I'm your host, Amy.
And it's been a minute.
It's been a minute.
And I think the last show thatwe shared was an excellent
second half of a fantasticinterview with Sherry Witt, Witt
syndrome, and all those nuggetsof wisdom and just stories and
(02:13):
things that can make you laughand go, maybe I need to
re-evaluate the way that I'mdoing my run walk run, or maybe
I need to reevaluate the waythat I'm doing X, Y, or Z in my
training program or my life ingeneral.
But it's been a minute sincethen.
And so that I want to kick offthe show by saying it probably
(02:37):
won't be a super long episodebecause I need your help on
Cation Nation.
And I certainly hope that we getsome help.
And uh and I'll let you know alittle bit about that as we go
into our episode 318.
And uh we're gonna kick it offwith shout-outs.
(02:57):
That's right, shout outs.
First of all, again, thank youto Sherry Witt, who gave us a
great run cation recap.
Really, it was just a pacer'sguide to run, walk, run, really,
in the last two episodes.
And there were so many thingsthat were so valuable in those
(03:19):
that we just really appreciateher being so generous with her
time and uh giving us so manywonderful things to share with
the Run Cation Nation.
And uh, congratulations on theNew York City Marathon, too.
We hope to have you back torecap that and uh hope you got
some good pizza with some NewYork, some good New York pizza.
(03:40):
Not that Chicago doesn't havegood pizza, people.
I'm just saying, just putting itout there, not to start the
pizza wars again, okay?
I also want to saycongratulations to everyone who
ran the wine and dine 2025 wineand dine weekend, the half
marathon weekend.
I was registered for the 5K andthe 10K and wanted to go, but
(04:03):
really couldn't do it.
You all looked amazing in all ofthe social media.
There was definite FOMO on myend.
I missed having a chance to meetup with my coach and America's
coach, Jeff Galloway, who was acharacter stop and at the
finish, from what I understand.
And uh it looked amazing.
(04:25):
It looks like a wonderful, oh,it looks like people had a
wonderful time, celebrated theway that you should around the
world showcase.
And so, congratulations toeveryone who ran, walked,
whined, and dined.
And if you want to recap thatfor us, really get in touch.
(04:48):
And we would be happy to set upsome time to talk with you about
that amazing race weekend or anyrace weekend that anybody wants
to recap, by the way.
We also want to shout out theentire Rencation Nation,
everybody who listens to ourshow.
Uh, all of you have been sosupportive over the last six
(05:08):
weeks.
We haven't had a show out in awhile because my mother's been
ill and she uh recently andpassed away on November 4th, 10
months to the day that my fatherpassed away.
So it's been really hard to domuch of anything, to be honest
(05:28):
with you.
I don't know if anybody hasexperienced that phenomenon
around grief, but hence thetopic of the show today.
We really want to say thank youfor hanging on and for uh
listening, even though we'vebeen spotty here with episodes
(05:49):
here and there for for the lastsix weeks.
So thank you, Runcation Nation.
You have no idea what you meanto us, and you just listen to
the show, and we appreciate itso much, like we always say,
some of the nicest people you'venever met or your online
community of runners, and thenyou meet some of them along the
(06:14):
way in a 5k, a 10k, a halfmarathon, and a full marathon,
an ultra, whatever, and theybecome you the best of friends
for one mile, two miles, crossing the finish line, or or
you exchange numbers and itbecomes a lifelong friendship.
So we just really appreciateeverybody out there in the
(06:36):
Rencation Nation.
And we've had those kinds ofexperiences with many of you,
and we can't wait to accomplish, explore, and indulge with you
again really soon.
So if you want a shout out foryou or for someone else you love
on the show, any friend, familymember, any kind of
(06:57):
accomplishment that you want tohighlight or shout out, feel

that we can play for you andmake your Run Cation Nation
famous, or you can do it theold-fashioned way and give us a
(07:20):
call and leave us a message at941-677-2733.
That's 941-677-2733.
And that is also the way thatyou can reach out to us and let
us know that you would like toparticipate in the show by
giving us a Runcation recap.
(07:41):
You've been to New York CityMarathon, which happened
recently.
Tell us about it.
Come on the show.
You've been to Wine and Dine2025, tell us about it.
Help us prepare for next year.
Let us know whether we shouldenter the lottery for a certain
(08:02):
race, or we've definitely got torun a certain race for the
majestic views, for theincredible water stop volunteers
for the fantastic bling, as Danawould say, if he were here, he's
very bling driven, or thet-shirt.
(08:23):
It's amazing because of thet-shirt that you earn when you
run this race, or theruncationing afterwards.
The exploring and indulging partis why you've got to see this
part of the country and run thisrace.
Let us know because we reallyneed that.
And uh, so again, it's info atrunnydrink.net or 941-677-2733.
(08:50):
And now let's talk running.
Let me tell you, I need newshoes.
And uh I I run in Brooks, and soI'm gonna get some new shoes to
motivate me to get back into therunning run walk for my upcoming
race because I have the 20thanniversary of the Miles for
(09:14):
Moffitt coming up on, I believeit's the 22nd of November, and
it's on a Saturday, it's on thatweekend, the 22nd, 23rd, I can't
remember which.
And it's in Tampa, and I'mrunning that to celebrate the
life of my father, and I guessyou could say also to celebrate
(09:37):
my mother who was with him.
We've had incredible amounts ofloss this last, I don't know, 10
months, I could say, and uh it'sbeen really emotional and really
difficult to maintain a trainingregimen.
(09:57):
And I just want to know, outthere in the Run Cation nation,
have you encountered certaintimes in your life, certain
events in your running life orin your life that have affected
your running life, have impactedyour running life, that you an
(10:20):
injury, for example, becausewe've had plenty of those in
this family, let me tell you, that's why Dana's not here
recording with me, and that'swhy he's not running with me in
the races, that he just cannotget rid of that Achilles injury,
no matter what he does.
He can't do it, and it'sfrustrating for him, and it's
(10:43):
frustrating for me because ifyou do things together as a
couple, and then all of a suddenyour sidekick can't be there,
that is an emotional hit, also.
So uh in this running segment,we're talking about struggles
that are physical, but alsostruggles that are emotional.
(11:06):
Emotional, like on Halloween, welost our baby girl Danny, who
she's been a mascot of the showfor so many years for the last
almost decade of podcasts thatwe've had.
And she was just a preciousguiding light, and we lost her.
(11:26):
And the minute we lost her, Ifelt, wow, do I really want to
get up and go run?
Even though I know it would bethe best thing for me.
It would be the best thing forme to get out in the sunshine
and to put one foot in front ofthe other and to run out some of
those feelings of anger orfeelings of sadness or feelings
(11:49):
of depression.
They that they often keep usfrom the physical activity, but
they are the reason we should doit.
I I posted a video over onTikTok today about, or was it
yesterday?
(12:09):
I think it was yesterday's.
It's all running together.
The days are all runningtogether for me.
I think it was yesterday's videowhere I was talking about when
we need to run when we feel likedoing it the least.
When we least feel like running, that's when we need to get out
there and do it the most.
(12:32):
So what I am asking for in thisshow is a little bit of help
from the Runcation Nation.
Have there been physicalstruggles that you have pushed
through?
And how have you pushed throughthem?
Or emotional struggles that haveled you to maybe be on the couch
(12:56):
too much and not out on thepavement so much.
Please let us know what yourstruggles were and how you
overcame them, or are you stilltrying to push through them now,
like very much like I am?
Please let us know at info atruneatdrink.net, or leave us a
(13:17):
message at 941-677-2733.
Any emotional or physicalstruggles that you've had with
running and how you've overcomethem or how you're working
through them, or how it justsucks right now.
It just sucks right now, and Idon't know if I'm gonna get out
of it.
I don't know if I'm gonna getback to running again, and it
(13:40):
just sucks.
It is this is a big call toaction episode, if you will,
because I'm struggling withrunning, eating, and drinking
and staying hydrated enough, drinking enough water, eating
the right things that I need toeat.
I just want to eat all the junkthat makes that is just that
(14:03):
makes you feel good in themoment.
And it's it's a struggle.
It's a struggle to overcomeinjury and overcome emotional
challenges at the same time.
And I gotta tell you, do I callit overcoming?
(14:24):
Here's the question Do I call itovercoming my struggles just by
getting out of bed in themorning?
Because sometimes I feel likethat's a win.
Sometimes I feel like that isthe victory.
And it is something so small orfeels so small to me.
(14:46):
But is it is that a big victoryor is it not?
And what are the kinds of thingsthat you struggle with?
I I'm struggling with justputting whatever whatever I want
in my mouth to eat dinner andwhatever it's and so I'm
(15:09):
considering to bring a mealservice on to just support me.
And so all I have to do is nukesomething in the microwave for
two minutes and then it's there, and I don't have to worry about
cooking something or having abig to-do in the kitchen or
needing to go shop in thegrocery store.
(15:29):
Or so if anybody has tried ameal service and has one to
recommend or would pass thatalong and what the challenges
have been, what the successeshave been, that that is
something that we're thinkingabout doing so that we can just
(15:50):
focus on maybe getting back outthere instead of worrying about
where the next meal is gonnacome from.
Is it gonna come from going tothe grocery store and picking up
all that?
Doing the me, what is it, MiseonPlus?
Mise on plus, and and andgetting the kitchen a mess, and
(16:13):
then you have to clean up thekitchen and it's a never-ending
cycle.
You're always cleaning.
Yeah.
To if and it it's just it's astruggle to even want to cook
anything or get in there, andthe challenge is also how do I
keep getting my water in?
(16:34):
How do I get that hydration in,even I don't feel like doing it?
I don't feel like eating, Idon't feel like drinking the
proper hydration so that I canget supported and get back out
there.
It's just a really struggle busmoment for me as far as training
for the next race.
And the next race is there, itis there, and it should be
(16:59):
something that motivates me sohighly to get out there and get
those miles done.
Why?
Why am I not out there gettingthose miles done?
How can I push through all ofthat grief and sadness and
struggle and really get back todoing what I know when I started
(17:24):
again?
It will benefit me in so manyways.
Emotionally, physically,mentally.
Run walk running has been asavior in times of stress for
me.
If I will just accept that andget out there without any
recommendations, any stories, any any feedback that you can
(17:47):
give us, please do that at infoat runny drink.net or call us
and leave us a message at941-677-2733.
We're looking for any stories ofovercoming obstacles.
Basically.
And getting back out there toyour run walk run.
(18:09):
So with that, next week, we willget back to more running,
eating, and drinking and shareyour stories of overcoming, your
stories of struggle, yourstories of hopefully if you give
them to us.
And uh so stay tuned for that.
We can make you run CationNation famous people.
(18:32):
Just do it, just do it.
There are many ways that you allhave supported us in the past.
We encourage you as we get backgoing with these episodes to
give us a share on social media, share with your friends and tag
us, or give us a rating andreview on Apple Podcasts to let
us know that we should still putout this content.
(18:55):
And these are all free ways thatyou can support the show and let
us know that we should keepgoing with it.
And we just love you all andappreciate your support.
So that's a wrap.
Thank you for joining us on yourlong run, your commute to work,
or around the house, whereveryou are.
(19:16):
I'm your host, Amy.
Stay safe and well, and we willaccomplish, explore, and indulge
with you really soon.
