Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, I'm Jeff Galloway and you are listening to the
Run Eat Drink podcast.
Welcome to the Run Eat Drinkpodcast.
We feature destination racesfrom across the country and
after the race, we take you on atour of the best local food and

(00:20):
beverage to celebrate.
So, whether you are an eliterunner or a back of the packer
like us, you'll know the bestplaces to accomplish, explore
and indulge on your nextruncation.
Hey, welcome to Not Yet episode300.

(00:41):
And I'm your longtime absenthost Amy.
Yes, we celebrated 300 episodesin 2024 and we can't thank
everybody enough for all thesupport, all the encouragement
and all your patience here atthe beginning of 2025.

(01:03):
Most of you know, if you'relongtime listeners to the show,
that my father went into thehospital on Christmas Day and
passed away on January 4th andhis memorial was February 7th.
We put the show on hold for thefirst couple of months in 2025,

(01:25):
for the first couple of monthsin 2025.
And my dad was always an avidlover of technology, very
passionate about In fact, he wasthe one, the first one to show
me about podcasting and embraceit.
And somewhere out there in theether is a podcast called Teach

(01:50):
your Tech Bytes.
That was a brainchild betweenus, between my dad and me, and
in this really difficult timewhen I miss him more than I can
say, when I miss him more than Ican say, coming back to
podcasting feels likereconnecting with him, and I

(02:18):
want to reconnect with everyonein the Runcation Nation.
We have missed accomplishing, exploring and indulging with you
.
We missed a big opportunity, nopun intended the Big Beach
Marathon weekend and a shout outto first time half marathoner
Eric and congratulations toeverybody in the Runcation

(02:38):
Nation who came along for thatmeetup that we could not come to
because we were taking care offamily and going through that
tremendous loss, and dana iscurrently out of town.
So I am recording this not anepisode to tell you what's been

(02:59):
going on, but solo.
But he will be back very soon, this weekend, and we will be
back to recording episodes.
In fact, we have an interviewcoming up in the feed from
Jessica Harley running gal onInstagram and Eric.
They're going to recap the bigbeach marathon weekend with us.

(03:21):
That's going to be our firstepisode back.
We have to get that recordedwith them.
We are trying to catch up withthem and we just want to shout
out Jessica and everybody in theRuncation Nation who
contributed to the gift basketsthat Jessica brought to the
house for me and for Dana.

(03:43):
So shout out to everybody whogot together and contributed to
these.
We haven't opened them yet andwe want to open them on a live
and we are in transition andgetting hooked up with a new
live streaming platform, sohopefully we will be back to

(04:07):
live streaming as well in thecoming couple of weeks heading
into March.
March is really our month togear back up and I know that
many of you are headed to theLittle Rock Marathon weekend and
we love that.
That's on our bucket list.
We want to wish everybody luckthere.
I think Susie is getting hernext state in her 50 state

(04:30):
journey and hopes to finish her50 state journey with Hawaii,
and I think that would be agreat way to honor Darlene, a
member of the Runcation Nationthat we lost also in January.
So 2025 has been a difficultyear to start off with, but we

(04:57):
are so lucky and we are soblessed to be a part of this
Runcation Nation community and,as I look at these gift baskets
that we will unbox on a livestream with you all, I can't
tell you how much all of yourtext messages and phone calls

(05:20):
and letters and cards and justdirect messages and text
messages and I've probably saidthings twice, but any way that
anybody reached out to us to letus know about Darlene who

(05:41):
passed away, who we miss, andshe'll always be.
She will always be much likeRob Nadeau, a member of the
Runcation Nation, and I thinkthat they are somewhere taking
beautiful photographs and bakingand loving life and hopefully

(06:02):
they get to be my dad, but yeah,so it's been a hopefully they
get to be my dad, but yeah, soit's been a little bit
challenging to get back torunning training and it's the
loss of anybody close to you.
I think it changes your world,it changes your life.
But I think that in thinkingabout this podcast and

(06:24):
connecting with my dad ontechnology like we always used
to do, he was so great to mewhen we were at Moffitt together
for the month he was up therefor that treatment that gave us
additional time to be with himand fought off the cancer a
little bit longer.
He watched me record an episodewith Dana while I was up there

(06:50):
with him and I was in the hotelroom and if you go back and look
at that video, I don't have todig to see what episode number
it was, but you can see my dadwaving from the bed in the
background and I think we wererecapping Gasparilla and our
unique meetup where Dana ran ina pirate costume and with

(07:12):
Darlene and Jojo and Susie andDawn, our skipping runner, and
it just and Jessica or Jesse Ialways call her Jessica, but I
know a lot of you call her Jesseand so just everybody that was
at that weekend.
I think of all these thingsbecause guessilla weekend just

(07:34):
went off this last weekend.
Congratulations to anybody whowent and partook there and best
of luck to all of you who aregoing to races this weekend,
including Little Rock, and Iknow that I said that at least
to Susie, and I know that I saidthat at least to Susie and I'm

(07:56):
updating you and weaving in someshout outs, if you will, and
some really heartfelt thanks andI think, in addition to
starting up our episodes againand capturing some Runcation
recaps that we really wanted to,and capturing some Runcation
recaps that we really wanted to,like Big Beach that's coming,

(08:22):
and some others that we wantedto get on the books from around
the world They'll be coming upin March as soon as we get
people back in the country andrecording with them after they
have experienced amazing raceweekends.
So that's coming up and we'regoing to get our race calendar
going again.
I just reached out to JeffGalloway, america's coach and
our coach and friend, who said Ican think of no better way to

(08:49):
celebrate your father than tocontinue to do your podcast and
feel that connection withtechnology and to run in 2025,
or run, walk, run, he says, indifferent races throughout the
year.
And a caller reached out to meon the phone as she was heading

(09:12):
to Gasparilla the year.
And a caller reached out to meon the phone as she was heading
to Gasparilla and she said Ijust want to give you a call and
see how you're doing and checkin with you, just like Susie,
just Jojo, just like Dawn, whosent a wonderful card, and Meg,
who reached out, and just Pamand Ariel from Pure Creative
Apparel.
And I can't I know I'm going toleave people out and I don't

(09:38):
mean to do that, but toeverybody, you know who you are,
who has contributed to these, who, all of you who contributed
to the baskets and who reachedout and connected, and just I in
all the different ways that youhave not just the basket but
and not just letters or cards orphone calls just seeing some of

(10:03):
you show up at my dad'smemorial service or watch it on
the Facebook live stream thatand send messages to me about
the service and about thememories we shared, and the
fellow coaches and players andstudents and teachers and just

(10:26):
my fellow former co-workers andcurrent co-workers who reached
out and sent flowers and sentplants and just keep checking in
on me.
I just cannot thank you enough.
And I reached out to Jeff andI'm still e-coaching with him

(10:47):
and he said let's get you backout there.
And I know that I'm combatingsome injury still and so is Dana
.
So I know he's taking a stepback from the running, but he
says he'll still do the eatingand drinking portions of the
show.
He will make the sacrifice andcome on the show and talk about

(11:09):
some of these delicious thingsthat we have gotten and some
places that he has been toexplore and indulge.

(11:51):
And we can't wait to get back totalking with all of you about
running, about where to go tohave that big celebratory meal
or that little celebratory bagelor maybe just that buffet at
the post hotel after a race orthe post-race party, and where
to have the ideal cup of coffeeafter the long or short races
where you have accomplished.
A cup of coffee, a Bloody Maryto honor Darlene.
We've seen that, we've seenJoJo celebrate 10 years at St
Jude and running as a St Judehero, and there are just so many

(12:12):
people in our lives that wewould not be connected to if you
hadn't found our podcast andstayed committed to listening
and downloading and showing upat races to meet and run and
support each other, or supporteach other virtually on a live,

(12:36):
when you couldn't travel to arace or run, virtually like we
did in 2020.
There are so many memories thatare in our feed at
runeatdrinknet and on anypodcatcher.
As Dana would say, we havemissed it so much and we
appreciate your patience as wetake care of what we need to

(12:57):
take care of.
So many of you have said, hey, take care of yourself, take care
of family, and we cannot thankyou enough for that.
And you have definitely puttogether a basket to honor our
little tagline, which isaccomplish, explore and indulge,

(13:20):
and I can tell you my fatheraccomplished so much in his life
and his Darlene did a marathonin every state.
My dad had many challenges inthe marathon of his life,
including the big one there atthe end with cancer, which stage
four non-Hodgkin's lymphoma andI, just when I look at all the

(13:42):
gifts and all the communication,I can just see that you have
honored his memory, hisaccomplishments and his life and
you're supporting us and wecan't tell you how much we love
you and how much we appreciateyou and how much we cannot wait
to get back to accomplishing, exploring and indulging with you

(14:05):
.
We are just starting back slowlyand we are going to do
Runcation recaps with everybodywho has been out there running.
So run, walking or just walking, not just walking, because
walking is completing too.
It doesn't matter how slow itis.
A mile is a mile, as we say.

(14:25):
We are back of the Packersthrough and through.

(15:11):
I'm not really sure what thelingo with the cool kids are
saying these days, but let usknow if you would like to
contribute.
We would love to have it.
It inspires us, it gets us backinto the groove as we restart
the training, or as I restartthe training plan, very slowly
and starting with small, shortdistances and building up in a

(15:36):
healthy and safe way, as JeffGalloway always recommends way,
always recommends.
So share your journeys with usand we will share our training
with you as we prepare to getback out there and take a
runcation with you in the nearfuture really soon.

(16:01):
So be on the lookout again forshows in our feed and we cannot
thank you enough for all thelove and support, all the food
and beverage and it's.
I think getting back to runningis going to be a really healthy

(16:21):
way to get somethingaccomplished for the emotional,
mental and physical health ofgrief, recovery and for training
and having a goal and lookingforward to ways that I can feel
connected to my father and allthat he overcame in his life and

(16:44):
all he accomplished in his lifeget connected to you all in our
community again.
And yeah it just.
There has been an absence and ahole where our coffee chats and
our live chats and our showshave been, and we can't wait to

(17:04):
get back to it and to share inthe struggles and agonies of
training around injuries andvery safely, and also
celebrating accomplishments intraining runs and in initial
races that we come back to.

(17:25):
We are so thankful to all ofyou for everything and we can't
wait to record these upcomingepisodes and release them, and
we want to say that weappreciate your patience and
support, all of our patrons thatwe owe content to for the last

(17:49):
couple of months, all of you inthe Runcation Nation on our
Facebook group and on our socialmedia channels.
We just really appreciate thesupport and the connection and
we can't wait to accomplish, explore and indulge with you

(18:10):
really soon.
