Kev and Randy take to the mics once a week to talk about a song from the catalogue of the enigmatic, brilliant, and sometimes flawed rock legends Queen. Each week a song will be chosen at random so that the boys won't know what track they'll be reviewing. Kev comes into the podcast as a Queen afficionado, while Randy is a more casual fan, but has a huge wealth of knowledge about recording, performing, and music in general. At the end of each episode, both will either upvote or downvote the song and we'll take to social media to see what the listeners think! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The Pope is tired. He doesn't wanna get up. He doesn't wanna pope any more! Just leave the guy.... huh? Ohhhhhh! He snuffed it? Oh well, Popes are like buses, you wait for one for ages then two come along. Or something like that... Look, I don't know what you want from me. My phone just told me it's my bedtime, I'm rushing to get this week's episode out and the mice in the wheel in my brain seem to be on meth. Let's just leave it h...
Greg Davies, warbling eunuchs, and top notch production. It's all in this week's episode. Also, the Cardinal is SALTY this week! Someone's pissed in his chips, rearranged his daffodils, painted over his fresco of Jesus, shat in his cornflakes, and just generally pissed him off. It's like this every time he has to leave home and go out into the field to work! At least it's not winter so his nipples are cracked and sore..... Sit back...
Randy is plotting to leave again to start up a podcast with Corey but he's currently in the west north west tanlge or some shit. We get into the weeds about the rock hall of fame and thankfully it's fallen to us to kick those Sheffield bell ends Def Leppard out and replace them with someone else! Oh, we also talk about a Queen song for a bit and of course, we discuss the weather in some depth!
If Kev were to title this episode,...
The one where Randy wonders if Brian ever gets sick of the red special, Kev predicts that Ian Winick will become the first person in wheel-based podcasting history to manifest his song in back to back weeks, and the boys have a completely infantile discussion about the Cardinal's ailments! There's also a solid batman joke and we discuss the behaviour of Giacomo Tura (fuck that guy!) We also discuss one of the hardest songs for fans...
Ahhhh g'day mate! We're heading down under for one of Australia's finest. When Queen told us we had to look out for the planet, we really weren't fans of being preached at by rocks stars, so how will we find this politically-charged chart topper? We get another question in our #AskUsAnything channel from Barry and there's a little bit of Britney involved.... what a time to be alive!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probab...
Randy is incensed about the hotels in Weyburn and their attitude to towel management. He's upset about the levels of snow on the ground in Weyburn and goddamn it he's blaming Corey Morrissette for all of it! Kev's buzzing off the back of a personal best night at bowling! Our pal Barry is back with another question for us! So we answered that question. Because we're really not rude men! Also fuck Gart Brooks! And Limp Bizkit can def...
Hear ye! Hear ye! Listen you lot! Listen you lot! We've got another episode for you - as you can tell because you're reading this. There's a bit more jibber jabber up front than usual, but it's all very information, very well thought out, and completely planned, so don't skip any of it, OK? If you skip the first twenty odd minutes you'll miss out on a secret to success that could change your life, the lives of your children, the li...
Tack piano, thimbles, vocals toto loco, thieving magpies, Yamaha C7s, weather reports, and NO BRIAN MAY! That's what's in store for you this week and also Kev and Randy field questions from Barry John Williams aka Alice's Dad, and our good pal Ruddy "Mike is my Dad" Rutherford, who both want to know what our inside leg measurement is and where to find the best scotch eggs in Wimbourne for some reason... (OK I may be lying about the...
Ballast Woods. Flin Flon. Minequakes. Average athleticism. Consensual Minotaurs. Max Martin. Pink. Fifth members of Queen. It's all going on in this week's episode along with some rather excellent original R&B from Kev! Humpt Bong indeed... what a ridiculous band name! It's a long one folks, but it's the longest song we've covered to date by a good couple of minutes, so y'know!
If Kev were to title this episode, he...
Well that's The Miracle all wrapped up isn't it! I can't say that I'm sorry to see the back of it if I'm being completely honest. We've spun all ten tracks from this album now and not a single one from Flash! The wheel hates nice things. We get into a discussion about real instruments vs synthstruments again and Barry John Williams poses a couple of questions for us to chew on at the end of the episode, including a good one about t...
Ten songs down on News of the World and only one to go after this week's episode! There's no Freddie. We're Freddieless. Bereft of Fred. There is a death, an absence, verily a Freddie-sized vacuum on this song. So, the question needs to be answered, will that dickhead Randy champion or dust it??? You're just gonna have to wait to find out I guess! We had a great little question, from our pal Dan Flett, about how hard it is to write...
It's all kicking off! We've been bollocked by one of our listeners for not knowing enough about Marc Martel. We feel scolded and recalcitrant and we won't let it happen again. The next time we cover a Marc Martel song, we'll give a much more comprehensive bio on him! We'll even try to track down his mom to ask some very searching questions about Marc's teenage bedroom habits! Also, there seems to a mutiny brewing in the Scottish hi...
Wait, wait, wait! It's not Christmas! What the heck Chappers! We're delving into the world of Marc Martel and his exceptional voice this week with the opening song from 2009's album of the same name. Is there any festive spirit left in March for the boys? Tune in to find out!
If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "How Many Kings", or possibly, "Zero or One. Take your pick!".
Episode 113 wherein Kev discovers that he has a pretty valuable 7 incher on his hands. ON his hands, not in his hands. Get yer minds out of the gutter. That's later..... Anyway, there's all the usual shenanigans from all the usual suspects and we just have to keep winning pucks in the corners and getting shots to the net and if we just execute the game plan and give our goalie a chance, I'm sure we'll sports better than the other t...
If anyone is looking for Christmas gift ideas for The Cardinal, he'd love a 1967 Gretsch White Falcon. Or, if you have a way of acquiring one, one of Jimi Hendrix's Strats. And if you want to start receiving these episodes by tape cassette, what in the hell is wrong with you? (But, Kev is somewhat serious about doing a limited run!) We talk about wandering around Belfast armed, why cold is sometimes just cold, and how exactly did Q...
Did you know that Randy went to hitman school? How about the fact that Kev feels that consistency is key when it comes to being an asshole. We also discuss what type of music a psychopath might listen to and what music we've been listening to other than Queen. The Cardinal is complaining about football again and Kev is frankly getting a little tired of his whining! I don't know if this partnership is going to last!
If Randy were...
You know that saying "Go big or go home"? What if you were to do both? Well, that's what Queen attempted with the final track on The Miracle. They fired up the old Kurzweil, made Roger play a real drum kit and, if you can believe it, actually sat in a room as a band and recorded this one together. One of our listeners really sticks the boot in, so we return it in kind, and Randy is pondering an SPR move into the political sphere. I...
We're gonna test the theory that you guys will listen to us talk about anything..... over lunch.
Episode one is recorded on location at the rough and ready (and perfectly cromulent) Amigos Cantina at 806 Dufferin Ave, Saskatoon. Tex Mex was eaten, craft beer was consumed, and we set the world mainly to rights! It was bitterly, bitterly cold the day we went so being inside with warm food and warm company was a real blessing!
Chappperrrrzzzzzzzz!!!!!
Look, we’re not gonna tell you how to live your lives, but really, if you’re watching a sport that needs music to be played all the way through as a distraction, is this a good use of your time? Well. Is it? Randy’s back from the desert, Kev’s in from the cold, Roger’s ready for a night on the town, and Bri has his stank knob dialled up to ten. So shoot and get your suit, cos we’re talkin’ Queen!
If K...
The late great Tom Petty once said “I hate to generalize on a whole genre of music, but it does seem to be missing that magic element that it used to have.” Well, sometimes you just gotta shake things up and when the old bop is getting tired and needs a rest, you know what you gotta do. Get your leathers on bryl creme up that hair and flip a quarter into the jukebox, cos we’re talkin’ Queen!
If Kev were to title this episode, he...
