đŸŽ™ïž Special Report: The Hands Off Movement Just Redefined Political Protest

What was supposed to be 500K turned into 5 million voices across all 50 states—and this wasn’t chaos, it was clarity. From Boomers bringing that vintage righteous rage to first-timers finding their fire, the Hands Off rallies weren’t just protests—they were presence.

I stepped off the DART train into Dealey Plaza expecting nerves. I found community. Water bottles passed hand-to-hand, strangers holding space for strangers, and the undeniable electricity of people who are done being silent.

We’re rising because: đŸ©ž Abortion is banned in 20+ states
🧬 IVF & birth control are under threat
🌈 500+ anti-trans bills are trying to erase lives
And guess what? We’re not shrinking—we’re organizing.

This episode is your recap, your rally cry, and your reminder that the revolution is already happening.

đŸ”„ Catch up on this week’s drops from the Sassy Politics universe:

🎧 Mindf*ck Monday – The economy’s in free fall, TikTok’s melting down, and I just launched my new segment “50 States of WTF” to keep you in the loop when the courts go rogue. Oh—and that SAVE Act? Yeah, it’s worse than you think.

đŸŽ€ Woke-ish Wednesday – I’m done softening my edges. Playing nice never protected trans kids, and it sure as hell won’t save democracy. This one’s personal—and it’s for anyone who's tired of censoring themselves to stay likable.

💄 Female Friday – What does it really feel like to step into your power? I talk about the fortune teller who saw this coming, the family who no longer supports me, and the love my mother poured into me so I could be ready for this moment.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What do you get when millions of people, hundreds of
cities and a bunch of fired upboomers say not today, fascism.
You get a movement.
You get us.
You get hands off.
Let's talk about the rallies, the power, the community and how

(00:21):
Dallas brought the heat.
This is Sassy Politics and, baby, the fight has just begun.
I'm Christy Chanel and this isSassy Politics.

(00:41):
This wasn't just a march, it wasa movement.
Over 1,300 events, all 50states.
More than 500,000 people wereexpected, but the turnout Easily
in the millions.
I'm hearing 5 million Roughestimate, but that's what I'm
hearing.
New York, City and DC each saw100,000 each City and DC each

(01:01):
saw 100,000 each Rally.
North Carolina expected 2,000and got 45,000.
And the real plot twist theboomers yes, the generation we
side-eye for Facebook commentswas out there, showing up,
shouting loud and saying not onour watch.
In Dallas, the boomer crowd wasnot playing.

(01:24):
They came with signs, sneakersand decades of rage to unleash,
and I was so here for it.
Let's talk about my city, dallas, texas.
We rallied at Dealey Plaza andthe energy was electric.
Hundreds gathered, not justbodies but hearts and souls.

(01:47):
And purpose.
Dallas showed up.
I saw strangers becoming family, water being passed out, tears
being shared and folks holdingsigns like armor.
It wasn't just a protest, itwas a presence.
So let's talk about my Dallasrally.
It was my first one.
I was nervous.
I was nervous.

(02:07):
I've never been part of a march, ever.
I've wanted to, but I alwayshad it in my head that it would
be violent and I would need bailmoney, and probably those
things are are very, very truethese days but I didn't need
either one Knock on wood.
I was reading the emails and itwas showing you how to
de-escalate violence or hecklers, haters, whatever you want to

(02:31):
call them and bring water.
We have signs if you don't havea sign and all those things
that I was like okay, I mean, yeah, let's do this.
So we took a dart train overthere.
I met my friend, lisa, and shehad a couple of friends coming
as well, because I didn't reallyhave anybody here that would go
to a protest with me.
So we met at the train stationand as we're standing there

(02:54):
waiting for the train, a ladywalks up and all I saw was Fox
on the outside of her shirt andI'm like, oh shit, fox News
lover.
And she's like are you here forthe rally?
And we're both side eyeing herand she's like and we're like,
yeah, what does your shirt say?
And it was basically fuckDonald Trump, you know Foxtrot,

(03:16):
whatever it is, I don't evenknow.
So we just started talkingabout it and it was.
It was.
I started to feel the energybefore we even got on the train.
And then more people arrivedand they had their signs and
they were excited.
And then we got on the trainand I met more people on the
train, as they were as we weremaking stops on the way to
downtown Dallas.
There was other people gettingon the train and they were

(03:37):
excited and the energy wasstarting to become palpable.
It was, you could just feel it,it was electric.
And then we get there and wewalk downtown and we're kind of
early.
It starts at three, so we getthere, probably like two thirty,
and you can see crowds arestarting to gather the streets.
The streets are still open atthis point.
Decide, I'm going to go live.

(03:58):
I go live on TikTok and it wasreally cool.
I got some gifts on there whichI'd never gotten, some really
big ones.
I didn't even notice and I feelbad about that Because I was
too busy in the whole thing.
I didn't even notice, but Inoticed later because I watched
back the video that I that Irecorded and I saw some really
sweet gifts.
So I mean, I don't want to makeyou jealous, but I made almost
$3.

(04:19):
I'm just playing.
No, I'm not.
I really did.
I made $3.
It was not the reason.
I just wanted to show peoplethat Dallas is really blue.
I know everybody thinks Texasis fully red, but it's not.
Dallas is definitely blue.
And then we began to march.
It's a hard thing to explain ifyou don't experience it

(04:41):
yourself.
But people were kind.
I want to do it again.
I just feel like it's like abig party for everybody that
feels.
You know, maybe it's a way tojust expel all of the nerves and
all of the, the problems, thesadness, the worry, the anxiety

(05:02):
that we're all feeling.
We get a chance to just be in abig open environment and just
scream at the top of our lungs, you know and cheer and just get
it out.
Everybody needs that outlet andthat's what it was for me.
It was amazing and I'm very, very excited to do it again.
So one of the things that I keepseeing is now what?

(05:26):
Oh, we made a big difference.
Oh, you made a big change.
What you don't see is thepeople that you meet that you
would not have known about hadyou not gone to this rally.
It's really simple.
You don't expect to make theworld change because you went to
a rally.
I think a lot of MAGA aremissing the point of a rally

(05:51):
because when they rallied, theybroke in to the Capitol and were
violent and destructive.
We have no desire to do that.
That's not what it's about forus.
We want the opposite of whatthe Trump administration is
giving us.
Does that make sense?
We're not just angry, we'reorganized.

(06:12):
This was a nonviolent protestand it showed elders, teens,
members of the LGBTQ pluscommunity, veterans, moms with
strollers, dogs all out theresaying the same thing Hands off.
What blew me away was the lovePeople checking on each other,
sharing shade under signs, lifting each other up, literally

(06:34):
and spiritually.
This wasn't chaos.
This was community care inaction.
But let's not sugarcoat it.
This wasn't just a kumbayasession.
Women's rights are fully underattack.
Since Roe vs Wade wasoverturned, 20 plus states have
full or near total abortion bans.

(06:55):
Some offer no exceptions forrape or incest.
Ivf, birth control and eventravel for care are on the
chopping block.
They're not pro-life, they'reanti-woman, anti-choice and
anti-freedom.
Over 500 anti trans bills havebeen introduced in the US.

(07:17):
They're banninggender-affirming care, policing
bathrooms, erasing identitiesfrom schools and libraries, and
it's not protecting children,it's erasure.
It's inhumane.
Every single protester was aspeaker.
Every voice, every chant, everyclap back power.

(07:40):
And this wasn't just US-basedProtests popped off in London,
berlin, paris, toronto, nairobiand Mexico City, because
injustice anywhere is a threateverywhere.
This was a beautiful uprising, but it's not the end.
The love is real, the fire islit and the fight it's just

(08:03):
begun.
I'm Christy Chanel, and this isSassy Politics.
Love you, miss you, bye you.
