Every generation is forced to answer the same question, whether they realize it or not. It’s not a question about religion, or church attendance, or what we believe in theory. It’s a question Jesus Himself asked while standing face to face with those who followed Him.
Who do you say that I am?
Not who your family says He is.
Not who culture allows Him to be.
Not who you need Him to be in a difficult moment.
But who He truly is to you.
The Gospel of Mark does not waste words, and it does not soften the truth. It moves quickly, urgently, and directly toward a decision. Jesus heals, teaches, confronts, calls, and warns—but everything leads to one unavoidable reality: following Him will cost you something, and refusing Him will cost you everything.
This message is not about information. It’s about allegiance. It’s about the difference between admiration and surrender, between starting the journey and enduring to the end. It’s about the cross, the empty tomb, and the question that still stands before every heart today.
As you listen, don’t rush past the moments of conviction. Don’t listen defensively. And don’t assume this message is meant for someone else.
Let Jesus ask you the same question He asked His disciples.
