you be
interested in joining us?
We get to see your face, and wecould talk you and I can talk
about um well you could be withus.
What we're gonna do is try tomake predictions for the
(01:04:08):
standings and the standings, even maybe picking up our
Stanley Cup champion.
So let us know, Kevin, if you'reinterested.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:17):
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:18):
We'd like to, you
know, you're you've been a very
good fan of ours.
We'd like to reward you to comeon with us.
And it's it's all casual, bro.
You know.
Yeah.
We have fun.
I we'll try, I'll I'll try notto let Cody pick on you too
much.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:34):
Well, no, uh Kevin's
but a good been a great
supporter.
I won't make fun of him.
He's fine.
I like him more than I like you, anyways, because he didn't
rudely interrupt me when I wasdoing my predictions.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:47):
Well, I would have
forgotten to bring it up if I
would have waited, so I haveboth.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:51):
And you definitely
would have forgotten too.
So but um the last uh let mefinish this, then make it
finish.
All right, last preseason gamewill be Saturday, October 4th,
and that will be again at theHonda Center, um, Ducks versus
Kings, and I'm gonna predict a4-3 win in overtime for the
(01:05:11):
Ducks.
And then now you can talk.
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:16):
So, you know, um I
gotta tell you, I I know at the
start of the podcast I wasdreaming.
I think you're dreaming.
Hey, he's throwing out thegauntlet, slapping him in the
face with a glove for thisseason.
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:34):
Well, I I was gonna
predict it, I was I was thinking
a Kings win, but then you rudelyinterrupted me, so I I wanted to
go with something different.
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:42):
So, Kevin, is that a
yes?
I hope it's a yes.
We'll we'll we'll be in uh youknow, let us know if it's a yes
for sure.
Because I we don't want to counton you and then maybe you're
people can be shy doing this.
(01:06:03):
Believe you, if you watched ourfirst episode, we were pretty
much rookies.
It's not so much easier now thanit was back then.
But let's I'm gonna go to theKing's podcast.
Uh another podcast, uh, thegames.
Um, we already talked about theSaturday game because you asked
me to predict the score on thatone when we did yours.
(01:06:26):
Then on Tuesday, uh the last dayin September, we're at the
Mammoth.
Uh is that the one that's inIdaho?
One's in Idaho, one's in Utah, Iknow.
Um they're we're playing them uhwhat three days apart.
We're gonna go play the Mammothon Tuesday, uh September 30th.
(01:06:46):
I predict a 3-2 victory for theKings in that one.
And okay, we got a yes fromKevin, and I I Yay Kevin!
SPEAKER_05 (01:06:59):
Woo-hoo!
SPEAKER_02 (01:07:02):
So I'm happy, Kevin.
We get to actually get a seeyour face, and you get to share
some of that hockey knowledgethat you uh been posting on your
comments during our podcast.
We we want to reward you, sir.
Anyway, so then um on Thursdaythe second, uh they're also
(01:07:23):
playing the mammoth.
I'm gonna say they're probablygonna play a lot of rookies in
this game.
I i it's gonna be a 3-1 mammothvictory in that game.
I can't I can't go undefeated,can I?
I think now.
And then the last game, um on mysister Judy's birthday.
(01:07:48):
And the day before Cody'sbirthday, just to throw that out
there.
Um it's the Kings at the Ducks.
I'm gonna predict a 3-2 Kingsvictory in regulation.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:06):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:08):
So and that's the
end of the preseason.
And these preseason games aren'tcounting if you remember last
season.
You know, I I don't rememberwhere we ended up finishing.
I have it written downsomewhere.
But I'm not we're not countingpreseason games in that aspect.
Well, start of the season, we'llsee who can predict how their
team does better.
(01:08:28):
I think I won last year, didn'tI, Cody?
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:31):
And the predictions?
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:32):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:33):
Sure.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:34):
Yeah, yeah, you know
I did.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:39):
I don't I I I don't
remember.
unknown (01:08:41):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:42):
I know I didn't.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:43):
I I know I let's
just say I know I didn't win.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:46):
Oh, I'll have those
stats live next Saturday at 10
a.m.
when we have our special stuff.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:54):
Are you talking
about the the are you talking
about the division predictionsor the game predictions?
Oh then yeah, I definitelydidn't win that.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:02):
No, you had you had
somebody going to the Stanley
Cup final, so you won that one.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:06):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:07):
You had you picked
Edmonton in it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:11):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:13):
It could have
changed with just a little bit
of change in those victories.
Um Eric and I were right therewith you.
It was really close.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:21):
It was close.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:22):
And then we're gonna
have we're gonna have Kevin come
in and blow us all away.
SPEAKER_00 (01:09:26):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:09:28):
You know, so I mean,
it's all in fun.
I love I love doing thispodcast.
I get to do it with my kid, eventhough he's a a rival team.
So what?
I'm a hockey fan first.
We go to the games, we enjoythem.
We we banter a little bit aboutit.
(01:09:48):
But one thing I can say, uh weare so blessed to have the love
of everybody in our family.
Uh I feel blessed to have all mykids.
I can't imagine life withoutthem.
Even though they're all duckfans.
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:03):
Quack, whack.
SPEAKER_02 (01:10:05):
So other than that,
anything else we want to talk
about, Cody?
Or are we gonna get out of here?
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:12):
Uh no, like I said,
if anyone's at the game on
Monday, let me know.
Uh like I said, I'll be there.
Uh I don't know what time we'regonna get there because I am
working, but I do have the nextday off, which is nice.
Yeah, mama raised him right.
SPEAKER_02 (01:10:26):

like no mention of dad in there
at all.

SPEAKER_02 (01:10:43):

I I wanted everything else I canlose at that, I guess.
SPEAKER_00 (01:10:50):
Yeah.
So so, but no, I guess it Ithink we covered everything.

I think that'd be great to have, you know, two two kings, two
ducks on here.
You know, get get a little extrafun and everything.

(01:11:43):

SPEAKER_00 (01:11:44):
Yeah, the
hecklehole.

I I I I obviously
experienced it.
I was there, but I I was I goingto work or coming home when I
actually w I played it, and Iwas laughing almost the whole
time.
So it is absolutely funny, alittle bit more PG-rated than
(01:12:07):
G-rated, like normal.
Um, just want to throw that outthere.
But I really recommend listeningto the podcast.
And we will, if they allow us todo it again, we'll do it next
