Giving Up or Giving In: Part 2

The concept of giving up or giving in is vividly illustrated in the narrative of the Prophet Balaam. The pivotal decision he faced was whether to remain or depart, ultimately determining the position of his allegiance. While his mind was steadfast in his devotion to God, his heart was torn between two paths. This divided state led him to a profound lesson that ultimately resulted in his death. This scenario serves as a symbolic representation of the Western Church. Just as Balaam was once a designated prophet appointed by God, his divided heart ultimately led him to be a self-appointed prophet. Many individuals who identify as Christians have experienced a similar trajectory, becoming self-appointed Christians due to a heart divided that results in a lifestyle that is conformed to the ways of the world. Consequently, their spiritual journey culminates in a state of spiritual death. However, we retain the option to relinquish our desires and surrender to the heart of God.
