We will answer it live.
How's it going, Cody?
SPEAKER_02 (01:55):
I'm doing good.
How are you doing, Dad?
SPEAKER_00 (01:58):
I'm good.
Can't well, yeah, it's beenanother rough week, but that's
okay.
I I guess we both had roughweeks at work last or this last
week, but I'm happy I'm I'm heretoday.
I have to go to work and be atwork at 7 a.m.
tomorrow.
You have to be at work tomorrow.
Yeah, we're behind on archiveshipping.
(02:19):
So the supervisors and managerare all going in for you know
six to eight hours to um ship.
SPEAKER_02 (02:30):
Oh over overtime.
SPEAKER_00 (02:32):
There's no such
thing as overtime on salary to
borough.
Sorry.
No, I can take some time offduring the week or in the
ensuing weeks if I want to.
SPEAKER_02 (02:43):
Oh, just to get that
extra day that get that one day
that you missed off.
SPEAKER_00 (02:47):
Yeah, they don't
they don't expect you to work
more than 40 hours.
I I do anyways, most of thetime, because there's always
situations coming up, and youknow, it's a you know, it's
really a team concept where Iwork, and you know, it you gotta
be there for for the people thatI support.
Yeah, I know, I know Adam, it isjust lost wages, but I I will
(03:13):
get the time back, so that's uhthat's it's all right.
SPEAKER_02 (03:20):
Big Glenn, he says,
Sup, guys, how you doing?
SPEAKER_00 (03:24):
Hi Big Glenn,
welcome back to Royally Quacked.
So, how do we want to start,Cody?
You want to do duck news firstsince I've been doing king
king's news first most of thetime?
SPEAKER_02 (03:35):
I mean, I I'll do
yeah, I'll do ducks, that's
fine.
Actually, before we start, weshould have done this last week,
partially.
That's so it's my fault, but Ijust want to say happy uh a late
veterans day to our veterans outthere.
Thank you for your service.
Thank you for protecting us andmaking our country you know safe
(03:57):
from yeah.
Well, not just that, thank youto everyone out there for that.
SPEAKER_00 (04:04):
I I think we do our
poor veterans a disservice by
giving them what two days.
Yeah, it they're we're freebecause of them, yeah totally
free because the Patriots.
Oh, absolutely, yeah.
Uh they deserve a month like abunch of other people get a
(04:27):
month, and some of them what isit like two months, and we give
our veterans like two days.
I I just think that's atravesty.
It's not like there aren't othergood causes out there, but you
know, this country was built, you know, with the sacrifices
from our veterans, so we shoulddefinitely give them more.
(04:48):
And I hope that somehow, someway, um, the United States of
America will realize that we wedo give them a couple days, but
it's not enough.
If we're gonna give differentnationalities a whole month, we
should give our veterans amonth.
So amen.
(05:09):
Hey Adam, I I think you got thatthat should be something the
government supports and paysyou, and you get a month off.
All you veterans, though, notjust Adam.
SPEAKER_02 (05:19):
So, all right, let's
go into the news, Cody.
All right, so we'll get into uhDucks news.
Um, so Leo Carlson was named theNHL's third star of the week
last week with five goals andfour assists for nine points.
So the ducks players hadback-to-back uh NHL player of
(05:40):
the week.
So we had Dostal being numberone the week before, and then
Leo Carlson this last week.
SPEAKER_00 (05:46):
So that's a pretty
good week.
Yeah, that's shocking that it'snot a number one star for five
nine points.
SPEAKER_02 (05:53):
Well, that's I think
that's mostly because um Nathan
McKinnon had that nine-pointweekend last weekend.
Yeah, yeah, he had nine pointsin two days.
SPEAKER_00 (06:05):
So you know he's
incredible, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (06:09):
No, and I believe he
was the number one star, so I
was like, I get that.
Um, also, Leo Carlson is thefifth fastest player to reach 25
points in a season at the age of20 or younger in NHL history
with 15 games played.
Telling you what what he's doingright now is amazing.
SPEAKER_00 (06:33):
I I gotta tell you,
the step up from that kid is
incredible, Cody.
Um I'm impressed with the withhim totally.
Oh, yeah, other than thatfive-minute major, yeah, with
quotes.
SPEAKER_02 (06:50):
Um that was just
yeah, we heard what I said about
that last week.
SPEAKER_00 (06:55):
I I gotta say the
ducks have been totally
entertaining.
SPEAKER_02 (07:02):
So this is about the
the month off.
I've argued that point at everyjob I've ever been with.
SPEAKER_00 (07:07):
Yeah, I I I didn't
want to interrupt duck news,
yeah, because I yeah, I'm alwaysinterrupting duck news.
SPEAKER_02 (07:14):
Yeah, you are.
Um, and then uh last bit of LeoCarlson news.
Um, Leo Carlson, who uh at theage of 20 years old and 320
days, becomes the youngestplayer in franchise history to
reach 100 career points, passingPaul Correa, who did at the age
(07:34):
of 21 years old and 109 days.
Wow.
SPEAKER_00 (07:43):
So could Leo Carlson
become the greatest duck ever?
I mean, he's shaping it up tobe.
It's looking great.
Well, let's see what happens.
This it's gonna this is anexciting season.
I'm I'm hot hockey has beenupside down this season in a lot
of ways, and nothing what weexpected, which is why they play
(08:08):
the games because it you you youwould think they weren't ready
yet, yeah.
But they're telling us a wholedifferent story, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (08:19):
No, and this this
whole new coaching system and
everything, it looks like it'sjust it's making them it's
making everyone play better.
I I've been impressed, yeah.
Um, and then the Anahub Duckshave reassigned forward Sam
Calangelo to the AHL uhaffiliate, the San Diego goals,
(08:39):
after he sat out as a healthyscratch in each of the last five
games.
So I I mean I I want to see SamCalangelo up with the ducks, but
I know with you know Stromcoming back, Granling coming
back, I know spoiler alert.
Um, you know, and I mean RossJohnson's been playing like
(09:03):
better.
I would say better.
You know, he does have hismoments still, but I mean, you
can tell like he is definitelyplaying better this year than
last year.
Um and then, you know, likeNestoranko's playing great.
And I I've loved the way he'sbeen playing.
He just has that nice, likegreat, like bottom six grit to
(09:27):
him.
So I'm loving it right now.
I mean, it sucks for SamCalangelo, but he needs to be
playing.
Let him, you know, get playingin the eight in the AHL.
He'll probably get top sixminutes there, be playing, you
know, probably close to 20minutes a game there, and let
him get his scoring back.
And hopefully when he comes backup when we need him, he'll be
(09:49):
there and be playing well.
So, and then uh next bit of newsis Cutter Gaudi reached a
hundred career games, and I'venever seen such a lopsided um
difference between his first 50games and his last 50 games.
Are you ready for the stats,Dad?
(10:11):
I'm I'm hanging by a rope.
I'm not gonna comment on that.
Um, in his first 50 games, hehad seven goals and 14 assists.
His last 50 games, 25 goals and20 assists.
(10:32):
So in those last 50 games, hewas a little a little under a
point of game player, not quitethere, yeah, but still pretty
close for you know someone intheir second full season.
SPEAKER_00 (10:45):
So so kudos to the
little ball of hate for trading
for him.
SPEAKER_02 (10:50):
That that's probably
one of the best like moves, I
think, for B because none sofar.
I mean, probably draftingCarlson and then this.
There's a uh is it large, largeball of hate, or is it big?
There's a big ball of hate and alittle ball of hate.
I forgot who the large or thebig ball of hate is.
(11:13):
I I can tell you exactly who itis.
Ray Ferraro.
I believe that's what I rememberhearing that.
They were talking about that onthe on the sheet with Jeff
Merrick, like this last week orso.
SPEAKER_00 (11:24):
Well, he had um
Jesse Cohen had him on all the
kings men.
Oh, that's very interesting.
He's an interesting, you know, these hockey players.
Some of them, I mean, they'rejust incredibly gifted because I
mean he had a lot of info togive.
Well, he's he's actually abroadcaster, yeah.
(11:48):
So, I mean, he he and Jesse lethim just talk out the whole
thing.
I guess they were teammates, andhe and he told him, he goes, or
that they I think they room, they were rooming, and um he's
he would tell uh he toldobviously the the all the kings
(12:09):
men audience that you know Imight be the big ball of hate,
but the little ball of hate ismeaner than I am.
And he goes, When especiallywhen it came to the remote for
the TV.
So I just found I found himtotally interesting.
SPEAKER_02 (12:25):
Yeah.
So and then uh last bit ofduck's news is Ryan Paling uh
was sidelined with an upper bodyinjury that he suffered in
practice.
Uh, he did miss the last gameagainst the Red Wings.
Um, and there is no timetablefor return.
SPEAKER_00 (12:44):
Well, you know the
funny thing?
Hmm, I think they missed uh thehis defensive aspect because
they gave up quite a few goalsto Detroit, did they not?
SPEAKER_02 (12:55):
Yeah, uh, I
definitely noticed a difference.
I mean, it was also, you know, again, spoiler alert, uh,
Strome's first game back.
That was his first game of theseason.
And you know, he looked helooked rough.
I'm not gonna deny it.
Um, and then also in theInstagram Live, uh, Santana West
(13:16):
says, Let's go, ducks.
Amen to that.
Um, but yeah, no, I agree.
Like, there was his presencemissing, and I know he's a good
and he's a decent face-off guy,too.
SPEAKER_00 (13:30):
Yeah, so he's a
little a little bit more than
you were probably expecting onthat trade with for Zigris.
Yes, he's he's that he's a roleplayer you guys needed.
SPEAKER_02 (13:42):
Yes, no, uh, there
is no doubt about that.
It was just it could have beenpaling in another player, like I
know.
SPEAKER_00 (13:51):
We're not we don't
need I I understand that there
should have been more.
SPEAKER_02 (13:55):
All right, let's go
on another another rant about
this trick.
So but no, but that uh concludesthe the ducks news.
SPEAKER_00 (14:06):
Okay, on to King's
news.
Kuzmenko benched bots anyone?
Oh my god, I should have had thedun dun dun.
Yeah, you should have.
Um you know, I I he's had ahistory of being like really
(14:27):
good or disappearing.
And it seems like he's beendisappearing, I think, this
season more than he's been, youknow, that guy that helped the
power play be one of the toppower plays after the trade
deadline last year.
Um maybe it's just hey, dude, you got to get your game going.
Um, we'll see what happens withthat.
(14:48):
I'm I'm I'm curious to seewhat's gonna happen.
Is he gonna get benched todayagainst uh the senators?
I believe they're in they're inOttawa, right?
SPEAKER_02 (14:59):
Yeah, the the that
nation's capital.
SPEAKER_00 (15:04):
I believe so.
They're in Ottawa.
So I know there's been a lot ofnews about this next part, but
I'm gonna tell you right, rightnow, is is Cory Perry melting
the Kings fans' hearts rightnow?
I mean, comes back from injuryafter nine games.
(15:27):
He was a point of guy player fora fourth liner, you know, and I
know Cody, you had a lot ofyears of being a huge Corey
Perry fan, you know, and he doesthings that just not that many
people do as well as he does, and he's 40 years old.
(15:49):
Yeah, I mean, I know someonewe've had on this podcast has
been a hater of him, but I I I IEddie, I think your heart's
melting a little bit for CoryPerry even the last few times
I've heard you talk about him onum on the puck on Kings.
SPEAKER_02 (16:07):
I got you should
have heard what he said on the
puck podcast.
He told Doug, he's like, I thinkyou're right.
I caught myself cheering forhim.
SPEAKER_00 (16:14):
Yes, absolutely, and
I think he's doing that to the
city of Los Angeles and all theKings fans.
Uh, I'm surprised by it.
I hope it continues.
He has been one of the biggestbright spots of the season so
far.
So, you know, let us know, Kingsfans.
(16:34):
What do you think about CoreyPerry after hating him for 20
years?
SPEAKER_02 (16:40):
So, well before you
move on to the next one, sure.
So there's a podcast show thatyou're talking about me for a
bit.
I just saw that.
SPEAKER_00 (16:53):
Um, so the Adam, I
think I think it correlates, it
really does.
Sorry, Corey.
SPEAKER_02 (17:00):
I mean, Cory Perry,
Adam Broll.
SPEAKER_00 (17:04):
Um I'm taking sorry
Adam, I'm taking Corey Perry.
SPEAKER_02 (17:09):
Oh wow.
Um, so there's a sh there'sanother hockey show called What
Chaos, and just after the Kingshome opener, they did like a
little um like um like a touraround the LA King store, and
they they got like you know, notspecial treatment, but they got
(17:31):
to like kind of make their owncustomized um King's jerseys.
So one of the guys, um PeteBlackburn, he he was actually
one of the guys on the um thattalked during the the face-off
show for on Amazon Prime for thehockey.
SPEAKER_00 (17:48):
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02 (17:49):
So you you'll see
him on there.
Um he got a Cory Perry jerseywith the with the new alternate
jersey.
And he asked, he's like, Hey,how many of you how many of
these Cory Perry ones have youmade?
And they're like, This is thefirst one.
So he got he got literally thevery first Corey Perry uh jersey
(18:12):
made for the the Kings.
And then the next guy, um, Ibelieve his name is DJ Bean, he
got a Cody CC jersey, and thethe same third jersey, and he's
like, Well, how many of thesehave you made?
They're like, first one.
So they both got they bothpicked players that were it was
(18:34):
their the first ever the firsttime that they made those
customized jerseys there.
Interesting, yeah.
So and they did a full tour, they did one for the Anaheim
Ducks.
Like I said, it's a great showto listen to.
They're they're they're a lot offun.
So um, let's see, and then Adamsays, I was talking about hating
Perry.
You talking about Eddie.
(18:55):
Oh, you talking about Eddie?
I thought it was about me.
Not everything's about you,Adam, okay.
All right, you can continue withyour that that's not gonna go
away.
I know.
SPEAKER_00 (19:10):
So we were home
games last season.
We were the best in the NHL.
I think right now we're theworst in the NHL.
Away games this season.
I think we might be the bestaway team right now.
I don't know why last season itwas the I mean the two seasons
(19:34):
ago we were a better away teamthan home team.
Last season, home was awesome, away wasn't as good.
And this season we're back tothe switching it a back?
I I don't get it, but all I'm asbad as I think the season's gone
(19:54):
so far, we're not in a badplace.
I'm I'm a little shocked wherewe're at, um, which we'll talk
about in the recap of uh thestandings later.
But that's just I mean, cananybody explain why that
happened?
SPEAKER_02 (20:11):
You guys have the
second best away record.
Okay, but all but only literallyby a game, the New York Rangers
are eight, one, and one away, and you guys are eight, one, and
two.
SPEAKER_00 (20:29):
Oh, so it's one
overtime loss.
SPEAKER_02 (20:31):
Yeah, you guys have
one more loss, but yeah, they
can't win at home either.
Yeah, they're one you guys areone, four, and two at home, and
they're one six and one, but atleast you guys have scored more
home games in one game than theyhave done in like eight games.
SPEAKER_00 (20:50):
That's weird, yeah.
Well, now to my next thing.
Why are we waiting to signAdrian Kempe?
It's just gonna cost the kings.
I don't know.
I got about what 12 dollar signsafter that in my notes.
(21:12):
So why are we waiting?
I mean, other things alsotalking about Adrian Kempe.
Supposedly negotiations areheating up about time.
I mean, come on, Holland, getyour act together, and then I'm
seeing all this news about teamswanting uh Brant Clark.
(21:39):
And supposedly we're notinterested in trading him, so
he's uh I know a restricted freeagent, but I mean, look at Lane
Hudson.
I mean, he's he's not quite gotthe stats that he has, and um
Luke Hughes signed all bigcontracts.
(22:01):
I mean, why don't if we're gonnabelieve in this kid, let's get
him signed.
It doesn't have to be the ninemillion everybody else got, but
you know, give him six.
Yeah, sign him, let's sign him.
And I don't know, you guys canin comments let me know what's
you think.
(22:21):
I think we need to sign theseplayers, you know.
Jesse Cohn and God, how it wasit?
It was uh I can't remember whohe had on, but they were talking
about um, you know, if you wereAdrian Kempe's agent, would you
want to sign right now?
Because basically everybody bigre-signed already.
(22:46):
So maybe you'd want to wait andsee what the free agents, you
know, what everybody else iswilling to give him.
SPEAKER_02 (22:53):
Well, the only thing
is you if he does that, you also
lose a year on the contract.
SPEAKER_00 (23:00):
You know, if you get
the money you want, who cares?
True.
You know, I mean, the I thinkhonestly, he wants to sign with
the Kings.
I'm hoping he does sign with theKings, but if if he doesn't and
he goes free agent and goessomewhere else, you're looking
at rebuild.
Oh because Kopi's gone, Kempe'sgone.
(23:21):
You're gonna rebound, uh rebuildaround Clark and Byfield La
Ferrier.
You know, you you have some goodpieces that people would want,
like uh Dano's a good, you know, third line center.
You have you know, even Foglewould bring something, you know,
(23:41):
and maybe you could get allright.
You think he's he's gone at thedeadline, okay.
SPEAKER_02 (23:48):
All right how this
dad, if you guys are out of a
playoff spot, like things justwent completely downhill for you
this season, would you tradeAdrian Kempe at the deadline?
If in especially if you knew hewas not gonna sign with the with
the Kings.
SPEAKER_00 (24:06):
Well, okay, it
happened Matt Roy, it happened
um Gavrakoff.
I mean, if we know he's notgonna sign, I I don't think you
have a choice but to trade himif he's not willing to sign with
you.
SPEAKER_02 (24:23):
I will give you a
send and a third for Kempe.
SPEAKER_00 (24:28):
The human traffic
cone and a third pick.
Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_01 (24:32):
Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00 (24:33):
All right, you heard
it here?
I'll tell you, I'll tell youwhat.
The renegotiation on that.
Um, we will trade you AdrianKempe for Leo Carlson and Cutter
Gaul.
No, no, it's a fairer trade thanyou gave.
I know.
(24:53):
Could you imagine Leo Carlsonbyfield?
You have a one and a two, eitherwhich way uh would go.
SPEAKER_02 (25:04):
Uh Adam's, hey, at
least I give you a third.
Adam said he would only give youuh Johnston.
SPEAKER_00 (25:11):
Yeah, the human
pylon.
Yeah.
Sure, Adam.
Like, we're gonna buy that one.
SPEAKER_02 (25:21):
Never listens to
this because then if I ever meet
him, he's like, So you're theguy that calls me the human
traffic cone?
SPEAKER_00 (25:26):
I'm like, no, I'm
waiting.
I'm I'm waiting for him to likemake a comment.
If anybody ever tells him, yeah, you call him the it was him.
Well, you he calls him the humanpylon.
You call him the human trafficcone, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (25:41):
Same thing in a way,
although the orange and the
that's why I came up with it,and then hey Kevin, looking
good, fellas.
Hope you guys are having a goodepisode.
It was much it was a much betterweek than last week for the
Kings fans.
SPEAKER_00 (25:59):
I yeah, that was
true.
Absolutely very true.
So, well, let's get well let'sget off that and go to league
news, Cody.
You want to start or you want meto?
You start because it's yourfavorite uh former Kings player,
yes, capitals forward, PierreLuc Dubois, PL Dubois will miss
three to four months afterundergoing surgery for abdominal
(26:22):
uh adductor muscles.
Those are core muscles, if youguys don't know.
Um, yeah, we'll send you uh Igot a better trade.
I'll send you a lot and uh andhellanius for uh Leo Carlson.
Pass.
So, anyways, uh you know you'reyou're you're that's a core
(26:45):
injury, that's why it's three tofour months.
I mean, I don't wish any illwill towards any player.
Um, was it all his fault?
I I'm not even sure.
It was a bad trade for us, nodoubt about that.
I mean, he he played well, Ithought, for the Washington.
It was good for him, and Kemperwas in the Vesna race, so I
(27:08):
think it worked out, it allworked out okay.
SPEAKER_02 (27:13):
Well, yeah, you also
got what three million less per
year, and then uhwhatchamacallit and a what three
less million a year, and thenthree what three less years of a
contract.
All right, true.
Someone uh do sick 3805 says anyhypothetical trades between the
(27:36):
two teams you'd be willing tomake?
That's a good question.
SPEAKER_00 (27:41):
Yeah, because I'm
not sure we're gonna come to an
agreement unless you're gonnagive a fair uh my my trade was
at least somewhat fair.
Yours was oh yeah, my a trafficcone and a third pick.
SPEAKER_02 (27:55):
Okay, how about
this?
Uh Minti.
Oh scope, Minchikov, Colangelo, and Leno, and a first round pick
(28:16):
for Kempe.
Would you do that?
SPEAKER_00 (28:18):
No.
SPEAKER_02 (28:19):
Okay.
Was that at least a better fairtrade?
SPEAKER_00 (28:22):
That was that was
well way better than a traffic
code.
SPEAKER_02 (28:25):
Well, I I know that
one I was being I was doing a
joke on, but this one I was.
SPEAKER_00 (28:29):
But you're talking
you're talking you're you're
giving us a lot of defense andyou're giving us Okay, how about
this?
All right, fourth line player.
SPEAKER_02 (28:37):
All right, Mint
Mintikoff.
We'll do Vitrano first and RogerMcQueen for Kempe.
I think about that one.
As much as I would love to haveRoger McQueen, but you know
Well, you think about this.
SPEAKER_00 (28:58):
If say that it did
happen and he became what they
think he might become, you youwould have 1A, 1B centers at 6'5
and talented.
That could be that could bedangerous.
But what I would say for thefirst part of it, you guys would
(29:23):
win that trade.
One thing uh Kempe is better atthan anybody you guys have is
playing two-way hockey.
SPEAKER_02 (29:33):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (29:34):
I mean, if anybody's
close to being like Kopatar and
being, you know, that uh greatdefensive player, it's him.
SPEAKER_01 (29:43):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (29:45):
So and then again,
that that could that could set
you guys another step above.
Yeah, it's it that would beinteresting.
I would think about that one.
I'm not sure I would make thatone.
I I like Kempe.
I want to keep him.
I think he him, Byfield, Clark, you know, some of these other
(30:09):
guys are are okay.
Adam's making trades now.
Solberg, Strome, Prospect, and asecond pick for Kempe and Dodie.
unknown (30:19):
Doty.
SPEAKER_00 (30:20):
That that would be
the fighter you guys need.
SPEAKER_02 (30:23):
Yeah, not Kempe, but
Dodie.
I don't want Dougie's 11 milliona year.
Uh I I not Doughty, Dotie.
Who's Dotie?
SPEAKER_00 (30:36):
He's he's on the
rain.
SPEAKER_02 (30:38):
Oh, okay.
That's probably why I don'tknow.
Assuming that's what he meant.
Oh, okay.
I thought he meant just a shortfor uh Dowdy.
Okay, so I didn't know that.
Okay, so I I don't know who thatis, so I don't know about that
trade.
But I know Adam's a ducks fan,so I know he probably wouldn't
make a stupid trade for someonelike that.
(30:58):
Oh, Jacob Dougie, an AHLfighter.
Okay, uh, we also got uh uhother comments from uh Odin
33356.
Everyone's equal unless it'ssports or singing, and everyone
loves the same.
Yeah, so put the uh the clownson the left, the jokers on the
right, work together tosacrifice.
SPEAKER_00 (31:19):
Well, they they
actually did do that, didn't
they?
SPEAKER_02 (31:22):
Yeah, and then uh
dude said ha ha ha.
I I love it.
I hope you guys are having agreat morning.
Oh, we are man.
We're we're we're talking abouthockey.
I get to do it with my dad everyweek, so I love this day.
I love I you know, Adam.
SPEAKER_00 (31:36):
Uh uh, it a second,
it would have to be a first to
even think about that one.
SPEAKER_02 (31:43):
So for this one, the
uh Solberg, Strom prospect.
SPEAKER_00 (31:48):
It would have to be
a first, or maybe two firsts.
Because you're really you'regiving us a possible decent
defenseman.
Um I think he's gonna besomething in the NHL Solberg,
but Strome is a third fourthline center at best.
So I mean Kempe is a top 20forward, yeah, that plays
(32:15):
defense and penalty kills.
SPEAKER_02 (32:17):
Oh speaking of
Kempe, uh, I forgot who was I I
this was not me.
I've heard it on one of the Ilike I listen to too many hockey
podcasts, but they were saying, can you imagine for Sweden at
the Olympics?
Your top line is WilliamNielander, Leo Carlson, and
(32:38):
Adrian Kempe.
SPEAKER_00 (32:40):
Oh, they're gonna be
a force to reckon with.
SPEAKER_02 (32:43):
That's a deadly
first line.
Oh, I totally agree, andtwo-thirds of it is uh is Kings
and Ducks.
SPEAKER_03 (32:52):
Yeah, yeah, that was
it.
SPEAKER_02 (32:54):
I I'm like I'm like
that would actually be a very
good line because Kempe is verylike he's probably like the good
defensive player.
I mean, I think Carlson'sprobably better defensively than
Kneelander is, but I mean yougot a play driver with you know
Nylander and Carlson, and thenyou got the guy that can shoot
(33:15):
the lights out with Kempe, andhe can also play very good
defense, too.
That's gonna be a great if theyif that line hits, Sweden can go
pretty far, is you know, depending on the rest of their
lineup, but that's a pretty goodfirst line.
SPEAKER_00 (33:29):
Yeah, that well,
yeah.
Sweden's always a uh a threat.
SPEAKER_02 (33:34):
Yeah, all right.
We should probably get back toleague news.
SPEAKER_00 (33:37):
Let's go.
SPEAKER_02 (33:38):
Um, Ryan Nugent
Hopkins will miss about a uh a
week with an undisclosed injury.
They didn't say what, so we'lljust say full body soreness, as
uh Lou Amarello used to say.
SPEAKER_00 (33:52):
Okay, and the color
Colorado Avalanche have linked
inked goaltender Scott Wedgwoodto a one-year extension valued
at 2.5 AV.
He's playing great right now.
I could tell you that.
Well, the i right now, if I hadto tell you, I think the
(34:12):
avalanche or the and the powerrankings would be number one.
Yeah, they they look tough.
SPEAKER_02 (34:21):
We'll see if that
continues.
Yep.
Um, while forward, Marco Rossiis expected to miss at least a
couple of weeks with a lowerbody injury.
He's been trying to play throughit since he initially uh getting
hurt on October 18th, and thatwas per uh Russo.
And I know I know Russo works uhclosely with the wild, so it's a
(34:41):
really good source for if it'sanything wild for sure.
And if you want to knock out theif you want to knock out the
next two since they're kind ofsimilar, okay.
SPEAKER_00 (34:53):
Uh we got if you're
Montreal Canadian fan, we got
some a couple things here.
Not good for you guys, ofcourse.
Canadians forward Alex Newhookwill miss four months after
undergoing surgery for afractured ankle.
Oh well, you have to have if youhave to have surgery, that's
that's a bad ankle injury.
(35:13):
Yeah, and then also uh CadenGooley will miss eight to ten
weeks after undergoing surgeryfor a torn adductor.
Wow.
Oh, and you you get uh Mr.
It seems to be Mr.
Fragile of the Hughes family,yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (35:34):
With the players and
prospects given, a second is
warranted.
If if you want a first, lessreturn needs to be given.
I mean, I'm okay.
I I mean I I would say about afirst.
I would say is fair.
I mean, we are giving themstrome on that one uh this
(35:57):
trade.
SPEAKER_00 (35:59):
Yeah, it depends on
who the prospect would be.
Like Roger McQueen, then you wecould talk.
SPEAKER_02 (36:05):
You're gonna have to
throw well if you want right,
it's probably gonna be more.
But um, devil's forward, JackHughes suffered a hand injury at
a team dinner on Thursday night.
Uh, his timeline of return isnot yet known.
Wow.
(36:26):
All right, hold on.
Before we get into the last one,um Deuce 3805 says, anyone you'd
like from the AHL to be calledup to your respective teams.
Personally, I can't wait to seeGreen Tree can do it for the
Kings.
Well, Green Tree isn't on theAHL.
Uh yeah, he's still playing injuniors.
SPEAKER_00 (36:45):
Well, if if Cody's
scenario would play out where
the kings are, you know, they'renot gonna assign him, he wants
to go somewhere else, and we saymake that trade.
I think green uh picking upGreen Tree, bringing up, let him
try.
I mean, because he seemed thelast two years to be a little
(37:09):
more advanced than BeckettSeneca, and and just in the way
he played, he was one of theleading scorers and uh in the
AHL.
He had 119 points.
Um, but that doesn't meanthat'll play into the NHL game,
and I think Seneca's lookedgreat.
(37:29):
Um, but I'd sure like to seeGreen Tree.
I he will definitely be on theAHL next year, and they were
hoping to get a waiver, youknow, or put the rule in for
next year, maybe early, so hecould have played in the a hl
because playing in the uhjuniors isn't helping him any.
I mean, he can just go dominate.
(37:50):
Yeah, you're not gonna get thatmuch better dominating guys that
you're way better than, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (37:57):
So and I I honestly
wish that rule would have
started this year for the eachteam to have one 19-year-old.
Yeah, because I I I agree, like, and I and who knows if that rule
would have happened, we wouldn'tbe seeing Becca Seneca up with
the ducks, he would have been inthe with the goals this whole
time, and I but and and I and Istill think and I think Green
(38:21):
Tree would have been great, likehe would have been perfect for
this role, especially with thewhole uh yeah, because I don't
think he needed to be there, hedoesn't need to be back in
juniors, he's not it's nothelping his game, yeah.
Um, like but I mean it'sprobably not hurting him either,
but it's probably not it's justyou know making it harder for
(38:45):
him to progress a little faster, yeah.
Because he could have beenplaying with better quality um
competition and making himselfbetter in the long run.
Um so you so for you, who wouldyou bring up from the rain to
the kings right now?
SPEAKER_00 (39:09):
I'm not sure I would
bring anybody up right now.
SPEAKER_02 (39:13):
I mean, is there
someone scoring at will for the
rain right now that you wouldlike to have up?
Is there anyone that's like, oh,he's definitely playing better
defense than Cody CC is rightnow or Brian Dumlin?
I don't know how everyone'sdoing there, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00 (39:26):
Well, Doomlin's been
playing better since they
switched up, and then um theythey put those two back together
and they've played better.
So it might have been this theywere having system issues, so
they both put um they putDoomlin with Dowdy and um CC
with uh Anderson, and nowthey're they seem to be play
(39:48):
playing better as a team, sothey put them back together
again.
Um God, uh they're the theRainer younger than they've been
in years.
So you know, yeah, I Adam, if ifit would be anybody, we'd
(40:08):
probably bring up probably akill thomas.
SPEAKER_02 (40:11):
Glenn Godin's not in
the duck system, he's in the
king system.
SPEAKER_00 (40:17):
Uh, I don't know if
he still is.
He may he may have he may haveswitched.
I don't know.
We could look that up.
Why don't you look that up andI'm gonna give the next piece of
news?
All right, go for it.
So we regret to inform you ofthe passing of Larry Brooks, uh
legendary hockey writer andhockey hall of fame inductee.
(40:38):
Brooks passed away on Thursdaymorning at the age of 75 after a
brief battle with cancer.
Brooks dedicated 50 years tojournalism, joining the New York
Post in the 1970s.
Initially covering baseball, heshifted his phone uh focus to
the NHL and the New York Rangersin the 1980s, a role he has held
(40:59):
to this day.
In recognition of hiscontributions, Brooks was
inducted into the Hockey Hall ofFame in 2018 as the recipient of
the Elmer Ferguson MemorialAward.
He was also recently uh namedthe 2024 Co-Sports Writer of the
(41:19):
Year for New York State by theNational Sports Media
Association.
SPEAKER_02 (41:26):
That was a massive
it's sad because I I know he was
a big Rangers uh reporter, andfrom what I've heard so far,
like a lot is like he did notcare what anyone had to say
about his work.
He posted what he wanted topost, he didn't care about the
backlash.
SPEAKER_01 (41:44):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (41:46):
So um it's so sad
and to hear to hear about his
passing.
Yes.
Um by the way, um, yeah, by theway, Glenn Godon is part of the
Ontario reign.
So for the ducks, I pro I wouldhave to go with either Tristan
Lunau or uh Solberg would be mytwo.
(42:14):
He said, Oh, Cerberg or or orWashi.
I wouldn't mind Washi too.
I forgot about him down there.
SPEAKER_00 (42:20):
Got Gotten is gone.
SPEAKER_02 (42:21):
He wasn't there in
the first place, Adam.
You're the one that said he wentfor ducks.
All right, ready to ready to getinto uh game recaps?
Let's do game recaps.
All right, uh, I'll go firstsince I got four games and you
got three.
Let me pull sounds good to methe first one.
(42:44):
All right, so the ducks startedlast week in Vegas on Saturday
night, and we play the VegasGolden Knights, and we all know
as Ducks fans, we do not playwell against the Vegas Golden
Knights, especially in Vegas, and let's just say it didn't
(43:06):
start off very well either.
Um, I would say the firstprobably good 10-15, 10 uh yeah,
10 minutes or so, it was allVegas to start, and then the
Ducks really got their feettogether.
But uh Brett Howden got uh gotthe scoring start in this game,
uh, scoring at the 547 mark tomake it one nothing.
(43:26):
But then Frank Vetrano gets hissecond of the year assist from
Olin Zellweger and Jacob Truba, and he ties it on a tip-in shot
at the 1549 mark.
So we we are tied one after one,and then Leo Carlson continues
his tremendous season with theseventh goal of the season,
(43:47):
assisted from Troy Terry to takea 2-1 lead at the 1039 mark on a
backhand shot, and then again,Leo Carlson with his eighth of
season assist from OlenZellweger, um, makes it 3-1
Anaheim, and that was at the1650 mark, and that was off a
snapshot.
(44:08):
And then the third period wasnot a good period for the decks.
Um, Pavel Dorfev, or ZekalumPavel Skorodev, uh scores on the
power play his 10th of the yearto make it 3-2 Anaheim, and then
Caden Korzak uh gets his secondof the year, and now we're tied
3-3 after 3, and then we go intoovertime, and it was pretty back
(44:31):
and forth.
Uh and did you what do you didyou already look at this game,
dad?
Did you watch it or anything?
Um the Vegas game against theDucks.
I did watch a little bit of it.
Do you know who scored the gamewinning goal then?
SPEAKER_00 (44:49):
I don't remember who
scored the game winning goal.
SPEAKER_02 (44:52):
So if you had to
take a guess, who do you think
scored the game-winning goal inovertime for the ducks?
Or if you had a guess, I'dprobably say Carlson.
You would think Carlson, but no,Jacob Truba.
You know what?
On a very good play, yes, thatit was a very good play, I will
(45:15):
say that.
Um yeah, no, oh, you did go tothe game, lucky.
Um, yeah, so Jacob Truba scoreshis fourth of the year to get
the overtime winner.
Leo Carlson got his 15th assiston that play, so the ducks win
four to three in Vegas.
Um, Adam says Godon was with theducks from 22 to 24.
(45:37):
No, I remember him within theducks system, but I'm just
saying he's not in the ducksystem anymore.
He's he hasn't been like two, Ithink it was like only for one
or two years that Godin washere.
Uh, and then Adam was like, Iwas at the Vegas game, it looked
way better live than thehighlights showed.
No, I bet uh it's always betterto watch it live.
We all know that.
(45:59):
Oh I'm good, I swear.
All right, sorry about that.
All right, so the ducks gotoutshot this uh game 39 to 29,
lost in the face-off percentage.
What a shock! Uh, 55 to 45.
(46:19):
The ducks were 0 for 1 on thepower play, but uh Vegas was 1
for 3 on their power plays.
Um, six penalty minutes for theuh ducks.
Uh 18 hits were pretty close, 18to 17 in favor of Anaheim.
Anaheim had blocked uh 21 shotsto Vegas' 13, 19 giveaways uh
(46:42):
for Vegas, 16 for the Ducks, andthen 13 takeaways for Vegas and
five for the ducks.
But the ducks take the firstgame of the seas of the
three-game season series.
That's so funny.
They only play three times thisyear, and then the three stars
of the game.
Uh, number three star isdefenseman uh Kaden Korzak with
(47:03):
the one goal.
Leo Carlson is the number twostar with two goals, one assist
for three points, and the numberone star is yours truly.
The the big Truba train himselfwith the one goal, one assist
for two points.
So wow that there's your threestars of the game in the first
(47:24):
uh game of the week for theducks.
SPEAKER_00 (47:27):
Okay, so the king's
first game in Pittsburgh against
the Penguins, and the Penguinsjust seem to always have the
King's number.
I it's hard to remember.
I mean, last year I think welost to him both times we played
him, and even the year before, although I might be mistaken.
Maybe it's just I feel likeSydney Crosby has our number.
(47:51):
Um, but let's go to the scoringin this game.
Uh, in the first period, thefirst goal is scored by Tommy
Novak.
His second from Malcolm is 18th,and Witherspoon his fifth on a
wrist shot at the 848 mark toput the penguins up one to
nothing.
Just about uh what six minutesand ten seconds later, Anze
(48:16):
Copotar on the power play getshis second from Fiala, his
fifth, and Corey the ScoryPerry, his fourth assist on a
wrist shot, tying the gameone-one.
We go to the second period, andthen again it seems like it's
like another back and forth.
Anthony Manta gets his eighth onthe power play from Latang's
(48:39):
seventh, and Kavunan is secondon a wrist shot to put the
penguins up two to one.
That's how the score ended itafter two periods was two to one
or uh two to one um penguins.
But there again, there comesCory Perry with his seventh from
(49:02):
CC as third, and more is secondon a wrist shot with at the 449
mark, and we're tied two to two,and then at the 1152 mark, Kevin
Fiala gets his seventh fromDowdy's fourth, and Lair La
Ferriera his fourth on a wristshot to put the Kings up 3-2,
(49:27):
but that's how the final scoreended.
Kings three, penguins two.
The Kings were uh outshot 33-27.
Face-offs were 50-50 out of 54.
Each of them uh won 27.
And you if you know that uhCrosby's one of the best ever at
(49:48):
face-offs to be 50-50 with thepenguins is pretty good on the
power play.
The penguins were one for twofor 50.
The kings were one for four for25.
Um, hits were 19 for thepenguins, only nine for the
Kings.
Block shots 17 for the Penguinsand seven for the Kings.
(50:09):
That there's an area I think wedefinitely really need to prove
improve on is our hits and ourblocks, because that takes away
momentum of the other teams, andwe're not doing enough of it.
Finally, we won a giveaway.
We've been, I think, almost lostevery one of them so far this
season.
But um, the penguins out gave us16 to 15, and we outtook it
(50:32):
three to two against them.
Let's go to the three out tookit.
You like that, Cody?
Oh, that was funnier than itneeded to be.
I'm glad I give you humor.
That's oh that's my goal in lifeis to make people laugh and
smile.
Uh, Novak was a third star witha goal.
Perry was the second star with agoal and assist, and Kevin Fiala
(50:57):
with a game winner, a goal andassist, is the first star.
On to your next game, Cody.
SPEAKER_02 (51:03):
Well, Kevin says,
What a uh goal that was by Kevin
Fiala, and also uh Dusk 3805.
I'm hearing a lot of negativityopinions around because Kazmenko
by King by King.
Some fans calling to trade him.
Do you think it's valid, or ishe just a temporary rut like
Fiala was to start the season?
SPEAKER_00 (51:26):
Well, right now he's
on a one year, they're probably
not gonna trade him unlessthings went rotten at the trade
line.
You know, you might see a wholelot of guys go if we're not in
the playoff spot.
Um, and I think that the rebuildmay happen, but I I think
Kuzmenko was in a funk and hegot benched.
And sometimes that's the wake-upcall they need.
(51:47):
Coach called it has said, You'regonna not play this game.
We need more from you, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (51:53):
And and uh Duz also
said, out took it.
I'm using that now.
SPEAKER_00 (52:02):
And then Kevin, I
love somebody appreciates me.
SPEAKER_02 (52:06):
I thought I was
hological, I was not expecting
that.
Um, Kevin put I love c uh coups, but there are plenty of players
that deserve the scratch just asmuch as him.
Seem uh extremely harsh.
Uh, I mean, sometimes you maybehe just needed a maintenance
day, or uh you know, sosomething to reset himself.
Uh, can't expect him to produceon a shutdown line with more and
(52:28):
Phil.
SPEAKER_00 (52:28):
Well, see, that was
the first step they made because
he wasn't doing much up with thefirst line with Copatar and
Kempe, and then they moved himdown, and you know, they're just
trying to see if something canget him kick-started.
And I I bet you he getskick-started again.
I mean, he does a lot, he hemoves well, he passes well.
(52:51):
Uh, you know, it's he's in afunk right now.
He got just got slapped in theface by the coach by being
scratched.
And let's hope that just youknow, he's gonna come in today
and get two goals and an assistagainst uh senators.
Yeah, that's what I think.
SPEAKER_02 (53:06):
Yeah, so all right,
on to the next ducks game.
Um, but so the ducks had aback-to-back last weekend, if
you guys remember, they playedin Vegas on Saturday and then
had to travel back home to takeon the former president's trophy
or the reigning president'strophy winners, the uh Winnipeg
(53:28):
Jets.
I don't know why I blanked outon that, even though it's
staring right at me in the face.
Um, so the ducks get the scoringstarted from Beckett Seneca, his
fifth of the year, CutterGautier, his eighth assist of
the year, and Hellison's sixthassist of the year.
So it's one-nothing Anaheim atthe 718 mark on a wrist shot,
and then Leo Carlson on thepower play scores his ninth of
(53:51):
the year.
Uh Terry with his 14th assistand Kreider's second assist.
Um, looks like Crider's gonna belosing his Cy Young uh voting
with that assist.
Um, so it's 2-0 Anaheim at the1903 mark, and it stays 2-0
Anaheim until the end of theperiod.
And then Kyle Connor gets hisninth of the season to make it
(54:11):
2-1 Anaheim to start at thesecond, but then Beckett Seneca
again gets another goal.
So now we're on hat trick watchfor Mr.
Beckett Seneca there.
Um, his sixth of the year on awrist shot.
Uh Cutter Gaudier with his ninthassist of the year, and McTavish
his eighth assist of the year.
And then we go to the thirdperiod, and just to kind of give
(54:32):
that nice little insurance goal,Leo Carlson scores his 10th goal
of the year on the power play.
Uh Kreider with his third uhthird assist of the year and
Lacombe's sixth assist, and theducks end up winning this one
four to one over the reigningpresident's trophy winners.
Uh the shots on goal, uhWinnipeg had 24.
(54:55):
We had 21.
The again out we lost the faceoff 50 uh 54 to 46.
Power play was a lot better thisgame.
We had um uh we PK was great, held them oh for uh Winnipeg was
oh for four on the penalty, butwe and we were two for four.
(55:16):
Um penalty minutes was even ateight apiece.
Uh hits were pretty much even 21to 20.
Block shots again, almost even15 to 14 in favor of Winnipeg.
Uh giveaways, uh Winnipeg at 21.
We had 12 takeaways.
Um, Winnipeg outtook us withfive to four.
(55:38):
And the ducks take game one ofthe three-game season series,
four to one.
Um actually, Adam, you didn'tknow that that's a thing in
hockey about the Cy Young.
There's a there's a thing calledthe Cy Young race in hockey.
If you have more goals thanassists, it's a like it's like
you have a winning record.
(55:59):
And I know Kreider was like whattop five in the NHL with that.
I think right now it's likeKeith or Sherwood, he has like
11 goals and two assists becauseit looks like you have like you
know a winning record as apitcher.
So they I've heard it on so manydifferent hockey podcasts about
that.
(56:19):
Um, let's go into the threestars of the game.
Lukash Gostall got the start.
Oh no, I forgot to mention inthe last game, so we did have
the back-to-back.
Peter Morazzick played in Vegasuh for the ducks, and he was
fantastic in that game.
SPEAKER_00 (56:37):
He he was fantastic
in that game.
SPEAKER_02 (56:40):
I'm so sorry,
Marazik.
I should have brought this up inthe last when I was talking
about the Vegas game.
You played amazing, you kept usin that game.
SPEAKER_00 (56:53):
No, Sayani stays
with baseball, says Adam.
SPEAKER_02 (56:57):
No, I saw that.
Um, but no, Marazik, you playedamazing in that game, you kept
us in that game.
You should have been one of thethree stars of that game because
the ducks probably wouldn't havewon if it wasn't for Mrazic.
He looked a little shaky atfirst, but he really got in the
zone and looked really good, youknow.
So hats off to you.
(57:17):
He's 300 this year, so good job,uh Morazik.
But uh back to the Winnipeggame.
Uh Dostal um was the third starof the game, giving up the one
goal and had a save percentageof 958.
Uh Leo Carlson was the secondstar with two goals for two
points.
(57:38):
And Seneca also was the numberone star with two goals for two
points.
Uh, and then uh Adam put Peterlooked like an all-star after
the first period.
He really locked it down.
No, he he did.
Like I said, he looked great inthat Vegas game.
So uh, and that is it for uh oursecond game of the week.
SPEAKER_00 (58:00):
Well, I gotta tell
you, um I don't know if Quinn
it's it's all Quinville's fault, but the ducks are fun to watch.
So they were they they weren'tfun to watch last year.
I mean, seriously.
SPEAKER_02 (58:16):
So from what I heard
is like, yes, Quinville is like
the main person, but all theday-to-day stuff is all Jay
Woodcroft and Ryan, I believeRyan McGill.
So like the the the two so uhyeah, for seven years I I agree.
(58:39):
Ducks are are uh eight.
That's a good name.
I like that.
But yeah, the it's a completelike night and day just watching
this team.
Like last year, I like sometimesI was like, I just want to turn
off the TV, and now it's likelike what the hell is going on?
(59:00):
Like, what I'm like, I can'tkeep my eyes off the screen when
the ducks are playing.
And uh Deuce says, I hate thatI'm enjoying watching ducks
games and Coryberry play.
That's hilarious.
Oh, that's hilarious! I lovethat.
Oh god, oh, the comments aregreat today.
Oh, I love it.
SPEAKER_00 (59:20):
It's it's it's it's
been excellent today, and I
gotta tell you, um, if you're ahockey fan first, it's it's
okay.
Yeah, I mean, I like I I watchnot not just the Kings and
Ducks, but I watch hockey allthe time.
Yeah, I'll I'll have the Bruinsagainst God.
(59:41):
Who are they playing that game?
Was it Florida?
It was that was a crazy game.
SPEAKER_02 (59:49):
Well, mom says she's
even watching every game.
SPEAKER_00 (59:51):
Yeah, I got victory
plus if she needs it on her TV
now.
SPEAKER_02 (59:56):
Yeah, actually, I
think tonight's I I watch
probably 40 Kings games a year.
Well I yeah, I sometimes they'refun to watch too.
If I got time, I try I try towatch the Kings if I can.
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:09):
I try to I like I
said, I just love to watch
hockey, and you know, I'mblessed.
Uh my uh the Dish Network doeshave the NHL uh app or not app
but channel on it.
And I watch that a lot.
I watch on the fly a lot, givesyou all the recaps of the games
and stuff, and you get to seesome really great plays by these
(01:00:32):
hockey players.
I mean, and it's so much fun, especially when they do these
shots between their legs, and Idon't Even know how they do that
without tripping over it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:43):
Uh Rashad, real
quick, we got breaking news.
Um, the double star, uh JackHughes is gonna miss eight
weeks.
Oh my!
SPEAKER_00 (01:00:54):
So what happened?
SPEAKER_02 (01:00:56):
It was uh eating
dinner or something.
Yeah, it was it was after afreak accident at a team dinner.
Well, while you're doing youryour next game, I'm gonna try to
look further into it.
Um Adam says Coach Q is alsogiving these guys room to fix
their mistakes.
Before Q, they would get benchedfor a mistake, and this team is
actually getting uh actuallygetting to learn on the fly and
(01:01:20):
allow to play.
No, I've heard that, and Iagree.
Like, like there may I think wasit I know Seneca got benched for
like the rest of a period onetime, and then the very next
period, I think or I think heput him down to the fourth line,
benched him for like a period orhalf a period, whatever, and
(01:01:40):
then like the very next period,um he put was right back on the
line with uh McTavish and andCutter.
So, like I said, uh that's I'mokay with that.
You know, bench him for like aperiod or whatever, but like let
him get back out there and fixthe mistake.
And also, ducks are I, butcopotar is one of my all-time
(01:02:01):
favorite players, and kid justcan't stay healthy, man.
Hopefully, he didn't slice atendon.
I'll try to look it up whileyou're you're doing your next uh
game right now.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:11):
It's it's funny you
said that uh you know copitar is
one of your favorites.
I go, I got an Anaheim duck,it's one of mine, and I think
it's probably a lot of people'sis Timu Solani.
Yeah, he is such just anincredibly great hockey player.
Gun I don't know, he has it, hehasn't been he is he's in the
(01:02:32):
hall of fame, is he not?
SPEAKER_02 (01:02:34):
Who?
Um Solani.
Oh, yeah, him in Korea gotinducted up during the same
year.
SPEAKER_00 (01:02:41):
Yeah, um I I just uh
drew a blank on that one, and
then not just that, he's just asuper great human, and you know,
and he just loves life.
And he how can you not like aguy like that?
I mean, I just I I told I yeah,I one of my favorites, and and
and I actually have a jersey, and it was thanks to Cody
(01:03:03):
because he asked me, you know, what I'd want.
I go, I want a Slani jersey,yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:03:08):
And then Ducks are
right, but McTabish got benched
last game for the whole third, but he had a rough go that game.
I believe he did.
I will review Rhea's one of myfavorite, one of my favorites
all of all time, too.
SPEAKER_00 (01:03:22):
Oh, so so are we
having confessions on royally
quack today about you know otherteams players we really really
like?
Okay, so that's nice.
I love the dear.
I mean, you guys are you guysare hockey fans.
That's what a hockey fan canSydney Crosby.
I love Sydney Crosby.
Nathan McKinnon's fun to watch, and if you've never seen uh
(01:03:44):
McDavid play live, and you getkind of close to watching him
play live, you would be amazedat how fast he is.
Oh my god.
So, well, we're we're off on atotally new yeah.
Okay, Adam's even confessing.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:02):
Kelly Hurdy is is
why we're 32.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:06):
I did not know that,
Adam.
So uh that's awesome.
I'm gonna get to my next gamebefore we go too crazy and get
off on a total total tangenthere.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:17):
Uh um, too late.
It's it's recorded now.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:26):
Oh, it's funny.
Welcome, welcome to confessionsuh royally quacked episodes
where everybody can confess.
SPEAKER_02 (01:04:33):
So every week, do we
need to have like like a new
segment called Confession likeConfessions Corner or something?
You know, on Royally Quacked, orhow about us Cody's Confessions
or Confessions with Cody?
Just trying to keep the C and Cthing, but we'll work on that
later.
Um go ahead.
SPEAKER_00 (01:04:53):
So on to Montreal,
where the Canadians and the
Kings got together, and theCanadians have been playing
really well this season.
They're one of the surprises.
I mean, not a big surprise, buta surprise.
Uh, let's go to the scoring.
Uh in the first period, justwhat are you laughing at now?
(01:05:15):
Oh, we got a whole lot of otherthings, penalty box confessions.
SPEAKER_02 (01:05:18):
Sorry, that's that's
it.
That's it.
Adam got it, he nailed it.
Uh oh, yeah, go ahead andfinish, and we'll get back to
these comments.
SPEAKER_00 (01:05:27):
Um, Josh Anderson
scores his second, uh, just
before the end of the firstperiod from Hudson, uh, who is
13th assist, and Evans is secondon a snapshot.
And after one period, Montrealwon.
King's nothing.
So we go to the second period.
Joel Edmondson finally gets hisfirst from Brand Clark his
(01:05:48):
sixth, and Copitar his seventhon a slap shot at the 117 mark,
and we're tied one.
Then Quentin Byfield gets histhird from Edmondson as seventh,
and Kempe is 12th on a snapshotat the 417 mark to put the Kings
up two to one.
(01:06:09):
Kevin Fiala gets his eighth fromAlex La Ferriera's fifth, and
quite uh Quentin Byfield is 11thon another.
Boy, it's a snapshot kind ofday.
It's 3-1 Kings.
They're making it snappy, andthat's how the second period
ends.
And then Joel Armia gets histhird unassisted at the 11-08
(01:06:32):
mark to put the Kings up four toone.
Joel Armia has been a little bitof a surprise.
I thought he was just more of adefensive guy, but he does have
he's made some awful, awful goodum offensive plays for the Kings
this year.
I've been he him and Deneau.
(01:06:53):
When we picked up Deneau, I justthought he was another defensive
guy, and and he proved to be alot better than I thought he
would be.
So back into the third period,Warren Fogle gets a second on an
empty netter at the 1532 mark.
Put the Kings up five to one,and that's the end of the
scoring.
We go to the shots on goal,Kings beat uh 26, Canadians 22.
(01:07:17):
The Kings won the face-offs51-49.
Um, both teams were 0 for 3 onthe power play.
Hits Canadians 21, Kings 10.
We got to pick that up, guys.
Uh, we won the game.
We need to pick up our hits, andwe need to pick up our block
shots.
Uh, but we actually did win theblock shots again for one, you
(01:07:39):
know, maybe the second time allyear.
16 to 15 giveaways is whatkilled the Canadians 18.
The Kings only nine takeaways, the Canadian six, the Kings
three.
Let's go to the three stars.
And the three stars are Armiawith a goal, a second star is
(01:08:00):
Cope Copatar with an assist, andthe number one star is uh
Quentin Byfield with a goal andan assist.
So we can go to those commentsnow, Cody, before we go to your
next game.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:14):
All right, Duz put I
went to all the Kings playoffs
uh game, and it was hard not toadmire uh what McDavid did to
the Kings, and then uh he put uhlast year, and then also put
Armia's last goal was cold, andI hope to see more of it.
SPEAKER_00 (01:08:36):
Cold.
I've heard cool before, but notcold.
I like it.
I like the cold thing.
That's cold, baby.
SPEAKER_02 (01:08:45):
All right, so now we
move on to what a lot of people
were recalling the game of theyear, an early game of the year,
where it was the red hot AnaheimDucks versus the red hot
Colorado Avalanche, and this isthe game where we were gonna see
are are the ducks legit or arethey just frauds, or like, or
(01:09:08):
are they actually gonna be youknow, cont like not contenders,
but like playoff bound.
And I will say it it was a hardgame to watch in a way, but it
just I think this went to showus that Colorado is just better.
I mean, you got the probably thetwo fastest teams this season
(01:09:31):
going at each other.
Um, so I'll just go into thescoring.
Um, 28 seconds into the game,Arturi Lekinen gets on the board
for Colorado to make itone-nothing, and then Leo
Carlson gets his 11th goal ofthe year, assists from Jacob
Truba and Troy Terry to extendhis 11-game point streak, and
(01:09:54):
then it was just all Coloradoafter that.
Um, Gabriel Landiscog gets hisfirst goal of the season, and it
was his first goal since whatMarch of 2022.
So, congratulations to GabrielLandiscog on that one.
Um, and then uh so it's 2-1Colorado after two, and then the
third period, uh Martin N.
(01:10:16):
Jored on the power play uh tomake it 3-1 Colorado, and then
Parker Kelly scored on the emptynet to make it 4-1 uh Colorado.
What are you doing?
Um, trying to get my stand thestandings up.
Oh okay, interesting way ofdoing it.
(01:10:36):
Um, but like I said, this thisgame, the ducks struggled a lot
in that first period, but afterthat, they started to play a lot
better.
Like I said, you could just tellthat Kalra was the better team,
and I will say they were thebetter team, they played like
they were the better team.
Um, I guess it does, I mean itdoesn't help when you're the
(01:10:58):
ducks are going against whatwhen Calor has what two of the
top five players in the worldwith McCarr and McKinnon.
And McKinsey Blackwoods wasfantastic in this game for a
backup, or he's supposed to bereally like a 1B in a way, but
I'd say he played fantastic inthis game.
(01:11:18):
He really uh he really keptColorado uh in the game too.
Dostal played fantastic.
I I think there was like one ortwo.
Uh nah, I I wouldn't no, Iwouldn't say it was uh that's
the next game.
Sorry.
Um sorry, I'm thinking of theDetroit game, but um let's get
(01:11:41):
into the stats.
Uh each team had 36 shots ongoal.
Uh the face-off percentages werea little bit better.
Uh 50 uh 51 to 49, or sorry, 52to 48.
Uh power play, the ducks were 0for 2.
Uh AVs were 1 for 4.
Um, we did out hit them 26 to16.
(01:12:02):
We had 19 block shots to their13, 16 giveaways to their 12,
and uh we outtook them um sevento six, and the ducks uh lose
the first game of the seasonseries to the Colorado Avalanche
4 to 1.
The three stars of the game isof course gonna be all Colorado.
Um, number three was the numberuh number three stars Arturi
(01:12:25):
Lekinen with one goal, oneassist for two points, and then
McKinnon was the number two starwith three assists for three
points, and then Scott Wedgewoodwas the number one star, not a
shocker, uh, with the one goalagainst average and a nine
seventy-two save percentage.
Like I said, just it's an easythe the Colorado really proved
(01:12:47):
to us like they were the betterteam.
Um, and and and I already knewthat going in.
I had my hopes.
I mean, as every you know, youknow, hopeful fan right now.
So, but I knew this was going tobe a very like telling game of
where the ducks are at.
And it just this game showed uslike yes, the ducks are a lot
(01:13:10):
better, and that they could makea good push to get into the
playoffs this year, but it justtells you they're probably not
like at that like Stanley Cupcontender stage yet.
And then um, let's see.
Oh, mom says, uh, I like Kopitarand Dowdy.
And then Adam, I think he wasmaking sure sure his bread
(01:13:32):
matches his team colors.
What was that?
I'm confused about that one.
I might I must have forgotsomething.
And then um Deuce asked, whatchanges do you think the ducks
need to make when they meet theAves again?
SPEAKER_00 (01:13:51):
Um kidnap McKinnon.
SPEAKER_02 (01:13:57):
Yeah, um, I would I
would just say one, we can't be
taking the stupid penalties.
You know, I believe we had let'ssee, I mean, just yeah, oh the
the comb one for the two minuteson the goalie interference.
We can't be doing the delay ofgame puck over glass.
(01:14:19):
Gotta keep them away from thetheir power play.
Uh beard, uh oh, oh, messingwith oh, when you're playing
with your standings thing.
Um I I would say just be better,be better defensively.
You know, I I I still think theyou know the kids are still
getting used to playing, likeIan Moore is still pretty new.
(01:14:42):
You know, I just think overall, like we need our offense to be a
little bit better.
So uh that's those not reallymuch of changes, just I think
just more growing as a team andgetting better is what the ducks
need in that kind of situation.
So uh you can go on to your yourlast game.
SPEAKER_00 (01:15:00):
Well, the last game
we go to Toronto.
What dun dun dun dun dun dun,and I guess fortunately for us,
uh no Austin Matthews.
So that really didn't help inthe first period for us because
Bobby McMahon scores his fifthunassisted on a wrist shot at
(01:15:23):
the 806 mark, one-nothingToronto.
Then John Tavares, who seems tobe you know, taking he took the
number one C spot, and he getshis tenth from uh Ekman Larson,
his tenth, and nice his 16th atthe 1639 mark on another wrist
(01:15:45):
shot to put Toronto up two tonothing after the first period.
In the second period, look likeWarren Fogle's start starting to
get out of the funk he's been onall season.
He gets his third from Dowdy asfifth, and Anderson is third on
another wrist shot at the 651mark, and it's now two to one.
(01:16:09):
Toronto.
Kevin Fiala gets his ninth fromByfield as 12th, and Cece is
fourth to tie the game 2-2 onanother wrist shot at the 1541
mark.
But John Teferis strikes againlate in the second period and
gets his 11th from Nylander, his17th, and Nyes is 17th.
(01:16:32):
Hey, we finally got a backhandshot, something different, at
the 17-6 uh 17-16 mark to putToronto up 3-2, and that's how
the second period ended.
Then the the kid with the newcontract this year, Alex
LeFerrier gets his fourth fromClark as seventh, and Doomlin is
(01:16:53):
second on a tip in to tie thescore three-three.
Then that's how it ends in thethird period.
But we go to the overtime, andfinally, 35 seconds in, Byfield
wins the game with his fourthfrom Dowdy as sixth, and Kempe
is 13th.
(01:17:16):
Kings beat Toronto four tothree.
Let's go to the stats.
So went a little too far there.
There we go.
(01:17:41):
So basically, they got threegoals on 15 shots.
Not a great percentage.
You think you lose 72 to 28, youwouldn't win the game, but
somehow the Kings did.
Um, Kings were 0 for 2 on the inthe power play.
(01:18:04):
And um nice thing is we onlygave Toronto one power play,
which is one reason we've beenlosing games, so they were 0 for
1.
Hits 26 for Toronto, 14 for theKings.
Blocks 20 Toronto, 7 for theKings.
Giveaways tied at 18, and we wonthe takeaway battle three to
(01:18:27):
two.
Let's go to the three stars.
I can bet you I can tell youwithout looking who the number
one star was.
Number three star was uh AlexLaFerrier with a goal, second
star to Tavares with two goals, and the number one star for the
second game in a row, QuentinByfield with a goal and assist.
(01:18:48):
So if Byfield can start heatingup, because I don't know if you
remember, almost put the last 10years, it would be or maybe not
quite that long, six years.
It's been Kempe, Copitar, andDowdy out to start uh overtime.
It's typically Byfield, Kempe, and I would guess Dowdy now.
(01:19:12):
And Byfield is starting to pickit up.
So the Kings went uh two and onethis week, so that was good.
SPEAKER_02 (01:19:24):
Yep.
Uh, we got a comment in on theInstagram live.
OC Steve Diaz says, Morning,fellas.
Morning to you, Steve.
How you doing?
All right, and then we'll go tothe last game of the week for
the ducks.
The ducks uh were in the middleof their little road trip.
Uh, I think it was it.
(01:19:45):
We play Colorado, then now we'replaying Detroit.
Uh, so the ducks will concludetheir season series against
Detroit this game.
Um, I'm gonna just go right intothe scoring, but Mort Sider gets
his second goal of the year onthe power play to make it
one-nothing at the 557 mark.
Um Cutter Cody uh gets back onthe scoring with his 12th goal
(01:20:09):
of the year.
Um, so now we're tied 1-1, andassists are from Beckett Seneca,
his sixth, and Jacob Truba hiseighth, and that's at the 735
mark.
But every time the ducks seem toclaw back, uh Detroit scores
again.
Uh Michael Rosmuson hit gets hissecond of the year at the 1242
mark to make it 2-1 Detroit.
(01:20:31):
And then Chris Kreider gets his10th of the year to tie it up uh
2-2 at the 1454 mark.
Uh Lacombe got his seventhassist of the year, and Drew
Hellison got his seventh assistof the year, and then Axel
Sandine Pelica gets his secondof the year for Detroit to take
a 3-2 lead.
(01:20:52):
And that was all in the secondperiod, by the way.
All those scoring, so it's 3-2Detroit going into the third,
and then John Gibson actuallygot hurt or something this game
because in the third period, CamTalbot came in to relief John
Gibson.
I know there's a littlecollision, I they didn't really
(01:21:12):
show much of it.
Um, I think someone just likelost an edge and just skated and
and I think collided withGibson, and so he because he
didn't come out for the thirdperiod.
So um, so Calbut Talbot CamTalbot came in for uh Gibson in
the third.
Um, but Alex de Brinkett, uh 50seconds into the third period on
(01:21:36):
the power play, um, gets hisfifth of the year.
God, uh if there's anyone I wishwe can get on the ducks, just so
we don't have to play againsthim, it's probably Alex de
Brinkett.
I want to say he has like 40points in 20 games against the
ducks in his career.
He's a duck killer.
That's the definition of a duckkiller, is just Alex de
(01:21:58):
Brinkett.
Um, and then uh Michael Granlinin his first game back after his
injury gets his third of thisyear to make it four three
Detroit.
Ian Moore got his first assistof the year, and Strome, his
first game of the season, gothis first point of the year with
assist, so it's four threeDetroit, and then uh Dylan
(01:22:20):
Larkin gets his tenth of theyear to make it five three
Detroit, and then Alex DeBrinkett on the power play, or
sorry, not on the power play, and got an empty netter to score
his second goal of the game, hissixth of the year, and Detroit
wins this one six to three.
So they got uh the John Gibsonrevenge game kind of kind of
(01:22:42):
happened, wasn't there for theend of it, but uh he played he
was playing well.
Uh the shots on goal 33 to 28.
The faceoffs were pretty even, but the ducks barely edged them
in uh in the face-off 51 to 49.
Uh power play, the ducks were 0for 3, and the red wings were 2
(01:23:06):
for 4.
So we gotta clean that up, guys.
Uh penalty minutes 24 to 22 infavor and ducks, sadly.
Um, hits 21 to 16 for the ducks.
Uh block shots.
Detroit had 17 to the ducks, 14giveaways, 20 giveaways for the
red wings, 12 for the ducks, andthen seven takeaways for Detroit
(01:23:27):
to five for Anaheim, and thatconcludes the season series
against Detroit.
Each team winning one game each.
Um, but the penalty minutes wasjust there was a lot of
penalties called in this game.
I believe on the Alex deBrinkett goal.
(01:23:47):
I can't remember which goal itwas.
I think I want to say it was theAlex Debrin goal in the third
period on the power play.
The refs were just callingridiculous penalties, like Chris
Kreider just grabbed someone, and the guy just went down like
a ragdoll, and he he it shouldhave been embellishment instead
of a penalty on Chris Kreider, and then they score like
instantly off the power play.
(01:24:08):
It like I said, the the refswere just they were calling
everything for the ducks andreally not much for the ducks
because I saw a lot lot worseplays that weren't called, but
this literally looked like theold like Red Wings ducks games
like from the early 2000s whenthey were playing in the
(01:24:29):
playoffs, like a lot of scrumsafter the whistle and everything
like that.
It was it was I like to see thatkind of fight back in the ducks,
especially against a formerrival like that.
Like, I know a lot of our newducks fans, like they'd never
think that the Red Wings werethe ducks rival, but for me,
they were a rival back then.
So, um, but yeah, that concludesuh that game.
(01:24:53):
Let me go with the three stars.
Uh Lucas Raymond was the thirdstar with two assists.
Uh Mort Sider was the number twostar with one goal, one assist.
And then the duck killerhimself, Alex to Brinkett, was
the number one star with twogoals, one assist for three
points.
And we do have a comment frommom.
The ducks are going to have tofind a new groove having Strome
(01:25:14):
and Granlin.
It may take a couple of games, and I think it's gonna take
Strome a couple of games to getback into the groove, too.
SPEAKER_00 (01:25:21):
Because I mean he he
just played his first game, so
so it must be duck season inDetroit, huh?
SPEAKER_02 (01:25:28):
No, just uh no, just
for uh Alex to brink it.
It's not rabbit season, it'sduck season.
Well, I hope it's always duckseason because that means
they're gonna be winning.
It's duck season.
I know what you're saying, butI'm saying it in a different
way.
I yeah, you want to twist it.
(01:25:50):
Okay, that's all right.
I'm twisting it.
So, all right, you want to getinto the NHL standings?
Let's go to the EasternConference first.
All right, you want you uh youwant me to knock out one
division, you get the other?
Yeah, are we just like are weare we doing it by division or
are we doing it like forplayoffs?
(01:26:11):
Like if playoffs were to happen.
SPEAKER_00 (01:26:13):
I just the records
right now.
I mean, we could you know it'sit's too early.
Let's get to throughThanksgiving and then we can
talk about playoffs.
Okay, yeah, because thattypically, if you're not a
playoff team by Thanksgiving, you're not going to be.
Of course, Edmonton Oilersproved that to be wrong last
couple years, I think.
SPEAKER_02 (01:26:31):
Um so I'll but it's
that's I'll knock out the I'll
knock out the Atlantic.
Um, so number one in theAtlantic right now is the
Montreal Canadiens and 17 gamesplayed, they have 22 points.
The record is 10, 5, and 2 witha 647 points percentage.
Uh, number two is the OttawaSenators, 18 games played with
(01:26:53):
22 points, they're 9, 5, and 4with a 6-11 points percentage.
Uh the Boston Bruins are inthird place in the Atlantic.
All right now, with 19 gamesplayed, they're 11-8-0 with 22

(01:27:14):
The Detroit Red Wings in 17games played, they have 20
points.
They're 10-7-0, they have a 588points percentage.
The Florida Panthers are infifth place with 17 games

points percentage.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are insixth place, 16 games played, 18
(01:27:41):

number seven is the your theyeah, the Toronto Maple Leafs,
18 games played, 18 points,they're 8, 8, and 2, and they're
at NHL 500.
And then in last place, oops, Ijust closed my standings.
(01:28:05):
Um, they're seven and 17 gamesplayed, 14 points, they're 5, 8,
and 4, and they're the one teamin the Eastern Conference that
have a below five uh below a 500points percentage at 412.
SPEAKER_00 (01:28:25):
Okay, so let's go to
the metro.
And everybody in the metro is500 or higher in point
percentage, but let's go to thecurrent standings at not
including any games being playedtoday.
The New Jersey Devils are infirst place with 25 points.
They have 12 wins, four losses,or they're 12-4-1, 735 point
(01:28:50):
percentage.
Carolina Hurricanes are insecond place, they have 24
points, they're 12, 5, and 0 fora 706 point percentage.
The surprise Pittsburgh PenguinPenguins, and though each of
those teams have played 17games.
The penguins have played 18games, they have 22 points,
(01:29:13):
they're 9-5 and 4 for a 6-11point percentage.

(01:29:36):
3 for 21 points and a 6-18points percentage.
Um, the New York Ducks haveplayed 18 games, and they're
9-7-2.
No, 20% they can't be the NewYork Ducks because there's no
former ducks really playing onthe team.
I know, but I just thought I'dthrow because you're gonna say
the Anaheim Rangers.
(01:29:58):
No, it's the the New York Ducksof Anaheim, New York Ducks of
Anaheim.
There you go.
Um, and the Rangers have a 556point percentage.
The Columbus Blue Jackets in 17games are 9-7-1 for 19 points
and a 559 point percentage.
The Washington Capitals, 17games.
(01:30:20):
They're they were number one inthe Eastern Conference last
year.
They're eighth in the metro, butthey're up they eight eight and
one for 17 points and a 500 uhpoints percentage.
The east is obvious, we'reobviously the west is uh getting
beat up by the east.
(01:30:40):
Obviously.
Yeah.
They only have one team, oneteam under 500 in the whole uh
East Conference.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And the Eastern Conference.
SPEAKER_02 (01:30:52):
So all right.
We'll move into the central.
Colorado's number one in thecentral, 18 games played.
They're 12 1 and 5 for 29 pointswith an 806 points percentage.
Dallas Stars are in second, 18games played.
Sorry, with uh the record of 114 and 3 for 25 points with a 694
(01:31:17):
points percentage.
The Utah Mammoth are in third,18 games played, 21 points, 10
7-1 record for a 583 pointspercentage.
The Winnipeg Jets in 17 games,20 points.
They're 10 7 0 for 588 pointspercentage.
Uh the Chicago Blackhawks are infifth in the central 17 games
(01:31:39):
played.
They're 8 5 4, 20 game, uh 20points with a 588 uh points
percentage.
The Minnesota Wild, 18 gamesplayed, they're 7, 7, and 4 for
18 points, and they're NHL 500and points.
Um the uh St.
Louis Blues, 18 games played,they're 6, 8, and 4, 16 points,
(01:32:01):
and they're below NHL 500 at444.
And then the Nashville Predatorsare in last in the central 19
games played, 6, 9, and 4, 16points for a 421 points
percentage.
SPEAKER_00 (01:32:18):
Now to the Pacific,
the Anaheim Ducks have played 17
games, they're 11 5 and 1 for 23points and 676 uh point uh point
percentage.
Get this Southern California oneand two in the Pacific, the
(01:32:39):
Kings 18 games, 9-5 and 4, 22points for a 6-11 point
percentage.
Then the surprise Seattle Krakenin 17 games there, 8 4 and 5 for
21 points for a 6-18 pointspercentage, then the dreaded and
hated Edmonton Oilers in 19games or 8 7 and 4 for 20 points
(01:33:03):
and a 526 points percentage.
Then I'm not gonna say what Iwant to say, but the Golden
Knights 16 games, 7-4 and 5, 19points for a 594 points
percentage, and the surprisingSan Jose Sharks in sixth, 18
games, 8, 7, and 3, 19 points, a528 points percentage, then the
(01:33:29):
Vancouver Canucks in 19 games or8-9 and 2 for 18 points and a
474 save percentage.
Then probably I think the worstteam in hockey right now is the
Calgary Flames, 19 games, 5, 12,and 2, 12 points, 316 points
percentage.
(01:33:51):
Wow, those are the standings inhockey right now.
Very surprising.
There's a lot of teams, and I'msure no one expected the Kings
and Ducks to be, or the Ducksand Kings actually to be one and
two, and the Kraken three.
Yeah, I can't I can't say I'msurprised that Colorado is as
doing as well as they are.
(01:34:13):
Yeah, but I mean the EdmontonOilers, they're they're either
up or down right now.
I mean, I guess they're gonnahave that same slow start and
hopefully not not not beat us inthe playoffs this year.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:28):
They'll they'll make
it to either second and third,
and then somehow still play theKings in the playoffs in the
first round.
SPEAKER_00 (01:34:35):
Yeah, we'll see.
All right, and who knows, Cody?
Who maybe your uh yourprediction might come true?
We'll see.
SPEAKER_02 (01:34:43):
Um, Dusk asks us any
plans to go to any of the
upcoming Kings versus Ducks gameat the Honda Center, it's the
pond, by the way, or staplecenter.
It would always be the staplecenter to me.
I we both agree with you on thestaple center one, yes, and I
agree with you on the um thepond, too.
Yeah, I don't know.
(01:35:03):
I know they have a game on BlackFriday.
I can't go because I have work,sadly.
Um, so yeah, I I can't go tothat one, and I know they have
like a home and home coming up.
SPEAKER_00 (01:35:16):
Like I think it's
it's January, right?
Is it in January?
SPEAKER_02 (01:35:20):
Let me see.
SPEAKER_00 (01:35:21):
And we gotta think
about getting to a uh it's gotta
be a weekend.
I I work uh you know, like 12 12to whenever time I get off.
So it's hard to go to any gamesduring the week for me.
So, but I I I want to get to aDucks Kings game.
We always have a good timegoing.
SPEAKER_02 (01:35:41):
So on December 27th,
they play um the Ducks play in
LA, but I can't do that onebecause I'm on call that
weekend.
Um, and then they have a homeand home, like literally
back-to-back games.
On the 16th, they play uh theducks play in LA on Friday, the
(01:36:06):
16th in January, and then onSaturday, uh it's home at the
pond for the Ducks against thecity.
SPEAKER_00 (01:36:13):
What time is that
game?
SPEAKER_02 (01:36:15):
Uh the Saturday one.
Yeah.
Seven.
We need to go.
I'll let me double check to seeif I'm on call that weekend.
SPEAKER_00 (01:36:25):
Yeah, check check it
out.
Let's let's let's let's get getsome tickets for that one.
I wish I could go to more games.
If you get to go to a lot ofgames, I I'm jealous.
I mean, I do enjoy watchingthem, you know, or even
listening.
And I and I gotta say, I thinkEmerson Edom has actually
totally improved his wholebroadcasting part for the ducks.
(01:36:51):
I I could actually I enjoyedlistening to them the last time
I listened to a ducks game.
SPEAKER_02 (01:36:58):
So huh.
Um, and then uh yeah, so we'regonna try and make it to one of
those uh that's uh January 17thgame, and then uh uh ducks RI
said if if one of Vegas orOilers miss, I'd be fired up.
I agree with both.
I I hope both of them missed,kinda.
SPEAKER_00 (01:37:19):
I would love that
both Southern California teams
or maybe even the San JoseSharks make the playoffs and
they're not there.
That would be so cool.
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:31):
Yeah, oh yeah, and
yeah, someone just put in the
Instagram live.
They play back to back inmid-January.
So yeah, we'll try to we'll tryto get to that January 17th
game, that'd be a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_00 (01:37:42):
Yeah, we'll start.
We'll find out if you're oncall.
We'll we'll see if we can getsome tickets, you know.
SPEAKER_02 (01:37:50):
If anyone has uh
good tickets, let us know.
We would love to go.
I will see you guys at Ducksversus Kings in the first round
of the playoff from Kevin.
Well, I will see you that'd befun.
SPEAKER_00 (01:38:04):
That would be fun.
You can you imagine all theseyears?
What 33 years?
32 that we've only met once inthe playoffs, yeah.
And it was uh awesome series, yeah.
I mean, it was hard fought, hardplayed.
(01:38:26):
Oh my gosh, you know, and iteverybody had their ups and
downs, and uh it could have goneeither way.
Um, I can't imagine it beingmuch any better than that one,
but you never know.
SPEAKER_02 (01:38:40):
Yeah, so one last
thing before we get out of here.
One of the podcasts I listenedto, the empty nutters.
Um, they're the ones that didthe the King's release schedule
with the computer.
Yeah, yeah, that was so theystarted a new segment on their
podcast, like for hot takes.
It doesn't have to be abouthockey unless they want it to
be.
(01:39:00):
And I and I know you feelgreatly about this, like I do.
The first hot take they did onthe podcast, the first time they
ever did it with the segment, the guy says scratchy towels are
way better than soft towels.
Amen to that, brother.
Oh, I messaged them.
I was like a hundred percentscratchy towels over soft
(01:39:22):
towels.
Because I like I've been I'vebeen saying this for years.
I've scratchy towels just dryyou off better.
And it feels better, yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (01:39:32):
The the the soft
towels just smear it.
Yes, it's hard to find, it'shard to find scratchy towels.
SPEAKER_02 (01:39:40):
Yeah, um, well who
would have thought at the time
of the 2014 King's Ducks seriesthat Corey the scory Perry would
be a point per game player forthe Kings in 2025.
SPEAKER_00 (01:39:54):
That is true.
Nobody Kevin, nobody thoughtthat that would ever happen.
Yeah, and the funniest thingabout that whole thing is
learning that Dowdy and Perrywere friends.
I'd have never guessed that.
SPEAKER_02 (01:40:13):
That they were
friends.
Because of Team Canada, theyplayed together internationally.
SPEAKER_00 (01:40:18):
Well, yeah, uh, but
they they were in the same uh
they were in Europe before Ithink before he signed with the
Oilers, and Doughty was tryingto have him come to the Kings,
and but the Kings weren't gonnaoffer as uh as much money as the
Oilers, so he he didn't do it.
But uh you know, I gotta say, what a surprise.
(01:40:38):
You know, I'm not in love withCorey Perry, but I definitely
are starting to like the way heplays because he's definitely a
difference maker, he's a roleplayer that makes a huge
difference, and I think that'show Stanley Cups are won.
SPEAKER_02 (01:40:55):
Deuce said soft
towel are way more comfortable,
but scratchy towels are moreeffective.
That's actually a good way ofsaying that.
I that is actually, I was gonnasay the same thing.
That is a good that yeah, Istill like scratch, I still like
scratchy towels more, like yeah,I get yeah, soft towels are like
(01:41:16):
more comfortable, and yeah, Ijust I I rather do they're
scratchy towels are hard tofind.
SPEAKER_00 (01:41:26):
Yes, we have
struggled buying towels thinking
they would be scratchy, and theyended up being too soft.
So yeah, I actually I only haveone scratchy towel.
I if you know anywhere to buy agood scratchy towel, please
message us.
Yes, direct royally coactive,yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (01:41:48):
So Instagram or
whatever, so yeah.
So since we talked about uhAdam's tournament from last week
when he was in Vegas, so just alittle recap on how they
finished.
They lost four to one in thechampionship to their rivals.
Um, but I guess they brought uha one semi-pro player and two
(01:42:08):
junior players to play in thelowest division, but he said
overall a good time.
And then Adam also sent me twouh pictures of this guy that
made shirts, and uh you'll laughat it.
There's that one the New YorkDucks of Anaheim.
(01:42:29):
Okay, that's cool, and then sothey made one in uh in the uh
New York Rangers colors and thenone in the ducks colors.
I thought this was a hockeypodcast, not a bed, bath, and
beyond podcast.
Hey, we're we're very versatile,we're very versatile, Adam.
