Actually, this stems fromsomething my client asked me the
other day on a coaching call.

I've worked with thousands ofmen to this point, men who are

Seven, eight, nine, even10-figure business owners.
But oftentimes, building yourcompany, building your business
comes at a cost.
And most of these guys don'ttake care of their health.
They don't eat right, they drinktoo much, they have a lot of
stress, they're not present athome with their wife and kids.
And so what's all the money forif you sacrifice everything to

get there, right?
That's what they start figuringout on the journey.

And the other day, I was on acoaching call with one of my
clients, and he goes, Hey, I'mhaving trouble figuring out like
what to snack on.

Like, what should I snack on,man?
You're telling me I can't eatchips, I shouldn't drink soda,
obviously I shouldn't eat candybecause that's just bad for me
and I want to lose weight.
What should I snack on, Sean?
And this was my response to him.
I said, the only people whosnack in life are fat fucks and
kids.
And then I just stared at them.
And I said it that wayintentionally.

Because here's what you have torecognize snacking is literally
what fat people do and whatchildren do.
Like kids like to snack.
They're kids, they still can getaway with eating certain stuff,
although we should be teachingthem the right eating habits
from the very beginning.
Whole foods, healthy food, 90%healthy and organic, 10% they
get to snack on, right?

(02:48):
Candy, ice cream, be a kid.
I get it.
But for you grown men who wantto be leaders and examples,
snacking is not in the equation.
It's just not.
Snack, like what?
You need some freaking pretzelswhile you're driving to go to
work?
Like you need something to holdyou over between meals.
Dude, that's just mentalweakness.
It's a weakness inside you whereyou always feel like you need to

be eating something, doingsomething.
Do you know that people nowadayseat way more than humans ever
have in our existence?
You know, you think you needthree meals every day.
Our ancestors were lucky to getthree meals a week.
They were fasting.
They had clarity, they hadenergy, they had drive, their
metabolism, their hormones.

(03:31):
They were running like freakingmachines because they were
operating the way they wereintended to.
You know, you'd be better offfasting than snacking.
And if you're fat and overweightand you have body fat, you
should implement fastingmultiple times per week and you
should minimize what you eat.
And then when you do eat, itshould just be protein from
animal products, eggs, somecheese, a little bit of milk, a

little bit of non-fat Greekyogurt, steak, chicken, fish.
Like you shouldn't be snacking.
Foods that you snack on, they'rehighly addictive.
They're the calories are crap,they're processed, and they're
damaging your gut health.
So that was my message to myclient.
Here's the thing, you guys.
If you want different results inlife, you gotta become
different.

(04:13):
Okay.
My old self, rewind 15 yearsago.
That guy used to drink, takepills, smoke weed.
That guy would sleep in half theday and stay up all night.
I would chase women, right?
Like I wasn't doing good in mylife.
I would eat whatever I wanted,right?
I'd eat ice cream, I'd eatfreaking donuts, pizza.
I was still skinny because Iwouldn't really eat that much,

(04:34):
but I didn't have focus onbecoming my best self.
I didn't have the right habitsin place.
So I was a much lesser versionof myself.
Like I said, I was addicted todrugs and alcohol, addicted to
pleasure.
I'd eat whatever I wanted.
When I made a decision tochange, I said that I'm going to
be sober the rest of my life.
Because the man that I want tobe, the life that I want to
create, requires me to commit tothat path.

(04:54):
Okay.
That was the first decision Imade.
Then when I got out of prisonand started rebuilding my life,
and I got married to Jessica, westarted having kids, I came to
the conclusion that I didn'tneed to eat dessert anymore
because sweets was not part ofmy equation.
Okay.
Craving donuts and giving intothat temptation just weakened
me.
Thinking about ice cream afterdinner, even though I know it

(05:17):
doesn't really serve me, butthen giving in to that
temptation would just weaken myresolve, right?
I want willpower.
I want self-control.
Where I'm going in this life, Ineed everything that I can
muster up to get there.
You know what I mean?
All the willpower, all thedrive, all the self-control.
I can't afford to sit here andslow my progress by making one
step forward, two steps backover and over.

(05:39):
And people do this all day longand they don't realize the
significance of their foodchoices.
The food that you put in yourbody not only affects you
physiologically and doesn't justaffect you internally, it
affects your mental state aswell.
If you're somebody that can'tsay no to cravings, and you're
somebody that constantly needsto be eating food, and you're

somebody that doesn't havecontrol over every little thing
that you do and every decisionyou make, you are a weaker
version of yourself.
And that weakness is going tocarry over to other parts of
your life.
So three years ago, I said I'mnever eating dessert again.
And I haven't ever since, and Inever will.
Big deal.
I had enough dessert as a kid tolast me a lifetime.
So have you.
The choice to eat dessert fromthis moment forward is a choice,

(06:21):
but for a lot of you, it's justbecause you don't have
self-control.
You couldn't quit eatingdessert.
You couldn't do it.
I want to see if you can quiteating dessert for a year if you
think you can.

Another thing is, could you evenfast for 24 hours?
Could you go 24 hours withouteating?
Are you one of those people thatget so hangry you need to eat
because you don't have controlof your emotions?
Like you're gonna be rude toyour kids and mean to other

people around you because youhaven't eaten.
Your ancestors didn't eat forweeks.
And then they'd get one big mealand then they'd go another
couple days without eating.
Do you think they had time to beupset about that?
No, they didn't.
They focused on what they had todo to get by and they got
through and they survived.
You know, so the whole moral ofthe story, you guys, we need
strong men in society, not weakmen.

If you're a man that needs tosnack, dude, you're the you're
the guy that when the warhappened, right?
Like back in the day when thetribes would be fighting and
there was these like tribalwarfare and stuff, you were the
man that they left at home withthe white the women and the
kids, right?
Like to still move stuff aroundand lift something heavy.
You're big for nothing, right?
Like, dude, I want warriors onmy on my side.

You'll never want to go back tothat lesser version of yourself.
You'll never want to go back tothat pleasure-seeking behavior.
You'll never want to go back tothose vices.
When you find a path throughdiscipline, through commitment,
through focus, it becomeseverything that you've ever
wanted to be, and you're nevergonna quit.
So that's my message for youguys.
You're better than that.
Stop letting these crutches,this pleasure seeking behavior,

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm.
