A week of chaos delivered the most fun kind of hockey: wild momentum swings, unlikely heroes, and a scoreboard that wouldn’t sit still. We open with real life—on-call shifts, long drives, and coffee-fueled nights—then jump straight into the ice where the Ducks and Kings each wrote their own kind of comeback story.

For Anaheim, the road trip turned into a showcase. Cutter Gauthier looks every bit the natural finisher, Leo Carlsson carries himself like a veteran play-driver, and Mason McTavish keeps sniping through impossible windows. Ross “the Boss” Johnston shocked the room with a Gordie Howe hat trick, while Michael Granlund erupted for his first five-point night as a Duck and Nikita Nesterenko piled up four assists in Boston. It's it is hard to believe it's been eighty-five

Sometimes it seems like it's been 185, and other
times it just seems like it wentby so fast.

SPEAKER_01 (01:36):
Yeah.
Like sometimes it feels yeah,like you said, 185 or episode

Like it it it's been fast.
Um, but how how was your weekthis week?

SPEAKER_03 (01:51):
Crazy.

SPEAKER_02 (01:53):
I I know the feeling.

SPEAKER_01 (01:54):
I was on call this week so for work, so I
completely understand what youmean when you say crazy, because
each of the times the ducks hada game, I got a call this week.

SPEAKER_02 (02:12):
Yes, it is annoying.

SPEAKER_05 (02:14):
Oh yeah, I I would find that annoying.
Yes, very much so.
Yeah, I had a guy get sick, goby ambulance to the hospital,
and I had to ride with it was anAM driver.
Because I'm the PM supervisor, Iwas the only one that could go
out and get the car.
So I had to ride and do likelike five dailies with one of my

drivers.
Then go to Hollywood, pick itup, and it took me just about
two hours to get back to LisoViejo.
And it was like And then umyesterday I hadn't been there
very long and uh our LAXmid-driver uh got hit by
something flying across debris.

(03:00):
Yeah, I hit his windshield.
Um it was not safe to drive, sohe pulled over.
So then I I was there in about50 minutes.
It was uh over off of right nearHawthorne exit on the 405 north.
And so I get there, give him acar, he takes off, and I they

tell me no, it they told me itwas gonna be from 241 to 311.
So I'm it's like 130 when I'mthere.
I just had my book on tape on, Iput my head back.
That wasted an hour because Ihad a nap for an hour.

SPEAKER_02 (03:44):
Yeah.

SPEAKER_05 (03:46):
But then again, it you know, three uh three
forty-one came, four elevencame, and at four sixteen says,
If we haven't seen or heard froma driver, call, so I called and
it said the voicemail was full.
Then I called again and it wasbusy, and I called and I talked
to someone and shows, Yeah, yourdriver's uh just dropping

someone off at LAX, he'll bethere somewhere around four
o'clock.
So not a I I was there for twoand a half hours, and then uh
like I said, a two-hour driveback.

SPEAKER_01 (04:20):
Yeah, my last weekend was pretty busy since I
was on call.
And of course, the guy that wason call before me, he had two
weeks straight of being on call.
And he only got one total call,didn't have to go out.

SPEAKER_02 (04:37):
I go on call.

SPEAKER_01 (04:40):
Luckily, nothing happened on Friday night, but
then Saturday um I got twopeople that call that they were
out of gas.
So I had to go down there, putuh fill up their tanks, and then
do, but and I gotta do more thanthat.
I gotta like, you know, do aleak test to see it's like a
procedure, like we have to seeif there's a leak in their line

(05:01):
and all this.
I gotta relay their waterheaters and everything.
And then I had another customercall in the middle of when I was
doing everything, but theyweren't a customer, so I
couldn't do anything about it.
And then I was supposed to go tothe mall because they had the
Greek and wine festival there.
And I guess they're ourcustomer, and I was supposed to

(05:23):
go filter cylinders, and I calland they're like, oh no, we're
good for the weekend.
Um, and I was and like, hey,like if we need you, we'll call
you.
I'm like, perfect, sounds good.
So Sunday comes around, andnormally, like, I what I'll try
to do when I'm doing all theediting for like social media
posts for the podcast and allthe reels, I'll I'll try I try

(05:44):
to knock it out like as soon asI wake up that way I can just
enjoy the rest of the Sunday.
Um some or sometimes I'm justlazy, or you know, I'll do it
like sporadically through theday.
But I had a gut feeling I wasgonna get calls, so as soon as I
woke up, I knocked it all out,and it's like about 10 minutes
after I knocked it all out, Igot back-to-back calls.

(06:06):
And I had to go out and takecare of uh a couple customers.
Luckily, and then the Greek andwine festival people call me,
they're like, hey, we do needthe propane, we're almost out,
and we still have a lot ofpeople to feed.
And I was like, Alright, I'mlike, I got one customer ahead
of you, and I'll be right there.
They're like, okay, perfect.
I get there and they're like,and I'm starving.

(06:27):
I haven't I haven't really atemost of the day.
I was smelling all this great,like, cooked meat, like food
right there.
They hooked that, I can tellyou, they hooked it up.
They gave me this coffee, tastedamazing, and then they gave me a
euro, and I demolished it inlike about three bites, and the
thing was like like this.

(06:48):
They packed it and everything,and they're like, You want
another one?
I was like, Yes.
And I was like, don't I'm like,just don't tell my wife I'm eat
I'm eating I'm eating this.
She's like, oh well, you wantsome to go?
And I was like, Yeah, I'll taketwo to go.
So I got like four Euros forfree and everything.

SPEAKER_02 (07:03):
And I was f I was full after that.

SPEAKER_01 (07:08):
Yeah, they were they were really nice there and
everything, and then just beingon call this week too, so yeah.
I I it was nice getting a littlebit overtime this last week, but
enough about what what'sovertime?

SPEAKER_02 (07:25):
Oh, well, your salary, at least you know what
you're making.
Um, you you want to get intonews now?

Lexus Downey posted that IanMoore returned back to Harvard
over the summer and finished hisdegree, earning it in economics.
He's a smart kid, and uh, you'llbe hearing a little bit more of

Uh or, you know, in thisepisode.
So I forgot to mention this lastweek, but when the Ducks win,
um, they have a player of thegame item pretty much.
Like I think last year was thefireman helmet because of the LA
fires that happened last year.
Yeah.
This year, they're doing thecoat uh Coach Gordon Bombay's

Mighty Ducks jacket that he worein the first Mighty Ducks movie.
So that is the player of thegame item.
I do not want to be I do notwant to smell that jacket at the
end of the season.

Um next bit of news.
Um the ducks scored seven goalsin a game for the second time in
the 2025-2026 season.

In the week after the fantasticopening uh Wild Wing Mask Knight
giveaway, which you know, youknow, this one, um, the Anaheim

put it out there that they canbuy it on the team store.
The ducks sold 4,700 of them.
And this is a core uh this isfrom Elliot Freeman.
The orders came from all 50states in the USA and 12
countries, including Brazil,China, France, Hong Kong, Italy,

And then he also added, imagineenjoying the scenery in a
Vietnam of Vietnam Oh, Venetian,sorry.

Uh, Chris Kreider hasn't playedthe last three games um due to
illness.
He remains out.
And then um, this is adefinitely big spoiler, but oh
well.
Um by the time we're alllistening to this, uh, the news
will already be out.
But Mikhail Granlon um suffereda lower body injury during the
Tampa Bay Lightning game.

We're gonna save it for nextweek because we already had that

And then last bit of news, notreally news, but something I
wanted to add.
Um, but I feel like in and Ithink it's like the key at the
Kings 2.
Which I think arenas need morecrowd involvement in games.

So, what I mean by that, like,okay, Dad, when we went to the
Galaxy game, and yeah, see youalready know what I'm saying,
right?

So, and I and I love that.
And the Ducks used to do this.
Where um before uh Tim Kepp uhKepler, the national anthem

singer for the Anaheim Ducks,before him, I can't remember her
last name, but her first namewas Dawn.
And during the National Anthem,when they says the word Dawn,
everyone in the arena yelled,Dawn.
And it was a I love and I lovethat because you know, so the
crowd got involved andeverything.

And what I noticed when I waslistening or watching the
Nashville game, that the crowdgets into it with the the PA
announcer.
Like, and it it reminded me ofthe LA Galaxy games.

And it reminded me of the L Galaxy games.
Uh so I don't know if you peopleknow this.

was like, wow, I think hockeyneeds this more everywhere.
I'm not just talking about forthe Ducks or just the Kings.
Seattle, when I was there, theydidn't they had a little bit of
involvement, but not like thatlike that.

Like I I will give you credit.

And I I think all of hockey needs more of that.

Hockey needs excitement and I think I've said
it in years past, and not too Imean, we're just in between
Kings and Ducks news right now,anyways.
So yeah, but you know, on the shon a shootout, no holds bar,
they can do whatever they want.
They got one attempt, they coulddo whatever they want.

Yeah, have you watched any ofthe reels for hockey players,
and a lot of it comes fromEurope because they're allowed
to do it.
I mean, you got a guy doing apirouette with a puck on his
stick, comes back, boom, boom,the goalie has no idea what
happened, and it's an easy goaland everybody's y screaming and
yelling.

You want to make the gameexciting again?
Let the excitement happen.
Let it happen.
Um I really think that you knowthe shootout would be almost I
they're probably thinking aboutnot doing it anymore.
I mean, they're even talkingabout maybe ties again.

I go, because what do we whatwhat happens?
Get the puck, hold on to thepuck, skate in, skate out, you
know, keep changing guys outtill you get that one little
break and then somebody goesscore, but everybody's falling
asleep during the five minutesthat it happens.
Now I know why they do itbecause they're not giving the
other team a chance to score.

But if you can do whatever youwant, and if and like I think
we've talked about this inoffseason episodes, um like a
shot clock.
You know, you can't just hold onto the pure.
You get the pure, a clock startsjust like a basketball, you
know, they have a 24-secondshot, you know.

It would be hard for them to do that.
I I I knew I I get what you'resaying, and I totally agree, but
it would be hard to make thatkind of play in game because I I
feel like possession changes alot quicker than like basketball

change a whole lot in overtimeanymore.
You might get one or two rushesper team in five minutes.
Now, how many rushes do you getin a uh with five on five like
that?
You'll probably get at leastthree or four each team in five
minutes at least.

game.
It's a new guy.
He's telling everybody, youknow, tell me you love Corey
Perry.

One girl said, you know, I can'tstand Corey Perry.

And I mean, and he acceptedthat, but he was trying to tell
everybody, you gotta love CoreyPerry, you know, and people had
different takes, and he wastelling them, you know, you're
you're co-hosting this with me.
And somebody wins when he doesit.
So I gotta say that's a new newtwist on the uh post-game show

I'm kind of used to the way itwas, but I I gotta say I love
the enthusiasm this guy had.
He's gonna take me some time toget used to him.
But you know I I I miss JesseCohen still.

fighting him, like punching himon the ground and everything.
And when Marchand went to thepenalty box, he took Dolen's
helmet with him, and in thepenalty box ripped out the the
chin strap on Dolen's helmet.
