(01:03):
Explore and indulge on yournext Runcation.
Hey, welcome to episode 303 ofthe Run Eat Drink podcast.
I'm your host, amy, and thisepisode.
This was initially going to bea Runcation recap, but today we

(01:32):
want to flash back to episode157 and replay that for you.
This last week we lost awonderful friend of the show,
aaron, from the We'll Run Forpodcast, the humorous heart and

(01:53):
the one who always kept themorganized and on track,
according to Diana and Tom andMichael.
We lost Aaron, tom and Michael.
We lost Aaron, her kindness, her humor, her unwavering
support for runners everywhere.

(02:13):
It will never be forgotten.
We remember so fondly the firsttime that we met Michael and
Darren.
They were in Florida and theywere on a vacation and they
messaged us and said hey, we'llcome meet you halfway, just tell

(02:37):
us where.
And so we love Big Top Brewingin Sarasota and they were still
in their original location.
They've since moved to alocation that we have yet to
visit.
We really need to go there.
So we're like, yes, big TopBrewing is great, let's go there
.
It's unique, they'll like it.
We can introduce them to somegreat brews.

(02:59):
We can just have niceconversation.
And little did we know untilAaron messaged us listen,
there's no place to park andthere's some big, crazy concert
going on and we're thinking wemay not be able to get in here.
And it was a Grateful Deadtribute concert.

(03:21):
Who knew?
We learned to check all socialmedia, which everybody should do
, and Erin was right on it andshe's like, okay, we'll find
somewhere else to go.
And she found another brewerywith great food.
We had burgers, we had beer andwe had hours of amazing

(03:41):
conversation with Erin andMichael and she just made us
smile.
They made us laugh.
We took a photo outside thebrewery with a sign that said I
love beer and I love our runningcommunity and the ability to
find other podcasters, likeAaron and everybody from the

(04:05):
Will Run For Crew.
I just the being able to dothis podcast has brought us so
many people in our lives thatare loving, inspiring, just
incredibly motivating people, and we're so lucky to have met

(04:30):
her and to have gotten to knowher.
We're so glad they invited uson their Inside the Runners
studio and we thought we wouldtake this week to pay tribute to
the connections that runningand podcasting have brought us

(04:54):
to this amazing person, thisamazing human being.
Please do keep Aaron's familyand the We'll Run For podcast
family in your thoughts, in yourhearts in this difficult time
and, in Erin's honor, as we'veseen the Rise and Run podcast

(05:20):
folks do, as we've seen theWe'll Run For feed do, we
encourage everyone to considerdonating to two causes that were
close to her heart Unite ForHer and AWA underscore NJ, which
is an animal rescue, and UniteFor Her supports those with

(05:43):
breast and ovarian cancer.
And what can we say exceptwe're so happy to have these

(06:08):
recordings from times when Aaroncame on our show with the We'll
Run For podcast crew andcreated memories that we can
look back at and laugh and thatcomfort us in this difficult
time.
And she will always be a partof our Runcation Nation family
and we are supporting the We'llRun For family from here Now,
before we talk, running with theWe'll Run For crew, it takes a
lot to get back out there.

(06:29):
After having major stress likethe loss of a loved one, and
sometimes after my dad died andnow after hearing the news that
Aaron had passed away, I justwanted to stay in bed all day.
But instead of relying on quickfixes, I reached for Magic Mind

(06:49):
.
Magic Mind has been so nice tosend us not only their mental
performance shots but also theirgummies, which are green apple
delicious, and whether I tookthe gummies or I drank the
little green shot with somematcha, with some ashwagandha, I

(07:11):
love that.
It's a product that theycreated that takes natural
ingredients to help with stress, that stress hormone, that
cortisol that can have suchnegative impact on life.
And after three or four days ofgetting back into that routine
of taking that mentalperformance shot, I felt more

(07:44):
able to get back into at workthroughout the day, despite the
high emotional and mental stress.
So, magic Mind, you've beensupporting me since the
beginning of January and Icannot say enough about how I
appreciate your product, that itcan accompany my coffee and I

(08:05):
don't have to give up my coffee.
It can help sustain the effectof my coffee and you're helping
me get through some of the moredifficult times that I've ever
had in my life, and you'vepassed it along to the Runcation
Nation as well.

Hey, welcome to episode 157 ofthe Run Eat Drink podcast.
I'm your host, amy, and I'myour co-host, dana.
We are so happy to bring thisvirtually live episode to you.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
I see what you did there, and in just a few minutes
our listeners are going to seewhat you did there as well.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
I know.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Dropping the hints already.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Yeah, yeah, and I'm still coming off of that, those
wonderful three episodes withBart Yasso.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
It was so much fun talking with him and we've been
really fortunate.
And I want to say if there hasbeen any silver lining to this
global pandemic, it has beenthat it's forced us to get
creative and to reach out toother talent.

(09:44):
Yeah, to get them on the showand expose the Runcation Nation
to those people, maybe introducethem for the first time, maybe
bring them an interview thatthey've always wanted to hear,
and this week is no different.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Or a different angle, and I love the chat we had this
week because we when you thinkabout the beginning of the
pandemic and April and MikeRollman, fellow podcaster,
coming onto the show we havebeen so lucky through the world
of podcasting to meet totallygreat people who are such

(10:27):
supporters of fellow runnersthat they haven't even met.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
And not to mention person.
Yeah, and not to mentionincredibly talented podcasters
as well.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Oh my gosh, and it's really great.
It's podcasts.
They connect us all in such away.
It's like I said during theinterview, it's six degrees of
separation, six degrees of KevinBacon or I don't know, I don't
know.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
If you haven't figured it out by now.
Like I said during theinterview, it's six degrees of
separation, six degrees of KevinBacon, I don't know.
I don't know If you haven'tfigured it out by now.
We have guests on this week'sshow.
We do.
They're podcasters.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
And they were so kind to be with us for not only the
run segment but for the eatingand drinking portions of our
show.
Yes, they brought us runningcontent.
They brought us favorite placesto eat and drink.

(11:23):
So, aaron, michael, tom andDiana from the Will Run For
podcast, we were featured ontheir show inside the runner's
studio at the beginning ofmid-January, at the very
beginning of February.
Maybe these few weeks have beena blur.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Indeed.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
But we enjoyed every minute of that.
We had such a great laugh thatwe wanted to have them on and we
wanted to bring the RuncationNation something special that
they're doing to connect therunning community while we all
can't be together.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Yeah, now, this show is one of my favorites because
it's like just a bunch offriends hanging out and talking.
And when we got our opportunityto be on their show it felt
very much like that we had knownthem forever.
We were just hanging out withthem.
Then we got the opportunity afew weeks ago to meet up with a

(12:15):
couple of them.
Half of them when they weredown here in Florida.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Yeah, we were lucky.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
And it was an instant connection, and even Dani, as
you can hear, in the backgroundshe also had that instant
connection, even though she wasnowhere to be seen.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
They're dog and cat people too.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
They do.
They understand the struggle isreal.
So we had the opportunity tohave this interview and we
connected again and I think that, as you guys are listening,
you're going to hear why we haveso much fun listening to this
group.
We're out on our runs, yeah, and this week's episode, they

(12:55):
cover the gamut, they coverrunning.
They cover, like Amy said, theeating and drinking portions,
telling us about some spots thatwe have now added to our future
, places that we must visit andreview on the show.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yes, runcations, if you will.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
And I know you've been hard at work today doing
show notes and puttingeverything together.
So you're looking at theseplaces online going, oh yes,
Looking at the menus, looking atthe photos.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
You have to just stay tuned for their recommendations
.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yes, so we're going to have the run segment, we're
going to have the eat segment,we're going to have the drink
segment and Amy's got a.
We got a bonus.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Yeah, we sprung it on them.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
We flipped the script .

Speaker 4 (13:37):
We turned the tables.
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
And we gave them a little bit of their own medicine
.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yes, and they said this was the first time that
they were on another podcast, and so we thought what better
way to celebrate than to givethem the Inside the Runner
Studio questions that theyalways give runners that they
feature on their show?

Speaker 3 (14:03):
So we had a lot of fun springing that on them and
getting their answers.
So this is going to be a packedepisode today.
Oh yeah, this is about an hourtotal, just over an hour total
with them.
So this is going to be a greatepisode for your medium to long
run back of the Packers.
So grab your headphones, strapon your shoes and get ready.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
It's the We'll Run For podcast.
The will run for podcast.
Dana, we have been talkingabout the whole theme starting
in 2021, for our show has beenkeeping you motivated to achieve
your goals, like healthyrecipes with little indulgences
sprinkled in here and there, andresources to help you stay
running and stay with yourfitness goals.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Yeah, our number one goal for everybody out there is
to provide you what you need tostay motivated, and part of that
is having great content tolisten to on those long runs.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
That is for sure.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
And in order to do that, we have and are joined
today by our friends from theWe'll Run For podcast today by
our friends from the Will RunFor podcast.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
You might remember that we were on their show and
we did a special episode, theInside the Runner Studio, which
I absolutely adore.
And so today we are so lucky tobe joined by Tom, Diana,
Michael and Aaron from the WillRun For podcast.
Listen, they have their podcastbecause they were listening to

(15:34):
another podcast.
It's like Inception, or SixDegrees of Separation.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
It's very meta.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
They were all listening to the same running
podcast and then that podcastorganized a meetup that brought
them together and then theystarted their own podcast to
stay motivated in the pandemic.
And I can tell you theirpodcast appeals to everybody
front of the pack, middle of thepack, back of the pack, people
who love the beer, people wholove to eat, people who want to

(16:02):
talk about horrific chafingstories.
Let me just say so we are sohappy to welcome the four hosts
from the We'll Run For podcastto our show.
How are you all doing today?

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Hello, we're doing great.
Yay, we're so happy to have youall.
Yeah, we're so happy to be here.
I think this is the first timewe've been on someone else's
podcast.
Yeah, yeah, first for us.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Yay, this is the first time we've had four hosts
the same time.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
We weren't even sure we could technically do it.
This is amazing.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
And everything seems to be working out.
We all have something to drink,so that's good we do Cheers,
everybody Cheers.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Welcome to the show, welcome to the show we'll run
for Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
So we break it down.
If you've listened to our show,we have a running eating and
drinking portion of our show.
We would like to move into therunning portion of our show, if
that is all right with the fourof you.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, absolutely, I think.
Of those three things thoughrunning's my least favorite so
you have to do it in that order, right, Don't you?
Yeah, you do.
You have to do it in that order.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
To be fair.
We have tried it in some othervariants and it really doesn't
work very well it does not work.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
No, in your racing sometimes it does.
If you are running, and there'ssome drinks, on course, sure,
drink the drinks.
During is good.
During is good In order tocontinue moving forward.
I don't know if I'd call itrunning at that point, though,
oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
I don't know if I'd call it running at that point,
though it's funny you say thatAround this time last year we
were doing the last Was it thelast in-person race that we did
in the A1A?

Speaker 4 (17:41):
No, we did the Donna.
The Donna, are you kidding?

Speaker 3 (17:42):
It's been so long that you can't even remember we
did the Publix A1A over on theeast coast of Florida and at
mile nine these ladies set up atable and they saw me cause I
run in a kilt and they they comehere and they poured me shots
of Tullamore do at mile nine andthat was a morning I decided
I'm going to, I'm going to havebreakfast after I run.

(18:03):
So I was nine miles into a halfmarathon having my first shot of
whiskey on an empty stomach.
No, that's an amazing storythat made miles 10, 11 a half
marathon, having my first shotof whiskey on an empty stomach.

Speaker 5 (18:10):
No.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Oh goodness, that's an amazing story that made miles
10, 11, 12 and 13 way more fun.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Well, what you did?

Speaker 3 (18:18):
is interesting.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Yeah.
So what I really want to knowfrom the four of them is how did
you all, why did you get intorunning, Since you mentioned
that it's the least favorite ofthe three running, eating and
drinking?
How did you mentioned that it'sthe least favorite of the three
running, eating and drinking?
How did you get into?

Speaker 2 (18:32):
it.
I'll start because I said thatI hated running and I do and I
still do.
But I started running I thinkfive years ago now, and I
started running just to loseweight.
Initially, I started going tothe gym and running on the
treadmill and was doing Zumbaand a few other things, and then

(18:53):
I got invited to my firstin-person race with some
girlfriends and now I can't stop.
So, even though I say I hate it, I actually love it and I look
forward to it, but I'm miserablewhile I'm doing it.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Me too yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
This is I'll piggyback off of that.
I my running journey startedwith my introduction to Diana
because when I met her and wefirst started dating, she had
committed to running at least a5k every month.
And when you get with somebodyand you start to enjoy what they
enjoy, I just wanted to try itout.

(19:30):
I had no idea that I wouldstill like it the way I do now.
And I always say I started offfalse pretenses because I had a
Garmin and I started my watchand I went out for a 5k and I
guess the GPS didn't pick it upuntil I don't know halfway
through, because my first 5kever was 25 minutes.

(19:54):
And I get home and I'm likethat wasn't that bad, how fast
am I stupid?
So then I immediatelyregistered for a race and we're
driving to the race and she'slike what time do you want today
?
I'm like I guess 30 minutes.
And she's like all right, goodluck with that.
Five years later still running.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Diana 5k, 5k a month, did he say.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Yeah.
So I don't know what I wasdoing your mic's off.
What happened?
Yeah, sorry, the dog wassqueaking so I muted myself.
Dog was squeaking, so I mutedmyself.
She's fancy.
So yeah, I did a 5k every monthfor a year.
I don't know what I wasthinking.
I just needed something tomotivate me and keep me going.
And I just gotten into runningand it was around that time

(20:43):
where there were a thousandraces happening all the time.
So there was, remember, therewas like color run and the
electric run and this run andthat run every month Like I was
doing something.
I don't think there's that evenmany races now, but I started
doing at least a 5k every monthand Tom always says that I got
him into running.
But I never once and I stand bythis I never once invited him

(21:07):
to run with me.
I never said sign up for thisrace.
I never said come along and dothis.
He did that all on his own.
So he always tries to blame mefor running and I say you can't
blame me.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
I don't think I'm laying blame as much as thanking
you.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
Ah, there you go oh way to turn it around man.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
It's not my first rodeo.
You know what to do.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Yeah, sounds so familiar yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
I don't know where you might've heard something
very similar to that before.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yes, what?
What about the other half ofthis, this crazy podcasting host
crew?

Speaker 5 (21:42):
I was a dabbler in running in my twenties and into
my thirties, but it was likethat kind of thing where you go
out too fast and then you hateit.
Yeah, I would run for a monthand then quit probably a good 10
years of my 20s and 30s.
And then about seven years agoI was just super stressed about

(22:03):
life, so I was going for eveningwalks and I started doing walk
run where I was like, oh, Icould probably run to the end of
that street.
That's how I got into it.
I don't know, it was just astress relief, it was just being
out there.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
The nature and the world and on the road and being
like the day behind on thepavement.
So I started slowly doing that, where I walked and ran to the
light pole and then to themailbox and then to.
Eventually I got to the pointwhere I could run a mile.
That's how I started.
And then, once I did my firstrace, you know how that goes you

(22:41):
cross the finish line and thenyou're like oh.
I can do that.
I'm just going to train forthis one race.
And then you cross the finishline and you're like what's next
?
You forget the pain.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
so seven years exactly, still doing it yeah,
it's never just one race yeah, yeah, he says that with disdain
I guess we started around thesame time.
Not, we didn't know each otherat the point, but I started
december 2nd 2015 he knows theyeah.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
My favorite thing is that he knows the exact date
it's amazing.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
I was in terrible shape.
I was like 42 at the time andjust in terrible shape and I was
like I just need to be in goodenough physical condition so
that I can actually enjoy doingthings with my son, because he's
going to be able to do things.
I just I have a track at workso I just started walking around
it basically 25 to 30 minutes aday, seeing what I could do,

(23:35):
and thankfully I had a lot ofgood friends who had really good
advice, who are runners Onekarate last name, Chop.
You'll hear about on the show alot.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Do you hear about that on the show?
That's great.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
The long time, like running his whole life.
So really great advice fromthem to just go slow and take it
slow.
So I really did that from thebeginning and never burned out,
and I think the first race I ranwas a half marathon.
Like nine months later, wow.
And I skipped the marathon andnever looked back and I think
I've only run two halves in thattime.

(24:06):
I liked really long stuff.
I found out and found trailsand just enjoy being lost in the
woods, he is the crazy one onthe podcast.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah, we have a wide range.
I complain when I have to goout and do a 5K and then they
run like 30 miles every weekend.
So there's just a breadth ofexperience.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
And different reasons and different motivations for
running.
But what motivated you all?
We talked about it a little bitin the intro, so we don't know
how you all came to start thepodcast.
We see a little bit of thejourney, but how did you start
the We'll Run For podcast.
Really, I think it really cameout of.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
We were doing Zoom happy hours at the beginning of
the pandemic with like groups offriends from the team
shenanigans, which is the oldpodcast that we met through
doing these Zoom happy hourswith some friends, and
eventually, along the way theydwindled because people get Zoom
fatigue, but every so often thefour of us would still hop onto
one and we're chatting.

(25:06):
And Tom's always wanted to do apodcast, yeah, so he just
started tossing around the ideaand he just one day proposed it
to me and I was like I don'tknow.
And Michael's been inpodcasting for a long time what
10 years?

Speaker 6 (25:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
About, so he had some experience.
So that's how I dragged him in,and if we were going to drag
Michael in, we were definitelydragging Diana in.

Speaker 6 (25:28):
So yeah, unwittingly.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
So all this?
What other podcasts is he on?

Speaker 6 (25:37):
I have a small like gaming podcast network and then
I have a one that I do with justfriends where we just talk I'm
just called Chatterbox, butnobody really listens.
But we enjoy it because we gettogether.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
No one listens to that.
There's someone out there wholistens, I guarantee it.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
You have a fan somewhere.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Yes, I've done all kinds of you did a Deadliest.
Catchphrase for a while.

Speaker 5 (25:58):
Yeah, he's done all kinds of podcasts.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Yeah, the one gaming one Ifocus on.
There's five other shows on thenetwork.
It's just basically acollective of friends.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
He is on the network.
It's basically a collective offriends.
He has a podcast network guys Anetwork.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
He's professional.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
You're profesh I was sending you my resume.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
So, profesh, we got to clean that up, send that out
over there.
Professionals do get paid.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
I also think part of it was we didn't really know
what was going to happen withinthe last year.
We needed something tostructure our time, so this has
been a great distraction.
And also there's no races, sothere's nothing really to train
for.
But if you have a runningpodcast, you should be running.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Otherwise, what do you have to talk about Exactly?

Speaker 1 (26:50):
This is part of our motivation.
It's really helped pass thetime and we've already said it
If you look at Aaron, michael, diana and me, we there's a lot
of different ability in there.
So, like we, we can resonatewith a lot of different kinds of
runners.
And it's all about motivation, because Michael will talk about
doing an ultra, we'll talk aboutdoing a half and there's no,

(27:10):
you're not a real runner, you'renot.
I mean, we're like intervalers.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
We are not like.
I feel like we resonate withall kinds of like Galloway
methods.
Sure, yeah, like any anything.
There's just a wide rangebetween us and I think that's
the biggest thing is that wewant a podcast for the everyday
person, because there's not alot out of that out there.
It's hard to find it.
A lot of running podcasts areprofessional runners who

(27:36):
interview other professionalrunners, and we just wanted
something light and casual andsomething that people could
relate to, and we love it,because a lot of the feedback
that we have gotten is that it'slike chatting with your friends
and that's exactly thecommunity we wanted to build.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I was in the.
I was in the car.
I didn't mean to cut you off, Iknow I keep doing that, but I
was in the car going to physicaltherapy, listening to your
inside the runner studio andlike I'm talking to you all
through the car, I'm like peopleprobably think I'm crazy, but I
just it's just like, for Ithink everybody would say your

(28:14):
show, it's just, you're theextra person in the room when
you're listening.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Yeah, yeah, that's how I feel when I'm listening to
you guys.
I do the same thing, but I'mnot nearly as self-conscious
about talking to myself when I'mlistening to spoken word
podcasts, especially when I'mrunning.
And I love listening topodcasts when running because
that it's that getting my leftbrain engaged takes me out of
the absolute dread I feel forthe distance I'm doing that day.

(28:40):
If it's a long run, it'susually eight miles or more, so
I'm like I hate life.
I just want to think aboutsomething else, and if I can
talk to you guys while I'mrunning, that works.
It gets me out of my head.

Speaker 5 (28:54):
We love hearing that and we feel the same way when we
listen to you guys.
That's why we love we've whenwe.
When I first started theInstagram, I just started
looking for hashtags for runningpodcasts, and I'm saying that's
how I happened upon you guys, and so we just started listening
to a bunch of them, and yourpodcast is definitely one that
we latched on to, just because Ifeel you guys have that same

(29:15):
feeling where when you have aninterview even if when you have
an interview it's a veryconversational interview it
doesn't feel like over your head.
So we really enjoyed that aboutyou guys, thank you.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
The feeling is mutual , so mutual.
It's mutual, so mutual.
Aaron, I know Diana has talkedabout not dreading the run, but
I would like to know from thethree remaining co-hosts Is
there a least favorite thing youhave about running or a least
favorite experience that you'relike yeah, I did it, I'm not

(29:49):
going to repeat it.
It's a horror story.
I'm just learned from myexperience.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
I've worked outside my entire life and that will
lead into what I hate aboutrunning now.
I've been doing snow removalfor 30 years as part of my job,
so I now hate winter.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
Like, with a passion, with a passion.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
Like cold weather does not bother me at all, like
I can go outside in the cold, itdoes not bother me in the least
.
I despise running in the darkand in the cold.
Now I am so over it.
Okay, I think I've hit thepoint in my life where I'm old
enough to realize this isnonsense.
I can go do something else andbe more comfortable.
I don't need to do this.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
We had a vacation for two weeks to Florida and then
the first week back we didn'trun at all.
So we had three weeks off fromlike cold weather and or dark
running.
We go out for our first run inthe dark and it was a little
chill.
It wasn't even that cold coldout.
Yeah, yeah.
And he, like the second westarted, was like I'm done with

(30:46):
this, I hate this.
I was like oh, this.

Speaker 6 (30:50):
I was mad because I had to use a light.
I think yes, because I had tothrow my light on.
I was like I'm so tired of this.
I was like, can we just changethe clock?

Speaker 5 (30:57):
So I can tell you that was his least favorite
thing about running.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Now, is there anybody else that has a least favorite
thing, or are you just all shinyhappy running yeah?

Speaker 1 (31:12):
I'll say I guess it's just the constant pressure to
run which is counterintuitive tothis whole thing.
But if you don't run you losethe ability to run and then when
you try to start up again, haveyou ever ran like a half and
then say and then you're goinginto the holidays and you're
like I could take a month off, sure, and then jump right back
on the horse?
Absolutely yeah, it's not thateasy.

(31:34):
No.
So one of the worst thingsabout running is you have to
keep running if you want to.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
I feel that in my soul.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Yeah, I'm being honest.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Yes, Like.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
I know I have to run tomorrow.
I know I have to run tomorrow.
I know I have to run Friday.
I know I have to run thisweekend.
That's those are just thingsI've accepted.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
I can attest to this, because starting back to
running, or like you remember itand you remember oh, I went so
far, I went that half marathon,I could totally do this, and
then you have surgery and thenyou stop, and then starting back
up, man, that's a beast, oh myGod.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
And I'll say all of that.
But I've never regretted a run.
I do not want to do it theminute I'm done.
Thank God I did that.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Exactly, exactly, and I think that's what it is about
running.
There we were interviewing BartYasso and he talked about when
adults are out there and theyare running, you can see like
the pain in your face and I knowthat we can all relate to that.
But when you cross the finishline and you have made it
through or you made it through aparticularly tough run like a

(32:43):
least favorite experience ofmine was when I rolled my ankle
during mile number one of a halfmarathon and then you have to
keep on going to get to the end.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
It becomes a worse fear Nope.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
It's a worse fear.
I'd be like take the leg, takethe leg.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Yeah, they almost did with her.
I watched her ankle graduallyswell over the first half of
that and I'm like, oh, thisisn't going to end well.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
No, we're going to be in hospital later tonight, I
think.
No, it's just a flesh wound.
No, okay.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
No, I got you.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Okay, it's good, it's good.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Do you?

Speaker 4 (33:17):
have a favorite running moment, Anybody in
particular.
We could start wherever.
Tom Diane, do you have afavorite memory?
And then we can go to aroundthe horn.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
I think for me my favorite running moment is
probably Tom's least favoriterunning moment and one that
Aaron enjoys was probably when Ifinished my first dopey, I
don't know.
It was super challenging for me.
I had one of those races whereI don't know if anyone else
experiences this, but where youhave to be around people and
then you want no one around youand then you have to be around
people, so I kept sending peopleaway and then wanting them
immediately back.
So at one point during the raceI was completely alone by

(33:56):
myself.
I think it was mile, I don'tknow 21, maybe, yeah, 2021 might
have even been like 23.
Honestly, I don't even know, butI was basically on the verge of
tears.
20s, like the finish line wasthere, basically, and I was on
the verge of tears.
I was miserable.
I was actually getting my phoneout so I could call Tom and say

(34:19):
I didn't want to do it anymore.
And actually Aaron found me onthe race course and she said
there is beer a quarter mileaway and I was like beer, I can
go to beer.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
So then I love it.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
So we were like oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
So I was like walking into Hollywood studios and like
having a breakdown and then sofinally I had people back after
sending my friends away and thenwanting them back, and that
going back and forth.
But then I overindulged alittle bit, and by overindulged
I had three drinks.
But just like you, I was onmile 23 of a marathon, so I was
dehydrated and hungry.

(34:59):
There you go.
So I think I had two beers anda margarita and I don't know.
Just crossing that finish linewas such an accomplishment, I
was so excited about it, but Iwas also pretty, pretty tipsy.
Tom was really annoyed with mebecause he thought it was going
to be this magical moment.
And then I was like, while inacross the finish line, like a
crazy person.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
I romanticize everything.
And leading up to dopey, sheput so much training in.
It was like she was sodedicated and in my head it was
like this Olympic moment whereshe's going to come across the
finish line and it's this hugephysical feat and mental
challenge that she got over.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
And then she comes across the finish line, dancing
and tipsy, and I'm like allright, and yelling at him that I
wanted him to go get me anotherbeer I'm like congratulations.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
That's so awesome him to go get me another beer.
Congratulations, that's soawesome.
She's give me a beer.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Wrong word.
I'm pretty sure we got Dianadrunk.

Speaker 6 (35:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:59):
Did you Drunk?

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Yes, oh, yep, but that was my favorite moment
because it was an accomplishment, but it was also.
It was really fun.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
We have talked up the fact that those races are of a
party environment.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
So they just lend themselves to that 100 yeah yeah
, totally too funny yeah andthat's one thing we have not
been able to do to.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Disney is, or we haven't thought to, is to grab a
adult beverage, on course I'mtoo afraid of turning around and
finding the balloon.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
ladies, once you're in Epcot, you're fine.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
true, that's what people say.
Once you're in Epcot, you'refine.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
I don't believe any of that.

Speaker 5 (36:40):
You're never safe, I'm with you In my head.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
You're never safe.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
You're never safe.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
She's not, she is not content.
Like I can show up and I'lltell her okay, you're like two
miles ahead of them, three milesahead of them.
No, I'm not, they're rightbehind me and I'm like,
literally, you're in a differentpark than they are.
You're good.
Oh yeah, she's very intense atthe Disney race.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
I have nightmares.
I have nightmares.
So they we were talking abouthow you started the podcast to
stay motivated and running andto there really are no live
races around us anywhere.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Very few small ones in the community.
No large organized events yet.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
Yeah, but we hear that you all are organizing a
virtual event.
We are, we are, yeah.
Who is going to talk about?

Speaker 1 (37:30):
that A virtual event?
We are, we are yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Who is going to talk about that?
Because we want to know andwe're going to click the
sign-out button.
We just saw come out whatyesterday.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Yes, we launched it yesterday.
Yeah, talk about it.
Talk about it with us.
This is mostly Tom's brainchild, so we'll let him start with it
, okay.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
So we wanted to have an event.
I'm looking back on the pastyear.
There's been a lot of virtualsand I've ran a bunch of them and
they've definitely kept memotivated, but I'm a little
burned out on virtuals.
But the one thing that I reallydid enjoy is the sense of
community and seeing otherpeople achieving goals and
sharing on social media andlooking at the community that's

(38:11):
been built around the variouspodcasts and the friends that we
have in the running community.
We wanted to have something tolook forward to, something to
train for in the spring.
So we are calling it theVirtually Live Race 2021,
virtually Live.

(38:31):
So it's essentially it's achoose your own adventure where
folks can run any distance thatthey want, anywhere that they
want, with anyone that they want.
Like, you pick your runningcrew, you pick your distance,
but we want to know why.
We want to know where you'rerunning, why you picked what you
picked, and we really want toblow it out on social media.
We want a lot of pictures, videos.

(38:51):
We want to cheer each other on,to unify everything.
We're going to have a sharedstart on Instagram.
We, through friends of Michaeland Aaron's Beast Pacing, we
have somebody that can or hasmade us a custom medallion we
have seen photos of this and itseems like

Speaker 5 (39:13):
very large.
It's a four inch medallion andif you listen to our podcast,
you'll know why we'll never callit a medal.
Which medal medallion, okay.
Which michael had an epiphanyabout while we were recording on
our podcast.
That medal is short formedallion.

Speaker 4 (39:34):
So we're going to call it a medallion.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
For the rest of eternity.
It is a medallion, but, yes, peace Pacing.
Vanessa is one of my goodfriends.
We do a lot of her races inthis area.
We've done a ton of her ritualsto help support her.
She's a very small business, soshe does these wood cut
medallions that we are in lovewith.
They're very lightweight, they're great, and so I used her

(39:56):
and I said, hey, do you want tomake something for us?
And she said, since you'refriends, absolutely, we're so
lucky so we posted that theother day, yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
Yeah, so we posted that the other day.
Yeah, yeah, and we have on theFacebook event.
We have over 40 people that areeither going or interested and
we posted it yesterday.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
How's Vanessa feeling about all those medals?
Then it's good.

Speaker 5 (40:23):
She's good.
I texted her.
I'm like so what's the cap?
I said I don't know, maybewe'll get 30 people, and the
response has been way betterthan I expected.
We really had no idea what toexpect from this, but we've had
some good, loyal listeners andwe're very excited that people
are excited about it.
So maybe we can get some ofyour listeners involved too.
It'd be great.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
That's the plan.
We've been huge proponents ofvirtuals, of course, over the
last year.
You're looking for thatexternal motivator and I'm I
shamelessly run for bling.
Oh, yes, I I that is, I run forbeer.
Yes, at the end, if you havedrinks on the course, I might
run for those too.
But I am signing up for yourrace, for your medallion.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Medallion.
Yes, I now feel I've classed itup a little bit.
You have classed us up.
Stay classy podcasters.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
So I think that we should be able to expand some of
our listeners' horizons withthis race and give them another
opportunity for that external, extrinsic motivator to keep
moving.
And I love that choose ownadventure take on things.
I think that is so cool.
Number one I'm a huge Dungeonsand Dragons nerd, so the idea of

(41:35):
choose your own adventure iswhere I started when I was a kid
.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
I like those books.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
Yeah, and being able to apply that to running, I
think is super cool.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Yeah yeah, it's open to walkers, run walkers, runners
, like anybody.
It's really just about alldoing something at the same time
and cheering each other on.

Speaker 2 (41:55):
That's why it's virtually live.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
It's virtually live.

Speaker 5 (41:59):
Virtually live.
I actually think Tom said it'sthe virtually live part of it is
going to take place on April10th.
We have a 10 am start time.

Speaker 6 (42:07):
That we're planning Eastern.

Speaker 5 (42:08):
Eastern daylight time .
April 10th a 10 am start timethat we're planning.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
Eastern Eastern daylight time.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
April 10th, 10 am Eastern daylight time.

Speaker 5 (42:15):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (42:16):
But you can do it whenever you can do it whenever
you want.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
We are encouraging you.
If you cannot make that starttime, just message us, let us
know.
Tom and I will be around a lotthat month and our plan is to
hop on live on instagram orfacebook or wherever you feel
like us being and carry on.
Yay, we'll message with you,we'll live video with you.

(42:40):
Okay, we'll encourage you thewhole way.
But on april 10th, at 10 amEastern Daylight Time, tom and I
will be on live on Instagramand Facebook to start the race.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
I love that.
Now, if somebody wants to signup for the race to get that
medallion, where do they need togo?

Speaker 5 (43:01):
We have a run sign up page that we created.
We have a link to that If yougo to our Instagram.
In our bio we have a link tree.
Okay, that has the link righton the top there, or you can go
to our Facebook page.
We'll run for a podcast forboth of them and we have an
event for the virtually liverace.
The link for the run sign up isright there as well.

(43:23):
Fantastic.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
And I think we're going to link to all of that.
We're going to link to yourInstagram the run sign up page,
the event, the whole nine yards,so that everybody can go there
and sign up and be a part ofthis.
I think this is a super coolway to keep people running and
motivated and supporting eachother, and that is just awesome.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
Yeah, is there a deadline to sign up?

Speaker 5 (43:45):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (43:45):
April 3rd, just wanted to throw that out there.
Yes, yes, april 3rd, justwanted to throw that out there.
Yes, just in case people, because sometimes people get
excited and they just they clickthat interested or going, or
you know what I'm saying, andthen they're like our goal is to
have all of our medallions.

Speaker 5 (43:58):
Oh, and you also get a custom buff.
Yes, custom will run for buff, gator, gator gator, it's a neck
gator.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
Whatever we know, we got it.
We all know it.
We're runners, we're walkers,we got it.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
We designed and our goal is to have everything out
to in the mail by the 5th sothat hopefully everyone has
their bling before the race.
Before the 10th Before the 10thYep Nice.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
That is super smart.

Speaker 5 (44:28):
That is our goal.
Yeah, so we set that cutoff, okay.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
So we're going to have those details in the show
notes as well.

Speaker 4 (44:34):
Yeah, we're just going to link to it all.

Speaker 3 (44:36):
So I have a question now.
Let's say, we've done ourvirtual and we're virtually live
and we've completed ourdistance and you guys are, I
assume, also going to be runningwe will be Running and hosting
Busy Busy.
After you get done running, what is your go-to and this is

(44:59):
for all of you your go-topost-run meal to celebrate.
And if there's a place that youthink is a must go for us or
other members of the run nationwho get up your way, where are
you going?

Speaker 6 (45:15):
I was thinking about this.
We were talking about thisactually right before recording,
though we're in.
I grew, I was born in philly, grew up in this area, so I would
say if I had run a race inphilly I I would go to probably
Varga Bar, which is a great beerbar there with all kinds of

(45:35):
craft brews from everywhere.
It's like super specialty inthat.
Or I would go to Yards Brewing, which is a great Philadelphia
brewery that you don't reallyget around a lot of places.

Speaker 5 (45:47):
Or Glory Beer Bar.
Maybe, yeah, glory Beer Bar,glory.

Speaker 6 (45:49):
Yeah, glory Beer Bar, glory Beer Bar.

Speaker 5 (45:51):
Glory Beer Bar is another one that we really like.
Fantastic, they have this porkcheddar.
Is it the pork cheddar sandwich?
That is just amazing.

Speaker 3 (45:59):
I love pork cheddar.

Speaker 5 (46:00):
It's like a twist on the Philly roasted pork sandwich
, only it uses a giant piece ofpork cheddar and then they put
the broccoli rabe and the sharpprovolone on it, the way they
would with a roasted porksandwich.
And if you guys are ever up inthis area in Philly, just let us
know because we will take youthere for that sandwich.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Oh, yeah, okay, yes, I love porchetta.

Speaker 4 (46:23):
Immediately.

Speaker 3 (46:24):
That sounds incredible.

Speaker 4 (46:25):
We must do it, yes.

Speaker 3 (46:30):
What about?

Speaker 4 (46:30):
you guys?
Who's going next?

Speaker 2 (46:31):
I don't know no pressure.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
You got to top the pork head of sandwich.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
I don't know if we can.
We're in Baltimore.
Where do we typically go aftera run?

Speaker 1 (46:40):
I know you like burgers and I was thinking about
this.
There's a place called AbbyBurger Bistro.
That's a burger place 'sseveral locations, but one's in
downtown baltimore.
That is really good and we'vegone there after a few races.
I personally this weird, but Ilike the peanut butter burger
the peanut butter burger yeah,so it's a burger, but it's got a

(47:05):
thin layer of creamy peanutbutter on it.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
An actual beef burger .

Speaker 1 (47:09):
Yep and bacon, okay, and you'd be surprised at how
well that works together.
And then just like a monstrouspile of tater tots.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Is there like a jelly component or some kind of sweet
?

Speaker 1 (47:23):
component.
No, okay, it's something aboutthe saltiness of the bacon.
I don't know it.
Just for me it works.
I'm telling you it works.

Speaker 5 (47:33):
Salty and sweet together yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, I can see that we have a local pizzeria here
that does pizza that is baconand peanut butter and they do a
berry reduction on it.

Speaker 4 (47:44):
This is why I asked that.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
But yeah, the cheese and the bacon and the peanut
butter totally works, so I couldsee that on a burger.

Speaker 5 (47:52):
Baltimore Marathon.
I actually that was one of theplaces I ate was Abby.

Speaker 6 (47:56):
Really.

Speaker 5 (47:56):
Yeah, it's fantastic.
I was down there.
I remember seeing the peanutbutter burger and thinking how
weird it sounded and I did notget it.
But now I'm interested incoming back down your way and
getting that myself.

Speaker 2 (48:09):
Yeah, they have a bunch of, like, unique meats and
things like that to choose from, so you can even do a, create
your own where you pick.
Do I want a buffalo burger, orthey'll even I think I did a
lamb burger, I don't know.
Yeah, like lamb, or they'lleven do some exotic stuff.
I feel like they have they akangaroo, that kind of stuff
that you can pick from and thenthey have, like, their specialty
burgers and they have a reallygreat beer selection.

(48:30):
They're local to Baltimore.
I think there's two differentlocations in two of the little
neighborhoods so we do that alot after races.
We do Iron Rooster a lot, whichis a local Maryland place and
that's more of a breakfast placebut they have burgers and
things like that, but they'refamous for their homemade Pop
tarts.
Oh my, oh yeah, that's alwaysfantastic.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
They're so good, yep.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Yeah, that's always fantastic after a run, and then
we have tons of beer here, so weusually will get food and then
go to a brewery.

Speaker 5 (48:56):
Yeah, both of us live near big cities.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (48:59):
Being in the Baltimore and Philly area.
So if you guys want to come upand do some races, we got you.

Speaker 6 (49:05):
I, we got you I love this.

Speaker 4 (49:06):
I love that.
Yes, you have.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
Yeah, so you guys are skipping to the good part.
We've talked aboutaccomplishing.
Talked about exploring the foodscene.
Let's talk a little bit aboutthe indulgence here.

Speaker 4 (49:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
So they've talked about going to breweries.
Do you have a favorite beer orcocktail or wine that you toast
with or that you'd like to haveafter completing a race or a big
, long training run?

Speaker 1 (49:32):
how much time you got where do we start?

Speaker 5 (49:38):
it depends on where we are, too.

Speaker 6 (49:40):
I think that I would say locally, there's what's the
flying fish?
One with the sea salt.
No, that, that's not funny.
Dogfish, that's dogfish.

Speaker 5 (49:47):
Dogfish, yeah, crunch .
We've been into the sours andthe hazy IPAs that have that
citrus-ness to it.
Love that.

Speaker 3 (49:57):
Absolutely yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:58):
That's been our favorite go-to's for after, but
he's talking specifically aboutthe dogfish head sea crunch ale.

Speaker 6 (50:14):
That's like a limey tasting and then it's got like a
little salt in it, which isamazing, I think that would be
great.

Speaker 5 (50:17):
That would be great after a run.
Dogfish is a great one indelaware.
If you're going to do adelaware race, like rehoboth,
which is one of their largestones in delaware, that's right
there in that rehoboth area, soI highly recommend it.
They actually even have theirown race of the dogfish.
Is it an 8K?
I?

Speaker 1 (50:32):
believe it's the dogfish dash.
It's a 5-miler.

Speaker 5 (50:36):
Yeah, it's an 8K.
Yeah, we can do it, it's like4.97.

Speaker 6 (50:43):
Yes, Yards Brewing in Philly has a 5,000 yards dash
that.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
I've done once yeah 5,000 yards.

Speaker 4 (50:54):
I can't do math.

Speaker 5 (50:57):
It's a 5K, yeah, but you just have to say it to me
like that it's an automatic PR,because technically it's not a
5K yeah.
It's like when you do an 8Keven though it's really five
miles, it's technically a PR ifyou've done a five-miler and not
an 8K.

Speaker 3 (51:18):
I have no problem using technicalities to get a PR
.
I'm fine with that.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
Go 26.3.
Is that an ultra Is?

Speaker 5 (51:26):
that an ultra Considering.

Speaker 4 (51:28):
In Disney, you don't have a choice but to go that is
true to get to the parking lot,to get to your car or to get to
the bus back to your hotel 100stops by itself, going on and
off course regularly.

Speaker 5 (51:43):
Then you're all your beer stops and all your around
the world stops and yourmargarita at the end.
I always end up at 27 something.
So really you've done an ultra.

Speaker 3 (51:53):
There you go oh it counts.

Speaker 4 (51:56):
It's perfect, it counts.
See, fellow runners, that it'snot a technicality.

Speaker 3 (52:01):
That's very supportive.
We appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (52:03):
Yep, yes, I all I can think about is that burger that
he talked about now.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
It is good.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
What's this place where it was now?

Speaker 1 (52:13):
It's called Abby Burger Bistro.

Speaker 4 (52:15):
Abby Burger Bistro in Baltimore Abby Burger Bistro in
Baltimore.
That's going on the list.
Okay, yeah, it's got to go onthe list.
We have a humongous list fromthese people here now, these
podcasters.
They came prepared tonight.

Speaker 5 (52:31):
They came from North, so list from these people here
now, these podcasters.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
They came prepared tonight.
They came north so prepared wecan't wait to get, especially as
the weather gets warmer andwarmer here.

Speaker 4 (52:36):
Yes, the humidity, you've experienced that at
disney.
Sometimes I'm sure, 100, 100I'm sure now is there, tell you
have throughout the whole entireinterview, talked about where
our runcation nation can findyou.
But if you just want to reviewone more time how people sign up

(52:58):
for the race, how people canfind your podcast, find you,
connect to you, so they can havejust some more conversations
over a beer with some greatfolks, we are are Will Run for a
podcast on Instagram and onFacebook.

Speaker 5 (53:13):

You can sign up for the race, like I said, using the run sign
up link that is in our link inour bio in Instagram and on our
Facebook page.
It is a post and is also on anevent page.
Nice, those are two places togo for that.
We are hosted on anchor, but weyou can find us pretty much

(53:34):
anywhere you find your podcastsApple podcast addict, spotify,
amazon, all the things all thethings all the things.

run for podcast, or we'll runfor dot dot dot or we'll run for
dot dot dot.

Speaker 1 (53:51):
You can find it's nice and easy to find I love it
yeah, and if you like what youhear and you leave us a
five-star review, shameless plug.
I've committed to running fivemiles for every five star review
that we get yes and I will dosome ridiculous task.

Speaker 4 (54:09):
That whatever you want what's been the most
ridiculous so far we actuallyhaven't really gotten any.

Speaker 5 (54:15):
Really, this is the first week that we've started
getting some.
We have a re-reviewer who lovesto refresh her reviews pretty
regularly to run, which ishilarious.
So this time she's told himthat she, he, she would like him
to pet all the dogs.

Speaker 6 (54:33):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (54:33):
Every dog he sees, he has to stop and take a selfie
and pet him.
Oh, I really liked that one.

Speaker 3 (54:40):
That is a good one.

Speaker 5 (54:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (54:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (54:42):
A dress as the beach boys with a grass skirt from
Jamie today, yeah, Jamie, yes, actually he didn't leave it in
his review, but he texted us andsaid that he would like tom and
michael.
He's trying to add michael intothis michael, how are you doing
with that?
Uh, yeah, jamie, a long time sowith a beach boys shirt and

(55:06):
like a tropical shirt and agrass skirt is how he would oh,
that's too funny.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
I think that members of the runcation nation check
you guys out and go over toapple podcasts and leave that
five-star review and somesuggested zany antics yeah there
needs to be more of that wehave a listener who's getting
married and we're invited.

Speaker 5 (55:28):
All four of us are invited to the wedding.
We knew her before we startedpodcasting.
She just didn't invite somerandom podcasters.
She has decided on the morningof her wedding she would like
Tom to dress in a tutu and aveil and run for her wedding Did
she specify how far Run awaybride.

Speaker 3 (55:48):
Oh, that's great.

Speaker 5 (55:50):
I believe she's going .

Speaker 1 (55:51):
It's a 5K.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
The morning of her wedding.

Speaker 4 (55:54):
She could be on the horse like the Julia Roberts
runaway bride thing.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
Oh boy, chase him.
Amy's got plans for you.

Speaker 4 (56:02):
Listen on our behalf, I submitted a review.
On our behalf, I submitted areview, but I didn't get a
chance to tell him to do somekind of quirky thing.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
Just re-review.

Speaker 4 (56:16):
Just re-review, so it's brilliant.
I'm going to do it.

Speaker 1 (56:20):
Yeah, you don't even have to re-review, I will give
you five miles, whatever youwant me to do.
It's got to be legal, thoughit's got to be legal, though
it's got to be legal.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
We would only suggest legal things.
We'll come up with somethinglegal.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
Yes, we'll come up with something legal.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Yes, but here's what we're going to do right now.

Speaker 4 (56:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (56:39):
We are going to turn the tables on you guys.

Speaker 4 (56:41):
We've done the Accomplish Explore and Indulge.
We have plugged a fabulous showthat you do.

Speaker 3 (56:47):
We're turning the tables, though.

Speaker 4 (56:48):
Yes, we are, because you guys Dana, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (56:53):
Here I hit the mic again.
Amy's going to sit here and hitthe microphone for a minute and
we are going to turn the tablesbecause you guys are known for
the inside the podcast studio.

Speaker 4 (57:02):
The runners Get it Get it Seriously.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
I'm trying to, I'm reading and scrolling.
I got three screens going onhere.
I am a rank amateur.

Speaker 4 (57:11):
we've established this I know, so am I.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
It's okay, keep hitting the microphone inside
the runner's studio is based onthe questions from james
lipton's famous show we are.

Speaker 4 (57:23):
We love that show and we're so obsessed with that
show.

Speaker 3 (57:26):
Actor's Studio.

Speaker 4 (57:27):
I love that show, so when we heard it for the first
time that you all do that, wewere so excited.
I'm just saying so.
We would like to turn thetables.
If you will give us permission,if you'll indulge us.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
We've never heard you answer these questions, so
we'll rapid fire these and youguys give us your answers.
What is your favorite word?

Speaker 1 (57:54):
Icebox.

Speaker 4 (57:59):
Tom said icebox, are we editing?
Yes, we can edit.

Speaker 3 (58:03):
We can edit.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
We should have prefaced that before the whole
thing, before we asked.

Speaker 5 (58:07):
But yeah, whatever you say, we can bleep whatever.
I probably use word all thetime.
Yeah, probably the word I usethe most, especially being in
the construction industry and awoman who has to keep some men
in line.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
Wait, did you say favorite curse word or favorite
word?

Speaker 6 (58:29):
no, we're on favorite word, we're just on favorite
word sorry I can't wait till weget curse word oh my god, this
is where she starts wow, alsobeing from jersey and working as
a heavy equipment operator fora long time, I would say the f
word definitely is the word Iuse the most.

Speaker 4 (58:48):
I would say but see, he said so I know that's
hysterical, I think my favoriteword is yes.

Speaker 3 (59:04):
What is your least favorite word?

Speaker 5 (59:09):
Irregardless.

Speaker 4 (59:10):
I knew that was coming, I knew it, I knew it.

Speaker 6 (59:14):
Irregardless Mine is meeting Right there with you.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
Mine is a phrase and it's you're on mute Because
after a year of this, that'sstill happening and it's
embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (59:31):
So, tom, it's like because of the pandemic and all
the Zoom, it's still happening.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Oh, my God, Okay, okay, okay, oh goodness, it's so
bad that we ask these questionsto everyone, and I don't think
I've ever thought about it formyself.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
To be fair, we sprung it on you.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
No, I think, thought about it for myself and, to be
fair, we sprung it on you.
No, I think.
I don't know.
I think my least favorite wordOkay, this is also part, this is
a Tom thing, not to put him onblast but he says the word barf,
but he does it when he'sburping.
So sometimes when he burps hejust says barf as the burp, and
it's the most disgusting thingI've ever heard and it's my

(01:00:08):
least favorite thing on theplanet see that would rapidly
become someone's ringtone if itwere me it could be.
I hate it so much.
I'm sorry no one expected that.

(01:00:29):
No one expected we're gettingreal To recover.

Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
Are we on number three?
Yes, okay, good, sorry, I justgot so I'm sorry.
What turned you on?

Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
Confidence.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Celebrities.
What am I supposed to?
Do with that Avengers movies.

Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
Kind of cliche, but a sense of humor, someone who
makes me laugh.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Kindness.
That was nice, I know You'rewelcome.
Welcome.

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
that's quality content right there look at the
warm and fuzzies we're gettingand the juxtaposition to barf
it's so gross you gotta go Igotta read it what turns you off
?

Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
Poop.
I love that.
Someone who thinks too highlyof themselves.

Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Oh, that's a good one .
Good, good, I'll get there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
I'll get there, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
I'll get there, I'll get there.
It's something like it's likenepotism or like an undeserved
sense of self-accomplishment.

Speaker 4 (01:02:02):
Like that answer.
They're connected.
Those two answers.

Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Yeah, I think, because I like confident people
but I don't like cocky people,so I'll say that, like when
they've taken that confidence toan unhealthy level, yeah, it's
too much.

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
What sound or noise do you love?

Speaker 6 (01:02:22):
I love the sound of the wind, like blowing through
the woods, when I'm out running.

Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
I love this.
Oh, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (01:02:30):
Erin, the ocean Running at the beach was always
my favorite thing in the world, and I used to just sit on the
beach afterwards and just listento the waves in the ocean.

Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
That's so good answer good answer beautiful yeah, you
guys are so relaxing.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
I feel like my favorite noise is like laughter,
like I just love it, that's agood noise, yeah, that's a great
noise like yeah mine's weird, but like you ever been at like
the dinner table and you hearlike the, you like the
silverware, like clinking off ofthe China, like the sound of a

(01:03:08):
meal.
Are you hungry?
Do you know what I'm saying?
Take all of the actualconversation out of it and think
about like Thanksgiving dinnerand just the sounds of the meal.
That's the weirdest thing I'veever said.
Out of it.
And think about likethanksgiving dinner and just the
sounds of the meal.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
That's the weirdest thing I've ever said spoken like
someone who's survived the 21stcentury pandemic yes, I just
love the sound of eating meals, but meals with family there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Love it.

Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
Yeah, oh, this is okay.
You're keeping me on track andI appreciate that about you.
What sound or noise do you hate?

Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
My cat yowling at 3 am in the morning.

Speaker 4 (01:03:54):
Yeah, oh yeah, when they're hungry and they're just
insistent, that's a meow and ahowl that is like no other.
I'm just saying Good.

Speaker 6 (01:04:03):
For me it's work related.
I work at an airport, sothere's a certain time they run
up jets in a certain area whereit echoes through my building
for 15 minutes straight whileI'm trying to do things, through
my building for 15 minutesstraight, while I'm trying to do
things, and it is like beingand I'm literally within 100
feet of it, or, no, 500 feet ofit, oh God Going through my

(01:04:26):
building, which is extremely oldand porous, and the sound is
not kept out.
It's really loud.

Speaker 2 (01:04:36):
And that's my least favorite sound every single
other week.
I think my least favorite soundis people chewing or slurping,
like it drives me up a freakingwall.
I hate it.
I hate it If it's even ifthere's, you know how like
commercials will have us.
Yes, commercials will have aslurp.
I literally have to change theradio station if I hear it.
It bothers me so much I can'teven listen, like as soon as I

(01:04:58):
hear it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
I radio station if I hear it bothers me so much I
can't even listen.
Like as soon as I hear it I'mlike nope, it's a source of
contention in our household.
So what you're saying is soundsof meals is not your favorite.

Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
No, it's not my favorite I guess mine would be
like if you accidentally step onyour dog's foot and like it
yelps you know what I'm saying?
Because they're just sad andthey don't understand why you
would be attacking them and thenyou feel terrible because you
just made a mistake.

(01:05:28):
I don't like when animals arehurt, that's it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
I understand this completely, because I apologize
profusely to the dog.
Like they can understand me.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Exactly, and they don't, they don't.
It happens to the cats too.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
They're always under your feet.

Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
And then they hold it against you.

Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
Yeah, and I feel like cats are worse.

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
No, about holding things against you yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:05:53):
No, like they're always under your foot.
They're always under foot andyou're more likely to step on
them.
No because when it happens toour dog, he does that initial
like little yelp thing.

Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
But then he thinks you want to play.
So then his tail starts wagging.
He's oh, are we up now this?

Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
is what we're doing.
Let's go.
I know you get to.

Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
I get it, I got it.
Yeah, what is your favoritecurse word?

Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
It's all tied up into the what's my favorite word and
what's my favorite curse wordare all the same beautiful f
word that I dropped earlierprobably.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
I probably use mother for a lot a lot oh, a lot, yeah
, especially at work, a lot Ithink my favorite is the c word
because it gets the most shockvalue like people are always
really shocked when you say it,so I like the impact that it has
.

Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
God, I just I want to default to the F word because
it's so versatile.
Yes, it is Something likesomething creative.
Yeah, especially when Britishpeople swear.

Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
Oh I know I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
It's the best, the best, it's the best, it's the
best, it's the best it really is.

Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
They should have classed it up, yeah, and like
Anna who, when she was on theinside the runner studio, that
is so right.
The F word is so very versatile, yeah, yeah, it can be a noun,

(01:07:25):
it can be a verb All the things, absolutely, all the things,
absolutely all the things.
So what?

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
profession other than your own?
Would you like to attempt one?
Oh, I know exactly what I wantto be a jungle cruise skipper
they have so much fun.

Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
I love it you'd be so good love it.
Then if you're a Jungle Cruiseskipper, I'm going to be a
bartender at Trader Sam's.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Ooh, that's a good one, that's a great one.

Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
That is a great one, I think.

Speaker 6 (01:07:51):
I'd like to be one of those people who grooms the ski
slopes in one of those trackmachines at night.
So random, I know, but it's sopeaceful.

Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
You don't like being out at night for a run, though.

Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
In the cold.
It's different.
It's different.

Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
But imagine the solitude.
You're out there on the skislope all alone, no people.

Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
That's my living nightmare.

Speaker 5 (01:08:12):
I was going to say you and I are very different of
our people meeting.

Speaker 6 (01:08:18):
Yeah, you like to be alone.

Speaker 5 (01:08:20):
I'm actually wondering how he's going to do
this 40th birthday party thatI'm putting together with
800,000 people that I'm hopingwill be all vaccinated and able
to make this happen.
But I think that I would wantto do something with running.
I've always wanted to get intothe running coach thing.
I'm super into the science-ystuff.
Running I've always wanted toget into the running coach thing

(01:08:41):
.
I'm super into the science-ystuff.
We listen to Megan Roach andDavid Roach and Ian Sharman and
this guy, Sean Brennan how doyou say his last name?

Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
I'm going to say it wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Brennan, brennan, brennan, I don't know.
They talk a lot about the fasttwitch muscles, the slow twitch.
I'm super nerdy into like howyour muscular system works, the
mechanics of your body andeverything.
I think that I would nerd outon running.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
I think he would too, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
I'm the science nerd of the pair.

Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Uh-huh.

Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
What profession would you not like to do?

Speaker 5 (01:09:14):
Someone on our podcast used this and I would
agree anything having to do withpoop.

Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
Yeah, I'm with you for sure.
I've done that it's not thatbad.

Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
Like cleaning porta potties or septic tank, or like
I've done a lot, or likecleaning a puke.
Yeah, anything to do with.

Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Don't you mean barf?

Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
Oh, I'm sorry, I was trying not to do that.

Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
It's amazing, I would say at least, I would not like
to do anything retail whatsoeverever in my life.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
I did retail for a long time.

Speaker 6 (01:09:57):
I did it for a week.
It was hell.
I was like 17 or 18.
I was like a long time, a longtime too.

Speaker 4 (01:10:04):
I did it for a week.
It was hell.
I was like 17 or 18.
I was like that's enough.

Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
That's enough.
That's enough, I think, I think, for me, and I was trying to
think of just something that wasjust like outdoorsy and alone
and I was like, does that jobexist?
But I'm like a park ranger.
A park ranger would be myliving nightmare, like I don't
want to be outside.
It's amazing that I run and Idon't want to be alone, so I
can't have any of that.

Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
I would be afraid you would get stranded somewhere in
the park.
Yeah, I can't as a park rangerat night and who knows what's
out there.
Yeah, if I'm alone, cold can'thandle it.
No, that's a tough one.
I know that is a tough one, isn't it?
Because there are so many jobsthat I would not like to there

(01:10:49):
are so many jobs that I'm veryenvious of that.

Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
I don't think I the overall pressure would.
I don't know, I don't think Iwould be good at that.

Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
I understand that I'm right there, man, I don't want
that kind of pressure.

Speaker 6 (01:11:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
I don't want to be outside at night.
I don't want to have that kindof pressure.
I don't want to be outside atnight.
I don't want to have that kindof pressure.
I don't want to clean up anybodily fluids at all.
I'm with these people.
These are my people.
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
That being said, I'm very thankful for the people
that do those jobs.

Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
Exactly Because someone's got to do it and thank
goodness it's not me.

Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
And last but, certainly, not least, if heaven
exists.
What would you like?

Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
to hear God say, when you arrive at the pearly gates,
the bar's open.
Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
Yes, I was going to say the all you can eat buffet.
Is that way?
Ah, there you go.

Speaker 6 (01:12:00):
It's all so good.
I would say welcome home oh.

Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
Wow, how do I follow that?

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Good luck.

Speaker 6 (01:12:11):
Now you can't be funny after that one.

Speaker 5 (01:12:13):
Yeah, I know.
Some people go funny on thisand some people go super serious
.
You never know what you'regoing to get on this one.

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
I think one of your answers was you drove it like
you stole it.
Indeed, and I'm going to stealthat one because I loved that
answer.

Speaker 4 (01:12:33):
It implies so much.

Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
It does.

Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
Love it, yeah, aww.

Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
That's fantastic and we were so thankful that you
guys were willing to indulge usand let us turn the tables on
you a little bit for thatexercise.

Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
We just surprised them.

Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
We should have expected it.
I don't know why, although Idon't know why, of the dozens of
time we've done it, I've neverthought about it for myself.

Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
I think it's because you're just like focused too
much on the asking the question.

Speaker 5 (01:12:58):
Okay, this is my question and that's like we've
done it so many times and sentout the question so many times
that you just don't think aboutit the other way.

Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Yeah, I guess my whole MO is that I don't do the
reading or any preparation atall before we record.
So doesn't do that, it's just.
I just don't do the homework.

Speaker 4 (01:13:15):
Sounds like me.
Sounds like to help.
Mark, sounds like me, soundslike somebody else I know that's
sitting right next to me.
I'm craft services, reallycraft services, really.
We are like running woefullylow on beer, indeed, and I
imagine that they are as wellneeding beverages.
