wholesome serene that is.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Oh, I forgot my uh
drink.
Speaker 1 (00:47):

okay, well, I mean, it works all
right.
So and so we're okay, all right, what no, I I, I got you well,
well, I was going to say, notonly do we have DW, who is
(01:08):
dutifully wholesome, we have ourthird wheel for the day, third
wheel for a couple weeks.
To be fair, zach, scharf, zach, how's it going?
I'm doing wonderful, I'll doyour crack for you.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'll do that.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
We didn't hear it,
you didn't hear it.
No, yeah, your mic skills areabout as good as his.
Feels good to be back.
I'm not going to lie.
We're just waiting until youhear what's coming up.
All right, let's just get tothis first and then we'll get to
(01:48):
what we're getting at DW.
I already know you're notdrinking anything because you
said oh crap, I forgot my drink.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I forgot.
Yeah, Do you want me to go getit?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I mean you can.
I can just talk to Zach first,I suppose.
Yeah, I'll just ask Zach howhe's doing first.
Zach, how are things?
How are things with you?
Good?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I've been busy.
I've been doing a lot of showslately.
It's always fun Just chillingin my basement tonight.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Very cool.
You guys probably don't knowthis, but I now have kind of a
studio office now.
So there is kind of a thing wehave.
I have, you know, in my threeweek, four week absence from
scolarius it's only two weeksfor both you listeners, but our
(02:45):
four week absence from fromschool areas here is that I I
have now, I'm now in a studiooffice.
So no more, no more dining roomtable, but I'm still in Casa de
Betro.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
So so you came out of
the closet.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I came, I was never
in.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I was in ina closet too.
That's a good one.
That's a knee slapper.
I'm glad you were able to getdown to that All right.
So I already asked Zach how hewas doing.
Both of our listeners heard it,so now we have to go to you.
How are you doing?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Well, first off.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
So I ran and got wild
state cider and this one the
the pie part of it a little bit,but it's.
It's good, but it's not.
Uh, doesn't taste like not notthat I expected it to, but it
doesn't feel like.
Oh, I'm drinking an apple pie Imean it works.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
It's too bad.
We couldn't get your lipsmacking in on the audio, but
maybe it'll'll come through whenwe send it out.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
What would be the pie
flavor?
I don't know what would be thepie flavor.
So you have the apple, butwhat's the pie?
What do you think would be thepie?
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I think I can taste
like almost like a graham
cracker kind of flavor.
They're trying to get the crustin there somehow.
See, there's, oh yeah, okay.
So the ingredients are apples, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper
(04:41):
and nutmeg.
So they're trying to season itlike you would an apple pie.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
You put cloves in an
apple pie.
I was more concerned about theblack pepper and nutmeg, so they
were trying to season it likeyou would an apple pie.
You put cloves in an apple pie.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
I was more concerned
about the black pepper.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
You know what?
If you don't know how to makean apple pie, what are you
saying, John?
I wouldn't put cloves in there.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Have you smelled
cloves?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, I guess we're
not making your apple pie, then
Alright, ready Alright.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Alright and you
making your apple pie.
Then, all right, ready, allright, and you have a.
Let me guess a diet coke ah see, yep, that was right.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Um and guess what
guys?
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I just want to throw
this out there.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
And guess what guys?
I just want to throw this outthere.
I'm not going to say, listen,I'm not giving up THC, I'm not
Whatever, because I can stilluse that kind of stuff.
I'm not, yeah, but I'm not.
But today I'm totally sober.
(05:44):
There's nothing, I got nothing.
It's just me, just me.
Oh God, it's probably worsethan me.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
It's not a good way
to preface the show, oh well.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
It actually might go
smooth today.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
If they continue
listening past our first segment
here, then we've already won.
That's all that matters.
To be honest, I guess, shouldwe do the spiel, we should do
the spiel first and then getinto what we were getting into.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Okay, if I know you
probably kind of get into what
we were getting into.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yeah Okay, yeah Well,
you know, if I know, you
probably missed us and sinceyou're missing us, you probably
want to know where to find us.
It's been a while.
I might be a little rusty onthis, but I can probably do it.
You can probably find DW SereneComedian on Facebook.
You can find me at John Olson, comedian 2 2.0 on facebook.
(06:46):
You can find us both together, not in a couple not in a couple
ways on on facebook.
Uh, at school areas obviously.
Um, we do have a tick tock it'sscolarius eight.
I I'm not great at the wholetickety talk thing, I thing I
just whatever.
And also we do have anInstagram, also called Scalarius
(07:10):
.
But yeah, and then if you wantto email us, you can email us at
scalariuspod, at gmailcom, oryou know, only if you want to,
only if you want to, and I cantell that nobody ever wants to.
So you can go back and listento every single episode that we

(07:34):

where they can find you?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
All right.
Well, you can find me onInstagram and Snapchat at Zach
Scharf.
You can find me on FacebookJust my name, zach Scharf.
You can find me on TikTokfatzach.
That's really all I can thinkof.
Come to my show, buy merch.
I need money.
You can find my Venmo, too.
(08:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Shameless plug there,
I appreciate money.
You can find my Venmo too, Idon't know.
Shameless plug there, Iappreciate that.
Speaking of buying merchbecause people might need money,
you could do that with us atcrowdmadecom forward slash
collections, forward slashScalariousPod, and you can get
(08:26):
all the cool little Scalariousgear that you want.
I'm assuming the one that youmight really want to get is the
I have no Idea who John Olsent-shirt.
I mean I'm assuming that thatwould be it.
Or you could get Oak Ripers.
(08:49):
That one would be fun to nab.
You would be the only onewearing it, I guarantee you.
Also, we have hats, we have mugs, we have we don't have coasters
, we have goasters, you know youcan get those, we also.
(09:13):
I mean, we just have a wholelot of gear and you can get that
at crowdmadecom forward slashcollections, forward slash
scolarius pod.
Or just go to crowdmadecom andsearch scolarius and you can get
all of that stuff.
Uh yeah, so are you ready forfor this?
(09:34):
I've been talking for a fewweeks about how I have a whole
lot of stuff to get off my chest, so shall we do this?
Yeah, dw, you look worried.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Well, whenever you
get excited about something, I'm
always worried.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
I mean this.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You told me before
Hang on what was the word.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
I said hold on to
your butt yeah yeah, I'm
concerned.
Okay, and I also told zach tohold on to his butt and he held
on to somebody else's, so I meanI was I did not say I did.
I did not say I did whatever I'musually not wrong, so just just
(10:20):
throwing it out there, allright.
So this is what we're going todo, guys.
I know, like here, people wantyou're tuning in, you want to
hear about the Warrens andyou're going to hear about the
Warrens.
You're going to hear about theWarrens pretty soon, but we're
just going to call the firstpart of this the state of the
(10:43):
Scolarius Address.
So I mean, there's things goingon and these things that you
guys probably don't knowanything about, and I feel it's
very unfair to not bring it up.
So I'm going to bring it up andI'm just going to air it all
(11:06):
out and we are going to moveabout our business the best way
we possibly can from here on out.
Is that fair?
Yeah, all right.
So first of all, I just want tothrow this out there.
I've been struggling for a fewmonths, and the reason why I've
(11:27):
been struggling for a few monthsis because I have renewed my
faith in Jesus Christ and when I, when I did that, things just
kind of started changing and myoutlook on a lot of things kind
of started changing.
I'll get back around to it.
(11:49):
I used to be kind of needy whenit came to comedy, kind of
needy when it came to the showand things like that.
I needed it, I needed to havethe interaction, I needed to be
the entertainer.
I needed to just do it becauseI felt that that was my, it was
(12:16):
my journey and I was tryingreally, really hard, just
struggling and trying, and Ijust I worked and worked and
I've worked and I've worked fortwo, two, two, like almost two
years.
Right, I mean october 31st willbe our second year, correct?
(12:39):
Yep, okay.
So scolarius has taken a lotout of me, comedy's taken a lot
out of me and, um, it seems like, you know, kind of on a
treadmill and it's nobody'sfault of anybody, you know,
whatever, it's just kind of theway it is.
(13:00):
We there's, there's highs andlows, there's ebbs and flows,
you know, to the whole podcastgame, we got a lot of attention
off of a lot of shows.
It felt really good.
We were able to get some, somework out of some shows and it
felt really good.
It kind of looked like my plan.
You know, the reason to startthis show was working.
(13:25):
Okay, and that was the reasonto start the show.
My plan was to get more workfor comedy, right, just kind of
a new angle to get about with.
You know we had the paranormalarea, the paranormal circle or
(13:46):
whatever that we could be in andthings worked out.
And you know, for a littlewhile it did that.
But somewhere along the line andI'm not 100% sure where I mean
there could be maybe a point I'mnot gonna, I'm not gonna give
(14:12):
the number of the episode butthere it kind of like hit a
brick wall and we haven't gottenany traction since and I mean
it's fair, you know, whateverthat happens, but the quality of
the people that we've had onsince that time doesn't warrant
(14:37):
the attention that they deserve.
And I don't know if it'sbecause they're not pushing it
on their side.
I don't know if it's becausethe algorithm is not putting us
up into the shows that need tobe listened to.
(14:59):
I don't know why, but it waskind of a big impact, uh, and it
it kind of messed some thingsup.
That's on the show level and ontop of that.
You know me, I'm going throughwhat I'm going through,
(15:19):
wondering how we're going tocontinue this show that delves
into things like thesupernatural and things like
that and still glorify god, because I feel like that that is
the main objective ineverything that we're supposed
to do.
We're supposed to glorify god,and so it's a struggle.
(15:42):
Same thing with comedy how am Isupposed to glorify God?
I can't glorify God by tellingpenis jokes.
I can't glorify God by doingsome of the stuff that I'm doing
, and doing it in bars.
I mean, it's just that's nothow you do it, that's not that's
not how you do it.
So, um, it's kind of a personal, uh, kind of personal direction
(16:15):
change for myself, and thenobviously, it's a direction
change for the show that we're,that you guys are listening to
right now.
Um, so, like again, like I said, you know we want to do this
and and and go on and glorifyGod.
Now, a couple of weeks back, wehad the supernatural sleuth on
(16:39):
and you know his take on ghostsis that they're all demons.
Okay, fair, I respect yourbelief and he's a God-fearing
man, lives in AppalachianMountains and you know I have
the utmost respect for him.
Me and him have talked numeroustimes since the recording of
(17:03):
the show.
Since the recording of the show, prior to that, a few weeks, we
had Stacy Lynn on.
It was the first time she wasever on a podcast, by the way,
and Stacy had some propheticwords about Scalarius, that we
would reach great lengths, thatour reach would extend past you
(17:29):
know, whatever.
And it was music to my ears, right, because that's what I
wanted to hear, right, that'show I foresaw this.
This is where I wanted thisshow to go.
This is where I wanted thisshow to go.
This is where I wanted mycomedy career to go.
Is is is that extended reach.
And the bottom line is this um,readings like that opens doors,
(17:59):
and those doors, those doors, are opened, and at that door are
demons and negative spirits, and those demons and negative
spirits know exactly what youwant and when that is being said
, you know those prophetic words.
They're not that prophetic, they're just what you want and
(18:23):
that's what I wanted.
And it's kind of a scary thing, okay, because obviously it went
in the exact opposite direction.
It wasn't a great reach, it wasa great toilet flush.
(18:43):
So you know that that could doa lot to somebody's psyche.
Essentially, again, I'm going togo forward again to
Supernatural Sleuth, who saidthat all ghosts are demons.
Again, I disagree.
I disagree, because this is whyI disagree, because this is why
(19:07):
hell is not only just a place, but it's a state of mind, and no
living creature on this planetknows what it's like to be
without God.
No living creature on thisplanet knows what it's like to
be without God.
But people who have lived.
No living creature on thisplanet knows what it's like to
(19:27):
be without God.
But people who have lived andknow that there is a God, maybe
are and are away from God.
It's kind of like not in thepresence, essentially, of God.
So I'm just throwing this outthere.
(19:51):
Do I believe that all ghosts aredemons?
No, do I believe ghosts arepeople?
Yeah, and they're people thatare here and they're here.
I don't know why, but that'swhy.
I don't know why, but that's,that's what the that's, that's
why.
Um, so I mean, and there arepeople that are that, again, are
(20:16):
not in the presence of God.
So you can look at that as evilor whatever.
No, that's, I mean, I don'tlook at it as evil, because to
be you know, to be 100% truthfulI deserve hell because I'm a
sinner.
So I mean, you look at thingslike that and I don't think I'm
that bad of a guy, and youalways think that people that
deserve hell are just the worstof the worst.
And that's not entirely true.
(20:36):
Anybody who's sinned, anybodywho has that thing, and they
don't go to Christ.
That's what they deserve.
And I'm not going to get toofar into religion and just my
belief.
Religion of politics is not theway to go on any platform,
unless you're a political showor religious show, which we are
not.
We're a paranormal and comedyshow, and I feel that that's
(20:58):
what we need to get back to.
So, again, with that being said, we are going to get back to
the paranormal and the comedy, and because we have comedians
that are either on right nowthat you're listening to all
(21:18):
three of us or we do have somethat come on and and, uh, either
guest host or actually getinterviewed by us to do what the
original premise of the showwas to tell us about their
(21:40):
issues that they have with theparanormal.
And this is something that I Iobviously haven't spoken to dw
outside of anything, and Ifigured, why not?
We'll just do it on the air.
I have no problem with this.
Let's see if he does.
I have no idea.
But, um, we are still going totalk to paranormal groups.
(22:01):
We are still going to talk topsychics.
We are still going to talk toparanormal groups.
We are still going to talk topsychics.
We are still going to talk tomediums.
We are still going to talk tocomedians about their
experiences actors, authors, allof that.
We are still going to continueto do that.
What we are not going to do ishave any readings live on the
(22:28):
show, ouija boards or anythinglike that that opens doors to
(22:55):
things that I don't want to haveanything to do with.
So yeah, there's that not topoint fingers or anything like
that, but I just feel it's thebest choice to move forward,
starting with this episode, thatwe just don't invite anything
(23:20):
we don't want to have anythingto do with.
Is that fair?
Dw?
yeah, that's fair so I meanagain, how do we do this and
glorify God?
That's how, and that's why Isaid, when I sent you that text
(23:45):
a few, I don few probably a week, week and a half ago now I said
I got it, I figured it out, Igot it.
So there it is.
We continue on, we do our thingand kick ass, because I don't
know if anybody really knows itNope, the only person that does
(24:13):
know this is you, dw, and mylovely betrothed.
But there was a time a few weeksback where I was actually
thinking about hanging it upafter episode 100.
And I don't know.
I just feel that, uh, we dohave a core base of listeners
that do enjoy uh, myself and you, um, and sometimes zach, uh,
(24:41):
but they, they do enjoy us and Ifelt it would be a disservice
to them to just stop.
So we're going to go untilwe're told we shouldn't go
anymore.
And I mean, the only way thatwe're going to know that we
(25:02):
shouldn't go anymore is when thelistens become zero.
So I feel we should be happywith whoever listens to however
long they listen.
And yeah, so that that's kindof where we're at.
(25:27):
I feel DW got anything.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
No, I think you
covered it.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
So let's kind of have
an open discussion real quick
before we get into Ed andLorraine.
Um, you had theories.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
You never really
spoke to me personally about it,
but you had theories as towhere I kind of hit a wall right
um, the thing that we keeptalking about, that we don't
mention specifically, I thinkput a damper on things and I
(26:06):
feel like it may have umaffected you more than you
realized and maybe had a.
Um had an effect likesubconsciously, and so maybe
there were things that werehappening that um, you didn't it
(26:34):
was.
It was hard to explain why this, this change, had happened, but
you kind of maybe didn't wantto admit what it was no, no,
okay.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Personally, I think
it's when I got closer to christ
again and, trust me, thatepisode is not what pushed it.
What pushed me to to christ wasI.
I've worked really, really, really hard for a long, long,
long time and I'm not gettinganywhere.
So, when you work really reallyhard for a long time and you
(27:09):
don't get anywhere, it's time tojust give it up, right, because
obviously your plan isn'tworking.
So it's not my plan anymore,it's just it's not.
So I gave it up and we're goingto do what we're going to do
and do what we can.
Um, I do feel, uh, that thestacy lynn comment probably
(27:38):
impacted me more than the otherone did but, but only in the
aftermath of it.
Meaning, you know, there wasseveral little things that
(27:58):
happened in those times where Iwas, you know, approached, kind
of about to do a TV show thatdidn't come through, kind of
about to do a TV show thatdidn't come through, you know,
and then just the dropping of uslike down the charts and I'm
(28:18):
not talking like this isn't likeMTV Top 25 back in the day or
anything like that.
You know where we, just likeyou know Milli Vanilli did, or
anything like that, or anythinglike that.
You know where we, just likeyou know Milli Vanilli did, or
anything like that.
It's just that A lot of thingsat once and it became hard.
And if anybody knows anythingLike when you work Really hard
(28:42):
on something, and I just put itlike this Say you built and I'm
not comparing it to anythingextravagant, but just throwing
it out there Say you build a bigold three-story house, six
(29:06):
bedroom, five bath, fullfinished basement, pool in the
backyard, all that stuff.
And you know the market saysthat your house is worth, you
know, 1.5 mil, you know 1.5 mil,but the people that are coming
(29:36):
to want to purchase it are onlywilling to give you about 250
000 dollars.
That's going to put a damper onwhat?
What you work so hard to build, what you work so hard to build,
and that's kind of the way Ilooked at it with this.
Like building this podcast withmy good friend across the side,
(29:56):
across the way there, he mightnot agree with and he's probably
going who's zach?
Zach's your friend?
No, but my my good, my goodbuddy, dw, on on the other side,
there are our ban.
Everything's been good.
You know, whatever, I feel wehave one of the best I'm going
to say best paranormal comedypodcasts out there.
I don't know how many.
(30:16):
There are Four, okay, top three, then you know.
So I mean we're doing, I mean Ifelt we did really well, but
there was a point where peoplestopped listening.
I'm hoping that they startagain.
I really hope that the first 25minutes of this podcast doesn't
(30:43):
stop them from doing it.
This is my heart, this is mysoul.
Stop them from doing it,because this is my heart, this
is my soul and I'm giving it toyou guys to let you know that we
are going to continue to behere and we are going to
continue to be here everystinking wednesday from here on
out.
So, with that being said, shallwe go?
(31:07):
Shall we talk about the Warrenstoday?
All right, all right.
One more thing before we gointo the Warrens.
I'm just going to throw thisout there.
One of our most popular shirtsis I have no idea who John
excuse me who John Olsen isT-shirt and hoodies.
(31:27):
I like it.
Yeah, it's a very good rightand, to be honest, it is very
fitting because recently I haveno idea who john olsen is.
The character I portray on thispodcast is completely and
utterly different than theperson who is living here day by
(31:49):
day, and I'm really gonna tryas hard as I can to make it to
where, um, we still hold to thecharacter of generals and and
not have so much of the the real, the real guy getting in there
(32:12):
and and if he does come in, likehe did for the last 15, 20
minutes, I hope that you guysunderstand it and give us the
benefit of the doubt to knowthat everything that we're doing
myself, dw and even Zach, ashe's juggling his phone in the
(32:32):
background we're doing it toentertain and we're doing it
because we like to do it.
Entertaining, I feel, is in ourblood.
However, we want and need to doit.
All right, blood.
However, we want and need to doit.
So all right, going fromentertaining to the hauntings
(32:55):
and ghost stories and whatnot.
And and why not?
I just I figured, hey, we mightas well talk about and Lorraine
Warren, because they are themost popular paranormal
investigating group on the faceof the planet.
And guess what, it's not agroup, it was just the both of
them, and they have some cases.
(33:16):
Let me tell you, dw, are youfamiliar with that?
And Lorraine Warren.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I am a little bit.
I I admit I had to look them upwhen, when you said this is
what we're talking about, I hadto look them up.
When you said this is whatwe're talking about, I had to
look them up and I mean, Iunderstand why they're
well-known to paranormal people.
(33:42):
But I do find it interestingthat the research I did into
them also mentioned the skepticsand the people saying we don't
know what they found wasactually legitimate.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
I mean, they have a
lot of stuff that Well, they
have a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
That well, they have
a lot of stuff.
But here's what I I wonderedand this is just going off of
the, the minimal research I didbut wondered if they it's not
some they did a lot ofinvestigations.
I'm not saying I'm wondering ifthey didn't find a lot, but
(34:30):
because they did so many, all ofthe, they wanted to hear it.
They wanted so badly to have,um, paranormal stuff happen and
so they thought every time theydid an investigation they
thought that weird sound was aghost.
They thought the lightsflickering was a spirit.
(34:52):
They thought that voice thatthey heard was someone from
beyond trying to contact them, stuff like that.
So again, not saying they verypossible that they actually did
find something.
I mean, out of the tens ofthousands of investigations that
they did did find something.
I mean out of the tens ofthousands of investigations that
they did probably foundsomething, but probably found a
(35:15):
lot of things that were nothingbut they wanted to believe it
was something.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Yeah, I, you know,
paranormal is not a light switch
, you know, and and things dohappen sometimes.
I mean, they do, they don't um,they seem to be in the middle
of both sides of that.
You know that.
By the way, dw, as we're dude,is that the hellhounds of Serene
(35:48):
Manor?
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Very cool.
That's awesome.
I'm glad to hear it.
It's been a while, Zach.
Do you know who Ed and LorraineWarren are?
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Have they worked with
Mystery Inc before With who
Mystery Inc.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Mystery Inc.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Like Scooby-doo?
Yeah, I probably.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
I don't think I don't
think I've heard of them before
.
Okay, I don't know why, likeokay, so you only know ghost
hunting based based on GhostAdventures, with what's his name
?
Zach Baggins.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
So I mean, I don't
know, why?
Well, not only Zach Baggins, but obviously Scooby and the
crew, and also the Ghostbustersas well.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Even the female.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Can't forget them.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yes, we can.
We can most definitely forgetthem.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Melissa McCarthy is a
secret agent.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
No, that movie should
never have been made.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
That movie.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
Nope, it's not
because they're women either.
It's not because they're women,gosh, it's crap, oh man.
You are so just what do?
You have against women.
I don't have anything againstwomen.
See, now we're going to getthat going on me.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Well, this time it's
two against one.
Now that I've got Zach on myside, we might as well point out
that you're very sexist.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Yeah, before this
started he was talking about
Okay, all right, it was allabout you, wasn't it all about
him?
Speaker 2 (37:33):
yep, and see, here's
the thing.
The problem, the biggestproblem that movie had was
people were casting their votes, people were making their
opinion before they even saw it.
They saw the cast and they werelike, oh, it's all women,
that's not going to be good.
And it's like, well, youhaven't even seen it yet it was.
(37:55):
It was hilarious.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
I thought it was good
, I liked it.
John's probably never even seenit.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
I've seen it and I
don't like it at all.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
So was it the comedy
that you didn't like?
The, the.
Just how did you what?
What?
What didn't you like about it?
Speaker 1 (38:15):
how are we getting on
ghostbusters 2016 when we're
supposed to be talking about edand lorraine warren?
You wanted to like?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
yeah, all right so
okay, so, um so okay.
So Ed passed away before theGhostbusters movie came out, but
Lorraine was alive at that time.
So I do wonder if Lorraineactually liked the female cast
(38:42):
of Ghostbusters.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
She probably did.
You know, women all sticktogether.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
Yeah, I mean she
probably stick together.
Yeah, I mean she probably lovedit.
Is there any way we can?
I don't know if she gave heropinion on this, but I'm just
going to check and see if, bychance, she I doubt she was big
on Instagram.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Doing a side mission
on whether or not Lorraine
Warren liked the 2016Ghostbusters.
I'm just going to talk aboutthis.
Ed and Lorraine Warren likedthe 2016 Ghostbusters.
I'm just going to talk aboutthis, ed and Lorraine Warren.
Ed was born in 1926.
Lorraine was born in 1927.
They, you know, okay anyway.
So they were married in 1945,and they do have a daughter
(39:23):
named Judy.
She was born in 1946.
A daughter named Judy.
She was born in 1946.
They are probably the mostpopular family when it comes to
(39:43):
the paranormal.
I don't know of anybody elsebesides Scooby Doo and the gang
that would be more popular thanEd and Lorraine Warren and their
daughter Judy, because Judyended up marrying.
I think it's Tony Sparrow, ifI'm, if I'm right.
I could be wrong, but if itwasn't Tony, then it's, then
(40:05):
Tony's their nephew or somethingwhich is even weirder.
But no, I believe Judy marriedTony Sparrow and they still are
running NESPR, which her parentsfounded in 1952.
The New England Society forParanormal or Psychic Research,
(40:26):
nespr, and it's the oldest ghosthunting group in New England.
It might be the oldest ghosthunting group in the world, to
be fair, because Nesper predatesMystery Inc, by the way, by
about 15 years.
So, in case you were wondering, zach.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
I was wondering
actually.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Yeah, okay, but you
know, 1952 is when that's first.
What's that?
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Scrappy Doo, scrappy
Doo.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
Yeah, we're
forgetting Scrappy Doo as well.
I don't, why are we even?
Speaker 3 (41:05):
doing.
Okay, scrappy Doo.
I feel like.
Well, why are we even doingScrappy-Doo?
I feel like, is the femaleGhostbusters of Forget about it?
Speaker 1 (41:19):
I really loved your
Warren's episode, john.
It was really informative aboutthe female Ghostbusters.
That's really good, I love this.
Yeah, anyways, reallyinformative about the female
Ghostbusters, that's really good, I love this.
Yeah, anyways, the Warrens wereamong the first investigators
(41:40):
in the Amityville haunting.
We covered that DW rememberthat.
I do remember.
Yeah, um, yeah, so they were.
Yeah, they were.
They were the investigators forthat.
Skeptics, perry DeAngelis andSteven Novella investigated the
Warren's evidence and describedit as blarney, which anybody who
(42:05):
doesn't know overseas Blardymeans caca.
Yeah, it's not good.
Skeptical investigators JoeNickel and Benjamin Radford
concluded that the better-knownhauntings the Amity and the
Snedeker family haunting did nothappen and had been invented.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Happen and had been
invented.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Mm-hmm.
So we're going to go over someof these investigations and
we're going to go through someof the things that surrounded
them.
One of the, I guess the mostfamous, and there's a whole lot
of movies that are based on it.
Well, okay, and there's a wholelot of movies that are based on
it.
Um, well, okay, there's two, they kind of go side inside um
(42:58):
the parent family.
The parent family is theconjuring family.
Okay, um dw, last time we spoke, I I had said to you have, have
you seen the Conjuring?
And you had told me no, hasthat changed?
Speaker 2 (43:12):
No, I still haven't
seen it.
Keep in mind, anytime you askif I've seen a horror movie, I
have not.
All right fair.
When I looked on my phone, bythe way, under the genre of
horror, the two movies that cameup were gremlins and gremlins 2
(43:33):
.
So that and those, oh my gosh, those are scary right I know and
lorraine warren investigatedyeah, but I could be wrong.
I did watch because you claimedit was the the scariest.
Speaker 1 (43:49):
I did watch um the
exorcist yes, the exorcist um, I
feel is is up there and uh, I,I heard.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Oh, who was it?
Um, there was someone elseclaiming that they, they viewed
the exorcist as an example of aperfect movie, which I, and the
thing is it's not.
Um, oh, quentin tarantino ohyeah, he was explaining that.
You know, a movie can be perfecteven though it's not your cup
(44:21):
of tea.
For me, that's the perfectexample of that, because horror
not my cup of tea.
That one was a good moviethough, but I'm definitely not
into horror, so you canrecognize that as a good movie
even if you don't like horrormovies.
I more so was laughing at howmuch smoking all the doctors
were doing, oh yeah.
It was a different time.
(44:42):
I just thought it was hilariousthat a doctor would be like
alright, here's what happened.
Speaker 1 (44:59):
So just thought it
was hilarious that a doctor
would be like all right, here'swhat happened.
So, uh, oh yeah, it's adifferent time period, though,
but I I don't know.
I just want to let you know, um, we're going to try to get
through this, uh, at least forthe next 10-15 minutes.
If we don't, I apologize.
There's a massive storm rollingthrough right now.
If, uh, if we cut out, we cutout.
There's nothing else we coulddo about it.
But, um, we're gonna at leasttry to get part of this done,
and then we are gonna come backfor at least a part two of the
(45:22):
warrens, because I feel like ourwarren episode was the
beginning was John Olson, so Ithink there's going to be some
people that I actually want tohear about, and Lorraine a
little bit, but first we'regoing to start talking about
their most notableinvestigations and then we'll go
into them and, most definitely, their later work.
(45:43):
So first is the Perrin.
Like I said, uh, the parent ismost notably, uh, the basis for
the movie the conjuring.
Now, zach, have you seen theconjuring?
Speaker 3 (45:59):
I have not.
You know, I am not much of ahorror movie person.
Um, like, the last horror movieI probably watched was probably
like 2016 Ghostbusters orsomething.
Scooby-doo, live action,obviously, but no, I'm not
(46:20):
really big into that.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
I think there's a
theme here, and the theme is you
really want to talk?
You're on the wrong podcast,pal.
If we wanted to go on and talkabout Scooby-Doo and the 2016
Ghostbusters, we probably wouldhave named it that, so we could
speak about it.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
I thought that was
hilarious.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
Oh, that's not it,
okay, okay.
So how is it that I'm the foilto you like?
Okay, whatever.
So in 1971, the Warrens claimedthat the Harrisville, rhode
Island, home of the Perrinfamily was haunted by a witch
(47:01):
who had lived there in the early19th century.
According to the Warrens,bathsheba Sherman.
I just like saying her nameBath.
Early 19th century.
According to the Warrens,bathsheba Sherman.
I just like saying her nameBathsheba Sherman cursed the
land so that whoever lived theresomehow died a terrible death.
I don't know Like.
(47:25):
People have said that the wholeBathsheba thing was not how it
was.
Dw, did you hear things likethat?
Speaker 2 (47:35):
I, I just think of
Bathsheba from.
Isn't there a Bathsheba in theBible that's?
Speaker 1 (47:41):
that's uh where that
name, what that name reminds me
of, I want to say it was uh, ohgosh, I can, can't remember, but
it's obviously old testament Ithink so, yeah, there we go, um,
like shadrach, meshach andabednego, you know like, like
(48:04):
they had some cool names backthen, um, anyway, so along with
the parents, obviously, especially if you want to go to
the whole like conjuring movie.
It kind of started off withAnnabelle, okay.
(48:26):
Now please tell me, withoutreferencing Ghostbusters 2016,
if you've heard of Annabelle.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Well, yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
There was yeah she's
the villain in the Ghostbusters
2016 movie.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
No, I was going to
say 1987, but or whatever year
it came out, but no, I thinklast time I was on, or one of
the other times I was on, youmentioned the Annabelle which I
didn't know was Raggedy Ann.
I thought it was like aporcelain doll.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Yeah, yeah, so well,
I think the porcelain doll has
become like the stereotypicalhorror movie doll yeah.
But, yes, Annabelle is aRaggedy Ann doll.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Which I did see one
of the people involved with
Annabelle.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
He had just passed
away yeah yeah um, he's part of
nesper, by the way.
Um, yeah, really sad, sorry man.
Um to his apologize to hisfamily.
That's really messed up.
Obviously I didn't know him.
Uh, I do know people who didknow him.
(49:51):
Uh seemed to pass prettysuddenly.
Uh, yeah, it's, uh, it's, it'stoo bad.
Um, I think it was Ron.
See, like, I don't, I don'twant to mess up the guy's name
and I apologize sincerely, but,um, but yeah, so anyway,
according to the warrens, in theyear 1972, roommates claimed
(50:12):
that the raggedy ann doll waspossessed by the spirit of a
young girl named annabellehiggins.
The warrens took the doll, telling the roommates it's being
manipulated by an inhumanpresence, and put it on display
in the family's occult museumwhere it still is, by the way,
well, until recently, where theystarted touring with it and
(50:33):
that poor gentleman passed awayafter one of the tours there.
But yeah, so obviously, in theConjuring series, annabelle is
kind of big.
I think that doll itself hasthree or four movies in its own
(51:00):
DW.
If you want to have anyhomework whatsoever, watch some
Annabelle movies and conjuringmovies and and whatnot oh,
that's gonna make me feel better.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Yeah, then as a
pick-me-up, I'll watch uh
ghostbusters 2016 okay I willsay that, uh, the closest thing
to scooby had to the Conjuringwas 1999 Witch's Ghost.
You know, I just kind of makeeverything parallel, but yeah,
(51:35):
that's 1999 film Scooby-Doo andthe Witch's Ghost.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
I don't even know if
I've seen.
I'm't even know if I've seen.
I'm trying to remember if I'veseen Scoob.
The new one yeah, the 2021.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
I haven't watched
that one, but anyway, the Dalma
one.
I heard that sucked.
Yeah, the dalma one.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
I heard that stuff.
Yeah, what do you think?
You know, I I would say thatthis show derailed, but I don't
think it ever really got ontrack.
So hopefully, eventually wewill.
We will do so, I don't know.
Um, yeah, so Okay.
So obviously, lorraine wasknown to be sensitive.
(52:36):
Ed was known to be more of theperson who acted in faith and
did things like possessions andwhatnot.
But you, okay there, buddy, isthat Zach's?
Speaker 3 (52:56):
yep I can hear a car
alarm going up on whose house?
That's me.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
John, yeah, it was
outside my house again, like I
said, I would say it derailed, but I don't think it ever really
got on track.
So I mean um, what?
So, all right, let's just,we're just gonna call this how
(53:27):
we're gonna call this.
Okay, we're gonna call this theum.
This is this is how this isprobably going to call this.
The um.
This is this is how this isprobably going to be.
Uh, titled is the state of theScalarius address with the
Warren interlude, because Idon't feel we're ever going to
(53:47):
get anything really, uh, goingon on this bad boy, and I'm
about ready to lose power.
So I mean things.
I mean things are, things arepopping over here.
We got car alarms going off, wehave lightning hitting things
and, and my uh, my lights areblinking.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
So I mean oh gosh, we
, actually I, we lost power at
work today um, yeah, for yeahfor a good two, three seconds
and and, of course, what's funnyis in that short amount of time
there were enough people goingoh, time to go home.
It's like can't wait threeseconds for it to come back, but
yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
Alright, so we're
going to end this with some
things, with some warringinformation that does not
include the 2016 Ghostbusters orScooby-Doo and then we will
come back.
We will come back next week andactually do a good, kick-ass
(54:54):
job with the Warrens.
Give them their flowers, so tospeak, because they deserve them
for as many years as they'vebeen in the paranormal.
So we'll just go through it outthere.
Okay, so we're just going tosay this Edward Warren Miney was
born September 7th Huh, he's aVirgo.
(55:19):
What do you know?
In 1926, lorraine rita warrenher maiden name was moran was
born january 31st 1927.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
what sign.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
Does that?
Make her uh, january 31st, Ibelieve, would be.
That's not capricorn, is it?
Speaker 2 (55:37):
I don't know.
I thought it was irrelevant, sothat's why I brought it up, um
because yeah, yeah, um, neitherdid the capricorn, which is also
the repair.
Speaker 1 (55:49):
american paranormal
investigators and authors
associated with prominent casesof alleged hauntings.
Obviously Right there you go.
Alleged.
Alleged again.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
Alleged.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
Edward was a
self-taught and self-professed
demonologist.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Ah, yes.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Red flag number two,
professed to be a clairvoyant
and a light trance medium.
I don't know what that means.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
Red flag number three
.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (56:20):
And she worked really
closely with with her husband.
All right, so we're going torun through every single one of
these cases and we're going togo in depth with each one of
these cases.
Next week on Scalarious All10,000?
No, not OK.
Each one of the notable cases.
Week on school areas All 10,000?
Speaker 2 (56:35):
No not Okay, each of
them have a notable case.
Oh, just the notable ones.
Okay, good yeah, alright.
Speaker 1 (56:40):
So obviously the
Annabelle doll.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
The Perron family.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
The Perron or Perron
family.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
Annabelle, which we
already covered.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
Okay, the Enfield
poltergeist, which is not, it's
not the end.
The car or my word, that carhorn is going again is that your
car?
It's not my car, but alightning strike, and then the
car alarm went off again.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
So I don't know.
I do think it'd be funny if you, if your car was being stolen,
but you still couldn't stop thepodcast because you're like I've
got things to do here, hey stopstop taking my car.
I'll be there in just a littlesecond.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
I gotta do this, or
that it's been a month, so we
gotta, we gotta do the thing.
So, uh, the infield poltergeist, which is not about the Enfield
House that we discussed a few,the 1777 Enfield House that we
talked about a few weeks back.
This is actually North Londonand this one's about, if you
(57:48):
were to watch the movies, thisone the Enfield Poltergeist is
the Conjuring 2.
Okay, then there was ArnieJohnson.
He basically killed a guy buthe was supposedly possessed by
(58:08):
the devil, and this is the basisfor Conjuring 3, which is
ironic.
And then the Snedeker House, which was in Connecticut, and
this one there was a couplemovies about this.
(58:29):
One of them was A Haunting inConnecticut which came out a few
years back, basically about afamily who moved into an old
funeral home and it wassupposedly really really haunted
.
The son had cancer or somethingand he was really sick and a
(58:53):
ghost attached to him.
It was kind of a.
He had, like cancer orsomething and he was really sick
and, uh, a ghost like attachedto him and it was kind of a, a
weird and very, um, messed up uhthing.
So, uh, the Smurl family Okay, this is in Pennsylvania and this
is actually, um, this is goingto be the upcoming and last.
(59:17):
The car alarm is going offagain.
This is the upcoming and lastConjuring movie, conjuring Last
Rites, which comes out later onthis year, and then Union
Cemetery.
It's in New England and it hasthe.
(59:39):
You know it features the whitelady, which I mean I feel every
ghost is a lady in white, so Imean nothing too special about
it.
But I will say like, yeah,we're going to go into Ed, we're
going to go into Lorraine,we're going to go into their,
(59:59):
their stuff, that they some ofthe notable cases, some very,
some strange people that saythings about them.
You know, like some prettywicked stuff.
(01:00:22):
But I mean they live in thepublic or you know they were in
the public and that kind ofstuff happens.
But we're talking, like, youknow, people calling them frauds
and things like that, andpeople calling them frauds and
things like that, but then alsoa supposed relationship that
(01:00:44):
happened for over 40 years bysomebody and things like that,
but a lot of stuff.
And then we'll go into themuseum that they have.
It was last, I thought it wasin their house, but I think that
it was a uh, oh my, I think Ithink they moved it and uh, yeah
, so it stopped again.
(01:01:08):
Um, it's going to continue to goon over and over and over again
, and yeah, so we might as wellget the show on the road to get
people to get out of here whilethey still have some sanity.
That's that, that would be,that would be good.
Oh, another thing that wetalked about maybe I don't know
if myself and DW talked about it, but I just kind of signed an
(01:01:32):
executive order on it and thatwas to keep the the shows at
about an hour so people can goabout their lives and not have
to listen to us for two, threehours at a time.
And we are almost at that hourmark.
So what we need to do is getthis or that out of the way and
sign off like we normally do so.
(01:01:52):
Dw, dw, I have a question foryou, my friend.
Yeah, do you have a this orthat for Zach or me, or are we
going do-si-do-si three?
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
times.
Well, I think the questions Ihave.
I've already asked you, somaybe we should do a this or
that for Zach.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
All right, zach, I'll
tell you what you answer the
this or that questions this week.
Next week, when we do this, wewill each ask each other all
three of us oh.
Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
Okay.
I just have one, though I haveone.
I have to ask this week, though.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
Should we start it
off with that?
Yeah, start it off with yourone.
Who are you asking?
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
Myself or DW?
Both of you can answer thisactually Okay Scooby-Doo or
Ghostbusters 2016?
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
You know, as much as
I like Scooby-Doo, I really
liked the 2016 Ghostbusters soI'm going to go with that one.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
Okay, we're going
with Scooby-Doo.
All right, awesome, dw please.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Should.
I ask that All my questionsshould be Ghostbusters.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Okay, zach, do you
want to fly or drive?
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Definitely fly.
I love flying.
Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Okay, so when you fly
, do you want the window or
aisle seat?
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Every time I've
gotten a window seat it's been
on the wing Over the wing Overthe wing, so I've never got to
experience a true window seat.
But I want to take an aislebecause I've been doing a lot of
pooping lately.
Alright, I've definitely got tobe getting up a lot.
(01:03:50):
I don't want to be botheringanyone.
So, yeah, definitely aisle, clue or Monopoly, be getting up
a lot.
Uh, don't want to be botheringanyone.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
So yeah, definitely
clue or monopoly um, I've won at
clue.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
I've never won it,
hopefully, but I've also been
bankrupt at both didn't know youcould get bankrupt in clue I Me
neither.
I don't know how that is.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
I'll go with Clue.
Speaker 3 (01:04:20):
Chickenpox or Poison
Ivy.
I've never had Chickenpox, actually, I've never had Poison
Ivy either.
I think we'll go with PoisonIvy.
I guess I don't know Batman orSuperman think we'll go with
(01:04:41):
poison ivy.
Okay, I guess I don't knowbatman or superman.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
um, I like batman, I
like batman, yeah, okay, um,
you've perfected your timemachine.
Do you travel back to 1825 orforward?
Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
to 2225.
Oh, we're going forward.
Let's see if I made it onNetflix.
Alright, or stand-up comedy,I'm not going with either
Simpsons or the Office.
The Office, 100% the Office.
I've watched the Office atleast 10 times through At least.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
Okay, does the toilet
paper go over or under?
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
I used to have a
mullet, so we're going under.
Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Weird reason to give
that response, but sure Do you
want to listen to your music onvinyl records or streaming.
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
I do like streaming
because you can just pull up
each song and you just listen toit.
But I there's something about avinyl record.
It's just so, just you knowgood, yeah, I don't, I we.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
We got a, a record
player in our house a couple
years ago and first off, unlessyou're paying for it, most
streaming services havecommercials and stuff and maybe
you can start with your favoriteartist.
But then it goes to someoneelse With vinyl.
Put the record on and you knowwhat's going to play.
(01:06:09):
Alright, I don't even know ifthis one counts, because we'll
still do it John Olsen or TedBundy.
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
That's a good one.
That's a good one.
I don't even know who Ted Bundyis.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
No.
I'm kidding he can't do.
He doesn't know, obviously heknows who John Olsen is, so he
can't do that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
I've met one kind of
a fan, we'll go with John Olsen
you're a fan of Ted Bundy haveyou ever seen an interview with
him?
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Like he's just, I
mean, you have to put aside
temporarily what he did, I mean, which was?
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
freaking horrible.
He was very articulate verysmart.
Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
He was very
articulate, very smart, very
just charming Yep, and if youdidn't know, he would just seem
like a nice guy.
Yeah, yeah, but anyway, allright, we don't need to glorify
Ted Bundy, no that's not our job.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
Our job is to glorify
other, not Ted Bundy.
So at the very least we go.
Eh, don't not our job.
Our job is to glorify their, not Ted Bundy.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
So at the very least
we go, eh don't know who John
Olsen is.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
Very much All right.
So, as of recording, okay, theworld took a lot of hits over
the last week.
Oh yes, we lost Ozzy Osbourne.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Ozzy Osbourne, Hulk
Hogan.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
We lost Hulk Hogan,
malcolm Jamal Warner.
If anybody watched the CosbyShow when they were a kid or I
mean, knew what the Cosby showwas, because they're still kids
Either way but today, as of thebeginning of the recording, this
one is hard, this one's a gutpunch.
(01:08:25):
I feel like my childhood issincerely disappearing and it's
really messed up um.
Chicago cubs second basemanryan sandberg has passed away.
He was 65 years old.
Uh, ryan sandberg, number 23for the chicago cubs Cubs.
(01:08:54):
Some of my most fond memories asa youngster in the early to
mid-80s, going into the early90s, was watching the Cubs and
Ryan Sandberg along with myGranny Grumpus.
So tonight my Granny Grumpusgets to meet Ryan Sandberg.
(01:09:21):
So rest in peace, rido, yeah, man so, and Granny Grumpus, I
love you and I'll see yousometime in the future, but
(01:09:42):
anyway, um, yeah, that, that'sthat, that's what happened.
So don't really want to end iton too much of a down note, so I
will say this uh, 2016Ghostbusters still sucks.
On too much of a down note, soI will say this 2016
Ghostbusters still sucks, andI'll put that in the same
(01:10:03):
category as stupid-ass Crocs.

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Mr Rogers, mr Rogers,
charlie Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):

happiness, yeah, all that stuff.
