In this episode, I chat with Bolo Prather. Bolo is a lifelong yogi, a musician, songwriter, actor, a teacher of self-realization & authenticity, & someone who shares fun, artistic stories. We cover a lot of ground, talking about how from day one most of us are trained to fit in & our authentic expression & childlike joy gets packed down underneath expectations, information, education, & conformity, making us doubt that what we want even matters, & how all of that comes from a place of lack and fear. We also talk about how if we really want to know ourselves & have full self-realization, something in us has to die, how the core of any spiritual practice is knowing & being your authentic person, & how we’re just beginning to understand how powerful we are as humans & the degree with which we can affect the outer world. Finally, Bolo reminds us that who you are is the most valuable thing in the world & that the journey is about turning inward to find ourselves.

Take Aways:

1.    Life is what you want it to be. Don’t you want love? Don’t you want trust? Don’t you want happiness?

2.    Don’t lose yourself to fit in. If you are losing yourself to fit in, you don’t really belong anywhere, because you don’t belong to yourself anymore.

3.    When we start looking externally for things that truly come from within ourselves, we lose our authenticity & our connection. The journey is an inward journey

4.    Being true to yourself is a practice

5.    Taking radical responsibility for yourself can be scary at first, but you will come to find that it’s actually a relief because then you aren’t responsible for anybody but yourself.

6.    We all want to love & be loved

7.    Showing appreciation is a mutual reflection of love

8.    Who you are is the most valuable thing in the world. Believe in yourself, because until you do, no one’s gonna. When you do, the world will support you, spirit will support you, & your community of people will show up. Trust it.

9.    Turn inward. Trust and be your authentic self.

10. If we want a better & more peaceful world, it has to start with each one of us individually.
