Speaker 1 (00:03):
have you ever felt
like your team thinks you just
sit in the office watchingInstagram reels all day, while
they're out there doing the realwork Like?
You bring in guests, pay thebills, you run the marketing,
you build the brand and stillsomeone on your team assumes
you're just in the backscrolling TikTok with your feet
up?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, let's be honest
, you guys, that stings because
you know how much weight youcarry, you know how many nights
you've laid awake wondering howto make payroll or how to get
more traffic in the door.
But most of that it's invisible.
But today we're going to breakthat invisibility wide open
(00:46):
because we're talking about thetrue value a commissioned salon
owner brings to the table andhow to help your team finally
see the power of what you do.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, all right, so
let's go.
So the one thing we want tostart with is one of the most
important responsibilities of asalon owner is bringing in new
guests.
Like in a well-run commissionedsalon salon, you know, the
owner is the engine.
Like you're running the ads, you're building the brand,
you're creating content, you'resending emails you could go on
(01:22):
and on.
Like partnering with localbusinesses showing up in your
community, and what does thatcreate?
It creates one thing traffic, you know.
So imagine this like your salonbrings in a hundred new guests
every single month.
Now, that's a hundred fresh, fresh opportunities for your
team, a hundred chances tocreate raving fans, repeat
business, retail sales,referrals and, ultimately,
(01:46):
growth for them.
That is the value of a salonowner who knows how to market.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I love that, you know
, and if you're not there yet
and that number feels out ofreach, I get it.
That's why we're here.
Go ahead and text the word 100to 469-283-5590.
You can find that number downin the show notes too, and we'll
connect with you directlybecause, you guys, we have a
(02:13):
limited number of coaching spotsopen and we'd love to help you
build a business that cansustain and scale.
You know that kind of guestflow.
You know you need a minimum ofa hundred new guests each month
and we want to help you be ableto get that right away.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah.
So let's talk about somethingthat creeps up on every salon,
in any business really, and it'sattrition.
So even the best guestexperiences can't prevent it
entirely.
You know people move, budgetsshift, life happens.
You know people move, budgets, shift, life happens.
But the industry average isabout 15% loss per year.
(02:50):
So the attrition rate in ourindustry is about 15%.
So if you think about that, like if you're a solo service
provider, right, and that kindof dip is devastating, 15% like
you will feel it instantly inyour income, your energy, like
your momentum.
But that's the power of acommission salon, especially a
(03:10):
commission salon with the ownerwho knows how to generate
traffic.
You know that loss is covered, like if you already replaced the
guests that you've lost, sometimes before you even
realize they're gone.
And so this is the power ofhaving a system and that is the
gift you give your team, whetherthey realize it or not.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
I love that.
You know, jen, it makes methink of I just recently had a
beauty pro?
Um from our team who left to gosomewhere else because, you
know, they didn't have any rulesor it was kind of just, you
know, a free for all.
And you know, somebodymentioned not that long ago that
they had spoken with her andshe said, man, I wish I wouldn't
(03:50):
have left right before summerbecause it's really slow and the
truth is it's never going to bebusy, no matter what time of
year it is Um, because that thatsalon owner doesn't view
themselves as a salon owner.
You know, they're just there tohave a space.
They're trying to just coverrent and you know, that's why
(04:10):
it's a free for all.
It's no judgment on theirbusiness.
Everybody gets the opportunityto create whatever it is they
want to create.
But you know, let's get realabout what's actually happening
and what we're actuallyproviding, you know.
And so when our teamunderstands the value that we're
bringing to the table, they cansee why this matters to them.
(04:30):
So let's go ahead and breakdown the numbers, you know.
But first let's get real aboutsomething that causes a lot of
tension and that's profit.
So let's say you're a salonowner making $10,000 a month in
profit.
We're just using this for easymath, you guys, to follow along.
You know, let's say you have 10stylists and you know, from the
(04:53):
outside someone might whisperwow, the owner is making a
thousand dollars off of each ofus.
But let's flip that because, let's say, one stylist is seeing
20 new guests a month Thanks toyour marketing efforts.
You know that average ticket is$150.
(05:15):
Let's say, you know they'reretailing, they're rebooking,
they're retaining, so they aremaking anywhere between four to
$6,000 more every month.
That's more every month becauseyou brought in that traffic.
So that's $1,000 that you'remaking.
It's not a fee, it's amon-umentum investment.
(05:40):
You know, think of all themomentum that you create for
them.
You know that's returning tothem 3X, 4x, even 5X for your
team.
You guys, we need to stopthinking in terms of division
and start thinking in terms ofmultiplication.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
You know I think
about investing money.
When you said that, lindsay, like I would love to get four
times, five times the return onany investment I do, and like we
do that for our teams everysingle day and sometimes they
don't even realize it.
So that was just reallypowerful the way you.
You said that it's I love whatyou said, and stop thinking in
(06:21):
terms of did you say division, and start thinking in terms of
multiplication.
That's so powerful and we knowthat.
You know visibility buildstrust.
But here's the problem yourteam doesn't see what they're
not told.
You know they see you walk intothe office with your laptop and
unless you show them, theyassume the worst.
(06:44):
And that's where we, as leaders, have to own it.
You have to start startshowcasing and showing what
you're doing, showing your work.
You know talk about the emailcampaign you're building and how
many, what the open rate was.
You know share the Instagramreel that brought in eight new
guests.
You know tell them about the adthat cost $80 and booked three
(07:05):
new, brand new extension guests.
And when your team sees theeffort, they start to understand
the impact.
Like you're not just runningnumbers, you're fueling careers.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I love that you are
fueling careers, and that's a
beautiful way to say that.
You know, and and truly, whatwe're trying to do here is to
create presence over panic.
You know, because let's talkabout energy.
You know it's one of the mostoverlooked leadership traits and
this is the one thing that'sthe most overlooked leadership
(07:39):
trait, and that's presence.
It's not performance, notperfection, it's presence.
You know your team doesn't needyou to micromanage, but they do
need to feel you, walking incalm, greeting people by name.
You know, asking a stylist howtheir rebook rate is going.
You know telling another onethat you saw their amazing post
(08:01):
on their stories, or you know, whatever it is, you don't need
hours, you need intention, because when your team feels
your presence, they trust yourleadership, and when they trust
your leadership, they stopquestioning your value.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
So good.
So here's the message we'retaking back.
We're taking back to our teamsLike, yes, you create the
culture, yes, you pay the bills, yes, you handle the stress, but
, more than that, you'rebringing in the traffic that
builds their dreams.
You're not scrolling reels inthe back, like you're creating a
system that gives themstability.
You're not taking a cut.
(08:37):
You're not scrolling reels inthe back, like you're creating a
system that gives themstability.
You're not taking a cut, you'remultiplying their impact.
And when you're not invisible, you, unless you choose to be
like you're not invisible unlessyou choose to be.
I just like, if you reallythink about that, wow, it's
sharing all of these things, like educating them what they
don't know, they don't know like, really helps to create that
impact.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
So what's the next
move?
You know, start showing yourteam the value that you bring.
You know, share your marketingwins, be present on the floor,
teach them the math, celebratethe new guest count every month.
You know, and if again, ifyou're not hitting that a
hundred guest mark and you wantto text 100, just the number 100
(09:20):
to 4, 6, 9, 2, 8, 3, 5, 5, 9, 0.
And we'll reach out, because wehave a limited number of
coaching spots and this kind ofmomentum changes everything, not
just for you, but for thepeople that you lead.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Yeah, because at the
end of the day, they think
you're just scrolling, but you, you're building an empire.
We'll see you on the nextepisode.
