Speaker (00:01):
Welcome to Saddle Up Live.
I'm thankful that you're joining me today.
Really thankful.
And I am actually in my daughter'shouse that she's moving out
of, um, because she's coming.
back home, uh, getting, she'llbe done with her residency.
So she's getting a job near us.

(00:23):
So I am helping withOliver, which is really fun.
I just brought him to daycare andreally enjoying my time with him.
So I feel so blessed.
And what I want to share with you today iskind of to introduce this little session.
Today is actually the day that one yearago I learned that I had breast cancer.

(00:49):
Now, I ended up learning that Ihad, they caught stage one and
that, you know, they call me curednow, um, so that's a blessing.
But a year ago, I wasn't sure aboutthat, and it's been a journey, you know,
I did have to go through hard things.
I went through surgery and chemo andradiation and all that stuff can scare the

(01:10):
hell out of a girl, I'm gonna swear, yep.
and um, but when I look at todayand I see how I've grown and um, my
journey has strengthened, I wanna help.
You listeners by sharing mystory and what I keep learning.

(01:32):
So a year ago, I was terrified.
I, I had done a lot of work inmy life to discover things and to
try to get over an anxiety, but myanxiety for healthcare was at a high.
And as you know, I've worked through it.
I've had the blessingof surrendering to God.

(01:55):
Which is the biggest thing and movingforward and being less afraid like I
truly am less afraid and you can getthere, so That's kind of exciting.
You know, today is a new day.
Today, I know that this past year washard, but that I learned how to rest.

(02:16):
I'm writing a book, like, dedicatedto it, and gonna be talking about
some fun things coming up about that.
So, we've come full circle, and I wantedto use this episode to talk a little
bit, remember how I talked about gift?
It's a couple weeks ago and findingyour gifts and using them because when

(02:38):
you have that, when you are workingin your calling, which I do believe,
um, I've spent a lot of time and itmight keep ebbing and flowing that
as I change from doing more legalwork into doing mediations and now
my work is changing even more intothis podcast and into coaching and to
helping people stay married as well asamicably divorce, um, Using those gifts.

(03:04):
It's so important to go backand listen if you're trying to
figure out what your gifts are.
Today, what I want to share, because Ifeel excitement, is there are things that
I've learned, um, well, through the Bibleand through Tony Robbins, of course.
You know how much I love Tony.
And as I was, um, coming to mydaughter's home, it's quite a drive

(03:24):
and I listened to one of his books.
It was a really old one.
But it's always good for me to You know, take a step back and listen to things
that I've learned from him before.
And I thought it was really interestingbecause, um, what I listened to
from Tony was about personal power.

(03:44):
And we know, um, from past podcaststhat I love Tony's message of waking
up with scripture every, every dayto have God with you on your journey.
And that's been so important to me,uh, because it's part of my calling.
really keeps me grounded.
And so that's why I love Tony's message.

(04:04):
But this message is talking aboutpersonal power and about taking action.
And it was really interestingbecause in correlation with
that, the Bible study that I wasdoing was about Exodus and Moses.
And I thought, Oh, isn't it interestingthat when Moses, Moses parted the Red

(04:27):
Sea, God didn't just do it for him.
He said, Moses, raise yourarm, or whatever it was, and,
and that's how the sea parted.
So he used Moses actions.
And it was, and then, okay, so thenanother piece of my Bible study was
about how the Israelites kept wanting toleave, and Pharaoh kept saying they could

(04:50):
go, and then he would change his mind.
It's about being persistent andI thought, Oh, this is so cool.
Crazy that I get to all thesethings are coming together.
So the Tony Robbins personal powerand then the lessons through the Bible
that I never saw before about You knowtaking action And god will use you in

(05:12):
those actions Isn't that beautiful?
So I got really excited about that.
I heard a story.
This is funny about colonel Sanderswhich kind of ties in with this.
Okay, so we all know kentucky friedchicken I don't even know if they're
around anymore, but they were a bigdeal and they were successful This is
what I want you to know Do you know thatColonel Sanders started his pursuit of

(05:37):
the Chicken Empire at the age of 65?
That's when he started.
I'm not even 65.
And so if you're out there thinking thatyou can't do something, That isn't true.
And we all know that, that, you know,if you believe you can't, you can't.
And if you believe you can, you can't.
Well, Colonel Sandersbelieved that he could.

(05:57):
And what was so interesting about him, well, one, I love that he started at 65.
So I feel like I've gotthe world all ahead of me.
And you know what we do, no matter whatage, um, and he got, uh, 1, 009 no's.
before he got a yes.
So if you think about that like I thinkI've spent a lot of my life where I've

(06:20):
been like oh well God shut the door soI'm just gonna turn around and leave
well you know what that may not be true.
Pharaoh kept saying no you have to believeit and keep moving Forward to get it and
you know, that's kind of my story withmy book and I'm actually taking action

(06:42):
I can't tell you about it today, but Iwill be able to tell you more about it in
upcoming podcast but I am taking actionand I'm doing it and That's scary to me.
Just like things that you're doingare scary to you, but Just as a baby
like think about a little baby andthey start walking When do they quit?

(07:04):
When do they quit trying to walk?
They don't.
They don't quit until they walk.
Look at that example, and I amstealing that from Tony Robbins,
but that example carries me.
You don't quit until youget to where you want to go.
And I think what's important aboutthat is you need faith plus works.

(07:31):
So you need that energy and excitementand you can, you can make that up.
Like I'm not kidding, I think I've saidin the past, I can be super down and
downtrodden and I get up and I jumpand I dance around and it does help.
It's weird, I know, but it helpsand that's why moving your body,
going out for a walk is alwaysso, um, good for your whole self,

(07:54):
your whole body, your whole brain.
So you need that energy, excitement.
And you also need to be able todefine exactly what you want.
And that's what I've noticed withthe NLP work that I've been doing.
Marie keeps saying, well, what do you want?
And it's hard.
And, and go back to that gifts too, tofigure out what your gifts are, because

(08:15):
it's a little bit tied to what you want.
So figure out what you wantand make sure that's a skill.
And, um, it's hard to define becauseI, you know, you, I want success.
And I want to take careof my grandchildren.
So, you want both, right?

(08:36):
But you have to know what you want, and to keep going until you get it.
It doesn't mean that you have tohurt anyone, or that you can't
be meeting the needs of yourfamily, because you want that too.
So, those are skills that Tony talksabout needing, is the discipline and the
faith, so it's the faith plus the work.

(08:59):
Knowing that you can do it just like ababy they don't know that they know that
they're gonna walk eventually it's just inthem know that and then know what you want
so I'm just I'm looking at my notes he hadfive agree I think he had seven agreements
and I changed to five because I likefive of them and what I liked about this

(09:22):
is I always act from personal power andtake action I always succeed in producing
a result So, think about it this way.
There are no failures.
There are just results.
So when Colonel Sanders was goingout and asking people, Hey, do you

(09:42):
want to try this chicken recipe?
And they said, No, that was a result.
Don't beat yourself up.
We're all done with that, right?
Guys, we don't need to do that anymore.
We are learning and growing and youare acting toward getting a result.
So it's not about What that result isit's about learning from it and moving

(10:03):
and going again for another result.
So no failure just results I wish Iwould have taught my kids that more You
know, like why are mistakes so negative?
They're not we're learning always.
Okay.
Here's the second thing that I love Iam totally responsible for my world.
Now, you know, I carry God with me,but I am responsible for my world.

(10:28):
I am responsible for how I am treated.
I am responsible for how I feel.
So when you look at it that way youtake control and you set boundaries
and you you change your life.
Now this piece number two isabout my, a lot about mindset.

(10:49):
And so I have lots of podcasts onthat and I'm working on a course
about that, but that also is such ahuge, um, piece of this because, you
know, you think about a year ago.
So I got diagnosed with stage one breastcancer and I took A long time to learn
that because I had surgery in April andyou know, they learned more from that.

(11:13):
And so I kept hearing goodthings, but it was scary.
So I took responsibility for how I felt.
I did go in on anxiety medicationbecause I was so scared and
I needed to pull out of it.
And then I worked on mymindset and I did what I could.

(11:34):
I took care of myself, I rested, Iwalked, and I learned things that
I'm going to be putting in my bookto help us through hard times, to
help us thrive through hard times.
So that, I mean, what a blessing, right?
Okay, here's the third one, whichI love, which has been new to me.
I'm always stretchingand making it public.

(11:56):
So, like, I'm writing my book.
Now, I did say that years ago.
I was going to write a book about,um, adoption, and that still
might be something that I do.
Always stretch.
Because I have kept myself fromstretching because I, you know,
me, I'm a people pleaser and I,what are people going to think?

(12:17):
Or, you know, what if I say I'mwriting the book and it turns out only
being a book that's here to help me?
Well, then it's a bookthat's here to help me.
And so I'm going to continue to stretchand I'm going to, and I'll tell you
in another episode, um, some thingsthat I'm doing that I'm stretching.
to get this book done and toreally work on it and to really

(12:39):
do it and to believe that I can.
And there's exciting things about that.
And yeah, I can go, um, Idon't know how to write.
I don't know if I can do it.
Well, I can share my stories.
I've been through things and I justwant God to use me to help you.
So I am going to keep stretching.
And I can do that in so many ways.

(12:59):
I can do that through horses causeI get scared of horses sometimes.
Well, I can keep working on that fear.
I'm afraid to, you know, do a podcast.
I'm afraid to go on podcasts whileI've been stretching and going on them.
So I'm not afraid of podcasts anymore.
I did get over that, but, um, so that'sthe third one is to always stretch.

(13:23):
The fourth is, um, to modelsomeone who is already doing it.
And it just helps to watch someone andI've learned, I have learned to pay good
money for getting someone to help mewho's already done it and that is the real

(13:44):
way to do it and that's kind of what I'mtrying to do with going through this hard
thing and learning, I wanted to help you.
So model somebody who'ssuccessful in what you want to do.
And sometimes I rememberfeeling like, well, no one's
doing exactly what I'm doing.
And I had a little bit ofa struggle finding someone.

(14:06):
to model because my mediationbusiness was, um, different.
So what I would do is I would find peoplewho were doing different things, like
this person was doing a podcast and thisperson was doing this and model them.
But what I had to remember was that I amone person and my family is important too.
And so I could get really wrapped upin, Oh, I've got to do 5, 000 Instagram

(14:31):
posts and I need to get followers.
And if you look at my Instagram, I don'thave a ton of followers because I haven't
been putting the effort into that.
because I can't right now.
I, you know, maybe at some point I'llhire someone and do more, but you
have to have realistic expectationstoo, so that you're not harming anyone
along the way that's important to you.

(14:53):
And that kind of flows intoalways act from integrity.
Um, You know, sometimes we cantry to do things quicker or cheat
on your taxes or whatever it is.
Let's work hard not to do that.
Let's, um, let our word bewhat our word is and act with

(15:15):
integrity and follow your values.
Um, it's important.
It's so important.
brings you some peace.
So that was the fifth one.
Um, I did want to say in number four, whenI was talking about modeling someone's
behavior, I'm going to jump back to thatone because I missed it in my notes.

(15:38):
Um, I have seven charactertraits of successful people
that I got from Tony Robbins.
So this is kind of part of that modeling.
They have passion that drives them.
So that's what you think about.
What are your gifts?
What do you like to do?
And you have a passion that drivesyou because that's your calling.

(16:00):
So these people have passion.
They have a belief in theirability to achieve just like the
toddler who's starting to walk.
It's that simple.
Have belief.
And like I said before, either ifyou believe you can, you can, if
you believe you can't, you can't.

(16:20):
And of course, we havephysical limitations.
So, you know, be aware of that, but you can you can do it.
Okay.
The 3rd thing is they have a strategy.
So.
It is important to, and that's where Iwas telling you that I use these people
that are successful and model after them, and I use their strategies in my life.

(16:42):
And that's where that mindsetcomes in, that you can go back
and listen to that podcast.
They have a great energy level.
They're connected with others.
They value working with otherpeople and they develop, the last

(17:03):
one is they develop communication.
And I love communication and it's soimportant how we communicate with our
loved ones, including ourselves, right?
I think that sometimes we can.
Forget to talk loving to our husband, forget to be encouraging to our children.

(17:24):
And honeys, those are, they are likethe most important people, right?
And so are you.
And so when you think about how you'retalking to yourself, That is so key.
Tell yourself, like, what youwould tell a good friend or
someone that you care about.

(17:44):
Tell yourself that you're beautiful.
Tell yourself that, oh, well, youknow, look at what you learned.
Don't focus on what you didn't learn.
So.
And that is it for today.
This went longer than I usually, whenI'm by myself I usually go shorter,
but I wanted to share that with you.
And I am going to be doing some ofthese solo because I'm traveling

(18:07):
around trying to help out my kiddosand um, helping with grandkids.
But I'm so happy, so grateful, and so thankful, uh, for where
things have ended up this year.
And I'm thankful for what I, thankful forwhat I've been through, and I'm thankful
for all of you, so you take good care.
