Captain Damon Sacco - "Tournament Tales and Big Fish Stories"

On this episode Captain Damon Sacco of Castafari Sportfishing returns for his fourth annual podcast with us.

Damon is a pleasure to talk to and as always, has great stories to share. In this conversation we start off with some experiences with seasickness, both our own personal stories and with guests aboard. We move on to discuss tournament fishing, logistical challenges in running a large offshore fishing tournament, and some recent controversy Damon has had in his own tournaments. We  also talk about the use of new sonar technologies, and whether or not they should be allowed in specific events.

Damon tells stories about fishing south of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket on the draggers this past season, hand-feeding giant bluefin. We also discuss traveling to fish across the globe. Damon does a lot of traveling as an angler to target new species using tactics he doesn't get to use a lot in his local waters. He talks about his prep for an upcoming trip he has planned in the Maldives, targeting dogtooth tuna, big jacks, and many other species.

Finally, we spend a bit of time talking about the upcoming 2024 Castafari Offshore Fishing Seminar (March 2 & 3), which is always an educational and exciting event to attend. Damon talks about some of the new presentations on tap for this year's event and mentions some  legendary captains and fishermen that will be speaking.
