Dr. Rieuwerd Buitenwerf is the General Secretary of the Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders (BSNF), and also a Board Member of the United Bible Societies. His work at BSNF includes many projects with a large focus on Bible Engagement, and Youth and Children’s ministry. BSNF's focus on Bible Engagement saw the birth of the Family Bible for the Netherlands, with a wide distribution of almost 700,000 copies into 25 countries.
Rieuwerd has also tried to emphasize diversity in the ministry of the Bible Society for the Netherlands and Flanders, with a new initiative partnering with Migrant Churches and the joint global project of the Migration Bible, that was recently launched. He studied theology at and has a PhD from Leiden University and is the author of several books. His wife is a minister in the Protestant Church, and they are the parents of three teenagers.
