(00:04):
Come on man, y'all you know thatwas fucked up, y'all know?
That was fucked up. Y'all know that was fucked up?
So much unprovoked and indiscriminate tear gassing and
shootings and assaults and arrests from ICE has happened in
Illinois these past two weeks. Our team at Status Crew brings
to you this recap after having relentlessly covered so much
ground and being targeted for attacks by federal agents.

(00:27):
Before we head over to the West Coast to bring you more coverage
of this invasion, here's a glimpse into what we've seen and
what we expect will happen next. This is what remains of those
tear gas canisters. This is the intersection of
Kedzie and Pershing in Chicago'sBrighton Park neighborhood.
And this year, yesterday was thescene of ICE agents.

(00:47):
They were chucking tear gas out the windows of their cars,
throwing flash bangs, all after they had just shot a woman in
this neighborhood. It's a largely Hispanic
community and they would have already been living under the
the fear that they are going to be next like.
I'd be racist, but white people could go out, do whatever they

(01:07):
want, but I can't. Yeah, yeah.
We had to carry our ID passport IDs with us.
You wanna see what real? Independent journalism funded.
By the. People for the people.
Looks like you. Ever heard a story like this in?
America. You're looking at
congratulations for always beingsomewhere where mainstream media

(01:29):
is not. Flint, MI.
See you. In Nevada, people like you, we
could get the truth. Corporate media, we they've been
lying to us for years. And you go straight to the
people you. Are the man.
I'm glad you're here. For as low as $0.16 a day,
you'll keep us on the ground covering the.
Important stories the. Corporate media.

(01:53):
because it might give U.S. citizens too much of an
advantage. Chicago is being used as a
testing ground for the tactics that could soon be employed in
Portland and other American cities all across this country
if the Trump administration getsthe chance to do so in any other

(02:14):
country. If federal.
Agents fired upon journalists and protesters went unprovoked.
I don't think we'd have any trouble.
Calling it. What it is?
Authoritarianism. Let's start with Broadview, IL
Broadview is where the Central ICE facility is from where a lot

(02:34):
of the agents are conducting many of the operations that you
are seeing on TV on our channel. That's where a lot of the
protests are centered is outsideof that Broadview, IL area or
outside of that facility. So then they drive around and
then there's an exit over there that they go through and where

(02:55):
are they taking them to? So there was one lady who said
she followed one of the buses and it takes them to O'Hare.
There's two entrances to that facility and the protesters
alternate which entrance they are protesting on any given day.
And that's where we've been doing a lot of our lives.
It's where about a little over aweek ago we saw ICE tear gas

(03:18):
protesters outside of that facility.
Then we get into where ICE is actually conducting its
operations. And that is everywhere.
You have probably heard us say many different neighborhood
names, many different street names.
You've seen us at protests in downtown Chicago.
ICE officers have been on patrols in downtown Chicago, but
they've also been in protest or on patrols in other parts of the

(03:40):
city. What ICE claims that they were
on one of those patrols here through the Brighton Park
neighborhood. One of their vehicles was rammed
by by a ten different vehicles and then a one.
A woman in one of those vehicleshad a semi automatic weapon that
agents shot that woman and they claimed that she had driven

(04:03):
herself to the hospital. But in actuality, we've learned
from the Chicago Fire Departmentthat know that woman was
actually found not very far fromwhere we are standing now.
And someone took her to the hospital where she is being
treated. And after that, we saw a huge
scene gathered out here. Crowds of people came out to

(04:25):
protest ice. Everywhere ice goes in the city,
they are being met with counter demonstrators quite quickly.
That's just where we're going tobe, you know, and.
It's like that is, is that the side that you want to be on?
Is that where you want to end up?
Because that's not right. Protests are being organized on
the fly. People are notifying each other.
We saw people out here yesterdayat this scene with signs many

(04:47):
blocks away warning passing carsthat, hey, ice is over in this
area. There.
The signs are written in Spanishfor those who who need it to be
written in Spanish to be able tounderstand.
And ICE had this scene cordoned off.
Chicago police came and took over the crowd management for
ICE like we're seeing in that central ICE facility.
They're not distinguishing between the press, between the

(05:09):
public, between the innocent andthe guilty.
And it can really depend on the day how aggressive ICE wants to
be. We've also seen ICE is using
cameras really as an excuse to be more violent.
There's been several Times Now where they have come out and
clashed for no real discernible or stated reason other than they

(05:29):
have cameras along with them, and then we're seeing them
produce these hype videos that are set to music that they're
publishing, all as a red meat. My heart's fine.
I'm only 40. Ignoring your heart health risk
is no way to go through. For their base.
This is the rhythm of them. Is unbelievable what's going on

(06:03):
in Portland. The the we have an Insurrection
Act for a reason. If I had to enact it, I didn't.
I'd do that. When we go there.
If we go to Portland, we're going to wipe.
Them out and this is all potentially a preview as to what
we're going to see in other American cities we're seeing
Trump talk with the same language that he used in the

(06:25):
lead up to the violence that's been enacted here on the city of
Chicago by the federal government he's now using it to
talk about Portland we've seen ice out in LA and we've seen of
course the National Guard deployed to Washington DC and
that city occupied so who knows exactly where the limit is here
where do they stop get the. Fuck off my love.

(06:47):
Been in Chicago for over 30 years.
This is stunning. I've never seen anything like
this before. Joey, how long have you lived
and organized in the city of Chicago?
1968, Back in those days and those times.
And I'm just pissed that we're facing even more horrendous
violation of rights right now. I couldn't believe that this

(07:10):
was, this is the state I grew upin, this is the country I grew
up in. And, you know, always looking at
law enforcement as people that protect us and.
They're not protecting. Us right?
Now, why did you want to be out here on a Friday morning bright
and early to protest against theICE facility here in Broadview,

(07:31):
IL? Yeah.
It's really hard for me to answer well.
I'm very emotional about this. It makes me cry when when I see
the way they pick people up separate families.
My my daughter-in-law has a special needs kid.
His mom was picked up. She probably was a good citizen,

(07:52):
you know, like all these other ones.
And it just just makes me sick what they do.
I'm not sure I'm going to be able to continue to hold it in.
It's hard for me to talk to the people here because when I start
talking, I'm very emotional. It's.
Certainly a story to pay attention to and one that we are
going to continue to pay attention to here at Status KU.

(08:12):

please go to statusku.com/join for $5 a month.
That keeps us on the ground in places like the Brighton Park
neighborhood of Chicago. Bringing you these important
stories, bringing you these voices from the people who are
afraid for their safety, the safety of their families, the
safety of their neighbors. And showing you exactly, exactly

(08:36):
what this government is doing inyour name with your tax dollars.
Rather than giving you healthcare, rather than giving
you adequate education, rather than giving you acceptable
infrastructure, rather than giving you just about anything.
That a modern nation, the richest economy in the world in
world history, the richest country in world history should

(08:56):
be able to provide for its people.
And yet we have communities in this country that are where the
water is unsafe to drink, where people don't have enough food to
eat, where they don't have a roof, where that they can
comfortably sleep under at night, and now increasingly have
to be afraid of violence being enacted on them purely for the

(09:17):
color of their skin or living inthe wrong communities like we're
seeing here in Chicago for Status KU.
I'm JT Saskowski.
