Release Date: 04/24/25
Episode Title: This Is Terrifying, But I’m Doing It Anyway

✨ Episode Summary:
ā€œThe only wrong thing is staying silent.ā€
Whew. That one hit me hard—and it might hit you too.

In this episode, I’m sharing what political fear really feels like, especially when you're an anxious, introverted human who hates calling strangers, let alone senators. But here’s the truth: the world doesn’t need more polished voices—it needs more real ones. And if you’ve ever thought, ā€œWho am I to speak up?ā€ā€”this one’s for you.

You’ll hear:
Ā šŸ’„ My personal story of getting past paralysis and sending that first email
Ā šŸ“¬ How to write your own email (no phone calls required!)
Ā šŸ—³ļø Where to find your local reps—yes, even city-level
Ā ā¤ļø And the reminder that being awkward, afraid, or unsure doesn't disqualify you from showing up—it qualifies you to lead in your own powerful way.

We are awkward activists. And we’re rising—together.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is terrifying, but I'm doing it anyway.
I would rather binge watchOutlander, which I love, and
avoid the news entirely, buthere I am stepping into
something that absolutelyterrifies me, because staying
silent isn't an option anymore.
If you've ever felt paralyzedby fear, overwhelmed by the

(00:23):
thought of speaking up, orunsure of what activism even
looks like for someone like you, this episode is for you.
I'm Christy Chanel, and this isSassy Politics.
I need to be honest.

(00:45):
I am not the girl who'scomfortable calling senators or
showing up to city hall with amegaphone.
I'm not fearless, I'm notpolished, I am deeply
introverted and I get anxiousover a phone call, let alone
confronting someone in power, confronting someone in power.

(01:08):
But the world we're living inright now, it's pushing us to
find courage in ways we neverthought we needed to, and for me
, that starts with writing, babysteps, a first email, and I'm
doing it, terrified or not, andI hope you'll do it with me.
This is the year of doingthings for the first time my
first protest, my first viralvideo, my first time really

(01:29):
stepping into this voice.
I didn't even know I had, andactually it's not my first viral
video, but it's my biggestvideo to date and now, my first
time writing to my electedofficials.
I don't know what will come ofit, but I do know that the only
way through fear is through it.
And if you're like me and feelparalyzed at the idea of doing

(01:51):
it wrong, here's the truth.
The only wrong thing is stayingsilent.
Remember that.
I know you might be listeningin your car right now thinking
Christy, you have officiallylost your damn mind.
I am not calling my senator andI get it Truly.
I used to think who am I tospeak up?

(02:11):
I'm not a lawyer, not apolitical expert.
I am just a working womantrying to raise a family and
hold it all together.
But I realized that is whoactivism really means Regular
people, imperfect people,introverts.
Introverts, women who are tired, scared, unsure and still

(02:38):
showing up, because if we don'tspeak up, others will speak for
us.
So here's what we're going todo.
We're going to write an emailtogether.
I'm giving you a sample scriptat the end of this episode.
I'm linking to my Dallas Countyreps in the show notes, and if
you live somewhere else, thereis a national tool in the show

(02:58):
notes as well, and if you needhelp, email me.
I will send you the template.
Personally, you're not alone inthis.
We're learning together, onestep, one email, one act of
bravery at a time.
Fear is valid, but fear can't bethe only thing that makes our
choices for us.

(03:19):
Most people, statistically, don't get involved in politics
because they feel too small toreally even matter, too
introverted, too confused.
But you know what?
And there are more of us thanthere are of them, and it's time
we get loud.
Cue Jennifer Lopez.

(03:41):
All right, I can't afford that, but if I could, it would be
right there.
I'm not scared to send an email, because I don't know how I send
emails every day at work.
I'm scared because this onemight get me flagged or thrown
on some government list or worse.
But guess what?
My digital footprint is alreadythe size of Texas.

(04:04):
So screw it, I'm sending itanyway.
And next time, next time wetackle the dreaded phone call.
Yes, I said it, this isterrifying, but I'm doing it
anyway, because this is our yearof firsts and silence.

(04:26):
Silence isn't an option anymore.
The links are in the show notes, the email template is in there
too, and my inbox Open.
You ready, let's write it,let's rise, let's fucking go.
Love you, miss you, bye.
