Welcome back to another episode of savvy

(00:02):
geeks.
I'm your host, mark savvy.
So excited to talk about Sean G.
Wow.
This movie had some of the bestaction sequences Marvel's ever
done.
It was so innovative andexciting.
And new, fresh, all the buzzersyou want to give Sean.

(00:22):
She had that.
I know it didn't do well at thebox office.
You know what, actually, Iconsider it a success.
Because$432 million box officeon a$200 million budget.
Is a success in my opinion, butI feel like Marvel may have
wanted a little bit more becauseof the success of some of their
past films.
Some of the films we've covered.

(00:43):
Um, but it was during COVID.
It was around that time wherepeople were still trying to
figure out if they're going tocome back to the theaters.
So what Sean, she did, what itdid, which is still pretty good.
I think a lot of people werepleasantly surprised.
I mean, the fans.
I just wonder if the studioswere okay with it.
It doesn't even matter though, because this movie was a success
in my mind.

(01:03):
I loved it.
Similarly you is, um, he's fromToronto.
He's known for a localtelevision show called Kim's
convenience.
And I met him in person and heis such a nice guy.
I got him to sign a.
The first appearance of Seancheek comic.
He was so nice about it.
It was at a fan expo.
I asked him what his favorite.

(01:23):
Uh, bubble Boba tea places.
Listen, this was before any ofthat stuff happened with him and
shark tank.
Or is it dragons?
And I forget the Canadian onebut way before any of that stuff
happened.
I saw previous interview beforeI met him where he talked about.
How much he loved it, the drank.
And he mentioned a place thatyou'd like to go to and I forgot
what it was.
So I just asked him.
What his favorite place to go tois he was really nice about it.

(01:46):
Really sweet guy.
So happy for this success.
He's had.
I just feel like.
I feel like Marvel made amistake.
With what, with how theyproceeded post shank G.
And what I mean by that is.
Sean CI's should have been thelinchpin of this next phase.
I think they should have ledwith Sean cheat.
Dr.
Strange and Spiderman.

(02:07):
Those should have been the main.
Characters.
Pushing this next era of Marvel.
Yeah.
They'll, you'll introduce somenewer stuff.
I get it.
Like Wanda vision was excellent.
But I feel like Sean, she was sogood.
It was such a good opportunityto kind of integrate this new
looming threat into the MCU withthe 10 rings and Tala being this

(02:31):
pocket universe connected toours.
They just left it.
Like we should've had a.
TV show about his sister runningthe 10 rings we should have had.
Uh, Sean movie already by now, where we delve more into what
the 10 rings are.
And as you saw on the postcredit, like there.

(02:52):
They're connected to somethingthat we still don't know what it
is.
The movie came out three yearsago.
It's time for the second one.
And we don't even have an updateof when they're starting a film.
So that movie is easily like twoyears away.
Does it make sense?
You had a really good movie.
It did really well for the timethat it came out.
It was so fresh, so exciting.

(03:13):
They should have done way morewith it.
And they did it and that's whatsucks.
And they still probably, well, but it didn't happen quick
enough.
We're not going to get anyshonky update.
Like I said no new, um, No new, like filming updates for a
while.
Probably.
And that's what sucks.
Like they should've already beendone the movie.
They haven't even startedfilming it yet.

(03:34):
We don't have any updates yet.
Daniel Creston is I'm assumingcoming back, but I haven't seen
any updates of that.
Who's going to be the villain.
We didn't know anything.
They haven't even written ityet.
And I that 10 rank show that'snot going to happen.
Like it would have happenedalready.
What is all this like, that wasit.
That would have been a great wayto introduce Sean cheat to

(03:54):
Spiderman.
Cause the 10 rings could havemoved to.
New York.
And it could have had this.
They could have had this gritty, like crime street-level crime
drama with Spiderman fighting, the 10 rings that have been so
epic.
And then Sean cheat comes in andmaybe they like, he helps him at
the end of the Spider-Man movie.
And then at the end of theSpider-Man movie, that's when.

(04:14):
The multi-vessel threat.
Comes in and they all bandtogether.
Like, I dunno, I'm just spitballing off the top of my head,
but there's so many.
There's so many avenues theycould have gone.
And I feel like they lost theirweight.
I know I keep saying it, but Ilove Marvel.
I loved, I have loved every I'veenjoyed as well.
I should say every movie I'vewatched so far.
Marvel has not missed for me.

(04:34):
I love Marvel.
I always well.
They just don't have a bigpicture view of what they should
be doing.
Shank.
She should have been thelinchpin of the universe.
And I'm not saying it becauseI'm parked impartial.
Or I'm partial to Sima Leo causehe's from Toronto and I met him
and he's a nice guy.
He could have been a piece ofshit.
And I still would've said theyshould've made him a linchpin of
the universe.

(04:55):
It's not personal feelings.
Don't get in the way of what Ithink should be done here.
And the, when we, I wish when wedidn't die, he was such a good.
Villain.
I really loved.
The introduction of Taobao andthe epic dragon fight, I could
go.
So long, like I loved how wehave, um, Aquafina's character,

(05:16):
how she's not really a loveinterest.
She's just a friend.
It's so nice to have just afriend.
You know, it feels like everysingle show, they have to have
some kind of love and trust, butit seemed like they were just
really good friends.
Maybe they explore that later, but in this film, that's all it
was.
It was really cool seeing, um,Abomination with Wong.
That was a really nice, like, was she built there?

(05:37):
And Macau was sick.
Imagine she builds that in NewYork, they have an underground
fight ring with rhino orsomething, and then he gets out
and that's all Spiderman getsinvolved.
Are I'm just spitballing.
That would've been cool.
Uh, yeah.
Uh, similarly is an absoluteperfect lead.
I feel like he's been in a lotof villain roles lately, but I
want to see him in more hero.

(05:58):
Protagonists kind of roles goingforward.
Which he.
Um, he's gotta be a big part of.
Secret wars.
Uh, it has to be the 10.
I don't even, you know what, Idon't even know what they're
doing anymore.
Like, I'm just going to startventing at this point.
'cause I just can't believe.
I can't believe that it's beenthree years.
Since Sean, she has come out andthere isn't one update.
Why not put a second one out bynow?

(06:21):
Like, come on.
What are you doing?
Put these movies out.
People want to see them.
Sean, Sean.
She was one of the mostinnovative Marvel films they've
ever done.
It was so rich in history andculture and.
The action was so different thananything Marvel's ever done.
Why won't, why would they pushmore stuff like that?
Come on.
You didn't, he could have goneto, I w you know what?

(06:43):
I would even buy a Shaun chainSpiderman team up.
Street level.
Uh, kind of defenders, low leveltype shit.
Shift where they're justfighting in the streets.
Like there's no like crazy, likealien threat, you know, we, we
see.
Spider-Man where he's meant tobe showing she can come in
there.
Epic action.

(07:03):
So I think I could see a spiderman and Sean cheat team up
happening.
I prefer individual moves, but Icould see it happening.
It was funny.
Similarly, it was really funny, but I didn't think it was, I
don't th I didn't think hischaracter was that funny.
I thought the funniest elementof the film came from Trevor
Slater.
It was so good.
And the little guy, littlemonster that was his buddy.

(07:24):
So funny.
Aquafina was pretty good too.
I really love to sister shoe.
So bad-ass the one thing thatkind of.
Confused me as do the, if any ofmy listeners are from that part
of the world.
Please let me know.
They don't actually buildscaffolds.
With bamboo and tie themtogether.
With ropes, right.
That doesn't make any sense tome that feels like a disaster

(07:46):
waiting to happen.
I don't know.
Let me, let me know in thecomments, if you, if you've been
there, if you can vouch forthat.
All the elements are there forTo come in.
Super strong.
In the MCU power rankings.
But the question is how strong.
Is it going to come in?

(08:06):
Where is it going to land?
Well, I'm looking at the rain.
I'm going to do this thing nowwhere I just decide on the spot.
Sean.
She will come in.
At number.
10 on our MCU power ranking.
So it's going to be.
Ahead of Ultron iron man, farfrom home gardens of the galaxy
volume two.
Spider-Man the Hulk Thor at man,the wasp.

(08:26):
At man iron man, too.
Thor, dark world iron man three, and captain Marvel.
Those are all behind it.
So my top 10 is going to goShang chia.
Number 10.
Dr.
Strange number nine.
Captain America, number eight.
Gardens of the galaxy volumeone, a number seven.
The Avengers come in, number sixand then our top five goes.
Winter soldier.
Ragnarok civil war, infinity, war, and end game.

(08:50):
I was debating on where itshould land, if shit, because,
um, I'm torn between guardiansof the galaxy volume on captain
America and doctor strange.
But this movie is.
Those movies are personally moreimpactful to me.
Shawn G I love it.
It's very close.
It's more innovative than any ofthose movies, except for Dr.

(09:10):
Shea, Dr.
Changing, shank.
She, I think are really like onthe ball.
They're both innovative.
They're both, they bothintroduce a whole corner of the
world for Marvel that I'mexcited to see.
But I just personally liked Dr.
Strange more.
But, yeah, it's more innovativethan a lot of the other moves on
this list.
But the other moves.
I know they're not asinnovative.
I just liked them better.
That's just a personal taste.
Like, Hey, it's still coming inat number 10.

(09:31):
That's very strong for shonkyand I really can only think of.
One movie, maybe passing it oneor two movies.
From this point on.
So, yeah, we're going to stopwith chunky at number 10 up
next.
We have a very polarizing movie.
We'll be talking about.
Eternals by Chloe Zau.
