Welcome to the Scatter the Darkness Podcast. A podcast of faith, devotion, and prayer. Here you'll find Bible studies, sermons, and worship services. This podcast is produced by St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, WI. We are a proud member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. The Word of God scatters the darkness, the sins of what we have done and the shame of those sins that have been done against us. Every day the Word of God brings light of the scriptures and glorious life into our world. We can come into the light and access His forgiveness and lead us out of the darkness.

"Exodus: The Face"Exodus 34:29-35 | The Shining Face of MosesWhen Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the Ten Commandments, his face was shining with the glory of God. In Exodus 34:29-35, we see how God’s presence transforms His people in ways that cannot be hidden. This passage reminds us that true encounters with the Lord leave a lasting mark on our lives. In this message, we will discover how God’s presence still transforms us ...
The Golden Calf | Exodus 32:1–10When the people of Israel grew impatient with Moses, they turned from the living God to worship an idol made of gold. This was more than impatience — it was rebellion, ingratitude, and unbelief. We, too, can be quick to trust our own works, desires, or false “saviors” when God seems silent or slow to act.Yet even in the face of such sin, God’s mercy in Christ is greater. The One who should consume us...

Exodus: The Commandments | Exodus 20:1–21
What do the Ten Commandments really mean for us today?
God doesn’t give His Law to restrict us—but to reveal His will, reflect His holiness, and point us to our need for a Savior. In Exodus 20, God speaks directly to His people, carving His commandments into history. Yet even as the mountain trembles, God's ultimate plan is not fear—but grace.

Exodus: The Water
Exodus 17:1–7 | Water from the Rock
The people thirsted—and they grumbled. Though God had delivered them through the sea and fed them with bread from heaven, still they doubted His presence. “Is the Lord among us or not?” they cried. In mercy, God answered—not with wrath, but with water from the rock. So too today, He meets our doubting hearts with living water in Christ, who was struck for our sake and now quen...

Exodus: The Provision | Exodus 16:2–12 | Bread from Heaven
Even after all they had seen—parting seas, God’s mighty hand, freedom from slavery—the people of Israel grumbled. In the wilderness, they hungered… and the Lord answered with bread from heaven.
God’s response to complaint was not wrath, but mercy. He heard the grumbling of His people and provided manna—not because they deserved it, but because He is faithful. This “b...

Exodus: The Sea | Exodus 14:5–14
What happens when you’re trapped—when fear closes in and the way forward seems impossible?
This week we journey with the Israelites to the shores of the Red Sea, a pivotal moment in the story of Exodus and in the history of God’s people. With Pharaoh’s army behind them and water ahead, Israel panics. Despite God’s miracles, they still doubt. But Moses delivers a powerful promise:
“The Lord will...

Freedom in Christ | Galatians 6:1–10; John 8:31–38
What would you change if you could change just one thing in your life? The stress, the burdens, the regret—are we stuck with them forever? Or is there a deeper kind of freedom—one that lasts?
In this message, we hear both Jesus and the Apostle Paul speak about true freedom. It doesn’t come from escaping responsibilities or avoiding pain. It comes from the cross. Because of Ch...

Exodus: The Passover
June 26 & 29, 2025
“Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24)
God instituted the Passover as a memorial of His mercy—a day when judgment passed over His people because of the blood. As we reflect on Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, we see ourselves in the story: enslaved by sin, helpless on our own, and in need of a Deliverer.
Just as God saved the Israelites through the blood of the l...

Exodus: The Plagues | Exodus 7:14–21
June 19 & 22, 2025
We rely on so many things—until they fail. In ancient Egypt, the Nile River was everything: life, livelihood, even a god. But in Exodus 7, the Lord turns the Nile to blood. Why? To show Pharaoh—and us—that only the true God gives life.
As we begin our look at the plagues, we see more than just judgment on Egypt. We see God exposing false gods and calling His people ba...

📖 “Exodus: The Oppression”
Exodus 5:1–14
🗓️ June 12–15, 2025
✝️ Preacher: Pastor Kyle Backhaus
🔍 Summary
Oppression, fear, and control—these themes dominate the early chapters of Exodus. Egypt once thrived because of Joseph, yet a new Pharaoh forgets his legacy and enslaves the Israelites out of fear. In Exodus 5, Moses stands before this Pharaoh, burdened with self-doubt, clinging to excuses, and deeply unsure of his calling. Bu...
